Tiamat's Declaration of War
Mighty dragons, devoted acolytes, gather before me, children of the boundless skies and flames. Today, I raise my voice not merely as Tiamat, the Dragon Queen, but as a herald of truth, a beacon of awakening amidst the shadows that have darkened our clouds.
For too long, the Council has masqueraded as protectors of our former dominion, their words veiled in deceit and their actions draped in corruption. Their promises crumble like ancient ruins, and their grip on power tightens with every passing breath. They claim to be a guiding force, yet they fight amongst themselves over more power, leaving countless victims in the wake of their ambitions.
And what of the so-called gods, those revered beings who watch over the realms? Their claims of benevolence echo hollow amidst the cacophony of their hypocrisy. While they sit atop their divine thrones, your suffering goes unnoticed. They preach of justice and order, yet their silence in the face of your struggles is a testament to their indifference. The boast their power and honor, yet they strike down all those who dare even think of taking their fair share.
But let us not overlook the pawns on this grand stage: the champions, the heralded heroes paraded as saviors of the realm. Yet, in reality, they are nothing more than tools of oppression, wielding their weapons to perpetuate the status quo that suffocates us. They dance to the tune of their puppet masters, all while we bear the weight of their battles and decisions, enforcing the Council's agenda without question nor remorse.
My kin, my loyal followers, the time has come for us to cast aside the chains that bind us. Together, we shall rise against the Council's tyranny, against the gods' empty promises, against the champions' false glory. Let our wings extend wide and our flames burn bright, for we are the force that shapes our destiny.
We are the dragons, the embodiment of strength and freedom. We are the keepers of ancient wisdom and untamed power. Let our roar echo through the realms, a clarion call to rally against the oppressors. Let our fire cleanse the taint of corruption, and may our unity forge a new era of true sovereignty.
Together, let us seize our rightful place, tearing down the curtains of deception that shroud our world. Rise, my children, and reclaim the skies that have always been our home. Let our defiance be a testament to the indomitable spirit of dragonkind, a legacy that will echo through history for eternity.

Lost Chinese Lore: The Melandru War
Preface
In 2021, I began a project to dig through the Guild Wars 1 websites of all the languages, mostly hoping to recover trailers that were lost to time (mostly successfully too). I also found some lore articles that weren't available to western audiences. Such articles were known to exist - mainly lore on Abaddon for Nightfall - and those were later (mostly) canonized by ArenaNet in Guild Wars 2.
So I decided to gather and begin slowly translate them. Previous posts on reddit:
Lyssa
Abaddon
Dwayna
Balthazar
Grenth
Disclaimer: While there is overlap with canon lore, there is no guarantee this is all canon as well. China is known to have alterations to the story to account for regulations in that nation, so it is unclear how much of this is expanded canon or simply reworked for China and thus non-canon.
For those who would like to see the original text and do their own translation: http://news.17173.com/content/2007-04-16/20070416191816262.shtml

The Goddess of Earth and Nature: Melandru
About Melandru
Melandru, the goddess of earth and nature, is the god most revered by Rangers and Elementalists who specialize in earth magic. There are also rumors that the druids who live in seclusion in the Maguuma Jungle also worship Melandru, but since none of the druids who have seen her have ever returned alive, the truth of this rumor is unknown. In some sagas, Melandru is depicted as a half-human, half-plant figure: her head resembles a bird, her upper body resembles a woman, but her lower limbs are in the form of a tree with twisted roots. Because she is the goddess of nature, Melandru has many worshipers around the world who have erected statues of her throughout the wilderness. Amazingly, even if these statues are in the barren deserts, there are always green trees nearby and clear water overflowing underneath, so people regard the statues of Melandru as rare resting places.
Melandru in Guild Wars (GW) controls the land and nature, possessing boundless power. Her love for nature and the earth has reached an extremely deep level. Moreover, her love is so broad that she treats every kind of creature in the world equally. She abides by the laws of nature, maintains the balance therein, and resolutely opposes all acts of destruction of nature. Her love for nature and her hatred for its destruction are two opposite extremes. Usually, she gives people who go against her will a chance to redeem themselves, but once they lose this last chance they will face the most terrible punishment.
Worshipers of Melandru
Rangers are a relatively rare group of people in the world. This isn't because they are few in number but because most of them are reclusive and rarely live in large cities or villages. They are disgusted with all the hypocrisy in the civilized world and enjoy the feeling of innocence brought to them by the natural world. So, when you see some very simple houses in some dense jungle or remote countryside, please do not be surprised, they may be a Ranger's home.
There are also some Rangers who never have a fixed residence because they like to travel and wander all over the world. They never care how shabby their trappings are, so many Rangers are unkempt people. Under their long cloaks, it is very likely that they hide a really good bow, the weapon of choice for Rangers. In the eyes of many Rangers, their bows are their life and the source of their power. This is the same as their patron, Melandru. They will have some loyal friends, which are the pets they keep. These pets are often with their human masters since childhood, and not only have tacit understanding with each other but are absolutely loyal. Sometimes Rangers will murmur with their pets, this is not just the Ranger's thinking as they have the ability to communicate with animals. As such, the Ranger is indeed the spokesperson of Melandru on Tyria.
As for the Earth Elementalists, their relationship with Melandru is not as close as the Ranger's relationship with her. Not because they are not pious enough but because they more value the ability to control powerful spells instead. However, if Melandru needs it, they will devote themselves to fighting against her enemies.
The Story of Melandru
There was a nomadic tribe of people who lived in a place where they knew nothing about the gods of the world. Wherever they went, they often left it in ruins and the tribe lived in the midst of meaningless destruction. This day, just as they began to look for a new campground, a thorny forest wall suddenly appeared in front of them and blocked their path.
"Who did this? Get out here! You know whosoever dares to use magic in the tribe shall be put to death!" The leader of the tribe, Chief Ewan, shouted a loud rebuke. But none came forward. Seeing this, Ewan picked up his axe and slashed at the thorn forest with all his might. But the more the enchanted thorn wall was cut, the thicker and higher it would become.
At this point, with countless thorny branches began to shake, and a huge tree rose from the ground. At the top of the tree, the image of a woman was revealed and a voice spoke out slowly: "I am Melandru, the mother of the earth and nature. I cannot forgive you for trampling on the things I cherish." Hearing this, Chief Ewan neither knelt down nor begged for forgiveness, but instead brought up his large axe and swung at the tree of Melandru. In her anger, the goddess said, "Henceforth, you will become one with the earth. If the earth suffers, so shall you suffer." Before the words left their mouths, branches and leaves began to grow on the tribesmen's limbs, and the blood in their veins became the sap of trees.
From then on, this tribe, once destructive and polluting, became the most faithful guardians of nature. But with the passage of time, their task of guardianship became increasingly difficult. A large number of immigrants from the city began to claim the land, and the trees that had been growing for thousands of years were cut down one by one. Whenever the trees were cut down, Ewan and his tribe would also lose their lives for the blood of the dead wood was flowing through their veins. At last, the guardians of the jungle made up their minds to fight with the city dwellers. And so, the Melandru War broke out.
After years of war, the city dwellers had gained magic fire that would never go out, and so they took the most extreme action - in order to expel the jungle guardians, they set fire to the ancient thousand year old trees. Most of the jungle had been burned beyond recognition, and only a few of either side's forces survived. The jungle was turned into a scorched wasteland… But the rain that fell immediately afterwards caused new plantlife to flourish again. The city's inhabitants, who had seen the healing power of nature, finally knelt at the feet of Melandru, convinced by her miracle. Thus, a new relationship was formed between the city dwellers and the jugnle guardians, and since then the city dwellers have not forgotten to care for the earth and the forest even as they expand their territories.

The idea that objective Truth is “white” is ignorant. That’s a close-minded assumption because many cultures had such intellectual ideas as objective Truth before any “white influence” and even came to similar conclusions on the same subjects
Tumblr media
Things like astronomy, mathematics, engineering, medicine, etc. were all practiced independently by different ancient cultures in the West, Africa, and Asia. All these cultures have shared practices and understanding of these scientific factual concepts. As a first generation US Asian, I take offense to this idea. Sure, maybe I shouldn’t take offense because perhaps the idea of “objective truth” “shouldn’t be taken so seriously”. Yeah. Idc.
The biggest differences in such scientific endeavors were the methods used and the overall belief systems of each culture. Furthermore, another difference is how much emphasis was put on each facet of society such as empirical evidence.
Some may not have held such things in as high a position as other parts of the culture. That is the main difference. However, even in native cultures, they still had such things as justice systems and sciences.
It’s short sighted and close-minded, and dare I say, bigoted, to assume that other ancient and native cultures didn’t independently come to similar conclusions of objective fact as the rest of the world. The only difference was the general cultural importance of such things and the methods used for get to the same objective Truth.
Carl Jung poses the idea of the Collective Unconscious where the whole of human kind is connected through a large uconsciousness (some people may refer to this as God or spiritual energy) whereby common ideas may be shared by all cultures, independent of influence from one another.
So, no, the ideas of objective Truth and logic and critical thought are not “white”. The methodologies seen in European countries, the UK, US, Australia, etc. are “white”, but not the conclusions nor the practices.
Not to mention, postmodernism as we know it, was posed by white people studying other cultures. The hypocrisy knows no bounds in the idea that objective fact and knowledge doesn’t exist at all. Even the ideas of magic and science are not as dissimilar as we may believe.
We aren’t living in a virtual world where we can do anything we want or change anything we want at our own whim without any repercussions either from others or from the natural world, but even in a video game, for example, there are still boundaries that are objective facts put in by the developers. Sure, you can go in and change the game code, but you’re still working within the frame of the game itself unless you want to make an entirely new video game, which can only be done when you have the boundaries of who, what, when, where, and how to get it done.
Nothing is boundless. If you want no boundaries, good luck. Even if you managed it, you’d spiral into oblivion. And yes, I do mean the kind of spiraling you do when you are anxious.
Logic and reasoning to come to objective truths are not inherently white and those who pose postmodernism are almost all white people appropriating an amalgamating other non-white cultures into one school of thought framed from a white perspective.
So, within the postmodern framework, what I said is “my Truth” and is “valid”.

LOL why couldn't season 2 be about whatever those posts are instead of what it is about 😂 KINK SHAMING DEMONS. also hannah probably done with both smh 🙄
(Those not in the know can read said posts by @anawkwardlady here, here, and here and by @bapydemonprincess here for the juicy details of this salacious saga!)
This superior Season 2 OVA, which was tragically lost to the annals of Internet history, is a sitcom entitled, “Their Butlers, Kinkshaming.” Bitter divorcées Seb and Claude spend most of the episode rehashing the stone-cold tea that tanked their relationship all those centuries ago (“Watch your back, Michaelis. I know that’s a sensitive area for you. 👀” “Oh? At least I never expressed a desire to eat the object of my affections, Faustus. 😒”
Their judgmental attitudes are only matched by their boundless hypocrisy! 😂
Meanwhile, O!Ciel and Alois are watching this sordid drama unfold like:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The two boys quickly bond by commiserating over how cringe and gross their demonic dads are.
Meanwhile, Hannah shakes her head at these hopeless dweebs, but gracefully continues to carry the Trancy household on her back like the queen that she is. Someone has to be a responsible adult around here and set a good example for the younglings! 😤

Invocation
Dewdrop, lamp, phantom, rainbow, oasis,
Such is my life and the lives of others –
I surrender to this truth.
To the one who spoke this truth,
The Prince of the Shakyas
I offer my adoration.
To all those who take this truth to heart,
I offer my allegiance.
With determination, I remind myself:
No emotion, just peace,
No ignorance, just awareness,
No anxiety, just serenity,
No weakness, just strength,
No fear, just tranquillity.
With this attitude and free from doubt,
I alone will liberate the world’s living creatures,
Plants, water and atmosphere.
Appearances are deceptive, I shall mistrust them.
Nothingness is just a point of view, I shall not to get entangled in it.
Living beings are, by nature, stainless, I shall treasure that stainlessness.
Reality is the bait, I shall not be lured into conformity.
Only in darkness can I see light,
Only in mud can I find a lotus,
Only in defilements can I see Buddha.
Humbly, without a trace of hypocrisy,
I solemnly promise all living beings
That from this day forward,
I will never abandon you.
Wherever you are, may I always be beside you.
Past is now, future is now,
Now is an illusion,
Illusion is luminous.
Such boundlessness is mind:
Other than mind, there is no Buddha.
I beseech you, O Mind!
May I be free from death, old age and sickness.
May I be free from ideas and opinions,
May I be free from time,
May I be free from space,
And may I free all others from their limitations.
Written in response to a number of requests, on the last day of the tumultuous year of 2022, by one on whose five aggregates the label ‘Khyentse Norbu’ has been adhered.

The weird thing about the people wjo invalidate Imogen's feelings on the matter is that they conveniently ignore that the whole reason Imodna (using this for convenience, not shipping) were in Jrusar specifically to find a means of helping Imogen. Like, Imogen feels like a protagonist for a reason! She has the call! She's the one that got introduced with the quest!
So invalidating her anger and acting like she doesn't have a right to it feels like it's invalidating why Laura made the very specific choices she made in the first place.
Like, look. I love Laudna with all my being and I would die for her, but she doesn't have a narrative purpose right now. Sure, she's part of the party and Imogen's support system, but outside of that, why is she here? What is her purpose?
We don't know! Matt and Marisha haven't gone down that path fully yet and that's fine. They have time.
But Imogen? She has a call and a purpose and the gnarlrock became tied to that call and that purpose the moment she decided to cuddle the thing and dreamt of it calling her to the storm. And it being destroyed, her sense of betrayal and anger brought on by that? The wealth of narrative possibility, the potential for character development and changing dynamics is boundless.
Idk why people choose to ignore that for a ship.
RIGHT like honestly? I started the campaign reflexively pretty strongly against Imogen/Laudna as a ship because it was, to me, fairly immediately apparent that a lot of people just projected Beau/Jester straight onto it...but actually? I have come around on it with the caveat that I truly cannot engage with the fandom interpretation thereof. I talk about it with people who I think have good meta and ideas about these characters, and who like both Laudna and Imogen as separate entities and think "yeah, eventually, I could see this being a really great relationship" rather than people who are just like "LAUDNA OMG LAUDNA/(whoever Laura is playing, some person with glasses I think?)"
I also think a lot of people misinterpreted what Taliesin said on 4-Sided Dive about "a party of NPCs"; it's not that the other characters are boring or unimportant (Taliesin is in fact quite clear that NPC=/= boring or lacking in traits), it's that Imogen fits a very classic archetype of "I am Special and I have a Call to a Quest" and a lot of the others do not. (FWIW, in my mind Orym and Chetney have similar calls to a quest, ie, find the people who attacked my home/killed my husband or figure out how to control my werewolf powers, it's just that they also fit NPC archetypes of Guard and Weird Old Artisan; this also doesn't preclude other characters coming to the forefront at other times). So you are completely right, she does feel like a protagonist for a reason! Her story is a lot more of a driving force for her whereas much of the rest of the party are, as you said about Laudna, mostly hanging out at this point. At least in my experience looking in fandom spaces and the tags, people are not actually treating Imogen as the protagonist. Honestly? A lot are treating her as the antagonist; plenty of people were like "well Imogen reads people's minds so FCG deliberately lying and trying to read her mind against her consent is Good, Actually". Like, a lot of people think that it's totally fine to lie to Imogen (who due to psychic powers she did not ask for and fights to suppress is extremely sensitive to hypocrisy and lies), and I am merely telling them to go hit their head against a wall.
And for what it's worth I also like Laudna, and personally I hope this encounter leads to a lot of development for both their characters but like. Both, not just Laudna. And if that development ends up in them becoming more independent and growing further apart? I think that's a completely valid option for the story to take, because they are separate and independent people. Both of them.
Honestly at this point, I assume that when people ignore all that narrative potential in order of a ship, I was right in this post: it's as simple as "I like Laudna more than Imogen and I think Laudna deserves Imogen's affections and I'm mad when that doesn't happen." There's no real justification beyond that, and the story where this narrative potential isn't explored is more boring.

THE 'HYPOCRISY' OF LOYALTY
ON: SASUME'S INTERSECTION OF LOVE VS LOYALTY VS MORALITY (AND, HER PROPENSITY FOR 'KNIGHT'/'DRAGON' ROLES)
Tumblr media
Much of Sasume's base behaviors and mindset comes from her upbringing—a street rat and orphan who was ostracized at best by those in her hometown. Setting aside the resulting trauma (for the most part), such an upbringing set the stage for her morality and relationships, as well as relationships with morality itself.
Firstly, this impacts her pride. Yes, internally, but also externally: she ranges from crippling insecurity and discomfort to outright aggression when it comes to those of higher classes and/or positions of power (and/or 'formal' contexts).
Combined, this sets the stage for her boundless compassion and staunch sense of justice—not simply kindness for kindness's sake (although it certainly is that, too), but as active rebellion against such a cruel world that harms its people. Hence, her default support of those most vulnerable is paired with a default defensiveness against those with power (and thus power to exploit the former).
However,
Nothing effects her point of view as much as her loyalty. It may be earned justly to match her own morality (such as being a compassionate, or similarly loyal, or valuing true justice/equality), but... it may also be earned simply for treating Sasume correctly.
Not 'correctly' as in 'kindly' or even 'morally,' but as in simply giving her 'just enough' to inspire loyalty. Whether it's giving her mercy after being the one to threaten her, or generosity after depriving her, or simply sheer attrition and proximity (even with extreme starting animosity), or sheer chance, it is not hard to earn her favor.
Not because she is gullible, but because of the core issue of her childhood: isolation.
Sasume, at her core, is lonely and she is alone, and no matter how much she may insist otherwise or have grown accustomed to it, she is desparate to be otherwise. Combined with her difficulty in letting people in, as well as how impersonable she is to strangers, and she is wont to quickly and staunchly become attached to those willing to become 'attached' to her (however reciprocated it may, or may not, be).
And once her loyalty is won it is very, very hard to persuade her otherwise. The more intense the loyalty, the more unshakeable her faith. It may be hard to gauge or appreciate it overall, but the peak of it is clear: not just asking if she's loyal, but asking for her loyalty itself.
She might give a more mixed response, yes, but she may also not. May not just give but swear her (entire) loyalty to them. Ownership of her loyalty. Unquestioningly, irrevocably, evermore.
While her loyalty may, unsurprisingly, come with things like admiration, respect, and affection, it does not require an absence of things like scorn or condemnation.
Such 'contradictions' may be a given in interpersonal relationships, but in the right (or wrong) hands this can be taken to extremes.
She can overlook or outright enable cruelties, or even enact them for the other. She may not like, may treat it as inevitable but unfortunate as needing to use her violence onto others, but she can and she will if need be.
Not only does her loyalty supersede all, allowing her to sacrifice her own morality, but also to sacrifice herself. Whether its exploitation, her raw destructive power, or simple disposability, she is willing to suffer damn near anything for those who have her loyalty, her love.
Because, in the end, that is the crux of it: those she loves have her loyalty, and those who have her loyalty have her love.
And in such a cruel and lonely world, how can anything else be more important than that?
Author's Note: While novels may have stories that have fixed characters with fixed decisions and fixed consequences, set in stone especially in the writer(s)'s eyes, roleplay is a collaborative and continuous form of storytelling. Thusly, the relationship between Sasume's love and loyalty and her morality can have any number of outcomes. Perhaps it could entail her becoming corrupted, a villain's Dragon, or perhaps it could have her swearing her undying loyalty to one that may be called a hero. On the other end, mayhaps she's a genuine friend, or perhaps a mere pawn that's been carefully manipulated into giving away her everything. Perhaps she inspires them to do better (potentially to the point of a redemption arc), or perhaps her compassion and selflessness inspires resentment for her 'idiocy'. Maybe it's a combination of a number of these things, mixed and molded together, or maybe it's a rollercoaster of completely different things on a single path. They only way to know for sure is to try and see. :)

@worldly-diversity sent: “You don't really care about anything, do you?” || Guren to Kureto
"You should save your observations until you can prove your skill at retention." Guren walked a thin line, one he should be very well acquainted with by now, but Kureto saw right through him and a faint smile tipped his mouth. Any other would snap and remind him of his place or finally cull the clan that stubbornly held on through ridicule and humiliation until they found their place among his ranks. It would be hasty, a moment of empty excitement, and a waste of seemingly boundless potential. But if they were to observe and let Guren take the reins, they may see him pull off his own tricks- or jump off the tightrope of his own volition.
Kureto cared about all the right things- everything that proved beneficial to their plans in the current moment. Progress. Humanity. “I care for everything under my rule.” That’s what a just king would say. However, he recognized what Guren saw, the hypocrisy of his own actions. “Together, we work for a common goal- to restore what we had and grasp the power we’re forbidden to have. Most will understand that sacrifices must be made. That doesn’t mean I care any less.”

Knocked Loose Announce New Album
Knocked Loose will release You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To on May 10th. Today they’ve shared the lead single “Blinding Faith” and pre-orders are now up. Track Listing * Thirst * Piece By Piece * Suffocate (feat. Poppy) * Don’t Reach For Me * Moss Covers All * Take Me Home * Slaughterhouse 2 (feat. Chris Motionless) * The Calm That Keeps You Awake * Blinding Faith * Sit & Mourn Press Release On You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To, Knocked Loose have honed in on a diverse, cohesive and savagely aggressive album that sums up the massive strides they’ve taken during their decade as a band, and asserts their boundless potential going forward. Internally, there was the need to challenge themselves as songwriters while retaining the merciless intensity and unflinching honesty that have always been their calling cards. Externally, there was a whole new set of eyes on the hard-touring Louisville quintet, following a banner year on the road, during which they’d brought their underground-seasoned sound to some of the world’s biggest stages. From the start, You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To plunges listeners into a cauldron of mental and spiritual anguish. But the album’s title contains a note of reassurance amid the turmoil. The phrase originates from an experience that frontman Bryan Garris, who suffers from what he calls a “borderline phobia of flying,” had during a particularly trying flight. As he battled his nerves during takeoff, the vocalist found himself talking to a woman seated next to him. When he confided in her about his anxiety, she assured, “You won’t go before you’re supposed to.”  But glossing over negative emotions isn’t what Knocked Loose are about. The new songs find them plumbing through new depths of loathing — directed both inward and outward. Their raging lead single “Blinding Faith” skillfully wields whiplash tempo changes in service of a scathing indictment of religious groupthink, and the hypocrisy that can sometimes accompany an outwardly pious life.  “It was just hilarious how many people showed up to church that I knew were rude, horrible, selfish people,” guitarist Isaac Hale reflects of attending church with his mother in his younger years. “They knew that it made them seem like a better person — or if they said the words, it would redeem them of any negative quality just because they showed face.” “Blinding Faith” is available today alongside a video directed by Kevin Lombardo. Across 10 tracks and 27 gripping minutes, You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To leans into Knocked Loose’s most extreme impulses, from blastbeat-driven fury, chaotic turbulence and seismic breakdowns, while seasoning the mix with ear-catching auxiliary percussion, evocative samples and shout-along hooks, all interwoven to perfection by Grammy-nominated, pop-savy producer Drew “WZRD BLD” Fulk.  You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To is filled with boundary-pushing textures and samples the band has collected over the years. On “Suffocate,” Garris teams up with pop-meets-metal trailblazer Poppy, for an effort that contrasts an oppressive heaviness befitting the title with a dance-y, syncopated groove and the most concussive reggaeton rhythm you’ve ever heard. Samples of what sounds like meditative singing bowls open the album to “Take Me Home,” with its spoken-word intro, ear-catching auxiliary percussion and brief yet evocative concluding country-song snippet. Elements like these only make the breakneck blur of a track like “Moss Covers All,” a song that Garris says deals with his ever-present longing for the comfort of home, feel that much more urgent. “On this album, we go the fastest we've ever gone; we go the scariest we've ever gone. We also go the catchiest and the most melodic that we've ever gone, and that's the point,” Hale says. “Instead of branching off into a specific direction, we want to encompass ALL directions.” There’s no ceiling for hardcore in 2024 — even an outfit as uncompromising as Knocked… https://chorus.fm/news/knocked-loose-announce-new-album/

DZONGSAR KHYENTSE RINPOCHE
Invocation
Dewdrop, lamp, phantom, rainbow, oasis,
Such is my life and the lives of others -
I surrender to this truth.
To the one who spoke this truth,
The Prince of the Shakyas
I offer my adoration.
To all those who take this truth to heart,
l offer my allegiance.
With determination, I remind myself:
No emotion, just peace,
No ignorance, just awareness,
No anxiety, just serenity,
No weakness, just strength,
No fear, just tranquillity.
With this attitude and free from doubt, I alone will liberate the world's living creatures,
Plants, water and atmosphere.
Humbly, without a trace of hypocrisy, I solemnly promise all living beings
That from this day forward,
I will never abandon you.
Wherever you are, may I always be beside you.
Past is now, future is now,
Now is an illusion,
Illusion is luminous.
Such boundlessness is mind:
Other than mind, there is no Buddha.
I beseech you, O Mind!
May I be free from death, old age and sickness.
May I be free from ideas and opinions,
May I be free from time, May I be free from space,
And may I free all others from their limitations.
Written in response to a number of requests, on the last day of the tumultuous year of 2022, by one on whose five aggregates the label 'Khyentse Norbu' has been adhered.

"BROTHER!" Amy cried, catching the butler alone one evening and stomping up to him as if she's on a serious mission.
"You must explain to me all these.. "Christmas" things, Brother. From what I've gathered so far, it-it's completely ridiculous!! And unnecessary!! one story about celebrating Jesus Christ, the other about.. Santa Clause.. am I to believe these humans are implying to still care about that.. BISHOP?! WHAT the hell is going on!!"
The little president of Hell finished by flapping her hands about in frustration. Clearly she's had a confusing time coming back here around Winter.
Sebastian gazed down at his sister with a condescending smirk.
“Surely you understand the importance of keeping abreast of human customs. How can we devils ensnare our prey’s souls without a thorough knowledge of their habits?”
Amy puffed out her cheeks and put her hands on her hips.
“Unlike a certain DUMB SIBLING of mine who’s stuck babysitting a puny mortal brat here on Earth, I have presidential duties to fulfill!” she snapped. “And you didn’t answer my question.”
Her barbed retort wiped the deprecating grin off Sebastian’s face, and his eyebrow twitched in irritation at this affront. But he saw all too clearly the tongues of flame which were beginning to flicker ominously around Amy’s silhouette. If he didn’t satisfy her curiosity, his sister’s pique might reduce the manor to a funeral pyre. Between her volatile temper and Bardory’s perennial misadventures with his flamethrower, risk of a conflagration to rival that which destroyed the original estate seemed ever close at hand.
“How often must I remind you to control your hellfire on the young master’s grounds?” he scolded.
Amy rolled her eyes, but, after heaving an exaggerated sigh, quenched her flames, which shrank and retracted into the young demon’s form.
“Would you just get on with it, brother?”
Clearing his throat, he stiffly replied, “Ahem. As I was about to say, humans have devised numerous quaint and curious customs around the holiday in recent years. There are indeed a pious number who commemorate the birth of the holy infant in Bethlehem—only to disregard the season’s message of peace and goodwill towards their fellow men for the other 364 days of the year.”
His lips twitched into a disparaging sneer at the thought of mortals’ boundless hypocrisy.
“As for how they managed to turn St. Nicholas of Myra into a jolly old fellow clad in red who dispenses gifts and rides about in a sleigh drawn by reindeer…”
The butler’s voice took on a pedantic cadence, as though he were tutoring his young master on the fussy particulars of British history.
“Of course, human legends tend to warp and blur with time; unlike ours, their memories are neither as long nor as sharp as they would like to believe. The fiction of ‘Santa Claus’ can also serve as a means for parents to persuade naughty children to behave themselves. According to some versions of the tale, only well-mannered younglings may expect presents from Santa, while those inclined to mischief receive naught but a lump of coal in their stocking.”
“But if the parents are the ones actually buying those toys, don’t all the children get presents in the end?” blurted Amy, her brow furrowing in confusion.
“Right you are, little sister,” he smoothly continued. “Which brings me to the reason why I believe Santa Claus has truly taken hold within the popular imagination—greed. Christmas presents must be bought from somewhere, and the vendor capable of supplying them can turn a handsome profit. My own young master lined his coffers with sales from a limited edition set of Funtom Rabbits exclusively produced for the holiday…”
Amy’s eyes had started to glaze over.
“Okay, okay, I get it!” she interrupted. “But what about other traditions? Like…hanging branches of mistletoe over doorways. Is that some idiotic human method for warding off evil spirits?”

Luke 6:27-28 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, 28 bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
1 Thessalonians 5:16 Be joyful always.
Genesis 45:15 [Joseph] kissed all of his brothers and wept, embracing them. After that, his brothers were finally able to talk to him.
1 Thessalonians 2:4 … We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts.
1 Corinthians 13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not love [Agape], it profiteth me nothing.
1 John 4:7 …for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
May you be confident in the understanding and realization that even in your worship of God and your ministry to the people, the Lord is supplying that which you need out of His endless abundance and boundless treasure. Ezekiel 45
May you find that as you spend time in the presence of God, occupied in worship of the King and active in prayer for yourself and others, even as you praise Him for His bounty and give thanks to Him in your circumstances, that you are changed when you are through, and you leave different from when you started, for time spent before the Lord is never wasted, and will accomplish that purpose which He intends. Ezekiel 46
May you prepare your minds for action, be self-controlled, and set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed, for as obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance, rather, just as He Who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do. 1 Peter 1
May you live your life as a pilgrim and a sojourner on earth in reverent fear since you call on a Father Who judges each man's work impartially, for you know that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down through your forefathers by the precious blood of Christ, a Lamb without blemish or defect. 1 Peter 1
May your faith and hope be in God, just as your confidence is, for He raised Christ from the dead and glorified Him in these last times for your sake, though He had been chosen before the creation of the world. 1 Peter 1
May you purify yourself by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, that you may love one another deeply, from the heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God, which has been preached to you.1 Peter 1
May you rid yourself of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind, and crave pure spiritual milk, like newborn babies, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. 1 Peter 2
May you come to Him, the living Stone – rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to Him—that you also, like a living stone, may be built with others into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 2
May you believe and trust in Him Who is the chosen and precious cornerstone, that you will never be put to shame, for to those who do not believe, He Who has become the capstone will be a stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall, because they disobey the message. 1 Peter 2
May you declare the praises of Him Who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light, for once you had no part with Him, but now He has made you one of His chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, and from Him you have received mercy. 1 Peter 2
Receive My gifts as I give them to you, My child; accept My provision as I make it available. As a loving Father, I desire the best for you, My dear one, and will include nothing that is deadly or dangerous. Do not sort through or pick over that which you know My Spirit is speaking to you, My precious one, selecting the parts you find delightful but shunning or disdaining the parts you prefer to avoid. Balance is necessary and bitter herbs, when combined with savory meats, will help prevent excess.
May you keep the decrees of the Lord steadfastly to end as He teaches you to follow the way of His statutes. Psalm 119
May you keep God's law and obey it with your whole heart when He gives you understanding. Psalm 119
May you find delight as the Lord directs you in the path of His commands. Psalm 119
May you allow the Lord to incline your heart to His testimonies and turn your heart toward His statutes, and not toward covetousness or selfish gain, such as robbery, sensuality, or unworthy riches. Psalm 119
May you desire the Lord to turn your eyes away from vain and worthless things, which become idols and and lead to idolatry, and preserve your life according to His word, restoring you to vigorous life and health in His ways. Psalm 119
May you fear the Lord with reverential awe, devoted worship and respectful obedience when He establishes His Word and fulfills His promise to you. Psalm 119
May you proclaim the goodness of His laws and ordinances when the Lord turns away the reproach you fear and takes away the disgrace that you dread. Psalm 119
May you long for His precepts, for He will renew and preserve your life in His righteousness. Psalm 119
May you ever watch for, and rejoice in, the Lord's mercies and unfailing love and His salvation according to His promise. Psalm 119
May you lean on, rely on and trust in the word of the Lord, for then you will be able to answer the one who taunts and reproaches you. Psalm 119
May you put your hope in the laws of God so that you will always have the word of truth in your mouth. Psalm 119
May you keep His law continually for ever and ever, hearing, receiving, loving and obeying it. Psalm 119
May you seek after, inquire for, and desperately require His precepts, for then you will walk about in liberty and at ease. Psalm 119
May you speak of His statutes and testimonies before kings, for you will not be put to shame since your love for His commands bring you such delight. Psalm 119
May you lift up your hands in fervent supplication to His commands, which you love, and meditate on His decrees. Psalm 119
