writeblr celebration!

it's been an incredible year for writers everywhere, and in a time when it's harder and harder to get recognition for your work, during a year that has given so much to me, i just wanted to give back and shout some people out. this is just a very, very small chunk of the writeblr pie!

first off, a huge congratulations to @ashen-crest for the explosive and incredible launch of a rival most vial. watching this go from your brainchild to the blorbos on my dash to a fully formed book to a viral sensation on indie lists and fantasy contests everywhere. it was, no question, my favorite read of the year. there is genuine magic in those pages, i am convinced. it's been magic to watch the book soar just as it deserves.

i hope the success continues to follow you in the new year!! you deserve every bit of the reward for all of your hard work. congratulations, and i can't wait to see what you come up with next!

next, @magic-is-something-we-create finished whispers, a lifechanging and deeply emotional read that i still think about 7 months later. watching you write this was inspirational and incredible to witness, you are an absolute Writing Beast. it's my favorite book of yours now. in my head, whispers is still just a concept that you'll write someday. it's crazy to remember that it's fully just. done. whoa

(go beta it for him if you have the time to read a Thick novel! you won't regret it. like i said, lifechanging) in addition, your drawings only get better and better with each one. watching how fast and how amazingly you completed each one was the best part of my week. you are a stunning artist in every way, and i wish you the best of luck in 2024 <3

@aritany, congratulations on surviving the tradpub trenches and emerging on the other side with your book!! your book is gonna be out in the world so soon! that's so cool, and so hard, and i'm so proud of you for making it through. i know your publishing career is going to be incredible.

Hi I'm making another long post talking whatever bullshit that comes to my mind because I'm insane I guess, this time it's music because I love music. I wanna say before hand, I have 0 knowledge in music so a lot of what I'm gonna describe is just my feelings

You also don't have to read through all of this, you can just listen to the music I've linked and that's enough for me :+]

Anyways I'm gonna be talking about JP songs from the early 2000s or late 1990s (Y2K?) that have this poppy, girly type energy. I'm mostly gonna talk about Serani Poji but I'll talk about other's that I've found too.

Ok so I learned that Serani Poji was originally created for SEGA's (I don't know how they keep finding banger musicians) video game called ROOMMANIA #203, which is crazy because I thought they were kind of an indie group like CAPSULE (I don't even know if that's true) or something. Anyways, a lot, if not all, of Serani Poji's songs were put in their later albums (I believe they're all in Manamoon? But there could be other albums too)

What a banger debut album. To be honest, I think the only songs I really dislike is Manamoon, but the other songs really make up for it. Like "Octopus Daughter" and "Which one of the twins ?" are so fucking GOOD. And I think "Spiral Da-Hi!" is a perfect representation of what I imagine the idealization of the future would be like? If that makes sense??? Basically like The Jetsons. Also I really like this album cover art, speaks a lot of it's era. It's other album cover is nice too I think, I know it's very simple but it takes a surprisingly a lot of thought to think about the composition/placement of text and what colors to pick and the sizes (curse you Graphic Design class)

I'll talk about One-Room Survival for a bit, I think it's their most popular album? Though, I think that's mainly because of "Pipo Pipo".

I think I like this album more than Manamoon? Or at least I think a lot of the songs here are more memorable/addicting to me (but that also may be because I spent more time listening to this album, I only listened to Serani Poji's other albums recently). "One-Room Survival" and "Where is Smiley?" are probably one of my most favorite songs in this album, especially the latter because I love humming the chorus (where is my friend Smiley????? !!!!!). Lovelabor is also really good, I love Bossa Nova type of music. Also I think this is my favorite album art out of all of Serani Poji's Discography? Maybe it's on par with Manamoons because I like it too, but something like this album in it's simplicity is really nice, and a lot of the songs kind of fit it too to be honest. Merry Go Round Jailhouse's album cover is cute too! I think they're all nice in their own way.

Uhmmm I'll talk about Ochamekan briefly since I haven't spent that much time with it

Ok admittedly I haven't heard all of the songs, but I do know that one of my favorite songs #2 Earthling Body(?)/Earth Human Body(??)/地球人のカラダ is in this album. #5 Coffee Shop at Night/夜の喫茶店 is also a really good song by virtue of it being kinda Bossa Nova (or maybe I'm just guessing that genre wrong,,,). Also I think this cover art is very cute!!! Actual blorbo

Ok that ends the Serani Poji section, I'll talk about the other albums I found and maybe mention at least 1 CAPSULE album since I've already talked about them before.

I love this album art JHNGFDJKNGDFB ANYWAYS this entire album is a lot more... Hyper? Energetic! Upbeat!! compared to the other albums I mentioned. It leans more to like, Cutie Cinema Replay/Nexus-2060 by CAPSULE. Anyways I think #2 Early Riser is such a fun song, I'd love to make an animatic or animation with it. #7 ☆ is also one of my favorites, it's very cute! The ending song "Clover" Is another favorite, I've listened to it probably the most or just as much as "Early Riser", it's very sweet and nice to listen to while doing chores.

THIS IS THE ALBUM I'VE BEEN MOST EXCITED TO TALK ABOUT. I think out of the album cover art in this post, this has to be my very top (even though you can count every pixel on here). I don't know if this counts because I only started recently liking it, but I really like this type of Y2K visuals and music? IT'S FUN IT'S CUTE IT'S EVERYTHING!! Anyways, I LOVE how all the songs transition to the next one so smoothly. My absolute favorite song here is #3 Super Speed POP☆STAR. Definitely the most listened song on this post, I'd love to make a character design based on this song!!

The songs are pretty long but that's ok, It really helps with the transitions! Also surprisingly, Plus-Tech Squeeze Box has made a remix for them! I think I prefer the original but I love the title "go go EGG mix", that's so fucking silly behavior, let's be whimsical!!

OK so a break, I'll be talking about 2 more albums which are personal favorites. The ones above are a lot more recent albums I've listened to (excluding One-Room Survival) but these last 2 are ones I've had a lot more time with.

Second last album I'll talk about is from CAPSULE, which is the only band here that still makes music to this day I believe? Which makes me really sad, but it makes a lot of the albums here valuable/important, as they're a really good product of their time.

Capsule – L.D.K. Lounge Designers Killer

A Flying City Plan(?)/空飛ぶ都市計画 is such a great starting song. I really wanted to use it for my Frye Splatfest art for Team Aliens, but I went with the Nexus-2060 song "Space Station No. 9" since I think it and the album itself fit more with the "aliens" theme. Anyways, I believe this album is the most latest one on this post? That's ok, I'll give a pass to CAPSULE any time of my life. A lot of the songs here are more chill, very loungy LOL

Also same as always, I love all of the songs in here, I mean it's CAPSULE. It'd be easier to say which songs are the weaker ones for me, which is #3 Lounge Designers Killer (how come the title tracks are the ones to kinda fall off...), and #4 Twinkle Twinkle Poppp! But not because it's a bad song, I just think it's kind of out of place in this album?? Whatever I still like it, anyways #5 TIC TAC and #1 A Flying City Plan are my most favorite songs in this album. Also the little ending song is very sweet :+] <3

LAST THING TO SAY ABOUT THIS ALBUM, #9 do do pi do reminds me. A lot of Tunak Tunak Tun. and it's driving me kind of crazy because I don't know if anyone else also hears it.

Last album is an album I've listened to the most and one I've heard since I was 12. Maybe my most favorite album ever??

NAGISA COSMETIC by NAGISA COSMETIC

I am so... Distraught that they only released one album, because I think they've captured cuteness so perfectly?? NAGISA COSMETIC is a duo consisting of a model and designer, Ichikawa Nagisa and the other half of CAPSULE, producer Nakata Yasutaka. I can't express how much this album means so much to me, like I made my first animation to one of the songs here (#6 retort). I LOVE THIS ALBUMMMMMMMMM, and how I found it was through... OSU 😭 whoever mapped Cosmetic Happy, I love you, you changed my life.

TTRPG OC names and their meanings

inspired by @sylvienerevarine, meanings taken from behindthename

I don't think I need to say much about Perseus, my beloved Blorbo Bingus. He was a templar in a homebrew D&D 5e campaign setting called Turrillium Tales, with his final multiclass being Bloodhunter/Cleric!

Eren is one of my currently played characters being part of a homebrew D&D 5e isekai campaign. I love them so much, they're such a rat bastard who causes problems on purpose. Currently their class is Bard with a level of Fighter.

Allyn was a character for a one-shot in Turrillium where chances of survival were very slim. And yeah, they didn't survive. I think they were an Artificer Warlock, playing them as a sniper which was really weird and fun.

Cassian was a wizard and my first evil character ever, playing in a homebrew D&D 5e setting called the Iron Cities. He eventually ended up in the hands of the DM after I clicked that the entity we faced was the Hungry Prince and had Cassian immediately switch sides. The DM was shocked I'd made the connection so quickly (literally within the first minute). He underestimated how much of a lore-whore I am :3

Matthieu is a Pathfinder 2e character I'll be playing soon, hopefully! I have successfully made a character that half the players are simping for, which I'm very proud of. He's a changeling swashbuckler who can do no wrong despite his past murder.

Orion was a character for a D&D campaign that survived only one session which I'M DEFINITELY NOT UPSET ABOUT, NO, NOPE, DEFINITELY NOT. I wrote a lot of lore and backstory for her but it was all super specific to that homebrew setting so I don't think I'll get to play her again without some major revamping. She was a druid of the stars!

Baine was another Turrillium character for a side campaign. She was a weird Monk/Cleric multiclass based on healing as much as possible. She made the other party members do impromptu art therapy.

Morrigan is another character I'm currently playing in a magical school setting! She's very sweet and vulnerable to peer pressure. She got sent to the tornado zone three times in a row and she did not like it at all.

Ataraxis was originally made for a Curse of Strahd campaign that died after one session and a few years later, I was able to bring them back to hop into another campaign! They were a paladin/bard multiclass. Sea shanty paladin!!!! Also the second of my characters to have a threesome???????

Natela was a character for a two-shot in the same setting as Eren. It was very fun playing as someone from the world, rather than someone who got isekai-ed into it. She was a bard and a delightful little bastard.

I play a lot of bards and a lot of bastards, I'm sorry :(

Cyrus Hawke Playlist ~ Top 5 + 3 Ship Songs

I started drafting this post in fucking July, but now I'm awake at 7am with a sore throat and need the serotonin boost SO here we go!!

Also I made most of this playlist with DA2!Cyrus in mind, but many of its core themes hold across the (/counts on my fingers real quick/) five(?) distinct iterations of this character (why am i like this...).

1. It Keeps Us Dancing - The Family Crest

You know those blorbo songs that come with incredibly detailed line-by-line, shot-by-shot AMVs? I could describe in overwrought detail the images and moments that play in my mind when I listen to this, but I'll spare y'all that.

Big picture is that this is a song about not merely surviving but thriving through the bonds you form with others. I first encountered it in a Mighty Nein AMV, and unsurprisingly it maps beautifully onto another group of tragedy-stricken misfits. As much as it's a Cyrus song, then, it's also a Kirkwall Crew song. It's about the levity and respite he finds with them-- the strength to keep on moving, to keep dancing, despite everything the world subjects him to.

2. One Foot in Front of the Other - Emilie Autumn

A lot of Cyrus' song hit on survival, actually. The ability to endure--and the profound price of that resilience--are fundamental parts of his character and story. If for nothing else, this song gets a mention for the line if ive no one to fight, how do i know who i am? Who is Cyrus if not the Champion, if not his oath, his shield, his sword, if not the knight in shining armor come to save everyone but himself? What is he good for if not bleeding so someone else doesn't have to?

Also the last verse is a huge end of Act 3 mood: we've won the final round, but how to enjoy the win / when we've been broken down and we'll never know what could have been / heaven help us where do we begin? Allying with the mages at the end of DA2, as we all know, produces an immensely fucking hollow victory: you can't save anyone or anything, you only just barely save yourself and your family, and it's only at the mercy of Cullen fucking Rutherford.

And the line we'll never know what could have been hits particularly hard for Cyrus killing Anders-- or maybe it just hits hard for me because I do know what could've been between them. What is between them in a timeline where Cyrus doesn't make that choice, even if Anders still asks for it.

But in the canon timeline, where Cyrus is dragging all the dead weight of Kirkwall and Anders around his neck, how does he continue on after losing everything? By putting one foot in front of the other.

3. Simmer - Hayley Williams

What are you gonna do with that big bat? Gonna hit me? Better make it count. Better make it hurt. Better kill me in one shot

4. Into the West - Return of the King Soundtrack

Cyrus' victories are few and far between and fiercely fought and dearly paid for. Such is the nature of the tragedy he finds himself written into-- such is his propensity for self-sacrifice and inclinations toward martyrdom.

But somehow, miraculously, he makes it out of Kirkwall alive. And whatever that may have cost him, he's earned his sense of respite and safety. Peace, in whatever small measure he and his loved ones can manage.

5. Francesca

I cannot emphasize enough: this is it. This is the whole character. The intense, cosmologically defiant love, the endurance, the insistence that I would do it again. I'd go through it again. All the loss and suffering, all the ways his body has been harmed and changed, to love and to be loved in return matters more.

Even the verses are so delightfully appropriate for him-- my life was a storm since i was born / how could i fear any hurricane? My boy is sooooooo storm coded, all that strength and willingness to stand in the face of anything...

And then the second verse, losing parts of himself and his body to the trials life subjects him to, be it his asymptotic approach to Tranquility and Kirkwall's jaw clenched around his lifeblood or having his grief preyed on and stolen to forge him into a weapon of pure misery.............................. but if i could hold you for a minute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And, of course, some songs for some loves that heaven is not fit to house:

1. CyrusXVarric: Anything For You - Ludo

This is just such a universal VarricXHawke song. I mean, it's about a grandstanding storyteller whose highest, most singular devotion is to the person he loves! Come on!!

Then again, even my happier song picks aren't without their touch of angst-- the best story that Varric could ever tell (the one where am i growing old with you) isn't one he gets to experience. Not, at least, in the main timeline where Cyrus becomes Inquisitor and Varric sacrifices himself to save him in the final fight against Corypheus.

2. CyrusXAnders: Unknown/Nth - Hozier

I told myself I could only put one other Hozier song in this post, and while I was sorely tempted by some for Cyrus & Karlach, the honor really had to go to Unknown/Nth and the most disastrous ship of the fleet.

What is there to say other than that the bridge of this song permanently rewired my brain? 'the injury of finally knowing you' was the title of their WIP for a while-- the agony of learning and experiencing each other as intimately as they do only for everything to come crashing down around the very next day, as their own intractable issues and flaws begin to grind together again? Ugh......

And of course there's the weight of the goodness Anders still carries for Cyrus into Act 3. All the deceit, all the manipulation, all the hurt... it's because of that goodness, right? It's to protect him. It's all for love.

At least, that's what Anders tells himself.

3. CyrusXKarlach: Inkpot Gods - The Amazing Devil

and i can hear her sing / and i know she's giving up / and i don't know what to do, how to help her / how to bring her home

15 Questions, 15 Mutuals

Tagged by @andromedaexists! It's cool your names have connections to family and saints, and that you've tried so many things/sports. Your cats sound adorable (though this goes without saying for cats perhaps).

As for myself:

1. Are you named after anyone? Yes! My mom wanted to give me a "hippie" name like Freedom or Windsong or something, but my dad would have none of it. In one of their rare instances of compromise, they settled on naming me after a folk/pop singer who was big in the 70s. If I decide to change it at some point, I'll probably choose something very similar in spelling/sound.

2. When was the last time you cried? Like two days ago while thinking about a scene where a character experiences Gender Thoughts (positive). And the day before that while listening to talks on medieval history about humans being humans. Then last weekend, while watching Puss In Boots with my partner. Look, it's not outright sobbing and tears, but I do mist up a lot, okay? For someone who had to numb their emotions to survive much of their childhood and teen years, I appreciate this actually. That despite whatever pain I've experienced it couldn't stop me from recognizing and overflowing at the pleasure and beauty all around me.

3. Do you have kids? No, and no plans to. I'm content with my affection for the children of others in my life.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot? I think so? I definitely used to, though I think I've cut back on it significantly.

5. What’s the first thing you notice about people? The way they speak and how they communicate in general. Accents, idioms, whether they're confident (and if that confidence is bravado or well-founded), is their choice of words vibe-based or definition-based, etc. I'll recognize someone's voice before their face tbh. 😅

6. What’s your eye color? Brown. I get compliments on them.

7. Scary movies or happy endings? Both? Depends on my mood. I always love a "hard-earned happy ending", though. Those Situations really did a number on my blorbos, but they kept on keeping on. That sort of thing.

8. Any special talents? Defying expectations, I guess? I often apply for jobs/sign up for experiences where the people in charge just go, Um, are you sure you're supposed to be here? And I'm like, Sure, why not, let's go. Then I do pretty well at whatever it is and they're impressed, mostly because they thought I couldn't/wouldn't stick around. People also seem to generally like my baking.

9. Where were you born? Northern California, USA.

10. What are your hobbies? Writing, reading, little art projects, video games, gardening, baking, thinking too much, harassing various invertebrates, sea creatures, and neighborhood animals with my affection/fascination

11. Have you any pets? A cat named Mimi! She was a stray I agreed to adopt from a friend on Discord while drunk. This remains my best decision made while under the influence.

12. What sports do you play/have played? I did martial arts for the last seven years, including fighting in like 4 tournaments. I put it aside since college takes a lot of my energy now. Also, training is expensive, and the culture around it sucks pretty often. I'd like to get back into it one day, just with people who value it for reasons similar to mine.

13. How tall are you? 5' 8". I'm too American to be measured in cm (joke joke this is a joke the metric system and I are buds).

14. Favorite subject in school? Before college, lit/reading. As an adult, I really enjoy history and anthropology related stuff too.

15. Dream job? Making a living off my silly little gay vampire stories. But I'd settle for translating fiction between Spanish and English.

🪦 if you had to turn one of your fics into MCD which one would you chose?

Oh gosh, killing one of my precious blorbos? That is a tough question.

So the recently written Electric Connection I left firmly in pre-canon or 'canon? what canon?' territory. But I actually did, very briefly, consider writing it up to that fateful night where the accelerator blew up before deciding that was very much not the vibe I wanted and also Farooq deserves happiness.

But if I'd been aiming for angsty? I would have turned the already painful in hindsight scene from Power Outage into a gut punch. These three people so in love and happy and it's shown how they got there, but then ending with the canon scene of Jake and Daria surviving the explosion fine, having gotten into the car just barely in time. But Farooq is hurt and down and of course they go to help him. They love him.

And that's what gets them killed.

... yeah that was a lot of angst with no comfort. I just couldn't go there. But I could pretty easily if I had to.

😡which fic did the characters control the most (like you wrote a whole ass plan AND THEY DECIDED TO FUCK IT UP)?

Scientific Method for sure, I complained about this happening in the notes for that story. It was just supposed to be this cute story about Barry being Oliver's date to the party instead of Felicity's with a little reworking of the surrounding two-parter, but then I was like 'oh and Tommy is alive' and Tommy being alive turned the story into five chapters of Oliver getting to be in a healthier place than in canon.

In fact, directly from my notes for the first chapter - "This started off as Barry being Oliver's plus one to the party instead of Felicity's. Tommy popped up in the background, waved for my attention, and said 'what if we fixed season 2 and added plot? wouldn't that be cool???' And I listened... (why did I listen????)"

Anyway, plot happened and then it got spin off one-shots and eventually there's going to be another multi-chapter entry covering New Years shenanigans in Starling and another one covering Barry getting struck by lightning in Central City. (Oliver's year not off to a good start with boyfriend now in coma. Poor guy.)

do u have any hopes/ideas for what re9 might be or what u want it to be? personally i think they’ll stick with the bsaa plotline and pick up right after re8 but i really really want it to be a jill (or claire or both) led game. love chris but we’ve seen enough of him as a main recently. and idk if i’d actually want them to do it because it’s hard to believe capcom would do it well but it would be cool to use it as an opportunity to bring back some older side characters (sheva, carlos) and show us what leon’s been up to since 6/vendetta and kind of making it a the only people we can trust are people who have been through this shit with us kind of thing. idk. very rudimentary ideas. also i’m a little tired of the mold so i hope they go back to regular zombies/run with the reanimated corpses as soldiers thing they showed at the end of 8.

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond to this! Needed time to like, sit down and think about it and type out my legit thoughts.

Anyway tbh I really hope they do pick up with the "BSAA is corrupt" plotline because that massive loose thread was basically taken out back and executed when it came to the Shadows of Rose DLC (probably because the people who made it had no idea what story they were meant to be continuing). I love Chris too and while I agree that we've had enough of this man already, imo he would be the best character to follow if this is the plot we're going with. Cuz for the BSAA who are actual notable (aka Marketable) characters we could follow?

Rebecca? Sure, but she's a doctor, and very much not an agent. Remember, this has to be a video game. Could potentially utilize her unfamiliarity with being an agent as an avenue for horror with her being thrust into survival, but idk

Jill? Yeah, I would love to see Jill again. But like, personally, Capcom has to tread VERY lightly about where Jill has been this whole time. Because (timeline-wise) it's been 12 years since her rescue, and we haven't heard shit despite massively important things going on in her world. I would love another Chris/Jill team up though for 9, kind of a return to familiarity

Sheva? Probably not, she's part of the African branch, isn't exactly in the picture. I love her, but Capcom doesn't seem to

Barry? He's not as recognizable imo, at least compared to the other og re characters like the main 4. I'd love to see him again, but idk, a LOT of people really really want Natalia to be a villain for some reason, and I feel like Barry being there might be a catalyst for that, and I really really don't want Natalia to be a villain

Hound Wolf Squad? Listen. Y'all know me, I LOVE these guys, HWS are my blorbos from 8 and I put way too much thought into them. If we were to pick up with the "BSAA is corrupt" plotline I do honestly think it should focus on Chris and his team. That being said, I don't think Capcom is going to do that given how much they were snubbed of any development or cohesive narrative in 8 and Shadows of Rose. I want it, it makes sense, but Capcom is stupid and I don't think they'll go in that direction

Bonus: Claire? I want so badly to see a Redfield team up again. It pains me that CV is all we have. And I think the leader of a humanitarian group would be a great foe for the corrupt military organization. I would love if they worked together, I miss it dearly

All that being said, I don't know if this is the plotline we'll follow. 8 was done as a cash grab imo, I can elaborate why I feel that way if y'all want, but basically, they don't (and honestly never really have) cared about themes and storytelling and being creative in a way that makes sense in the world that they built. They care about making money by scaring the player. That's it

Okay here’s the Ultimate Blorbo Darth Maul Backstory Speedrun: basically he was born to a powerful witch on the planet Dathomir where there’s a lot of segregation (yikes) and interesting tribal dynamics; he gets stolen by Darth Sidious aka Palpatine (because Palpatine is weird rivals with Maul’s mom), and is raised/groomed/ abused to be the perfect assassin & Sith Lord apprentice. Then at 22 years old (tragic, should’ve been at the club), during a battle with Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn (who he kills) and Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi, he is cut in half at the waist by Kenobi and thrown down a garbage chute. He SURVIVES THIS on sheer willpower and Sith rage alone, and spends the next 12-ish years descending into complete madness and Kenobi-fueled desire for revenge on a far-removed landfill planet. It’s here he builds himself spider legs out of literal trash and scrap and terrorizes the local fauna. A regular old Shelob (LOTR reference ba um tss). Then he’s rescued by his biological brother, Savage Opress (who’d been tasked with this by their manipulative mom), who brings him back to Dathomir to be “healed” by their witch mother. He’s now got a swanky new pair of robo legs, his insanity is “cured”, and he runs around shirtless for the foreseeable future. This takes place during the Clone Wars so lots of Clone Wars stuff goes on in the meanwhile. Eventually Maul and Savage overtake the planet of Mandalore (where the Mandalorians are from) and Maul becomes the Mand’alore (the king basically. Oh and he’s wearing clothes now womp womp). During this time a lot of stuff happens: they create a crime syndicate, Palpatine tries to cast aside and kill Maul (seeing as he’d replaced him twice by this point), Savage is murdered, and eventually after plot conflicts Maul is chased off Mandalore. Then Order 66 happens and the rise of the Empire and, with the rest of the surviving Force-users, he fades away to avoid detection. Here’s where my knowledge gets slightly hazy because the tail end of his story makes me sad and I Don’t Perceive It + I haven’t watched Rebels in its entirety: Maul joins up with the crime syndicate Crimson Dawn and ends up ruling it from the shadows, does this for another decade-ish, then fades into obscurity some time in his late 40s/ early 50s to dodge the still-rampant anti-Force sentiments in the Empire. He resurfaces again to pester this “post-Jedi Order” Force-sensitive kid, Ezra, and seems to have mellowed out greatly since his time as a ruthless Sith Lord (probably due to LITERALLY NEVER CATCHING A BREAK EVER). He confronts his long-time rival and the man who he sees as having ruined his life, Kenobi (he screams and rants and raves about him a lot, it’s pretty entertaining, if sad) one last time on Tatooine, is bested in battle, and kinda gives up and dies. Which is a mood, but yeah. Kenobi, who has been tolerating this guy’s feral insanity and hatred for him for decades, gives him an honorable Jedi funeral and burns his body, and I cry if I think too much about that! 😁 His story is rife with tragedy and violence and I doubt he’s ever happy except in the company of his brother who he fails to save, and he’s never loved or been shown love in canon and it’s heartbreaking because his entire life is a hurricane of abuse and misery and never getting his way and never being loved except by the one person he cares about but can’t save AGHHHHHHJJH

On to why I love Rogue One before I spontaneously combust: visually, it is PHENOMENAL! The characters (though I can’t name a majority of them) are easy to love and root for, and at its core it’s a story about the everyday little people who make big sacrifices along the way. It follows several people on their mission to retrieve the information that holds the plans to destroy the Death Star, to be delivered to the Rebellion, and each and every one of them dies in the process— yes even the main characters. It is a modern tragedy and you know when you start it there’s only one way it can end, and I hate to admit it makes me cry before the opening scene even begins to play. Not even joking, last time i watched I was sobbing at a black screen. Plus Mads Mikkelsen is in it 🫣 It isn’t necessarily my favorite, but that spot is taken by The Phantom Menace, but I def think it’s the most well-done Star Wars movie

X reduced 10 years from my lifespan. I just, love it so much ❤

Blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most): Subaru is all time fave. I adore how complex he is and how much he changed during TB and X. I have to stop here otherwise I'll never shut up about him. Also the more he suffers the more beautiful he gets. That's apparently Clamp's axiom, because look at Fai and Kamui. Yue is the only one who got away with it angst free. Also got angel wings as a bonus, and a caring bf. Kamui also got wings but bat ones. About bf.... yea. Nowdays I sometimes think about Kamui and Fuuma, mostly because I'm trying to figure out what sort of tragedy was going on there. The more I think about theories the more catastrophical it gets. No way X ending would be Disney one, probably so brutal we collectively would never recover.

Scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped): there is no sin free character in X. Closest we can get is Yuzuriha, god forbid something actually happened to her. And Inuki ofc, i always wanted a real dog like husky but got stuck up with cat-alike toy poodle. I adore Arashi too. Kotori as well, how is her hair curly naturally like that? Rly cute girl such terrible fate but then again if she survived and saw what her brother turned antichrist did to her middle school crush she'd be climbing back up that cross herself. Karen is so shaped character tho, beautiful fire women with pure heart, god bless 👀🙏🔥 women in this series of disaster gays are a blessing

Scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave): okay X is not only sort of underground stuff but also 30 years old so I'd say all characters except Seishirou, Subaru and Kamui are underrated to some degree. Especially Sorata, Arashi and Fuuma since they're main cast too. Those two are actually my fav mlw clamp couple. I hope they'd get 'happy' ending but they already have the 'original sin' of X (losing sight of yourself due to love for other, sacrificing yourself somehow thus hurting loved one in process), so I doubt that would happen. Fuuma tho, he's such an intresting and complex 'antagonist' to explore and hot but I rarely see people talking about him. Also from the rest I rly like Karen, Yuzuriha and Nataku in that last chapter with Karen (that "I was never treated as human being" conection between them got to me okay? ;-;). Also I once included Yuuto as bypass character in fic so he kinda grew up on me since then, even if there's not much to his character.

Glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week): literally Seishirou but not solely because I adore him, but because he'd either do some weird stuff like chilling on top of churches while stalking people or cringe like disappearing as sakura petals to impress (Subaru was, Kamui wasn't in slightest. You know who is more objective there) or meme worthy like being kinkshamed by Fuuma. " There's nothing between me and Subaru-kun, we just made a foolish bet long time ago" - yea sure, wait till Fuuma plucks his eye out, what about then?

Poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave): Seishirou invented problematic faves and Fuuma joined in step. Kamui from beginning of series is poor little meow meow, he hisses at like.... everyone and then destroys a building, all in manga's first chap while there are bishonen sparkles in the background. If it weren't for Arashi he would have killed a guy back then. He was even like "where are you taking my prey?" at her. What are you, a vampire? Nevermind, wrong series. Then he softened but at cost of Clamp torturing him. Also the potential Sakurazukamori!Subaru has as fave that does atrocities because he's forced to but at same time totally isn't - it's unparalleled.

Horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason): I dont even have to choose a character, Clamp already tortures all of then for fun. Nobody is spared, they even made Keiichi suffer by killing his family and his one-sided crush on Kamui. Sorry Keiichi try rougher approach next time. So I'd say Subaru since he hasn't had a hour of happiness in a decade or Kamui cuz... well whole X, but there's a special brand of "hehehe so much for indifferent now huh?" in making Seishirou "I have no emotions, breaking a glass cup, your arm, what's the difference?" Sakurazuka catch feelings after so long and going from 😎 to 💀 ( and then ☠ quiet literally, what an icon)

Eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell): I'm sending Seishirou to superhell for everything he did but also for going around in public like this:

If I ran into this on street, I wouldn't cross to the other side of street, I'd move to other side of country.

Also let's send Kakyou and Hinoto to superhell for being cryptic, poetic and never straightforward enough to say things like "yooo Kamui if you do that and that, this and that would happen. Boy look in the attic for your common sense it's gotta be somewhere". Kamui would pack his trauma and bolt out of Tokyo first morning train and we wouldn't be here on 19 years hiatus. And 30 years worth of trauma.

4. How do you choose which fics to write?

In the past, I'd just do whatever I felt like but I'd end up with a bunch unfinished/abandoned. Now I'm focused on the one that makes me happiest, with side stories that follow the rule of "this makes me happy to think/write about" and that I know I won't lose motivation on.

20. Do you prefer writing AUs or canon fics?

It's hard because with my OCs, I prefer writing canon fics but with not my OCs, I prefer AUs or canon divergent fics.

6. What's the last line you wrote?

Turns out it's a piece of dialogue,

"If I'm to have any chance of survival, I have no choice but to stick with the group and when you're snapped up in its jaws, I'll only be able to say I told you so."

20. What are your favourite fics at the moment?

For ones I've written, that would be my current longfic I'm working on, bury me in the garden, lay me where i am loved, because it's something that actively is making me feel joy as I play Arielle and write about her.

Otherwise, it would be Rook, Bishop, Pawn which I wrote in 2021 about Perseus and is one of my proudest fics I've written. I think it's a really good look into his inner thoughts throughout the campaign and encapsulates who and what he was about perfectly. I still love Perseus as a character/oc/blorbo so much and love talking about him at any opportunity. I really want to write about him more too, I just haven't decided what form that'd be in 😭
