top five second leads?
i do love a good second lead!! going to go with second leads who gave me second lead syndrome the most:
dong mae, mr. sunshine. if he was the male lead, that ship had literally every single one of my dynamics. reminds me a lot of like, if renji and rukia from bleach were imported into a kdrama but renji instead of joining the grim reaper cops instead became yakuza A+++++
xiang liu, lost you forever. he is HORRIBLE husband material, but he's everything in a 90s anime villain romance wattpad, is very gender, and a problematic fave
wang jung, moon lovers: scarlet heart ryeo. he kind of? gets the girl in the end, but gd at what cost???
jiang wu, the legends. see entry #2 -- i apparently have a type when it comes to cdrama
runyu, ashes of love. i dont think he shouldve got the girl because he had a whole laundry list of issues, but LYX brought so much to this role that the character deservedly stole the show
bonus, other SLSers: baek in ho (cheese in the trap), kim shin hyuk (she was pretty), wu bosong (a love so beautiful), probably saya (arthdal chronicles, TBD)
favorite second leads just because they are good characters (non-romantic options or in another ship from the main leads)
yang hye sun, my roommate is a gumiho. she stole the show for me!!!
yoo jin gook, the smile has left your eyes. the only man brave enough to say "get a job! stay away from her!"
he ziqui, go ahead. i loved all of the main trio, but he was definitely my favorite character in go ahead
jisu, jae heon, and eun hyuk, sweet home. great ensemble cast, but these three were my favorites!
princess leyan & hao du, the long ballad. i completely gave up on this drama around ep 12, but i still watched all their scenes. best ship best ship i wish they had their own dramaaaaaaa

List of Idols and Actors I know or follow
🟪◼🟦◼🟩◼🟨◼🟧◼🟥◼🟪◼🟦◼🟩◼🟨◼🟧◼🟥
Disclaimer
I strongly urge you to take all the tarot readings on this account lightly. All the posts are intended to have an entertaining nature, they are pure speculations and completely made up by me. I can never ever guarantee any of it and you should never take any of the tarot readings for granted. I would like to stress that I know no idol nor actor personally, I never met any of them and all those readings are fictional, imagins, make believe and hypothetical scenarios. Do not base any of your life decisions on a tarot reading only, always use your common sense. If you have issues with tarot cards for religious or other reasons, do not engage in reading my posts.
When you make a request take my life into consideration and be patient. I’m a responsible adult with a full time job, dog, family, friends, duties, house chores and requests from other sources. All these take my time. Also reading tarot cards requires a certain mood, vibe and concentration, it can’t be done just anytime. Count on the time delays, please. I will do my best to complete your requests.
I’m always willing to help out if you yourself consider taking on tarot cards as a hobby. Feel free to ask if you have any inquiries about it, no question is dumb. I don’t know everything but will try to help the best I can.

EXCLUSIVES & MAINS & CONNECTIONS~
This nifty lil post will list rp partners and FCs of their muses that, since I am so deeply enamoured with their muses and can't stop associating the faces they chose for said muses, I can't find it in me to have given (or all) blorbos of mine interact with anybody else.
BLOG-WIDE
Lee Dong-wook | @jeoseungsaja From main verse to verse 5, Alex's MASSIVE BRAIN has made me wholly incapable of throwing any of my blorbos at any Lee Dong-wook that aren't her magnificent Jeoseungsaja, Wang Yeo, Lee Hyuk. He is simply That Binch. Kaeden's older brother, Kim Shin's spouse and/or housemate, Sarang's victim, Rang's actual half-brother, you name it.
Débora Nascimento | @fatalhymn The mythvoiced blorbos have spoken, every muse who meets Amelia falls in love with her, romantically or platonically as may be, or is otherwise so obsessed with her I am starting to fear for their mental health. Ami's Amelia Stella Sinclair is the fruit of some of the sexiest, most incredible character building I've ever seen and I can't disassociate her face from her. Dude, I even forget Miss Nascimento does not have freckles.
MUSE-SPECIFIC
Lee Joon-gi | @theimpalpable for Ji Hyun, as Yeong Boram. He's a rain prince, an azure dragon, who's story with Hyun starts in captivity in ancient times and re-blossoms now in the present, when they turn from memory to constant, present and future. Boram is Hyun's soulmate and Hyun is single-ship with him.
Harry Lloyd | @/theimpalpable for Corey Atwell, as Domenic Lachlan. A friend, a mentor of sorts, maybe? Left to his own devices with no one to lean on, meeting Domenic, a kind, warm, enthusiastic intellectual willing to experience the joys of discovery and knowledge with him is kind of like... discovering how vast the world is without being afraid of it.
Tom Holland | @/theimpalpable for Kaeden, as Wilder B. Summers. Wilder is perhaps everything to Kaeden, most definitely is. He's his best friend, his sweet cheese, his good-time boy, Kaeden would set the world on fire for him, and hopes to be worthy of his friendship one day.
Park Bo-gum | @/theimpalpable for Han, as So Yong. The feeling of a soft breeze on a hot day, the first drop of rain after months of dry soil, the first sip of water after hours without, the softness of your pillow after a hard day. These are just some of the things Han equals Yong to. And it's very confusing.
Song Joong-ki | @/theimpalpable for Huáng ZhìJiàn, as So Kiheon. Some love prevails for centuries before either party even gets to call it love. A-Jiàn has never forgotten Kiheon and each day he may get closer to meeting them again, is a day he feels a little more alive than the previous.
Shin Ha-kyun | @/theimpalpable for Sköll, Sarang & Ajay (in particular), as (Kim) Nae-Gil. For Sarang and Ajay, Nae-Gil is but a name on a list. A Knight, one of those deserted, hell, Ajay might not even know who he is, Sarang might only be familiar with what he's capable of. A Knight of the Order he still was, and that connection will always remain. To Sköll, though, he's a little more than that. He makes him feel alive in the same way two flames uniting to create a wildfire create life in their own way.
You WILL most definitely find other Alex muses on this list one day, I am obsessed with her stuff, I'll nab it all.
Lee Sun-mi | @uroborosymphony for Sarang, as Calixtus 'Calista' Orion, because Lynnie said I was allowed~ immortal terrorist girlfriends, the breath of snarled and maniacally cackled air that fanned the flame in Sarang's soul back to life and reminded her that living is just, living is fair, and taking what is hers even more so, perhaps even at her side, by the side of the one woman to occupy the centre of her mind.
Shin Sung-rok/SF9's Hwiyoung | @clemencetaught Blog-wide. Here's the thing. Patrick Grace, Shin Myungdae, I am a little obsessed with what Ferre is doing with this person. Every verse, every minute interaction I have with him, because I haven't even gotten to interact with him all that much (or as much as I'd like to, anyway, hehehehe~) follows me to the end of my days. With Eunjae, with Sarang, the plotting we're doing with Maria, smaller threads like the one with Seok-ju, he's incredible. All of Ferre's work around this person makes me gasp. I had to visit their notion because I did not for the life of me remember the FC's name, in typical Len fashion, I completely forgot that wasn't just... you know, Patrick. So yeah. If I see another Shin Sung-rok, in particular, anywhere else, I will think it's Patrick.
Hoang Quyen | @stillresolved for Samuel, as Mana Minh Huynh, on one hand because even while I write Samuel very rarely because he's a little more difficult to get muse for, Mana is already impacting him in ways I could have never hoped for to the point where I'm discovering things about him I had no idea were in him, on the other hand because I just? I can't... it's? I don't shout about Mana a lot because I feel almost undeserving, and inappropriate in treating her the way I would... stanning anime characters. She's... so much more, she makes me want to treat her in all the seriousness of ancient Greek philosophers. She's incredible. She's "The Only Hoang Quyen" to put it in a weird way (I'm collecting Ferre characters the way I collect Alex characters, BEST BELIEVE).
CONNECTIONS/MAINS
These are characters who I wouldn't claim mutual exclusivity with because I'm a too chicken and forgetful to ask, but they've become very vital connections to my muses and as such, while I'd never demand anything in turn, there is no pressure or obligation here to do the same with connections here as I do because I am Insane about y'all's characters, your muses are very dear to me and as such these here listed characters will at the very least most definitely be the first names associated with the listed faces.
Jing Boran | @wantedformanysins for Chul-soo, as Nathan Chen, because don't you just love a messy 'we used to be lovers but not really then we split and now you invited me as your boyfriend to spend Christmas with you because you didn't tell your mother we split?' plot? There's a lot more to that, obviously, because Dex is one of the greatest minds you'll ever meet, her plotting capabilities are through the ROOF. The violence she makes me feel, soft aggression about how amazing it is. It's... I can't even put it into words it's just... oof.
Liam Samuels | @zodiachild for Nathaniel & Diana, as Aziz Khan. Again, Dex just... plots MASSIVE things okay. Love stories spanning for centuries, stockfull of the most violently incredible details and facets, Aziz is such an incredible fucking character, the lore iS INSANE, and Nathaniel & Diana are both so stupid about him, so absolutely gone, so insane about him, can't really expect me to not add him here~
Nana Komatsu | @wellfell BLOGWIDE, as Mori Akina, let me count all the ways I would commit heinous crimes for Akina, I have been so obsessed with this woman even beyond having Karube interact with her in so many painful, sexy, incredible ways, amplified by the way Nassy writes to kill, I'm not even sure if I got the FC's name right because it's just Akina™. I'm literally doing research on Ringu to understand her better, do you understand, I am considering buying it, do you understand.
AND!! LIST WILL BE UPDATED!! When I write things down in one sitting I will end up forgetting, so I'll come back~ Also in case FCs change~ There are some I didn't add either because they're Patrick/ashbtten related or because I'm shy or because they're in 1x1 threads or or or but hey if you ever feel like we've interacted enough that it would be a CRIME to not find on this list, we can always chit chat about it >:3

One of the most original time-travel thrillers since 12 Monkeys. A brilliant subversion of the Time Paradox trope, with enough plot twists to keep you entertained until well after the movie is finished. Predestination is an amazing movie with great performances from Ethan Hawke and Sarah Snook. It’s a movie that will feel like Inception, when it comes to messing with your mind and barely anyone has heard of it. It is highly underrated and unknown, sadly.
4. Train to Busan (2016)
Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Horror, Science Fiction, Thriller
Actor: Ahn So-hee, An So-hee, Baek Seung-hwan, Cha Chung-hwa, Chang-hwan Kim, Choi Gwi-hwa, Choi Woo-shik, Choi Woo-sung, Dong-seok Ma, Eui-sung Kim, Gong Yoo, Han Ji-eun, Han Sung-soo, Jang Hyuk-jin, Jeong Seok-yong, Jung Seok-yong, Jung Young-ki, Jung Yu-mi, Kim Chang-hwan, Kim Eui-sung, Kim Jae-rok, Kim Joo-heon, Kim Ju-hun, Kim Keum-soon, Kim Soo-ahn, Kim Soo-an, Kim Su-an, Kim Won-Jin, Lee Joo-sil, Lee Joong-ok, Ma Dong-seok, Park Myung-shin, Sang-ho Yeon, Seok-yong Jeong, Shim Eun-kyung, Sohee, Soo-an Kim, Soo-jung Ye, Terri Doty, Woo Do-im, Woo-sik Choi, Ye Soo-jung, Yeon Sang-ho, Yoo Gong, Yu-mi Jeong, Yu-mi Jung

A zombie virus breaks out and catches up with a father as he is taking his daughter from Seoul to Busan, South Korea’s second-largest city. Watch them trying to survive to reach their destination, a purported safe zone.
The acting is spot-on; the set pieces are particularly well choreographed. You’ll care about the characters. You’ll feel for the father as he struggles to keep his humanity in the bleakest of scenarios.
It’s a refreshingly thrilling disaster movie, a perfect specimen of the genre.
3. Serenity (2005)
Genre: Action, Adventure, Science Fiction, Thriller
Actor: Adam Baldwin, Alan Tudyk, Carrie ‘CeCe’ Cline, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Colin Patrick Lynch, David Krumholtz, Demetra Raven, Dennis Keiffer, Elaine Mani Lee, Erik Weiner, Gina Torres, Glenn Howerton, Hunter Ansley Wryn, Jessica Huang, Jewel Staite, Linda Wang, Logan O’Brien, Marcus Young, Mark Winn, Marley McClean, Matt McColm, Michael Hitchcock, Morena Baccarin, Nathan Fillion, Nectar Rose, Neil Patrick Harris, Peter James Smith, Rafael Feldman, Rick Williamson, Ron Glass, Ryan Tasz, Sarah Paulson, Sean Maher, Summer Glau, Tamara Taylor, Terrell Tilford, Terrence Hardy Jr., Tristan Jarred, Weston Nathanson, Yan Feldman

Serenity is a futuristic sci-fi film that serves as a feature-length continuation of the story-line from the TV program Firefly (2002–2003). The story revolves around the captain (Nathan Fillion) and crew of the titular space vessel that operate as space outlaws, running cargo and smuggling missions throughout the galaxy. They take on a mysterious young psychic girl and her brother, the girl carrying secrets detrimental to the intergalactic government, and soon find themselves being hunted by a nefarious assassin (Chiwetel Ejiofor). The first feature-length film from Joss Whedon (The Avengers), Serenity is a lively and enjoyable adventure, replete with large-scale action sequences, strong characterizations and just the right touch of wry humor. An enjoyable viewing experience that stands alone without demanding that you have familiarity with the original program beforehand.
2. Sorry to Bother You (2018)
Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Science Fiction
Actor: Armie Hammer, Danny Glover, David Cross, Ed Moy, Forest Whitaker, James D. Weston II, Jermaine Fowler, John Ozuna, Kate Berlant, Lakeith Stanfield, Lily James, Marcella Bragio, Michael X. Sommers, Molly Brady, Omari Hardwick, Patton Oswalt, Robert Longstreet, Rosario Dawson, Steven Yeun, Teresa Navarro, Terry Crews, Tessa Thompson, Tom Woodruff Jr., Tony Toste, W. Kamau Bell
Director: Boots Riley
Tumblr media
In the year of the Netflix TV Show Maniac, another absurdist title stole critics’ hearts. Sorry to Bother You is a movie set in an alternate reality, where capitalism and greed are accentuated. Lakeith Stanfield (Atlanta) is a guy called Cassius who struggles to pay his bills. However, when at a tele-marketing job an old-timer tells him to use a “white voice”, he starts moving up the ranks of his bizarre society. A really smart movie that will be mostly enjoyed by those who watch it for its entertaining value, and not so much for its commentary. It is like a Black Mirror episode stretched into a movie.
1. Ex Machina (2015)
Genre: Drama, Science Fiction
Actor: Alex Garland, Alicia Vikander, Chelsea Li, Claire Selby, Corey Johnson, Domhnall Gleeson, Elina Alminas, Gana Bayarsaikhan, Oscar Isaac, Sonoya Mizuno, Symara A. Templeman, Symara Templeman, Tiffany Pisani
Director: Alex Garland
Rating: R

Tumblr media
Ex Machina is the directorial debut of Alex Garland, the writer of 28 Days Later (and 28 Weeks Later). It tells the story of Caleb (Domhnall Gleeson from About Time), an IT developer who is invited by a billionaire CEO to participate in a groundbreaking experiment — administering a Turing test to a humanoid robot called Ava (Alicia Vikander). Meeting the robot with feelings of superiority at first, questions of trust and ethics soon collide with the protagonist’s personal views. While this dazzling film does not rely on them, the visual effects and the overall look-feel of Ex Machina are absolutely stunning and were rightly picked for an Academy Award. They make Ex Machina feel just as casually futuristic as the equally stylish Her and, like Joaquin Phoenix, Gleeson aka Caleb must confront the feelings he develops towards a machine, despite his full awareness that ‘she’ is just that. This is possibly as close to Kubrick as anyone got in the 21st century. Ex Machina is clever, thrilling, and packed with engaging ideas.

3 consecutive seasons of winning 3 fit achieved in a new era Allin Gen.G dynasty
3 consecutive seasons of winning 3 fit achieved in a new era Allin Gen.G dynasty
Gen.G's era has arrived in name and reality. Even when "Ruler" Park Jae-hyuk, a franchise star, and "Richens" Son Si-woo, who is called the top supporter, left the team, they succeeded in discovering new growth engines such as "Phase" Kim Soo-hwan and "Delight" Yoo Hwan-joong, making it a team that dominates LCK in 2023.
From last summer's summer season to this summer, he held the top spot by lifting the trophy in three consecutive splits. T1 and D-Plus Kia are the teams that have fallen from LCK to dynasties. Now Gen.G has also firmly established its position as a famous family where the expression "dynasties" is not awkward.
Gen.G won 3-0 in the final match against Summer T1 of the "2023 LOL Champions Korea (LCK)" held at the Daejeon Convention Center in Daejeon on the 20th with a combination of moves and strategic tactics. As a result, Gen.G has won spring and summer in a row since the summer of 2022, setting a meaningful record of winning three consecutive LCK titles for the first time since the team's foundation
Gen.G, who finished second in the regular league, defeated Hanwha Life Insurance in the second round of the playoffs and went straight to the final. Gen.G's opponent in the final was T1. T1 reached the final round of the 2023 LCK Summer Final held on the 19th by playing a neck-and-neck race to the fifth set against KT, the "mobile carrier match."
T1 was decided against Gen.G's final, setting an unprecedented record in LCK history. Gen.G and T1 are the first teams to face off in four straight finals in LCK's 11-year history
Gen.G, who already beat T1 in the 2022 Summer and 2023 Spring Finals, played from the first set of the finals as if he knew the pattern of T1. Gen.G, who had been quiet while focusing on the line match in the beginning, made a series of kills as "Chovy" Jung Ji-hoon's Taliya loosened his feet and won as he widened the gap by more than 15 kills.
Gen.G, who won the second set with a similar pattern, played a difficult game in the third set as he was caught up in T1's resistance. Gen.G, which had widened the kill gap until the middle, allowed a tie, being swayed by the skillful play of T1's "Faker" Lee Sang-hyuk and "Kumayushi" Lee Min-hyung, but won three consecutive splits as he was one step ahead in concentration in the second half
Gen.G's captain, Jungler 'Peanut' Han Wang-ho, has won six LCK titles. This is the second most wins among active players after T1 mid-liner "Faker" Lee Sang-hyuk.
Gen.G, who built the "dynasties" through "Three Fit," was given 200 million won in prize money, while mid-liner "Chovy" Jung Ji-hoon, who performed the play the team wanted, was selected as the final MVP and received 5 million won in prize money. Gen.G will be given a winning ring provided by Tiffany, while MVP Jung Ji-hoon will be given a bracelet. The injuries will be engraved with the names of the players or the names of the summoners
Gen.G's strength can be expressed in that there is no distinction between the players and the coaching staff. Not only the top upper body line, including the team's oldest "Peanut" Han Wang-ho, "Doran" Choi Hyun-joon and "Chovy" Jung Ji-hoon, but also the new bot duo "Faze" Kim Soo-hwan and "Delight" Yoo Hwan-joong show a single medium called "Team."
Depending on the situation, you can freely choose the center of the upper body and the center of the lower body, and the organizational power and cohesion that move thoroughly as a team are excellent. At the center were coach Ko Dong-bin and coach Won Sang-yeon. Coach Ko Dong-bin said, "As I prepared for the finals, I had a feeling of 3-0. The players worked so hard and worked hard on the season. It is a valuable victory that came with the result of hard work. I think you can call us a strong team now. "I'll show you a good performance in the LOL World Cup," he praised the players 파워볼사이트

Review: Squid Game Ep. 2: Hell
Review: Squid Game Ep. 2: Hell
Warning! Spoilers included, but none that will impact the overall viewing of the episode. Ok, so from the plot we know that the organisers of the squid game are not wholesome, planet saving entities, but the start of episode 2, just keeps giving us the helpful reminder of that. Coffins of losers being nailed shut, some with the sounds of those still inside dying as they’re closed before being…

Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (2016)
Kdrama | 20 episodes | 1hr+
A down-on-her-luck gal met a vagabond at a lake and wanted to change her life. She saw a boy about to drown in the lake and rescued him before losing herself in the lake. She managed to get out of the water only to realise that she somehow was transported 1000years into the past and landed in the bathing house of the Goryeo princes.
She is no longer Go Ha Jin from the future. She is now Hae Soo, a 16years old cousin of Lady Hae. Lady Hae is married to Wang Wook, the 8th prince. Through this connection, her world and that of the princes’ collide and she unfortunately becomes embroiled in their struggle for power.
One of my fave scenes where Wang So and Hae Soo had their first snow moments.
Tumblr media
Wang So had to overcome personal losses in order to become a king.
One of his happier moments after becoming King.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is the prophecy coming true? Will he be the one to kill his brothers? My heart stopped at this scene.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was a scene as Hae Soo left the palace and was saying her farewell to Wook and he said “This life is over”, I really thought that she would be somehow transported back to the future…….and she did.
Overall, I enjoyed the character development, storyline and plot twist. The acting was superb. You can cry with this one. Also, I understand why the fans wanted a Second Season for this drama. It seems like there could be a chance for the 2nd season because Hae Soo returned to the future and met Ji Mong and somehow recalled her past memories with So. It would be good to know their challenges in the future if Wang So has the mindset of the past and attempting to live in the future much like how Hae Soo had to adapt her future mindset to her “present” time which was the Joseon era.

Boys Planet Episode 3-4 Recaps: Danger
Tumblr media
If you’re following the MNET show Boys Planet, you probably know by now that the editors are extremely irritating. For a song “mission” like this, they show 2-3 minute montages of some of the teams practicing, then fast forward to show time passing, then make it look like the performance will start any moment, and then have a lengthy flashback before we finally get to see the performance.
So, I made a main recap that takes you through episodes 3 and 4 in a linear way, but then when it comes to focusing on each team, I’ll put all those thoughts in a separate post so you can keep the storylines straight. This post is the Danger teams’ rehearsal and performance.
The Teams
K team:
Leader: Lee Seung Hwan
Other members: Choi Ji Ho, Jeon Woo Seok, Jung I Chan, Kim Min Hyuk, Lee Da Eul, Lim Jun Seo
You probably recognize Lee Da Eul, who was one of the two boys who walked in first. He auditioned with Replay, he’s 18, was ranked 4th and then 9th, and has fallen from 2 stars to 0  stars.
Many of the other trainees might be relatively unfamiliar to you, so let me remind you who they all are.
Lee Seung Hwan auditioned with Mirotic. He’s 22, was ranked 13th and then 16th, and has risen from 2 stars to 3. He debuted as a member of project group 1THE9 and then apparently was a backup dancer for Oneus during their US tour. He was very nice to Lee Da Eul.
Choi Ji Ho auditioned with Mmmh, which was not aired. He’s 18, was ranked 55th and then 58th, and has been 2 stars the whole time. The first time we encountered him, it was during a bit about Lee Da Eul, who the MNET editors are really pushing him.
Jeon Woo Seok auditioned with Criminal (barefoot), an audition that was not aired. I think he did a pretty good job, but the judges gave him 0 stars, later raising him to 2 stars. He’s 19, was ranked 60th and then 72nd.
Jung I Chan auditioned with Mirotic. He’s 20, was ranked 52nd and then 55th, and has been 2 stars the whole time. He was on I-Land as Jaeboem, and I think he spells his stage name as Echan, but the show keeps calling him I Chan.
Kim Min Hyuk auditioned with Lullaby, which was not aired. He’s 23, was ranked 90th and then 82nd, and has risen from 2 stars to 3.
Lim Jun Seo auditioned with Replay. He’s 17, was ranked 19th and then 21st, and has fallen from 2 stars to 1 star. He’s Lee Da Eul’s agency mate, and they walked in together at the beginning of the first episode.
G team:
Leader: Chen Yu Geng
Other members: Dong Dong, Itsuki, Takuto, Wang Yan Hong, Yang Jun, Yuto
Of these, you most likely recognize Takuto, the 15 year old little boxer, who has gotten a lot of story focus. He has been ranked 15th and then 20th, and has risen from 0 stars to 1 star.
Many of the other trainees might be relatively unfamiliar to you, so let me remind you who they all are.
Leader Chen Yu Geng, who apparently also goes by Crayon and who used to have blonde hair, auditioned with Call Me Baby. He’s 24, was ranked 75th and then 76th, and has been a 1-star the whole time.
Dong Dong auditioned with Tiger Inside. He’s 22, was ranked 91st and then 59th (!), and has been a 1-star the whole time.
Itsuki auditioned with Shine. He’s 16, was ranked 65th and then 81st, and has risen from 0 stars to 2 stars. Good job, Itsuki!
Wang Yan Hong auditioned with Hot. He’s 22, was ranked 79th and then 77th, and has been a 0-star the whole time.
Yang Jan auditioned with Hot. He’s 23, was ranked 84th and then 74th, and has been a 0-star the whole time.
Yuto auditioned with Conduct Zero. He’s 18, was ranked 69th and then 86th, and has fallen from 2 stars to 1.
Team Selection:
Lee Da Eul picked for his team, but I’ll remind you he picked people he liked personally and who had been kind to him, instead of picking people he thought were good.
The G-team was the leftovers, not picked by anyone.
Episode 3, 1:07:49
Part Selection
Tumblr media
They begin by choosing a leader. On K-team, Lee Da Eul is only too glad to hand over the reins to Lee Seung Hwan, who, I can imagine, seems a fair bit more experienced than most of the rest of the team.
Over on the G-team, no one wants to be leader except Chen Yu Geng. Yu Geng tries to get his team amped up, and they say “fighting! Chincha, fighting!” (chincha = really, seriously). But you can see a few of them don’t have their hearts in it.
Neither team is having an easy time picking the main vocal, as (per usual) there are some serious high notes here. On G-team, it looks like it’ll be Yang Jun, famous (infamous?) for his audition with Hot, and just generally being MNET’s punching bag. He volunteers, explaining (in Chinese) he wants to put on a good show so he’ll have no regrets even if he’s eliminated, and I mean, I get that. But he doesn’t look exactly… hopeful.
Tumblr media
Yu Geng interviews, in decent Korean, how important it is to have a good main vocal. There’s no one else who can even kind of do it, so it has to be Yang Jun.
Poor Yu Geng. He might get a vote boost from being the leader of this rag tag group.
Skip to Episode 4, 28:09, for the rest of this team’s story!
It’s performance day. The K-team is back stage, getting last minute advice from leader Lee Seung Hwan.  But G-team is just quietly shuffling around.
Flashback to the practice room. While K-team is dancing, G team is in a corner, having a serious talk.
Tumblr media
Left to right: Itsuki (green shirt), Yuto, Takuto, Leader Chen Yu Geng, Dong Dong, Wang Yan Hong (silver hair), Yang Jan
Chen Yu Geng interviews, in Korean, “We had a bit of a serious talk. We are the forgotten ones.” We see him talking to his team about how timid they are, how while the K-team shouts countdowns and stuff, they barely whisper. “I’m not afraid of Team K,” he says, “But I’m afraid of our team’s atmosphere.”
He seems to be talking to his team in Chinese, at times, but I don’t speak Chinese so I’m not totally sure. Three of the teammates are Japanese, so maybe there’s a translator nearby -- I really hope so, because, my god, MNET, you owe them that much.
Ok, this next part involves Yu Geng talking to Yang Jen, and I feel like if I were reading this part I’d get them confused since their names look similar. So I’ll call them Leader Yu Geng and Main Vocal Yang Jen.
Main Vocal Yang Jen says, in what also sounds like Chinese, “There’s something I want to bring up.” Basically, Main Vocal Yang Jen is saying that he feels that Leader Yu Geng has been too hard on them, yelling at them and being impatient. They get into a sort of heated exchange, with Leader Yu Geng saying that he wasn’t like this from the beginning, and Main Vocal Yang Jen saying, yes you were, and it’s very “no I wasn’t!” “Yes you were!” and oh noooo. The editors run the tape, and we see a montage of Leader Yu Geng losing his temper with his team a bit, and I can’t totally blame him for running out of patience. This has to be hard on all of them. Also, this is how dance masters always yell at trainees, so he’s just doing what he has seen others do.
It starts to turn into a full blown argument.  Main Vocal Yang Jen is saying that Leader Yu Geng never believed in his ability to carry the main vocal, and has been low-key conspiring to give the part to another team member, and ooofta, this is awkward. I feel like no one is really right and no one is really wrong here. This is just a bunch of stressed out, lonely, hopeless people shoved into a corner, and it’s natural they’d end up snarling at each other.
Leader Yu Geng ends up walking away from the meeting in frustration, and ends up crying in a sort of hidden corner or staircase, talking to Winnie.
Tumblr media
The MNET editors put a little arrow over Winnie’s head to identify him, in case the hair color didn’t give it away.
“I really don’t know what to do right now,” he cries in Korean to Winnie. “I think this will be our last performance, and I want to do well.”
Time has passed, and Leader Yu Geng and Main Vocal Yang Jen are trying to talk it out. Main Vocal Yang Jen is wearing a heavy puffer coat, which, why is there no heating in these places? Main Vocal Yang Jen admits, “I’m a terrible dancer. I’m so worried that I won’t be able to do it.” His eyes are red and puffy, and his voice is strained. They both want to do a good performance, and Leader Yu Geng says, “I got impatient because I felt anxious,” which is a very human thing to do. “I’m sorry if I hurt you because of that.” Main Vocal Yang Jen apologizes too, but Leader Yu Geng shakes his head -- no need to apologize.
Main Vocal Yang Jen interviews (in Chinese) that he understand how much pressure Leader is under, and Leader Yu Geng interviews (in Chinese) that a team should support each other.
I’m glad they talked this out. This must be so fucking stressful.
They return to their teammates and apologize, bowing deeply, but their teammates hold up their hands in the international gesture of “no worries”
Tumblr media
Everyone is relieved, and they start practicing again, with more energy and enthusiasm. We see a montage of Leader Yu Geng complimenting the team, and there are good feelings all around.
Takuto gets the final word (in Japanese): “We were an abandoned team, and no one expected much from us, but we’ll prove that we changed in a few days.”
Back to performance night. We see that the K-team backstage is watching, and Oh Sung Min is saying, “I hope they do well, but I want our team to do a little better.” That’s how I’d feel too. No one wants to win because the other team is hopeless.
And here’s the performance!
Tumblr media
Left to right: Chen Yu Geng, Takuto, Dong Dong, Wang Yan Hong, Yang Jan, Yuto, Itsuki
I know we were all afraid, but you know, it wasn’t bad.  I think the thing with this song is that it’s mostly rapping and there’s no ridiculously high notes, so it was actually a decent pull for this team.
They started off with energy and mostly kept it up. Dong Dong did a cute thing where when the lyrics go “deong deong digi deong deong” he sort of emphasized it. Yuto did really well with the rapping and the swag, and Chen Yu Geng did well with the vocals, the rapping, and the stage presence. And yeah of course Yang Jun’s vocals weren’t main vocal ready but he was mostly steady and mostly on key, bless. Wang Yan Hong’s stage presence was a little meh, but his rapping seemed ok. Takuto noticeably rushed the beat when he rapped, but I’m kind of impressed by his swag! You’ve come a long way. Itsuki’s vocals were also pretty ok. Toward the end, they seemed to be actually enjoying themselve for a few moments there. I can’t really speak to their dancing since the editing really prevented us from seeing their footwork or synchronization,  but overall, I think they can be proud of themselves. I think I would give my one vote to Chen Yu Geng, based on the performance alone, though knowing the back story would just add emphasis to my vote! I’d throw my vote in with a happy nod of my head.
The MNET editing kind of shocked me, it was so kind. They replayed Yang Jun’s high notes, presenting them as good, you guys.
The judges say the song has a lot of high notes (I disagree -- certainly not more than say, Very Nice) and that they didn’t notice any major mistakes. They’re pretty kind overall and recognize how hard the team worked. Solji says that she can tell that Chen Yu Geng worked hard as the leader.
Back stage, Chen Yu Geng tells his team, “The result doesn’t matter. It’s over, and we did well.” Takuto goes to hug him, and they end up in a group hug.
Tumblr media
Back stage, Lee Sueng Han ? says, “They did the killing part well, hyungnim,” which like, hyungnim? Hyungnim has this spangly arm band?
Now it’s time for K-team. We start off with… this?
Tumblr media
NO EXPLANATION IS EVER GIVEN FOR THIS SHOT.
They’re at that big mid-way checkup, when all the trainees give each other feedback. And it doesn’t go well. Lee Da Eul is a mess -- doesn’t know the steps or the lyrics -- and Jung I Chan is also messing up the choreo a lot. The vocalists are having trouble hitting the higher notes (I mean, there are high notes, it’s just not nearly as bad as Here I Am or Very Nice). The trainees watching notice all the mistakes, and Lee Hwanhee (on the Kill This Love team) says, “I’m really worried about this team.” It’s so bad that General Gunwook can’t find anything to compliment them on.  If I were on this team, I’d be like, “Thanks, Lee Da Eul, for picking me to be on this team with an average star rating of 2.” It really wasn’t the gift he seems to have thought it was.
The audience was silent throughout, and that’s a bad sign. Lee Da Eul bursts into nervous laughter about having messed everything up, but a death stare from Seung Hwan stops him.
Tumblr media
Later on, in the rehearsal room, they’re looking over their notes from the other trainees, and there aren’t a lot of compliments. One note says, “I think they should start from the beginning.” Another says “I don’t know what they’ve been practicing all this time.” A lot of the notes mention how bad Lee Da Eul is. The whole thing is a mess.
They decide to give Jung I Chan the main vocal part (taking it from Seung Hwan, apparently) despite some concerns about his condeeshun.  (Are they all sick? Da fuq, MNET?) They try to talk Da Eul into giving up his part, and taking I Chan’s previous part, that has “a lot of impacts” but not a lot of lyrics. Da Eul does not want to give it up and actually has the balls to say “if I switch to Rapper 2, there’s no point in picking you guys anymore.” OH NO YOU DIDN’T, you little shit.
And in that exact moment, I began to actively root against him. Nope nope nope.
Tumblr media
The boys cannot believe what he’s said. He explains that they taught him so much and he doesn’t want to be running away, but that is not it at all. Whether he’s saying this out loud or not, what he means is, “I picked you all, you should be grateful to me, and let me do the big rap.” It’s ugly, you guys, and I-Chan knows it. Look at him giving Da Eul a death stare.
Tumblr media
Lee Seung Hwan doesn’t know what to do. He’s fond of Lee Da Eul, but I don’t think he thinks that Da Eul can pull off a win for the team.
Later, we see that Kim Min Hyuk and Lee Seung Hwan are talking about the situation. Minhyuk says that “switching is the answer” but acknowledges that Da Eul is the highest ranked on the team. As a reminder:
Lee Da Eul  9th
Lee Seung Hwan 16th
Lim Jun Seo 21st
Jung I Chan 55th
Choi Ji Ho 58th
Jeon Woo Seok 72nd
Kim Min Hyuk 82nd
Seunghwan says, “We’ve been doing this song for three days. If he can’t do it by now, we’re all going down! This is pointless.”
The next day, at dress rehearsal, Da Eul is still not pulling off the rap, I Chan can’t find the note, and it seems that some of them are forgetting which part they’re doing? The whole thing is a mess. The judges ask why did I-Chan end up with the main vocal, if he’s been having this kind of trouble for several days? The dance judge tells them that they’re not performing the song, the vocal judge tells them that their breath control is off, and they all say they need to practice. Then the main vocal judge, Master Lee, tells Da Eul:
“Da Eul, you can’t consider yourself an amateur anymore. You’re always smiling, thinking, ‘although I lack in skill, I just got started, and the Star Creators like me, so I’m okay.’ You need to wipe that thought clean starting today. If you keep showing that you lack talent, then that becomes your identity.”
YES!! Nice work, sir.
The judges take them through the dance a few times and give them some useful feedback. It’s nice to see them being helpful instead of just pointlessly cruel.
Afterward, Jung I Chan is crying, partly because he realized how badly he’s doing, but also partly because he feels his team’s frustration with him. Lee Seunghwan is kind, like a lot kinder than I would be in this situation.
And now, the performance.
The judges, watching from their folding chairs in their windowless undecorated room, are worried about the team, especially I-Chan and Da Eul.
Tumblr media
Lee Da Eul, Choi Ji Ho, Jeong I-Chan, Kim Min Hyuk, Lim Jun Seo, Lee Seung Hwan, Jeon Woo Seok
Da Eul does sufficiently well that everyone is proud of him, but I wouldn’t say it’s actually good on any objective scale. He’s doing the steps but he’s not performing. Poor I-Chan’s voice shakes a bit, and then he lets it show on his face that he’s mad at himself. Lim Jun Seo’s singing is ok, but his stage presence is nil. Min Hyuk brings great swag -- it’s great for the energy of the song. Jeon Woo Seok’s vocals have improved a lot! And he’s still a great dancer with great stage presence. Lee Seung Hwan’s rapping is actually really good and also brings the swag. The whole thing is kind of ok -- I mean, the song is good and they’re being edited well and you could just sort of say “this is fine.” But there’s no real recovering from I-Chan’s singing and horrified face -- it kind of ruins the whole performance, to be honest. It’s the face more than the actual singing.
Tumblr media
This is the face of someone who is living through their own personal nightmare. But I-Chan, honey, didn’t you see it coming? Why did you agree to do the main vocal? Why did your team let you? I have so many questions. Poor I-Chan -- he’s been at this a long time, between I-Land and this show, and it doesn’t ever work out for him.
Afterward, the judges talk about how the main vocals of the two teams form an interesting contrast, with Yang Jun not letting anything show on his face when he had pitch issues, but how I-Chan just completely flopped the whole performance and spent the whole time looking lost and terrified. I mean, the judges don’t use that phrasing but that’s their basic point.
And no one mentions the performance put in by Jeon Woo Seok. It’s fucking great. Yeah, his singing isn’t lovely, but it’s on key. It’s extremely nasal, and in that way, it reminds me of how Kai sounded when he was in the early stages of his vocal training. Extensive practice with good coaches could bring something special out of this kid. He’s really a fantastic dancer and has great stage presence and I don’t know why MNET doesn’t love him.
The voting results:
They don’t show all the specifics.
Main Vocal
Jung I Chan 29
Yang Jan 27
Main Rapper
Choi Ji Ho ?
Dong Dong ?
Sub Vocal 1
Jeon Woo Seok ?
Itsuki ?
Sub Rapper 1
Lee Da Eul  50
Yuto 82
Sub Rapper 2
Lee Seung Hwan 149
Wang Yan Hong 22
Sub Vocal 2
Lim Jun Seo  32
Chen Yu Gong 71
Sub Rapper 3
Kim Min Hyuk (also killing part) ?
Takuto ?
Jung I-Chan getting as many votes as he does is proof that popularity on these shows is weird and not always to do with your skill. For me, I would have considered it appropriate if he’d gotten 0 votes -- again, not for the vocals, but for the faces he made on stage.
We don’t get to find out the other votes, which is really infuriating, at least in part because now my spreadsheet is incomplete. From what we can see, the score is 260 to 202, in favor of K.
We later on find out that the score was actually 486 to 286! So that means that between them, Choi Ji Ho, Jeon Woo Seok, and Kim Min Hyuk got 226 votes. That's a lot! That's around 75 each if it was split evenly. It also means that between them, Dong Dong, Itsuki, and Takuto got 60 votes, though that's less exciting.
I wonder if maybe one trainee got a ton of votes and MNET didn’t want to explore that story (maybe Jeon Woo Seok, though I wouldn’t assume an audience would notice him) or even more likely, if a certain performer -- maybe Takuto -- didn’t get a lot of votes, and MNET didn’t want to show that. Or maybe they just didn't want to show so many people beating Lee Da Eul.
Anyway, that’s my conspiracy theory for the day. And that’s the end of this review.
