Nitrogen Hypoxia: Alabama to Execute Prisoners with Unusual New Method"
Nitrogen Hypoxia: Alabama to Execute Prisoners with Unusual New Method” Alabama is seeking to become the first state to execute a prisoner using a method that has never been used before. The state plans to put death row inmate Kenneth Eugene Smith to death by nitrogen hypoxia, which involves forcing the inmate to breathe only nitrogen. This deprives them of oxygen and causes them to…

“Nga bawoza baziza omusango ogwobutakolera Kabaka” Approx. Translation: Guys accused of not showing up to work for the King pleading their case. My interpretations stretch the topic while delivering artistic visuals unencumbered by context. Sometimes delightful, sometimes gnarly, sublime is the word here. Certain prints of my digital collage art may be acquired via @stellenboschtriennale, and mostly @afriartgallery. Here is another @crumanzi digital collage! An interpretation i have made of a scene described by Hamu Mukasa intended as picture pages to his Simuda Nyuma, one of the earliest recounts of the story of Uganda except the mythical or borderline - mythical stuff. The collages are constructed using my own contemporary photographs, and images from the archive of the Ham Mukasa Family/Foundation. Both the archival images and the Ham Mukasa image list were made accessible by @andreastultiens History In Progress Uganda & Ebifananyi endeavours. #HamMukasa #SimudaNyuma #Ebifananyi #HIPUganda #AndreaStultiens #CanonGriffin #DigitalCollage #remix #KabakaMutesa #Kabaka #KabakaMuteesa #Buganda #HistoryOfUganda #visuallanguage #collage #crimeandpunishment #crimeandjustice #communallabour (at Bulange Mengo) https://www.instagram.com/p/ClEMLH9Lngz/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

PART ONE - THE THIN BLUE LINE IS TEARING... there was a time when I was a normal person, living in the bubble of my own little world, surviving life, paying bills, bringing up my child, and working hard. I took the police for granted, they were the annoying headmaster at the back of my mind making me live within rules, i.e. driving within speed limits. I had no knowledge of what was actually going on around me, what the dangers were, and what they were keeping me safe from. For the past decade or so I’ve been working as a civilian within the police (CID Crime Investigator). I’ve now seen behind the curtain, stepped over the blue line, and been shocked at the world behind it. A world where police quietly protect us from; violence, abuse, trafficking, murder, rape, assaults, fraud, gangs, and all manner of injustices that are out there walking among us, 24/7. It's not just in film and TV, what do you think scriptwriters base their storylines on? Humans are wonderful, but there are some nasty sh*ts out there, we need protecting. ..... see PART TWO on next page. #crime #police #policeofficer #emergencyservices #policefederation #policefamily #lawenforcement #law #government #crimeprevention #crimeandjustice #policefederationofenglandandwales #governmentfunding #homesecretary #britishgovernment #labourparty #conservativeparty #polfed Image by #SCCunningham from #TheGinormousSeries Important Lessons Children's Books https://www.instagram.com/p/ChpWJUSt0VV/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Not all gender norms are as easily smashed.
Some slip through the net of public compassion, and none more so than the antiquated stereotype that ‘men cannot be victims of domestic abuse’, and that ‘women cannot be violent’.
Yes, it’s true...
Women can be breadwinners and career animals, CEOs and political leaders, high fliers, and business moguls, every bit as successful, smart, and innovative as their male peers.
And the outdated ideas of womanhood, that disallowed such things, are the stereotypes we all love to smash, stomp down, and kick into the dirt.
As we should.
But what about women’s capacity - not for roaring Fortune500 success - but their capacity for violence, and abuse?
And what about men’s capacity to be the victim of such things?
But dare utter the idea of violent women.
And there it is… Silence.
Nothing.
Where have all the whoops and cheers, the grandstanding, and pats on the back gone?
And where are our noble champions of women’s autonomy?
Why has the feminist movement, that lead the vanguard of fighting gender norms, been so reluctant to confront this one?
Or worse, why do so many of these people protect such stereotypes themselves?
In time, people have finally come to accept that men can be abused by women, but often with the caveat that these men are ‘not often injured’, or ‘they don’t fear abuse as women do’.
But yet again, the most recent data exposes these ideas as yet more harmful gender norms – the norms that most of society are too gutless, or disinterested, to confront.
So I ask you, why are we so reluctant to discuss violent women, and vulnerable men?
And who pays the price for our unwillingness to talk about them?

For the online keyboard warrior who doesn't get paid, the dishonesty is much easier to explain. They've built an entire edifice of claims - and their entire personality around those claims - based on a specific model of how the world works. When the world doesn't just not work according to that model, but runs directly counter to that model, the entire model falls into disrepute. And that puts the person's entire identity, built on sand, at risk.
This is not unlike how when Xians admit that Genesis is not literally true, the rest of the bible quickly collapses. The resuit, in both cases, is post hoc rescues, rationalisations, contradictions, fallacies and outright lies (e.g. "there's no evidence for evolution," or "all female violence is self-defence").
The model must be protected at all costs, no matter how bogus, in order to protect the adherent's identity.

It is extremely sad what happened to Brianna, but the fact people have jumped on saying she was killed because she was trans without a released statement of evidence is just feeding the fear-mongering machine.
Two 15-year-olds have been charged. Could it be transphobic related? We don't know that yet. Currently, the UK (England and Wales specifically) reports a knife crime involving young people every few months or so. Last year 3,490 10-17 year olds were charged with a knife crime offence.
In England and Wales, 679 homicides were recorded last year (ending June 2022). 7/10 were male (72%), 3/10 female (28%). 91% of male murders were committed by a male, and 95% of female murders were committed by a male. 38% of murders was due to knife crime or a sharp object.
Knives and sharp objects were used in 75% of teenage murders. In the last 12 months, in England, 51 teenagers were murdered due to knife crime or a sharp object.
This is 1 incident out of 679. 1/ 282 for knife crime, and 1/51 amongst young people. The problem is knife crime. We need to look at why some young people think it's okay to just attack someone they don't like. The societal issue here is more than a hatred towards trans people.

PT 6 - Journaling Your Response to Advertising
"We’re Never Lost If We Can Find Each Other" by Facebook
The video advertisement featured in the provided link is a public service announcement (PSA) that brings attention to the issue of domestic violence during the pandemic. The advertisement shows deserted streets of London and other famous landmarks, emphasizing the silence and loneliness of the ongoing lockdown. It is later revealed that the silence is an illusion, and for many families, it's the sound of abuse. The campaign's primary message is to urge people to look out for those in their community who may be experiencing domestic abuse and offer help.
The intended audience of the advertisement is the general public, but specifically, it targets those who are at home during the pandemic. It urges them to look out for signs of abuse and offer help to those who need it. It also aims to create awareness of the issue and reduce the stigma attached to reporting domestic violence. It encourages viewers to recognize that domestic violence is not only physical abuse but also psychological, financial, and emotional abuse. The product advertised is not necessarily a tangible product but a call to action. The ad encourages people to come forward and report any suspected cases of domestic violence, offer support to those in need, and seek help for themselves if they are in an abusive situation. The campaign's message is a critical reminder that during the pandemic, many individuals are trapped with their abusers and may not have the resources or support to leave. There are no forms of media manipulation present in the advertisement. The video's power lies in its simplicity and effectiveness in conveying its message. It uses a combination of imagery, text, and sound to create a powerful and thought-provoking message. The ad captures the attention of the viewer by first showing deserted streets of London, a common sight during the pandemic, and then revealing the darker side of lockdown - the reality of domestic violence.
In conclusion, the Trapped with an Abuser ad campaign is a potent reminder of the grim reality of domestic violence during the pandemic. It is a well-crafted message that raises awareness of the issue and urges viewers to take action. By using simple imagery and sound, the ad creates a sense of empathy and highlights the urgency of the situation. It is an excellent example of an advertisement that has created a striking impact with a small budget.

"Coca Cola : Open Like Never Before" by Coca Cola
The advertisement is a campaign by Coca-Cola and George The Poet titled "Open Like Never Before," which encourages individuals to use the lockdown period as an opportunity for self-improvement and positive change. The campaign focuses on the positive aspects of lockdown, highlighting the lessons learned during this time, and the importance of appreciating the little things in life. The advertisement also pays tribute to the people who played a significant role in the pandemic and the services that helped during the worst of the pandemic. The campaign's tone is optimistic and hopeful, highlighting life's silver linings.
The intended audience for this campaign is the general public, particularly individuals who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown measures that were implemented as a response. The campaign's focus on positivity and self-improvement aims to inspire individuals to embrace change and find hope during these challenging times. While the campaign features Coca-Cola, it does not explicitly promote the consumption of the product. Instead, the reference to Coca-Cola serves as a reminder that we can find joy and happiness in the little things, such as sharing a bottle of Coca-Cola with loved ones. Therefore, it cannot be said that the product is necessarily good or bad for the target audience, as it is not the primary focus of the campaign.
The campaign uses simple videography and focuses on the positive aspects of the lockdown to capture the viewer's attention. There is no overt manipulation present in the ad. However, it is worth noting that the campaign was released towards the tail end of the UK's initial lockdown period, which could be seen as a calculated move to capitalize on the feelings of unity and positivity that were prevalent at the time. Additionally, the double (or perhaps triple) entendre of the campaign's title could be construed as a subtle reference to the Coca-Cola product itself. Overall, the ad manages to capture the viewer's attention by focusing on the positives and inspiring hope during a challenging time.

PART TWO - I am thankful for the brave officers who walk into that dark world at the shout of command, at times single-crewed, not knowing what they’ll see (some images never leave you), whom they’ll meet, how many, what their intentions are, what their mental state is (drugged, drunk, suicidal), if they’re armed, what they’re capable of, and whether they and their colleagues will make it home to their families at the end of that shift. All while being shouted at, spat at, and given constant abuse.  Like the wonderful NHS staff, they worked through COVID, I salute them and all our emergency workers. I think it’s now time we civilians understood what's been happening to the future of our, and our children’s, security. When Theresa May was Home Secretary £50M was taken from the police budget, the aftermath of which is being experienced now, our police service has slowly been run to the ground. The thin blue line is paper thin, it’s tearing. Stations are understaffed, under-resourced, and do not have the tools for the job. Custody blocks have been closed, courts are backlogged, and the criminals are winning. Officers and civilian staff are overworked, suffering from mental health (some suicidal), and leaving in their droves. Courts are failing and communities are not getting the service they need or pay for. For years the privileged government has been asked to help rebuild but to no avail. It’s time that we civvies spoke out, used our voice, and asked them to listen, to do what they're paid for - if they can stop squabbling amongst themselves for a moment... (sigh!)   #crime #police #policeofficer #emergencyservices #policefederation #policefamily #lawenforcement #law #government #crimeprevention #crimeandjustice #policefederationofenglandandwales #governmentfunding #homesecretary #britishgovernment #labourparty #conservativeparty #polfed Image by #SCCunningham from #TheGinormousSeries Important Lessons Children's Books https://www.instagram.com/p/ChpV3MUtzJ3/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

There is nothing wrong with being mindful of your own personal safety.
We all have a right to feel uncomfortable, and to act accordingly. It’s okay to cross the road to avoid others, I do this myself.
So too we should all be mindful of how we can make others feel safer when walking home at night – this is just basic common decency.
But what isn’t okay; is to fear monger, vilify and create a cultural panic around ‘men’ as a group.
To talk about men as if they’re monsters forever lurking the shadows; comparing experiences with men to walking through a room of snakes, or swimming in a shark tank, and yes, eating from a bowl of poisoned M&Ms.
This is not advocacy. This is ignorance, and hate.
Neither do such thought experiments help women ‘feel safe’ either. In fact, such terrifying analogies will likely make them feel the opposite.
Neither do you get to tell men (who are at a significantly higher risk), that they can walk the streets at whatever time they like, without fear or consequence – under the protective shield of so called ‘male privilege’.
Walking home at night is not an opportunity for you to inject your bigoted political ideas around men, or stoke fear and division.
I am tired of it.
I am tired of the endless pearl clutching.
I am tired of seeing the conversation of violent crime centred on highly privileged millionaire celebrity women, who are not at risk, and taken away from those who are – which is young, inner city, working class black boys.
I am tired of the conversation making no effort to understand what shapes violent crime, or how to reduce it, to instead fan the flames of a gender war.
I am tired of seeing tragic stories hijacked for political ends, to become yet another bludgeon to hit ‘yes all men’ with.
It is boring. It is divisive. And most of all, it doesn’t achieve anything.
So let’s look at the numbers, for a more reasonable and evidence based insight into violent crime.

Xians will thank their god for everything good in their lives, but are pathologically incapable of blaming it for the bad things that happen. It's either "free will" or "Satan" or some other excuse. This is hypocritical.
If you blame men as a category for violent crime, then you can also give credit to men as a category for the decline of violent crime over the years. To not do so would also be hypocritical.
Or you just blame the extreme minority who are actually responsible.
And if you're still like, nope, changes nothing, then okay. But just do one thing for me. Type: "I'm justified crossing the road when I encounter..." Then go look up violent crime by race, pro rata it, and see how you feel about finishing that sentence. I dare you. If one would make you feel racist about making assumptions about and blaming all members of one group, then the other should also make you feel sexist about making assumptions about and blaming all members of another group.
In fact, such terrifying analogies will likely make them feel the opposite.
This is, of course, a feature not a bug. Women's fear is a valuable political and ideological commodity.
"... as we know from the war on drugs and the war on terror, for those in the business of providing protection, high threat levels are bread and butter. Likewise, for those in the business of healing race relations, racial division is your sworn enemy but your secret friend—so much so that wounding and healing become part of the same operation." -- Lyell Asher, "Why Colleges Are Becoming Cults."
The same thing applies here. The point of stupid analogies and stories is the same as the threat of hell: to control and manipulate, to gain authority by building dependence through fostering fear.
When someone is encouraging you to be afraid, stop for a moment and ask yourself, why. What do they get out of it?
