GIFT BASKET
Tumblr media
I'm a bit late, but happy One Year Anniversary to Hi-Fi RUSH! I've sang my praises for this game before, but getting to see the development team's thoughts and thanks for the game was the ribbon that tied the gift basket all together. Thank you again to all the incredible folk at Tango Gameworks for making this unforgettable experience! ⚡🎸🎵

Gorky 17
Metropolis Software was perhaps the first Polish video game studio, founded in 1992 by Adrian Chmielarz and Grzegorz Miechowski, two very important figures of the Polish video game industry; Chmielarz eventually designed and directed games such as Painkiller or The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, while Miechowski co-founded 11 bit studios, who released This War of Mine and Frostpunk. Metropolis’ fourth game, Gorky 17 (1999), is perhaps their last game with a good reception; the studio produced half a dozen more games that never got great reviews, then was eventually bought then closed by compatriots CD Projekt. This horror tactical RPG was warmly received in Europe, though sales never were chart-topping; it was also released in North America as Odium, but did not make much of a splash there. The game ambled on after its initial release, getting a Macintosh port in 2002, a Linux port in 2006, and an AmigaOS port in 2015; however the Linux version distributed on Steam is incompatible with more recent flavors of Linux due to a Wine incompatibility. It is overall a very good game, one worth revisiting and a great European obscurity.

Small Hi-Fi Rush spoilers
The part where one of Zanzo’s bots punched Chai in the face with that BEAUTIFUL animation needs to be treasured in our hearts and minds forever.

hot take!! WARNING!!!
my favorite video game genre is actually when a game is given all the time in the world to be finished and be as high quality as possible and it isn't announced TIL it's ready so there's no pressure on the developers to rush things and probably less crunch culture because of that, delays being allowed anytime possible cause no one online even knows about the ding dang game yet.
and the game is filled with so much love and care, you can deadass tell the company and everyone involved in the project had a fucking blast making it.
and everyone is happy with the final result.
and the people getting the SUPRISE announcement get a new high quality and amazing experience on the same day it was announced because everything is already done to perfection already and no more work is need to be done.
have fun, enjoy our game.

wip wednesday exists apparently? uh. uhhh. have this
Peppermint wasn't winning. No, that wasn't her goal anymore. Her goal was making sure Chai didn't win, and that Korsica did. She reached up to pet the cat, and 808 leaned into it with a purr. Chai, who had been recently assaulted by a blue shell, noticed the purring noise, and let out a frustrated sigh. "I'm being assaulted with blue shells, and you're over there, petting your cat as I'm suffering!" Chai threw his hands out, controller still held tight in his hands. His character spun out on a banana soon after he had started driving again.  Korsica chuckled, cruising high in her now first place position. "Excellent work, Peppermint." "Oh, uh, it. It was nothing." Peppermint took her hand off of 808 to get back to driving past the CPU players and matching up with Macaron. Chai, however, took note of the wording. "So you were doing it on purpose!" Chai shouted, taking a corner a bit too hard and bumping into a wall. "How?!" Peppermint stammered a bit, but she cleared her throat. "I know my way around this game. I also know how the item generation works. And so..." She waved a hand at the screen, where she had passed Chai. "Boom. I'm better than you." "You are so annoying." Chai grumbled, but he continued driving Korsica crossed the finish line first, and she pumped her fists. Peppermint's character bumped into a wall.

Every other Tuesday, my local movie theater does Shitty Sci-Fi Movie Night. Riffing and mocking the movie openly is encouraged. I've seen terrible kaiju movies, incoherent thrillers, and so many terrible Star Trek wannabes. It's magical.
My fiancée @dontbelasanga and I go with our friends and have a blast. Well, today I couldn't go. I had a killer migraine. So I had to sit at home and do nothing instead. Thankfully, one of our friends was able to pick-up my SO, so she could still see it. Lovely!
As he left, he texted my SO that he was going to stop at Burger King, and does she want anything? She said nope! She told me later and I asked if he could get me some fries, but it was too late. So I didn't get to see the bad movie with friends, and my wife's BF didn't even bring me any french fries.
