lets discuss this conversation and why it's so important

everyone loves to talk about the "every version of me is still me" part of this dialogue. rightfully so, kaoru's words have tons of power and meaning, especially on misaki as a person.

but i wanted to talk about another part of this conversation that is typically not talked about, but is super important and essential when thinking about WHY misaki felt comfortable with kaoru.

kaoru warming misaki up to her. let me explain.

kaoru doesn't come up to misaki immediately asking for answers and pressing misaki to talk about her issues (which happens with other members, especially kokoro and hagumi, which doesn't help misaki much and she gets upset right away). instead, she's very clever with it.

she asks misaki about a guitar phrasing that she has. it seems simple, and i looked over it for YEARS until it finally clicked that this was important.

let's consider why the 2nd band story happened in the first place. misaki's jobs were being taken by the other members, thinking it would help her. instead, she felt like she had nothing to do and felt like she was not needed in the group. this leads to misaki being very distant, pushing everyone away and contemplating who she is.

so, when you think about it, the little tidbit that kaoru asks misaki for advice is really important. kaoru asks for advice and her thoughts, which misaki does end up answering and helping:

and this is an insanely smart move on kaoru's part. if you don't get what i'm saying, i'll flesh it out in greater depth.

by having misaki physically do her job again, she's having misaki basically prove to herself that she is worthy and that she is needed in the band. she has a place. and kaoru essentially doesn't use words, she has misaki physically do it.

and it's not like her efforts go to waste. misaki is clearly calmer and happier after this action:

the aspect of her doing something important again is really something essential. it's the central aspect of misaki's problems. and kaoru as well as the rest of the band knows that. but, kaoru has a different approach compared to everyone else. and it ends up working successfully.

kaoru is extremely smart, she is incredibly underestimated by a lot of the fandom, she can read misaki like an open book and do whatever she can to help her. she goes with the ways that misaki works with, not what kaoru herself can work with. she works around the idea of observing others and therefore can help them in proper ways.

tldr: kaoru is insanely smart and deserves way more credit
