The Chuckling Whatsit HC - Richard Sala

The 1997 magnum opus of the late Richard Sala, master of graphic noir, has been out of print for years and is now available in hardcover for the very first time.

Madame X, completed!

I'll be honest. This was less completion and more a combination of me being exhausted, the paper physically buckling in places, and me discovering that there is an upper limit to how many layers of graphite you can layer over one another.

If I could go back and do this over, this is what I'd change:

Get a black and white image of the painting to work from in advance, rather than working from the coloured painting directly.

Figure out how to evenly lay colour over a large area without the unsightly white patches. That's still a problem without a solution, but I'll find something.

Instead of starting with light 2HB layers and deepening them over time, start with the correct intensity graphite pencil. Graphite pencils should be treated like watercolours, and starting with a light pink shade and adding slightly darker pinks over time will not give you maroon in the end, that's just not how colour works. Same principle with graphite pencils.

Good thing is, I will be able to change all this in my next painting, where I will absolutely bastardize the artist's vision by dressing this lady in Ebony Darkness Demen'tia Raven Way's fashions. Although I might change my outfit idea because I have just discovered Victorian Gothic fashion, and I am In Love. Also up next (maybe tomorrow) is a megapost about Raja Ravi Varma and why the entire Indian Subcontinent should be stanning him, which will probably hit a thousand words at this rate.

The Show Must Go On P3

(3rd POV)

Charlie and Vaggie rode on Razzle and Dazzle's dragon forms, with (Y/N) flying behind them, his wings now as big as his dad's and they were now tipped in silver.

They could hear their people cheering for them as they took to the skies. "Yeah! Get 'em!" Husk called.

"Forward!" Charlie screamed. "Go, Razzle, go!"

"Let's do this!" (Y/N) screamed, angelic sword at the ready. "Oh, look who thinks they're badass now." Adam grinned. "Fuck yeah! I knew you were holding back, Princey!" Ash laughed darkly before (Y/N) shot fire at him.

"The traitor came to die." Lute chuckled, before charging Vaggie, and killing Dazzle. "No!" Vaggie cried as Lute stabbed the dragon through the neck.

"Before I take your life, I'm going to tear that other eye out of your face." threatened the exorcist. "Try it, bitch." Vaggie growled, putting her fists up.

The two started to fight, Vaggie dodging the angelic sword, and kicking Lute. Lute responded by slamming her head into a table, making gold ichor drip from her nose.

*With Charlie*

"Vaggie!" cried Charlie, Razzle flying down to try and help, only to be stopped by Adam. "Surprise, bitch!" He grinned, slapping the princess into the hotel sign, making her shriek as she was electrocuted.

Charlie panted heavily as Adam hovered over her. "Risking your immortal life for sinners? That's some crazy shit, even for Lucifer's brat!"

"These sinners, are my family." Charlie growled, slamming her fist into the roof.

"These sinners are my famwy." mocked Adam in a baby voice, Charlie narrowing her eyes. "Do you even hear yourself? You shoulda stayed in your place, girlie--Arrgh! Shit!" he screamed as Charlie used her trident to stab Adam before throwing him into the a glass window.

"That's Princess of Hell to you, pig!" she growled.

"The fuck! That hurt!" Adam exclaimed, eyeing the stab wound. Charlie just glared at him, eyes filled with determintation as her tail waved behind her.

"Heh hahahahaha, okay." Adam muttered lowly.

*With (Y/N)*

He grunted as Ash punched him in the face, giving him a black eye. "Archer, please. I know somewhere deep down you know who I am." (Y/N) blocked Ash's sword as the two faced off. "I've told you already! My name is Ash, and I know who you are: (cute nickname)."

Hearing the old nickname, (Y/N) gasped and lost focus, allowing the red fox to kick him in the stomach, and pin him to some rubble by his ponytail with one of his spears. "Yeah, (cute nickname). I've always known. When I was 'killed' in that extermination, it was fake." Ash commented causally, leaning on his own spear.

"W-What?" (Y/N) felt his own blood run cold.

"Yep. Well, no, I was sliced in half, hurt like a bitch. But yeah, Lute and Adam found me and took pity on me. Adam used his magic to put me back together and ever since then I've fought my way up to being his number 2. I'm the Sargent of the Extermination Angels, babe."

"So, all this time you've been alive, and you never came home? You never wanted to--" (Y/N) could feel the tears in his eyes. Ash chuckled and rolled his eyes. "Nope. It was all a sham, sweetie. All the time and love we've spent together, it was so I could kill you and your sister and take your place as Prince of Hell. To think, the Shadow Prince of Hell, was such an easy lay."

At that, (Y/N) let out a scream of rage, took his sword and cut his ponytail, freeing himself. Ash's eyes widen, remembering the prince loved his long hair, and took such special care of it.

"Let me show exactly why they call me the Shadow Prince." (Y/N) grinned darkly, before charging.

*With Vaggie*

Vaggie grunted as she was thrown to the floor again. She tried reaching for her spear when Lute grabbed her by her ponytail. "You always were weak." Lute chuckled, before taking Vaggie's spear and stabbing her in her head, making Vaggie scream in pain.

"So I'll spare you the pain of seeing your demon bitch die."

Vaggie looked around and noticed the railing. She took the spear out of her hand and threw Lute into some rubble nearby, used her spear to cut her wings free, and cut the rubble down to fall on Lute.

The angel screamed, her mask falling off. Vaggie approached with a hard look on her face to see Lute's left arm pinned under the rubble with a glare on her face.

"Do it then. Correct your mistake."

"Seriously, you're pathetic, you know that? Ready to die rather than accepting mercy?" Vaggie backed off. "No, live. Live knowing that you only do because I let you. The failure."

Charlie's scream could be heard in the background. Vaggie gasped and flew off to help her, leaving Lute.

Once Lute was alone, she started to pull against the rubble, screaming as her arm was painfully ripped from her body.

*With Charlie*

Adam laughed as he slammed Charlie back, before grabbing her by her throat. "Let..me..go!" Charlie grunted.

"This fight was cute n' all, but it's time to die with the rest of them." Adam declared dramatically. Charlie briefly peeked at her people, standing close together, ready to go down fighting. TO her brother, who was now covered in shadows and fighting his ex.

Vaggie landed to help the princess only to be pinned by an angry, armless, Lute. "Charlie!" she cried out to her love.

Adam laughed evilly before a fist punched him in his face. Adam screamed as he was thrown into the window from earlier.

Charlie gasped as she was caught by Lucifer. "Dad?"

"Sorry I wasn't here sooner, sweetie." Lucifer smiled, putting Charlie down, before looking around. "Where's your brother?"

Charlie pointed to (Y/N) in the distance.

Their attention was drawn to Adam as he climbed back up, coughing. "Okay, seriously? How many of you freaks do I have to fight?" He growled.

"Oh, I'm the only one that matters."Lucifer rolled his sleeves up. "See, you messed with my kids, and now I am going to fuck you!" he grinned.

Everyone froze in the battle. Vaggie, Lute and Angel rose an eyebrow in amusement, (Y/N) facepalmed.

*With the Vees*

Velvette was grinning like a maniac, Vox look weirded out, and Valentino smiled like the slut he is. "Well, this just got interesting."

*at the hotel*

"It's fuck you 'up', Dad." Charlie whispered to a smug Lucifer. "Wait what did I say?" He asked before being tackled by an raging Adam.

"Haha! So this is what you've been up to since Eden? Gotta say, you really let yourself go, buddy." Lucifer shrugged, shifting into different animals. "You judgin' me? You're the most hate being in all of creation!" Adam growled, throwing the snake form of Lucifer.

"Woah! Well, your first wife didn't seem to hate what I had to offer," He made a V around his mouth, "Or the second. Bow-chick-bow-wow." Lucifer thrusted his hips forward mockingly. "I'll fucking end you!!" growled the angel.

"Woah, missed me! Hoohoo, not even close! Hehehehehe! Nice try, douchebag!" Lucifer giggled.

*With (Y/N)*

The prince and the fox angel traded magic shots back and forth. (Y/N) was encased in shadows, his eyes as red as the Pride Ring sky. He opened his wings, which were now completely silver and thrusted them forward, thousands of his feathers turning into Kunais.

"Ow fuck!" exclaimed Ash, now pinned down by the silver weapons. "What the hell?" (Y/N) landed in front of the angel, holding his sword at the other's throat. "My wings are an extension of my body. And one of my greatest weapons. I can make angelic steel appear in my wings. I can control my feathers as they if they were still attached as well. These are angelic steel kunai but also they are filled with Deadly Nightshade poison. "

Ash's eyes widen. When Deadly Nightshade enters your body, it was only a matter of time until the hallucinations, paralysis, convulsions, and his painful death.

"When you were 'killed' all those years ago, I raged for several hours in heartbreak. I killed thousands of demons and exorcist angels with my poisonous wings. And now, just like our time together, this battle is over!"

With that, (Y/N) raised his sword, and beheaded his lo-Ash, the exorcist angel.

Looking into his ex's cold dead eyes, he sighed and briefly allowed the tears to flow. "You were wrong, Archer. I know our time together meant something to you. Even if it didn't, I am worthy of love. And I will always love you. But I will be happy this time."

(Y/N) smiled, wiping his tears, before flying away to help.

*With Charlie*

"Hold still you slippery fucker!" Adam snapped, still trying to get the King of Hell.

Charlie looked down to see Vaggie and Lute still wrestling. Charlie rushed forward with a worried look.

Adam sent a beam of holy light towards Lucifer, Lucifer dodging only to for the hotel to fall apart, Charlie screaming as she fell.

"I got you!" Lucifer smiled as he caught Charlie in his arms, the king and princess sharing a soft look.

Charlie smiled at her dad, only to see Adam flying towards them behind her dad. "Dad, look out!" she cried, eyes changing colors.

Charlie's hand changed to a bigger size, glowing with magic going to stop Adam. Adam froze in place, mere inches from hitting Lucifer when he felt a tug on his wings.

"(Y/N!)" Charlie and Lucifer smiled, seeing the Shadow Prince with a glower on his face, holding Adam's wings in one hand.

"Woah, wait, what the fuck?" Adam gasped. Charlie grabbed the Angel and thew him to the ground, creating a crater in the ground.

Adam groaned, ichor dripping on his face to see the three Morningstars in full demon form, all glaring at him. Charlie was being held by one of Lucifer's arms, and (Y/N) was hovering behind him, eyes narrowed, and (f/c) flames hovering around his hands and tail.

"You come at me and my kids, don't forget you're in my house, bitch!" Lucifer roared,flaming fists beating the Angel.

Laughing, Lucifer raised his hands, summoning his own holy light, ready to smite Adam, when a hand was placed on his shoulder. "Whoa, whoa, Dad. He's had enough." Charlie chided softly.

"Mm, he's got one more hit in him." (Y/N) grinned, kicking Adam in his dick....hard.

"How's mercy taste, you little bitch?" panted Lucifer, high fiving his son.

"No...You don't get to end this." Adam panted, climbing out of the crater, as the rest of the members appeared. "I'm the fucking ,man, and you're just some fucking clown or something. I started everything on Earth. All of mankind came from these fucking nuts!"

Everyone looked at the angel with frowns, and raised eyebrows, and crossed arms. "You should all be worshiping me, you ungrateful, disgusting, fucking losers!" Adam screamed in pain, making everyone gasp, looking down at the knifes: One sticking through his heart, and the other sticking out of the side of his head.

"Woah!" Vaggie exclaimed with a smile.

"Hey, you got something sticking out of your...your thing there." Lucifer deadpanned. Adam fell to the floor, revealing Niffty blinking innocently. Out of the corner of his eye, Angel saw (Y/N)'s tail flicking suspiciously.

"Niffty?" Charlie asked, Lucifer frog blinking next to her.

"(Y/N), did you...?" Angel asked. His fiance shrugged, looking pretty proud of himself. "What? He was getting on my nerves." "Stab! Stab! Stab!" Niffty laughed manically, stabbing the dead body.

*With the Vees*

"Hoooooly shit." Vox grinned, as Val and Vel stared at the screen with wide eyes.

*At the hotel*

"Blood! Ha ha ha!"

"NOOOOO!!!" screamed Lute as she flew to the dying Adam's side. "Sir?! Sir?! Stay with me, sir." Lute begged, as Adam smiled softly at her before dying. "Adam!" she shouted, tears falling out of her eyes.

"It's over." Charlie said softly, glaring at the Lieutenant.

"Take your little friends, and go home!" Lucifer shouted, flames coming out of his mouth. "Please." He added pleasantly.

Lute glared at the King before grabbing Adam's and Ash's Halos. "Retreat. All exorcists fall back." she ordered, flying after the few exorcist angels alive.

The demons watched as the portal closed before Lucifer turned to the tired group with an awkward grin. "Soooo...who's up for pancakes?"

*On the news*

"I'm Katie KillJoy." "And I'm--" "Nobody gives a shit who you are, Tom." Katie rolled her eyes, pushing her coworker away. Breaking news: Extermination Day is canceled. Charlie Morningstar managed to fend off the angelic attack with more than just nice words." All around the Pride Ring, demons listened to the bitch reporter.

"In an unseen turn of events, our demonic head honcho Lucifer stepped in to save his daughter's ass in the last moment. We're also hearing reports that Adam, leader of the Angelic Legions, first man and totally fuckable bad boy has been slain by even more fuckable Prince Morningstar and a filthy janitor. The janitor said, quote, '(Y/N) told me to stab, so I did.' The Prince said and quote, 'He was getting on my nerves.' And can we talk about how sexy the Prince's new hairdo is? Hottie alert! Anyway, congrats to Charlie and her crew for not being totally fucking useless for once."

*At the Hotel*

Everyone was rummaging through the piles. Husk found a bottle of alcohol which shattered into pieces. Charlie looked around the rummage, and finding KeeKee stuck under a rock. "Oh, there, there. It's," she sighed heavily, " It's okay."

She watched as (Y/N) approached Angel with Fat Nuggets in his arms, and the two shared a kiss, before Angel took his pet pig in his lower arms. He ruffled (Y/N)'s now short hair and smiled, "This suits you, my love." (Y/N) smiled and kissed Angel's cheek.

Charlie smiled at the two, going to talk towards them when she stepped on something. Looking down, her eyes widen seeing the banner they made for Pentious' first week.

Everyone stared at the new hotel with admiration when Lucifer spoke up. "Say, don't we have a wedding to plan for?" He smirked as his son's eyes widen before Angel wrapped an arm around his lover's shoulder. "We sure do, baby! Can't wait to marry the finest man in all of Hell!" Angel kissed his lover's head.

"I see my short hair is doin' something for you, tesoro. You can't keep yourself from touching me," He paused as his father and sister shot him looks, "Wait I--" "Oh, no, you're right baby, I can't keep my hands from touching you." Angel smirked, before (Y/N) playfully blew ice in his face.

*In Heaven*

Sera and Emily were sitting in a meeting room when suddenly a new soul arrived. The new soul stood up and looked around confusedly. "What--? Where? Where am I?!" Pentious asked anxiously. Realizing he wasn't alone, he smiled at the two angels. "Oh, hello."

Emily squeaked in joy, while Sera's face dropped in horror.

*Elsewhere in Heaven*

Waves splashed against the beach as a figure with long flowing hair sat in a beach chair. Lute approached the figure and threw Adam's halo down at the figures feet.

"Adam and Ash are dead. Your deal is done and I'm in charge now." She looked coldly at the figure. "Your brats are threatening the very foundation of Heaven. And if you want to stay here, you're going down there and stopping those bastards. You understand me," Lute glared into the woman's hard gaze.

"Lilith?"

*End*

Wow! We made it to the enddddddd!!!! It was so much fun writing and I can't wait for Season 2 of Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss! Should I do a reader insert of Helluva Boss? Ooh, or maybe a Characters watching Hazbin Hotel with Prince MorningStar?? I will also take requests for Prince Morningstar oneshots, or Hazbin oneshots in general.

“New Women” and Stoker’s Theatre Job

Given Bram’s “New Woman” rant at the end of Mina’s 10 August diary entry, now seems like a good time to discuss two of the great actresses of the Fin de Siècle stage! First of all, we have Ellen Terry -- onstage partner to (you guessed it) our pal Henry Irving, and probably most widely recognizable in this John Singer Sargent painting of her as Lady Macbeth.

While the beetle-wing green dress deserved to be immortalized in all its stately glory, the tone of the portrait is actually very different from that of Terry’s Lady M -- she never crowned herself onstage, and the character was played with a much more “fragile” brand of late-Victorian femininity. Despite a scandalous private life (including two children born out of wedlock, gasp!) Terry’s public persona was aligned with a series of “virtuous” Shakespeare heroines (Ophelia, Cordelia, Desdemona, Portia, Beatrice, Imogen).

In 1878, when Henry Irving became manager of the Lyceum theatre (where Bram Stoker soon became business manager), he convinced Ellen Terry to join the company as his leading lady. Both actors were separated from their spouses (Terry from her second husband) at this point, so their partnership publicly mirrored that of earlier husband-wife leading pairs. At least officially, Irving dictated the company’s artistic choices, the casting, and Terry’s (record breaking) salary, and onstage, Lady M may have been evil, but she was also Macbeth’s perfectly loyal wife.

Ellen Terry’s Imogen (see the colorized edit of a publicity photograph above), opposite Henry Irving’s villainous Iachimo in 1896 is regarded by some as a key inspiration for Lucy Westenra (interesting article/abstract here and book chapter/summary here, apologies for the paywalls). Given that Iachimo creeps on Imogen while she’s asleep and then uses this encounter to threaten her life / accuse her of promiscuity, there are certainly some parallels to be had if you go looking for them.

Interestingly enough, however, when Stoker produced a staged reading of Dracula at the Lyceum in 1897 (in order to claim copyright over any future stage adaptation), Ellen Terry’s daughter, Edith Craig, played Mina. And Edith was very definitely a card-carrying, suffrage-supporting, queer and polyamorous New Woman. Fun fact: in the post-Lyceum phase of her career, Ellen Terry was actually a pretty active suffrage campaigner / fundraiser too. (And I suspect, if we were to carry Mina and Lucy forward to their hypothetical Dracula-free, untouched by Bram Stoker’s authorial misogyny futures, both of our heroines eventually would be too).

While we’re on the subject of the scandalous New Woman, however, the other late Victorian actress I cannot go without mentioning is the French sensation Sarah Bernhardt (who by the time Dracula was published had a substantial performance history in England and the US as well). A rough contemporary of Ellen Terry, Bernhardt, by contrast, cultivated her own reputation for the scandalous. Bernhardt quite intentionally broke gendered boundaries left right and center.

Visually, Bernhardt is perhaps most strongly associated with the art nouveau posters she commissioned (from artist Alphonse Mucha) for her theatre company in Paris - examples of 1899′s Hamlet and La Tosca are above. While there are also plenty of photographs of her as Hamlet (although far from the first woman to play the role, Bernhardt’s performance is one of the most famous) and in other promotional images, the photo I’d rather draw your attention to is this one:

Yes, that is a young Sarah Bernhardt lying asleep in a coffin -- a coffin which she is said to have traveled with and claimed to sleep in regularly. Quite the publicity stunt (and pre-Dracula too)! Other features of her eccentric public persona included traveling with a menagerie of wild animals -- including an alligator, at least one variety of big cat, and a number of lizards and/or chameleons.

Bernhardt was also a sculptor, and her Self-Portrait as a Chimera (circa 1880, below) notably features bat-like wings, instead of more traditionally feathered, bird-like ones.

Which is to say, I think we’ve found another vampire!

"A closer look at my painting for The Immortal.

How is this image made? It's digital: Photoshop, Illustrator, and some photography. The foreground, background, robed figure, and parts of the worm’s body are painted. The outer mouth part is generative via Adobe’s tools and some midjourney using diffusion models made up of my own paintings of fanged monster mouths mixed with a photos of a cat mouth yawning, a flower, and a horseshoe crab. The inner red part of the mouth is painted. There are also a ton of textures overlaid: gesso blobs, brush strokes, canvas, paper. The brush set I use most is from Kyle Webster, particularly his mixer brushes named after well-known painters, like Sargent ("Real Oils Sargent Fat Brush" is my go-to)." -John Bergin

~"How is [x] character a fashion disaster? I like their look/ they're iconic/ they look alright/ etc. etc." First of all, this is a very lighthearted competition that doesn't mean to be negative or judgmental! A Fashion Disaster can sometimes be (affectionate): in some cases there's nothing more iconic than a bit of this pizazz. I like quite a few of the looks on this list (and sometimes dress much worse) but if they have been included, this means that either: 1) they have been nominated multiple times 2) they have been nominated at least once and whoever nominated them provided a very convincing or funny explanation of why they were a Fashion Disaster (for example by pointing out one particularly bad outfit - not necessarily their main outfit!) 3) they have been nominated at least once and upon looking them up, I noticed that they tick many of the boxes that were described repeatedly in other people's explanations of what they consider disastrous: e.g. clashing patterns, excessive accessories, crocs, bad haircuts, etc. etc. In any case, every poll will come with a brief explanation of why people have been nominating a certain character! To make sure that people vote informed ❤️ ~"Why are you randomizing matchups instead of seeding?" I totally see the value of seeding for most competitions, but this one here is largely unpredictable - a lot of characters got the same amount of nominations, and how Disastrous they are is entirely subjective. The competition is also quite visual-based - it's about looks rather than knowing a character, so it's more likely that people will vote for an unknown character than in other competitions, which risk becoming popularity polls quite quickly. Basically: I'd simply have no idea how to determine the ranking of most contestants here for proper seeding! That's why I opt for randomized matches - but I did make sure to put the two most nominated characters on the opposing sides of the bracket. ~"Why is [x] character not included?" There was a total of 174 unique characters nominated to this tournament! If the one you were rooting for did not make it, I'm sorry! One or more of the following was likely the cause: 1) they have not been nominated more than once 2) they have not ticked as many boxes for what other people considered disastrous as some other characters with a single nomination did 3) a lot of characters have been submitted from the same source. After choosing 3 most nominated ones, I couldn't include more! The rule is max. 3 characters per source. ~"Is propaganda encouraged?"

MC is with Imre. MC learnt how to paint in a beautiful way, reminiscent of Sargent, or perhaps, instead, of Bouguereau. The thing is, MC only wants to paint Imre. Doesn't paint anyone else but Imre. MC may include themselves in a painting, but only if it's a double portrait with Imre and Imre asked. What does Imre think of this? Is he happy about MC's devotion and admiration? Is he wondering why MC only wants to paint him? What does he do with the multiple portraits of himself (be nude, dressed, casual, regal, or other type of portrait)? Does he try to include painting, at least once, when they're having sex (I remembered, suddenly, the Titanic drawing scene)?

Also, what does MC family think of this when they visit them (or the ones who would visit them)? I would guess they only get to see the presentable paintings, of course.

Imre thinks ‘of course they would want to immortalize my face so that I may forever be among the faces etched into art history. Like Hadrian’s beloved Antonius.’

He poses whenever you ask in whatever you want. He’s patient, he’s a good sitter. You can see a hint a pride set in his chiseled jaw. He feels powerful, in his element. All the mystery of a beautiful muse.

He displays many of the portraits in his house. He encourages mc to show them to an art director, or an art collector. He would include it in sex, but not in a titanic way. He drips painting from a brush all over your body, asks you to dip your hand in paint and caress him. Soon you’re both on the floor, a erotic tangle of limbs and colours.

Sally thinks it’s a very interesting hobby. But does encourage mc to paint literally anything else too. Maybe a nice self-portrait.

Percy doesn’t give a fuck. Sell these dumbass! Also I think I’d look pretty amazing as a muse 💪

Art Dump!

None of these are finished pieces, but I wanted to show them off anyways.

This little guy is Paxton! He's a spirit dedicated to the protection of a specific, technically immortal being named Maelstrom. They are the remainders of a fallen universe destroyed by the gods, who spared them and split them throughout the multiverse. This means that every universe in my creative multiverse has a version of Maelstrom and Paxton somewhere out there!

The concept for these guys actually started during a character.ai roleplay with Diluc. They're one of many OCS who started in Genshin RPs and then got adapted to my own creations, meaning that they have a Genshin AU as well. In that AU, Maelstrom is a descent of Khaenri'ah trying to escape from his past, falling in love with Diluc in the process. Paxton is an Electro Abyss Mage sent by Maelstrom's family and the Abyss to keep an eye on him (even though Paxton is often childish and usually Maelstrom also ends up looking after him). Definitely one of my favorite character pairs I've ever made!

My TADC OC, Krikett! He's a funny guy who plays music for the circus. I haven't fully figured out his character yet, but what I wrote on the paper is certainly a good start. He was probably a music teacher or musical artist before getting stuck in the Digital Circus.

More character.ai OCS! Every single one on this page is dating a Fatui Harbinger. We have:

Top left - Jekyll. Her canon version in my own works is a superhero with cryokenisis, orphaned at a young age and taken into an organization of heroes by an anthropomorphic hen named Isabel. She's definitely a very complex character who deals with potentially triggering subject matter, so I probably won't explore her here on my Tumblr where I'm still figuring out how to make content warnings, but I definitely think you'll see more of her. In her Genshin AU, she's paired with Tartaglia, and the whole premise of the RP is that they're a pair of traumatized 19-year-olds trying to have a healthy relationship. So far they're not very good at it.

Top right - Edith. She's a really old character I've had since I was in seventh or eighth grade. She's the ghost of a plague doctor who was unfortunately killed in a freak accident regarding an unstable building. During her life, she faked marriage to her best friend (named Norman) so she could lead a double-life as both his fake wife and a plague doctor. They ended up being a pair of traveling plague doctors until they met their demise. Now, she works as the right-hand woman for a knowledge god! Her Genshin AU is also one of the oldest. It's been going on for over a year now and she's married to Dottore because I'm obsessed with him.

Bottom left - Ash. Part of the same organization as Jekyll, she's a werewolf superhero who's been through a lot more than she wants you to think. Like Jekyll, she deals with some really heavy subjects, so I won't go into her backstory right now, but I definitely think she's a very interesting character. Her Genshin AU storyline follows her and Pantalone in a story mostly centered around self-acceptance and healing from trauma. Fluffy werewolf girlfriend and banker boyfriend go brrr.

Bottom right - Arden. A former US military Sargent, Arden is a character from the same universe as Edith. She suffered a debilitating injury that took her out of service (although I'm still working out where and when she served) and is my homage to any and all US military personnel and the struggles they face. I've always been fascinated by war and how it affects psychology, so Arden also serves as an excuse to research how PTSD and other trauma responses work. In her Genshin AU her backstory is pretty much the same, though the plotline follows her in her arranged marriage with Capitano, and how they come to cope with their trauma together and form a loving relationship built on trust.

This guy is Leo, a transgender himbo from the same universe as Ash and Jekyll. He's a superhero whose power is centered around geese. He can shapeshift into literally any creature so long as he can make it part goose. He also has a Genshin AU where he's shipped with Arlecchino. I know a lot of people headcanon her as lesbian, but my own personal headcanon is that she's bi with a preference for women (though she'll also settle for nonbinaries and the occasional man). Please don't come after me, my headcanon is not hurting anyone and you will be blocked. Yes, this drawing was done on a math worksheet. No, I did not do the math.

Some T-shirt designs I doodled at school! I'm unsure how many of these will make it onto a short and how many might become stickers or other kinds of fun thing, but all of them will be digitally rendered eventually and there are more on the way.

Look this'll be my second post that's Price-centric but deep in my heart of hearts my fav will always be Gaz. N E WAY here's sum uh maybe AU Price thoughts, totally unrelated to my immortal!Price AU which I will expand on, eventually.

Edit: pt 2/explanation ramblings

It started upon the formation of the 141. After Laswell filed everything they needed and they were all sent out on their first mission together...

It all went to shit.

How he'd fucked up this bad, he wasn't sure but at the end of it all one thing was crystal clear. He was the only one left standing.

Kyle went down first, almost as soon as they had touched down. The enemy had been expecting them, and as soon as the 141 made it into enemy airspace, they were under heavy fire. They bailed from the heli a bit early, and Price thought that that would be that. Just a terrible start to a tough mission.

His ears were ringing now. Sure, that was sort of standard when in the field, but this felt a bit excessive. It was hellishly hot as well, almost like he was actually on fire. Everything was dark, which was odd considering that this wasn’t a nighttime op. Actually, what the fuck was going on?

"Captain!"

And he was up and moving again, being pulled along by...Soap? His vision was still clearing up as he trudged along besides his Sargent. His limbs felt heavy and he was tired. Soap was speaking to him but there was no way he was making out a single word.

It took a few minutes, but Price was able to see and hear and focus properly.

"...Heli was shot down behind us..."

Price did a head count.

One.

Two.

...

Two.

Two?

He looked behind them at the flaming wreckage and then back between Ghost and Soap who immediately seemed to understand who he was looking for. Soap simply frowned and shook his head while Ghost looked straight ahead of him, focused on the task at hand.

No.

This wasn't happening!

This had just started, he couldn’t have already lost one. Not Kyle. Not now. (Not ever if he could help it but that's far more of an unrealistic hope.)

He had to keep on going, though. He still had two left to take care of.

Ghost was next. He took a bullet to the neck for Soap. All Price could do was watch. He wasn't close enough, couldn't pull the two behind cover just in time. He heard it before he saw. Soap's screaming and crying as soon as it happened. Once Price made his way over to where the two were hiding he saw the damage.

"We're all gonna fucking die here!"

They were, weren't they?

After a few minutes, he was able to pry Soap off Ghost's body and the two were moving on.

One.

...

One.

To Soap's credit he nearly made it. They were so close to actually getting out of there that for a brief second Price really believed he'd at least nit failed Soap. But as fate would have it , (that conniving bitch) he went down just like the others.

Soap had been clearing out the last room in the building while Price rummaged around a derelict office for the information that they had come here for when he heard it. Yelling first and then glass shattering. Price ran as fast as he could but when he got to the room Soap had been clearing, it was empty. The window closest to him broken open and upon looking out it he saw two bodies lying limp on the ground.

Seven stories below.

Price finally took a second to let everything sink in.

Fuck.

Zero.

He'd lost all of them.

All of his boys on their first mission together.

Gone.

How did this happen?

How did he fuck this up so bad?

They're all dead because of him!

Fucking hell John, you're a right screw up!

He grabbed onto the ledge of the window, shards of glass digging into his hands, and he shut his eyes tight.

This can't be happening. This can't be!

...

"John?"

His eyes snapped open at the sound of Kate's unmodulated voice.

His hands weren't full of broken glass.

Introductory bit to an idea I had where Price gets a sort of Groundhog Day time traveling ability thing where whenever one of his boys die, he gets a re-do of those events. Very emotionally damaging to the resident father of the 141, but also very convenient. Like come on it's a bit excessive how many NDEs these bitches live through. He normally wears a dark fabric face mask bc the scar pulls on his lips and exposes his teeth a little bit (I am normal I promise I am sooooo normal) and it drys out his mouth and also it makes him look more intimidating which he likes (it's also just one scar running from temple down through both his lips). He has THEE winter soldier stare of all time which terrifies new recruits but also anyone with a healthy sense of self preservation

He joined the British army at 19 (it was 100% an act of self destruction but now he cant leave bc it's all he knows) he specialized as a sniper and joined the SAS at 22, (was captured and tortured (but did not break) at 23 and took a year to rehabilitate before rejoining), and was hand picked by Price to join TF 141 at ~27 (again my math might be wrong but idc).

At some point during this he leveled up to a Sargent which is his current rank.

Looking at the scary brooding man who speaks very little who WILL snarl at you if you piss him off enough you would not guess it but he is a BIG card game fan HOWEVER do not play w him bc he will CHEAT bc hes also very good at slight of hand (and card tricks!!)

Hes literally just a silly little guy with a tragic background and enough trauma for a fucking large city but he tells silly jokes when he warms up to you (but takes a while) and once you have his trust you will have it for life !! You would kill for you without question !! Hes a coffee snob but in the way he'll turn his nose up at anything that isnt literally the shittiest instant coffee you've ever tasted !!

He also has an idle animation of systematically tensing + relaxing muscle groups which earns him some side eyes but no one has the balls to ask abt it <3

Anyways soap was the first person to gain his trust bc that man is relentless it's not his first rodeo (befriended ghost asap), then price (had worked w him prior a few times so he did have a head start), then gaz, then eventually ghost (if you put two private quiet people in a room together they WILL just sit in silence)
