Since Gem has antlers, do you think they have the cycle of growing velvet, scraping it off, then shedding them?
So she’s just like this for a while:
Tumblr media
Imagine one time the velvet starts to shed, so she casually peels a bit off and someone is like “WHAT IS THAT?”

Napoleon found that his friendships with men often began with physical attraction, and this took a curious form. ‘He told me,’ says Caulaincourt, ‘... that for him the heart was not the organ of sentiment; that he felt emotions only where most men experience feelings of a different kind: nothing in the heart, everything in the loins and in another place, which I leave nameless.’ The feeling Napoleon described as ‘a sort of painful tingling, a nervous irritability... the squeaking of a saw sometimes gives me the same sensation.’

Hot take: I actually love Edgar's constant flirting with every lady he meets because it's hilarious, and he isn't just objectifying them physically, and he isn't a dick about being rejected, and half the time when he flirts with Celes or Terra it feels like he's teasing after it's clear they're not interested, and-

[shaking and biting] but what does it MEAN. what does it SAY what is the THEME
#akkdlflf i watched this long lecture video abt austrian national identity and the researcher said 'the austrians are quite adept at#selling the austro hungarian monarchy back to tourists incl ones from former parts of the empire... but even in the imperial nostalgia they#don't want back multilingualism or multiculturalism or any of what it actually was'#(it was a lot abt the way in which austria deals with orban's hungary in and after the 2015 refugee crisis)#ajskgldo and that just made me think about... how pointless some things feel. both in fiction and in academic research#you CAN say meaningful things about almost any topic and with almost any argument! but in some strands of history trying to 'uncover events'#with no exploration of the context and what it all MEANS and what the things we think about it mean#is the most prevalent and popular type of research :/ like there's a reason i overrely on hamann's bio of rudolf because her central thesis#is that he wasnt a crazy murderer but someone with a forward-thinking political vision that went as far as suggesting a sort of 'proto-EU'#among other things#so like. she is looking at what it all MEANS!!!#and like. my favourite todolf fanfics are also like that 😂😭 perhaps not abt politics but about suffering and power dynamics and guilt#same for original fiction. i'm never happy if a book i'm reading isnt saying something#or then again - this is more personal pickiness but. they should also be saying something NEW AND INTERESTING#a lot of the time. sometimes if you have a fave trope you can just enjoy it over and over#but idk even tropey stuff can say things#ajlsldkfkf i'm just so tired of kitsch in all its forms and also of bad science

Im curious if you see more parallels between Octavian and Mark Antony, and Brutus and Cassius, as both being brother in laws.
tbh, there's not a lot there for me to dig my teeth into. Octavian and Antony were brother in laws with Octavia as an intermediary, so functionally a marriage with three people to it, while Cassius did not need to use Brutus' sister specifically as a go between them
the Horrible Family Dynamic that compels me with Octavian and Mark Antony is that step father in law kind of situation going on when Octavian was married to Claudia (while Antony was married to Fulvia) and then later Agrippa's marriage to Octavian's daughter. like. instead of the horizontal nature of in laws on a family tree, we're getting the vertical nature of something that makes me go Huh™

When Beryl took Kelsa under her wing as a protege and daughter in all but name, it was one of the best times of Kelsa's life. It certainly didn't hurt that Beryl could relate to Kelsa's time as a slave of the Hutts and kept them both as far away from the Cartels as possible. It broke both of their hearts when the Voidhound was strong-armed into selling Kelsa out to the SIS, causing Beryl to cut ties entirely with the Voidhound and her organization.

NOW LIL UPDATE TO THE LORE OF THE WEREDINO STUFF!!!
I only dropped this to a moot of mine but Jerome actually leads a group of hunters against these weredino boys, believing they're the biggest threat known to the world.
Considering there was three located in Hope County (4 if we include Rose from @therelignedstars) he might be in the wrong viewpoint, but he believes he's doing a good service.
This is the reason Jacob and John don't have a ND verse in the weredino au version and I talked about it with a moot as well. Because they got killed execution style.
I love the angst this gives to Joseph and I plan more later >:3

October 18th 1831: The Birth of Kaiser Frederick III
He was the eldest child and only son of Kaiser Wilhelm I and Kaiserin Augusta of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach and was raised with Prussian military customs. He found solace in his wife, Victoria, Princess Royal, the daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert who shared his liberal beliefs. They met in 1851, when Frederick’s mother sent him to see the Great Exhibition and the 11 year old Victoria was the one to guide him around the exhibition. While Frederick was only able to speak only a few words in English, Victoria was already fluent in German. Something along with the young girl’s intellect and curiosity, impressed him.
They continued to exchange letters with one another after the meeting and Frederick proposed to Victoria when she was 14 years old in 1855. They were betrothed on May 19, 1857 and then married on January 25th 1858 in the Royal Chapel at St. James’ Palace in London, the couple had a happy marriage that endured the judgement of the unwelcoming Prussian Court, and had eight children. (The future Wilhelm II being their eldest.)
They planned to rule as co rulers, similar to Victoria’s parents and attempt to liberalize the deeply conservative Germany. But that plan would not see the light of day. Just shy of his 100th days since occupying the throne, Kaiser Frederick III succumbed to a long, painful battle with throat cancer, after many unsuccessful attempts to cure him. His son — Kaiser Wilhelm II who ascended the throne right after the death of his father remarked in an emotional outburst: “An English doctor killed my father, and an English doctor crippled my arm — which is the fault of my mother.”

Descriptions of Napoleon’s personality by Adam Zamoyski
“He was kind by nature, quick to assist and reward. He found comfortable jobs and granted generous pensions to former colleagues, teachers, and servants, even to a guard who had shown sympathy during his incarceration after the fall of Robespierre. He was generous to the son of Marbeuf, promoted his former commander at TouIon Dugommier and looked after his family when he died, did the same for La Poype and du Teil, and even found the useless Carteaux a post with a generous pension. Whenever he encountered hardship or poverty, he disbursed lavishly. He could be sensitive, and there are countless verifiable acts of solicitude and kindness that testify to his genuinely wishing to make people happy.”
“He was most at his ease with children, soldiers, servants, and those close to him, in whom he took a personal interest, asking them about their health, their families, and their troubles. He would treat them with a joshing familiarity, teasing them, calling them scoundrels or nincompoops; whenever he saw his physician, Dr. Jean-Nicolas Corvisart, he would ask him how many people he had killed that day.”
“He possessed considerable charm and only needed to smile for people to melt. He could be a delightful companion when he adopted an attitude of bonhomie. He was a good raconteur, and people loved listening to him speak on some subject that interested him, or tell his ghost stories, for which he would sometimes blow out the candles. He could grow passionate when discussing literature or, more rarely, his feelings.”

Finally got around to finishing Dr. Stone: NEW WORLD and they're really gonna make me sit through Byakuya's death after telling me that he spent literal decades searching for an extremely rare material on the slim chance that his son would eventually wake up. And expected me not to be absolutely devastated??
