Then he turned on the ice and got the handsy guys to leave, yessss!! Even though there wasn't much too it, I'm glad they got to have a little exchange ^^

The fact that she's not just thinking about how hot he is and actually registers that he's a weird lil dude works in her favor as well imo - Momo's trouble is that she's desperate to fall in love - but were there some points that kept her at a distance at first, I think it'd allow her to develop a connection more naturally...!

And of course Eita has his own life going on, with most of his attention going to Runa - as it stands, I doubt he'd be able to put a romantic partner first even if he were interested... but one problem at a time!!! For now I just want interaction of any kind.

Something I'm beginning to really like about WfM is how it does little twists on the usual character archetypes.

Miorine, the cold, princess character with an controlling father and zero personal agency is angry and bitter, constantly opening rebelling and unafraid to speak her mind. She's also a gamer and lives in a messy apartment and there's no fanfare or embarrassment there like you might see with a character trying to live up to that princess reputation. She's just a mess and it's great.

Suletta is our kindhearted and morally good protagonist who always tries to do what's right, but she's such a coward about it lol. This girl will tell you to be nice and stop fighting while her knees are knocking together with fear. And despite her best efforts to live up to her internalized moral code, she gets overwhelmed easily and doesn't have that classic shounen protagonist perseverance that we're used to seeing.

And what I like about both of them in general is how essential they both are to each other. Miorine isn't a pilot but she's made herself a pillar of support for Suletta in a way that I hardly ever see for shows with this type of dynamic. There hasn't been a conflict yet where Miorine's presence hasn't been completely necessary for Suletta's victory.

They aren't subversions or anything that drastic, I don't really think they're meant to be commentary about those archetypes either. But I think that giving them these characteristics gives them more depth and individuality.

(I like to imagine Meap was the one who broke it off and I guess he either married someone else or he is single but still says "mother-in-law" since he was so used to referring to Mitch's mom that way (that is obviously not canon, I'm just saying scenarios for fun). Mitch has obviously never gotten over it, I mean he has Meap's pinup calendar hanging inside of his ship lol so there's times when Mitch tried to win Meap back or at least have a little fun with him. Sometimes, Meap will cave and you know... Lol to Meap it's a stress fling when times get tough but Mitch falsely believes that he is a step closer to winning back his ex lover's affections).
