We went from “still just getting to know each other” to full on fanfic courtesy people mag in exactly 14 days. Do you think this could mean it will be short lived? Seems to be moving fast.

I don’t know what is going to happen because I don’t know what her goal is beyond simple publicity for the movie and 1989 tv (and just in general being seen dating a man which is important for her image and for selling music) and we’ll have to wait to see how it goes. I still stand by it likely to be short lived but whether that means November or March, your guess is good as mine. I think I’m currently leaning more in the March direction as being most likely, but it could be tomorrow or it could be forever or whatever she said in Blank Space.

In case anyone’s keeping count, I also have pretty much settled on all of this being well planned out in advance, including his appearance at the July KC tour in the first place. I wouldn’t be surprised if it had been planned for a very long time, just like Matty was.

1) have them linked publicly (for Travis it was the concert and friendship bracelet digits story). Sit back and watch the reaction, and give it a bit of a push in the right direction. With joe this was all done retroactively, after their relationship was “accidentally” leaked we found out they hung out in Oct. With Matty this was done over the course of late 2022-early 2023.

2) soft launch it by announcing an appearance ahead of time to get all eyes on it, while planting stories that they’ve hung out a few times, to establish a timeline back into the summer (august 1ish). Have her publicly meet his mom and get her approval. Again, with joe this was done retroactively, where we found out she had pined over him all summer and their anniversary was sept 28, and we’ve even now got a hook up on Aril 29. For Matty, she met his mom in stage 1), then this stage was her announcing the break up on Matty’s bday, and then planting stories that they were dating, that he’d go to Nash and there’d be PDA, and then stories that she thought maybe he was the one who got away, and had quietly been in love with him for almost a decade.

3) launch, but keep it casual. There’s still time to back out if things go poorly. People have time to get used to it and talk about “are they or aren’t they” serious, and you can control the narrative via media outlets and inside sources to set people up the way you want them to lean, all without even having them seen together more than once or twice. Set up a casual photo of them that seems to taken without their knowledge in a private moment. (Balcony with joe, private club with Matty, after party in KC with Travis.) This is far as she got with Matty then she cut her losses. Or I guess you could argue they had spilled into step 4). It’s a spectrum. With joe, again this was done retroactively but also the summer of 2017, no one knew how serious they were until secret sessions/rep came out.

4) hard launch during movie opening weekend. WE ARE HERE. For Matty this was probably supposed to happen during speak now release. But who knows. For joe it was reputation’s release.

5) Optional: push things hard until enough people seem to be generally getting tired of it. I assume this is next with Travlor. No idea how long this will last. Days or weeks I think. With joe this wasn’t a big deal because of the privacy narrative. No one could get tired of something they never saw (though they could get bored of it which was ok at that stage but boredom is the opposite of what she wants now.) With Travis I think this stage will be more of an important thing. If you go back to Calvin, this stage was most of their relationship.

6) cool things down so then people talk about “are they or aren’t they still together?” This was a constant with joe. I think this was just at the end for Calvin and the answer was they weren’t still together.

7) relaunch so everyone is excited to see them again. Steps 6-7 happened a lot with Joe naturally because of the privacy narrative. Will travlor get to this stage? I think so but it will be much accelerated. Like nothing for a week and people will wonder. Then, bang, she’s there again. Something like that.

8) ongoing: periodically lightly escalate the seriousness of the relationship. We’re already in this stage and it will continue. There is current chatter about her house shopping in KC. The usual (she actually BOUGHT a house one time for a man. And remember her Scottish castle, and how she and joe were constantly buying a London house for 6 years including furniture shopping right before they broke up?) And there will be constant talk of settling down and getting engaged.

9) and on and on until it ends. We could zoom through these stage over the next 2 weeks, or in seemingly endless loop of stages 6-9 for two years. No way to know until it ends or they get married, have 10 kids and teach them how to dream.

10) optional: black swan event. All bets are off.

I think it’s likely she’ll go to a couple of more games, and be seen spending as much time with him as reasonably possible before her next tour date. They need to “get to know each other” and “enjoy this fun honeymoon stage while they’re both smitten” while she can. Keep in mind her SA tour section is only 3 weeks long, and he could even potentially go to Argentina on his off week, so that’s not really enough time for the “their busy schedules were too much” excuse. Possible but you know not as likely. Then she’s off for for a couple of months again. Imagine the fun they can have over Christmas. We’ll skip the island vacation around new years or star-studded New Year’s party this time because he’ll still be playing football, so imagine her at playoff games. She’s getting literal millions of dollars in almost free publicity from this, and no matter how many people want to say she’s getting negative attention or being over-exposed or whatever, I don’t see it that way at all. It’s going very very well. All for the price of a few hours of her time and some jet fuel. So, like I didn’t see any reason for her to end it with joe because he was serving his purpose, I see no reason for this to end. Until she has reached her unknown-to-us goal.

There is a lot I can’t see or know, so these are just my best guesses based on what we’ve seen so far and what I see on their schedule for the next few months, and of course, my belief that this relationship not real.

#I also want to note that most of this is what’s done for more ‘real’ relationships #two celebs start dating and decide to go full PR power couple while they’re at it. #most celebs are celebs because they are attention seekers and understand publicity and PR are part of the job #a lot of people accept this which makes Travlor seem plausible. even if they are using it for publicity #it could still be real

Glitch is such an interesting song. It is one of Taylor’s most Kaylor songs ever.

We were supposed to be just friends = I don’t see how this could be about Toe? She supposedly met him in the Met Gala was eyeing him, THEN hooked up with Tom? Also decided to hook up with Toe in the way? How were they supposed to be friends when in High Infidelity she said she was aiming for a hook up with Toe to forget about Calvin’s behavior (even tho the truth is, she actually did that with Tom not Toe lmao). How was she aiming for a friendship here??? Like if they work colleagues, maybe. The narrative isn’t even making sense.

You don’t live in my part of town/ But maybe I’ll see you out some weekend = This lyric clearly means this person lives in the SAME country but not the same town/city/area. It doesn’t mean that this person is from another country all together. Also the maybe I’ll see you out some weekend. Toe is based in London, how, at the time, would she randomly see him out some weekend? Like how did she know this could happen, if it depends on whether he is actually in the US or not.

You have to be living in the same country/area or someone who moves a lot like T&K to cross paths with people. Also you’re likely American if you move between NY, LA and Nash. Toe was/is still a very small actor and I don’t see him going from NY to LA to Nashville? Lmao, I can’t see how this is directed at him at all. On the other hand, Karlie and Taylor are people that could VERY likely cross paths and meet.

Another very important point. Taylor was traveling the world with Tom at the time. I know she was just getting those pap pics and moving on with her day, BUT, how did she even manage to see Toe around anywhere? Like HOW? She was all over the world. When did she make the time for him?

There is this myth of Taylor living with Toe in London even tho this has no concrete facts. It is way more convenient for Taylor to be based in the US as she mainly works and records her music there. I don’t see why would she do that. On the other hand, we have ACTUAL proof of Karlie convincing Taylor to move to NY to be closer to her. “You don’t live in my part of town” so what she did is she moved to her lover’s part of town.

When she says “our love black-out”, it’s such a tricky lyric and she put it there to make it go with the public narrative (that doesn’t even make any sense) but the people who care to know are aware of what it means. BUT when Jack in the background sings “our love is blacking-out”… it just doesn’t make sense. It can’t be about Toe.

Blacking-out definition is = to become unconscious suddenly but for a short period. A love that became unconscious suddenly (2016) but only for some time. How can this apply to her relationship with JA? They are in a public relationship, she is “supposedly” writing songs about him left and right. How is their love “blacking out”.

When someone blacks out, it means they are completely unaware of anything that happens around the time they blacked out. All they see is black. It means something or someone is gone for sometime then they are back again after a while. Ehm.

Glitch/System is breaking down = who is a model that is involved with coding/creating systems? Bruh.

A love that is suddenly unconscious but for a period of time. God, how can she be more clear?

Good post. I interpret the love black-out to mean the public black-out of Kaylor's relationship. They went dark (out of the public eye).

task 003: 

chrissy goes to christopher’s funeral alone. there was no way she wouldn’t attend. the familiarity is palpable, the procession of people following along with a casket that holds someone they loved so dearly, someone who should still be alive. christopher nash was a person -- just like her brother, like patrick, like cindy. a person who only a couple of weeks ago was laughing, smiling, creating a future for themselves and it was ripped away for what? for nothing. for no reason. the sky in hawkins is bleak as chrissy silently walks behind the rows of townspeople, behind his family, his friends. it’s not the first time they’ve been there and the sickening fact is that it might not be the last. 

there are faces she recognizes in the crowd and there are tears spilling from some of their eyes, others can’t bear to look up at the coffin as it’s being brought out, and chrissy eventually looks away herself -- her eyes stinging as she stares at the grass. it’s only when she hears faint muttering among a few people in front of her that she sees her own parents a couple aisles ahead, her mother clutching a handkerchief to her eyes while her father wraps an arm around her shoulders. they seem so sad but chrissy tastes bitterness on her tongue that she forces herself to swallow back. 

it doesn’t feel real to see them. it feels forced that they’re there but she can’t say that. no one would understand what she meant by it.

chrissy can’t focus for most of the service but she provides her condolences as quietly as she can, not wanting or needing anyone to ask her in some twisted way how she’s feeling. she doesn’t want to talk about how she’s feeling. she lays a small cluster of flowers by christopher’s grave and wipes her eyes on the back of her hand, breathing out the smallest ‘i’m sorry’ as she walks by. there isn’t much she can do, nothing she can say, but she does take one last look at christopher’s family before separating herself from the crowd. 

with her hands clutching at her black dress, chrissy makes the short walk over to the other side of the cemetery and finds calvin’s grave as it always is. the last set of flowers -- tulips because they were his favorite -- she left there is still perched by his birth date and there’s a bird idling on the top of the gravestone watching her. she steps closer and runs her hand along the etching of his name, her tears sliding down and making tracks onto her face. no one’s watching her and that’s how she prefers it. she prefers the silence these days. 

“hey you, sorry I haven’t come by in a while.” she tells the wind, sighing as she sits down by the plot and slides her purse into her lap. a notebook is tucked into the small bag and she pulls it out, the tears wetting the first page she pulls open. chrissy couldn’t begin to explain why she was doing this but it felt like she had to, like she needed to let it out before she exploded. 

dear mom and dad,

I know I could tell you all this face to face. I could go back home and yell in your faces but what good will it do? you’ve never listened to me. you didn’t back then when i tried to tell you eddie was innocent, when i tried to tell the police that something was wrong, and you won’t listen now. all that mattered to you was keeping up appearances. I saw that today when you cried for christopher. both of you were always so good at pretending you cared about something other than yourselves. 

you never asked how I was doing after we lost calvin. I thought maybe if you saw how destroyed I was, you’d hold me or you’d tell me it was all going to be okay but you only cried with me because they were all watching you. they have no idea how you treated calvin and me when no one was around. 

and maybe it should have been me. maybe that’s what you wanted all along. 

calvin was still so young. he had so much to offer the world and me? I don’t know if I have anything to offer anyone anymore. I lost myself somewhere and I don’t know how to find her again. I lost my parents, my brother, jason -- i lost everything I loved and I can’t get it back. Because i can’t love jason like this. I can’t bring myself to love myself half the time. and even now that i’m away from you, I’m still not perfect. I’m not the right daughter or friend or girlfriend or anything, am I? But i want to be. I want to be better than you in every way imaginable. I just don’t know how to do that. 

but I don’t need anything from you anymore. I can do this without you and I guess maybe I always could. there’s just so much I still want to know and now I won’t get the chance to ask you because I’d rather live with the doubt than ever see either of your faces again. I blame you for what happened to him and maybe that’s awful of me but I do. I can’t help it.

I just want to know -- did you love him? because I’ve accepted now that you probably never loved more than you had to. i was your daughter, you didn’t have a choice but did you love him? i hope to whatever god is out there that you did because he deserved to be loved by everyone around him. he deserved better from you. i deserved better from you but i don’t mourn the loss of our family anymore. i mourn the fact that calvin will never experience the beautiful things life still had in store for him.

if i live long enough, maybe i’ll have enough beautiful memories to share with calvin when i see him again. maybe when we’re both gone, you’ll finally realize what you lost.

until then, I guess it’s goodbye.

I’m going to make this right.’ and she crumples up that envelope, trashing the pieces and stomping on them with her heels. chrissy cunninghmam might not be the best or the most perfect but she can be stronger than this. she has to be, for him. for them. for herself.
