Tw: medical restricted diet
I’ve reached the stage of the clear liquid diet where all my other chronic ailments are kicking off in spectacular fashion.
Walls spinning, heart racing, head pounding. I have no idea how people do this regularly to lose weight.
I know my doctor said to try and do 72 hours to hopefully avoid another dose of antibiotics but I’m calling it. I did 48 hours of nothing but vegetable broth and the pain is gone. If my insides rebel I’ll take the antibiotics and hope like fuck I don’t get c-diff.
Fucking Christ I want a robot body.

Incense for the Gods: Hermes 🪙
This in an ongoing series of making incense blends for the Greek Gods. The idea is that scents are pleasant to humans but also to Gods and they make for ana amzing offering you can just make once, put in a jar and use for many months with no issue.
At first I just kind of imagined what would be cool, this is actually making the incense blend (you can find everything in my pinned post).
So here is Hermes! ✈️ God of all trades, be it travelers, communication, movement, thieves, bringer of Joy and guide of Souls.
What I used:
Saffron: unfortunately only had powder form, would be better to have the higher quality twigs-like things, but that's all i had. So saffron is actually made from crocus flowers and is sacred to Hermes. It looks red but is actually a powerful way to dye things in a yellow reminiscent of gold and all things precious and joyful.
Cinnamon: associated with heat and abundance, I like associating it with him although it seems to be more of a recent association. Nevertheless, it is a very stimulating spice that symbolically works extremely well for the God that never stops moving.
Lavender: this is strangely a more calming herb that I associate with his role of Guide of Souls and warden of Sleep and Dreams. Plus it seems to come often as an UPG for many people. It smells lovely, even when burnt.
Golden Benzoin: This specific type of benzoin has a very sweet scent and a yellow color, both things that I personally associate with Hermes. I also pretty much always add one of the ''classical'' incense such as myrrh, olibanum and benzoin in my blends because they feel very ritualistic and grounding for some reason.
The results:
I ended up taking out a whole cinnamon stick and only grinding two because it smelled just so strongly i was afraid it was going to overpower everything else.
When I burnt it OMG it smells awesome. Very warm and cozy but the lavender adds a touch of freshness. Even the blend itself without being burnt smells delicious.
So yeah 5/5 might be my favorite one as of yet :)

The Gods' myths sometimes include horrific or immoral aspects. That doesn't mean we should behave as if those myths dont exist!
(A Pagan perspective)
Tumblr media
(tw: sa, misogyny)
When we are faced with myths that no longer fit in modern moral views (such as so much SA in Greek mythology alone there's a whole Wikipedia page on it) we should not shy away! Even if we don't like or approve of it, it's a part of the Gods' history and mythos.
All mythology is written by humans, and as such is unavoidably a product of its time. The way that anyone (including modern pagans) interprets the Gods as entities, or any interaction with them, is limited within our own culture, time period, and personal beliefs. By examining both the beliefs of the present and the past, we can decide for ourselves how we see the Gods while considering the context their myths were written in.
Even within one time period or similar group of people, such as modern pagans today, interpretations of the Gods can vary widely.
Zues is a cheating rapist. He is also a powerful god of the skies, lightning, and order.
Lucifer is literally the devil. An evil liar full of sins. And yet he is enlightening, independent, and honest.
Freyja is constantly associated (some say reduced) to sex. She uses her body for her gain, and is quite canonically called a slut. At the same time, she's the goddess of women! Of female power, both in mental skill and physical strength. She leads the Valkyries.
Loki is dark and deceptive, bringer of Ragnarok-- and he's a deity of change and freedom.
And neither is wrong. In mythology, both are true.
The Gods, all their aspects, and all the texts we have of them are complicated, complex, multifaceted, and interpretive- of course, there will be various understandings within pagan practices. No one view is superior to the other. Our understandings all exist on a scale, or rather some sort of mashup, of how important and what importance we attribute to various myths and aspects of deities.
When I worshipped Hera, I did so in two 'versions'. 1. Hera as resistance against men and abuse. I found solace and connection with her in powerful womanhood and female rage. I prayed to her before attending a pro-choice rally. And 2. Hera as a symbol of deep love, power, and marriage, and commitment. I lit her candle when my partner was over or when I needed a confidence boost.
These aspects never felt conflicting to me. Separate, maybe (I certainly wasn't thinking of any cheating or abuse in mythology as overlapping with the love and commitment)- but just part of one THING. Of Hera and everything surrounding her.
To many other deities of various 'immoral' aspects, these conflicting elements aren't just both present but often integral to their presence and worship.
Lucifer is often worshipped in rebellion. In healing from oppressive Christianity and finding light and understanding in that darkness.
Freyja is sexual! One of her many aspects. (which by the way, should not be seen as immoral. looking at yall, bs tumblr feminists) There is pleasure, joy, and power to be found in reclaiming that part of women we are told is shameful.
Loki is so much at once. He is outcast and destructive, and within that he spurs necessary change and chaos. So many pagans look to her as a symbol of queerness in the broadest sense and in facing the necessary chaos of growth.
TLDR: Don't just ignore aspects of mythology that feel uncomfortable (obviously unless something like trauma is involved). There is a lot to learn both from understanding the time and context their myths were written in as well as self-reflection on how certain myths or aspects of deities fit (or don't fit) within your practice.

LOL another ask, sorry. How do you get your info? Did you study Japanese (I know some losers can ruin the pool, but I think any education is still good)? Or was it just hyper specific MP100 lore? Epic, either way
god I WISH I knew japanese, but no it's just good old fashioned research! my chosen field of academics is linguistics, so this sort of thing is right up my alley. I noticed that japanese has interesting rules for honorifics and how you refer to people, and then before I knew it, the autism had kicked in and I had read several articles on japanese honorifics. I don't know as much as people who actually know japanese! I just know as much as I can learn through google and the power of hyperfixating really hard

Hi Joy! I hope your week has started out well for you.
I had a curiosity question about hospital stays, and I understand if it’s not something you’d want to talk about so please ignore if now is not a good time (and thanks for reading this far 🙂) Possible triggers: eating, medical diet limitations, hospital stays
My question is how the hell do you survive in the hospital? I’m hopefully on my last day of a stay due to dangerous low platelet counts (they’re finally responding to treatment so 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 for me moving back to outpatient monitoring). I also have heart issues and am on a low sodium diet which has been impossible to eat most of what is on their menu. Even most of the meals marked heart healthy are outside my sodium limits! It’s been so frustrating having to build lists of what I can actually have I feel like I’m gonna pull my hair out if I get told no one more time on something that should be fine but comes with a dumb salt packet 😭
I wasn’t sure if you or any of your followers would have any tips on making any future stays more tolerable and less hungry, but knowing what you’ve shared about your history I was hoping there was some wisdom or just yeah hospitals are awful with food.
I’m sorry you’ve been dealing with that. The sad truth is, hospitals are not well-equipped to handle a lot of dietary restrictions. Every time they offered me something I had to remind them of all my allergies/gastro issues. One time it resulted in the only thing they were able to bring me being a cup of ice 🙃
Myself and others with MCAS are often reliant on bringing our own snacks or if we’re there for longer, relying on others bringing us food, though since Covid, I’m not sure if that's still allowed. It's not a great system, but that's what we deal with.
Hopefully, some others in the notes will have some more ideas!

Of all the Nintendo character's (though, mostly Mario :P), did you have any absolute favs? Or did certain lovable traits vary from character to character?
Ngl, I did put this ask aside for a while because I'm not really sure what you are referring to...
Are you talking about all Nintendo franchises? Or which characters from all of Nintendo that I like best?
