While I delight in Timbern's beautiful Christmas fanarts, I've been cooking up this little attempt at an AU for several weeks now.
So I just imagined Tim trying to get to Bernard to get him safe from the vampire uprising that's been brewing in the shadows, reaching out to him as a civilian and planning to confess to him that he's Robin before taking him to the Bunker under Wayne Tower to keep him safe until they can find the vampire king and get rid of him.
Only the vampire king had gotten to Bernard long before him. Dick just wants his brothers by his side helping him rule the new world he's about to create. Turning Timmy's boyfriend and using him to set him up? That's just sweetening the deal for his brother, after all he wouldn't want to separate him from the person he loves, right?
If I ever stop criticizing DC vs Vampires?, is it because I have been cloned and my clone is managing the blog after getting rid of me 😆 Ok, so I just can't help but think of an AU where Dick hasn't lost 75% of his intelligence by becoming a villain and his desire to have his brothers by his side during the world government was legitimate. (and I will never forgive him for crushing Tim's head like a watermelon without even trying to recruit him to his side).
Also, have you seen that strange and somewhat erotic loyalty of vampires towards their king? That shit never failed to catch my attention.
As if, upon conversion, there was something that was disconnected in people's brains, if humanity had a switch and it simply turned off. They reason, they talk, they think and everything, but there is something so different about them. And that's fascinating.
It reminded me a little of the demons from Sousou no Frieren, who are capable of talking, thinking, planning and a lot of things, but they are not able to understand humanity. A predator that cannot understand its prey.
I think that would be really fun to work with in an AU, but unfortunately I'm too lazy for that lol.

OKAY HEAR ME OUT
Big dramatic reveals are Great, even a casual "Yeah I know" is Great
But hear me out
Bernard finds out Tim's identity not because he figured it out, not because Tim was injured or truth serumed or whatever.
No, be finds it out because Jason got annoyed one family dinner that he couldn't make a death joke and just made one
In front of Bernad and loudly
And Bernard is like: wait what?!?!?!?!?!?

Bruce: What is your intentions with my son?
Billy, panicking because Damian and Jon and him are on a Super Secret Kids Only Mission: Uh, I'm taking him and Jon out on a date!
Clark, zooming over at the speed of a panicked father: Jon is going on a date and he didn't tell me?!?!
Billy: *internally* Robin and Superboy are going to kill me

Bernard had known a long time. He had known since High school who Tim was. It wasn't hard to figure out, and while Tim went great lengths to hide it, if you knew what to look for, it was easy to sniff out.
So, when Tim sat him down in their now shared apartment, Bernard was prepared. Be was going to let Tim tell him himself, when he was ready.
"Look, I should have told you sooner, I know I should have," Tim sighed, messing with the sleeves of the sweatshirt he had stolen from Bernard back when they first started dating. "I'm just... I never dated someone who didn't know before we dated."
"It's alright Tim," Bernard soothed.
"I know you're a vampire" "I'm Red Robin"
The two stared at each other. Neither spoke.
"Bernard what the hell?"
"I thought it was obvious!" Bernard defended. "Wait, you're Red Robin?"
"You thought I was a vampire?" Tim gaped.

Y'all ever think Billy just casual hints he's a foster kid/homeless to the Leauge?
Like, they don't know Marvel's identity, but things just kinda Hint At It?
Like Superman and Marvel are evacuating civilians and like... Marvel not only remembers the homeless exist, reminds Supes they exists, and knows all the poteial Aves they are? And all be says is he gets it and doesn't blame Supes because "if I didn't have experiences like them I would have forgotten too" or aome line like that?
Or just how much get gets along with Jason? Like even post-ressurection Jadon. The two talk for hours about the best spots they've squatted or how Captain Marvel of all the Justice Leauge appreciates what Jason is doing. Like, he may not fully approve of the method, remember he's still an idealist and a kid, but he understands the motivation and reason for it and behind it.
Or he just casually mentions he's an orphan and "grew up in some rough spots before finding my family."
Stuff like that.

Isabella, 15+, female, straight, was born and raised in a small town called Green River, Wyoming. Her birthdate is January 24th, 2001.
Isabella is one of the main protagonists of her teenage years. She's a caregiver, the main reason for this knowledge is because one of her best friends since her toddler year was brutally attacked by his parents. Another reason is because one of her best friends turned her back on their mutual best friends and became a literal gang member and started ghosting her mutual former friends whenever they tried to plan an evening or day or afternoon together.
Isabella is 5'4, curvy yet skinny, she's white, her skin being fair to the point it would burn and be easily bruised. She has small and tiny pink lips, a small nose, is baby-faced and has chocolate brown eyebrows. Her hair is lower-waist length, and natural, wavy, hot chocolate brown hair with light brown highlights to compliment her hair. Her eyes are upturned, small, and they are a near translucent periwinkle blue color. She wears glasses but prefers contacts to glasses, and will wear sunglasses most of the time to protect her light eyes. She tends to wear something black and pink but will wear other colors, too. She prefers pants over dresses and short-sleeved shirts over long-sleeved shirts. Her hair is normally is either in a braid, or a ponytail braid. She has a scar on the side of her right arm caused by her classmate Krysta Reynolds. She has tiny pale scars lacing the palms from her hands by picking at the skin with the ends of paper clips out of worry and concern. She also has a scar lining on her left collarbone from breaking her collarbone in a motorcycle accident. It hasn't healed right, yet she keeps proving to her dad that she still can do tumbling.
Isabella has lived in Green River her entire life and is considered the loner of her high school. She gets pretty good grades, which has allowed her to get into Honors Classes at the last year of her high school years. With getting good grades, not has only allowed her to get into Honors Classes, but when she turned 15, she immediately began getting ready to take her driver's ed class and get a blue Honda car by the time she turns 16, despite her father's wishes on getting a car and getting herself a job. She's done as much as she can to prove to her dad that she can do things on her own yet he doesn't believe her and continues to try to keep her under his control up until a year later after she gets married to her high school boyfriend and good vampire, Jonah Ledger, she moves into her best friend's (Victoria Stone's) house by 17, after Jonah and Victoria's psychotic parents tried to kidnap them.
Isabella is a very kind, helpful, funny young girl, who also sports the personality of being very stubborn, upfront, honest, and she will speak her mind. When she's honest, she won't apologize for being honest and speaking the truth. She'll say it how it is and she won't back down from a fight.
She's one of those rare people who will actually stay with you and be there for you through all the good times and the bad, and won't do anything to cause someone harm. But besides that, she's also a damaged girl after what an ex-friend caused, causing her to become more of a loner in the first few months it happened than normal and almost cut off her friends because she also had developed a defense mechanism just so she doesn't get hurt again. She's also known push you to do something that she knows they'll be great at (she pushed her best friend Kaydence to start training up for the police force when Kaydence was indecisive of it, but Isabella has a great sense of support for each and everyone of her friends to the point she 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘴 if someone's gonna go far with something. She's pushed Luke to try out for track and field, and after high school and college, he's begun doing marathons, triathlons, and so forth).
As she's been in tumbling, she's gotten awards each year that she keeps in a box under her bed. She's also a really good writer (her best friend Jonah and herself work together on a lot of stuff, she'd write it, and he'd draw pictures for references). She works at her grandpa's fast food joint (Bernard's Roadside Burger) and has created a new delicacy delight when they were out of spaghetti sauce for their lasanga, using Alfredo sauce instead, and it was a huge hit for the fast food joint. She's known for making/baking a lot of treats for each school party she goes to to contribute to it, or just for her circle of friends if they hang out somewhere or go on a picnic together. But she also bakes a lot of treats for each holiday of the year, including Valentine's Day, Easter, and the Fourth of July. Some people in Green River are surprised at how well she can bake and how fancy/creepy/and into detail her treats and goodies are, that it makes the people at the high school super jealous of her (which is why a lot of people are cruel to her at school, but it also isn't the only reason why).
She also makes fancy (non-alcoholic beverages) which are called mocktails, because she doesn't want any underage people drunk, or any person drunk and/or high off their rockers.
She is a huge fan of reading, and likes to delve into all kinds of mystery books she can get her tiny hands on, especially if they have a hint of romance in them. She'll even read superhero books, like, Marvel and DC. She'll read magical books like Narnia and Harry Potter. Action-packed books like Michael Vey and Percy Jackson.
She is also a huge fan of music and likes a variety of bands/singers, but her most favorite is the Christian rockbands are Skillet and Superchick, for their messages they say.
Her most mistake she regrets is ever meeting her ex-friend, and she knows she shouldn't say or think that, but it's what she feels in her young teenage life. The reason for this is because her group of friends and herself noticed that their mutual ex-best friend started drifting away from them (I know this happens sometimes, but there's more to the story), that said ex-best friend started rumors about Isabella and her group of friends, causing the whole high school to gossip about them, like, spreading false rumors that they lied about Jonah's parents being locked up which got to Isabella's family into the mix, even the marks on Jonah were there. The friend finally apologized in a senior graduation letter on the last day of high school. But with all the crap that friend put her and her friends through, it was too late for their friendship to heal back.
Isabella absolutely hates bullies, because of what that friend did, and just stories of what backstabbing friends did. She also can't stand mushrooms, and is allergic to them, she can't stand peppers/hot peppers, and ketchup. She hates it when her dad gets mad at her, even though she's right, trying to guilt trip her, telling her that she's too young to understand, stop trying to grow up so fast (that almost made her want to leave her birth house).
She's afraid of hurting anyone, even on accident. She's afraid of doing something wrong by the way she was raised. If it wasn't for her friends, she wouldn't know anything that she needed to know out in the real world. She's also afraid of spiders, but where there's fear, she has hope for a brighter day.
Her motivation is her belief in God, trying to prove to her dad that she's not a baby anymore, getting out of her house, going to college with her friends (to teach her how to live on her own), and make it out of Green River without another scar on her scar-filled heart.
(Questions are welcome)

7: Favors
October 27, 2017
I picked up the phone on the first ring, "What's up?"
Maeve’s voice was pressed on the other line. "I need a favor." She was hushed, the rustle of busy action behind her almost drowning her out.
"That is?" I asked, sitting up in my seat.
"Go to 124 Grade Avenue and protect the residents there." I hurried to type down the address.
My eyebrows stitched closer. "From what?"
Maeve's voice lowered even more. "The Assault Team*’s gotten their hand on bad magic. They plan to use it to kill some dangerous otherworlders with void connections and history. Some are saved that have signed as allies but the people I need you to help haven't."
"Then why am I protecting them?"
"They're not void, Aspen. Just stubborn and prideful. They're neutral right now but I'm working to get them to my side."
   "Your side?" I mused.
"Aspen." Maeve was firm. She meant business.
I sighed. "Yeah yeah yeah. Gotcha. Consider it done."
"Thank you," she breathed, exhaling tension I didn't know she held. "When you get there, if they try and fight you, don't fight them, just defend yourself. Ask for Shay, Nik, Eli, or Jesse. Tell them what's happening and that I sent you, but only them. The extras there aren't important."
"Shay?" I recognized the name. "I'm finally going to meet your bf?"
"He's not my boyfriend," she snaps, before softening her voice again.  "Please just hurry Aspen. They're getting the spell work ready now."
"Right. Okay. I'll get on it."
••
The drive was an avenue of oaks and ended in a roundabout in the front of the stone manor. I pulled up to the front and cut the engine off.
Getting out of the car, I cast my gaze to the sky. Clouds had rolled in fast.
I squinted my eyes, feeling the calm before the storm as magic gathered above.
The sound of gravel crunched under foot as I headed to the front door. I was pleased when my boots made little knocks against the stone walkway.
With a quick tap on the fancy oak door, I only had to wait for a few seconds before I came face to face with a vampire.
His eyes narrowed. "Who are you?" His accent was thick.
My eyes slid past him to the few other vampires lingering in the foyer. "I'm a friend of Maeve's. She sent me here to help. I need to see a Shay."
The vampire hesitated, not moving an inch as he studied me.
"It's okay, Bernard." A new voice said.
Bernard bowed his head and moved aside, revealing the figure behind him. This man was big. Business dressed and professional in nature, I took a step back.
"I'm Nikolaus. Second of this nest." He watched me with pinpointed eyes. Power radiated off him like a heater. "What's your business here?"
Huh. I cocked my head to the side. What an intimidating presence, I thought. Power like that was ancient. Familiarly ancient actually. God Maeve what company have you found yourself in.
I smiled, "Ahh. It's Nik right? I'm Aspen Farley. Maeve sent me here. Told me to speak to her boyfriend Shay?"
He didn't react, but I hoped the casual nickname was enough to prove my story.
He nodded, opening the door for me to step through. "What's this about?"
"Maeve's caught wind of a nasty spell the Assault Teams cooked up. Hoping to kill off some of the void underworlders, they're gonna cast it tonight," I retold all I knew. "So she called me. To protect you 'neutral' people."
I rolled my eyes at the word 'neutral'.
"I think we can handle ourselves," a blonde man said, stepping up from the crowd behind Nik.
I laughed. I wonder if vampires this old even remember what fear feels like.
The vampire stood with his chest out and fangs bared.
It was silent and I composed myself, coughing and brushing my hair behind my ears. "You think so? I don't know about you but I can feel the magical charge amassing above your house. It's not even to full strength yet but it will smite this nest off earth's shitty surface."
"Nik?" I turned to see another vampire just as powerful as the nest's Second. He stood in the threshold. The man's eyes were on me, picking up details on myself while I did the same. "Who's this?"
"Aspen Farley," He gestured a hand towards my frame. "Apparently a friend of Maeve and here to save us from some impending doom."
The dismissiveness in his voice grated against me. I swallowed a sharp retort. Jesus Christ does Maeve have to deal with this all the time?
The other name stood up straighter at Maeve's name. I went on a limb, speaking to him. "It's Shay right? Maeve's boyfriend?"
His lips parted into a small smile, "I don't know if I would say we're courting but I suppose."
Typical.
Shay studied me for a moment longer before turning to his brother, "Let her help us. What would be the harm if it was unneeded?"
Nik thought for a second before agreeing with a simple shrug of his shoulders.
"Sweet so lets see," I paused, thinking. Maeve didn't tell me what type of spell they were using but I'd guess it was from above.
I turned to Shay, "You have any crystals, salt, and umm? Dill herb seasoning?"
      He made a face.
"Ah shit. I should have known." I chewed my lip. "Well you have salt right? I know you gluttons like to eat regular food too."
He actually laughed. "Yes, we have salt."
"Good. Get me a lot of it."
He snapped his finger and a vampire went off immediately.
I paced a bit, thinking of a way to protect this place from an Assault Team Cast Death spell. If I can't absorb it, it'll hit them and fry us all. I didn't know if they were just going to target the house, and burn it to the ground; or if they managed to find a way to hit specific targets.
My fingers brushed through my hair.
God Maeve could have made this easier on me.
I stopped. The light bulb in my head flickered on. "Y'all have a big mirror? Like an old antique mirror. The ones with the silver backs?"
"What makes you think we have one?" It was almost like he was joking.
I shot Shay a look. "Do you not?"
He regarded me for a moment before his lips split into another grin. "Of course we do."
"Good," I said, almost wide eyed at the energy of this encounter. "Get me one."
"I see how you and Maeve are such good friends." He chuckled, turning to usher another vampire off for the mirror.
"And I see how y'all are totally 'not' dating."
The salt was here before the mirror. The vampire had a huge sack of it and even brought the kitchen shaker too.
A vampire appeared with the mirror a minute later.
"Sweet sweet. Where's the center most window of this place?" I ask.
Shay walked off, and everyone followed without a word.
I roll my eyes. Dramatic, but okay.
We headed down several corridors, twisting and turning, before eventually settling in an octagon shaped room. I looked up, and saw a giant skylight was the ceiling. It truly was marvelous with a beautiful pattern made of clear and stained glass sheets.
"Alright, I can work with this." Really this couldn't have been a better set up.
I approached the women who held the mirror. It was a big wall piece. Its edges emboldened in untarnished silver. She reached to hand it to me.
I smiled gently back at her. "Can you hold it for me for a moment please?"
She nods with a straight face.
I tapped the glass, hovering my hands just over the glass surface before weaving my magic into it.
I focused on the energy and its purpose. The mirror was to draw and reflected all the harmful magic back, effectively sparing these vampires from the hit by taking it for them.
I knew it wouldn’t fail me.
I finished when I felt a hum of power reverberate through the glass and silver. I could see it, iridescent and shimmering. It was how I imagined air to look if we could see it.
I met the woman's eyes again. She had a shocked look on her face. Her hands trembled as she gripped the mirror.
I knew she could feel the magic. "I'll take it from you now. Thanks"
She nodded again, stepping back and rubbing her hands together.
I stood in the center of the room, eyes heavenward as I figured where the best spot was.
With a shrug, I laid it flat against the marble floor. I guess here's as good as anywhere. "Alright. So give me the salt."
The man handed me a sack with a hole torn in the top.
“Thanks" I muttered, immediately getting to work drawing a thick circle close around the mirror.
Working from the inside in, I drew a small circle. Then a bigger one 4 feet away from it.
"Shay," I spoke as I drew the circle. "I'm going to need you to get every vampire in the nest in here."
He didn't reply but he did leave.
I froze as the last bit of salt fell into place. The hairs on my arms and neck stood. "Ohh noo"
The atmosphere pressure changed, growing tense with energy. It was thick to breath.
The spell was finished.
"Alright. So don't leave until I say it's over and please don't like, freak if you start to feel weird." I say, thankful that Shay made it back when he did.
A murmur ran through the room but of course it was too low for me to hear. I ignored them, focusing on the energy above us. I could almost see the power rubbing together, readying itself to strike us all.
Someone gasped and slowly they all grew more serious. I smirked when I saw Nik and Shay both glance towards another man. All their faces were grim.
They feel it now.
Inappropriately, the "Can you feel it now, Mr. Krabs?" meme flashed in my head.
I strengthened my stance and raised my arms. Calling my own magic, I switched tongues, invoking an old incantation in the First Language*.
Protect us all in this time of need from the forces gathered to do us harm.
The energy I harnessed spilled out into the room, engulfing myself and the vampires. It encased us all individually, protecting us for as long as I kept my focus. I flexed my fingers, keeping my body firm.
With a thunderclap, the death spell barreled down from the sky. The sound was deafening when it hit the mirror. Raw energy caused the metal to sing. My eardrums popped at its melody.
Glass rained down as light and heat suffocated us all. I closed my eyes, but didn't dare move.
The room was so suddenly stifling. My head tried to swim at the pressure. Blood rushed through my body and my heart sung, but I ignored it.
My eyes shot open and my breath hitched. Sharp pain, shook my focus. The protective barrier around us to thinned, burned away by the offensive magic. A vampire's started yelp added a testament.
Glass sliced across my face, cuting a gash into my skin. I refocused and pushed my power out, recovering the vampire while I was at it.
I felt blood starting to trickle down my cheek and shoulder. Inhaling, I shook off the stinging sensation.
An even breath renewed the strength in our protection. The vampires stood stark still as they saw the ray meant to kill them fall and bounce back into the sky. The woman who had held the mirror was wide eyed as she focused on the protective magic that flowed around them.
I sensed when the energy fled, vanishing back to where it was borrowed from. The last of the magic entered the ozone, carrying on until it too dispersed
I relaxed my hands and rolled my shoulders.
     It was silent still.
Eyes were on me as I started to influence the lingering energy.
My right hand circled the space in front of me, brushing my sternum every counter clockwise rotation. With a little nudge all the straggling magic fled back into the earth.
Finally, I broke the salt. Letting all my magic go lax, the protection around the vampires faded away.
My guard stayed sharp though. The blood trailing down my neck and arms a clear reminder to do so.
Shay approached me behind the man that Nik and him shared a glance with.
His demeanor was relaxed and unthreatening. Yet, he held authority and too much power to understand.
My eyes narrowed. I couldn't place the sense that I've met him before. It was like my magic recognized his.
He smiled, showing mostly straight teeth. "It seems the gifted see us as a threat." It was an assumption phrased as a statement but holding the obligation for me to answer as if it was a question.
My shoulders tightened as I looked up at him. "I don't speak for the gifted that did this." My voice was also tight. "Matter of fact, I don't speak for the gifted at all. I came as a favor for Maeve."
He nodded, still ever so slightly pulling at my mind with his own will. The pull was harsh, unlike anything I've ever felt from a vampire.
He hummed, continuing to bully me with his influence. "May I hear your opinion on this hit then?"
I felt my brain slow, wanting to fall into his influence. My eyes blinked, while my brain struggled to comprehend what was happening.
I stood there, neither of us breaking contact. Nik and Shay were off to the side standing behind him like body guards, watching, and expecting me to crumble like some worm.
Oh shit. It all clicked. The familiarity. The severity of these men's power. And the fact that there's a Second and a Third.
This is a True Master's nest. One of the first vampires to be created. The first product from the Lord of Darkness.
One of the Otherworld's own cryptids. They’re supposed to be a legend among legends.
How the hell did Maeve stumble onto them? More importantly do they realize the connection they bare?
I blinked, pulling myself away from his mind games. "Sure. Be happy Maeve was watching out for you because you'd all be dead if she wasn't." I paused, my eyes searching for any signs of hostility. "And pick a side. This is a war that none of us can stay neutral on. Either the Sun* comes for you or the Void does."
It was silent again as we both held eye contact. My hands had wrung my fingers behind my back and now they just tightly grasped them.
He smiled again, "Well I suppose a thank you is in order."
I shrugged. "It was no problem."
"I'll have Shay show you your way out." He turned and started off down one of the many hallways. Nik following at his side, both heads were turned in a serious conversation.
I laughed to myself, releasing the worry I had.
I suppose I'll just let them sort it out. Maeve's smart enough, and the True Masters have enough wisdom to make the connection.
——————————————————————
Assault Team is an association of highly powerful gifteds. They first founded to save the world from Hell’s wrath a long time ago. Now they act as the Sun’s warriors, keeping Void down and ect. Members are connected and bonded forever by a binding spell engraved in their ribs. Members live whatever life they wish and their involvement in the Team is kept as secret.
The Sun is a term for the Otherworld’s government. This includes the 4 families, the Assault Team, and any other associations that work for them. They are what keep order.
The First Language is basically the Language the Lords used in the creation of the world. Only few can speak it and it carries great power as the words carry magic themselves.

Survey #181
"wine is fine, but whiskey’s quicker. suicide is slow with liquor.”
What’s the farthest you’ve gone with someone? I mean I'm not a virgin? Have you ever said “I love you” to someone and didn’t mean it? I don't believe so. Do your parents usually agree with your partners-of-choice? Yeah. I really don't know how Dad feels about me being with a girl currently, but he likes her personally. How many people do you like right now? (even the slightest bit) Legitimately, just one. My "I don't actually know this celeb but I'd 10/10 marry them" thing is just a joke. Do you believe little kids can fall in love? My guess is not until you reach a certain level of maturity where you can grasp the seriousness of "falling in love." But who really knows. What was the last dream that you can remember? On the morning I'm answering this one, I swear I had like ten or something last night. As time goes on though, they're starting to blur together. The one that stands out most tho is my sis and I became the first Americans (yes, that was a detail) to fully infiltrate a Russian, secret government base without being killed. Look idk either. Have you ever been rickrolled? Maybe? Do you like balogna? Yeah. It was my favorite lunch meat as a kid. Are you supersticious? No. What animals have you ridden? Horses and ponies off the top of my head. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve done to someone you don’t know in public? I don't think I've done anything notable for this. Do you ever stick gum under seats? No, and my opinion of you greatly plummets if you do. Do you live somewhere where it’s completely safe to walk alone at night? I don't think those exist anymore. Have you ever lived with someone who was a total slob? When Dustin pretty much lived in the apartment with us... jc. Would you rather be able to talk to animals or be fluent in every language? Talk to animals. Does your kitchen have a pantry? No. Have you ever interviewed a job applicant at your workplace? N/A Have you ever gone over 3 months without shaving/waxing your legs? I don't shave them anymore unless I fear there's even a tiny chance someone might see them... Thanks, society. Are you high-maintenance? Definitely not. Would you ever consider being a foster parent? Being any kind of parent is off the list for me. What are some things that make others cry, that don’t make you cry at all? Idk, I'm a crybaby. Most sad songs don't, I guess. Are you a very detail-oriented person? Or are you better at seeing the big picture? Definitely the former. Do you have any upcoming plans with friends? lol What kinds of leisure activities did your family do together when you were growing up? Watch TV or sometimes play board games, probs. Occasionally all go in the pool together. Dragons or unicorns? I'm all 'bout dragons, man. Do you wish vampires existed? Um no. Do you sing in front of people you don’t know very well? How about dance? Nope. Have you ever sang/spoke/preformed in front of people on a stage? Sang in church choir and elementary chorus, read my D.A.R.E. report, and was in groups at dance recitals and competitions. Is it more fun or scary to do so? If you haven’t, then what would you think? Eh, it depends on your level of confidence in what you're performing. Like with dance, I was never that nervous as I knew what I was doing. Singing wasn't bad either because I was with others. Now reading aloud, alone, fuck that. I think anything alone would be scary. Would you rather slit your wrists than read Cosmo? I normally delete just plain stupid questions, but I'm leaving this here to hope and pray the author of this question sees me sincerely  and genuinely say fuck you, you goddamn fly-swarmed shitpile with a maturity level surpassed by an infant's. Did you ever like barbies? Do you currently like barbies? They weren't really my thing, but I'd play with them if my sisters or friends wanted me to. What’s your favorite hit song right now? I don't know what the hit songs are right now. What’s your favorite element? (fire, water, air) Out of the traditional four, fire. Have you ever been to a wild party? No. Have you gone through any drastic life-changing experiences? If so, what was the most drastic? Depression and anxiety manifesting was absolutely life-changing, and then when you consider it resulted in PTSD, obviously the break-up was incredibly serious, but it also led towards my gradual recovery. What traits from your father would you like to pass down to your children? Don't want kids, but I'll answer as if I did. If that were the case, I like how he's not one for grudges, is very openly himself, and is super goofy. What is your biggest fault? It probably all boils down to my anxiety and trust issues resulting in me jumping to conclusions. If you could transform into any animal what would it be and why? Probably a snow leopard. Climate I love, super pretty, and I know I'd wanna be a feline anyway. What are the first three things you do when you wake up? Check the time, go to the bathroom, then it varies. Can you remember the first time you ever talked to the person you love/like? Does he/she remember? Ha, sure do, both through text and Skype... I'm sure she remembers the basics at least, too. Would you be able to have a relationship with someone you didn’t find attractive, if they had a nice personality and treated you well? Yeah. Have you ever really liked someone to begin with, then changed your mind about them? Maybe? Does your significant other/crush know about your Tumblr? Does he/she look at it? Yeah, and we follow each other, so. Do you ever feel a desire for sex at inappropriate times? Define "inappropriate?" What was the last thing that one of your parents bought for you? Fast food. Think about your first boyfriend/girlfriend. Did that person make you happy? What went wrong in the relationship? Sure, but just as friends. If you decided to dye your hair, would you choose to go lighter or darker? Lighter. I want more colorful hair. Is there a TV show or movie in which you’re incredibly emotionally attached to the characters? I don't think so "incredibly" since Meerkat Manor. Would you rather arrive super early or super late to class? Early. What’s something really basic that worries or troubles you on a consistent basis? It's a wonder I'm blanking here considering I know there's a load of things. What do you use the internet for the most? YouTube. On a scale of one to ten, how good is your memory? A goddamn one. It's been exceptionally awful lately. Do you worry about money? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA YEAH. Do you have any health problems that are unusual for your age? Well, the memory thing, though it's probably just a side effect of my meds or actual ADD. My knees are atrocious, though, and after many, many tests, we still can't figure out what's wrong with them. What’s the longest nap you’ve ever taken? When does it no longer qualify as a nap?  Maybe like... four hours at max? Are you more likely to expect the best or the worst of a situation? The worst. Always. Have you ever said or done something in public that resulted in a stranger’s response? Possibly. How many serious relationships have you been in? Two. Do you think you have a vivid imagination? Very, personally. What was the last song you listened to? "Sick Like Me" by In This Moment. How many hours a day do you spend on Facebook, if any? Not even one. Do you own your favorite film on DVD? Maybe? Idk if we replaced the VHS. Have you ever been so angry that you screamed out of nowhere? On one occasion I basically screeched my lungs out on the porch. What’s your opinion on Nicki Minaj? I guess as a rapper she's good, she's indisputably quick as fuck, but I'm not a fan personally. Do you like having your lip softly bitten when you’re kissing? Oh fuck yes. Have you ever been on a boat? Yeah, when Dad would take me fishing and also on a 5th grade field trip to a horse-inhabited island near one of the lighthouses. We couldn't go to the lighthouse because the water was too rough. Have you ever been hopelessly in love with a celebrity? You can't be "in love" with someone you've never met and don't know personally. Generally speaking, do you like acoustic or original versions of songs better? Hm... tied, I think. What was the last band shirt you wore? Otep. Do you follow any celebrities on Twitter? I use Twitter only for Mark. That is all. What was the last flavor of pudding or yogurt you ate? Chocolate. What was the last thing you bought online, and how about in an actual store? With my own money, online it was Sara's ring I believe, and in a store was a snack. When was the last time you met someone who seemed very unpleasant? Hm. I honestly don't go out and meet people enough to answer this. Does anyone have a romantic interest in you, that you don’t return? Possibly, but it doesn't matter. Have your parents met the person you’re currently interested in? Yeah. What was the last alcoholic drink you tried for the first time? Did you like it? Oh my fucking god, some kind of "fancy" vodka in a margarita. It was disgusting. Are your eyes the same color as your siblings’ eyes? Only my brother. What food(s) have you eaten a lot of recently? Nutrition/meal replacement shakes. Do you use the microwave a lot when it comes to cooking food? Yeah, 'cuz I can't cook. Are you currently trying to get over someone? No. Do you know anyone who’s been on TV? If so, which show? Not to my knowledge. Do you have any lockets with pictures inside? No. Have you ever liked a football player? No. What was the last thing you learned? Some snacks rats can eat. Do you like Chinese food, Mexican food, or American food better? American. I'm very picky with all foreign food, actually. What’s your favorite scent? Freshly-baked bread, coffee, honeydew, lilacs... If you could house any pet, what would it be? Out of all pet options, uh... I suppose a horse or Saint Bernard if I had the means to properly care for them, too. Do you pluck your eyebrows? No. Do you like to swing? YEAH. How about jumping on a trampoline? I would if my knees weren't shit. If you could have any car, what kind would it be? Idk. I'm not educated on cars enough. What’s your favorite fast-food restaurant? I'm a slut for Wendy's. How often do you like to have sex? I'm not in a position where that's ever a thing yet. It wasn't something I thought about with Jason either, but we were pretty regular with sexual affection so we never went very long without, anyway. What’s your definition of weird? I don't care to define it, honestly. "Weird" can be good, bad, neutral... It's too vast a term and super subjective. Do you use shaving cream? That or lotion when I shave my legs. Have you ever personally known any girl who shaved their head? Well, she's an online friend, but I'd count her. Have you ever coughed up blood? I don't believe so. Who was the last person you hugged? My niece or nephew. What’s some of the worst pain you’ve ever felt? Mental: heartbreak and abandonment (both without any obvious prologue), rejection from who I cared about most, as well as deep hopelessness. Physical: having a cyst drained, an internal hemorrhoid, fracturing my wrist, having my tongue piercing redone and more accurately, a severe case of constipation I had as a little kid, an ear infection that made me want to chop it off and all out, a concussion, menstrual cramps before I was put on the pill... Are you modest? Probably sounds immodest to say, but I know I am. What kind of guys/girls do you usually fall for? Above all else, my consistent weakness seems to be the "weirdos." The ones that really stand out in their uniqueness. Do you skate? No. I mean, I'm capable of rollerblading, but it's not something I do every weekend or something. If you were to make it big with your own band what would it’s name be? Hell if I know. HAHA WAIT. My old username in some places, BulletsxButterflies, was based off my Rock Band band "Bullets And Butterflies" and like can you say #myaesthetic so that'd be pretty cool I suppose. ... Although it was inspired by the song "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" and I don't wanna get sued so like- What’s your favorite kind of pasta? Just normal spaghetti with sauce and meatballs. Would you rather a friend come over to your house or you go over there? I GO OVER THERE. I am a SHIT host and there's nothing to do here anyway. What’s the perfect first date? Go to a sit-down restaurant (doesn't need to be expensive at all), just the two of you, and *talk*. Don't touch your phone, just talk and listen with honest interest in your partner. I think this is especially important if you started dating shortly after meeting, as now that you're together, you really need to get to know each other. If you were good friends prior, you should already be pretty familiar with the other, and then I think things are a bit more flexible. Have you ever had rabies? No. Do you know anyone who ever had to get a rabies shot? *shrugs* Ever eaten deer? Duck? Squirrel? How about lamb? No. Have you ever received a note in your locker? As I do almost everyday even tho you're not advised to. Oops. Would you convert to a different religion if your fiancé/fiancée was of a different faith? No. The world is ending, and you can save one group of five people: who would be the five people that you save? Just five ah screw you man. Considering both those I hold close to myself but also people I feel would help recover the world for the better, and also assuming you don't include animals: Sara, Mom, Mark Fischbach, my psychiatrist (he's so fucking knowledgeable on medication that the world does not need to lose all that information), and probably Jane Goodall. Well idk, she's up there in age and may not last very long, but. asjfapwuw this is a hard question, I'm trying to consider who I love personally but also who would be capable of properly rebuilding humanity, or at least give us last six (if I'm alive, too?) a happy end to our lives. Psycho (1998)
⭐️
Tumblr media
Director Gus Van Sant didn't seem interested in doing anything original or different with this remake, it's literally a shot for shot remake, so in that spirit let me re-tweak my review for the Alfred Hitchcock’s original:
The modern horror film was ushered in when Michael Powell released Peeping Tom, but it was Alfred Hitchcock who managed to bring it into the mainstream and make it lucrative. Horror was no longer about gothic castles, vampires and monsters, it was now about human beings, deranged human beings doing horrific things to others. Horror would never be the same.
What makes Psycho an undisputed classic and the reason it holds up so remarkably well is Hitchcock's direction, a near flawless script (minus that final monologue), some excellent editing and above all some truly remarkable performances. The script calls for real people, not "good" people, but ones we can become invested in and like despite their flaws or motivations, I mean you can't help but like the frightening villain at the centre of this piece, he’s oddly charming.
Janet Leigh plays Marion Crane, a secretary who steals $40,000 and goes on the run. On her journey she stops at the Bates Motel. We spend a good porition of time with Marion, she wants to run away with her boyfriend and we see the paranoia and even regret she experiences following her theft, we think she's going to make a strong lead character, but we all know that isn't the case.
Anthony Perkins plays Norman Bates, the owner of the Bates motel and a seemingly harmless man. Perkins brings charm and likeability to the role, but he's such a strong and smart actor that even before anything happens you can sense something isn't quite right with the character, there's a darkness buried underneath that sweet smile. What is initially disarming becomes quite alarming and both director and actor work perfectly together to create something iconic and unique. There's a real push and pull between who Norman thinks he is as oppose to what he truly is.
I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't happened to see the film, and if you haven't I urge you to do so. Psycho is a classic because all the elements that make it are basically perfect, it's story structure proves midway that you should expect the unexpected and gives you a sense that nobody is safe. There are memorable scenes, the shower (obviously) and the staircase scene. Norman's mother's silhouette in the window and Norman attempting to cover or hide his "mothers" actions are as uneasy as they are strangely comedic.
Many would argue that this is one of Hitchcock's greatest films, and it's hard to dispute that, it's certainly his most memorable. It's the kind of movie that is as relevant in 2018 as it was all the way back in the 60's, it can still scare you with its relationship between mood, performance, imagery and score, and what a score! Provided by the great Bernard Herrmann. It's a film that can be studied fruitfully and analysed, and has been to death. It's the kind of film that filmmakers wish they could make and it's as important and influential as it ever was.
Just replace the actors names and add a scene of Vince Vaughn jerking off, who is an awful choice for Norman Bates, he doesn't inhabit that weird menacing yet likeable quality that Anthony Perkins did so flawlessly. Oh and when reading this review just replace all positive notes to negative and boom! We have a lucklustre review for a lucklustre remake.
