COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE TO UNOFFICIAL GUILTY GEAR TRANSLATIONS + SOME OTHER STUFF
THIS POST HAS BECOME A PAIN IN THE ASS TO UPDATE AND I WILL ONLY BE UPDATING THE NEOCITIES PAGE FROM HERE ON OUT. SORRY.... GUILTY GEAR FAN MEDIA TOO POWERFUL https://solradguy.neocities.org/ggmasterpost
----
Please contact me if there are translations in other languages (or I missed something) and I will add them to this post. If you find this post through a reblog with an old "last updated" date, check the original post on my blog for more recent information. There is a mirror of this post on my Neocities page. The Neocities page also has better navigation, organization, and will now be updated before this post.
Wanna help out but have never scanned a book before? Here's a guide I wrote on book scanning: Tumblr Link
I have done my best to link all of the works here back to their original scanlator/translator's uploads and hosting websites:
🔥 Volcanic Fighter (aka Nincopyjasb) - If there's a surviving archive for something Guilty Gear, Volcanic probably has it. Works in English and Spanish.
Twitter - Youtube
🔥 Justice Revival Project (aka Longshotte) - Formed solely to translate the GG Xtra manga.
Mangadex - Twitter
🔥 Ed Chang - One of the first, and most prolific, JP>EN translators in the GG community, as well as a popular Gamefaqs author for the old GG games. Used to have a personal website that hosted his works but it is lost to time. He is a name you will see often in old archived works.
🔥 Sol Radguy :) In case my Tumblr gets nuked
Email: junkyarddogmkii [at] gmail [dot] com Archive.org - Neocities - Mangadex
🔥 Tillman - Scans and archives manga and Encyclopedia/guide book volumes, as well as rips animations and other information from Vastedge and the old games.
Neocities - Tumblr - Archive.org
🔥 LesbianGiratina - Has scanned a very substantial chunk of the Guilty Gear trading cards. Also scans some of the rarer side media or special release editions of games.

🔥THIS IS A LONG LIST🔥

English (Sol Radguy): Tumblr - Archive.org Español (Volcanic): Dropbox
🔥 Lightning The Argent - Light novel focused on Ky. Currently does not have a full translation but Volcanic has made what he's translated into Spanish so far public. Sol Radguy is currently working on an English translation. All current translations listed here are by Volcanic.
English, Chapter 1: Dropbox Español - Dropbox (complete) Español Resumen - Dropbox (story summary in Spanish)
🔥The Butterfly & Her Gale - Light novel focused on Chipp. Translations here are by Volcanic, who is also working on a full translation.
Español Resumen - Dropbox (story summary in Spanish) English, Chapter 1 - Dropbox
🔥Guilty Gear 2 -Overture- Material Collection - Art book for Overture. There are 8 short stories in it.

English - Dropbox Español - Dropbox
🔥DRAMA CDS - The English files for these are also hosted on Sol Radguy's Neocities site if the .ru domain is blocked for you. That site also hosts a .PDF of all the following English translated files so that they are more portable/easier to read than the raw .TXT format some of these are currently in.
Neocities
🔥 Night of Knives - GGXX drama CD mainly focused on Zato and Millia with some Venom and Slayer. Translations by Blade (vol. 1-3), Mei (ES side stories), and Volcanic (EN side stories). NOTE: The volume 1-3 translations done by Blade (aka Blade Galewind, Mimeblade, gear-project), who is known for purposely misinterpreting lore and inserting headcanons into translations. Unfortunately, these are the only translations out there of these drama CDs. The Spanish translations of these 3 volumes worked off Blade's English ones. Read at your own risk. A new translation is currently in progress by Vaporbabe.
English: guiltygear.ru: Vol.1, Vol.2, Vol.3 Español: Dropbox +Robo-Ky side story: English: Dropbox Español: Dropbox + A.B.A. side story: English: Dropbox Español: Dropbox Axl side story: English: Neocities Español: Dropbox
🔥 GGX Drama CD - A bunch of the cast have a big fight over some Old War Technology (black tech). English translations by Ed Chang, Spanish translations by Aegis High and Volcanic. NOTE: There are significant errors in Ed Chang's translation (& possibly in Aegis High's & Volcanic's, which worked off of Chang's text), the biggest of which is the infamous "Johnny Sfondi" last name mistranslation. Cross-reference information presented in these texts with more recent confirmed canon before using it as a source or citation. Ed Chang's statement on these translations can be read here: screenshot. Tl;dr: Chang was new to Japanese translation and the mistakes were honest accidents. These translations are nearly 20 years old. Vaporbabe may very well do a new translation for this CD too.
--Disc 01: English: guiltygear.ru Español: Dropbox --Disc 02: English: guiltygear.ru Español: Dropbox +Dizzy & Testament side story (from when they first meet): English: Included at the end of Chang's Disc 02 translation. Español: Dropbox
🔥GGXX Drama CD Sides Red & Black - This is an alternate timeline where Ky is killed during the Crusades. English translations by Ed Chang, Spanish translations by Volcanic.
English: guiltygear.ru (red) - guiltygear.ru (black) Español: Dropbox +Night of the Living Dolls extra story (feat. Zappa): English: At the end of Chang's Side Red translation. Español: Dropbox +Letter extra story (a letter from Dizzy to Testament): English: At the end of Chang's Side Black translation ("A Message from Dizzy to You") Español: Dropbox

Sol Radguy is currently working on this. Fábrica de Lutadores and Maxima-Dub are also working on a Brazilian Portuguese translation. Chapters 1 - 8 are in English, while the first two are in Portuguese.

MISSING STUFF //
Character Designer Issue 1. 2003 (キャラクタデザイナー ISSUE.1 2003年秋) - Has SUPER early concept art for a lot of characters in it, including concept art for Baiken when she was initially planned to be male. - lesbiangiratina is currently scanning this; Sol Radguy translation of the GG pages is in progress.
The EU special edition release of GG Accent Core Plus. Came with what's likely to be an official English translation of the 10th Memorial Book OR a book called The Lost Archive, which seems to include artwork for Overture but additional information is unknown. Which book it came with depended on which version of the SE was bought. These were limited to 200 copies (100 each) and are very expensive (>us$450). (thanks to Renexuz & Tillman for this info)
Arc System Works 25th Anniversary Memorial Booklet - A Japan-exclusive limited-edition artbook that was available at the Arc System Works Festival 2013 to commemorate the company's twenty-fifth anniversary.
Guilty Gear 2 Overture Secret Gig & Secret Gig Neo - Two different booklets given out at Tokyo Game Show (2006?) that have some Overture art in them that wasn't included in the GG2Overture Material Collection art book, mostly of Valentine and Chimaki. Neo has art by guest artists, including a Valentine body pillow... Neo also seems to be the rarer of the two, but both are pretty hard to find.

Magazines:
Names are left in Japanese to make them easier to copy-paste into web searches. Here is how to read them:
電撃プレイステーション = Dengeki PlayStation
Vol. = Volume number
1995年10月13日 = 1995 [year], 10 [month], 13 [day], so October 13, 1995. All dates are yyyy/mm/dd format.
There may be additional Dengeki PS articles from 1995 and 1996. DPS April Special Issue Vol.19 1996/04/10 has been scanned/translated (see above).
電撃プレイステーション F Vol.10 1995/10/13 The ML beta character bios scans. - We have scans of the GG article from this but they are very poor quality.
電撃プレイステーション vol.14 April 1996 Beta GG article, page 22
電撃プレイステーション vol.59 1997/11/14 Beta GG article on page 28
電撃プレイステーション vol.32 1996/11/22 Beta GG article on page 14. - There exists in the current GG archives a poor photo of a double-page spread with a blue background from this issue. It's illegible but shows a different UI than the final release of GG1.
電撃プレイステーション vol.72 GoGoRPG Special Issue 1998/4/24 GG article page 34 - This issue was published about 3 weeks before the official release of Missing Link. Very likely shows final-release stuff.
電撃プレイステーション vol.73 CD-Rom Special Issue 1998/5/22 Came with a physical disc. GG article on page 12

Infinity Records, 2022.
Here’s some wonderful news from Infinity Records: they just received a a copy of Les Rallize Denudes’ Cable Hogue Soundtrack. Everyone knows the lore of this once-obscure mind-blowing Japanese psych / garage band. The majority of their discography is loaded with unofficial bootlegs and very few official releases which I can only count on one hand. How often is it that I come across their records? Never. I did, however, come across their post on social media about it seven days after the fact. A drive out to Massapequa was in the cards, and seeing that LP up for sale meant it would be a fun game of ‘winner-winner-sushi-dinner or too-bad-so-sad’. So did I win? You’ll see sooner than later.
Every one of the island’s record stores closed during the pandemic. Fortunately, they all survived and are still going. It was only Infinity that was in dire straits. They were in danger of losing their store as they were behind on rent. Their landlord wasn’t too forgiving (that’s never a character trait of theirs), so they set up a GoFundMe to keep it going. They only managed to raise $7,272.00 out of $12,000.00 they wanted. No one knows how they did when they came up short. All that matters is that they’re still here.
I walk in and that bell rings. I see at least 15 different people shopping in Infinity’s bins; the busiest I’ve ever seen it. It’s still their old rundown, disorganized, shabby self. It’s just as ‘lost’ like Brooklyn’s Academy but only larger and they could be related in ugliness and unkempt. You can find plenty of empty bins, piles of records, and unmarked stacks of boxes packed with loads of what-the-fuck-is-it. Deteriorating paper and the smell of old cardboard, dust, and decades-old wood permeate the store with a smell that I can’t pinpoint what year it originates from. It’s the scent that attracts older, loose-skinned men in stained clothing. But I do like coming here as they’re one of the least-expensive places selling music. 99¢ classical records, their $2.76 LP bins, $4.00 CDs, and reasonable prices on used vinyl; making it a great location that offers a lot of bang for the buck. Plus, everywhere you turn, there’s always vintage turntables, receivers, and stereo equipment stacked on top of each other to be found.
Cassettes are still plentiful in this day and age and are considered the cheapest and most cumbersome format to buy. They had two racks of tapes on each side of the store. About 500-600 shells on the wall with the usual pre-handled residue and smudges on its shells. So how many did I pick out? Zero. No hip-hop but what I saw was plenty of Seventies, Eighties, and Nineties pop, jazz, movie soundtracks, classical compilations, greatest hits, and and best-of’s I had no interest in taking.
Some of their best bins were the new used arrivals. Give them a few stars for carrying some rare jazz, folk, psych-, and private pressings I’ve never seen before. Want mid-Oughts indie and hipster LP’s like The Hives, MGMT, and and LCD Soundsystem for no more than $20.00 a pressing? They have plenty of that, too. Knowing me, I wouldn’t throw down that amount of money to own a title unless if it was absolutely necessary. It usually isn’t when there’s a physically unmeasurable sliver of hope that you’ll find it somewhere else for less - which has happened before.
I’d head on over to see the jazz / fusion stock. Of all genres I look for, it’s the most consistent, thrifty, and easiest to stock up on. Starting off, I picked Spyro Gyra’s Morning Dance thanks to John Tropea and a few appearances of Suzzane Ciani. Ask me how many times this year I picked up a Deodato album? Infinity had two of them: First Cuckoo and Very Together with Tropea (again) and Steve Gadd. David Sanborn’s Taking Off also have Steve Gadd but traded in John Tropea for Steve Khan. On a whole separate note, Hubert Laws’ Family featured an all-star line-up of his sister Debra, Bobby Lyle, Earl Klugh, and Chick Corea. I nailed my first Gary Bartz LP and got my hands on Richie Cole’s Keeper Of The Flame featuring Vic Juris and Terry Silverlight. I also copped (The Best Of) Jon Lucien, a familiar format released on Columbia where they give a greatest hits compilation to their best artists.
I know from previous visits that the bargain bin of poppy’s basement collection, Jello party, and The Best Of Dean Martin’s Greatest Hits had nothing for me. What I didn’t do last time was surge through their 12” singles section. Now’s the time to redeem myself. It was a joker’s wild of selections mixed with my Atari childhood, golden era hip-hop, old-school hip-hop, and even peak-hipster era. There was a Black Dice 12” featuring tracks from Load Blown never issued on vinyl (a sampler, maybe?), and both Lovebug Starski and a Sugarhill Gang 12” still keep the classic old-school hip-hop quotient going.
Towards the right side of the store were their used CD bins. Like a badly-played game of keno, it was all great stuff for the majority that wasn’t appealing to me. There had to be 30 to 40 columns of stock and I only found three to my liking. The Raveonettes’ In And Out Of Control and Metallica’s Garage Inc. that was part of the Selden-era (community college). I was surprised to find a Sacred Bones in the mix: Zola Jesus’ Versions. How many more -Bones releases must I have? The answer: never enough!
4PM approached and the customer count dropped dramatically. There wasn’t the crowd of three who hawkeyed the five-wide new vinyl arrivals section as before. It was all mine as I was concerned. Again, I didn’t care to spend full price on a new vinyl LP, but there were plenty of lower-priced ones I could be looking for. The diamond of the day was finding a copy of Buzzcocks’ Spiral Scratch, their first-ever release of theirs. Only two 12” pressings were made and I happened to get a bootleg copy, but the $15.00 asking price was reasonably fair. That LP alone would be the most expensive purchase of the entire day.
**********
Oh, yeah…about that Les Rallize Denudes record. I kept an eye out for it but never popped up in my sights. For the avoidance of all doubt, I showed their post to one of their own who worked there and asked if they saw it. So far, no luck. They did ask me if I looked at the vinyl records on the wall, which I said “no, not yet”. They took a quick glance but they didn’t recognize it and suggested that I comb through the new arrivals section again. I did a second look-through but I still didn’t see it. I assumed someone else got to it before I did, you vicious bastard whoever you are.
I never ever seen a Les Rallize Denudes release in the wild. Those are incredibly scarce outside of Japan. They’re one of those bands of lore which myth became a verified legend because of the internet. I bet that once people discovered them that they started grabbing whatever they could find of theirs. Demand has exceeded supply in their case; more than enough that there couldn’t possibly be anyone else besides myself on this ignoramus island I live on who knows them. Apparently there was. I could imagine that Les Rallize Denudes record didn’t even last a day in the store. Only right before closing was when I was informed by them that someone else did grab it, according to their other co-workers on the phone.
I had only a few minutes to thumb through the small 7” / 45’s bins and came across lots of blank-sleeved singles. No hardcore, no punk, nothing. By then it’s already 5PM. I didn’t have enough time to go through the other larger 7” bins and didn’t even think to thumb through their $2.76 records. I declare myself done and cash out. I didn’t know anyone working there on a first-name basis, nor the kinder older gentleman who tallied up all the things I purchased, but at least he was nice to me and not an arrogant pretentious spiteful scumbag which is considered garden variety on the island. This year’s visit cost me $105.00 and change, which was give or take $2.00 away from my last visit’s purchase. It could’ve been more if I captured that Les Rallize Denude LP. Imagine how proud I might’ve felt if I did. I hand him my card, ran everything through, and I was all good to go.
Then I remembered one more thing: Infinity always has a small candy dish filled with Hershey’s miniatures, Jolly Ranchers, M&M’s, Dum-Dums, and other colorful jollies. No store on the island has one. I look down at the dish to take a piece and there were no more chocolates but plenty of Dum-Dums for the taking. One of their regulars ate all the chocolates before I got to them but I at least got myself a free Infinity badge. Look who’s going to be a little hungry on the way home?

«The Conquerors» introduces twelve additional units to «Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings»: The Huns are also unique in that they do not build houses to support their population, from the start being only limited by the fixed population limit of the game. Both civilizations also lack access to gunpowder units. This is partially balanced by the fact that they start with Eagle Warrior infantry units, who have many of the advantages that cavalry have. The Aztecs and Mayans completely lack the ability to train cavalry units. Melvin Glover (born May 15, 1961), better known by his stage name Melle Mel (/ˈmɛli mɛl/) and Grandmaster Melle Mel, is an American hip hop recording artist who was the lead vocalist and songwriter of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.
Tumblr media
Glover began performing in the late 1970s. He may have been the first rapper to call himself MC (master of ceremonies). Other Furious Five members included his brother The Kidd Creole (Nathaniel Glover), Scorpio (Eddie Morris), Rahiem (Guy Todd Williams) and Cowboy (Keith Wiggins). While a member of the group, Cowboy created the term hip-hop while teasing a friend who had just joined the US Army, by scat singing the words "hip/hop/hip/hop" in a way that mimicked the rhythmic cadence of marching soldiers.
Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five began recording for Enjoy Records and released "Superrappin'" in 1979. They later moved on to Sugar Hill Records and were popular on the R&B charts with party songs like "Freedom" and "The Birthday Party". They released numerous singles, gaining a gold disc for "Freedom", and touring. In 1982 Melle Mel began to turn to more socially-aware subject matter, in particular the Reagan administration's economic (Reaganomics) and drug policies, and their effect on the black community.
A song "The Message" became an instant classic and one of the first glimmers of conscious hip-hop. Mel recorded a rap over session musician Duke Bootee's instrumental track "The Jungle". Some of Mel's lyrics on "The Message" were taken directly from "Superrappin'". Other than Melle Mel, no members of Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five actually appear on the record. Bootee also contributed vocals (Rahiem was to later lip sync Bootee's parts in the music video).
Tumblr media
"The Message" went platinum in less than a month and would later be the first hip-hop record ever to be added to the United States National Archive of Historic Recordings and the first Hip Hop record inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Mel would also go on to write songs about struggling life in New York City ("New York, New York"), and making it through life in general ("Survival (The Message 2)"). Grandmaster Flash split from the group after contract disputes between Melle Mel and their promoter Sylvia Robinson in regard to royalties for "The Message". When Flash filed a lawsuit against Sugar Hill Records, the factions of The Furious Five parted.
Mel became known as Grandmaster Melle Mel and the leader of the Furious Five. The group went on to produce the anti-drug song "White Lines (Don't Don't Do It)". An unofficial music video starred up-and-coming actor Laurence Fishburne[3] and was directed by then-unknown film student Spike Lee). The record was falsely credited to "Grandmaster + Melle Mel" by Sugar Hill Records in order to fool the public into thinking Grandmaster Flash had participated on the record.
Mel gained greater fame and success after appearing in the movie Beat Street, with a song based on the movie's title. He performed a memorable rap on Chaka Khan's smash hit song "I Feel for You" which introduced hip hop to a wider and more mainstream R&B audience. Grandmaster Melle Mel & The Furious Five had further hits with "Step Off", "Pump Me Up", "King of the Streets", "Jesse", and "Vice", the latter being released on the soundtrack to the TV show Miami Vice. "Jesse" was a highly political song which urged people to vote for then presidential candidate Jesse Jackson.
In 1988, after an almost four-year layoff, Mel and Flash reunited and released the album On The Strength, but with up-and-coming new school artists such as Eric B. & Rakim, DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, Public Enemy, Boogie Down Productions, and Big Daddy Kane dominating the hip-hop market, the album failed miserably. Mel performed with The King Dream Chorus and Holiday Crew on "King Holiday" aimed at having Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday declared a national holiday. Mel also performed with Artists United Against Apartheid on the anti-apartheid song "Sun City" which was aimed at discouraging other artists from performing in South Africa until its government ended its policy of apartheid. Mel ended the decade by winning two Grammy Awards for his work on Quincy Jones' Back On The Block and Q – The Autobiography of Quincy Jones albums.
In 1995 Duran Duran did a cover version of "White Lines" featuring performances from Grandmaster Flash and Melle Mel and released it as the second single from the Duran Duran covers album Thank You':.
In 1996, Mel contributed vocals to the US edition of Cher's hit "One By One". Their version is only available on the maxi CD format.
In 1997, Melle Mel signed to Straight Game Records and released Right Now, an album which features Scorpio (from the Furious Five) and Rondo. This album took more of a harder rap style. It barely sold at all in the US and the UK.
Mel and Ralph McDaniels a.k.a. Uncle Ralph
In 2001, under the name Die Hard, he released the song "On Lock" with Rondo on the soundtrack of the movie Blazin. Die Hard released an album of the same name in 2002 on 7PRecords.
On November 14, 2006, Mel collaborated with author Cricket Casey and released the children's book The Portal In The Park, which comes with a bonus CD of his rapped narration. It also features two songs, "World Family Tree" and "The Fountain of Truth", by a then unknown Lady Gaga performing with Mel. The book was re-released in 2010. Also in 2006, Melle Mel attended professional wrestling school. In 2007 (at age 45), he stated in an interview with allhiphop.com that "I'm going to try to take some of John Cena's money and get with WWE and do my thing".
On January 30, 2007, Mel released his first ever solo album, Muscles. The first single and music video was "M3 – The New Message". On March 12, 2007, Melle Mel and The Furious Five (joined by DJ Grandmaster Flash) became the first rap group ever inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In his acceptance speech, Mel implored the recording industry members in attendance to do more to restore hip hop to the culture of music and art that it once was, rather than the culture of violence that it has become. He added, "I've never been shot, I've never been arrested, and I've been doing hip hop all my life. I can't change things all by myself. We need everybody's help, so let's do it and get this thing done."
On October 10, 2008, Mel appeared on Bronx-based culinary adventure show Bronx Flavor alongside host Baron Ambrosia. In the episode "Night at the Bodega", he appears as a spiritual mentor to sway the Baron from his over-indulgent ways and get him on the right path to success.
In April 2011, it was revealed that he would take part in a new hip hop/pro wrestling collaboration, the Urban Wrestling Federation. Its first bout "First Blood" was recorded in June 2011.
Mel also appeared in Ice-T's 2012 hip hop documentary Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap.
In August 2015, Mel appeared with Kool Moe Dee and Grandmaster Caz in Macklemore and Ryan Lewis's song and music video "Downtown".
In May 2016, Mel and Scorpio, performing as Grandmaster's Furious Five ft. Melle Mel & Scorpio, released their single "Some Kind of Sorry"

An Irish metal fans tape trading list.
From the Wikipedia article on Tape Trading:
Tape trading was a postal system reliant, penfriend style nature of an underground network that relied heavily on the cooperation of fans of different musical genres worldwide as well as the acts being promoted this way themselves eschewing any copyright in order to further spread their notoriety. Acts that gained a following through this might land a record deal.
The ad hoc system relied on a system of trust, meaning that tapes were swapped in a kind of honor system; those who did not subscribe to this ethos and received tapes without returning the favor accordingly would become known as 'rip-offs' or 'rip-off traders' and were regarded with scorn. Flyers advertising gigs, recordings and other merchandises for sale were often swapped in conjunction with tape trading. Music that had been licensed to record companies (therefore subject to copyright) and released in the format of Vinyl records, CD and MC (musicassette) was also pirated onto blank compact cassette medium and traded, although this was in infringement of both unofficial 'rules' of the network and actual copyright law itself.
Many traders would, unrequested, fill unused space on the C-60 and C-90 tapes of demos they compiled for fellow traders with local bands in which they were members, or acolytes of. This led to a musical cross-pollination between geographically diverse and disparate areas such as Scandinavia, USA and the UK and their own bands/scenes. One notable example of how initial contact through tape trading lent to this trend is in the case of Righteous Pigs guitarist Mitch Harris who hailed from Las Vegas and Birmingham's Mick Harris, drummer with Napalm Death (not related) who would later collaborate writing and recording music, Mitch Harris would eventually relocate to the UK for this purpose. The very nature of the system ensured that recordings would decrease in sound quality with each trade and would in extreme circumstance become almost unlistenable, although the advent of recordable CDs helped the preservation of sound quality of recordings throughout trades. The popularization of broadband internet and digital music in its various forms has led to music by unsigned acts being swapped electronically and therefore tape trading through the postal system is considered by most to be outdated.

So I’m seeing a surprising number of people who are disappointed by the Live Album announcement, either because of the specific track list or because it’s a compilation album or because it feels like a money grab or whatever.
And people can feel however they want to about this, and no one is going to force you to buy any of the products associated with the Live Album launch... but let’s take a moment and really think about this, okay?
“Why did it have to be a compilation album? Why could it just be a recording of the Rhapsody Tour?”
Maybe Queen doesn’t have a full recording of a Rhapsody Tour show. The only clip they’ve shown with any regularity is the Fat Bottomed Girls in Dallas, which is the one being included on this album. Just because they have some video from the Rhapsody Tour doesn’t mean that they have an entire show that they’re able to release. It doesn’t seem like they recorded any of the Rhapsody Tour shows with the intention of releasing it as a live album and DVD, so they may have audio or video that just isn’t a good enough quality to put out.
Or maybe they do have that, and they’re holding off on releasing a Rhapsody Tour live album until after they complete the entire tour so they don’t spoil things for people who will be seeing them next year. There are people who are torn about buying this Live Album specifically because they’re still waiting to see Q+AL next year and they don’t want to spoil the experience. I can’t blame Brian, Roger, and Adam for not wanting to release the full Rhapsody Tour footage if they even have it.
Personally, I like that it’s a compilation album because I like that we’re getting the full span of what Q+AL have done over the last decade or so! It’s makes for a rather nice tribute to their history together.
“Why didn’t they include ____? Why aren’t there more songs? It’s so short!”
Again, they’re probably working with whatever they have! They need not only good video of a song, but also good audio of it as well. If the only have one of those two things they can’t include it on the Live Album.
Also in terms of length, this album has a similar number of tracks as Live Killers. Yes, it’s not a full two-hour concert and it’s shorter than releases like Live at Wembley and Rock Montreal, but it’s not an obscenely short release. The audio formats will have 20 tracks, the DVDs will have 22. That’s still a respectable length, at least IMO.
“Why is so much of it taken up by the Fire Fight concert? We’ve seen so many of these clips before! Give us something new!”
Again, they are working with what they have! We keep seeing the same clips from them because these are the professionally-filmed clips that they have that are suitable for release.
There’s also the issue that some of the professionally-filmed material that they have, they might not be able to release. They’ve included one song from the Global Citizen Festival, but that doesn’t mean they were able to get permission to include more (depending on who owns what rights to the video content, and since Global Citizen in general is the organization who uploads those video clips to youtube I’m assuming they have some say in the matter here).
Furthermore, Q+AL already had a Japan-only release of the Summer Sonic 2014 performance so they may only be able to re-release a certain number of those tracks depending on what arrangements were made for Live in Japan. (Personally, I’d like to see Live in Japan get a worldwide release and I’m disappointed that that hasn’t happened.)
Queen, apparently, owns or was able to get the full rights to the Fire Fight concert. And I know that people feel that we’ve seen that a thousand times before (and I’m given to understand that our Australian fans have, because it was shown on TV there) but at least in the US the only youtube uploads of it are on unofficial accounts. I don’t think it’s fair to assume that since you, personally, have a bootleg of something that means that everyone does or that everyone is as tired of it as you are.
Also, for better or for worse, the Fire Fight set is somewhat iconic/historic/whatever because it’s the Live Aid recreation. You might not love that (personally, I’m meh about it) but it does make for a good ending for a live album because of that and I can’t fault Queen for wanting to include it.
“If they weren’t planning on doing a live album, they shouldn’t have made one then! Putting together this material is just a cash grab!”
Okay, but is it though?
There’s a demand for this material. Yes, bootlegs exist. Yes, you can rip the audio off of youtube. But I for one am very excited to own Q+AL performances on an official album, especially since Brian said not too long ago that whatever material they’ve recorded with Adam in the studio isn’t fit to be released.
Everything is priced reasonably well. The clothing is maybe a bit expensive, but it’s still in line with the rest of Queen’s products and their tour merch so I’m not mad about it. But the vinyl, CD, DVD, etc. aren’t exorbitantly overpriced, even though Queen very easily could have jacked up the price of everything especially the LP.
They may not have been planning this, in the sense that they set out to record a specific concert to release as a live album like they did in the past with Live Killers, Live at Wembley, Rock Montreal, etc. But the demand is there, and this is a good stopgap between tours that doesn’t ruin the spectacle of the Rhapsody Tour for those who haven’t seen it yet.
Anyway, here are my final thoughts...
There’s definitely a subset of fans who are going to be disappointed by this release. Personally, there’s a reason why I haven’t pre-ordered a DVD or blu-ray and it’s entirely because I don’t think the video will contain enough new material for me to be Super Invested in owning an original copy of it. I’m fine acquiring a bootleg once that hits the internet, that doesn’t bother me.
But I am really, really excited about owning the vinyl. I’m excited about Q+AL finally releasing a proper album together, so I can finally listen to their performances without it having to be ripped from a youtube video. I’m so excited to hear how they sound on vinyl, and I will absolutely be buying a digital copy of the album once it’s out as well.
At the end of the day, this wasn’t planned months in advance and they’re working with whatever material they already have on hand, not anything that they’ve purposefully recorded for this sole purpose. That means that there’s going to be limitations in what they can release, not because they don’t care or because this was rushed but because there are other factors at play here.
You don’t have to be excited about this, but throwing around accusations of Queen doing this as a “cash grab” just feels really mean-spirited. As Roger said in the press release, they had this idea after seeing the response that they got to the youtube fundraiser video - I don’t have any reason to doubt that that’s true, and that means that they’re responding directly to what fans want and working with what they have to make that happen.

Convert MP3 To WAV, WMA To MP3, VOX To MP3, MPC To MP3
Though MP3 is the most popular format for compressing digital audio, there are literally dozens of different formats from which to decide on, together with AAC, Windows Media Audio (WMA), Ogg Vorbis and MPC, to call just a few. In search of some software program which is able to convert MPC to MP3 format. I've tried just a few now, and the output MP3 files have very dangerous high quality, regardless that I set the file output high quality to the highest settings. Vorbis was first released in 2000 and grew in reputation on account of two reasons: first, it adheres to the ideas of open supply software, and second, it performs considerably better than most other lossy compression formats (i.e. produces a smaller file measurement for equivalent audio high quality). Any Audio Converter is a flexible audio converter and audio extractor with user-pleasant interface and highly effective functions. As an audio converter, Any Audio Converter can convert audio between MP3, WMA, WAVE, AAC, M4A and OGG formats as well as convert different unprotected audio codecs. As an audio extractor, Any Audio Converter can extract audio from all well-liked video formats and on-line movies from YouTube, Google Video and Nico Video. 4U WMA MP3 Converter can even convert MPC, AVI, MP1, MP2, MPA, g721, g726, g723 or UNCOOKED to MP3, WAV, WMA, OGG, or VOX formats, and normalize MP3 to MP3, WMA to WMA, WAV to WAV, OGG to OGG, VOX to VOX. A: This can be a good query, however unfortunately, the short reply is YES. Since MP3 is a lossy audio format, converting any audio formats (e.g. MPC) to MP3 is a quality-loss course of, but with the construct-in Lame MP3 encoder, the encoded MP3 recordsdata sound like a devoted reproduction of the original MPC music collections to most listeners. Uncompressed audio is strictly what it feels like: real sound waves that have been captured and converted to digital format with none further processing. In consequence, uncompressed audio recordsdata are usually probably the most accurate but take up a LOT of disk house — about 34 MB per minute for jeannagooseberry5.wordpress.com 24-bit ninety six KHz stereo. iTunes is ubiquitous and cross-platform with Home windows and Mac OS X support, and can handle the conversions simply, or mpc mp3 converter free you'll be able to go with the free download known as All2MP3 that will convert the audio too. Free Lossless Audio Codec (FLAC) is a file format for lossless audio data compression. Being lossless, FLAC does not take away data from the audio stream, as lossy compression codecs similar to MP3, AAC, and Vorbis do. FLAC's main writer is Josh Coalson. FLAC reduces bandwidth and storage requirements without sacrificing the integrity of the audio source. A digital audio recording (equivalent to a CD observe) encoded to FLAC can be decompressed into an identical copy of the audio knowledge. Audio sources encoded to FLAC are sometimes reduced in size forty to 50 p.c (46% in response to their very own comparability). FLAC is suitable for on a regular basis audio playback and archival, with assist for tagging, cover artwork and fast looking for. FLAC's free and open supply royalty-free nature makes it effectively-supported by many software purposes, however FLAC playback help in moveable audio units and devoted audio programs is limited at this time. MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 Audio Layer III, extra commonly referred to as MP3, is an audio coding format for digital audio which uses a form of lossy data compression. It's a common audio format for shopper audio streaming or storage, in addition to a de facto commonplace of digital audio compression for the transfer and playback of music on most digital audio players. If you wish to put the information on an iPod, or simply retailer them in iTunes in a compact type, MP3 can be a good selection. Nevertheless, there are some experiences that when run on battery, current iPods can struggle or crash when taking part in MP3s created in applications aside from iTunes. So you might want to export as WAV or AIFF from Audacity and convert the recordsdata to MP3 in iTunes as a substitute. MPEG-2.5 was not developed by MPEG (see above) and was by no means authorized as a global customary. MPEG-2.5 is thus an unofficial or proprietary extension to the MP3 format.
