Wip Word Finding Game

Hullo, @innytoes tagged me in this a couple days ago and the stars have aligned enough to let me speak on the internet so here goes!

Okay so I cannot find any sunshine. Apparently that is just not a word I use when I write. So here's a Star instead!

Julie jumped, almost falling off her stool. She whirled around to see Luke standing in the doorway with a soft smile on his face. Her face flushed. No one was supposed to hear that.

“Sorry, did I wake you up?” she asked, standing and grabbing the tablet.

“Nah I was just helping Carlos brainstorm a ghost video. Did you get anything good on there?” he asked, pointing to the device.

“What, no, I didn’t record anything,” Julie lied. “You’re on your own, rockstar boy.”

“I’ll help set it up!” Carlos jumped in eagerly. “Trapping cats is way easier than trapping ghosts.”

Julie rolled her eyes at her brother but grinned. They all had their weird lockdown fixations. Julie baked, their dad started drawing on sticky notes and leaving them everywhere, and Carlos hunted ghosts.

She snagged a grey hoodie off the back of a kitchen chair and pulled it on. It definitely belonged to one of her brothers, though god only knew which one. It dwarfed her small frame, helping shut out the chill of the morning. A glance out the window told her that Tia Victoria had already left for work, so her dad was the only parent home. And he didn’t really share his sister-in-law’s distaste for people eating on the furniture as long as nothing spilled…

Alex chuckled and took a long sip of his tea before moving over to stand between Willie’s knees. “This better?” he checked, setting the mug down beside Willie’s hip so he could wrap his arms around their waist.

“Yes,” Willie sighed contentedly, letting himself fall forward into Alex’s embrace. 

Alex chuckled and pulled them closer. “Come on, let’s get you to bed,” he murmured.

Plant

Julie wasn’t sure what to say. Her head was spinning. It felt wrong that losing the house was even possible. Sure, money had been tight this year, but how had it gotten here?

Tia Victoria stood and walked around the kitchen table to plant a kiss on the top of Julie’s head. “It’ll all be alright, you get some rest.”

Julie rose slowly. “Goodnight,” she mumbled as she headed up the stairs to her attic room.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

You guys rlly don't realise how much knowledge is still not committed to the internet. I find books all the time with stuff that is impossible to find through a search engine- most people do not put their magnum opus research online for free and the more niche a skill is the less likely you are to have people who will leak those books online. (Nevermind all the books written prior to the internet that have knowledge that is not considered "relevant" enough to digitise).

Whenever people say that we r growing up with all the world's knowledge at our fingertips...it's not necessarily true. Is the amount of knowledge online potentially infinite? Yes. Is it all knowledge? No. You will be surprised at the niche things you can discover at a local archive or library.
