Bit worried about Ashlyn Harris actually

Aside from all the drama that's been going on lately, I've got to confess that for the past few months (or years?) I've been wondering what the hell is up with this woman.

I was such a huge fan back when she was just this Satellite Beach goalkeeper with a humble head and the love for skate-boarding and surfing and you know, family & friends first and her work with To Write Love on Her Arms. And I get people change and that none of us ever really knew her, but I've seen I'm not the only one who can't believe what she's turned into. Like, can we recognise her any more? Or was the completely playing out to be an entirely different person ten years ago?

I think it started when she came out with Ali and suddenly she was like, this attention-seeking, uncomfortably loud (as in literally screaming) person with the weird, rather cringey fashion, only talking about gay things and nothing else, behaving like the complete soccer start that to be entirely fair she wasn't... Even on her wedding video I couldn't believe that Ashlyn was the same Ashlyn of 2011, 2012, 2013... It's not even that many years to change so much, let alone in your thirties. It's like there were no remnants of the surfer, the skate-boarder, the humble butch from a small town who valued the little things... Like she was adamant on transforming into this massively public, loud, "fashionable (?)" celebrity. Even when giving interviews she was expressing herself like she had no intellect any more, you know like male footballers speak, like it's all looks and no brain, no sign of the person who got a uni degree and who gave an amazing mental health talk with TWLOHA years back.

And then when they were celebrating the WC, I was thinking, since when is she this loud and arrogant? Since when is she so attention-seeking? When did she turn into this whole other person who makes such a huge effort to ignore her lack of National Team performances and pretend like she deserved her world cup as much as Ali or Pinoe? I get subs deserve the medal and all too, I mean, they made it so far and if they weren't there training with the rest, the rest wouldn't be as good. You're only as good as the worst of you, after all. But none of the others was bragging so loudly and calling themselves x2 champions so much without having played a minute of those games, were they? Even Alyssa Naeher doesn't have world cup champion in her profiles, nor does AD Franch, nor PINOE, but you know who does? Hope Solo. And you don't want to have THAT personality. I feel like when you're confident on your victories, you don't need to brag, everyone knows who you are, your work speaks for itself.

What worries me about AH (sit down here comes my Psychology Grad analysis) is that in the past few years she's been more and more behaving like someone with no self-esteem, who's desperately afraid of being forgotten and needing to shout left and right look at me! i'm a champion! I'm a soccer star! And then she stopped getting called up for the USWNT, got stuck in the Pride (and I love them but bunch of losers tbh), and all she had left was Ali. And then Ali's doing better than she is. And then Ashlyn gets these horrible injuries and that's story of her life (injuries effed her up from day 1 and seriously impacted her career) and she's forced into an abrupt retirement with no glory.

And then emerges this Ashlyn who only cares about rubbing elbows with celebs, who believes herself to be some fashion mogul (that's all she's got left) and who is deeply satisfied with how her life turned out to be and how she's ended up being nothing but a footnote in the history of American women's soccer, specially compared to her wife. We know they've had issues for a while, that has been hinted at before, and I can only imagine there must've been a growing resentment/bitterness towards Ali because she gets everything Ashlyn won't in terms of soccer. In fact it seems to me (and maybe it's just me), that she seems to be ferociously resentful to soccer in general, like, suddenly she wants nothing to do with it and wants to pretend like soccer is not a big deal. How many times as she stated quite firmly that she's now happiest she's ever been and acted almost as if soccer was actually holding her back? as if her soccer career is nothing compared with what she has now, when we know it isn't true, because she still feels the need to remind us she's a twice world cup champion all the time?

So from a psychology point of view I think she's very bitter, very hurt, very pissed off, very resentful, that she hasn't processed her forced retirement and her not so good soccer career in a healthy way, and so she has to pretend like she's super happy and better than she was before so as not to look like the failure she feels she is. She has to use social media all the time and brag about the celebrities she's meeting, the trips she's going in... She's got nothing else but to pretend she's still as successful as all her friends she has to constantly see in social media showing off with the accomplishments she wishes she had. It's the classic game of getting depressed comparing yourself to others so you take to social media to constantly pretend you're as good as them or better, we all do it. And she's gone, in my humble opinion, off the rails, she's unrecognaisable, and if she has really had an affair and hurt Ali this big, as rumours have it, then that only strengthens my opinion. Like, I wouldn't be surprised if she's abusing substances again, if she's in some spiral downhill as it looks like. And what's Ali going to do? She can't focus on looking after her, she's got work, she's got two small kids, at this age Ashlyn needs to see she needs help and seek it on her own, not expect Ali to mother her.

That's part of why I really don't like people going on and insulting her left and right, because we really don't know what's going on, but to me it seems like when someone's not well, when someone's spiralling, they start to really go off and the first people to get hurt are those closest to her. And we must remember she is a human being, even if she makes mistakes, even if she does bad things (IF she has), and she doesn't deserve billions of people judging her and making her life miserable. And none of us would like it in our consciences if she actually is struggling with her mental health and gets worse because of generalised mass bullying. She's still Sloane and Ocean's mother, and they probably love her very much, and Ali's probably struggling a lot, so we need to remember supporting one person does not have to mean stooping so low as to have to become horrible bullies. Let's stay human, y'all.

You had never met a many so annoying yet tempting as the one before you. However, your stubbornness was a strength, so you knew you could play that game.

You had received an array of gifts and praises for your culinary feats. You had awards, interviews, glowing reviews in multiple restaurants. You were sent wines, knives, and books.

You stayed humble as you knew some celebs and politicians on a first-name basis since they were regulars and knew that the attention could bring both good and bad.

You had expected your ego to come and slap you in the face. All people tried to lure you in and trap you. It'd be a normal descent from success.

Instead, after service that you thought was normal, one Doflamingo Donquixote was asking for your number offering a job in the private sector as well as inviting you on a date. You graciously declined. You thought that'd be it.

It was not.

Because even though there was a three month wait list for your restaurant, you went out to a nearly-deserted dining room where only Doflamingo sat glancing at the menu and sipping the priciest wine.

"I thought that work had been your excuse. I can take you somewhere far from this, and you won't have to worry about the finances of your business." He was a mad man. A rich one, your business partner corrected, but you ignored him again.

Doflamingo bought the restaurant out for a week, and when you stopped going to the dining room after day three, he was shocked at where he found you.

You were all smiles and rainbows serving the less-fortunate at a local soup kitchen. You laughed when you saw the filthy rich man decked out in suits and jewelry standing in the less than stellar facilities. When you were done, he asked you why you were there instead of resting at home or something. "I live to feed people." was all you said.

Doflamingo stopped buying out the restaurant, but still floated in and around before and after business hours. You ignored him while you directed your cooks and tested recipes. Doflamingo admired the structure silently and wondered how far you would have ended up if you were in the corporate world. The skills were definitely transferrable.

You nearly lost it when the man bumped into your china--shattering it again--and brushed it off with a check. You knew replacements would be there by morning, but that wasn't the point. "Stop being so wasteful." So to get him out of your space, you let him take you out. You could hold up against fancy meals and shopping sprees.

You were not expecting an intimate setting in one of his homes where he cooked you his mother's favorite meal--the only thing he could make. You knew about the man's harshness, how he ran businesses. And while the food was delicious, you would never admit it.

"Too much salt." was all you said even after you cleaned your plate. You were stubborn to say things like him, but if he noticed that you stopped by his place to cook and gave him basic lessons, then he never said anything either.

You just ended up with a rich man ready for your call--a partner--but he wouldn't exactly say his feelings either.

Guess he was stubborn too.

this was my first time seeing tim and also getting a chance to say a brief hello! (though, i’m not particularly keen on meeting celebs or comedians and rarely take the opportunity, tim just seemed so approachable and that "this really could be my only chance ever" feeling hit hard, so i did it!; that said, i am incredibly disappointed having missed richard osman's book signing last month, but now i’m digressing…) he seemed so, so chuffed at the show being sold out and people being so happy to see him, it made my heart happy 🥹 and, yes, totally polite! (and quite hairy?) i said this before, but one of the best things about nyc shows is watching artists brim with pride — nyc brings out the 15-year-old dreamer in them that they used to be, you can see the "holy shit i really did it" in their eyes... never gets old!!

(this is a follow-up to a question about which 3 comedians i’d want to have dinner with!)

i think people would typically approach this question one of two ways: you want to meet the people you really, really love no matter what or you want to meet the people you really, really want to know more about. those two things can overlap, but sometimes a person you adore has already shared so much, written so many books, created so much, done so many interviews and answered so many questions that you might feel it's a greater privilege to see behind the door of a fiercely private person instead, if forced to choose. stephen fry and simon amstell are great examples of people i've loved so long, respect so much, find endlessly funny and interesting and inspiring — but they've been so generous with their lives and thoughts that there are other comedians & writers i'd never know 1/100th as well even after a three-hour dinner and their undivided attention, and i may selfishly, desperately want to. i say "may" because i don't really blame anyone who would prefer to live in ignorance about their favourite comedians & writers and just enjoy them through their work. sometimes i think that's how i feel about victoria; she's so witty and so smart and represents so much of what i respect about women in her industry that i love her to bits, but because her opinions can be so strong and even acerbic i'm intimidated by the reality that we may clash in some of our ways of thinking — and, selfishly, i don't necessarily want to face that. anyways—

if we were having dinner all of us together, i think it'd be nice to pick 3 people who are friends and would have a lot to talk about amongst themselves — since i'd mostly be there as a voyeur, or to ask a question to spurn on more stories. there are also comedians i'd pick in this scenario because they'd do much better amongst their own kind than a one on one with a normie...

do you ever regret asking me these kinds of questions bc my answers are always so long and qualified and boring like i type this shit out thinking "who would ever read all this or care even half as much just list the fucking comedians" im so sorry for who i am

...like, really, someone like alex horne...he'll be much better in a group, with his friends to play off of...but fock he's kinda hard to fit in with my other faves...

i think for a group dinner i'd enjoy so much seeing catherine tate, lee mack, and david tennant. how epic would be that? the oldest of friends, who used to be in a group on the circuit as kids, and the long-time colleagues and icons, who have ruled tv culture with their talent and their charisma; three open, warm people, all legends in their own rights, with endless stories, who may not otherwise show lower-key sides of themselves. i'd sit at that table forever, i think, learning about the comedy scene, the acting scene, television and movies, how the industry circles have overlapped and evolved and helped and hurt. i could sit at that table forever, i think.

as for one on one dinners, it's too difficult not to say david mitchell (is that so predictable ╥﹏╥ ), who is someone who feels close but far; i think — apart from his love of history — he's offered many more scratched surfaces than deep dives, and i deeply appreciate the spectrum of his career and interests. i couldn't keep him too long because i don't think he appreciates going on and on about himself, and i'm sure i couldn't be too interesting, but man what an experience that would be no matter if it was just a short tea! otherwise, i would say sean lock and...as a kind of wild card...richard osman. i think a lot of people will relate to sean, just wanting to see him again, just wanting a moment of his humanity, his great balance between accepting the harsh and coping what we can. richard is a strikingly fascinating person — the younger brother of a famous rockstar and a massive comedy nerd who went on to become one of the richest comedy tv producers and now a crime author? talk about containing multitudes. he's been around for so long but really hasn't given much of himself away — i'm so curious about his life! and he seems such a polite, gentle, intelligent, insightful person, i think the conversation would just be so enlightening!

as you can imagine i have about 15 other people i'd be dying dying dying to have dinner with but i stuck with the prompt!!! sorry i was so word vomit about it >.<

the thing is julian has 0% dad energy — what he has is INTENSE rich childfree aunt energy. she’s gonna come around for dinner once in a while and wear that fake smile around the kids that makes it very obvious she’s not into them but is happy for you and talk about her recent trip to paris and after about two hours she has to leave 1) to go to the theatre but mostly 2) for her own sanity. as for lucy and sam, i saw an amazing exchange (i think on tiktok?? idr) discussing the quite serious difference at the foundations of james acaster’s and sam campbell’s comedy, since they’re being often erroneously compared, and someone made a point that went more or less like this: “the basis of james’ comedy is the fact he is a deeply angry, self-loathing and mentally ill person. sam is just a toddler who has had way too many lollipops.” and…that’s it. older sister lucy and younger brother sam have had too many lollies — you can even find some in their hair 🍭🍭

One thing you learned in two weeks of knowing yoongi was that all you would recieve from him as answer are just grunts and nods, maybe if you used some pixie dust and neverlands luck you could get him to speak.

Yes that was all there was left for the final strike, yoongi didn't knew why he felt so blank, he wasn't sure what he really wanted this time, did he wanted to marry you?, did he wanted to call off this all, did he wanted you?, he would a fool to say that he didn't craved you, he was starving for you but he wasn't going to touch you, no he had his principles and he knew that if he touches you once he would never he able to step back but he didn't knew if he was capable of love and in all honestly you deserved love.

Yoongi didn't knew how to stop himself, he knew it was better to strangle that damn magazine in his hand that to walk up to where you stood and murder jungkook with his bare hands, your smile was the only thing that was keeping him from doing that.

Hey Gina, after yesterday 's DM incident I just had a few thoughts about it and maybe I'm late to it but still, I felt like I could rant here for a while because you're one of the oldest Larry blogs that I've been following, perhaps the first one since I joined Tumblr.

I've been a Larrie since 2014 and see, one thing all of us as a fandom know is that the boys don't owe a single thing to us, and that hurdles will be thrown our way and despite them, we have to understand it all and hold on.

We can never blame them for the hate and bullying all the young fans on the internet recieve on a daily basis because that's completely the fault of the people inflicting it and their own morals.

We've been told that our idols hate us, that we've ruined their friendship, been on the recieving end of death threats and been doxxed because of our fandom which is a horrible part of the internet, and yet we haven't been deterred for over a fucking decade where most fandoms would be because it's nothing compared to what the boys have gone through.

However I'm sure the boys are aware of our situation and it's obvious that their hands completely aren't tied anymore by strict contracts anymore like they used to be.

Yesterday's situation, Louis unfollowing HLD(one of the biggest Larry UAs around and I'm sure he knew that. The antis had a FIELD DAY with that one) and just all recent occurrences (and Holivia, to add insult to injury, which I know there's a reason for it but given the circumstances, it isn't looking good for us) kind of is putting me off. If yesterday's incident was real, I'm afraid to say this but I'm deeply disappointed.

H and L are happy, I want to believe, they never do and never have owed us any "proofs" or any activity whatsoever as long as their own well being is ensured, they could take a break for years, they could take as much time as they want, after all they're humans like all of us and they're in sticky situations in a fucked up industry and we should understand that.

But at the end of the day, they're celebs with a platform and when there's people fighting for your expression for so many years and standing behind you, all these young people that have seen the worst of the internet, the last thing you do is add salt to the wound and act this way towards them, confirming exactly what the antis tell us.

Ignore us, of course you won't be able to acknowledge us at this point, we'll keep showing our support for you, but H and L need to understand that warding off such a huge part of your fandom is not a good move and it disheartens people for a reason. Realistically speaking, it's hard to still stay firm in your foundation after all this regardless of whatever prior incidents might suggest, I found myself doubting Larry for the first time in 8 years due to recent occurrences, if Louis' team thinks they're going the right direction with this, they're wrong.

I'm always careful not to do anything that makes my favs uncomfy and the way these things have played out, a lot of people are unlarrying simply because they think H and L might not want us to be doing this. That's all.

I logically can’t process the faking a marriage standpoint, I think Chris really married this girl, gaslight his own fandom to use this mess to gain traction for himself or/and her and it backfired greatly because he didn’t know his own perception and tried and failed to copy other celeb couples (real and fake) doing pr stunts.

I also think she’s going to share the wedding pics or some shit will happen that will be the final nail in coffin confirmation that he really is willfully in this mess.

The pr angle would be one hell of a Hollywood story and no I don’t believe those who believe it’s pr are crazy, I think they are very intelligent and spotted many holes but the pr is indeed real as well as the relationship which would make Chris a pathetic loser.

He has suffered from low self worth for years and now it’s lead to an extreme terrible decision but it may take him years to finally see it, marrying a twenty something was a safe and easy choice for him, he has the power in said relationship and we see it playing out.

It’s unfortunate because he gave many hope that decent men were indeed out there, but it was a scam.

I hope these 40+ yr olds see in the future, how disgusting they come off, imagine them having a little girl and she grows up and when she turns 23, brings home a 41 yr old, bet he wouldn’t be so calm.

I’ve come across this response of yours and let me tell you that i feel the same.. just yesterday I’ve seen pleasing posted a video with style music on its official account(its now deleted). when pleasing posted louis smiley on nail art ppl said it was fans choice.. but pleasing clearly knew what they were doing and wanted to cater to particular set of his fans(larries) and now using style, i mean really, on an official account.. there were many cases where i thought this behaviour was justified because i was a new larrie and thought when harry stumbled on his response on sweet creature but though they pushed two ghosts about Taylor, he clearly rejected it by saying nooo… thought harry is equally uncomfortable.. but seems like thats not the case.. he is not the same sweet kid that ppl thought they should protect and defend… larries always post the eyeroll harry did when he saw a haylor sign at his show but blatantly ignore how annoyed Harry’s expression was when a fan said her boyfriend name was louis last year and kind of made eye contact with his friends or whoever saying see they just bring up his name out of no where and I’ve to deal with it…

As I said before too, there used to be a time when Harry wasn't a willing participant in these things. But I think Haylor was a major turning point in his life. He soon realised how much he can get just by fake posing and fake dating and it stopped bothering him as much. He learned the industry game and it all payed very very well in his solo career. Just like Taylor he became a master in his PR tactics and the result is out here. I really don't mind celebs doing anything and everything for their success. I mean that's what life is. Once again hammering the meta theme but it is interesting to see how David & Michael’s chemistry really does get stronger as the episodes go on. I’m assuming it was filmed in order so a lot of it is the awkwardness of acting on Zoom I think since they had better chemistry in Good Omens 1 imo. They said they became closer friends through it and it shows

Also feels less ‘actor-y’/more comfortable between them as it goes on, which I get is scripted but you can tell the difference, like when a sitcom cast for many years either starts hating each other at the end or becomes inseparable

tl;dr Overall it’s quite cute! Well written, easy watch, lotta subtle funny moments and back and forths. Interesting to see something that feels like a play as a Zoom TV show, it’s unique. Everyone is having a good time and likes each other and it shows. Not sure I’d come back for a rewatch if not for it (apparently) becoming a lot more meta as it goes on and then whiplashing from funnier in season 2 to major bummer in season 3.

It’s fascinating to see a friendship develop in real time, and even aside from that, it’s written and edited concisely. Based on .gifs I’ve seen it looks like season 2 has a lot more of the iconic/memorable moments. Don’t really see the “love story” aspect yet but I guess that comes in time. (And arguing! I’m excited for arguing. Actors love that shit.)

Regarding the media do you think it’s Louis’ decision to focus mainly on the fandom and not on gp so they don’t want to creat cheap headlines for attention? I think Louis have 'chosen' this (more like being backed up to a corner). To attract the gp he has to do some things that he probably finds disingenuous and not really 'him'. It would probably involve sore subjects or subjects that he contractually can't talk about. He probably feels fake performing for a ignorant audience like that (I would) and is really over playing these games. So he only does it when he's obligated to. As i've said many times before, his antagonistic relationhip with the press goes way back. I think he's given up on fixing it until he comes out (and the press naturally shows interest again). And he needs the press to attract the gp.

I don't really think he focuses very much on fandom either. He doesn’t do much fan service. He didn’t write his album for the fans, he did it for himself. He's just grateful for us allowing him to do so (as he always says). His promo for fitf was both, a bit for fandom (signings for example) and a bit for the gp (the interviews with repeated talking points and F mentions). So he's doing a bit of both, but not enough of either.

Dancing with the Stars Season 4 Week 4 Rewatch

Laila and Maks- Paso Doble (Judges' Score=21, My Score=7)- The judges kinda ripped this dance apart with their comments, but it was actually pretty good. I think the biggest problem here is that Laila just wasn't as strong as you would expect for her to be, considering that she's a boxer and a fierce competitor in the ring. And in the paso, you need that fierceness.

Apolo and Julianne- Waltz (Judges' Score=26, My Score=8)- Hmm. This was good. But I have to agree with Len here. There was bad footwork. He was doing that weird pitter patter thing that celebs tend to do when they do any of the waltzes. One thing I remember about this season was them asking Laila about being the last woman standing and I'm realizing that they are holding the women to a much higher standard than they do with the men. I saw the same issue during season 3 and Monique talked about it as well. Bruno gave Apolo a pass with many of his issues because he's a skater. But Laila didn't get that same pass and she's a boxer. It's just very interesting to watch this nowadays (race plays a big role in this as well).

Leeza and Tony- Paso Doble (Judges' Score=16, My Score=5)- Mm. Okay. Leeza's biggest issue was front and center here. She is very cautious. It was not performed well at all. It lacked any sort of attack. She moved way too small. She was holding back. The actual execution of the steps was fine. But everything else was not good. I just really wanna sit in on Tony's rehearsals. The majority of his partners have this same exact issue and I want to know how he teaches people how to perform, if he even does it at all. Even the good ones have this issue, they're just more capable. The only 2 I remember that didn't have this problem were Stacy and Nene. And Nene only ever started performing like Nene after she got paired with Derek for switch up week. So yeah, I really wanna know how he teaches.

Ian and Cheryl- Waltz (Judges' Score=24, My Score=8)- Cheryl said that Ian was her least favorite partner a few years ago (amongst some other pretty nasty things about him) and I could kinda see some of her frustration right at the beginning of this package. Ian seems to be a perfectionist and slightly obsessive and Cheryl was not even 23 at the time. So it might've just been hard for her to handle someone like that at such a young age. Anyway, I liked this dance. I think it was Ian's best so far. He is a bit stiff and robotic when he dances. And it is strange to see it come through in the waltz. But CAI hit the nail on the head. He does not breathe when he dances. And it really shows. If he were to just chill out, he would be SO much better.

John and Edyta- Paso Doble (Judges' Score=16, My Score=5)- Yeah, so I was going to score this a 6 at the beginning until John really started dancing. And I was like "oh, this is not good." It lacked style. It lacked finesse. It lacked technique. And the actual performance was just kinda off as a whole. Yeah, this was his worst dance to date.

Clyde and Elena- Waltz (Judges' Score=15, My Score=6)- I don't think this was as good as Clyde's quickstep, but I believe his posture improved a lot this week. I do think that he's trying. I don't think the judges were right about that. Dance doesn't seem like it just comes easily to him. This why I say race comes into play too. A lot of people always talk about how difficult they are with the women while completely ignoring how much nastier they all get when the contestant is also Black.

Billy Ray and Karina- Paso Doble (Judges' Score=21, My Score=6)- Imma just say this. Len gave this a 7 and this was given a 21 in order to make a point. The dance deserved no more than an 18. And it is offensive to every couple there that he got a 21 because he tried. Why didn't anyone else get a higher score because they tried? I hate when they do this. And this is no shade to Billy. I like him a lot. But there were so many issues. Props to Karina for really getting Billy to this level of dancing though. That has been a feat.

Heather and Jonathan- Waltz (Judges' Score=23, My Score=8)- This was actually my favorite dance from Heather so far. I think it was so gorgeous. Heather moved really well. Jonathan has also been doing a great job with the choreography. One of the biggest issues is her head gets out of line with the rest of her body. I thought it was way better than their jive and on the same level (better honestly) than their mambo.

Joey and Kym- Paso Doble (Judges' Score=28, My Score=9)- Yeah. This was the dance of the night. Joey and Kym killed this. The posture was so much better. His butt was finally all the way under. He performed it so well. It was almost perfection. I just felt like his hands were distracting at some points.

i think some people never get out of the bandom dome because pete never gets lauded for anything, especially not his sexuality. recently there was a whole video calling what he (and other musicians of his sphere) used to do on stage "queerbaiting" and calling his lyrics "misogynistic" while the same person talked about the importance of whatever harry styles thinks he's doing (nevermind the fact that they kept forgetting how race and sexuality play such a big role in pete's work and just called him part of the white straight cis man entourage). i wouldn't even say get out of bandom and take a look, you can just look at mcr fans who want to distance themselves from fob with an air of superiority about who's the queerest frontman in bandom lol. pete was never praised for being not straight, and acting like he is, simply because some bisexual 17 year olds on tumblr feel happy they have someone they can relate to, somehow equals him getting any kind of praise or respect is ignoring how most men of color get treated about their sexuality

Yeah I do think Pete can be sexist and has a history of treating women terribly but I don't really think any Fall Out Boy lyrics cross a line, I don't think TTTYG rises to the level of being misogynistic. I do think some of the things being conveyed in *67 and My Heart Is The Worst Kind Of Weapon are a bit concerning given his history but those are just kinda obscure demos, they aren't like actual songs anyone is referring to when they talk about it. Additionally, Patrick wrote a lot of TTTYG. Even in terms of songs that are """misogynistic""" it's like art or whatever, it's often not literal, I don't think there should be like .... a ban on "misogynistic" or "problematic" lyrics or that the songs are inherently bad and not good or whatever.

With literally any celebrity whatsoever that has said they'd prefer not to explicitly identify their sexuality publicly or spoken in ambiguous terms about it-- that's not queerbaiting, that's a real person, and real people don't need to have a certain number of oppression points to be touchy with their friends or wear the clothes they want to or write gay or sexually ambiguous lyrics/books/tv/whatthefuckever. Even if they do say "I am straight," and almost no celebs accused of ""queerbaiting"" do, that's still a real person and real people experiment and sometimes experience feelings they aren't sure about.

I do think there's some weight to the idea that actual gay/trans artists do not get the same praise/recognition as people who are ambiguous but that like.... doesn't mean it's the fault of artists who choose to be ambiguous. When I was younger and figuring out I liked girls my mom and therapist accused me of attention-seeking and faking it and mental illness and doing it to get guys to like me-- not that being gay was mental illness, but the doing it for attention part because I didn't seem "really gay" and there were actual gay people out there suffering. It was just a shitty way to treat a kid that was getting called slurs at school. And I wonder how many Twitter leftists who froth at the mouth with rage and rail against band guys or singers or whatever wearing dresses or guys painting their nails black are going to turn out to treat kids in their lives that way because in 20 years when theyre a mom they think their 12 year old son is only wearing a skirt/painting his nails to "prey on young women and make them think hes safe" or whatever freak opinions people pretend are woke

Trueeee. I heard someone who works in PR guest speak on a podcast recently about just how “calculated” the notes app paragraph thing is. Like, sometimes celebs will be advised to purposefully leave in typos/ not punctuate things etc. to make it seem more “personal” and less carefully constructed or whatever. Which is sooo carefully constructed and manipulative, lmao. Candice did a rare podcast interview today and she did not hold back. SOMETHING happened on set in S1 that 1) turned her off from actually watching the show and 2) made her seriously consider quit. Basically without Jesse on set she would’ve quit a lot sooner

Hi there. I have not listened to it, outside of the short clip Candice posted on her insta story, no.

If that is the case that something happened on set in season 1 (which I believe she has hinted at before in past interviews as well if my memory is not playing tricks on me), that really fucking sucks. And I feel for her because I can barely imagine what it could have been like. Both for my lack of knowledge of what I view as the hellscape that is being in the public eye and working in that industry, but also specifically as a black women, which I cannot relate to. We already know how absolutely vile the public was to her from the very start, and it absolutely infuriates me that a large part of why she stayed (per the clip from instagram and several other interviews) was because of her fans. Because that tells me that, yet again, a black women feels the pressure to withstand so much bullshit because of what it means for ‘black representation’. A weight she should not have to bare nor feel she needs to. She wants to be an inspiration and barrier breaker so that those that come behind her have an easier time at … literally just playing a character on a television show. ALLLL that being said. I will say, if she didn’t explicitly say WHAT happened (I’m assuming here she didn’t, based off what you said) I don’t think speculation is a great thing to add to the situation. Support definitely is. Sharing that you’re angry anyone or anything would make her feel this way, is. But diving deep into her personal life and timelines, creating narratives, and attacking people based on these theories is just a recipe for disaster. And clearly not what she want’s if she herself wasn’t specific.

We’ll never get all the pieces right. We can’t. We literally weren’t there. So speculation just muddles down the point it seems she’s trying to get across. She was treated poorly for no goddamn reason, and her fans should kick up a storm and be angry, but not to the point where it get’s so personal and assertively and specially speculative it blows back on her. Because it will. It’s her LIFE you’d be speculating about. A women who has said on several occasions she takes her privacy very seriously.

Not trying to say you are doing any of this, anon, sorry to be using your post to word vomit. I’ve gotten several messages regarding this podcast that I don’t plan on answer for many of the reasons listed above. I mean, me asserting any opinion about a piece of content I haven’t listened to is the definition of speculative imo (also just ignorant). So I was kind of using this to speak my peace. Most of this is based off previous knowledge, as well as just my general viewpoints around people and celebs and privacy, so if anything I’ve said was contradicted in her podcast, I own that.
