jealousy, jealousy — nrk.
Tumblr media
trope. established relationship. overprotective / jealousy au.
synopsis. nishimura riki is stubborn and hard-headed, yet not even a fight can stop him from making sure no one bothers his girlfriend. who knew jealousy could look so good on riki? (2.1k words)
note. here’s to anon who requested for me to write jealous aus! realized i’ve never actually tried writing it before :0 the song btw has nothing to do w the fic. just stole the title
Tumblr media
There’s nothing more unsettling than seeing you trying to talk to Nishimura Riki who is actively making it a point to avoid looking or speaking to you, despite being in the same vehicle.
Especially when you’re saying, gently, “Riki, I’m really sorry.”
Riki couldn’t bring himself to look at you. He was understandably upset, and there was an insistent voice in his head that told him to give you the silent treatment. Your boyfriend had the right to be annoyed – especially when he had spent hours prior in the day waiting for you at your favorite ice cream parlor.
It wasn’t like you had meant to stand him up on your date. You had been called back late by your teacher, and you had forgotten to inform Riki especially when your mind was a sea of responsibilities you had to tend to. And on most days, Riki would understand and forgive you in a heartbeat – even offer to help you with your workload.
He always said it was a stupid reason to be upset with, and it was in hindsight. However, it’s been a really long time since you’d last been on a date together.
With his dance competitions and your constant strive to keep your scholarship, the both of you were understandably busy. Spotting free time on both of your schedules was rare and you took every chance at spending time together when it happened.
Today was one of those days, and the plan was that you’d go on an ice cream date (just the two of you) before going to one of Jay’s famous parties. It didn’t help that Riki was particularly clingy today after having lost a spot in the Top 3 of his recent competition. He just wanted to be with you, to bask in your comfort, and to hold you in his arms as a reminder that there was always next time.
And you had accidentally robbed him of that. So, Nishimura Riki was upset with you.
“Riki–” You begin.
“Don’t.” He cut you off before you could even continue. “I don’t really want to talk to you right now.”
He surprised himself with how cold he spoke to you, guilt instantly settling in, but it was too late to take back his words. Besides, you knew never to take it to heart when Riki was upset. You’d just have to try again tomorrow, when he’d have enough time to calm himself down. So, you simply grow quiet as he pulls up the driveway of your shared friend’s house.
The night air is cold when you step out of the car, and you visibly shrug at the sudden coolness in contrast to the heat you had felt in the silence between you and your boyfriend. It’s only now that Riki allows himself to look at you. His gaze follows the gentle shaking of your shoulders and the clattering of your teeth as you wrap your arms around yourself in an attempt to warm yourself.
While he was angry, Riki was not a cruel boyfriend. Shrugging his jacket off, he places it on your shoulders gently, helping you adjust your arms in its sleeves to make sure that in the chill of the night and the air-conditioned party, you would not feel cold.
Before you can thank him, he starts walking for the door.
Poor Sunoo is unaware of the fight when you pull both of you in for a hug, bouncing in conversation and being greeted by an awkward string of responses from the both of you. He only understands the situation when you and Riki walk separate ways upon entering the party.
The music is unbearably loud, and Riki is the first one to go meet up with his friends. You walk the opposite direction in hopes of seeing a friend.
Truthfully, you did not want to be in this party right now. It was only ever fun when you were Riki, popping out an ankle biter or two as you’d make fun of the drunk teenagers around you. Time always stretched in meaningful ways when you were with him, blurred by silly dancing and excusing yourselves to pull pranks on your friends.
“(Name)!” You spot Felix, a good friend of Jake, approaching you with a smile on his face. He gives you a side hug, immediately noticing the lack of your boyfriend by your side. “Where’s Riki?” You return the warm smile at the boy, politely acknowledging him. You don’t really want to tell him you weren’t with Riki because you had a fight, so you settle with a little white lie.
“He’s downstairs. I’m looking for a friend.” Felix nods his head, patting your head before he’s called by Hyunjin. “Well, I’ll leave you to it. I’ll see you around!” With one last tap on the shoulder, Felix heads towards the direction of his friend, leaving you to walk around by yourself again.
You grow more anxious upon not spotting a single close friend in the party after roaming around the house for a good fifteen minutes. Then again, Jay’s space was huge and it’d be impossible to look through every space and crevice in search of a friend.
You had hoped maybe Yuna or Yunjin were around so you could pass time through conversation and gossip. However, fate doesn’t hand you luck tonight.
On the other side of the party, Riki is seated with his friends – Sunghoon and Jake joking around with a beer in hand as they chat about their recent flings, Sunoo off to dance with friends, Heeseung and Jay busying themselves to make sure the partygoers were accommodated with enough food and drinks, and Jungwon who is concerned why his friend is awfully quiet tonight with the absence of your usual figure next to him.
“Where’s (name)?” Jungwon starts.
“We had a fight.” Riki’s response is pointed as he glances at Jungwon before going back to people-watching. It’s like he doesn’t want to say it. Riki hates fighting with you – and while it was normal to occasionally fight in healthy relationships, it didn’t mean Riki hated it any less. However, he was stubborn and hardheaded, and that insistent voice has not left his head.
“Oh. I’m sorry to hear that.” Jungwon blinks, unsure of how to respond. He wasn’t sure if Riki wanted him to keep pushing at the topic or not. Going for the safe option, Jungwon keeps his mouth shut as he excuses himself to go help Jay and Heeseung.
While heading for the kitchen, Jungwon spots you seated on another couch in the living room, scrolling through your phone. Next to you is Chaewon who looks like she’s in a peaceful slumber despite the loud music and the crowd of people.
When you catch sight of the boy, he waves at you politely before he disappears into the crowd.
You hum to yourself. You suppose you should just leave in a bit after Chaewon wakes up. Besides, it wasn’t really a bother having her lean her head on your shoulder, and you didn’t really want to wake her to leave the party you had just joined.
You’re less fortunate with the man seated on your left.
He had been trying to talk to you the whole time you were looking for a friend (after Felix had left your side), and he had sat down next to you the moment you grew tired.
When Jungwon disappears, the boy next to you perks up and starts quizzing you on your name, which school you went to, what year you were in. He honestly seemed friendly, noticing your lack of mood for the party and attempting to lighten it up a little. But, you did not feel like answering him.
Perhaps he was trying to make a friend, but you were too preoccupied on how you were going to apologize to Riki tomorrow. And, he was being a little too creepy about not leaving you alone.
He tries asking you open-ended questions, tries to be quirky by asking conversation-inducing questions, but you really had nothing to say that might be of interest to him.
“You look like you aren’t enjoying yourself.” You’re ripped out of your thoughts at his constant efforts at a conversation, and when you start to feel properly awkward, you feel his arm slide behind you, dangling on the couch and inching impossibly closer to you. Maybe he wasn’t trying to make a friend after all.
You silently pray in your head for Chaewon to wake up so you could peel yourself away from the situation.
You stutter over your own words, trying to think of a way to tell him you really weren’t in the mood to have a conversation with a stranger, and you’re sure Riki wasn’t too big of a fan of someone else trying to be touchy with you.
While you appreciated his efforts at trying to make you enjoy yourself, you can’t help but think that he had ulterior motives, and you were sure your boyfriend wouldn’t appreciate that.
Was the oversized jacket you’re wearing not clue enough that you had a boyfriend?
“Yo, who’s that next to (name)?” Riki’s ears perk up at the mention of your name, back straightening as he tries to listen in on Jake and Sunghoon’s conversation.
“Riki, I think someone’s trying to chat your girlfriend up.” Sunghoon looks behind him to look at Riki who has grown intimidatingly silent at his comment. Motioning over to where you’re seated, Riki pushes himself off from the couch, peering over in search of his girlfriend in the crowd.
Jake and Sunghoon were right. In his view, he spots a stupid looking boy trying to impress you – and you were clearly not having it. Riki feels his head start to ache and his fists clench by his side. He grips his phone tighter, knuckles turning white at the sight that greets him.
The icy grip of jealousy that seeps through his veins is overwhelming. You’re smiling politely at the boy, and Riki knows you’re trying to think of a million ways to get away from the situation. He doesn’t understand why he feels jealous. It’s not like you even wanted to talk to that boy.
Then it clicks. Maybe that’s why. Because here you were, seated with some boy who has his hand on your shoulder when it should’ve been him. And all of this is happening just because he was upset at you for your lack of communication from a while ago.
Nishimura Riki couldn’t take it anymore.
Locked and loaded behind gritted teeth and popping veins on his neck, he makes his way through the crowd, stopping right in front of you and the cause of his annoyance. “The fuck do you think you’re doing?” Riki glares down at the boy beside you. “That’s my girlfriend, so get your hands off her.”
The sight of Riki is enough to send bullets of sweat down the boy’s forehead. With a newfound fear, the boy straightens up from his seat, pulling his arm off of you before raising it in defeat. “Dude, my bad. She was here alone, how should I have known she had a boyfriend?”
“Go fuck yourself.” Riki’s face flashes in your direction and his features soften at a ridiculously fast pace. He reaches out to take your hand in his before gently tugging you off of the couch, apologizing to Chaewon in the process while he takes you outside.
Riki pulls you in for a hug. He doesn’t care how upset he was with you, he needed to make sure you were okay. With his hand running through your back and his lips pressed on top of your head, he feels his mood instantly lighten.
He pulls away, brushing your hair off your face before asking quietly, “Are you okay?”
You thought about it for a second before nodding your head, smiling gratefully at him. You know he was upset with you (he might still be), and Riki tended to be stubborn and hardheaded when it came to arguments. It was just nice to know that even then, he always had your back. Even if he was angry or upset or annoyed, you knew you could always count on him to be there for you.
“You wanna go home?”
You nod your head, scooting closer to him. He knows that you just need him so he takes your hand in his, leading you over to where he had parked the car. “Maybe some ice cream to make it up to you?”
“Okay. I’m still upset, by the way.”
“I know. I love you.”
“...Love you too.”

So! What about the god ok switch-a-roo? The pillarmen are now human and their s/os are pillarmen!
I interpreted this request as body swapping (similar to what we see in a much later part of JoJo) and I hope this is what you meant, my dear Anon! 🙏❤🥰
If not and you meant for me to write this in another way, I am SO sorry I misinterpreted the request and I sincerely hope you still enjoy this nonetheless! 😅😇
Body swapping with the Pillarmen! 😱 🔁
(Under the cut for length!)
Tumblr media
Kars:
• Ending up in your body will piss Kars off more than anything really.
• Don't get him wrong, he loves you with all his heart; it's just that he's a man who is rather comfortable in his superiority and status over your race.
• He had worked VERY hard to get himself where he wanted to be afterall...
• Suddenly being reduced to a mere Human is enough to make his (er... your) stomach turn.
• Kars' new "limitations" in your body however didn't stop him from working out how this happened and, more importantly, how to UNDO it ASAP.
• When you happen to come to in Kars' body, the feeling is unsettling and strange to say the least.
• Piloting not only a Pillarmans body but Ultimate lifeform's as well will take you some getting used to for sure.
• For one thing, you'll come to find his hair gets in the way of EVERYTHING.
• If the wind blows or if you happen to turn sharply it's suddenly in your (well... his, but you get the idea) mouth or sticking in your eyes or just plain in your face!
• You can't understand how he stands it at all!
• There's no time for you to ask him to teach you how to wrap it up like he does either to remedy the issue so you have to grin and bear it.
• On the other hand, even the slightest jump in your emotions makes his arm blades spring forth!
• You almost ended up accidentally stabbing Kars (while he was in your body) as a result of getting worked up over the whole matter.
• Kars could only watch you floundering about in his body, frowning and shaking your human head as he told you repeatedly to keep calm and they'll stay put.
• As if you could keep level-headed at all in this situation as it was.
• On the upside ot things however... you learn some interesting things about Kars.
• "...Wait." you paused, peering down at the muscular legs beneath you; your eyes bore into Kars' boots with a critical gaze. There was something cushy sitting just below the heel on the inside.
• "Do you... have cloth wedged into your boots?" A sangria eyebrow raised, ruby eyes falling onto Kars.
• You watched as the features of your own face shifted dramatically, mouth falling open, scandalized. "I--" he began, but your voice fell short as he couldn't find anything to say in defense.
• "Do you do this to make yourself look taller?" A wheeze rose up in the Pillarman's chest, rich barking laughter ringing out as you doubled over in laughter.
• You suddenly came to the realization that you had never once seen Kars without his boots off, the pumps at the very bottom of the boots gave him a little boost as it was but on the inside it quite literally felt like you were wearing a pair of high heels.
• You were starting to wonder just how tall Kars really was. Hell, you were starting to wonder if he even passed Santana in height without these boots on!
• Your laughter fell short as a familiar, much smaller, hand reached up and grabbed your new body by the scarf. You were hauled down to meet the burning and intense gaze of your own eyes, Kars snarling right up into his own face.
• Jeeze, had your face always looked that red when you got angry before?
• "If you speak of this to ANYONE, I will spill each and every one of your own secrets to the others," he growled lowly, giving your voice an uncharacteristically harsh and grating tone. "Am I clear?"
• It took all you had inside not to call him "shortie" once things were finally back to the way they were and you both settled back into your own bodies.
• Despite your curiosity, your question on his exact height would never get answered.
• Kars knew how to put those arm blades to use better than you of course...
Esidisi:
• Oh boy... you have to be VERY careful piloting this one.
• And I mean the absolute definition of careful!
• When your consciousness ends up transfered into Esidisi's body, its no surprise that you feel very warm and fuzzy on the inside.
• It's almost a feeling akin to when you sit just a little too long in a bath that's a little too hot.
• Strangely, it was actually kind of a comforting feeling amongst this whole ordeal.
• However, if you're not careful with your emotions (warm and fuzzy feeling or not) than you might just accidentally end up burning a hole right through the Earth!
• Or worse... end up spraying scalding hot blood and flaying fleshy veins dripping with the stuff in all directions.
• Your core temperature has to constantly be monitored or you'll pay the price.
• It seems like even if you unfocus for one singular second, the Pillarman's entire body starts to smolder like a cake burning in an oven!
• Esidisi, on the other hand, is actually quite enjoying being in your body.
• He's having a much better time than you are for sure. In fact, he's laughing like this is nothing more than a game to him!
• You'll have to keep your eyes on him because he can't keep his (or rather, your) hands off your body.
• "Esidisi!" You barked, the Pillarman's voice was like the clap of thunder as it raised in octave; clearing the air with its power and inevitably startling you (again) even though you were the one wielding it. "Get your hands out of there, right now!"
• Your command was met with laughter, you watched as a wide grin stretched across your own face as Esidisi pried your hands off of your behind (for the 3rd time) and tucked them neatly into your pockets as he continued to giggle to himself.
• "I wasn't doing anything~" he purred, making your voice sound uncannily like a bad child playing innocent, acting wasn't just caught squeezing your cake.
• He was being to curious for his own good.
• That and the fact that he's taking enjoyment out of little ordinary Human things while piloting your body
• Things like feeling actual pain when skin is pinched or when hair is pulled seemed like it could entertain him for hours on end.
• If you don't keep a close eye on him and his shenanigans, you might just end up getting your body back all banged and bruised up if he goes too far with his fun.
• Fair enough, as he might just get his back half-burned into the ground or covered in blood...
Wamuu:
• Wamuu straight up does NOT have a good time dealing with suddenly being Human.
• The fact that it's your body he's in doesn't help that any either.
• 12/10 would NOT do again. 0 STARS!
• Wamuu, always a composed and calculating Warrior and tactician, was now in full panic mode.
• All his life he carried himself with pride, building his little ego off all his strengths and victories because of his status and his incredible unmatchable power.
• Now, with all of that ripped away from him, the Warrior felt too vulnerable and naked for his liking in this Human form.
• "Ow! OW!!!" Wamuu cried, eyes wide as your hands flew to your back. "Why does it hurt there? Do you always have pain like this?" Came the question, it was more than strange (and a little unsettling) to hear your own voice asking you that so desperately.
• "You get used to it." You replied, the deepness of the Pillarman's voice sending deep vibrations through the hardened chest as you spoke.
• "Why-- Why does this body feel so sluggish? I feel so inexplicably weary..." "I know. You get used to that too." "WHY IS EVERYTHING SORE?! WHY IS EVERYTHING CREAKING?!" "It's fine. That's normal."
• On the other hand, your mind suddenly being swapped into Wamuu's body isn't quite as bad as being in the others but... there are still some things to get used to.
• For one thing, it was hard to get used to simply walking around in it.
• Wamuu was so immensely big, muscular and heavy that you felt as if you were shaking the Earth with each step, causing you to lumber and stumble around with no grace to speak of.
• For another, a wirlwind just seemed to follow you wherever you went. It was honestly harder to control than it looked!
• When you wanted it to move one way, it went another. Wind blew up, wind blew down.
• You found yourself standing around, massive hands flying to the loincloth in an attempt to keep it from flinging up and showing too much.
• You wanted to spare least a shred of Wamuu's lost dignity while he wasn't piloting his own body after all.
• His horn is an entirely different matter.
• At one point the breeze blew too strong and the Pillarmen's signature headpiece suddenly flew right off his head and then... out sprang the horn.
• It shot 18 feet into the air, skewering two trees and drilling right through them like an overcharged power drill; a terrifying whir filling the air as chunks of wood flayed in every direction.
• The entire time you screamed in terror (you had no idea Wamuu's voice could go so high until that moment), slicing through an entire plot of trees as Wamuu yelled for you to put it away before it went for something breathing... like your own body that he was currently inhabiting.
• In the end, the relief you both feel to be back in your own bodies once the entire mess is fixed is immeasurable.
• You also both agree to never speak of the experience again for as long as you live.
Santana:
• Much like Kars, Santana is more unimpressed about the whole thing rather than upset or worried.
• Apart from you of course, Santana just barely tolerated Humans (or Primitives as he liked to call them) as it was.
• He often spoke about how fragile and flawed your kind was, honestly the defenselessness of a Human was laughable in his eyes.
• Therefore, he absolutely does NOT like suddenly being reduced to one, even if it is your body.
• The entire time he's practically pouting, the very definition of apathetic, grumbling to himself and following close behind as you tried to chase down the person responsible for the swap.
• "This form is... limiting." Came the low growl, each word sounding so very unlike you despite the fact it was your voice he was using. Santana practically spat as he kept talking, "Flawed. Primal. Defenseless."
• You were handling things admittedly better than Santana but it was still more than overwhelming.
• For one thing, you'll come to find that Santana's senses are extremely heightened.
• You never realized how very unbelieveably strong a sense of smell, taste and hearing could be until now.
• You could smell animals that had passed through the area nearly a fortnight ago just by putting your nose to the air. You could hear the thumping of your own heart from where it sat back in your own chest as Santana followed close at your heels.
• For another thing... Santana's body felt... odd.
• It was a strange and indescribable feeling; it was best put as you felt like a substance that constantly balanced between solid and liquid.
• How on Earth could he stand being a living mass of puddy and sharp deadly bones all the time?!
• As Santana kept grumbling about how very imperfect his new form was, your only hope was to give him that huge bag of gummy bears you had been saving in your bag for later to snack on.
• It would give you a moment of silence to think straight. However, if Santana was himself that would've been a good idea but in this case... not so much.
• "What's wrong?" You questioned, the Pillarman's gravely voice holding a different tone than you were used to as you used it, studying him.
• Santana had suddenly stopped following and was now slumped over, clutching at your stomach. A low whine surfaced, almost a sob, as he spoke through clenched teeth.
• "Do.... not.... feel..... good." Came the whimper. You came rushing to his side, your temorary body dwarfing your real one as you pulled Santana close to see if he had somehow gotten hurt.
• "What--" the question fell short as you spied the now very empty bag of gummy bears laying nearby.
• That bag had been huge, filled to the brim with bright and colourful gushy candy... and Santana had eaten ALL of them.
• It was that day that Santana found out that a Humans biggest flaw was that too much sugar made them sick.
• Good luck with enjoying getting your body back when the time comes as you now suspected you would spend your time kneeled over a bucket with a hot water bottle instead of celebrating...

Sun and Fun (S2, E12)
Tumblr media
I can’t believe FOX has cancelled this absolute masterpiece of a show. I’m devastated. I’d like to think we’ll get picked up by another network for season 3 but I’m a pessimist and I don’t want to get my hopes up. I’ll be hanging around the fandom either way though.
My time-stamped thoughts for this episode are below. As always I reference Malcolm’s mental health. A lot. So if that’s going to be a trigger for you, don’t keep reading.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
0:20 - Malcolm losing it in Martin’s cell? *chef’s kiss*. 1) excellent performance by Tom. 2) This is the Malcolm mental health content I subscribed for. This is Malcolm feeling overwhelmed, helpless, worthless, and frustrated all at the same time. This. Is. Wonderful. And. Realistic. This is what overwhelming anxiety (especially if you have an anxiety disorder) can feel like. It builds and builds until all of a sudden you’re consumed with all this nervous energy and frustration and it all turns to rage in an instant. But you’re not angry at other people. You don’t want to hurt anyone. That rage is just self hatred because you hate that you feel this broken and your stupid brain won’t function normally.
0:33 - annnnd then when the excess nervous energy is spent but that feeling of self-hatred, despair, and fear still remains - you’re physically exhausted and 7/10. times you cry. Again, crying because of how stupid you feel for your little rage outburst, for how stupid you feel for feeling this terrible all the time. Malcolm is depicting a severe anxiety episode perfectly (in my experience) and THIS is why FOX is moronic for cancelling the show. The gorgeous and accurate depictions of mental health in Prodigal Son is unprecedented, truthful, and heartbreaking. It’s like nothing else on television.
0:50 - This kind of hurts. Look at how cautiously Dani enters the room. Almost as if Malcolm is a wild animal she doesn’t want to scare. It makes sense given the state of the room she just entered and how completely openly and uncharacteristically vulnerable Malcolm is. I will say this though, despite how cautious she is, it’s obvious that she cares about Malcolm more than whatever happened before she walked into the room.
1:03 - “So all eyes are on his head case son right?” This line is a direct quote from Malcolm’s anxiety disorder and depression. This is how you feel about yourself when in the middle of an anxiety episode when you’re also depressed. BUT OUR GIRL DANI!!! <3 This girl looks confused and concerned to hear Malcolm diss himself like that. The fact that she tries to comfort him when he’s in this state, makes her an absolutely A++ friend.
1:11 - “No one cares about that.” “I CARE. I can’t live like this.” This scene resonates with me so so so much. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been 100% aware of how irrational my anxieties are and simultaneously 100% unable to do a damn thing about it because I’m too scared of who I’d be without the fear. Because I’ve defined myself by my anxieties for so long that it’s become the only definable element of my personality visible to me. I’m getting that vibe from Malcolm. I’m sure that’s exactly how he’s feeling right now.
1:30 - “That’s not what scares you. What scares you is living the rest of your life without your father in it.” Dani knows and I felt personally called out. THIS EMOTIONAL WHUMP IS GIVING ME LIFE. <3
1:39 - Look at our floppy haired, devastated boy. :( <3 I’m genuinely shook that he didn’t have a full mental breakdown this episode (but it’s coming....it’s inevitable at this point :) ). ALSO the look of absolute love and concern Dani is shooting towards Malcolm? Absolutely perfect. <3
1:51 - I genuinely find it so interesting that Malcolm keeps referring to “The Surgeon” as “Martin”. If you read my thoughts on 2x11 you know I think it’s because Malcolm has separated ‘Martin Whitly’ into three separate people in his head. “The Surgeon” = the serial killer who traumatized him and ruined his childhood. “Dad/Father” = the man who loved and cared for baby!Malcolm. But “Martin” = unknown. Malcolm doesn’t know who Martin is yet and it scares him.
1:58 - “For once in your life slow down and acknowledge what this is doing to you.” !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love this line. So. So. SO. MUCH. <3 <3 This is the kind of comfort Malcolm needs. SOMEONE needs to tell him that he’s breaking, it’s not his fault, and he doesn’t deserve to suffer for Martin.
2:07 - annnnnnd Malcolm has gone full crazy-person string murder board. He’s right but he’s still acting like a manic crazy person. Like, a real one. Not his usual manic behaviour. This is straight up - this boy needs medication, a nap, therapy, and a doctor. Now.
2:34 - Ugh. This whole cop/Vivian scene made my skin crawl. So gross. So creepy. I hate Capshaw. So much. This woman is manipulative, evil, and so so creepy. The cop was also gross. But I 100% thought she was going to kill the cop because this felt like an opening scene to Criminal Minds.
4:38 - “THEY WERE HAVING SEX.” hhahahahahahaha holy shit. This is both hilarious and really upsetting (not just because Martin/Capshaw is NASTY). Malcolm is manically, yelling about his theories in a room full of people who love him. He sounds crazy. He’s acting crazy and Dani, JT, and Gil are just staring at him with a mixture of disbelief, concern, and sympathy. <3 It’s heartbreaking. Malcolm is an inch away from a mental breakdown. I’m here for it.
4:49 - “TMI bro.” <3
5:05 - Ugh. This breaks my heart. The team doesn’t think Malcolm is crazy. They just know he’s at the end of his rope. The looks they’re exchanging aren’t based in anger, contempt, or a lack of trust. They’re based in concern and I LOVE IT.
5:21 - LOOK AT OUR BABY. He’s breaking. He’s so close. :( Look at how desperate he is to find Martin.
5:35 - “That’s exactly what it means.” “Gil, please. You know how much I need this.” THIS HURTS. Gil isn’t angry here - he’s frustrated and scared for Malcolm. And Malcolm? This boy is toeing the line of a full breakdown in front of 3 of his favourite people - that’s out of character for him. Despite the shaking hand and general mania - Malcolm usually refrains from raising his voice in front of Dani and JT. He tries to stay calm-ish so he doesn’t get labelled as ‘violent’ like his serial killer father.
5:39 - “StOp. I am scared.” Dani knew exactly how to diffuse the situation. Malcolm can be manipulative and dysfunctional but he never wants to scare people (at least, not unless they’re suspects or obstructing justice).
5:46 - “I’m not ordering you this time. I’m begging you.” Papa!Gil’s seen Malcolm like this before. SO WHY IS NO ONE HUGGING MALCOLM?!?! The boy is clearly coming apart at the seams.
5:48 - Malcolm’s reaction to Gil sending him home is gorgeous. He looks sad, betrayed, and resigned. It’s as though he’s convinced himself that the team doesn’t trust him or care about him anymore. He doesn’t walk out angry. He walks out sad and determined. Head held high but eyes full of grief.
5:54 - I’d give anything to have heard the conversation between Dani, JT, and Gil after Malcolm left the room. ANYTHING.
6:02 - “He thinks I’m a liability.” No. Not exactly. He thinks Malcolm is in the throws of a mental health crisis and that he shouldn’t be responsible for catching his serial killer father. Again.
6:15 - “I support Gil’s decision. That does not mean I want your father dead.” #coparenting but also, true. I honestly don’t think Jessica wants Martin dead. I think she wants Ainsley and Malcolm to be happy and free from Martin but not dead. She knows that Malcolm might never recover from Martin’s death with all of his unanswered questions and suppressed childhood trauma. She also knows that Ainsley would always resent being prevented from bonding with her father. I think Jessica still loves Martin - well, the man she thought she married. Jessica doesn’t care for Martin Whitly. But she loves the man he pretended to be and even though she knows he wasn’t real - she doesn’t want him to die. I think she wants him to disappear (maybe get transferred to a prison in a different state?) but she doesn’t want him dead. That would make her no better than the serial killer (in Jessica’s mind anyways).
6:25 - “You have become consumed by this Malcolm.” Check out the side eyed look Ainsley gives Malcolm. She’s jealous. Her brother is on the verge of a mental breakdown but she’s jealous of the attention he’s getting from Jessica. I get it - Jessica hasn’t been the best mom to Ainsley. BUT GIRL, gain some perspective. Don’t you care about your brother?!?! That should trump the jealousy for a few minutes at least.
6:35 - “I love you.” <3 <3 <3 I’m going to cry. This might be my favourite Jessica+Malcolm moment to date. So precious.
6:43 - THIS. “I love you. Both of you. More than I hate him.” This is why Jessica doesn’t want Martin dead.....but she also doesn’t care if he lives. I know that sounds like a contradiction but it’s a real thing and if you’ve never felt that way about someone - I pray you never have to.
7:06 - “Then she’s a victim.” .....I disagree. Capshaw had a (weird and manipulative) consensual relationship with Martin. She has as much of an agenda as Martin (although, Jessica didn’t know that here). Capshaw isn’t a victim. She’s not being compliant with Martin as a form of self-preservation or fear. She’s doing it because she’s a manipulative crazy person who is in love with a convicted serial killer.
7:45 - I’ve never felt this unsettled while watching Prodigal Son. Capshaw showing her true colours is so so so disturbing. This woman is insane (with all the stigma). The dress. The martini (Jessica’s favourite drink?). The fact that she dressed Martin up in a suit. The music. The weirdly elegant wheelchair. The lovey way she’s talking. It all makes my skin crawl.
8:33 - OMG. What’s wrong with me? Why do I feel bad for Martin Whitly?!?!?!
9:55 - JESSICA AND MALCOLM doing a rich person ambush tag-team IS AMAZING. <3
9:57- How sad is this? 23 years and Jessica still can’t walk into a room without people whispering and judging her behind her back. :( This woman keeps her head held high - despite the pain she must be in - she’s a superhero. Change my mind.
10:30 - "Malcolm Whitly? You're.." I have this headcanon that the general public assumes Malcolm is dead. He changed his last name and fell off the grid. People treat Jessica like a social pariah so she wouldn't be able to tell them otherwise. And sure, Ainsley referred to Malcolm in the present tense during her Surgeon interview but how many people actually watched it actually paid attention to that little tidbit after Martin went full blown psychopath on camera? Plus, no one really cares about the Surgeon's son enough to look him up 23 years later. At least, no one who matters.
11:25 - Like mother, like son. You can't change my mind. They have the same manipulation style. It's justice based and determined. Ainsley and Martin's style? Vindictive and self-serving.
11:30 - Oh look. ANOTHER CONTINUITY ERROR. WHO PROOFREADS THESE SCRIPTS?!? I CAN’T KEEP OVERLOOKING THESE. For God’s sake. Send copies of the script to fans who sign NDAs or something. At least we know what happened in previous episodes.
12:33 - "Gross." I'm with Ainsley on this one.
12:45 - "My assistant." "Long suffering". hahahha omg. I love this for two reasons: 1) it's hilarious 2) it's true. Malcolm literally disposed of a body for Ainsley. He's her assistant and he's suffered for it.
13:05 - Yo. This dude is whack. Like this is some serious Stockholm's syndrome going on here. Vivian is his hero?!? .........I can't.
13:55 - Why do the gifts Vivian sends Zeiger look like human bones? Damn this is twisted. This is like some sort of twisted serial killer pseudo-trophy situation?
14:52 - "I don't think Vivian is the victim here. I think our father is." Yikes. This is not going to help Malcolm's mental stability. At all. He's been trying to fully accept that his father is a serial killing monster who was literally never capable of loving him for the past 23 years. BUT NOW our boy has taken the role of 'good son' (prodigal son is you will) and has returned to his 10 year old mentality "I love dad. Dad loves me." and 'dad' is in trouble. Malcolm is trying to save his serial killer father and the emotional and mental hoops he's jumping through are terrifying, complex, and hauntingly realistic. <3 It's gorgeous.
15:04 - "I'm not used to this type of confinement." I love this line because of how deeply it rings true. Martin isn't used to confinement. Sure, he's been chained to a wall for 23 years but he's been relatively happy about it. He's been able to manipulate Malcolm and the other inmates. He's been given TV time, phone time, consultations, books, music, free food, and a massive private cell (seriously that cell is as big as the bachelor's suite I rent for $900 CAD a month). The man has been living a life of luxury (given his crimes). His only 'punishment'? He's stuck inside his cell and he's not allowed to kill anymore. THIS is Martin truly suffering. I kind of feel bad for him (which I never thought I'd say).
15:20 - Damn. Michael Sheen is incredible. He's genuinely making me feel concerned and scared for Martin.
15:32 - Something tells me a man hurt Capshaw in some way throughout her life. This has to be deeper than the whole "I didn't fit into the 'boys club' of surgery". Her issues with men are aggressive and alarming. This woman is nuts. This woman is why I hesitate to call myself a feminist (I generally think we should drop the titles of feminist/misogynist/racist/homophobe... and just treat people with respect. I think the titles and groups just further divide people.)
15:50 - "You're finally free." Yep. Capshaw is a nutcase. She actually believes that she's committed a perfect crime.
16:09 - This place has virtually no furniture but I’m expected to believe someone is paying the phone bill?!?! Nah.
17:08 - That. Smile. This woman is a devil. Like, I think I hate her as much as I hate Umbridge. But unlike Umbridge, Capshaw is downright terrifying.
17:12 - Was anyone else kind of surprised that Martin called Jessica? I mean, I guess she was a safer choice than the cops but still...
17:20 - As creepy and this whole ‘Martin is a victim’ thing is - it’s kind of nice? Like - I just keep thinking “How does it feel Martin?!?! This is how you made your victims feel. Do you like it?” and then I realize I’m a terrible person.
17:55 - Ainsley’s in on this. I swear, she’s somehow involved with either Capshaw or Martin.
18:18 - Oh look. Martin is shackled to the bed. Just like Malcolm shackles himself to bed so he can sleep every night. .....I keep oscillating between being vindictive toward Martin and feeling bad for him. That’s what makes this show incredible. The ‘villain’ is human and 3 dimensional.
18:44 - Oh God. The psychopath is jealous. This woman is UNSTABLE. How has no one locked her up yet?!?
19:43 - She’s crying. She’s actually crying. Even the rewatch of this scene is painful. I just feel so uncomfortable (which was probably the intent) and I hate both characters. They’re both actively trying to manipulate each other and it’s so creepy. Damn.
20:15 - Holy. Shit. This woman is by far the scariest villain Prodigal Son has given us.
21:17 - ..............I have nothing to say. My brain has short circuited. I can’t get past how horrifying this scene is. She’s a maniac.
21:57 - No one will make eye contact with Malcolm. :( They all think he’s losing it but they’re not scared of him. They’re scared for him.
22:10 - “A trusted member of my team has a theory I run it down.” THANK YOU GIL. SUBTLY TELL MALCOLM THAT YOU TRUST HIM. That’s what he needed to hear. He was doubting that anyone cared. :(
22:45 - “Do you HeAr yourself?!?” Ouch. Gil’s right - Malcolm sounds nuts. Unfortunately, Malcolm’s also right (more or less). Look at how sad Malcolm is - he honestly looks like he’s on the verge of a panic attack. :( Malcolm thinks Gil doesn’t trust him anymore. Malcolm thinks Gil thinks he’s crazy. It’s heartbreaking. SOMEONE HUG THIS LITTLE CINNAMON ROLL.
22:54 - JT, buddy. Not the time. You’re making this worse. :( Malcolm is two breaths away from crying.
23:40 - “Dani, you up for this? Cause he sure isn’t.” Gil is losing it. Look at him. Gil is watching the boy he considers as his son unravel and Gil can’t do anything about it.
23:45 - “Either way, he’s going there. I’ll keep an eye on him.” I love Dani for this. Brightwell or not - the fact that she’s willing to chase smoke in an attempt to keep Malcolm from having a full mental breakdown makes her a hero.
23:48 - JT, hug Gil! He needs a hug!
24:16 - Martin is screaming while shackled to a bed.....where have I seen this before?
25:39 - “I did this for you because you needed it.”....”Dani, I respect you.” Excuse me while I go sob in the corner. Malcolm just uttered the words “I respect you.” and my heart exploded.
26:11 - “You don’t care. None of you care if my father lives or dies.” No, Malcolm, you’re wrong. They care. They all care so so much. Not about the life of the Martin Whitly though. They care about how Martin Whitly will continue to torment you if he’s caught alive. They care about how badly you’ll grieve if he ends up dying. They care about how this will affect YOU. because they love you.
26:22 - “You would be free.” SAY IT LOUDER DANI! He’d be in enormous pain for a while, but Malcolm would heal.
26:56 - “Let him go, Malcolm.” <3 <3 Malcolm is listening to Dani. He’s opening up about his fears. This is good (for Malcolm’s mental health). I am happy.
27:04 - WOW BABY! That kiss was......passionate? I mean, we all knew they were going to kiss (thanks previews) but I honestly didn’t expect a kiss this long or passionate? They’ve both been clearly denying their feelings for each other for a while though so I guess it makes sense?
27:20 - We all know Dani was going to talk about how they could make a relationship work for them and/or how she loves Malcolm but thinks he should focus on his mental health before they start dating. BUT MALCOLM? That boy thinks he just ruined his friendship with Dani and I’m heartbroken. Look at his sad little face. :(
28:31 - sooooo when exactly did Malcolm’s phone call drop? I feel like Ainsley had more access to the conversation that just what she shares with Dani in a couple of minutes.
29:08 - Look at this sad, scared little boy. He genuinely thinks that saving Martin will earn Martin’s love. I’m heartbroken.
29:22 - THIS. Malcolm is so desperate for Martin’s love that he essentially consented to being kidnapped, tortured, and potentially murdered. :( This is bad.
30:06 - Malcolm took unknown drugs from a crazy person. UGH. The stress of loving this unstable man-child is going to kill me. I’m so worried for him. ALSO WHO THE HELL CHEWS PILLS?!?! That’s disgusting.
30:24 - Dani thinks Malcolm is being a typical guy - terrified of relationships/talking about his feelings. She’s hurt. The Brightwell ship has encountered another storm.
30:35 - Anyone else get major flashbacks to 1x11 when Gil shows up to the townhouse to tell Jessica that Malcolm’s been kidnapped? You know, when he walks past all the reporters?!
30:50 - Ugh. :( Poor Jessica. That call from Capshaw gave her quite the emotional dilemma. As she said earlier, she loves her children more than she hates Martin. Soooo does she tell someone about the call, save Martin, and let Martin continue to torment her children? Or does she let Capshaw kill Martin, compromise her morals, let her children grieve for a while - but ultimately heal? It’s an impossible choice.
31:13 - “I know why you’re anxious Jess.” UGH. Get yourself a man you looks at you the way Gil look at Jessica. So much love. So much concern. If Gil wasn’t fictional and I wasn’t asexual (and 24) I would marry that man.
31:23 - “He has become convinced that his father is a victim in all of this.” Gil is so upset. He’s angry - at Martin for having this much power over Malcolm so many years later. He’s angry that Malcolm is still suffering so much because of his father. He’s upset because Martin is still hurting the people Gil loves 23 years after he was initially arrested.
31:33 - “There’s no good outcome here Jess.” Thank you. Gil is a man with awareness into Malcolm’s psyche. He knows this is going to hurt Malcolm no matter what happens. He’s scared and he’s bracing himself for impact. I love him. I want more people in the world who love people this deeply.
31:50 - “It’s okay to hope for that you know.” THANK YOU GIL. THANK YOU. Someone needed to tell Jessica that she’s not a monster for wanting the reason her children continue to suffer to disappear (even if tha means he dies). It’s not a malicious, evil thought toward Martin. It’s a hope for her children’s wellbeing.
32:04 - “And in my weaker moments, I want him dead too.” <3 I’m imagining Gil praying that Martin is killed by an inmate after he comforts a teenage Malcolm from a nightmare. I’m imagining Gil praying Riker’s finally kills Martin as he watched Malcolm spiral into Martin’s grasp again last year. I’m imagining Gil crying himself to sleep because he’s so damn tired of watching Jessica and Malcolm suffer because of Martin. I love him for it. <3
32:15 - “Maybe things could be different.” .....I’m sorry. Does this mean Gillica is off again?! The flirting and dancing from 2x9 meant nothing?!? It was a hoax?!? I’m furious.
32:35 - “It’s the actions that matter.” Damn. Gil is too good for the nonsense that is the Whitly family. Doesn’t he know that life isn’t always that simple?
32:46 - Annnnnd now Jessica will convince herself that she’s a bad person because she didn’t tell anyone about Capshaw’s call. She will also convince herself that she’s not good enought for Gil. AND I will cry myself to sleep.
32:55 - That hug <3 Sooooo Gillica is still on? I’m hella confused.
33:05 - There it is. Dani is still upset with Malcolm. The Brightwell ship is taking in water my dudes.
33:52 - Wow. He looks pretty in that makeshift hospital bed. Sleeves rolled up. Shirt half unbuttoned. Glazed, disoriented look about him as he wakes from a drugged sleep. <3 I’m in heaven.
34:30 - This is why Malcolm can never let Martin go. There are moments when Martin absolutely convinces Malcolm that he loves him.
34:50 - “Because he also happens to be my father.” THIS. IS. THE. MOST. REALISTIC. PORTRAYAL. OF. ABUSIVE. DADDY. ISSUES. Take from someone who lived through an abusive Dad. You hate him. You know he’s messed up. You don’t like or respect him. But a part of you will always love him. Even though you hate that part of yourself.
35:12 - “I want all of you.” .....I’m terrified. This woman is crazy. Crazier than the Surgeon. Is that possible?
36:05 - “You want him to love you. But he can’t.” Have you said that to yourself Malcolm? You know that logically but you don’t feel that in your heart. ....and the writers don’t know that because we’ve seen that Martin loves Malcolm? Sort of? Unless the writers are playing some sort of weird long con on us.
36:50 - This is whump content I signed up for. This crazy bitch just killed Malcolm. We saw the terror in his eyes. BUT HE LIVES. So. I’m. Here. For. It.
36:58 - Martin’s devotion to Malcolm is so so interesting to me. Martin is a psychopath - he’s not supposed to be capable of love. But he clearly loves Malcolm. How? Why? It makes no sense but I love it?
37:47 - Malcolm’s little wheeze when Vivian starts mitigating the embolism. <3 So cute.
37:53 - “I can do without the mansplaining.” I’m getting PTSD. There are too many real women who are this crazy about feminism and mansplaining (this is coming from a woman). Martin isn’t trying to ‘mansplain’ he’s scared and he’s trying to save his son. That’s not mansplaining. He’s not explaining something because he thinks Vivian doesn’t know it. He’s explaining something in a desperate attempt to remind her of the severity of the situation.
38:16 - HOW THE HELL did Ainsley and Dani know where Martin, Capshaw, and Malcolm were? Either 1) Ainsley is somehow working with Capshaw, or 2) they were able to trace Malcolm’s cell (assuming Capshaw didn’t trash it), or 3) Ainsley knew her mom was lying about that phone call and they had it traced?, or 4) this is a convenient plot thing.
38:34 - This bitch is devious and I hate her.
39:30 - Martin Whitly is the hero of the episode. What alternate reality are we living in?
41:15 - Malcolm struggling for breath. <3 The whumpers are being FED.
41:17 - “Run.” This is 23 years of guilt for turning his own father into the police surfacing.
41:31 - “Where’s my family?” I honestly don’t know how I feel about this line. It bothers me but I can’t figure out why.
41:43 - This ending sequence is a work of ART. Malcolm is in physical and emotional pain. Dani (without backup) trying to save Malcolm from Martin. The epic music. The shot of Dani seeing the blood-filled syringe next to the makeshift hospital bed+restraints. Martin Whitly. Driving. A. Boat. And. Laughing - completely elated - with Malcolm passed out (and looking adorable) in the aft seating. The fact that the ONLY house you can see on the shoreline is the house the just escaped from.
THIS EPISODE WAS EXCITING, STRESSFUL, AND WONDERFUL. I’m excited for the SEASON finale and I pray we get a season 3 from a network other than FOX.

Season 2 Shenanigans
AHEYYY sO I went on a giant Knight Rider binge the last few days, and I've FINALLY seen all of Season 2!!  Big thank you to @trust-doesnt-oxidize who watched with me and stayed up absurdly late because I wanted to see Garthe before I went to bed AIDBWJFNEM
I just wanted to post a quick reaction to all of the episodes, spoiler warning activated!
Goliath Parts 1 & 2
I LOVE MY DOOFY VILLAIN SON. K.I.T.T. is HILARIOUS, I love his dynamic with Goliath, as is evident by my handle oops- I hate how Season 2 starts with my son almost dying tho, almost had a heart attack tyvm! This is back before I knew anything about the direction of the rest of the series so I was legitimately in shock lmbo- Moustache Michael is a gem tho I love him. I SURE HOPE HE STAYS A DUMB VILLAIN WHO'S JUST REALLY SILLY TO WATCH. SURE HOPE THEY DON'T TAKE HIM TOO SERIOUSLY.
Brother's Keeper - Blind Spot
I- forgot that these episodes existed until I looked at the episode list for this, soooo...
I should really not be lazy and look up an episode summary and try to remember what I thought of these but the problem is that I am in fact going to be lazy because this post is already taking so long
Return to Cadiz
This episode is so,,, frustrating.  Not the plot or the format or anything like that, nono... I mean how they essentially introduced April.  Like, okay, I know that she has been here since the beginning of Season 2, but she hadn’t really said much up until now.  This was where we really got to know who she would be, and, uh... After this episode, I absolutely hated her.  Despised even.  She forces my son to go drive on the same ocean on the same beach where Karr DIED without any testing beforehand AND is chastising Michael in a flirtatious way.  The heCK is this woman?!  WHERE’S MY BONNIE???!!!  I was so mad at her you guys I.  But the thing is, I don’t hate April, not by a long shot.  In some ways, the rest of Season 2 does a better job giving her a character than all of Season 1 did for Bonnie!  I really enjoyed April and wish that both could have stayed.  BUT THIS EPISODE makes her SO HATEABLE and I just ugh.
also I tried to watch this a long time before I got to and after seeing the intro and not knowing the title of K.I.T.T. vs. K.A.R.R. at that point in time, I thought Karr was gonna come back based on all the panoramic shots of the underwater and I am so sad that he didn’t so oops this episode gets my wrath a bit
K.I.T.T. the Cat
0/10 there are no cats.  False advertising.
Seriously tho this episode was a pretty run of the mill episode.  The best part of the episode was Kitt, because it always is, but seriously that guy with the hedges was amazing- I GOT THE GAG BY THE THIRD TIME IT HAPPENED BUT THE FIRST TIME HE GOT STUCK IN THE TREE OH MY GOSH I WAS DY I N G- Also the fact that Kitt messed him up again trying to apologize is so sad yet funny ahosihdfiohasdf
Custom K.I.T.T.
APRIL GET THAT STUPID DECAL OFF HIM OH MY G O S H-
Somehow her 2-d design ideas looked almost worse than the actual thing and I thought the actual thing looked like a that default sticker decal that you get on a Hotwheels car.  I’msorryI’mnottryingtoroastanyartistsIjust I why there’s so much potential with giving Kitt decals :(
Seriously I want to use my drawing software to draw fire on Kitt at some point because it could be done so cool and that ain’t it chief.  I’m probably not going to be too great at it either since I don’t do backgrounds nearly enough and fire would be a background element for the most part but I could at least alter the colors ; m ;  OR LIGHTNING OH MY GOSH AAA LIGHTNING WOULD BE SO COO L ON HIM-  anyway it needed so much more red- and it was so asymmetrical too aHHHH-
I.  I’m fine it’s fine I’m fine it’s fi-
I don’t even know why Kitt needed a decal anyway, the other cars didn’t have to have decals to be considered custom, surely his dash alone could have done it-
ANYWAY
This ep was so WEIRD at times oh my gosh.  What was that series of insults the two ladies spat at each other?  Like the one just complimented her eyeshadow aggressively and the other one accused her of wearing “training bras” or something like whAT EXCU S E ME What is this episode?!  Kitt was so upset about the decal too :[
Soul Survivor
OH MY GOSH IT’S CUTE IT’S SO CUTE YOU GUYS-
I was recalling @knight-rider-fan-2000‘s theory about this episode (plz go check them out btw aaaa), and after watching it I totally agree.  Michael was especially kind in this episode, and he seems to be overall a more supportive mentor for Kitt this season, starting with Soul Survivor and being pretty consistent throughout.  I love their new dynamic so much- There’s definitely still episodes and moments where he’s closer to Season 1 Michael, but Season 2 Michael is a far superior human being in my opinion.
KITT’S SO ADORABLE LIL TINY CPU OH MY G O S H YOU’RE TELLING ME OUR SON IS ACTUALLY T H A T SMALL AAAAA
Michael really is so sweet in this oh my gosh, that whole arc where Kitt is his partner no matter what and that the car isn’t what made Kitt-- AW!!!!  ADORABLE!  Kitt being so unsure that he repeatedly asks Michael how it feels to see the Knight 2000 without him in it or fusses about his limited functionality as Michael patiently reassures him again and again that he’s wanted just the way he is, I just- Feelings.
One thing that hit me as funny though is when Michael finds Kitt’s CPU in the garage and the trash can is just like PULSATING and then he like yells at it like “tAlK tO mE kItT” and Kitt’s jus sitting there as a box of colored lights like “...”
I can just imagine a cut scene where Kitt’s like, “Oh and by the way Michael, if I could have said something I would have done so LONG before you started asking me to.  Believe it or not, I don’t like being in a trash can.”
“You Dingaling.”
Also Michael and his whole “I’m an honest man you can trust me listen I’ll give you a small TV just like this one” and then he proceeded to not do that.  Hmm.
Anyway, yeah, it doesn’t get any cuter than this.  The only thing that would have been better is if Adrianne didn’t exist.  Good thing she’s gone now~!
Ring of Fire
THIS IS SO TRIPPY THIS EPISODE IS SO TRIPPY
I would say that I hate Michael trying to get Kitt to subject himself to testing if he can withstand insane levels of heat.  I would say that if April did not then walk in and karma the crap out of him.  Gosh I loved it.  How he immediately was like whAT NOOO YOU WOULDN’T MAKE SOMEONE DO THAT and Kitt’s just like :/
dang hypocrite, Michael my feelings towards you are so complicated sometimes
anyway
So. Many. Dogs.  I usually love seeing Kitt interact with dogs but this started to get unsettling, I can’t blame him for not loving 6 different dogs all swarming him at once whAT- Have they nothing better to do than to jump on my son.  What the heck language were those banjo players singing in?  Was it a language or was it just gibberish keyboard spam that accidentally made it to the final script AOSHDIAOHSD
This whole swamp setting is really unique to this episode, and part of me really does commend the chance they took by switching up settings.  It’s almost always a small town on desert roads.  The way this all happened though was??? What?
I think the scriptwriters forgot that Return to Cadiz exists because Kitt got so much water damage AHSIDHAOISDH- I know April said the system was damaged but surely it would have minimized this a little bit.  Also did literally anything change by the end of this episode?  We didn’t see the guy get arrested, did we?  And the girl decided to stay living out in the swamp forest thing.  The only thing is that she, like, conquered her fear or something?  Even though she still isn’t acting in that direction?
This episode didn’t actually d o anything did it LOL
alsowhatevenwasthatexplosion
It’s not a bad episode though, just really bizarre.
Knightmares
YOU KNOW WHAT I SAID ABOUT IT NOT GETTING ANY CUTER?
I WAS WRONG.
THIS EPISODE this episode THIS EPISODE.  TOP TWO MATERIAL?  MORE LIKELY THAN YOU THINK.  TDR will always be my fav until the end of time I’m pretty sure because I don’t think another episode will get me to ugly sob like that (aLTHOUGH I AM MEGA HYPE HERE BECAUSE I WATCHED KvK AND IT WAS GOOD ALSO BUT WE’LL GET TO TH A T LATER) but in terms of sheer adorable buddies happiness this is the winner by all accounts.  I really like how they portray Michael Long, and I genuinely think the arc here has an impact on the rest of the season in terms of how Michael treats Kitt.
I love how Michael had told Kitt a long time ago how they were partners, like how he used to have a partner when he was a police officer, and how now when Long is so confused about everything everyone is trying to tell him, Kitt chooses this specific word to help introduce himself, and everything feels a bit more grounded for Long.  I love how Long immediately revolts against the way Devon and April try to tell him he’s wrong about who he is currently, which is, despite good intentions, the opposite of what he needs.  I love how Kitt then swoops in behind him and decides to treat Michael Long like a WHOLE NEW PERSON, one who Kitt tries to get to know.  I love how Long recognizes just how hard Kitt is trying and genuinely opens up to him.  I love how he never reverts to being mean or rude to Kitt after he gets in the car the second time, NOT EVEN ONE sarcastic comment.  How he never calls him a computer again after Kitt asks him not to, how he compliments his new partner left and right, how despite having no clue who Knight is he really wants to be that person for Kitt, because Kitt seems sincere and pretty great.  I adore that bit where Kitt gently, lovingly lists traits good and bad about Knight and how Long can finally connect to this other version of himself.
“One more thing about Michael Knight.”
“What’s that?”
“I was extremely fond of him”
I love how Long starts saying “Good work, Kitt” after they complete parts of their mission and how Knight does not stop this for the rest of the season, even after he regains his memory.  I love so much about this and could frankly talk about it even more than this but this is a brief summary so.  So yeah, we’re moving on ;W;
Silent Knight
It’s funny so.  I didn’t realize that Knight Rider had done any Christmas specials.  I knew about the Halloween specials, but I didn’t realize the Christmas special existed.  And so I was laughing at how funnee I was while I was like “SILENT KNIGHT HOLY KNIGHT ALL IS COME-” and then that’s exactly what the pun was meant to be.  they done bamboozled me.
ANYWAY THIS MIGHT BE THE STRANGEST CHRISTMAS SPECIAL TO EVER EXIST EVER.
They kept mentioning the Christmas banquet thing to make it mildly related to the season but then it wasn’t, it really wasn’t, it all revolved around clowns.  There was.  There was a Santa I guess.  Albeit a bank robber Santa--
And the kid is juuust obnoxious at first, I love how Kitt absolutely hates him immediately for some reason even though Kitt usually doesn’t hate people unless they do something really bad, but it feels so deserved because the kid is a jeeerk.  Maybe it’s because the kid accused him of endangering human life and that Hurt?
Kid: Just let me drive and I’ll throw away this dumb clock thing
Michael: No
Kitt: YES
Michael: W H A T ?!
Kitt: YES
Michael: ugh whatever
I was kind of expecting Kitt to pull some sort of shenanigans while the kid was driving as payback for whatever he absolutely despised him for, but Kitt was actually just really sweet and gave him a bit of freedom until he started endangering himself and then helped him get back into control.  Very wholesome.
AND the end was CUTE though, like the boy who had previously been a jerk going over and patting Kitt and being just sincerely nice to him ;w; wholesome
A Knight in Shining Armor
Gosh I always forget what this episode is about because the title is so loosely related LOL
The dynamic with Michael and the girl of the week was actually really cute and chemistry was not entirely nonexistant, so that’s a nice change from some of these that come out of nowhere.  Her arc was actually pretty sweet, how she resented technology because she wanted to be loved and cared about, how she thought computers were incapable of doing that until she talked to Kitt...
And the cave was prebby.
But why couldn’t she understand that her DAD was in PRISON.
“Why didn’t he ever come to see me?” “Because he was in Jail.” “oh.  But why didn’t he call???”
Diamonds Aren't a Girl's Best Friend
SOMEONE
AHAHA
SOMEONE CALLED MICHAEL
AHAHA
BERNIE CALLED HIM A DINGALING. Speaking of Bernie, all I could think this whole episode was

LONG-LEGGED PUNK-
Seriously idk what this season’s love affair with the baddies picking on Michael but I love it.
Honestly the twist of this episode was really interesting, I still don’t fully get how the baddies’ plan comes together though.  So the song plays on the radio and the police go to investigate the drag racers and the crims are IMMEDIATELY ready?  okay then.
Radio announcer Kitt tho.  That is blessed.
I want Radio Announcer Kitt.  Then again, I just want more Kitt in general so.
Race for Life
INHALE
Y’ALL ARE REAAALLY TRYING TO MAKE ME DETHRONE KNIGHTMARES AS THE CUTEST, AREN’T YOU?
Well ha, joke’s on you episode, you’re getting docked points for only giving Kitt and Becky two interactions.  And for making the donor obnoxious for most of the episode (although that end scene was pretty adorable).  So, okay, second cutest.
THE WAY KITT WAVED I-
HE IS SO CUTE
he is so cute.
Devon was really sweet this episode, not gonna lie.  I’m not sure if I’ve said it on this blog before, but I had strong dislike for Devon after Season 1.  I can explain that later if anyone wants, I’d be perfectly willing to compare the two seasons, but Season 2 Devon is pretty alright.  He doesn’t have much of a presence, but when he does, he’s kind.  I’m assuming he let Becky win at checkers, in which case uh, aW?!  Devon that’s cute.
KITT TRYING TO TEACH THE TEN YEAR OLD CHESS AHSIODHOAISD I LOVE YOU BUDDY
Also, I feel like this is the episode April really became her own character, separate from Cadiz.  She’d kind of just been a slightly perkier Bonnie, but now we get to see her family, her concerns... And April’s a pretty good character.
OH AND THE WHOLE “Kitt is family” ARC IS THE SWEETEST THING ASHDHAOSDohIAD
“Julio, meet Kitt.  He’s part of the family”
“Thank you, Michael.”
MY.  HEART.
Speed Demons
Okay so.  This is another one of those episodes where very little seemed to change by the end of the episode.  The guy who was actually in danger quit motorcycling anyway soooo...  The episode plot itself isn’t what I feel like talking about.
What was WITH that one announcer guy?  Were we meant to like him or not???  First he tries to Kick the Kitt and Kitt’s like :/ whatever
and then he comes back and they start to have like, a deep conversation, and he lovingly pats the hood before walking away.  And we’re like AWWW OKAY THIS GUY IS NOT TO BAD
AND THEN he asks Kitt to talk for someone and Kitt’s like “...” and the guy riots.  Why did Kitt not talk for him and why did the guy go so absolutely bonkers when he didn’t?  Were the cameras rolling and I just didn’t realize?  And then we kind of hate the guy again because he once again absolutely went ballistic at Kitt.  “That’s Showbiz.”
But then the dynamic with that coworker keeps coming up, and yeah, I guess she does seem a bit annoying.  But she also seems like a potential lady of the week and a potential protagonist.  So when she gets splashed with mud or whatever that was and the guys all like :D
What are we meant to be feeling?
Are we meant to feel bad for her or happy for him?
Because I just felt confused.
Goliath Returns 1 & 2
GOSH DARNIT ADRIANNE IS BACK
ALSO I-I-I I TAKE BACK EVERYTHING I SAID ABOUT YOU BEING A DOOFY AND STUPID VILLAIN JUST P L E A S E STOP ; M ;
SERIOUSLY WHEN DID GARTHE TURN FULL PSYCHOPATH-
THE FEELING I GOT REMINDED ME OF WATCHING THE SHERLOCK FINALE.  S H E R L O C K  F I N A L E.
Sigh, I should have known he’d gone off the deep end when he walked into a hot tub with jeans on.
I will forever be mad at some versions coughincludingtheoneIwaswatchingoncough for cutting out the fact that Kitt’s microchip was almost ENTIRELY WIPED/OVERWRITTEN AND PUT INTO GOLIATH.  Because uh, the way the show cut it up for TV, it seems like Kitt’s really in no danger other than being annoyed.  But no, literally everyone almost dies.  Fun times!
Seriously why did this convoluted garbage get a two-parter but Kitt vs. Karr didn’t?
This episode makes me sad.  Not just because Garthe tried, and almost succeeded, to take away everything we love in this show.  Not just because this episode strayed far enough from the typical formula for this to seem like some dystopian nightmare version of Knight Rider. Not just because freaking Adrianne is back.
I mean because I loved Garthe’s character, and this totally changed it.  I like that they went into Garthe’s trauma a bit more with this one, but unlike some villains in the Knight Rider canon (okay let’s not play games, UNLIKE KARR-), what he does is so dastardly, SO insaNE, that there is no way to argue that he might be justified.  No.  No.  Garthe, Adrianne, and Goliath are gone now, and that’s how it had to be.
OH ALSO GO O F F APRIL YES QUEEN I LOVE YOU- I honestly felt so bad for her when she turned around and broke down right after standing up to him, like dang, that hurts.  And Devon was sweet in this episode too ;w;
Okay but were they planning on making another episode of this?  Because that end scene was such an obvious teaser it’s not even funny.
“I hope we don’t run into those very much drowned people out in the streets again, Michael.  And I especially hope that they do not construct another semitrailer with the exact same scale and name as the previous one that was driven into the ocean.”
“Yes, I agree Kitt, this is also an anxiety that I possess despite the fact that they are very much definitely Deceased.  I sure hope that plot convenience does not interfere in the future.”
THANK GOODNESS THAT ADRIANNE IS GONE
wait what?  her actress is in another episode as another character who’s just as awful? wHYYYYYY
A Good Knight's Work
THAT BEAR NEEDS TO DIE. I am so glad Michael ejected the dumb thing at the end, Kitt deserved it. Especially after Michael essentially told him to temporarily kill himself. Michael's a cyberbully now ig. The arc with Kitt and the car salesman was cute. Apparently deactivation is considered programming now? Michael my mans you could have given Kitt any warning at all (I kind of take this back after one of the Season 3 episodes I’ve watched uHHHH this was a lot of warning compared to how Michael rolls in S3 what the heck is wrong with him). Cute episode overall tho I guess. ALSO I JUST NOW REALIZED "A GOOD KNIGHT'S WORK" IS A PUN BECAUSE KITT IS WILTON KNIGHT'S WORK AND I'M MAD AT MYSELF FOR NOT NOTICING IT SOONER-
Mouth of the Snake and that other garbage one that's title makes no sense
David might as well be a plank of wood. A plank of wood that yeets himself ten feet into the air whenever possible, but I digress. Does this count as superpowers? I just love how he offended Kitt 0.1 seconds after meeting him and then Michael proceeded to tell Kitt off for reacting. Love that soooo much. It's also hilarious to me how most of this episode has a similar structure to most Knight Rider episodes and then they randomly start reacreating the Most Dangerous Game--
Let it Be Me
Why isn't this the season finale?! I mean, I'm glad it's not, but why? This is way worse than White Bird like why- I feel like the Stevie episodes are kind of a controversy in this fandom? I loved the first one. This one's just, blegh it's okay. She and Michael still have pretty great chemistry WHEN THEY ARE SPEAKING IN REGULAR SPEECH. I do not like Stevie singing the same song with Michael 100 times. The duet at the end is kind of cute though, sue me I like corny things.
Stevie: I’m so sorry I shouldn’t have been with this one guy but ;m;
Michael: has been with approximately 100 women by now
Also Michael: How could you ;m;
Big Iron
This episode is kinda wild. Why does the guy manage to have a full out breakup with Lucy in less than one minute? Why is Michael a marriage counselor now? Why couldn't Kitt take the oxygen out of the cabin when Michael was definitely going to die if he didn't?  Since when does Turbo Boost use a ton of oxygen anyway?  Why does this man just immediately make up with his wife after finding out that she helped him? And most of all, WHY DIDN'T THAT BARTENDER LADY ACT THE LEAST BIT CONCERNED WHEN THEY ABSOLUTELY TORE UP THE PLACE??? Lmbo she's just like "Stop it guys :/"
It’s so bizarre that this is the season finale ahsdoifhasodf but go off I guess NBC

A/N: I literally have no idea where this came from but it did and now here it is :))

"I can't believe Steve had the audacity to be born on the 4th of July!" Chloe wouldn't believe it even though she learned that piece of information a very long time ago. It was simply too ironic. She shifted her body on the ground but there was no possible way to be comfortable in the training room's dirty ground. She was just too tired to stand up. "The nerve of that guy, honestly." She smirked when she heard the heavy footsteps coming towards her.
"Please don't bad-talk my best friend." Soon enough, Bucky was towering over her with a staff in hand. "And get off the ground, will you?"
Chloe propped her upper body up with her elbows. "Make me."
Bucky pointed the staff at her, his warning look doing nothing for her. So, naturally, he poked her left shoulder until she lost balance in her left elbow and she fell flat on her back. Now he was the one smirking.
"That's not funny!" Chloe huffed and pulled herself up from the ground.
"Got you up, didn't it?"
"I really hate you." Chloe reached out for the staff but he pulled it behind his back. "And I meant what I said about Steve. Like, is he serious?"
Bucky very seriously nodded his head. "I think it's pretty serious, yeah."
Chloe shook her head at him. "You are really something, you know? But that's an argument for later. For now..." she sauntered up to him with a innocent smile on her face. "The party — your thoughts?"
"My thoughts about a party that Stark's organizing?" Bucky raised an eyebrow at her. "You're kidding me, right?"
Chloe rolled her eyes at him. Her fingers started dancing their way up Bucky's arms until they came to rest on his shoulders. "I meant...what do you think about going to this party together?" She knew it was a testy question that could potentially lead to some disagreements, but she had to ask.
The question quickly unsettled Bucky. "Chlo..." He pulled away from her but made it seem like he was simply putting the staff back in its place. "We agreed on how this would work best for now."
"Yeah, I know, but I'm also not suggesting a full-on public date." Chloe folded her arms over her chest. "I still owe you dinner, after all." Bucky looking back at her with a smirk did make her relax a bit. He wasn't upset. "Look," she brought her arms to her sides as she walked towards him, "I know that this—" she gestured between them, "—is fairly new and you don't want to bring a lot of attention to yourself so if that's it then...okay. I just had to ask."
With a sigh, Bucky turned around. "Hey, it's my problem, not yours. Everything is always about me and, yeah, it's as bad as it sounds. I'm sorry."
Chloe shook her head. "I don't need an apology. I get it, trust me. Your health comes first," she brought a hand up to his cheek. "But I will see you at the party, right? Tony's making it—enforcing it, really—a 1940s party."
"Of course," Bucky rolled his eyes.
"He says we all have to come dressed for the part. I'm excited." And it showed on Chloe's face too. Her eyes dazzled once she started going on about the opportunities to get dressed up for the occasion.
Bucky let her go on until her face would turn purple from how fast she was rambling. Nobody would take the fondness from his eyes. He would love to take her to that party as his girl. He had no doubt that she would look like an absolute angel in whatever she decided to wear.

When Tony announced his proposition to host the surprise birthday party, everyone immediately presumed it would be something over the top. Seren specifically warned him not to even try doing something along those lines. Steve wouldn't want it and much less desire such attention.
The party was within the compound's ground and even then Tony still managed to go above and beyond. For one, the damn party wasn't even inside, it was out on the grass. And truth be told, things did look very nice. Twinkling string light bulbs hung from one wooden pole to the next, adorning the corners of the party. Several tables were set up but what really got one's eyes was the clear dance floor in the middle. An old fashioned band was playing softly with the tune that only the 40s could produce. Everyone was dressed as if they were actually in the 40s.
"It looks nice," Chloe hummed with the sight she and Seren had before them.
"Yeah, Tony outdid himself," Seren nodded. "And he kept it subtle. I will give him his credit. I just hope we got the clothes right..."
Chloe did a double take at her own dress. "I mean..."
"I can confirm that they are indeed," Bucky came around to greet them but more specifically to get closer to Chloe to see what she had chosen to wear tonight. He wasn't disappointed in the least.
She wore an off the shoulder, sky-blue satin dress with a v-neckline. She chose no necklace and inadvertently (he presumed) showed off an exquisite view of her neck. Her long tresses of curls had somehow been tucked into shoulder-length do that he often used to see on the girls back then. A soft pink shade stained her plump lips and cheeks. She looked like an absolute doll.
"Really?" Chloe was unusually doubtful of her appearance. "Seren and I...we're not the most normal of girls..."
"You're telling me," they heard Seren say, "You have an alien tech piece in your head and I'm actually an alien."
Bucky couldn't help but laugh. "Well, nobody can tell a thing. But listen, the, uh, birthday boy was asking for you."
"Really?"
Chloe barely held in her snort at how obvious Seren was being. If Bucky saw it too — unless he was suddenly blind — he didn't make it clear.
"He's inside," he nodded to the compound behind. "Must have missed him but I'm sure he's waiting for you."
"Uuh...I guess I should go find him..." Seren started backtracking. Her hands came to press against her dark emerald dress. "Chloe, do I look okay?"
"Yes," Chloe assured her. "Green is your color, now go!" With a beam, Seren hurried off. "She's hopeless," Chloe said afterwards with a heavy sigh. "One of the smartest woman I know and it vanishes all for a guy."
"Well..." Bucky swayed his head, the smirk coming to his lips like an automatic instinct.
Chloe whacked him on the chest. "Don't even try it with me. If I remember correctly, you were pining for me."
Bucky had two options and the first one involved wasting time bickering over something that was clearly true. Being in public, especially at a party with the rest of the team, meant their time together was extremely limited. They had to be very careful how they acted in front of others, they had to watch their words too and how loud they were about it.
"You look beautiful, doll." He wasn't going to waste any second.
Hearing his words had Chloe's faint pink cheeks turning brighter. "I got the appearance right, then?" She gently patted a tucked curl near her right ear. She didn't want to say it so bluntly that she tried her best to look like one of the girls Bucky would see in his time. Maybe he would think it was stupid or something.
"Absolutely," Bucky nodded. "If you'd been in the era, you would've had all the boys after you."
Chloe chuckled. "Really?"
"Look at you — who wouldn't want a dame like you?"
"I am so close to swooning right now," Chloe laughed out of sheer embarrassment. She brought a hand up to her mouth in hopes of keeping her laugh quieter. Her other hand came to rest on Bucky's arm, an act that she wouldn't consider dangerous. "Is this how you would get girls in the past? Because if so..." her face scrunched as the struggle to say the truth got to her, "...well done," she said through gritted teeth.
It was Bucky's turn to laugh. "I accept all congratulations."
"You jerk!" she whacked him on the arm. "Egotistical jerk!"
"Hey honey, I'm just taking the compliments you're sending my way."
Chloe shook her head at him. Of course he would say something like that, and of course she wouldn't mind it. "You look handsome tonight too." Because like her, he'd gone back through time with an old dark blue suit. Chloe truly appreciated how nicely it fit that she had to remind herself to not stare so much. "God, this party is going to kill me. Thanks a lot, Steve."
Bucky smiled. "I don't think this is his fault."
"Mhm," Chloe folded her arms over her chest. "So, when's your birthday?"
"What?"
"Your birthday, when is it?"
"Why the sudden interest?"
"Because I want to know when I have to start planning your surprise party."
"Ah, I don't think so," Bucky shook his head. Unfortunately, he was long past celebrating his birthday now. He was genuinely happy that Steve could still celebrate his. "I'm not very much into it anymore."
"Not even for me?" Chloe pouted. "I promise I'd make it a fun party."
"Oh, I know that you would."
"C'mon, give me a clue or something."
"There's no point, Chloe. Don't waste the night trying to find the date."
Chloe huffed, clearly put out that he really wasn't going to tell her anything. She looked past him towards the dance floor. There were a few people dancing already, amongst them Sam — of course — and Wanda who had the unfortunate luck of being his partner. Chloe almost laughed. Her eyes then flickered back to Bucky.
"Ask me to dance," she said quietly.
Bucky looked over his shoulder to the dance floor. "Oh Chlo..."
"Don't tell me 'no' please," she touched his flesh arm and gave it a light squeeze.
"You know I don't want to say 'no'..." Bucky hated the disappointment that crossed her angelic features, "But it'd be too much display."
"C'mon it's just dancing. Look at Sam and Wanda over there," Chloe discreetly nodded at the pair who were having the time of their lives trying to figure out how to dance to the different tune. "No one would think twice when they saw us. I don't know how to dance your music but I sure would love to learn it from you."
Bucky smiled at her. He'd love to dance with her just like he used to in the old days. Holding her and swinging her to the music. "Wouldn't that be nice?"
Chloe sighed. She didn't want to argue, not when she knew that he was just being cautious. "Okay," she patted his arm. "I'll just...be around then." Bucky nodded. It was the best thing to do for them. She smiled briefly at him then walked off.

Tony Stark knew how to throw one party. Even though the rhythm of it was, at times, a bit too fast for Steve, he did make it clear that Tony had done a good job.
"I just can't dance like that," he told Bucky but it wasn't that big of a secret.
"Well..."
"Be quiet! I don't need the commentary; a simple nod will do." Steve exhaled deeply and gazed out to the dance floor. He had tried his hand at the swinging steps but it seemed like he needed some more practice.
"Ah, you'll be fine if just go out there again. I'm sure Dimples wouldn't mind another round," Bucky was barely able to hold his smirk in. "It's a good thing she's got some extra alien strength because stepped-on-toes from you is a whole other world of pain."
"Ha, ha," Steve rolled his eyes but Bucky could see the flush in his best friend's face. He had not planned on making a fool out of himself in front of Seren but, as usual, things didn't go his way.
"You'll be fine," Bucky clapped his shoulder. "I've only been here a few months and even I know what's going on. Just go, apologize, and then ask her to dance again. Something tells me she'll say 'yes' again."
"Just like that?"
"Just like that."
"What about you?"
"What about me?"
Steve turned to Bucky, his expression deadpanning. "I know there's something going on between you and Chloe."
Because he was a master at a straight face, anyone else would think they'd just made the wrong assumption. "Come off it, punk. Me and Winters?"
"Yeah, you and Winters," Steve mimicked his tone. "I'm not an idiot. First, you stop the sessions and you're even worse with the attitude. Then, you start the sessions again and you actually start smiling again. Seriously, I'm not an idiot."
"I don't know what you're talking about."
Steve studied his best friend's face but it seemed like something on the dance floor had caught his attention. "So, you're okay with the fact Stark is now dancing with Chloe?"
Straight-face begone. Bucky knew there was no way in hell Stark would ever try something with Chloe but he wasn't going to stand there and say he loved watching Chloe giggle as Stark twirled her around. She'd definitely found a dancing partner and it wasn't him.
"Ah, it's a good thing you're not involved with her because that—" Steve pointed a finger at Chloe and Tony, "—would definitely piss me off."
"Go find Dimples or something," Bucky muttered and moved on himself. He didn't want to be angry, he didn't want to be upset at all but it was a mighty hard thing to do when Chloe looked like she was having the time of her life. If he'd said 'yes' to her earlier, that would've been him making her giggle. He would've had the privilege of dancing with her. It was his unfortunate luck that Chloe didn't even realize he was watching them.
She was just having fun dancing.
"Is this how you dance with Pepper?" she couldn't stop laughing, even more so when Tony yanked her up to him.
"No, she would've smacked me for trying to spin her in the first place," he answered calmly.
"You're terrible!"
"But a good dancer." Tony had the audacity to smirk at her. "Admit it."
"You want to know something? This song isn't even from the 40s," she smiled sarcastically. "Last time I heard, Fernando came from the 70s. You're about 30 years off."
"I like the song." And just for show, Tony had dipped her.
Chloe laughed loudly again. "Show off."
"Definitely." Tony pulled her back up. "But also a good dancer."
"Yeah, I guess so." Chloe wouldn't say that as much of a good dance he was, she would still rather dance with someone else...someone who was wan't all flesh.
~ 0 ~
As the night progressed, the party went on as planned. There were drinks served and the traditional birthday cake along with gifts here and there. The night was soon winding down but the music wasn't. Chloe, however, wasn't part of the dancing anymore. She'd moved away after dances with several people.
She'd come into the kitchen for a genuine break on her phone. She was all comfortable when someone suddenly grabbed her from behind.
Bucky let out a howl of laughter when she yelled with true fear. She whirled around with the angriest of faces. "Son of a bitch, it's you!"
"Ooh, my girl's got a colorful vocabulary," he reached out for her arm only for her to smack him twice on the chest.
"That wasn't funny!" She breathed heavily until something struck her. "Did you say...am I...?" She tucked a curl that was beginning to loosen up on the bottom of her hair. "Am I your girl?"
Bucky straightened at the question. He didn't even realize he said that so casually, so...automatically. He supposed he'd believed that was true a while ago. And looking at Chloe's face, he couldn't bear to take it back, not even to calm the nerves that had risen in the last few seconds.
"Yeah, if that's okay with you," the words nervously tumbled from his mouth.
Chloe seemed surprised but thoroughly enlightened. "Y-yeah, I just didn't think you thought of me like that."
"What—"
"You've just always been deflective about...us, which I totally understand!" Chloe ended up exclaiming. "This thing's not very...normal." She swallowed hard. "I never want to place labels where they don't belong."
"You have to understand that if I'm deflective it's not because of you..."
"Oh, I know, it's not that big of a mystery to know that you still think with that mentality." Again, I'm not accusing you, I'm just...treading lightly."
"Being cautious," Bucky understood that perfectly but he hated that Chloe had to force herself to act that way because of him. "You know that you don't have to go through any of this."
Chloe sighed. "Bucky—"
"You really don't. Of all the things wrong with me, being blind isn't one of them. I see heads turning your way all the time."
"Oh c'mon—"
"I'm serious!" Bucky walked her up against the kitchen isle. His hands came to rest on her waist, keeping a tight grip around them so Chloe wouldn't try to get out of the situation (literally). "You know back in my day, there was always one girl that all the guys drooled over..."
"Oh, and let me guess, you got her?" Chloe smirked even when he gave an understandable sway of his head. She laughed. "Of course!"
"I'm not making up excuses but she was really pretty..."
"And you were the alpha male," Chloe rolled her eyes upon the smirk that crossed Bucky's lips. "Seriously..."
"She was the alpha woman," he shrugged. "And in this situation, in this era, you are the alpha woman."
"Now we're getting somewhere I like," Chloe smirked just as proudly as Bucky had seconds ago.
He chuckled. "Of course you would, but the point is that you're the alpha woman which means all eyes are always set on you. Me, however, I'm nothing like that anymore. I have an endless baggage that you have no business being dragged into. You don't need to be here, Chlo. You can be out there—" He pointed behind him in the party's direction, "—having fun."
"I did have fun," Chloe said with a casual shrug of her shoulders. "But I'd have more fun if you were out there with me. I don't care about this alpha nonsense. That's so last century. You're in my time now, sweetheart." She dragged her hands from his chest to his neck. "And in my time most girls don't date a guy because they need to, they date because they want to. Because they like the feeling of doing things like this..." She pressed a feather touch kiss over his lips. "Among other things." Her body was pressed against when she went in for a rougher kiss. "So it's about time you stop thinking that I'm here because I need to be. You make me feel good. I want to make you feel good too."
"I do," Bucky gripped her arms, for one moment deliberating whether or not to step away from her. "Really good sometimes, actually."
Chloe did not hesitate to smirk at him so openly. "Only 'sometimes'?"
He had to pick the girl with the mouth, didn't he? He sighed. "Chloe..."
She giggled. "I'm kidding...for the most part. C'mon Bucky, let's not do this. In all these words we've said, I'd like to stick to the parts where you said I was your girl and where I said that you make me feel good. Are those not the best parts?" She came to lean against his chest, leaving her arms draped over his shoulders. It was unclear if her expression had softened purposely or not. Either way, Bucky knew he was a goner.
"Yeah," he ultimately agreed with her. "I guess I just have to try harder to be someone you deserve."
"I think you're doing a fantastic job," she smiled up at him. "You've been working hard to recuperate but it's going to be a long process so...maybe taking one night off wouldn't hurt you." There went that soft look again. Maybe it was done on purpose.
Either way, once again, Bucky lost. He took her chin with his fingers and placed a light kiss on her lips. He loved her smile afterwards. She should always be smiling. "How about we dance?"
She raised an eyebrow at him. "Seriously?"
Bucky nodded. "I think it's about time I take my girl out for a dance."
Chloe barely contained her excitement and the only reason she eventually did was because she had a brand new idea. "I'd love to...but not out there."
"What? But I thought that's what you wanted—"
"Are you kidding me? My reputation is ruined after that dance with Tony! I'm going to have one very important conversation with Pepper tomorrow and it'll involve my deepest condolences for her feet!"
Bucky rolled his eyes at her. "You didn't look like the dancing was bad."
"Yeah alright, but I still don't want to dance out there."
"Then where...?"
Chloe grabbed her phone on the isle then took his hand. "My room."
"What—" She had already tried pulling him but, of course, that wasn't possible until he would give in. "Chloe, I don't get it. You were so upset earlier that I didn't want to dance out there and now you don't want to dance outside?"
Chloe shrugged. "I change my mind a lot. I want you all to myself. Got a problem with that?"
"...no, I absolutely do not." It was at that moment that Bucky finally let her pull him away. "Hopefully nobody notices that we're gone."
Chloe snorted. She brought him into her room and walked up to her dresser. "Oh please, they're all too drunk."
"Steve can't get drunk."
"Yeah, but he's not exactly focusing on us tonight. Not while Seren's in that dress — you're welcome, by the way!"
Bucky raised an eyebrow at her. "You did that for us?"
Chloe was all too smug about it. "For her, of course, but making sure she looked good meant that Steve wouldn't pay any attention to the whereabouts of his best friend tonight."
Bucky stared at her long and hard while she went through her phone. "That is...sneaky...and attractive."
"Of course I am." She finally found what she was looking for on her phone and planted it on her dresser. "And so we'll have all the time in the world for dancing."
"I like the sound of that but I'm not sure there's enough space for a proper spin..."
Chloe chuckled. "It's alright, I'm kind of done with 40s music for now, but I'm still going to hold you for that dance later on. I'd rather show you some of my favorite songs..."
"And what would those be?"
Chloe pressed her finger to her phone and had 'Everybody Wants to Rule the World' playing. "1985," she swayed on her own for a few moments. "Everybody wants to Rule the World. Iconic."
"Never heard of it," Bucky's 'joke' was met with a deadpanning look that brought his laugh.
"You must have missed it while you were, uh, brainwashed." She held her hands out for him to take.
"Must have..." He grabbed her hands but slowly let his hands wander to her waist while Chloe's draped over his shoulders. "Different," he said after a moment of just swaying. "Everything's so different, even simple things like these."
Chloe nodded. "I'm sorry, but I promise to show you the best songs of the decades. And, if it makes you feel better, I wasn't even born when this song came out. I heard it way afterwards."
Bucky chuckled. "Yeah, it does make me feel better. The lyrics, though...they're a bit..."
"Serious? Yeah," Chloe shrugged. "It's all about power, what people desire..." She looped her arms around his neck. "What do you desire?"
For the first couple of minutes, Bucky said nothing. He stared at her with an unreadable expression. Ever since he had a more clear mind, he really didn't know what he wanted besides getting rid of everything Hydra packed into his head. It wasn't all that simple anymore. He wanted more. It wasn't a clear list of what he wanted but he knew — he was absolutely sure — that it would heavily involve Chloe.
The music sounded like it was louder with the silence that fell over them but Chloe didn't press for an answer. She quite liked the moment of simple dancing. While others often claimed she loved attention — which wasn't a complete lie — this wasn't a different type of attention she was receiving. It didn't make her feel like she was on display. Her insides felt like they would turn into putty if Bucky didn't stop any second now. Was this what an actual dance felt like? Your partner was supposed to look straight through you? Through your firkin soul?
"Whatever I desire, it'll include you," Bucky finally answered her. An immediate smile crossed Chloe's lips. He leaned closer and left a soft kiss on her forehead. His lips lingered over her skin when he asked, "What about you?"
"Mm, I'm not sure." But the way she smiled indicated the opposite.
"There's gotta be something. What is it?"
"Well, maybe there is something."
"What is it?"
"I...want to know when your birthday is."
Bucky blamed himself for not seeing that one coming. Chloe giggled when he spun her around so that her back was against his chest. "Why so much interest in that?" he murmured against her ear. "Can't you go asking the computers or something?"
Chloe felt his arms gripping her waist. "Yeah, but I want to hear it from you. C'mon, are you afraid of the party I'd throw you? Because if it's that, rest assured that I would tailor it to your likes."
"I just don't see the importance of it when I'm like 90 years old."
"Aw, you're cute..." Chloe reached up to pat his cheek, "You think you're only ninety years old."
"I'm leaving it at that number!"
"So you have vanity issues. Not surprising since you used to be an alpha male."
"Chloe..."
Chloe started humming to the song and focusing more on swaying. For a minute, Bucky let it be. He couldn't get enough of their moment. He pressed a kiss to her shoulder.
Chloe tilted her head back and lazily smiled up at him. "Much better than dancing outside."
Just as she said that, the song ended but they continued to dance as if it hadn't. They didn't need the tunes.
"You were right," Bucky agreed. Simply unable to help himself, he kissed along her shoulder.
Chloe loved the sensation of his lips pressing against her skin. "I'm always right," she hummed. "Learn that. It'll save you a lot of arguments in the long run."
Bucky laughed. "Whatever you say, doll."
"And you should start..." Chloe wiggled her way from his arms to turn around, "...by telling me your birthday."
"You're not going to let this go, are you?"
"Nope!"
"Let's just play another song, yeah? Show me what other music I've missed out on." Chloe smirked. Bucky got the faint feeling that she was up to something. "I have been trained to be a deadly assassin but that face—" he pointed at Chloe, "—actually scares me."
"I'm honored." Chloe stepped back and started undoing her tucked curls. "I'm getting that birthday date out of you."
Bucky was outright bemused. "Oh, really?"
"Yeah, but enough of this 40s stuff. I look good but it's not my thing. I'm doing this my way now." Chloe shook her head and released her long curls down her back. "21st century me."
"And what does that entail, exactly?" Bucky struggled not to laugh as she came up to him.
She hummed and tapped her fingers up his chest. "I'm rather convincing. Ask around."
"Oh, I know you are," Bucky nodded. "What do you have in mind?"
Chloe smirked at him. "Sit down." She backtracked him a couple steps towards the foot of her bed.
Bucky had to laugh. She was so demanding and he loved it. "But—"
"Sit. Down. Sergeant," the sharp words flew from Chloe's mouth.
He probably shouldn't be getting that thrill but he was against ending it, so...he sat down. His eyes never left hers. "Now what?"
Chloe seemed to consider her options. Truth was, she was admiring him. She often did that while he wasn't looking. "I don't know, I'll come up with something." She pressed the sides of her dress down then promptly sat on his lap. "I'm sure I'll come up with a good idea."
"Scary," Bucky bopped her nose.
Chloe put a hand over his cheek and leaned close. "Is it August?"
"No."
Chloe's lips were close enough to brush over Bucky's when she guessed again. "September?"
"Not even close," Bucky whispered to her. He barely held his smirk in at her clearly disgruntled face.
"October?"
"Nu-uh."
"I'm going to figure it out," Chloe swore and this time Bucky chuckled. "I will."
"Yes you will, doll. You've got a few more months to go through." He kissed her lower lip. "My detective."
"You jerk," Chloe narrowed her eyes at him.
Bucky nuzzled his nose against her cheek. "I don't hear another month being asked about?"
Chloe felt his breath tickle her jaw. She let her eyes fall shut as his lips ghosted over her skin. She was far too weak for him. "N-November?"
Bucky chuckled at her breathless guess. "Absolutely not."
"Aah, I really hate you."
Bucky pulled away enough to meet her gaze. Chloe waited for a smart-mouth response from him but all he did was stare at her for the longest time.
"...March," he whispered. Chloe's eyes were widening when he added, "You figure out the day."
Chloe beamed. "I can do that." She grabbed the sides of his face. "The 1st?"
"Nu-uh!"
Chloe scrunched her face. "I'm going to figure it out." She planted a kiss on him. "And for every day that I guess, I'm going to get a good kiss out of you, do you understand?"
"Yes, ma'am." Bucky smirked.
"The 2nd?"
"No."
Chloe dove for another kiss. Bucky held her tight to thoroughly kiss her. They were each going to have their own type of fun.

I've been thinking about this a while now. And I'm still not too sure where to go with it (as in how I would want the end result of this to be). (I also don't know what the name of this ghost is...) (Also also I got this idea from a song lol.)
So what if that super powered substance were to come into contact with the dead? Specifically, the remains of this fine lady. Since she passed so long ago she doesn't have anything but maybe bones. But maybe her spirit comes into contact with it too (due to being a bit stuck in that spot), and becomes a much more powerful spirit because of the substance. She'd also gain super powers relating to her death (As well as ghost related powers). She would have powers of ice and cold. (Kinda like the opposite of Jay in a way) She is also constantly freezing and wet (She was horribly attacked and drowned. Afterwards her body was hidden away were it was never found.)
But how would that happen? Well, maybe RapoMan and Captain Ablaze bust some bad guys hiding out in an old building. And during a scuffle with the bad guys (or maybe the two just bumped into each other due to a lack of communication? I can also see that happening for a dumb reason like that. Though neither of them would admit that lol.) the substance fell between the floorboards. And that was enough of a distraction for the bad guys to run off. And because they had to chase after them, they couldn't focus on the accidental spill right away (allowing the substance to contact her).
Of course, the two would have to return to the building to make sure that spill didn't do anything (As their super forms? Or their secret identities? Not sure). And lucky for them, nothing seems to be wrong! Except now that the building is a little more on the empty side, it has a bit of a haunted feel to it. Captain Ablaze/Jay is freaked out, but RapoMan/Kem keeps calm and tries reassuring Jay/Ablaze that there is no such thing as the paranormal. And yet, Jay/Ablaze is still on edge. He knows Kem/RapoMan has a point, but he just feels like someone is watching him. Actually, whoever it is isn't just watching. He could also swear that someone was touching him, and calling someone's name. He couldn't make out the name, and it wasn't his name, but it still felt like someone was calling out to him specifically.
Seeing that there wasn't a reason to be there, the two left the building and went home. But on the way home, Jay couldn't help but feel like whatever was at that building was following him. And by the time he got there, that feeling didn't go away. In fact, it felt like it was already there. Jay was so freaked out and tried to make himself calm down, but he couldn't stop having a mini panic attack. He did eventually calm down slightly, though it didn't last very long. Because once he finally calmed down, he saw her. A ghostly woman approached him, calling him a name he didn't understand. Jay soon learned that this woman thought that he was her previous lover in a past life. She said he looked just like him. She could just FEEL that they were soulmates destined to find each other over and over again. Jay was just scared and confused. What is the deal with this woman? Why did she follow him of all people? ...And why is she constantly hitting on him? (He gets used to it eventually).
The next day, Jay is no longer as afraid as before. But he is still super anxious. Besides, he doesn't know much if anything about this lady! So he gets ready to leave the house and hang out with Kem and Molly (who, at this point, are both good friends of Jay. Molly knows about their super identities at this point too. Jay has finally started getting over his feelings for the two, though it is still a bit rough for him), kind of hoping they would have an answer. And the whole time the ghost woman keeps on following him. This is super unsettling to Jay since it's a little obsessive, and he really doesn't want to talk about her in front of her. But he still gets the courage to go outside. (At this point, the ghost turns invisible so nobody can see her. She only wants Jay to see her.)
When he meets up with them, he asks if they believe in ghosts. Kem immediately assumes Jay is just asking because he's still freaked out from the abandoned building he thought was haunted (And honestly? He's not necessarily wrong). Kem then goes on to explain that all 'paranormal activity' can easily be explained away with science. But Molly is curious. While she isn't exactly a believer in the paranormal, she is very open minded about it and asks Jay about what he experienced. (Meanwhile Kem is probably rolling his eyes) Jay, now encouraged to talk, opens up about this ghost woman that followed him home from that building (He didn't mention her flirtatious nature though. Nor why she followed him.) Molly would be like 'really?! :0' and Kem would just highly doubt anything Jay said was true. And of course Jay would want to prove everything he had said, so he mentions that the ghost is right beside him. And of course she is invisible. So now both Molly and Kem are looking at Jay like 'WTR ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT???'. And of course Jay feels like an idiot. Molly claims she believes him, but who would believe something that ridiculous? Even Jay was starting to doubt himself. He didn't even want to talk about the ghost to them ever again. (But he will!)
Eventually, Jay and the ghost woman start to actually date each other. And things actually get serious. So much so, that Jay couldn't just keep it a secret from his friends and feel comfortable with it. So he tried to mention his new relationship to them a few times. At first they played along with Jay's 'fantasy', but eventually they grew incredibly concerned for him. (He's just getting over his feelings for them, and now he has an imaginary ghost girlfriend? It sounds kinda sad. Besides, since this ghost showed up, Jay had been a lot more distant than before.) So the two try to confront Jay and make sure he's doing okay. Jay is of course upset that they don't believe in him, and tries to convince them he's not making stuff up. But he fails horribly (The ghost just refuses to go visible in front of them). Sad and offended, Jay runs off to go home and sulk.
Back at home, Jay expresses his frustration to his ghost girlfriend (both about him not being taken seriously AND about her not helping the situation). She tries to make it up to him, and it works for a short while. But then Jay accidentally reveals his previous feelings toward his friends (He had been asked about this before, but he told her he didn't have that kind of relationship with them). And the ghost girl, obsessed with him, gets incredibly offended by this. Seeing him as a cheat, she lashes out at Jay.
Lucky for Jay, Molly and Kem were right outside his house (Mostly to apologize and make sure he's okay. Kem is a tad reluctant since he thinks Jay needs some alone time first, but Molly wanted to do it asap. So she kinda dragged Kem there lol). When they realized Jay was in trouble, they busted through the door to try to help. (And yes, at this point the ghost was visible to Kem and Molly. She wanted them to see her and how they hurt her.) And as much as they tried to help Jay, they couldn't do much. (Please imagine Jay saying 'we could really use RapoMan right now!' And Kem responding with 'and what is he going to do? Punch it to death?')
But Molly gets the idea of just telling the ghost to leave. Kem and Jay agree that that is a very dumb idea that would never work. But Molly tries anyway (It didn't work). Molly could have sworn that demanding a poltergeist to leave you alone should work. (Kem: 'Where did you hear something like that from?' Molly: 'I read it from somewhere! I figured it wouldn't hurt...')
Eventually Molly realized that it would only work if JAY told the ghost to leave (It is in HIS home, bugging HIM). Jay initially refuses. (Jay: 'It didn't work for her, why would it work if I do it?') But Molly is insistent that he tries. Even Kem thought it was a decent idea (Hey, if ghosts are real, anything is possible now). But Jay keeps refusing, admitting that he didn't want her to leave (Jay: 'I don't want her to leave...' Molly: 'What? Why not?!' J: 'I don't want her to go!! I don't want to be alone again!') And of course the ghost is like: 'Oh really?! You'll be alone? Alone with those two, more like! You want them, don't you?! You pig!' (And Kem and Molly are thinking like: 'HOLY RAPO this is awkward' and Jay is just thinking: '...shiitake mushrooms!')
Jay tried explaining that wasn't true, but it didn't work (He clearly still had some complicated feelings for them, and his powers were activating as a result. Oops.) Molly and Kem stood up for him though, saying that they most definitely weren't a thing. (Ghost: 'You two lie! Horrible, all of you!' Kem: 'I'll have you know that a liar is the last thing I am, and that he is the last thing I'd want.' Molly: 'He tells the truth! And I have no interest in him whatsoever either!' Meanwhile Jay is both happy and slightly offended.) But as much as the ghost is surprised they aren't (and likely never will be) a thing, that didn't make her less upset at Jay. ('if he really loved me, he wouldn't think about anyone else!') The ghost continued to threaten and yell at him. Jay was once again encouraged to tell her to go away, but he still didn't want to. Not only was he lonely, he also wanted to get to know her more.
Though from the pressure of everything going on, Jay felt like he had to do something. He couldn't just tell her to leave forever, since he wouldn't mean it. But he could try something else. And so he told her to simply knock it off. To stop acting forceful and immature. To stop being cruel to him and his friends. To stop obsessively following him. To stop calling him by that name that wasn't his. To mind her own business. To stay somewhere else that wasn't his home. Or his friends' homes. And that if she couldn't do those things, she should go away and never see or hear him ever again (This was the hardest part for Jay, but he meant it). And after that, the ghost stopped. She quietly apologized and left. Though not before saying she'll be staying where he first found her.
After this, the three would probably talk a little bit about what happened. I think their friendship would get stronger because of it!
And as much as I don't know what I want to do with the ghost girl, I know she'll be back! (Besides, there's a plot twist about her death I've been thinking about!)

Split
Tumblr media
Split is a horror/thriller written and directed by M Night Shyamalan. It takes place in the same universe as Unbreakable, and follows Casey (Anya Taylor Joy), a teenage girl who gets kidnapped along with two other classmates. She wakes up in a room, and soon the girls find out that their captor might be even more dangerous and crazy than he first appeared.
I’m in a precarious position with this film; I hadn’t seen it when it came out, and now, years later, knowing what the main twist is, and having seen the trailer for the sequel Glass, many of the things in this film fell flat for me. Twists and turns that should’ve been shocking left no impact because I already knew exactly what was happening. This isn’t to say that I didn’t like anything about this film, or that my problems with it were only because I knew the premise and outcome, but I would be lying if I didn’t say that it significantly diminished my enjoyment.
So seeing as I’m about to see Glass in a few days, let’s go over some of the things that worked and didn’t about Split; warning, there will be SPOILERS.
Kevin (and the other 23):
The main drive to see this film from the very first trailers and marketing was James McAvoy, who plays Kevin, and 23 other personalities all trapped in his body. Now, what this film does, is it takes the idea of multiple personality disorder, and takes to a whole new level, where not only are all these different personalities completely unrelated to Kevin, but they are entirely different people. When someone ‘takes the light’ (controls Kevin’s body) their appearance doesn’t change, but their physical abilities do; some of them have diabetes, some have OCD, some are female, some are physically very strong, and some have the strength of a child.
This is all explained to us through the character of Dr Fletcher, Kevin’s psychiatrist who specializes in treating patients who have this disorder called DID.
Now, for the film, this is both a virtue, and a flaw. Because this McAvoy was the focus of the marketing, the scene where the girls realize Patricia and Dennis are not two different people, is meant to be terrifying and confusing; it’s shot and presented like a revelation, a shocking twist. But it isn’t; we already know Kevin has multiple personalities because the trailer and the marketing told us so!
Additionally, why does Kevin have 23 personalities? We never see more than 5 max, and even still we only really follow 4: Dennis, Patricia, Hedwig and the Beast. We get a glimpse here and there of  4 other personalities, but that’s about it. The film could have easily been about 5 personalities instead of 23, but I guess 23 sounds more impressive even if we never see the majority of them.
The 4 characters we do see were all interesting and engaging. I give major props to McAvoy; he nails this part. They all have distinct personalities, mannerisms patterns of speech and even move differently based on the character. I was afraid he would overreact a lot of the scenes, but he is surprisingly subdued, and is a major factor into the film’s creepiness and atmosphere.
Dennis is the ring leader and he has OCD, and is a germaphobe. It’s also implied that he may have pedophilic tendencies, though I wasn’t clear on whether those were his or Barry’s or even Kevin’s. He was by far the most proactive of the personalities and the creepiest; I liked that his germophobia and OCD were products of Kevin’s childhood trauma (since his mother used to beat him if he’d make a mess), and I really enjoyed his increasingly unhinged attempts to convince Dr Fletcher that he was Barry.
His interactions with the girls were also creepy, and there was a prevailing sexual threat in all of his scenes with them which was incredibly unsettling.
Patricia was who the film builds as the ringleader of the Horde, while Dennis was the muscle. She reigns Dennis in, and seems to be the one who came up with the story of the Beast. It’s difficult to tell if the Beast’s sick moral code and dogma come from her and Dennis twisting Dr Fletcher’s speeches on DID patients, or if she accepted them from the Beast himself. She too gets a standout scene where she makes sandwiches and it’s pretty effective.
Hedwig was the character I liked most, and I can’t believe I’m saying that watching James McAvoy pretend he’s a 9 year old with a lisp was the best part of this film. Gain, McAvoy is rather convincing in the part of a 9 year old boy trapped in a grown adult’s body, coloring all the scenes between him and Cassey in a layer of yikes, especially the scene where he asks to kiss her. But he’s also genuinely funny and gets the best dialogue and scenes in the film, and I enjoyed every time he was on screen.
The Beast:
Now, the Beast is somewhat of a twist in the film, in that he’s not one of the 23 personalities, and many of them (including Dr Fletcher) don’t even believe he exists. Turns out he does exist and he was born on the train on which Kevin’s father escaped from Kevin. I found him being an amalgamation of a bunch of the animals from the zoo where Dennis works clever, like his powers being having skin like a rhino’s hide, strength of a lion, and the agility of a monkey. I liked that he goes after the two girls specifically because of an incident that happened to Dennis, where two teenage girls pranked him. I even liked again, how his philosophy about taking over the world and getting it rid of weak people, people who are not ‘broken’ was really a twisted version of Dr Fletcher’s speech about how through trauma DID patients become more than human.
What I didn’t like was, well… look his powers are fucking stupid alright? He eats people. He is a human man who eats raw flesh and hasn’t died yet. Like… maybe I can suspend my disbelief that one of the personalities has diabetes, and maybe even that the Beast can somehow survive getting shot point blank in the chest, but this whole eating people thing was just so dumb! And the whole debate of who is broken and worthy and who is weak and unworthy was also so dumb. He also doesn’t have any character arc or even a conclusion. It’s just the Beast wants to eat people, and in the end he eats people. The end. There is no climax to his story, no revelation or realization, it’s just he can eat more people now. Great.
Useless Characters With 0 Agency:
I will own up to the fact that I’m not a huge fan of kidnapping plots, and 90% of that is because I hate that no matter how many times the person who gets kidnapped tries to escape, they inevitably must fail, so that whoever does the rescuing can save them at the end. I thought this case might be different, since Casey is, at first, presented like a fairly competent character, and I thought, maybe, she could escape. But boy oh boy was Casey a plank of wood.
First, I understand why she would be having trouble at school and connecting to other peers because of he backstory, but why she was so needlessly rude, mean and uncooperative with the other two girls that are captured was beyond me. The girls are perfectly nice and kind to her, they want her to escape with them, and in a way they are right; three of them, vs one of Dennis is still better odds, no matter how ‘strong’ Dennis might be.
Then there is the fact that she does nothing for over 90% of the film. She attempts to escape once, and even then she doesn’t really; she steals Hedwig’s walkie talkie, and I can’t tell if it’s Joy’s acting or Shyamalan's direction, but he reaction at having her last hope of escape snatched away from her was nowhere near appropriate enough. She spends most of the film being extremely subdued and confused, and even in the very last section, where she does actually take the shotgun, nothing she does is even remotely effective against the Beast.
Also who TF decides running into a cage and locking themselves in, with only 2 rounds of a shotgun is A SMART IDEA? ESPECIALLY SOMEONE WHO’S BEEN HUNTING HER WHOLE LIFE?
Her backstory was genuinely upsetting and creepy and I hated all of those scenes, but they were effective and achieved exactly what they needed to to set up her character. What I didn’t like or get, was Cassey’s ending. She never confronts her uncle; we never even see him after the last flashback and I guess maybe you could argue that it’s implied that Cassey would tell the police officer what he’s been doing to her, but that’s such a stretch and unnecessarily vague ending that I don’t know why it was there.
Like Kevin and the Beast, Cassey has no character arc. She wasn’t vain or shallow or ‘had felt no pain’ like the other 2 girls; there was no character flaw she needed to overcome. If anything, her character flaw seemed to be that she was passive, but she doesn’t learn not to be by the end; she is exactly the same at the end as she was at the start, except slightly more traumatized.
The other two girls are non-entities. I don’t understand why the film bothers to introduce them only to have them disappear a third way in, I didn’t like that the film punished their attempts to escape and be proactive for no reason and I didn’t like the message. Neither one of those girls were mean or catty or vain; they were regular teenagers. Claire invites Cassey to the birthday party even though she shows no interest to be there, she tries to get her to join them against Dennis, they are never rude to her? If you wanted the audience to hate them, you need to actually give us reasons to hate them; like this it just seems like the film agrees with the Beast that teenage girls are really horrible, just for existing!
I also really hated the wasted time of showing Marcia trying to open the locker with the hanger. Why linger on that scene for so long if you won’t even show us the outcome? We just see she’s dead in the next scene and that’s it. That part genuinely made me angry, because the film had been so good at representing women up until that point, and it was such a disappointment.
Dr Fletcher was probably the worst part. She spends the movie telling us about Kevin’s condition, and talking to Dennis. She realizes quickly something is wrong, realizes that there is something dangerous about Dennis and the fact that he won’t let her talk to any of the other characters, realizes that the Beast is likewise a dangerous thought and does have the good sense to go to the Zoo and seek Dennis out. BUT she’s also dumb enough not to let anyone know she’s going, she doesn’t immediately call the police after Dennis gives her a speech every serial killer would think is a bit much, and doesn’t take any precautions to make sure she’s not followed when she finds Cassey and STILL TRIES TO REASON WITH DENNIS EVEN AFTER SHE SEES WHAT IS HAPPENING! She was a completely useless character; she’s only there for exposition and that’s entirely it.
Pacing:
The very last thing I want to touch on is the pacing. Shyamalan is known for very slow films; he likes lots of slow tracking shots, he lets the camera linger on scenes that could easily be cut, he likes his long establishing shot, awkward pauses in dialogue, etc. These are all stylistic choices; you can argue about their merit, but at the end of the day, if you’ve seen one of his films and didn’t like how slow it is, you won’t like any of them. My issue is that a lot of this film could have used some editing. I already mentioned how the entire subplot with Marcia and Claire is at once superfluous and doesn’t need to take up that much time considering its conclusion, as well ass Dr Fletcher having a lot of circular dialogue scenes in which she just explains DID over and over again. The pacing was glacial; I genuinely think that some quicker cuts and scenes would have benefited it so much, and maybe another draft of the screenplay, tightening up the story and giving the characters actual arcs and conclusions.
Conclusion:
It’s fine. Honestly, I didn’t care much for it, but it wasn't a bad film. There is a lot good in it, but the some of its parts isn’t stronger than some individual scenes and James McAvoy’s acting. I will still watch Glass and I do think you should check it out if it sounds at all interesting; just don’t expect a masterpiece.

GyJo week, Day 3: Birthdays
I was really excited the birthday theme was on my actual birthday, so I wrote a fic. Its NSFW, so be warned. You can read it on Ao3 with the link or just keep reading here :^0
If there was one thing Johnny expected out of his racing partner, it would be that the man was full of surprises. However, being woken up from a nap during one of their seldom taken breaks to experience another one of the Italian’s sudden bomb-shells was not on his list of favorite things. In fact, when he heard Gyro’s rather excited calls to get him up, the young jockey grumbled and turned the other way, pulling his star spangled hat down further to cover his ears. “Johnny, come on! I have to show you something!” Gyro shook his shoulder, making damn sure he wouldn’t be falling asleep with the constant rocking. “Can’t it wait till sunrise…?” Johnny grumbled. “No, it’s gotta be tonight!” The blonde sighed, knowing that when his partner got in this determined, there’d be no refusing. It was either get it done now, or stay up even later trying to ignore it. So, he used his elbows to lift himself up, slowly crawling out of the warmth of his bed roll. He shivered at the bristling air, missing the warmth of his blanket. He just hoped whatever joke or idea he knew Gyro was going to lay on him wouldn’t take too long. “Alright, you’ve got my attention. What’s up?” The Italian grinned, putting a finger to his oddly groomed facial hair. “Nyo ho, don’t sound to excited Johnny boy.” Johnny then realized he was hiding something behind his back with his other arm. He wasn’t concealing it that well either, in his excitement to show it off, Johnny could see part of a box reveal itself. “What is that.” The Joestar looked unamused, still wiping the sleep out of his eyes. If Gyro had just woken him up to show that he finally bought a damn toothbrush from the catalogue, he would’ve been pissed. Would have, if the other man didn’t suddenly reveal the box to Johnny, arms outstretched, and give a big, grill exposing smile. “Happy Birthday Johnny!” At first, the Kentucky boy was just confused. “I never told you my birthday.” He responded almost immediately. “Well, yes, but its been a month or two since we’ve been riding, and I figured it’s gotta come eventually.” “This race is supposed to take 60-80 days. My birthday could be way out of that range.” Gyro huffed, refusing to give up. “Well is it?” It was at that point Johnny must’ve finally home to his senses, that or the sleepiness finally got out of his system, because he finally really thought about his birth date. How long had it been since he stopped celebrating it? Definitely since before the accident. When he considered it closely, he came to the realization it was around when his brother… “So…? When is it?” Johnny looked up, forgetting his partner was even there. If he didn’t think to hard about it, he would’ve thought the Italian looked a bit concerned. That couldn’t be it though. “Uh… I… Don’t remember.” The blonde quietly responded, lowering his body back to the ground. “What? You don't remember? Johnny, I know you Americans are different, but you cant expect me to believe you don’t celebrate birthdays!” Gyro let out a little bit of a snort, which only made Johnny curl into himself more, turning away from his friend. “Yeah, maybe I’m just weird.” It didn’t take much to sense the discomfort in the jockey’s voice, and Gyro felt a little bad for teasing him this time. He put the box aside, the mood quite unsettled now, and made his was over to his friend. “What’s wrong Johnny?” The Italian put a hand on his shoulder, but this time it was gentle, cupping him lightly. “It’s nothing, really.” His partner could already tell in the tone of his voice that it most certainly was not nothing. Johnny was doing a fair job at concealing it, turning his head away and all, but the light coming from their campfire had given away the tears dampening his cheeks. Guilt washed over Gyro then, absolutely not expecting to open up this can of worms with a simple present. Sighing quietly, the older man decided just stroking Johnny’s shoulder wasn’t going to be enough to console his upset friend, so he took a moment to hook his arms under the smaller man’s arm pits, lifting him up so he was face to face with Gyro. “Gyro what the hell do you think y-you’re-“ Johnny was unable to continue his sentence, coming to the realization that Gyro would be able to see his tear stained face clear as day now. He tried to conceal his embarrassment by scrubbing the wetness away with his star speckled arm band, but it was too late. The Italian’s suspicions were all but absolute. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you.” His voice was unusually collected, hand taking refuge where Johnny’s were previously to touch the younger man’s cheek. “It wasn’t your fault.” “Then…?” “I haven’t celebrated my birthday since my brother died.” He looked down, letting out a grim laugh. “Actually, It’s been so long I kinda forgot when it was really.” “Oh Johnny…” Gyro looked at him with sincere eyes, and it was then the young jockey felt uncomfortable, like he was being pitied. “Listen, it’s not important. Let’s just go back to sleep.” Johnny tried to get himself out of Gyro’s grasp, just forget about this whole thing and act like he didn’t just cry in front of his goddamned mentor, but the Italians grip was firm. Firm… but comforting. Johnny looked up. Maybe he was just tired, or maybe the tears were still making his eyes a bit blurry, but he thought he saw something in Gyro’s eyes. For a second, he felt as if what he was seeing wasn’t pity, but… concern. Before he could register the feeling further, Gyro leaned down and kissed him. It wasn’t like they hadn’t done it once before, but Johnny was pretty sure that time was just spurred on by the alcohol they had in their system. This, no, this was different. The way Gyro pulled him in further, dragging him out of the warmth of his bed roll and onto the Italian’s lap, the way he sank deeper into the kiss, entering Johnny’s mouth with his hot tongue, it all felt different. It felt real. It felt exhilarating. But still, Johnny couldn’t help the nagging feeling that maybe he should pull away, so he did. Rather reluctantly. “W-wait Gyro. Why are you doing this?” The blonde struggled to keep his composure. He was trembling slightly, and he wasn’t sure if it was from the cold or the feeling of being touched like that after so long. The Italian gave another snort, pulling Johnny with his arms that were now wrapped against the smaller man’s back. “Shouldn’t that be obvious? I wouldn’t get you a birthday present if I didn’t already like you, Johnny boy.” Feeling a blush spreading across his cheeks, the younger man squirmed on his partners lap, suddenly self conscious. “If you’re just doing this to make me feel better, I’ll punch you.” “Oh I know.” Gyro laughed, getting closer to the other with a widening grin. “And don’t worry. I wanna make you feel good, but in a different way than you’re thinking.” Johnny didn’t feel the need to protest too much after that, especially when Gyro’s lips pressed against his a second time. Gyro pulled him in closer, practically having the jockey straddle him. Not that he noticed, he couldn’t feel it after all. What Johnny did feel, however, was nearly overwhelming. The way the Italians scent lingered near his nose every time he got in closer, keeping him embraced, when he pulled off the jockey’s hat and slid a hand under his shirt, coasting over the small of his back, it was intoxicating. Suddenly, Gyro made a noise, one unusual enough for Johnny to break away for a second, panting. “What’s happened?” “Ah, it’s nothing. Well, okay, not nothing. You’re kind of grinding against my…” Both of them looked down, and it was then Johnny noticed the visible tent in Gyro’s pants. Not only that, the jockey was also pressing against him quite harshly while they were occupied. “Oh, sorry.” The blonde replied, moving himself back a little. “Don’t worry.” Gyro laughed, examining his partner as well. “From the looks of it, you’re no better than me.” Johnny looked down at himself and realized he had gotten hard as well, not that he felt it. He hadn’t gotten into a sexual encounter with another person since his accident, but he could still get the occasional boner. It always came at awkward times though. Still, he felt the slightest tinge of embarrassment, and instead of acknowledging it, he turned his attention to his partner. “Give me a second.” The Joestar said, starting to move himself off the Italian’s lap with some resistance. It wasn’t easy to do when your legs didn’t work, after all. “Woah Johnny, what’re you-“ Gyro started to speak, but he didn’t finish his sentence when the Kentucky boy unbuckled his signature belt. Getting the zipper undone proved to be just as easy, and soon enough Johnny was pulling down Gyro’s pants. He palmed the Italian’s clothed erection, feeling a bit cocky when he heard the man above him illicit a moan. Johnny made extra sure to be slow, applying the gentle pressure of his tongue to the growing wet spot on Gyro’s undergarments. He could taste the saltiness of the other’s precum through the material, and he pushed harder, sucking around him. It was not long before Gyro pulled Johnny’s mouth away, panting. “Slow down there. I said I was going to make you feel good. It defeat’s the purpose if I get off first.” Johnny smiled, raising a brow. “You’d come just from that?” The other man slanted his eyes, lips pursing. “If you could’ve felt how I did, I doubt you’d last any longer.” He put a hand to Johnny’s chest and pushed him slightly, commanding him to reposition. It took a while, but Johnny was now sitting on his back, facing up the man above him, who was currently pulling the blonde’s shirt up, exposing his nipples to the chill air. Goosebumps rose on his skin, but they quickly subsided when Gyro took his mouth to one of Johnny exposed buds. The blonde regretted teasing him so much, because now it seemed he was getting his due. The older man made circles around his partner’s chest, giving a tooth grin at the boy when he saw the nub begin to stiffen. It seemed that Johnny’s hard on, which had subsided for the time being, was now at full mast again, poking at the other’s thighs. Gyro sucked harder on him, biting slightly. Johnny tried to keep his voice as quiet as possible, but he found little moans escaping him still. Gyro definitely heard them, with the smug look spreading across his face. Turning his attention away from the abused nipple, the Italian drifted downwards, trailing his tongue further until it reached the brim of Johnny’s waistband. Again, it took sometime, but Gyro was able to fully removed the Jousters starry pants. Johnny had noticed his underwear going along with it, but said nothing, a sudden nervousness settling deep in his core. Gyro marveled at the body below him, but when he turned his attention to his partner’s face, he could again see that slight discomfort in it. “Did I get too carried away?” He asked, scratching the back of his scalp awkwardly. “No, no, it’s not that. It’s just… I don’t feel anything down there. I’ve tried.” Even though the blonde sounded defeated, Gyro seemed to perk up, like he knew something Johnny didn’t, “Nyo ho, so you’ve fingered yourself before?” “W-what of it?!” Johnny said flustered. “Don’t worry Johnny,” Gyro laughed, enjoying the expression his partner was now making. “Just because you’ve tried it doesn't mean it’s hopeless. You probably just didn’t hit your prostate.” “My what?” Johnny quickly decided not to probe further. He forgot Gyro was a doctor, so he probably knew what he was talking about. Getting comfortable, he lied back down on the ground, trying not to focus on the act Gyro was about to preform, but rather on the sky above him. The older man took a quick second to retrieve something from his bag, presumably some kind of oil, though Johnny couldn’t really tell with the fire starting to go out. “Now, tell me when I hit something.” Gyro said, slicking his fingers up. Johnny wouldn’t feel the discomfort of being entered, but he still wanted to make sure he didn’t put too much pressure on the younger boy. Slowly, he entered one finger in, and when Gyro heard no response, just an embarrassed cough coming from the other man, he decided to go further, keeping his reach and curling his fingers. A second finger quickly followed, and the Italian used his other free hand to make sure Johnny was still erect. At this point the jockey was ready to give up and  go back to pleasing Gyro, so he broke the silence. “Gyro you can stop, I don't think I’m gonna feel anythi- ah!” It seemed at that moment, Gyro hit something that sent a shock through Johnny’s body. It was sudden, but the blonde was sure he could feel it for a second. “Ho! So that was it huh?” The jockey put a hand to his mouth, still bewildered by the sound that came out of him, and nodded. “Well, all I have to do is make sure I get it again!” The Italian let out another one of his distinct laughs, lowering his pants down more till they were around his ankles. His cock fully out now, Johnny took precautions not to stare to much at the other man. But he couldn’t help himself, especially when he saw his partner slick himself with some more oil. “I’m going to enter you, is that alright, Johnny?” “Y-yeah.” The blonde responded. Inside, he was practically itching at the bit to get that feeling again. Slowly, Gyro settled himself into the younger man. Again, Johnny didn’t say anything, so the Italian started thrusting, trying to reach the same spot he did before. “Hey Johnny, give me your arm, I wanna try a different position.” Johnny obliged, feeling nothing, but definitely hearing the slick sounds coming from the contact. He ignored his own embarrassment at the noise as he was pulled once again into Gyro’s lap. Immediately , the position proved to be fruitful, for it took one well placed thrust for Johnny to see stars again. “Oh Gyro! Right there!” The older man exposed his grills in a smile, hitting the same spot again. “You’re so tight.” He admired, listening to Johnny’s increasingly loud moans. He examined the younger man closely, looking at the way the fire glinted in his blue eyes, tinting his skin a different shade. It took him a while to realize his feeling had become much more than that of a mentor, and for once he was glad his risk paid off when he kissed the boy. Gyro pressed his lips to the corner of Johnny’s watering eyes, tasting the salt there. “I love you.” Johnny didn’t respond, but that was probably due to the fact Gyro made another firm jab at his prostate. Still, he felt a sudden warmth bloom in his chest. It was the first time someone had said that since he was a kid, and it honestly made him a little dizzy. “Gyro I’m-“ The blonde squeaked out a response that was cut off by the sudden orgasim racking through his body. For a second he thought he could even feel himself ejaculate, but he must’ve been coming off the high of Gyro saying he loved him. The Italian took a few thrusts but soon enough he met his own climax, spilling deep inside his partner. Both of them clearly spent, It took a bit of fumbling to clean themselves off and get clothed again, but once they did, they were able to relax, cuddling close to one another on Johnny’s bed roll. “Did you really mean it?” Johnny finally asked wen the fire went out, shrouding them both in darkness. “That I love you? Yeah.” Gyro snickered, burying himself in the crook of the smaller man’s neck. Though he promised himself he wouldn’t cry again tonight, Johnny could feel a tear or two escaping him this time. “Thanks. I… I love you too.” He laughed, wiping away the wet pool on his cheek as his partner held him closer. For once, he felt a sense of calm. Like maybe, he didn’t have to worry about his past anymore. He could hold onto it, but he would know what the future had in store would bring an even better tomorrow. And maybe, he could celebrate again. “That reminds me, when’s your Birthday Gyro?” Johnny asked, breaking himself out of his train of thought. It was faint, but he could see Gyro’s outline. His eyes were closed, almost like he was sleeping, but he flashed a smile at Johnny’s inquiry. “Heh, It’s a secret.” “Are you serious.” Johnny raised a brow, asking why now of all times his partner had to be cheeky. His thoughts quickly dashed when Gyro looked up at him. Through the darkness he could see the determination in his eyes. “Stay with me after this race is all over, and maybe you’ll find out.” Johnny blushed, and after some consideration, nodded. He decided he might as well get some rest then. It had been a good birthday after all.

Strength of Schedule
Four weeks to go before the regular season ends and the postseason begins. As we go down the list of teams in the Elite Fantasy League we look at their remaining strength of schedule and the teams they play rest of the way, it'll be a quick look at what each team has coming up and how we think it'll play out for this week, Week 11.
Yuba City Sultans (7/3/0) - Strength of Schedule = .400 (Easiest Remaining Schedule) This team has the easiest remaining schedule in the entire league, at 7/3/0 and first place in the Lombardi division they look poised to continue their dominance. A win this week can ultimately lock up the Lombardi division for them. A loss last week hurt their chances of securing the number one seed for the postseason but regardless four weeks remain and with the easiest remaining schedule, Yuba City Sultans will have an excellent opportunity to grab that one seed if things play out the way we suspect.
Remaining Schedule vs. Buds Bums, @ Straight Edge Society, vs. PURPLEHAZE, @ Rainelo Hawks
Week 11 Opponent: Buds Bums We suspect that Yuba City Sultans will get the win here and secure the Lombardi division. This will be their 3rd division title overall, capturing prior divisions in 2015 and 2016 (Shula & Atlantic). It'll mark their 1st Lombardi divisional championship if they can beat Buds Bums; with that being said they will be able to choose to rest their starters the rest of the way or they can opt to try and climb that ladder to get the number one seed and have home-field throughout the playoffs. Their schedule is favorable playing only one team with a winning record the rest of the way, at this point. The Sultans are hitting their stride at the right time and even with last weeks loss they are in good shape for Week 11 and beyond.
Black Hole Son (8/2/0) & The Busy Killers (5/5/0) - Strength of Schedule = .425 (Second Least Difficult Remaining Schedule) These two teams are tied with the second-easiest remaining schedule. Both are set to play each other in the first round of the postseason if the playoffs started today, luckily for them or at least for The Busy Killers there are four weeks left to go. Black Hole Son has already secured the Noll division, avoiding a major crash. The Busy Killers are looking like they're fighting for a wild card spot at this point. If Yuba City Sultans can lose the remaining divisional games and The Busy Killers can win out they have a shot at upsetting the Sultans and winning the Lombardi division, but unfortunately for The Busy Killers we don't see that happening, the Sultans have a simple schedule and a walk in the park the rest of the way. Luckily for The Busy Killers, they have a favorable schedule also and they need it if they want to have a chance at the second season.
Black Hole Son Remaining Schedule @ Rainelo Hawks, vs. Hyrule Empire, vs. The Canadian Cripplers, vs. HellbentKronik
Week 11 Opponent: Rainelo Hawks Black Hole Son has nothing almost to play for besides the best record in the EFL and the best season in their franchise history. They need to secure another victory or two to stamp themselves as division champs and the number one seed so in all reality they'll want to continue playing their starters even though they technically can sit them and still end up in the postseason. Expect them to stick with Carr at quarterback and try and push their winning streak to seven in a row. They can rest their players the remaining four weeks and go into the playoffs healthy but this team isn't content with that - this is by far their best season ever and they are going to look to put any hopes of Rainelo Hawks making a push for the playoffs to an end in Week 11. We expect this game to be a tight affair with Black Hole Son moving closer to that lock as the 1 seed.
The Busy Killers Remaining Schedule @ Straight Edge Society, vs. Evolution, vs. Rainelo Hawks, @ Buds Bums
Week 11 Opponent: Straight Edge Society The Busy Killers are going to need this win if they want to keep the rest of the teams who are right behind them vying for that final wild-card spot. Electing to go with Dak last week over Mahomes is a bit of a surprise. Will they continue to allow Dak to lead this team or hand of the keys to Mahomes once again? Straight Edge Society is on a mission to shock the league and push for the spot that The Busy Killers has. The Busy Killers have to win and on paper should win but the way they are playing barely eeking out opponents compared to the way Straight Edge Society played last week, we here at the EFL Network expect The Busy Killers to stumble here against Straight Edge Society in what could spell trouble and an end to their postseason hopes.
Balls Deep (5/5/0) - Strength of Schedule = .450 (Third Least Difficult Remaining Schedule) Balls Deep lost a tough one last week against Evolution but their schedule gets easier this week and then heats up with three straight division games. These last few games (mainly the division ones) will determine where Balls Deep finishes. They have a shot at winning their division if they can run the table. If they can't they at least need to win two out of their four remaining games to stay into playoff contention. Lackluster play at the quarterback position has been a nagging issue for this young franchise and if they want to have a shot the rest of the way, they have got to fix this issue with Goff - or decide to go in another direction.
Balls Deep Remaining Schedule @ HellbentKronik, vs. VanillaGorillas, vs. Thunderbuddy4Life, @ Hyrule Empire
Week 11 Opponent: HellbentKronik Balls Deep will get a much needed easier opponent this coming week against HellbentKronik sits in the last place in the league. Balls Deep needs to correct their quarterback issue to compete against the rest of the Shula division in the coming weeks but regardless of how Goff performs this week, Balls Deep should get the win and keep pace with the other Shula teams.
VanillaGorilla (5/5/0), The Canadian Cripplers (4/6/0), & Straight Edge Society (3/7/0) - Strength of Schedule = .475 (Fourth Least Difficult Remaining Schedule) Three teams are tied for the fourth easiest remaining schedule and with two playing each other this coming weekend and two located in the same division eyeing a Week 14 match-up these three teams are in store for a tight race to the finish line. VanillaGorillas has the hardest remaining opponents, but probably the best chance to finish in front of Straight Edge Society and The Canadian Cripplers who are in the same division and will be battling to leapfrog one another. It starts this weekend where we're going to get a more clear picture of who has the best chance to slide into a possible Wild Card spot or even a division title (VanillaGorillas).
VanillaGorillas Remaining Schedule @ The Canadian Cripplers, @ Balls Deep, vs. Hyrule Empire, @ Thunderbuddy4Life
Week 11 Opponent: The Canadian Cripplers 6/4/0 all-time against The Canadian Cripplers, VanillaGorillas have had a wild season thus far. They have been back and forth all year, even capping off a four-game winning streak at one point. With four games to go and sitting at .500, they have three divisional games lined up in the next three weeks. This is a game they must-have if they want to have a chance to rally the troops to a division title. Of course, VanillaGorillas are very streaky and you never know which team is going to show up - that being said we're expecting them to crumble against the pressure in a cold November game that calls for heavy snow and a high of 36 degrees in Thunderbay, Ontario, Canada - let's not forget Chicago gets cold and VanillaGorillas is used to the frigid temperatures but this cold front is coming from the north winds pushing down from Hudson Bay and Baffin Island the coldest winds recorded in Canada since the 1960s. The Cripplers are looking strong and with this weather blowing in - VanillaGorillas will probably be looking to step back on that heated bus as soon as they step off it.
The Canadian Cripplers Remaining Schedule Vs. VanillaGorillas, @ HellbentKronik, @ Black Hole Son, vs. Straight Edge Society
Week 11 Opponent: VanillaGorillas The Cripplers looked done for three weeks ago, now at 4/6/0 they are making a case of a late-season surge. A big home-game this weekend against VanillaGorillas could signify a chance to push toward a postseason appearance. Although the division is probably out of the question barring a collapse from Black Hole Son. Even then The Cripplers would have to win out which is doable but will be difficult against Black Hole Son Week 13. One game at a time though for this squad, after starting off miserably and dealing with injury upon injury they have finally found some consistentcy. With Brees back, they'll look to continue their winnings ways even with his unsettling performance last weekend they got the 'W' I expect Brees to correct those mistakes and shake off what some are saying was a game he should have sat out last weekend.
Straight Edge Society's Remaining Schedule @ The Busy Killers, @ Yuba City Sultans, @ HellbentKronik, vs. The Canadian Cripplers
Week 11 Opponent: The Busy Killers What a tough remaining schedule if you look at this team's remaining four games. The plus is that they have three straight home games and one away game against a division rival who they are evenly matched with. Straight Edge Society has been in close games all year, unlucky for them they have come up short more times than not, but with two big back-to-back weeks coming up against major players in the postseason; they have an excellent opportunity to knock their opponents off a couple of pegs. They like to keep things close and I suspect this Week 11 contest will be close until the final seconds. Straight Edge Society has Lamar Jackson playing lights out, my only hope is we'll get to see Jackson vs. Mahomes instead of Jackson vs. Prescott. I believe they can sneak away with a big home win here which could gear themselves up for two pivotal division match-ups that may see a Week 14 win and you're in scenario.
Evolution (7/3/0), PURPLEHAZE (6/4/0), Thunderbuddy4Life (4/6/0), & HellbentKronik (3/7/0) - Strength of Schedule = .500 (Sixth Most/ Fifth Least Difficult Remaining Schedule) At .500 you have ultimately a 50/50 chance of winning out or possibly slipping down the ladder. The majority of these teams are in postseason contention and with two in the Walsh division, it's quite surprising they don't have a more difficult remaining schedule. The defending back-to-back Super Bowl Champions have an uphill battle but with a perfect division record thus far, all they need to do is win out in their division and finish with the same or better record than the other teams in their respected division to find themselves as Shula divisional champions. HellbentKronik should be able to play spoiler but nothing more, it's hard to imagine they'll find themselves in the playoff hunt even with a win this week.
Evolution's Remaining Schedule @ LilShupeScoresBIGPoints, @ The Busy Killers, vs. LilShupeScoresBIGPoints, @ BroncosTillDeath
Week 11 Opponent: LilShupeScoresBIGPoints After falling from the top spot in their division in Week 5 they find themselves back atop the Walsh division in a Week 11 contest against LilShupeScoresBIGPoints. Reports are coming out from Miami that they have agreed to send Curtis Samuels and a 3rd round pick to Buds Bums for Carson Wentz and their 4th round in 2020. This is a trade that Evolution had to make. In what seemed like an almost perfect season in regards to suffering no injuries, Evolution had to pull the trigger and get a durable quarterback who can continue giving this team the best opportunity to win. Last Sunday the news broke that Matthew Stafford is suffering through a broken back, so Evolution had to find someone to plug in there and with Wentz having a difficult time in Chicago perhaps a change of scenery in the Miami sun might do him good. Week 11 is going to be a tough go regardless, LilShupeScoresBIGPoints is determined to pull this division out and I expect them to snack a victory out of Miami with Wentz having only a couple of days to learn the offense. Evolution will have to shorten up their offense which will not help them secure the 'W'.
PURPLEHAZE's Remaining Schedule vs. BroncosTillDeath, vs. Buds Bums, @ Yuba City Sultans, vs. LilShupeScoresBIGPoints
Week 11 Opponent: BroncosTillDeath Even though PURPLEHAZE finds themselves with a .500 strength of schedule the rest of the way, boy is it a difficult one. Two fierce divisional games and a game against one of the best teams in the league in Yuba City Sultans. This team has found themselves on a downward spiral the last three weeks and they have to turn it around now! Their only a game back from Evolution and have to pull out a victory over BroncosTillDeath who Evolution lost to earlier in the season. If PURPLEHAZE can sweep BroncosTillDeath (which we expect them to) they will be in a great spot to pull out a division title as long as they can take out LilShupeScoresBIGPoints in Week 14. We're not there yet, but we are edging to Week 11 and with that said PURPLEHAZE needs Cousins, Cooks, and company to make their claim at the top dog in the Walsh division.
Thunderbuddy4Life's Remaining Schedule @ Hyrule Empire, @ Rainelo Hawks, vs. Balls Deep, vs. VanillaGorillas
Week 11 Opponent: Hyrule Empire Teams that seem like they are going in opposite directions, the Jimmy Garoppolo experiment hasn't gone the way the Super Bowl Champions had expected. The defense, on the other hand, has been lights out. With three division games left, Thunderbuddy4Life will be asking their defense to play masterfully the rest of the way, if they want any chance of getting back to the big dance with a chance to three-peat. They need their defense to carry them because this offense is soft and hasn't found their stride. I expect them to take the season sweep against Hyrule Empire, but I don't know if they can expect their defense to carry them all the way to another Super Bowl. The last two times they did it with Big Ben - Ben's been out and Jimmy G isn't the guy they were hoping. The question is how long can this team ride their defense to success? At 4/6/0 it doesn't seem very long; good luck champs.
HellbentKroinik's Remaining Schedule vs. Balls Deep, vs. The Canadian Cripplers, @ Straight Edge Society, @ Black Hole Son
Week 11 Opponent: Balls Deep This team has had a forgettable season. They aren't sure which direction to go at quarterback and with the star-power around the QB, one has to wonder why they can't get things going. The trade deadline is around the corner (Nov. 24th) and it might be time for this team to sell and sell hard for future draft picks in order to gain some extra picks to help get back to a competitive level next season. A home game against Balls Deep this week isn't going to be anything easy, the woes at quarterback for Balls Deep are nothing compared to the woes at quarterback for HellbentKronik. I don't expect them to get the win against the rookie franchise this season, but I do expect them to get one step closer to the 1st overall pick as they had been for most of the season.
BroncosTillDeath (5/5/0) - Strength of Schedule = .525 (Fifth Most Difficult Remaining Schedule) BroncosTillDeath have lost the last two games, it's been a tough go lately and with rumors of coaches and players no seeing eye-to-eye over last week, we are wondering what is going on in Denver. A team firmly in the mix still and in play, for the Walsh division, this team has to come together and rise above the problems they are having. I think it might be time for a players-only meeting. Cutting Brady seemed to have caused a lot of issues in the locker room and with James White no-showing last weekend while Fournette had a rest week, BroncosTillDeath has caused a lot of their own problems. If they want to get things back on track it's got to start here and now.
BroncosTillDeath's Remaining Schedule @ PURPLEHAZE, @ LilShupeScoresBIGPoints, vs. Buds Bums, @ Evolution
Week 11 Opponent: PURPLEHAZE The problems within the locker room and on the sideline have gained media attention going into Week 11 and whether the players or coaches want to tell us, the media everything is fine - we know that isn't true. A win can cure everything but will they get it? I don't think so, at least not this week. We're in freefall in Denver and where the air is thinner they can't afford to fall this fast.
Hyrule Empire (6/4/0) - Strength of Schedule = .525 (Fourth Most Difficult Remaining Schedule) Boy this team has a roster that plays their heart out each and every week but it might be rough this coming Week 11 against a tough division rival. Without 'DangerRuss' Russell Wilson calling the shots Hyrule Empire has to rely on Nick Foles who is coming off his injury. Hyrule Empire holds a slim lead in their division but their schedule isn't favorable and if they can't get their team banded back together quickly they might end up looking in from the outside. Their division has tightened up and if they don't keep pace with the other teams within they may finish what has been their most successful season crumbling under the pressure.
Hyrule Empire's Remaining Schedule vs. Thunderbuddy4Life, @ Black Hole Son, @ VanillaGorillas, @ Balls Deep
Week 11 Opponent: Thunderbuddy4Life Hyrule Empire will face off against division rival Thunderbuddy4Life, this is their second meeting and with the lack of key x-factor players on their roster this week it's going to be a challenge to beat Thunderbuddy4Life. I suspect a difficult preformance against the defending Super Bowl Champions leaving the next three weeks must wins for Hyrule Empire.
Buds Bums (3/7/0) - Strength of Schedule = .575 (Third Most Difficult Remaining Schedule) Buds Bums has fallen off the high horse they were on last season at this time. Their team is a wreck and they haven't been the same since the groin injury that Todd Gurley sustained last season. Picking up Tom Brady off of the waiver wire last week was a shocker, perhaps something to build on for 2020? They have packed Carson Wentz's bags and sent him off to Miami. At 3/7/0 Buds Bums can only hope for a miracle at this point, it can happen but there is a lot that would need to work in their favor to pull off that miracle. We won't dive into that just yet, if they want any hope it's got to start now with TB12.
Bums Bums Remaining Schedule @ Yuba City Sultans, @ PURPLEHAZE, @ BroncosTillDeath, vs. The Busy Killers
Week 11 Opponent: Yuba City Sultans What a rough game for this team who hasn't been able to put together back-to-back victories all season. If they want to do that, now is their chance - only it's not. This team has no chance at defeating Yuba City Sultans, and for them it is only a chance to play with pride and build for next season. Sorry Bums, but you're once again in the bottom of the league.
Rainelo Hawks (4/6/0) - Strength of Schedule = .600 (Second Most Difficult Remaining Schedule) Rainelo Hawks have suffered three straight losses, these losses - at least two of them, came from teams they should have defeated (The Cripplers and Buds Bums). At 4/6/0 they have a glimmer of hope to still grab a Wild Card spot. Ranked at 13th out of 16 teams Rainelo Hawks has to put their best foot forward and take care of the task at hand. It's a difficult outing the rest of the way but if any team can handle this kind of pressure, it's these Hawks.
Rainelo Hawks Remaining Schedule vs. Black Hole Son, vs. Thunderbuddy4Life, @ The Busy Killers, vs. Yuba City Sultans
Week 11 Opponent: Black Hole Son 10/8/0 all-time against Black Hole Son these Hawks need to put it together this weekend. Philip Rivers has been trending down all season and it has really put this team in a hole. They need Rivers at his best in Week 11. I can't imagine Rivers suddenly finding his mojo this late in the season but a home game in Seattle definitely helps. It's going to be a tight affair, I just don't see the Hawks getting this victory. I wish I could say I see them running the table and getting into the playoffs but I this in 2019 we'll all miss them in the postseason.
LilShupeScoresBIGPoints (5/5/0) - Strength of Schedule = .625 (Most Difficult Remaining Schedule) LilShupeScoresBIGPoints have been dealing with issues at quarterback all year but since Josh Allen has gotten in there, they're been able to find some consistency and stable ground. They're 5/5/0 and have the hardest remaining schedule, yet, they are in a position that they can end up as one of the top seeds if they win out. They have a hell of a schedule coming up but pulling off a big victory last week has given them the chance they needed to cap off a great story. Two division games down, at 1/1/0 in the division they have four more to go. If they can find themselves 5/1/0 in the division they'll be turning some heads come postseason. The only question is can they do it?
LilShupeScoresBIGPoints Remaining Schedule vs. Evolution, vs. BroncosTillDeath, @ Evolution, @ PURPLEHAZE
Week 11 Opponent: Evolution So in a week where they have to win in a division where you can't afford to lose in, LilShupeScoresBIGPoints will play host to Evolution a fair weather team who isn't used to the cold climate. With Wentz having to learn this offense and no Stafford at the helm I suspect a very good day for LilShupeScoresBIGPoints. If they're able to cap off two big division victories back-to-back they'll the confidence to possibly take the series against BroncosTillDeath and Evolution with such a quick turn around. The schedule makers weren't being kind to LilShupeScoresBIGPoints when making the schedule but if they can pull this off it'll be something that is talked about for quite some time. It started last week but it's got to continue this week. Can it? Guess we'll find out.
