Imma just say something after what happened today.
I understand how fucking frustrating and mentally draining it can be when someone refuses to acknowledge anything that does not support their argument. They will not even show you the basic respect of considering, or even listening to the facts that support your argument, and it’s exhausting af.
I know how fucking hard it is to walk away from situations like those, especially if it affects you directly.
That being said, dragging someone’s mental health into it, threatening them, implying that something bad will happen to them because they disagree with you… that’s terrifying and fucked up. If you stop attacking the argument and start attacking the person, it’s not gonna help you feel any better.
Calling those who disagree with you:
“Severely mentally ill”
“Ret*rded”
“Psychotic”
Saying to people:
“Please fucking kill yourself immediately.”
“Hope you fucking die a painful death :)”
“You will rot in hell for eternity I can’t wait”
“Hope you choke and die on your own vomit”
And the one that irks the fuck outta me:
“You’re going to die soon.”
Shit’s not good y’all. Sometimes you need to walk away. My mind automatically goes to worst case scenario, but what if something happened to the person on the receiving end of “kill yourself” or “you’re gonna die soon”? Whoever sent that could be so fucked.
Today was emotional, regardless of what “side” you were on. Don’t let your emotions get in the way of saying dangerous shit.

I feel like im going crazy. Like there's this infinite loss just expanding around me. My mother drives me so crazy I can't fucking speak to her. She like has Stockholm syndrome, hearing how she speaks about my father. She won't stop calling him "daddy" to me (which I don't and never have done and I was actively discouraged from ever calling him that as a child so it's nauseating that she's doing it) and she's just so sexual with him in front of people it's so fucking terrifying and sad. I don't even get to talk to her that much and whenever I do it's "daddy this...." "daddy that..." and then some fucking shit. Like they get enjoyment out of involving me, making me uncomfortable making me feel disgusting. My mom has always treated me like her sister, like sexual competition and it's making me sick
She flipped into this kind of person a few years ago it's so crazy I feel sick to my stomach when I think of her at this point. She's a stranger to me. But she doesn't want me or my help and she doesn't care, she's, I guess, just trying to prove some very disturbing thing to me
Like, "see I can throw myself away too"

HAZBIN AND SA (+HB)
TW: SA and RAPE
THIS ITSELF DOESN'T TALK ABOUT THE SCENE! But the surrounding context.
So I really hate everything about how this has being treated. I am a SA victim and wanna talk about some stuff. If you didn't know, in episode 4 (I think) there is an exploration of Angel Dust SA, before going to do that lets see some stuff first:
She made a "cumming" joke about the song Poison (that accompanies the SA scenes)
Tumblr media
This person over here worked on HH/HB (draws r-pe/non-con)
Tumblr media
BLURRED AND CUTTED IMAGES: (Some are more or less explicit)
Tumblr media
You know, that whole thing of shipping, and drawing porn of the canonical sexual abuser with the victim?
Tumblr media
They also left this comment, under a comic where Val threatens brutal r-pe on Angel.
Tumblr media
This person also worked in/directed the scenes of Angel dust Sexual abuse in the episode. The person that ships a r-pe ship and does all this shit is the one to work in this scene?????
ALSO????
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like??????? What happen here?
Also...
Tumblr media
(The pinkie pfp person is 15 here too)
Why does Angel sexually harrases Husk non-stop (which is acknowledged by Vaggie)? Why is Moxxie SA by the succubus played for laughs? Same with Chaz or Blitz harassing him sexually or touching him without consent? Why did Stolas do so many unwanted advances towards Blitz, and that's literally the endgame couple of the show? (All of this are jokes, or by the Husk x Angel shit "ship moments"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
WHY THIS TOO?
Tumblr media
And yes you are "correct", something like Hypersexuality Trauma-should not being shamed. You are not a bad person, for dealing with this. BUT HEY, that doesn't mean you get to sexually harass people like Angel does to Husk or anyone.
Also, the problem is not having an SA victim's story. The problem is how it is treated and all the context that surrounds it. All of this above is that context! Why is so much SA jokes in Helluva? Why is that funny? You want to tell a story of SA, and anyone calling out the problems with it is deleting victims feelings and stories... YOU AND YOUR STUPID FUCKING JOKES DO THAT ALREADY. WHEN SA IS A JOKE FOR YOU, YOU ARE DIMINISHING SA AND R-PE.
There are also a lot of random fans saying that "Viv is an SA victim too"- #1 Where the fuck did she say that, cause you randomly saying that she said it doesn't mean shit. #2 DOESN'T DELETE THE WAY SA HAS BEING TREATED! THIS IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO MAKING A JOKE AS AN SA VICTIM ABOUT YOURSELF- SHE/AND OTHER IN THE TEAM ARE WRITING CHARACTERS GETTING SEXUALLY ASSAULTED AS THE JOKE. -OR NOT UNDERSTAND LEGIT POWER DYNAMICS AND THE GROSS THING THAT STOLAS DOES TO BLITZ. OR THE LITERAL "SHIP COMPILATION" THAT IS PURELY ANGEL SEXUALLY HARASSING HUSK.
"Is important to represent SA survivors stories- specially men who-" BROTHER ALL YOUR OTHER MALE CHARACTERS SEXUALLY HARRASS/ASSAULT OTHERS AS A JOKEEEE. "They are in hell" BITCH A HUMAN, A REAL PERSON WORKING ON THE SHOW WROTE hahaha Moxxie gets violated by the succubus so funny lol. IT'S NOT "LOONA IS A BAD PERSON FROM HELL THAT'S WHY SHE MADE FAT JOKES AT MOXXIE" NO IT'S WRITTEN AS IF THE SA WAS FUNNY IN ITSELF!
This is also not a scenario where there was a realization of the problems in HB with all those jokes and the harassment, so it was trying to be fixed with a serious story in hazbin. NO, THAT'S NOT IT!!!!
If there was an apology of how the sexual assault was treated in previous works! "We'll make up for it!" (the fact of that was a thing in the first place, it's still bad). That would be a little different. BUT NO, IT'S NOT! IT'S HYPOCRITICAL AND GARBAGE BULLSHIT.
I think purely by the context already given here that I think the representation it's bad. I don't feel like it comes from a good place, due to the hypocritical shit, the comments, and the artist who directed it.
We could go really back and forth with the direct scenes of the episode. BUT THIS IS ABOUT THE CONTEXT SURROUND IT rather than the scenes themselves. (Which is partly connected to the fact that it's incomplete)
Here is the scene "Tuca and Bertie". Is Bertie telling her friend of her assault. It's amazingly respectful and well written. It's not graphic, and tells the story really well.

Poor rendition of queer characters in HH and HB
Here I am again talking about queer representation in Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, this time just more generally. Because it's always a little weird to me when people claim HH/HB to have good queer representation, when in actuality most of the queer characters are either just blatant stereotypes or get mishandled somehow. And with Helluva Boss recently winning the Queertys - Web series reward I think that this is probably a pretty good time to acknowledge that kind of stuff (as people have done before).
TW: Sexual assault, R@pe (when referring to the actions of characters)
Blitzø (Pansexual): is very sexual and seen on screen multiple times either having sex or just having had sex. Pretty much fits the general stereotype of queer men always being sexual and also the stereotype of pansexuals just sleeping with everybody. Like, he literally screwed the mutual Ex of his coworkers even though he knew how much that guy hurt them.
Stolas (Gay): also mostly sexual (from how he was introduced) and he is in a pretty terrible "relationship" with Blitzø, which includes coercion, SA, Power dynamics and fetishization. Another very sex-driven queer man. Also just great proof for the people assuming that queer relationships are inherently predatory, unhealthy and never work out.
Moxxie (Bisexual): is often forced into a very feminine role because even in relationships with women, queer men always have to be pointed out to be feminine and putting a guy in a dress is funny I guess.
Fizzarolli & Asmodeus (Queer): they're actually better than a lot of the other characters here but there is still some of that uneven power dynamic going on with them and there are obvious issues with their relationship. Overall they aren't too bad though. They didn't get that much sexual focus and what they got is kinda warranted since Ozzie is the Lust demon. But there is that one scene with Fizz stepping out of his car with Dildo confetti canons (I think) and that was sorta weird, since in an episode before that they presented Crimson as being homophobic and stereotypical for assuming queer men are all obsessed with dicks. Which is just interesting because thats most of the queer men in Vivzepops stories.
Chaz (Queer): just a sexually abusive asshole because we definitely needed more predatory queer men in this show.
Sally May (Trans mtf): basically the single recognized trans character in both shows and she only had one line. After that they made fan merch for her which consisted of her in a bikini with her bulge being drawn pretty visibly (multiple times). Of course there's nothing wrong with Trans people who don't have surgery but it's just a tiny bit weird to me that fanservice merchandise is what she got reduced to, when something like that wasn't even the joke of the only line she had in the show and because she hasn't recieved any kind of focus after that.
Angel Dust (Gay): now there is a lot of stuff that could be said about Angel. On one hand he is another very sexual gay man whose screentime often just consists of sex jokes and references. On the other hand that's a big point for his character. How he tries to act confident in his sexuality when in reality it's the main source of his problems. Though he does often harass other men in the show and that's just so unnecessary. Talking about Angel mostly leads into discussing if he is good representation for SA victims or not, which is something I don't want to talk about that much because I feel like it's not my place to judge that as someone who never has experienced SA. I'm gonna say that I do find Viv's treatment of him outside of the show insensitive (with the pro-shipping, diminishing Valentino as an Abuser and general sexualization of the characters) but as far as the portrayal of him in the show goes I've heard different opinions and you should read the discussion's of actual r@pe survivors about this topic if you want to know about more about it.
Husk (Queer): I don't have anything to say about Husk. He is a very refreshing queer man in these show's and there is nothing bad about him I could think of right now.
Valentino (Queer): for him I mostly want to talk about how he is treated outside of the show which doesn't sit right with me. He is a villian in HH so it's understandable that he is gonna do effed up stuff. I also like that the show tries to make a point about how men get sexually assaulted too (wether they succeeded in that inside the show I'm not gonna judge too hard like I said). But there are a lot of people who not only sexualize him, but also his actions and his relationship to Angel and from what I know Viv never really spoke out against that. She actually interacts with people who do that stuff and I it's just kinda gross.
Vox (Queer): I also don't have a lot to say about him. He and Val are a couple so he is dating a r@pist but he is also a villain so you can't really expect more from him. Especially since he would still be interacting with a r@pist even if they weren't dating.
Alastor (Aromantic, Asexual): is obviously not interested in relationships or sex but his identity is pretty much ignored by a huge amount of the fandom. Vivzepop never say's anything about people blatantly invalidating him like that. It seems to me like she doesn't care about characters who can't be involved in shipping but still wanted to have more diversity in her show so she just called him AroAce. In Hazbin Hotel he isn't bad representation though. His sexuality is never the focus but thats fine, it's mostly just the treatment he gets outside of HH which I don't like.
Charlie (Bisexual): doesn't have a lot to her sexuality. This is something I talked about pretty lengthy in my other post, specifically about the lack of Sapphic content in both shows, so I won't go into too much detail here. Her relationship with Vaggie would probably be the best in both shows if it wasn't for the fact that they both never get the real spotlight as a couple. And there is that thing in Vivzepops stories where the women are pretty much sexless without men and that's obviously something that is generally an issue when talking about the lack of Sapphic representation (which is also a topic heavily tied to sexism). Charlie's portrayal isn't necessarily stereotypical but that's just because there is nothing to her identity in the show.
Vaggie (Lesbian): like I said I already talked about the Chaggie relationship so now I wanna focus on something I didn't even mention in that post. Her name literally being Vagina and that's apparently funny because she is a Lesbian so she obviously likes Vagina. That's just incredibly stereotypical and also excludes Trans Lesbians and Asexual Lesbians who don't want sex. The whole joke was that Adam named her that because he is obsessed with sex and he's a jerk. But her name was always Vagina even in the pilot (from what I know Adam wasn't conceived then and neither was the idea that Vaggie even is a former exterminator).
That's all the queer characters I could think of. I hope I didn't miss any.
I thought about including Millie here too. But she was also already included in my other discussion post and I still don't know if she is canonically Bisexual of if that is just a headcannon so I didn't put her here.
I'm just gonna say that i don't have a problem with queer men being sexual (or any queer person in that regard). But it's pretty much every one of her queer male characters. This is especially bad when a lot of the relationships are toxic as well.
I just think too many characters fit stereotypes and to me that isn't good queer representation. If you like the depiction of queer characters in HH or HB that's good for you and you don't have to agree with me. But you also can't really deny a lot of this stuff and you can't expect others to just be fine with bland, hurtful and sometimes even toxic representation like there is in these shows.

I have a question for the COD fandom
TW: discussion of r@pe and fetishization
Why aren't people as upset about non-con/ rape fics as they are about the pedo fic that's recent sparked controversy? To clarify, I am absolutely appalled by that fic, it's disgusting and absolutely angering that people fantasize about even the concept. On that note, so is rape. I do understand that people who have been raped do use it as a way of coping, but is writing fiction about it not, in a way, glorifying it? Even if not intending it that way, people consuming media about it gets people more and more normalized to even the concept. Rape is one of the worst things that can happen to someone, and normalizing it in fiction, even if not intending to, is glorifying it. To get off to it is just in general unbelievably concerning. I know CNC is a kink, but that is a roleplay thing. Straight up non-con fics hold no roleplay and are instead talking about actual rape. Why is it horrifying to people that someone fantasizes and writes about pedoph!lia, but rape is totally fine? (that's rhetorical, again I absolutely detest p3doph!lia, as a survivor myself and a decent human being) Normalizing it, even in fiction, is not okay. I am a survivor of rape and to see people get off to it is so absolutely appalling. I do understand using it as a coping mechanism, but why would you even condone it being fetishized/ romanticized? I am not trying to belittle or invalidate anyone's trauma in the slightest. I do understand that with trauma can come the desire to feel in control over the situation, but there's a difference between being in control and imagining and writing about being able to get out of that situation in a different way, and fetishizing it and enjoying it. Rape should NEVER be normalized, no matter how slightly. I am not one to kink shame, but if your kink is illegal, I suggest seeking help. Of course, your consumption of media is your responsibility, not saying it isn't. All I'm saying is that romanticizing trauma is disgusting and what you publicize is open to be criticized. Thank you.

There are SA survivors who approve of how e4 handled Angel Dust's SA and say that "Loser Baby" and the SA scenes resonated with them. While it would be wrong to try invalidating their feelings, would you say that the way Vivziepop handled the topic isnt objectively disrespectful?
CW: Mentions of SA.
Like I said before, I don't claim to speak for any SA survivors. Nor am I acting like an authority figure telling people how they "should" feel about the episode and its content.
The SA survivors who didn't have a problem with the episode shouldn't have their opinions discredited or invalidated.
That being said, I do think Viv handled the topic extremely poorly.
Watching Angel's r*pe scene get played off for fan service was bad enough, but having Husk tell him that he should stop feeling sorry for himself because everybody is dealing with personal shit was straight up tasteless.
Angel doesn't learn to stand up to his r*pist, he just accepts that he's in a shitty situation and that's it.
In my opinion, him "owning" the fact that he's basically Valentino's sex slave is pretty fucked up.
It's really no different to Family Guy trying to humanize Quagmire in the later seasons, as no matter what the writers of that show do, he'll always be a misogynistic r*pist.
And I'm saying this as someone who is very neutral when it comes to Family Guy.
Now, would this episode have been better if Viv and Adam weren't the ones who wrote it? I honestly don't know, as Viv would still have the final say, so I doubt much would change.

TW: sexual assault
I just need to vent. I saw a post today (and it’s been the case almost everyday this last week) of a certain Gwynriel posting about Gwyn’s SA and how she can have a sexual relationship. I know when Elriels even bridge this conversation we get destroyed and told we’re disgusting. I think there are obviously problematic takes on both sides of this and a lot of nuance. However, even when very informed people share their thoughts about this topic, that side goes into attack mode. Even when it’s sensitively handled, people get attacked. Even when it’s clearly stated nobody is saying Gwyn or survivors cannot have a healthy sexual relationship. Even when it’s stated this is just the opinion based on how Gwyn’s character is written and how challenging that book would be to write (and read) with power dynamics, etc.
Well today, I saw a post of a bigger Gwynriel saying that Gwyn is not a virgin and I am just…at a total loss. I sincerely do not know how this is not incredibly offensive, but people on the other side who say Gwyn is very traumatized and has severe concerns associated with her trauma, to the extent that this would be a highly triggering and complex book to write, are evil and offensive. How is it not extremely offensive for somebody to associate a violent sexual assault with a character not being a virgin!? R*pe is not consensual. It is not sex.
If this person is so upset and opposed to this dialogue, why discuss it all the time? Why bring this up every single day this week?
I’m sorry but it’s frustrating for us to be told we’re these evil and terrible people for saying that a character who is a survivor of sexual assault, who lives in a court-funded shelter for vulnerable women and can barely leave said shelter without 1. Permission and 2. High levels of anxiety and struggles to be around men, would have a more powerful story healing outside of sex and a man. It’s so frustrating that this is such an offensive take to them, but it’s fully acceptable to use this character’s sexual assault as a rationale for why she isn’t a virgin and can have a sexual relationship?? It’s fully acceptable to say that Gwyn is going to jump into a sexual relationship with bdsm involved when she hasn’t even expressed sexual interest in anybody? That’s acceptable?? But we’re the bad guys for pointing out Gwyn is uncomfortable around men and this would be a highly triggering book for so many actual, real-life women bc the book would have to deeply explore themes of intimacy after sexual trauma and have an on page first sexual experience after this?
Just because some people heal via sex and bdsm does not mean it would be and is healing to all people who have been through a similar experience.
There would have to be major disclaimers and trigger warnings to that book. And that’s something a lot of people just do not want to read. And that’s valid. I don’t want to read that, personally, either. And I want better for Gwyn’s character than for this to be the mechanism of her healing. For sex and a man, who witnessed this happen to her, and is in a position of authority and has power over her, to be that vessel of her healing.
Idk - it just seems like there is ownership of this topic on that side. I’ve seen posts accusing us of not being survivors when statistically we know this isn’t true and is again, insensitive. There is just so much nuance that is missed. People respond to trauma differently and some characters are written with more symptoms than others. If it’s somehow acceptable to say Gwyn isn’t a virgin (when as far as we know the only experience she has had was non-consensual), but it’s unacceptable to say her character, who is written as highly traumatized, may need more time and her healing in this regard not happen on page after the last book where we left her struggling to leave the library to go to Nesta’s mating ceremony, idk what to even say.
It really feels like some people in this fandom are absolved of accountability and can say horribly offensive things but it’s ok bc they’re gwynriels. How is that compassionate towards a character you claim to care about?
And using Rhys and Lucien as a rationale for why this is possible is just…not even a justifiable comparison. There is so much nuance to this and again, everyone recovers and responds differently. Rhys and Lucien can be around women comfortably. Rhys and Lucien can be in public spaces. Gwyn will get there, but not bc of a man. But bc of her own strength and fortitude in her recovery.
All of this nuance is why I think it would be difficult to write this story sensitively. I guess in summary, of course Gwyn can have a sexual relationship. I don’t think anybody has said otherwise, as far as I have seen. It’s the timing and nature of these spinoffs that make it difficult to give this story the justice it deserves. And I argue that there is nothing offensive about believing that. But there is something highly offensive about saying Gwyn isn’t a virgin when we know her only sexual experience to have been non-consensual.
Sorry. I needed to get that out.
I agree with everything you said, Anon. I think, overall, Gwynriels are so consumed by this ship, the overwhelming NEED for the ship to happen that they fail to see the optics of the ship.
In general, Gwyn wasn't written to be in any ship, at least as it was written in ACOSF, Gwyn wasn't written to be a LI to any many, let alone Azriel. Her whole history was made up for SJM for one purpose, to put her in the Library and make her a friend to Nesta.
This utter misunderstanding and misappropriation of her character by GAs leads to all these very charged and uncomfortable conversations. The issue isnt that she is ready or not ready, or that people in RL ready or arent ready for sexual relations -- it's that she wasn't WRITTEN as a character who was meant to be having any sex with anyone. She isn't going to be tying Azriel up with the ribbon in the Library, or having BDSM sex with him, because again, she was written as a Valkyrie and a friend to Nesta.
That's why the infamous bonus was so sexually charged in the beginning, and then completely lacking in any sexuality in the second part. The sexual potential, the attraction, the desire were firmly set up with elriel. NOT Gwynriel. That's why Azriel wouldn't touch her, that's why there is an underlining theme of him being her teacher, being an 'opponent' to overcome (aka cut the ribbon), and her not being interested in him.
It's not 'oh evil Eriels don't want Gwyn to have sex!!! because they hate women with SA!' (we've all heard this nonsense). We don't give a fuck, frankly, if Gwyn has sex. What we DO understand is how characters and interactions are written. If Elain is extremely uncomfortable with Lucien, we are not going to twist and write 50K metas about how she is secretly pining for him. Sometimes, things are stated with specific intention. Same with Gwyn and Azriel and Gwyn and men--SJM isn't going there, because it's not a place she needs to be as a writer and that's not where her story is going. The setup is Elriel. That's it. It's not us. It's the author, who didn't write Gwyn as a LI. That's it.

It appears the manic safetyism the left has mandated for the past 15 years has begun to harm their ability to report issues that generate the demand for said safetyism.
A shame, really. Media overrun by guardrails protecting people against threats that were so fleeting and phantasmal they were forgotten long ago, everyone forced to pretend that terms like "unalive" replaced "dead" organically, or at least for reasons understandable to someone, somewhere, who is not completely insane.
I saw a thing the other day--one of the slimiest forms of clickbait where someone re-posts a piece of social media on a different platform, from a bigger account, presumably reaping ad revenue off someone else's content. It was one of them "Am I the Asshole" threads from Reddit. Don't remember its content at all--those are mostly fake, anyway--but it stood out to me because the word "Control" had been censored in the headline and throughout the piece. Apparently that's bad brand association, gives people the ick in regards to whatever Chinese boner pills or Keto supplements or knockoff contraceptive devices need to be sold to keep the internet functioning.
That got me thinking about all the times you'll see a video that contains naughty words that are spoken clearly in the audio but replaced with asterisks in the captioning. I had presumed this was a simple extension of trigger warnings, people wanting to avoid getting yelled at or having their accounts suspended. It's just "being a decent fucking person," after all. Any psychologist will tell you that the profound trauma survivors suffer upon seeing the word rape in print goes away entirely if the word is spelled r*pe. Words are violence, after all. They cause hurt to vulnerable folx. Do you want to be violent? Do you realize how many people you're killing every time you speak? Just do what what we tell you, obey our ever-increasing slew of incessantly weird and petty linguistic mandates or else I'll call your boss, tell your teachers, get you fired, put you in prison, etc etc.
But taking away ad revenue? Oh no, oh shit, that's a bridge too far! Won't someone think of the click merchants?!? Weep for all the important stories that shall no longer be profitably told--the trans influencers changing our perception about public architecture through dance poetry, the brave women exposing the inherent sexism within Behtesda, Maryland public sanitation department, the bold new Alf conspiracy theory that's drivin' fans insane, the development of 6 new cocktails inspired by the third season of HBO's Arli$... all gone, beaten, washed away like tears in the rain...

Wrist band has been deleted. Trust me, i’m just as upset and disappointed as everyone else is about the situation. I’m taking it very seriously because I am a survivor of sexual assault and r*pe. I specifically remember talking to her and warning her that it wasn’t a good idea to post it. I specifically remember my first initial reaction to it and how i low-key shut down after reading it. I’m about to break out into hives from how stressed out i am. I should have tried harder to prevent it from being posted in the first place and I give my most heartfelt apology to all of the survivors out there that may have come across the story. I wish i could go back in time and fix it. I should have tried harder after knowing my initial reaction to the story.
This is not a hate post towards rae, but i am sincerely disappointed in her. And there’s not much else i can say about that right now that wouldn’t be unkind.
Don’t be surprised if you see me create a separate personal account. I’m seething with rage right now. -Nat

Saying child pornography is akin to calling r/pe "unconsentual sex". Theres been a movement to stop the dumbing down of child exploitation, its been occuring in the legal field too. I need to step back because I am personally a survivor but I hope you inform yourself more in depth. Have the day you deserve.
i hope you’re okay and i think calling cp child sexual exploitation material is the same thing because personally no one is ever hearing the words “CP” and think = consent. Most predators are sadistic and like that it’s not consent, and i think more people also know what CP is and might not know what the acronym of CSEM is. I think they are literally the same thing but i hope you are okay and safe 🫶

Hey, um, sorry, but I'm still curious. (since I've only recently just discovered this story and the game based on it)
What exactly is it about game-version Ellen that you guys don't like?
I mean I get the general gist from watching Internet Historian's explanation of the game, but I'm guessing maybe there was something he left out..?
Okay so before I get into this just a warning for some heavy stuff such as r@pe.
The game sells itself on the idea of all the survivors being terrible people with fatal flaws, Ellen however doesn’t fit this narrative. While the other characters are forced to face their wrong doings that led to their traumas, Ellen is quite literally just a victim of a crime she had not caused. Ellen was a good person, who was attacked and assaulted. She did nothing wrong. What makes it even stranger, is how the men around her are pretty much jerks from hell and she is the only one with any compassion. (That in of itself is a dangerous trope about women, “woman good, gentle, and do no wrong”)
The game also suggests that not only does she have relations with the other survivors as in the original text, but that also AM is weirdly into her (which makes no sense to his character). Even when looking at just the text Ellen falls into the hysterical woman trope, and the game also leans into this as well as throwing the whole r@pe revenge/victim, insinuating that the best way to recover from trauma related to r@pe is just to confront it and slap it in the face or something. However (likely due to the writers being men who didn’t research the topic), recovering from this type of trauma is way more complicated than this game or story could possibly handle. In lots of media, especially older media, the only struggle a woman can have is when it relates to sexuality or gender.
While yes we can argue that this is a horror game and meant to disturb, her story is less disturbing and more so frustrating and bizarre. Not particularly helped by the fact that in the game’s attempt to humanise her to the audience by giving her the literal worst experiences, IT STILL OBJECTIFIES HER. In Ted’s story, where his love for Ellen is revealed, it comes less across like that and more so as him viewing her as an object for his fantasy. “To be the great knight saving the princess”, it makes little sense. Ellen’s story has nothing to do with him, heck none of the other stories have anything to with each other, so why the heck is Ted so obsessed with her? His reason for being attracted to Ellen isn’t even that he loves her as a person and would want a life with her, she is literally the only woman in the group which just makes it so much weirder. It reminds me so much of the great Gatsby, where Gatsby doesn’t actually love Daisy, she just represents what it is that he wants. And the fact that “saving her” and sending her to heaven is the good ending just makes it so much weirder.
I am not the best person to talk about this, but generally you will find within the fandom that most people dislike her story for these reasons or more. I don’t really want to get to into it, as it’s a heavy-heavy topic, that I and many others seem to agree wasn’t handled correctly.

You should probably delete that rb of that post — Viv let a r*pe fetishist storyboard that scene, and also there’s a song calling Angel Dust a “whiny bitch loser” by someone knowing he was being drugged. There also still was not a trigger warning on the episode. As an SA victim follower of yours, it was absolutely awful
Ok with the song part, that is a total misunderstanding. Angel sang with Husk, which both of them consider themselves “losers” because of their past mistakes. Angel signed his soul to an abusive asshole, Valentino, and Husk sold his soul to Alastor who is a literal villain who will use people who makes deals with him. Husk saved Angel from being drugged and now they understand each other. Yes, there was no trigger warning for SA. I wish they had one too. I am not a survivor of any kind and I cannot speak for others. All I can say is what I saw and understood from the show. I don’t support Vizz for anything she’s done, I don’t give a crap either way. I don’t want to be known for liking this show due to its past and present controversy. I like this show cause of the main characters and some songs. Yes SA and r*pe is real and is uncomfortable especially to those who have experienced it in their life. I want it to be taken seriously and not joked about, I’m sorry that you didn’t like it and felt uncomfortable. But the show took those scenes seriously and it SHOULD NOT be romanticized. Unfollow me, block me, etc. Liking the show does not make me a bad person and it does not make me a supporter of abuse or Vizz of any kind. For this show, I separate the artist from the work.

Unfortunately modern culture turned Medusa into a symbol of r*pe culture. Women on Tiktok would get the tattoo of Medusa to imply they have been assaulted and i am like...
How did it turned out like this because of Ovid's version of Medusa?? Where they have been actual victims in greek mythology that have been through so much and people don't care about them. First and foremost Perseus mother Danae. Had her son not save her she would be assaulted by king Polydectes...
If anything people should start turning Danae into a symbol of a survivor
Yes, more emphasis on Danae please! It's good to have symbols against SA but it's completely bonkers that millions of people have the absolute wrong impression, and tattoo on them an ancient human eating monster (which would eat them too) because they have no idea they're following in inaccurate story. Aaaand they repeat this false story for more people to hear. I'm like ???

There were quite a few posts on social media in the last couple of years from Asian BL fans asking western fans (specially usamericans) to stop judging Asian dramas with Western eyes.
One of the longer threads was from someone who broke it down further. Many of their cultures had been open and accepting, then colonization came around and forced shame, misogyny and homophobia onto them until it became a part of their culture. The hypocrisy of Western viewers is how they judge Asian culture for things that the western colonizers planted in the first place. So many usamericans attempted to explain their own culture at them 🤦🏻‍♀️
I’m not Asian, and I cannot speak for them.
But I was born and raised in Mexico, which was under Spanish rule for centuries. I’m also of indigenous ancestry, and I know very well the racism ingrained in my culture, along with the shame, misogyny and homophobia that come with the standard colonizer package. The jokes made at the expense of indigenous people, designed to shame us about our ancestry. As a child in the 80s I would’ve never admitted to anyone that I was part indigenous because fingers would’ve been pointed at me, and I laughed along with the jokes. The jokes were wrong. But we all laughed because it’s what our culture had taught us to do. We were a product of colonization, and while I am working hard at rediscovering my roots, I can also look back at who I was and feel sadness that I ever made such mistakes against my own.
I’m not Thai. But I know from reading articles that r*pe culture is a big issue there. I also know homophobia is an issue, despite Thailand’s popularity as an lgbtq-friendly place.
I also know that in the years I’ve started following Thai dramas and following their actors, I have noticed more and more people have started talking about these issues.
In BL alone, plots have gone from toxic tropes to more accepting ones. Some have even used their plots as a way to raise awareness of the issues the country has and I applaud them.
I don’t know Build Jakapan from the KinnPorsche cast.
But when the news broke about the things he’d said in the past, I took a step aside so I could see them in context, as so many Asian fans have asked of us westerners in the past.
The place Thai culture was in 8 years ago, his age. He’s not the first Asian artist to have been dragged for comments they made, and many supporters have used Thai culture as the reason behind their mistakes. Many of them have done heartfelt, honest apologies. Some fans have accepted them, some have continued demanding their pound of flesh, denying these artists growth.
As an SA survivor, I can understand the comments being triggering. Triggers are very personal and what affects me, won’t affect others and viceversa. As a 🏳️‍🌈 person who has to live in the closet offline due to my environment, I can understand the anger.
At the same time, I can see his comments as the product of his culture at that time.
Were they wrong? Of course.
Should he be dragged for them 8 years later? No. People grow. He’s acknowledged the comments, his company has acknowledged them, apologies have been made. Let the matter rest and allow him to grow. He is not the same person he was when he made those comments.
A few things that pick at me:
1. People saying that he was 19-20 and should’ve known better. I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but the late teens/early 20s are a crazy time. Suddenly you’re legally old enough to do a lot of things that you couldn’t do as a teen, and for many, it’s the first time leaving home to go into the world (college, military, etc). We are not mature enough, want others to see us as “grown ups” and will say/do the stupidest shit imaginable. There’s a reason you can’t rent a car in the US until you’re 25, and young cis-gender men make a big percentage of physical rehabilitation patients. And before anyone shakes a finger at me, I'm talking about stupid choices, not acts of violence/terrorism. I'm talking about the type of mentality where diving into a pool from a 2nd/3rd floor balcony is a totally awesome plan, and nothing could go possibly wrong.
2. The fact that someone dug through 8 years of his social media posts until they found negative ones. Whoever this was really wanted their minutes of fame by dragging someone else. How convenient, that when Build's character arc develops, and with it being a less than usual relationship onscreen, suddenly things he said when he was a kid come up. With KP having been on such a long production timeline, the timing of this felt like more of a planned hit than a need for social justice.
And if it hasn't been made clear: I support Build Jakapan.

I am BEGGING my followers to stop censoring tags.
If they're censored, then they obviously will show up in the feed. Use the tag properly so folks who have it blocked won't see it. This isn't Twitter.
I don't wanna yuck anyone's yum but as a rape survivor, it'd mean the world if y'all actually TAGGED IT as such (or noncon/non-con) and not r*pe. This is the second time this week I was subjected to it when I have everything under the sun muted.
USE. THE. PROPER. TAG. DON'T CENSOR.
