The final room asset of Tammy's (the main character of my upcoming webcomic) that I CAN share. Ooooo, I wonder who these four are?
(I slightly altered the designs so they don't get me in copyright trouble which is why Duck looks Like That)

if i have permission to be a bit of a bitch in your inbox (feel free to ignore this if not), the dichotomy people build between bl and queer media is sooooo fascinating. and of course by that i mean it gives me hives. the universalizing of 'real queer experiences' is obnoxious as hell, but how its been applied to ofts has really shown me why i find it so obnoxious. most of the people who hold this dichotomy would never classify a bl that ignores homophobia as 'authentically queer' media. but i definitely saw people who hoped that the 'authentically queer' ofts would exist in a bubble without any slutshaming, or that it would be resolutely shut down in show. but in my aroallo experience? that would be as inauthentic as the no homophobia bubble, so where does that leave us?
also the circular logic in the bl vs queer media arguments is mind numbing. 'bl doesnt cover these types of themes' yeah dude because you forcibly remove everything with those themes from the bl category in your head. 'queer media must acknowledge homophobia' the idea that a story by queer people about queer characters isnt really queer because it chooses to focus on joy or discovery or any other facet of queer existence is so fucking depressing. go hug a queer friend and think about why you feel queerness is defined by suffering before anything else.
Oh, hey, you found my soap box, Anon! Let me just step on up there with you for a minute.
So, first off, let me just say how much I hate the term “authentically” queer. It seems to suggest that in order to be queer, you have to be queer a certain way. As an ultra femme lesbian, the queer community often makes me feel like I’m not queer enough. That I don’t understand the hardships that come with being gay because I am “straight-passing.” This is the same thing people do to BLs. News flash: if you’re queer, you’re queer. Period. Congratulations, that’s all it takes to be authentic!
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that a large percentage of the people I see using this designation are straight women who think that queer suffering is a necessary part of the queer experience, but a lot of “authentically queer” people—me included—don’t want to be reminded of our real-life suffering every time we turn on the TV. Heartstopper is triggering for me. Bad Buddy is not. As a queer woman currently living in Ron DeSantis’s Florida,  I deserve to be able to turn on the TV every once in a while and not be reminded that there are people in the world who want me dead.
I’ve learned that when people describe a BL as “authentically queer,” what they actually mean is “This BL feels more Western”—the racist insinuation there being that Western media is inherently better.
I feel like The Eclipse is a good example of this hypocrisy. No one has ever called The Eclipse “authentically queer” despite the fact that it delivers one of the most nuanced takes on the dangers of systemic homophobia that I have seen anywhere. The writers of both the source material and the script are gay men. The director is queer. That seems to meet all of the qualifications these people set for “authentically queer” and yet no one has ever questioned that The Eclipse is a BL. Why? Because it incorporates traditionally Asian/yaoi humor tropes such as the pratfall and the accidental kiss.
Are you sensing a pattern? It’s not the queer-ness of a piece of media that determines whether it is seen as “authentic.” It is its “Western-ness.”
Let me be very clear: All BLs are “authentically queer” media because the only requirement needed for a piece of media to be “authentically” queer is for the characters to be queer. And if you don’t like that, then maybe stop watching BLs.
If the people who were producing these shows had a problem with the term, that would be another discussion, but they don’t. P’Jojo has never advertised Only Friends as anything other than a BL. The fandom did that for him. And with all due respect, if the people making the fucking thing are calling it a BL, then it’s a fucking BL.
So, yeah. Not liking BLs doesn’t make you cool. It makes you a bigot. The fact that the term has become so derogatory is rooted in both racism and misogyny because this was originally a genre created by women, for women, and the hobbies of women are so often infantilized.
BLs are queer media. Die mad about it.

LOVE, WATER, FIRE
What is your best writing advice?
"Show don't tell" doesn't mean what you think it does. Learn it better, and free yourself from a half-understood mnemonic.
When you show, you slow. Learn THAT one backward and forward as well; it won't fix pacing issues overnight, but it'll help you understand what causes them.
Writing fanfiction? Go back to the source material FREQUENTLY, or you'll lose all sense of the characters and end up writing someone unrecognizable.
If you struggle to block out action sequences, genuine advice? Think in terms of combat rounds in D&D. Not literally, of course, nobody should be taking rigorous turns, but: Play out the action in your head. If six seconds have gone by, everyone in this sequence should have done something. That thing could be charging into melee range--noting that this extra combatant is running toward the fight but hasn't gotten there yet. It could be reloading a weapon. It could be clutching their side in shock and wheezing. They don't need to be Selecting A Combat Action, but fight scenes become incoherent when you lose track of who's doing what. When you forget about Goon #3 and then have him show up again doing something that doesn't remotely track with where you last left him. YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO INCLUDE THEM IN THE NARRATION if they're not important! If two seconds ago your protagonist kicked a guy off the dock, we can safely assume they'll spend at least the next several "combat rounds" climbing back out. But at any given moment, YOU should know where everyone is, what they're doing, and why.
But most importantly:
Anyone purporting to give The End-All Be-All Writing Advice is either delusional or a scam. Yes, including or perhaps especially famous bestselling authors. What works for them won't necessarily work for you, and there are plenty of people who don't even like their work. You're never going to be whoever's advice you try to mimic. Write your stuff, not theirs.
Do you prefer urban fantasy or high fantasy?
Yes!
Genuinely though. They're both good and they both serve their respective narratives in some way. In general I'm more drawn to high fantasy, personally, but I'm never not going to be interested in a well-done urban fantasy.
Pedantic nitpick though, these things are not the opposites they are being portrayed as. I think what the question was GOING for was actually "low vs high fantasy" which is a completely separate concept. Words mean things! But also, I'm not an ass, and the intent was pretty clear.
(High Fantasy: This story is set in a completely separate world from ours, with no crossover into our known and lived reality. ANY completely separate world, regardless of technology level! STAR WARS IS HIGH FANTASY. This is not an opinion, this is a genre fact.
Low Fantasy: The story is set partially in our world or includes crossover or other intrinsic connections to a realistic world that follows the same rules and expectations of our world. Isekai and portal fantasies like Narnia fall into this category, as do hidden-world/veiled-magic fantasies like the Bad Wizard Lady Books, Percy Jackson, and Artemis Fowl; and also a lot of true-anthropomorphic fiction like Watership Down, Warriors, etc. Note that "low fantasy" does NOT mean "gritty" fantasy or fantasy that focuses on the lower classes instead of nobles, nor does it mean a low-magic pseudo-medieval setting
Urban Fantasy: A story with fantasy tropes and themes that takes place in an urban setting. Can be low or high fantasy!)
What is the worst thing you've ever created?
Okay so this one time in high school me and my best friend Sam were trying to make lemon bars at his house and to this day we do NOT know what the hell ingredient we neglected to add to the lemon bars
but given the state of the results, there is a non-zero chance that the ingredient we forgot was flour.

How do you feel so far about Mahoyo ? And what do you think of its main trio ?
I'll skip to the second question because answering that automatically answers the first. I also try to refrain from including my theories for the following two Mahoyo games since the ask says "so far".
Aoko
The young Aoko is immediately intriguing because she's SO MUCH different from her adult self as we see in Tsukihime and Melty. Her responsible core and penchant for destruction are still the same, but the teen's default expression being a grumpy face instead of the adult's smile is something that speaks volumes about the intensity of the upcoming sequel on her emotional state. The transition from the constrainingly strict school president and mage-in-training to the free-spirited magician vagabond goes beyond the level of growing confident and experienced. It feels more like Aoko was freed from a burden. She broke out of her chains somewhere probably in the third game.
Aoko's best scene is when she's bedridden and explains the worldview that defines her. The young Aoko is a coward who can't stand the thought of disappointing someone. She can't run away from expectations while someone's watching. And there is always someone watching: herself. Aoko lived an unnecessarily harsh life because she forced herself to live up to her own standards, and this forms a stark contrast with how her adult self is so seemingly natural and comfortable with being Aozaki Aoko. It's like she found the version of herself she can never be disappointed with.
Anyways, Aoko's main focus in this one is the conflict against Touko. This clash is the most natural and logical culmination of the persons Aoko and Touko used to be. And honestly, I don't think that's a good thing. Aoko vs Touko just feels too mandated for tastes. There's no emotional depth to it. Aoko is fighting not because she holds any animosity towards her sister but because this kind of mage conflict is customary and she's only a mage because she can't betray expectations. Touko is not fighting not because she's violently envious of Aoko or pissed at her efforts being discarded (she is furious about it, don't get me wrong, but she is mature enough to direct her rage exclusively at her grandfather) but because a mage must seek the Fount and she knows an easy method. It's an idiotic conflict that Tsuki's Aoko and KnK's Touko would never waste their time with.
Disclaimer: My not liking the thing doesn't mean I believe Nasu failed in what he was trying to accomplish. Aoko vs Touko being so procedural is completely intentional. The game has half of a dozen scenes of Soujuurou asking a question about personal reasons, Aoko instead giving an answer about mage tradition, and Soujuurou reacting with an "I'm not sure if it needs to be like this". Even when confronting Grandpa Aozaki, he spells out that the battle was the culmination of then-central elements of both of their characters. It's meaningful and true to the themes upheld by the characters, but that doesn't make it engaging.
Alice
The girl desperately needs those sequels. Seriously.
Mahoyo 1 is roughly split into three arcs. Arc 1 where the goal is to find and kill the witness, Arc 2 where the goal is to convince Alice to spare Soujuurou, and Arc 3 where the goal is to beat Touko. Alice is only there as Beo's jobber in Arc 3, so let's focus on the first two.
Arc 1 Alice is the mage's mage. Throughout its multiple stories, Type-Moon built a solid image of what the standard mage should be like, with all mage characters being defined by how deviate from the standard due to their inescapable human nature, but until the Flat Snark fight, we only see Alice performing the standard with perfection. Which is important to Aoko's arc since Alice serves as Aoko's mage mentor and role model, but doesn't give her much of an identity of her own.
Arc 2 is the one focused on characterizing Alice by challenging Soujuurou to understand her. That arguably didn't happen. Soujuurou simply stumbled on the right answer by saying has a right to hate him.
Alice has issues. Losing her parents and her British home did a number on her. She's not explosive, but is possessive and petty. But the first game makes her too good at hiding her damage. The closest thing she has to a moment of emotional catharsis is the aquarium scene: cryptic words said in a neutral tone.
A big aggravating factor for me is that we know from an in-script to Nasu's proofreader that Soujuurou caught Alice's heart because his "you have a right to hate me" was the same thing her dad said when abandoning her, and how the scene exploring Alice's nostalgia for England went unused in the game. I don't mind Alice being all unanswered questions for game 1 out of 3, but Nasu demonstrably also removed all the hooks that were supposed to make me care about the questions. There's no left in the game proper at this point. Zero reasons to be interested in Alice.
Soujuurou
I don't have much to say about Soujuurou, especially without getting into speculation about his future, but the short of it is that he is perfect. I'm in awe at the versatility of a man who isn't used to civilization. He's Mahoyo's best when it comes to comedy because his not knowing basic things can lead to all sorts of funny misunderstandings. He's Mahoyo's best when it comes to serious discussion because his not having basic things internalized can lead to him asking the sharpest and most unexpected questions about things that could be better but aren't because of elements we're grown to take for granted. Soujuurou's commentary never fails to be impactful because he always shows the lack of logic in what civilization decided to call "natural". His character archetype tends to focus on the angle of a "human with the perspective of a wild beast", but Soujuurou feels a lot more insightful than the typical feral character because he has both perspectives and navigates through a comparison of both worldviews to decide what makes the most sense.

LawLight Polls - Opening January 25, 2024
Please note: this is the starting of the new poll thread. This can be considered a repost of the final re-blog on the initial Lawlight Polls thread. [With additional information at the bottom]
After facing several blockades, I am happy to announce that we are FINALLY KICKING OFF - and things are going to look different.
There will be ONE work vs. work to start off the polls.
The Longfic Lawlight MVPs
The Sweet Taste of Silver by LumiOlivier (Tumblr: @lumiolivierlithium) vs. Passengers by Pyreneese (Tumblr: @pyreneese)
Poll Open Date: January 25, 2024
Special Hashtag: #WintersLawlightBible
Thank you both for interacting/agreeing to participate! Both of your works were fantastic and deserve all the recognition in the world.
Additional big thank you to all authors who replied. I was going to try to find a way to include each other who gave permission/interacted a work vs. work poll - but INSTEAD, I will just be ensuring that they are showcased in the polls yet to come.
As a general reminder, don't be a dick. Fanfiction author's work for free. Read them, give them some love, they are both amazing stories and deserve all the praise in the world.
Read below: Future Poll Introduction/questions that no one asked, but I'm answering anyway
What will the polls look like in the future?
I have changed the format so that the polls will focus on Lawlight tropes. Each poll will have my own recommended Fan Fics in that category, and I will invite others to showcase any stories that they recommend in either of the tropes.
For example:
Politician Light vs. Detective Light
L played a character to trick Light vs. L is exactly the unkempt genius he portrays himself to be
Yotsuba Arc vs. Alternate Universe
This way we can include short fics and longfics all in one. It doesn't require me to have to review and search for tropes in each story (as long as I know the ones that I've read myself) (this is so I don't get overworked again and die).
***To avoid any possibility of thinking that the polls are merely a circular way of comparing two specific works, my own suggestions will always include as many as possible. They are to be used as reference, not as a "one or the other". ***
This was, in my opinion, the best way to respect the majority of author's works and wishes.
From my experience of myself and speaking to other fanfic author's, the idea of people talking about and recommending their fanfic is awesome, but the idea of using it as a competition is unnecessary stress or possible other ick feelings.
From hereforth, I will do my best to have as many discussions and recommendations about Lawlight fic as possible in ways that makes everyone as happy as possible!
How will my fanfic recommendations be included in the polls?
This may change around. When I first had the idea, I wanted to make an indexed list. - obviously when you go on A03 there are tropes and you are able to look things up yourself. However, I wanted to make an index that would help with the themes we might have a hard time explaining.
Such as, "L is playing a part vs. L is actually the weirdo he is as displayed in the show".
All this to say, I want to save them and make record of them, but I don't know how well an actual indexed concept would work. So then - I introduce - HELLO IT WILL BE A MESS BUT I WILL SHOWCASE THEM TO MY BEST ABILITIES.
For each trope, any recommended Fanfictions that came in, they will all be shared along with the final poll Re-Blog.
This will be lined up fairly simple. Trope 1: [List underneath] Trope 2: [List underneath]
What is even the point of your recommendations if others are expected to also share their favourites in that trope?
*huff*. Well - my recommendations will be up there for the polling period in hopes to get the gears rolling.
I feel like after all of this work and reading if I didn't share some of my favourites it would be weird.
I'm an author and I want to recommend my Lawlight fan fiction to be included?
THIS IS IMPORTANT TO ME.
If you are an author and you want your work showcased in ANY of the polls, just reblog this post, or make a post and tag me in it (with the WintersLawlightBible hashtag) saying that you wrote a fanfic and include the link. As long as it is A03, I will read it and include it into as many themes as I find possible.
(Also, if you shared it, and was like - actually, my story also fits in this theme too, but you seemed to miss it. Let me know and I'll add it again.)
I want this event to be something that helps A03 authors.
What can I do to make this work better so everyone can see the most fanfictions as possible?
Leave Kudos and kind comments on the authors works.
Respond/Re-blog with any suggested tropes you may have.
Closing Thoughts
I am excited to start moving forward, hopefully we can turn this stress case of a project into something fun!
I am already working on scheduling the next polls and compiling the proper recommendation lists.
I won't have a set schedule because a roller coaster has less ups and downs than I do - but I will aim to do around one a month.
WOOOT LET'S DO THIS.

Episode 305 - Talkin' Music with shineswithyou
Summary:
Tumblr media
🎧 Find Talkin' Fanfic on your favorite podcast app. Or stream here!
Sara takes (kind of sort of) a break from talking fanfic and bandfic to talk about a different form of storytelling– music, and writing about music! @shineswithyou is a familiar face around Oasis and U2 tumblr, but what you might NOT know is that she has recently embarked on a writing journey of her own, with a substack blog about music and its place as the soundtrack of her own life.
Sara and shines talk about her blog, and the difficulty of “writing words about sounds”; how music is a language in and of itself capable of telling its own (and our own) stories.
Of COURSE we loop it back around to fanfiction and RPF (or, ‘real person fanfiction’), and how bandfic is, at its core, a pure form of love for the musical artist. Other talking points include: how awesome Bono is, and how we wish we could have been at Slane Castle in 2001; the perennial dysfunction of the Gallagher brothers; and the dichotomy of the U2 and Oasis fandoms.

Shmi couldn't sell Anakin's pod-racer because she as a slave couldn't own or sell property.
Honestly, I think George should have just had the Jedi buy Shmi's freedom, relocate her to Dantooine or something and then Palps just arranges her murder by pirates or something to hurt Anakin. It would accomplish the same thing and would have gone a long way in diminishing the "Jedi are pro-slavery" myth.
Qui Gon sold the pod and gave the money directly to Anakin who gave it to Shmi. They left her with a bag of money. (and a bankrupted owner who bet on the wrong pod) Soon after her freedom is bought- if that bag of money wasn't part of it, she still would have had it afterward. That's what we know happened. From there I could speculate that she already knew Cliegg but he couldn't afford the both of them, or something like that. But Anakin's pod money must have been useful to her in some way!
Maybe lucas should have, idk. The whole business of buying a slave's freedom is interesting on a meta level because it's an easy way to help the individual in question but a shit way to dismantle slavery as an institution since it contributes to the problem. It's good business for slavers and incentivizes them to enslave more people. So you sort of end up with a metaphor for helping the most people vs taking care of your loved ones first.
Ideally you find a way to 'steal' them (which is almost what Qui Gon does, first by trying mind tricks and then using gambling as his legal tender which gets borderline tricksy and definitely leaves Watto poorer) But the bomb chips make any kind of illegal liberation very difficult. There's no point freeing someone if they're just going to blow up. And I know Tatooine can come off as sort of lawless but i'd say that's deceptive- the presence of casual violence doesn't mean a slavery isn't enforced at a state level. (slavery requires quite a bit of enforcement) Watto is quick to back off when Qui Gon mentions hutt justice after he challenged Qui Gon's claim to anakin.
Giving her Anakin's earnings, and her buying (indirectly) her freedom soon after, would also sort of fit the theme of jedi playing support rather than hero- it helps her, but in a giving her the tools to help herself sort of way, which seems to often be how jedi operate. So I don't hate that.
I sometimes headcanon that the republic's anti-slavery laws include it being illegal for a republic citizen to purchase a slave, even if you then free them. Idk.
And for that alternative version you mention to accomplish the same effect... again, idk. He still could have gone off the rails at her death it's true, but the story with Shmi in the movies to me kind of adds a depth to his feeling that he has to choose between the jedi and his other family, you know? Like, he felt like he abandoned her by choosing the jedi and that's why she's dead. (I'm not saying that's a logical feeling but it's a feeling). So then when Palpatine convinces him that the only way to save padme is to betray the jedi, it has a sort of echo to it.
Something along those lines, anyway.

Ten years of Noah Caldwell-Gervais
It's remarkable how little the video essays of Noah Caldwell-Gervais have changed over the last decade.
Obviously, there have been some changes.
When I went on a(nother) NCG binge last month, the only difference that stood out to me immediately was the audio—both that NCG has upgraded his recording equipment and that early NCG videos included audio from the background game clips, sometimes loud enough to drown out his commentary. It's a weird choice that I assume he made because he didn't want to speak over dead air and couldn't find any royalty-free music that fit the tone well enough; I'm glad he changed his mind.
When I started looking, I saw other little things. The pace of his dictation has slowed (I want to say by about a quarter?), making his feature-length diatribes easier to parse. Counter to this, his older videos would often play whole cutscenes to display his point. (Not just once in a blue moon, like with that RE5 scene; sometimes twice in a row, like in the AVP vs. AVP vs. ACM video.) While Caldwell-Gervais didn't delve into "traditional gamer complaints" about DLC and "lazy devs" and such very often, their density has decreased over time, as has his willingness to give questionable design decisions a pass for good intentions. Early NCG was less likely to research games he couldn't personally play (his CoD video from 2015 only mentions that he couldn't play CoD 3, for instance). The early videos also had an in-person introduction, while newer videos integrate the important parts of that introduction into the script.
And of course, Noah himself has changed over the past decade—it's been a busy ten years, his opinions about games, their place in the world, and that world have shifted in ways that influence his commentary.
But the more things change, the more they stay the same.
Caldwell-Gervais still writes long video essays about entire franchises, albeit now with confidence that his audience will watch a single video for 3-8 hours if he finds enough to say about a series.
He still weaves all those facts about the game in with what development details he can dig up and context from outside the video game subculture to frame his insights as narratives about the franchises and their creators.
He still talks about highbrow literature-class stuff like tone and theme, contrasted with an obvious love for the lowbrow thrills of shooty bang bang. He still accepts "dumb" games, criticizing them for being dumb only when it clashes with other elements/ambitions of the game. (Or when they really punch the boulder.)
With the exception of a few in-video callbacks, he still avoids in-jokes, irrelevant memes, and other elements which might make his work seem inaccessible to newcomers or dated to latecomers. He'll reference current events and recent releases from time to time, so the videos aren't really timeless, but they're not time-locked, either.
He still focuses on shooters and RPGs, with a strong interest in horror and occasional dips into story-dominated titles and the odd pure strategy game. (Also Western games, notable less for their prevalence in NCG's body of work and more for the fact that he's covered both Red Dead Redemption and Call of Juarez, darn near the only notable video game series set in the Old West.)
He still plays the action games with a level of skill that seems reasonable to me, but which comment section critics say is so abysmal that his opinions about action games shouldn't count (except where they agree with the critic's).
Caldwell-Gervais still references film and other media as comparisons to most games he covers. He still shows affinity for Americana, particularly the arid landscapes of the Southwest, and also Western movies.
He still has a largely positive outlook, focusing on games and series worth praising when he can and looking for the best aspects of even the worst games he covers. To this end, he still tries to find the game's level and meet it there. And yet, when a game fails on every level or aims well below its potential, he will still criticize it for those disappointments.
He still focuses on how the different elements of a game interact, prioritizing that over the sum of his parts. He still likes to point out when mechanics, aesthetics, themes, or plot points that work in one title undermine a very similar work—or contrarily, when things that sank one rescued another. It's all about context.
He's still relentlessly critical of corporate bullshit, whether that's publishers forcing Marketable™ elements into a context that doesn't artistically support them or executives maintaining and concealing an abusive work environment.
And of course, he still starts each video with a shot of some hand-written title card, set to thematically-appropriate music that almost certainly gets every video copyright claimed.
Some things are hard to quantify.
In an absolute sense, the filmography (youtography?) of the infamously hidebound Doug Walker has changed more over the years. But that's the kind of fact that conceals more than it reveals.
Walker adds new tools to his toolbelt and throws new ideas into his productions, but the fundamentals stay the same. He makes the same kinds of complaints, tells the same kinds of jokes, films the same kinds of shots. He doesn't try to improve his media literacy, or his writing, or his cinematography. Or his white-balancing.
Part of why Caldwell-Gervais's old videos hold up so much better than 2013 Walker videos (or 2022 ones) is that Caldwell-Gervais started at a much higher level of quality—fewer moving parts than even pre-Demo-Reel Nostalgia Critic, with every piece mastered. (Except audio.)
But part is that Caldwell-Gervais has improved, and not just with audio. I can't put my finger on it, but something about his writing has changed. His older videos feel more superficial, more focused on the games for their own sake and what works or doesn't work for a given genre or franchise. His newer ones feel like they're trying to be deeper, to go beyond individual video games and use them to say something about gaming as a whole, or even the world beyond.
And unlike Walker, NCG's efforts to Do More are backed by the skill, effort, and attention to detail needed to pull them off. I rewatch NCG's older videos out of a self-destructive sense of completionism, or a desire for familiar background noise. I rewatch his newer videos because they're interesting, even on subsequent rewatches.

Can I ask your top 5 favorite moments each from Jujutsu Kaisen and One Piece? And your top 5 (or top 3) favorite characters from each series?
Ooooh this is going to be difficult for me but I am very happy to! I think I gush about the characters I like a lot on my blog already ajljfljgf so I'll just list the characters, but I'll go more in depth on my top moments for both series. Uhhh major spoilers for both series under the cut.
For JJK, my top five characters are Yuuji, Kenjaku, Yuki, Geto, and Choso (and for a top ten, I would include Gojo, Nobara, Maki, Higuruma, and Mahito).
Ok for JJK, I thought this was gonna be easier but there are really a lot of moments I love, so some honorable mentions: Junpei's death, Yuuji and Nobara vs. Cursed Wombs, Gojo sealed in the prison realm, Yuuji vs. Choso, Nanami's Death, Yuuji vs. Higuruma, Sukuna taking over Megumi (yeah I considered all of these for the list lmao)
Premature Death (Ch. 76-78)
Tumblr media
I certainly enjoyed JJK before this point, but Geto's character arc in Hidden Inventory is where I went "Oh, this is something special." In JJK 0, I was definitely intrigued by him and his relationship to Gojo, but without context, he comes off a little corny with how over the top evil he seems. And then we see him in Hidden Inventory, and he's just this...normal and polite kid? He wants to protect non-sorcerers? But then Riko dies. And the jujutsu system fails him, and his fall from grace is so tragic but also realistic to his character. We see him display this black and white thinking from the very beginning, "Jujutsu sorcerers HAVE to protect the weak non-sorcerers" flipped to "We need to protect jujutsu sorcerers from the non-sorcerers." Geto is a victim, but he doesn't identify the cause correctly. I think he's such a tragic character and really reinforces the themes of JJK so wonderfully, the system failed him (and really every young sorcerer), there was no support, and it really gives weight to Gojo's character and mission to become a teacher and raise strong sorcerers that can support each other.
2. Yuuji and Todo vs. Mahito (Ch. 127-132)
Tumblr media
This is still probably the best fight in the series and it's a really good example of how fights can push forward the characters and themes in a story. JJK loves it's parallels, and one of my favorite parallels is Geto and Yuuji, both looking down at their dead friend and just, breaking from it. Yuuji's resolve just crumbling after seeing Nobara die is so heartbreaking, he isn't able to beat Choso, or suppress Sukuna from wreaking havoc, or save Nanami or Nobara. And it presents the same question that Geto faced with failing to save Riko or defeat Toji. Why is Yuuji a sorcerer? I think that Todo coming into this fight in a support role was a really good choice, where he reminds Yuuji that he still has things and people to fight for, what has he been entrusted with? And Mahito really proves himself to be the best villain in the series here, he's such a good foil to Yuuji and the way that they push each other's character developments is unlike anything I've seen. SO many good and important moments from this fight, and ending with Yuuji's "I'm you" speech? Maybe the best moment in the whole series.
3. Maki vs. The Zenin Clan (Ch. 148-151)
Tumblr media
I'll always stand by the opinion that Mai's death is the best in the entire series and it's not even close. Maki and Mai's story is just so tragic, the way that they grew apart, but then reconciled but only at the end? I think their story is a really good way in how people react differently to oppressive systems, where Maki wants to break free from it and prove that she is strong, while Mai is "happy enough" to live under that system as long as she can have her sister by her side. She doesn't want to face the backlash that standing up for herself will cause. And for their family to turn on them and be willing to kill them in order to uphold the systems of power they have in place? Genuinely evil shit but it's realistic in how they treat Toji, Maki, and Mai, they are all victims of this family. Mai giving her blessing to Maki to "destroy everything" is another contender for top moment in this series, and Maki only being able to gain her full power by losing her sister, the one person she wanted to protect, is so cruel. Maki's character arc is truly one of the best in the series.
4. Yuki and Choso vs. Kenjaku
Tumblr media
So this is the entry I definitely have the most mixed feelings on, I don't love everything about this fight (...namely...how it ended..) but I love A LOT about it so it's still on the list. Every interaction between these characters is endlessly interesting to watch, and I could write an essay on this fight. Yuki and Kenjaku as foils to each other, wanting to achieve the same goal of optimizing cursed energy but in completely different ways. Choso and Kenjaku's fucked up relationship where Kenjaku has been so cruel to, and Choso standing up to Kenjaku to fight for his brothers and starting his new life as a human instead of a curse. Yuki and Choso having to reckon with their humanity and their inhuman nature (star plasma vessel and cursed womb), every dynamic is just so amazing. And that's not to even mention Tengen's dynamic with both Yuki and Kenjaku. So many good character moments throughout this fight and I'm so invested in all four of them.
5. Takaba vs. Kenjaku (Ch. 239-243)
Tumblr media
Sooo the Gojo vs. Sukuna fight was good fun and all, but undeniably I was getting pretty bored of it by the end. It's an alright fight but I think it was stretched out in order to line up Chapter 236 with Gojo being sealed in the prison realm in the anime. I needed something new, and oh man, Takaba vs. Kenjaku was completely unexpected but it blew me out of the water. This is genuinely one of if not the most unique shonen fights I have ever read, and Gege just really seemed to be in his element writing this. Not only is this one of the funniest parts of the entire series, but it does a lot of favors for both Takaba and Kenjaku as characters. JJK is big on duos, and it truly feels like they found their other half in this fight and push each other in new ways. Was the perfect breather before jumping back to Sukuna, and while I'm also not a huge fan of how it ended, there's too much I like about it to leave it off the list.
Ok, now for the hard part with One Piece lmao. For characters, I'm splitting it into a strawhats and non-strawhats list because I think it would be actually impossible otherwise ajfssdklj. For strawhats, my top five are Zoro, Robin, Sanji, Luffy, and Brook. For non-strawhats, it's Corazon, Law, Pudding, Crocodile, and Vivi.
Honorable Mentions: Shank's saving Luffy/strawhat passoff, Zoro vs. Mihawk, Nami's "Help Me", Luffy climbing up Drum Island with Nami and Sanji, Alabasta goodbye, Ringing the Golden Bell in Skypeia, Luffy vs. Usopp, CP9 Reveal, Sanji and Sogeking on the Water Train, Franky backstory, Sogeking shooting down the world gov. flag, Robin's "I want to live", Going Merry funeral, Brook's backstory, Luffy punches the celestial dragon, Boa Hancock's backstory, Ace's death, Luffy "I still have my friends", Fisher Tiger backstory, Kyro's backstory, "Raizo is safe", Brook vs. Big Mom, Pedro's death, Luffy vs. Katakuri, Yasuie's death, Hiyori standing up to Orochi, Oden/Roger backstory, Kanjuro reveal, Sanji asking Robin to save him from Black Maria, Robin vs. Black Maria, Sanji vs. Queen, Gear 5, Kuma and Bonney backstory (this is truly an evil task you've given me I love all of these moments and so many more lmao).
Robin's backstory (Enies Lobby)
Tumblr media
If Water 7 and Enies Lobby counted as a "moment" I would, but unfortunately those are two full arcs lmao so I decided to choose just one aspect to include here. What can I even say that hasn't been said. Robin's backstory just perfectly explains where she comes from, her strengths and her flaws, and makes her character journey and development so special. No wonder she's had a hard time accepting the strawhats help, her entire life she's been an outcast and even branded as a demon just for the knowledge she carries. Her goodbye to her mother and to Saul are heartbreaking, and to see how she spends 20 years running away and not trusting anyone? It makes it so special when the strawhats tell her "You deserve to live, we won't abandon you, we are your friends no matter what and we will help you." Such a good backstory that not only cements Robin as one of the best characters in the series, but is so important from a world building and thematic perspective for the series as a whole.
2. Zoro's "Nothing Happened" (Thriller Bark)
Tumblr media
This moment really cemented Zoro as one of my favorite characters, and is just a moment that has so many layers you can explore (you should check out melonteees recent video "Reframing Nothing Happened" she puts my feelings better than I probably can here lmao). I ultimately find this scene really tragic and scary, but wow does it just highlight Zoro's character development and how much he loves and respects Luffy and the rest of the crew. At the beginning of the series, this is a character who tells Luffy that if he gets in the way of his dream, he'll kill him. We see right before this that Zoro survives a near death experience and is really glad to still be alive, this isn't someone who wants to die. Yet when Kuma comes around, and he realizes he's outmatched, he starts bargaining with Kuma to save Luffy's life. He's not even giving up his dream here, telling Kuma you'll have the head of someone who would have been the best swordsman in the world someday. Him taking out Sanji and protecting him as well, just in this almost quiet anger when Sanji says "you'll have to find a new cook", it's such a good moment as well. Him accepting the pain bubble, it almost killing him, and him saying "nothing happened" because he doesn't want to upset Luffy with the sacrifice? Gahhh I could talk about this moment forever, and it's such a turning point for both Zoro and all of the strawhats I think.
3. Kuma separates the Strawhats (Sabaody Archipelago)
Tumblr media
Contender for one of the most evil things Oda has ever done. This arc is full of so many amazing moments, and it just builds up to this terrifying climax where it feels like the strawhats are just getting hunted down, and each strawhat disappearing one by one just made my jaw drop, I stopped watching One Piece for like five days after this lmao. Luffy's desperation to help his crew and breaking down after, Zoro having this trauma response to Kuma, Sanji noticing and trying to protect Zoro, Brook trying to divert Kuma away, the bubbles popping one by one as each strawhat is sent away? Jesus Christ, I was a mess. And the decision to send away Zoro first, the protector and really just the rock of the crew that everyone can rely on, and Robin last, after going through SO much to try and protect her and to reassure her that she's safe with them? Wow. This moment and the Nothing Happened scene just got even more depth with Kuma's backstory, it's just seared into my brain.
4. Law's backstory (Dressrosa)
Tumblr media
Anon I want you to know just looking at this picture and thinking about Law's backstory INSTANTLY made me tear up lmao, nothing has affected me quite like this in One Piece. Corazon's story and his personality and his just, absolute and unconditional love for Law made me fall in love with this character. He's been through SO much and instead of turning out like his brother because of it, he just becomes this very kind and caring person that wants to protect people from the ruin that Doflamingo brings. And just how Law is this very angry and hurt kid that gets taken in by Doflamingo because he sees Law's anger and is reminded of himself, and Corazon just is able to divert him from taking this path by just genuinely caring for Law, trying to find ANY doctor that will treat Law's illness and then being willing to steal the Op Op fruit in order to save his life? And just...at the end trying to not let Law that he got hurt, hiding Law away and telling him he loves him before facing Doffy, him CLINGING onto life in order to keep the silencing on Law so that he can cry and grieve for Law as he runs away? When I tell you I was SOBBING when Corazon died that's not an exaggeration. Just the pure unconditional love and the found family between them is so beautiful, and the way Law dedicates his entire life to Corazon and carries on his legacy? It just gives me chills.
5. Sanji in Whole Cake Island (...Whole Cake Island)
Tumblr media
Ummm I'm going to cheat here because I'm including Sanji's entire character arc in this entry, but it's impossible to choose just one moment from it. From his backstory, to Sanji vs. Luffy, to finding out about Pudding's betrayal, to him returning to Luffy, to him saving the day with making a cake, everything about Sanji in this arc is such perfection. There are so many layers to this character and similar to Robin, seeing his second backstory really answers a lot of questions about him and where so many of his strengths and his flaws come from, and how Luffy is able to make him realize "We are your family, no matter what we will help you and you matter so much to us." I think the themes in Whole Cake Island about family are so powerful, and exploring them through Sanji was such a brilliant move that really did his character lot of favors, and made him one of the most interesting and dynamic strawhats.
This was a lot of fun for me anon so thank you so much for asking!! I don't know if you were expecting like, and entire essay on jjk and one piece but I'm always happy to provide alkfjslj

alright tell all of us your thoughts about kaito :)
I did not forget… I have just been con crunching but now I’m free to become the worse
Minor Zexal and Arc V spoiling ahoy
How I feel about this character:
Oh no you’ve opened a floodgate… welcome to oversharing hour with Jay
I’m very normal about Kaito, just ignore the two full cosplays + the EVA foam Orbital work in progress I have mapped out, the wall scroll that’s at my work computer, my ita pin bag, and the fact that I’ve done everything I can to make his deck competitive viable and god dammit am I still trying please print this deck a god damn banger starter, Konami, I can’t keep doing this without your help-
Short story but I used to be suuuuper YGO Vrains favoring from 2020 into early 2022, but I found myself drifting from it because one can only tolerate so much subtweeting and catty behavior over personal preferences, and I’d never really finished Zexal before, just has a half baked idea how it ends, like I watched a chunk of it when it first aired but never finished and proceeded to forgot most of it, so I picked it back up after deciding to pick up Kaito to write in an RP server with some friends because I remembered liking him and… well I didn’t stand a chance when I got back to him fjdhdhd
I deeply relate to the theme of self-inflicted loneliness because it’s easier to be by yourself, just getting walked out on, left in the dark, or even being shafted for reasons out of my own control, I really get that
Also taking on too much if it means the people you love will be ok even if the ending result is you’re not ok, where he is after his Duel with Yuma at the end of Zexal I and getting to repair all of those relationships he was damaged by is where I want to get to in life
Bonus fact that’s minor spoilers for another spin off, but I’m… not a huge fan of his portrayal in Arc V, I like that he’s there and acknowledge that it’s a different Kaito and I love all Kaito Tenjos as they exist, including the Structures Cosplayer, but… yeah, not a fan, I’m a big fan of showing vs telling and Arc V to me feels like it’s ALL telling for all of its supporting cast most of the time
All the people I ship romantically
The better question is who I don’t honestly because that list is far smaller, but if I had to pick favorites I’m very partial to Ryouga, Mizael, and Edo-
Something about rivals to lovers resonates with my very being, even if Edo is less of a rival and more of an enemy until Arc V does it’s usual-
I’ve written for Challenge and AntiHero both already actually, my docs is 99% Challenge Wips that are slowly coming along tbh, and GalaxyMaster takes more time to write since most of those are… you know what I’m getting at LOL
I stg Gallop's one mission was to make Kaito Tenjo a dating sim protagonist because I have no other excuse for why they gave him so many boyfriends and even girlfriends across Zexal and Arc V, Yugioh’s surprising most eligible bachelor
My non-romantic OTP
nervous laughter
Chris.
I like to think of them more as divorcees who are just fine staying apart
Also gestures vaguely at the first answer
My unpopular opinion
I don’t know if I have many tbh, besides disliking Arc V’s rendition of him / not liking mentor at all lol— Like maybe how I genuinely believe he’s the strongest rival bc his record was the best even after he was put up against forces behind human understand and was even considered dying majority of the time of Zexal while remaining arguably mostly human, Zexal’s wack
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon
Oh my god, the duel I hate the most in all of YGO is Kaito’s duel against Heartland because not letting Kaito win against someone who’s become representative of the garbage he was put through is SO UNSATISFYING
Yuma coming in and finishing it up is symbolic in its own right because of the importance of bonds, but to me that was and always should have been Kaito’s moment, let Yuma and Astral show up literally any other time and I’m fine with it
ALSO WE DON'T GET THE RYOUGA AND KAITO GRUDGE MATCH, though Kaito solos everytime, I’m so sorry Ryouga

Stimboard Requests
Long post ahead. The gist of it is that my inbox is basically always open and almost anything related to Minecraft is a-okay to request!
Guidelines:
Timing + etiquette
Requests are effectively always open, though I work on them at my own pace. I try to finish and post them within a week of receiving. If you have concerns about whether a request was received or if I'll take yours, just ask. :]
What I'll do
I will make stimboards based on characters, biomes, builds/places, blocks, items, and mobs (regardless of whether they are in the game, in a mod, were a mob vote candidate, or are in adjacent media such as Legends, Story Mode, or a certain Let's Play series). Please be specific if the subject in question is from something less widely known or has shown up in more than one place (eg. Arctic Fur from the Twilight Forest mod, Rendog in Hermitcraft vs. Rendog in 3rd Life (or just Rendog in general)).
What I won't do + caveats
I won't make stimboards for romantic ships, just because I'm not interested. If you'd like to request a duo/trio/etc. for other reasons, feel free. I won't make stimboards based on people behind the scenes (eg. "Arek Lisowski"). I will, however, accept livestream/video personas as characters (eg. VTuber Martyn Inthelittlewood) and lesser-known Minecraft personas can be requested so long as some way of tracking down who you mean is provided for reference.
Assorted notices below:
Do not use requests as a form of promoting your own fics, AUs, headcanons, or other creations.
Brownie points are awarded for including what sort of stims you like or what sort of theme you have in mind (if applicable). Helps me put together the board and helps you get one you'll enjoy! :]
Some of my favorite stims- which may tend to show up more often- include: card shuffling, gears moving, most mechanical things, chalk chopping/shaving, rippling grass, anything related to baking, and wood carving.
If you have any other questions not covered here, feel free to ask. This post will be updated as needed.

I can't pick any of the fe3h questions but I also don't want to say all of them so just pick three that you want to answer
hahaha, ok!! <3 <3
12. favorite activity (tea, fishing)?: I like eating meals with people :)
16. what class would you be if you went to garreg mach?: mage class!! i'd follow the gremory route :) (also confirmed bc lysithea has chronic fatigue & fainting and so do i so this is proof magic class is good for spoonies)
20. unpopular opinion?: I'm using this to hit everyone with a long post and a Hot Take, which is that I think the Verdant Wind route is the True Good Ending of the game. Most people think Azure Moon is, or that Verdant Wind is weak and just a throw away kind of route story wise. I disagree!! and I think the themes present in VW are the ones that lead to the best kind of world for Fodlan.
I also think that VW being the only route where you fight Nemesis isn't some weird oversight on Silver Snow's part, but confirmation that VW is the best ending. A big part of that path is digging out Fodlan's corruption from the roots (the characters have many lines about this, and about the history of the country vs the history they'll be creating; this is also why we have Lorenz the way he is, as a foil to Claude. Old conceptions of nobility vs new possibilities). So having the final battle be the current heroes fighting against the undead 10 Elite is very symbolic of that. The main problem isn't Edelgard. It isn't the church, it isn't even really the Agarthans. The main problem is Fodlan's history. Fodlan's rotten system. Many of these heroes are descended from the 10 Elite, and I love that they are the ones to say no, we will not praise you anymore for your dominance, we will strike you down with the same weapons that you used to take power and to build this unjust world. I also don't think it's a coincidence that VW has the highest number of commoner students (especially when you include Cyril, and consider why he's majorly involved in VW).
At the end of VW, the Kingdom has been razed and the Empire has been brought down. But this isn't where we end, bc Leicester isn't free from it's rotten past either. Leicester is the area that is most hostile to Almyrans after all. So before we celebrate the end, Nemesis comes out from the eastern section of Leicester and cuts through it before getting to Garreg Mach. At the end here all 3 parts of Fodlan have been destroyed, ready to build anew from the ashes, after they go all the way down to the roots and tear them out. I also love the thought that Nemesis never really was killed, he was stored away (potentially the same situation with the Elites). The problems and systems they created were never destroyed by Rhea or by the Empire or anyone else. They were just dormant underground the entire country, the whole time. And having Claude, a mixed race man and an initial foreigner to Fodlan, lead this route into his new dawn is smart too. It takes someone who is invested, but was raised outside Fodlan, to be the one who's curious about finding answers, who's questioning not just the church system but the country's value system as well. It takes him to finally be able to see the problems below. And at the end, the doors of Fodlan do open to the outside world. They're healing, reaching their hands out and choosing to rebuild into a better future.

NCERT Solutions Class 11 Hindi Summary
Students in class 11 will come across some of the best writers and some of their best inventions as part of their curriculum. Munshi Premchand is an example of such a writer. Among his significant works are ‘Karmabhoomi,’ ‘Kafan,’ and ‘Godan.’
Dhanpat Rai Srivastav, also known as Munshi Premchand, was born on July 31, 1880, in the village of Lamhi, near Varanasi. In his early education, he studied Urdu and Persian before moving on to a missionary school to study English. Munshi Premchand’s mother passed away when he was eight years old. His father interfered with his studies after 9 years. He moved on to become self-sufficient by attending tuition, and in 1900 he was hired as an assistant teacher at a government school.
He began writing fiction there. And, while he continued to work at various occupations, he also continued to write. NCERT Class 11 Hindi ‘Eidgah’ is one such narrative. Munshi Premchand wrote this story while living in Gorakhpur. The concept for this narrative was inspired by Gorakhpur’s Eid fair. While India was fighting for independence, this tale focused on the country’s farmers and labourers.
Summary of Namak ka Daroga
The story’s central theme is the value of honesty. The narrative takes place during the British era, when salt was excessively taxed and people essentially began smuggling it to make large profits.
Munshi Bansidhar is a young man from a low-income family. His father believes that any additional revenue above his small wage is a gift from God. And this additional money can alleviate all of their financial concerns. Munshi Bansidhar accepts a position as a salt inspector in the government’s salt department on the suggestion of his father. Despite his father’s advice to accept bribes, he decided to be an honest person, an honest officer.
Munshi Bansidhar notices vehicles crossing the Yamuna River for smuggling purposes one night on a bridge across the river. He opposes, and the owner, Alopi Deen, offers him a high payment for letting him leave, but Munshi Bansidhar is determined about his decision. Instead of accepting the money, he chooses to be a trustworthy government official. Alopi Deen is a highly wealthy person with enormous power over the native community and government authorities, yet it is a different story that he did not persuade Munshi Bansidhar. He detained Alopi Deen.
Alopi Deen paid the judiciary throughout the trial, and in exchange, Munshi Bansidhar was transferred on the allegations of misbehaving with him by demonstrating his official power. Munshi Bansidhar’s honesty and integrity are harmed as a result of this episode, and he returns home with regret. His father is quite dissatisfied with him. He anticipated him to accept a bribe and become wealthy, but he did the opposite.
Alopi Deen unexpectedly visits his home one lovely day and offers him the post of manager of his money, with advantages such as a bungalow, maids, and other benefits. The story’s ending was a little predictable, but the message it conveys is quite strong.

Going Seventeen Episodes (For MK)
Going Seventeen 2019
(Go with fan-subbed ones for 2019, not the official SVT channel, the subs are half-assed)
*** Only included the episodes that have a similar feel to 2020 & 2021
Ep 3 - 4 || Half-skit, half planning session for GOSE as a variety show instead of behind the scenes camera. Members pitch their ideas to the group.
Ep 6 - 7 || Writing and recording GOSE theme song, as well as making a music video for it entirely directed by members.
Ep 10 - 11 || SVT goes to a farm to learn about milk production. Other members learn about coffee production. Who will kill Hoshi first: The Milk crew, or the Coffee Crew?
Ep 12 - 13 || Exploring New York City during a free day on tour. Members film themselves hitting various tourist attractions and Wonwoo buys a stuffed cat that is probably demonic.
Ep 14 || MBTI typing & what it means. Seungkwan is betrayed by Beyonce personally.
Ep 15 - 16 || MBTI mannequin hidden camera prank. Members are put into a room one by one and told to fill out a questionnaire about a future GOSE camping episode. The lights go out and they come to realize (some sooner than others) that the mannequins in the room are actually people. Which members will keep their cool and which leave puddles behind?
Ep 17 - 18 || Noraebang (Karaoke) Escape Room. They have to get 100 points on a song in order to - oh... they did that immediately... After much begging from the Crew to rewrite the rules, Seventeen must solve puzzles to escape the Escape room... that they already escaped.
Ep 19 - 20 || Wonwoo No-Logic Debate Night. Seventeen are given a series of ridiculous questions with ridiculous positions each team must take and debate the other team into the ground. But there is a catch:: Any member making sound, logical arguments will be punished.
Ep 21 - 23 || TTT at the camp ground. Members are brought to a camp ground, given free reign to do whatever they want-- until Joshua eats a cursed macaroon and it turns into a series of games vs the Crew that will test just how comfortable that camp ground will be.
Ep 24 - 25 || Playground games. Seventeen unleash their inner 5 year olds (like that's hard) and play the games they loved as children, including "The Floor is Lava" and variations on Hide and Seek.
Ep 25 (end) - 26 || Woozi’s Black and White Santa Hell. Half the members are "Black Santa" sent to torment Woozi, the rest are "White Santa", meant to uplift him. If he can figure out which is which, he will win presents that may or may not contain an iPad.
Ep 27 - 28 || Planning out GOSE 2020 content (back before anyone knew everything would be locked down). Members pitch their ideas for future content and Hoshi curses out Siri.
Going Seventeen 2020
Due to his mental health problems, S.Coups was absent for the beginning chunk of GOSE 2020. Episodes he appears in are noted specially.
Ep 1 - 2 || Members eat traditional holiday foods, with a challenge on each dish ranging from bizarre utensils, ingredients, and even chew volume.
Ep 3 - 4 || Mafia Game #1 (With S.Coups) - Seventeen combine the popular Korean Mafia Game (identifying which 3 members are mafia killing off the rest) with a treasure hunt, where cold, hard cash has been hidden by the "mafia", and the real-world money prize increases as the mafia or citizens advance.
Ep 5 - 7 || Boo Seungkwan’s Past Life Destiny, members try to seduce each other to form couples and compete for absolutely nothing. With no prize but bragging rights on the table, members will put their bodies on the line to prove THEY'RE the best couple in SVT.
Ep 8 - 9 || Players with the most consistent heart rate over 3 minutes get to go home first. But this is Seventeen, so of course they try to sabotage one another by talking about them and telling embarrassing stories or outright lies to ramp up that heart rate.
Ep 10 - 11 || Academic competition to find the smartest member- and it isn't who you'd expect...
Ep 12 - 13 || Escape Room shenanegans- 4 groups of members are put into 4 different escape rooms and must solve the puzzles in order to leave. The speed each team escapes will determine their starting order for Episodes 27 & 28.
Ep 14 - 15 || Members bussed around Seoul at night to try delivery food from many places and a variety of cultures. But since they're Seventeen, they also compete to see who can come up with the dumbest explanation on the origins of each food.
Ep 16 - 17 || Human Chess, where members of SVT control one another and must compete various mini-games to decide if a chess piece is taken (S.Coups is back from now on!)
Ep 18 - 19 || Wonwoo’s No-Logic Debate Night #2- dumber questions, dumber positions to take, and more ridiculous logic-free debate from SVT.
Ep 20 || Starts as a reward for the winning team of Human Chess, quickly turns into a family-style meal with SVT members cooking for each other. That's it. No joke or strings. Just a wholesome family dinner.
Ep 21 - 22 || Mario-Kart esque shenanegans at a little 4 wheel bike track complete with force-fed bananas, squirt guns, and Jeonghan cheating.
Ep 23 - 24 || Each member is assigned a character to maintain while auditioning for Pledis. All members strapped with shock devices that go off if they laugh. S.Coups, Jeonghan, and Seungkwan are the judges.
Ep 25 - 26 || Epic game of follow-the-leader with each member taking the lead.
Ep 27 - 28 || Horror-tag in a “haunted” office building with crew acting as murderers... and locksmiths when one group breaks a door and realizes it's a little harder to break down than movies suggest (RIP Woozi's shoulder).
Ep 29 - 30 || Christmas in August is celebrated by the members dividing into 3 rooms and playing video games for a chance to leave early. The thermostat is cranked up, and members must pick the right combination of tricky choices in order to get the food and drinks they want.
Ep 31 - 33 || 9 members of Seventeen hunt through a grain storage complex to try and capture 4 hiding members born in the Year of the Rat. If they can fully drench the white circle on their stomach with dyed water, they take the Rat prisoner, but each Rat has special skills (some wholly made up) that let them get away.
Ep 34 - 35 || Half-skit, half-murder mystery. Members have characters to maintain while trying to figure out who is the murderer before the lights go off and someone is killed. In this edition, a CEO mysteriously dies and suspects have gathered for a meeting.
Ep 36 || The members are at a play park “inside” Seungkwan (who is absent). While playing and having fun, they must imitate the last emotion called out by Seungkwan, no matter what they're doing.
Ep 37 - 38 || Seventeen plays forbidden word games and the losers have to bungee jump. That's it- it's pretty simple- but a lot of fun.
Ep 39 || Awkward pauses, chaos, and a full-member confrontation with the production crew. The episode was produced last minute and doesn’t really have a theme other than “awkward”. Joshua becomes the ONLY member of Seventeen fired as a host.
Ep 40 - 41 || Mafia Game #2: Police Themed - Seventeen's mafia game/treasure hunt returns, this time in a police station where members must also find tiny handcuffs hidden throughout the building. If you're looking for the mafia game that includes Hoshi's infamous complete psychotic break- look no further! And maybe stand a safe distance away... he might bite...
Ep 42 - 43 || Members play physical games against random members of the film crew, including foot volleyball, tug of war, and bottle flipping contests. The loser has to rent a catering truck (a pledge that will go unfulfilled for a year).
Ep 44 - 45 || TTT: Alcoholism Edition. Members are taken to a large MT rental building and given wholly free reign to do whatever they want with zero limitations. With Hoshi leading the charge, they quickly get plastered and DrunkTeen is born.
Ep 46 - 47 || A member-produced photoshoot and party to celebrate the end of 2020. Members act as photographers, stylists, hair, and BooSeokSoon are in charge of a DJ Booth (And whoever thought that was a good idea was probably strangled by the members later).
Going Seventeen 2021
** With COVID restrictions easing, Jun and Minghao returned to China for a 5 month span the last bit of the year (Jun also filmed a drama). Their final episodes of GOSE are noted, though they do make little phone-in appearances afterwards.
Ep 1 - 2 || Members are again given characters and strapped with elecronic devices to shock them if they laugh. This time they must plan content for Going Seventeen 2021 and Jun draws something naughty on the whiteboard.
Ep 3 - 4 || It is 12 vs 1 as all members try to stop Jeonghan from winning a game whose rules are so confusing no one really knows what the hell is going on- just that Jeonghan cannot be allowed to win.
Ep 5 - 6 || SVT is unleashed upon an inflatable obstacle course, where they fight to sabotage each other and win nothing.
Ep 7 - 8 || A treasure hunt on a deserted island (no, really). S.Coups and Jeonghan quickly abandon the quest when they find a fully loaded BBQ lunch- but have they fallen for the crew's distraction, or did they accidentally discover the treasure early??
Ep 9 - 10 || Mafia Game #3: Hotel Themed - Once again members gather to find the money and destroy the mafia Hoshi first, not because they think he's mafia, but because of his psychotic break the last time.
Ep 11 || A series of products are set out that members must come up with weird commercials for to try and solicit advertisers for the show. The only rule is that they can't use the product for as it is actually intended to be used.
Ep 12 - 13 || A spinning wheel and a nerf gun tell the members where they are going, what missions they must complete, and if they’re allowed to laugh or not. The losing team has to stay late and give the crew their closing slate.
Ep 14 - 15 || For a day the members become rice farmers. To escape the hell of rice patty planting, they have to win games. Those winners lord it over the ones working below.
Ep 16 - 17 || Kickball match pits member against member, with sabotages including water-balls, dinosaur costumes, and scooters.
Ep 18 - 20 || TTT: Water Games Edition. Members are taken to a lake for their 2021 trip to wakeboard, tube, and play other games. Less drinking than 2020, but they'll get there eventually!
Ep 21 - 22 || Wonwoo’s No-Logic Debate Night #3 - This time the teams change per question, as members fight to take ridiculous positions on ridiculous questions and all logic is strictly prohibited.
Ep 23 - 24 || Seungkwan acts as host to re-create old game shows. It's Team Tiger vs Team Camel (Hoshi vs S.Coups) for Screaming in Silence, charades, and other games.
Ep 25 - 26 || A stock-themed tag game throughout an empty office complex. Some members have + values, some - , whichever team wins the most points after 3 rounds (or bribes the crew best) wins. ** These are the last episodes with Jun and Minghao for the season.
Ep 27 - 28 || Members are put in an abandoned building in groups of 2, with the building done up to look like some form of mad scientist lair. A horror escape room, basically, done in teams of 2. As teams are killed, they can leave behind a single photo and sentence as clues to the next in line.
Ep 29 - 30 || Once again members are strapped to heart monitors as they pretend to sleep through other members sharing embarrassing stories. This time SVT competes against the crew- if the crew win any of the rounds, that group of them can leave (Camera, Audio, or Lighting), and SVT must fend for themselves.
Ep 31 - 32 || School games including red light, green light, desktop tennis, and more.
Ep 33 - 35 || As punishment for relaxing during the Treasure Hunt (eps 7 & 8), Jeonghan and S.Coups must run a restaurant and feed the members of SVT. They can recruit 2 to be their kitchen helpers.
Special Episode || SVT watches clips from past GOSE episodes (2019 - 2021) and recount their memories of shooting those episodes or scenes. They also talk about which ones they'd like to do a sequel to.
Going Seventeen 2022
*** For some reason, GOSE 2022 continued the episode numbers from 2021 rather than start from #1 again.
Ep 36 - 37 || Members must individually come up with their version of "The best way to eat white rice", including skits, stunts, and homecooked meals. Note: The rice used in this episode was harvested from the field members planted in GOSE 2021 Ep 14 & 15.
Ep 38 - 39 || Members warm up and eventually have a competition where they race in teams of 2 to push cars in neutral gear along a deserted road as quickly as they can.
Ep 40 - 41 || A day in the quiet life of “Mr Seventeen” (each member individually acting out 20 minutes of ‘down time’ while the others give commentary from a nearby room).
Ep 42 - 43 || At long last, Jun and The8 have returned from China to join SVT for bowling while adjusting their emotions to whatever the last one called out was. A sequel to GOSE 2020 ep 36.
Ep 44 - 46 || Members duke it out in a triathlon of gaming. Three games, four teams, one prize of 3,000,000 won (roughly $2,400).
Ep 47 - 48 || The Idiot Olympics- Seventeen compete at several outdoor track games, but with a catch: only the person who comes in second place overall wins. Members are given a secret mission to make Wen Junhui the winner- but if he figures it out, the others don’t get any prizes.
SPECIAL || SVT members demonstrate short form games of Don’t Lie, Debate Night, and Insomnia Zero with the host of youtube talk show MMTG, whom they partnered with for altogether three episodes (only one of which is considered a Going Seventeen episode).
Ep 49 - 50 || Three pods of members, three separate format radio shows. While Mingyu leads an advice session, S.Coups leads a bitch-about-members session, and the Rocket Duo (Joshua and Vernon) teach English to Dino and Jeonghan.
Ep 51 - 52 || Revisiting 2019 Ep 14, the members take various personality tests to see exactly what’s wrong with them how things may have changed from the past to now.
Ep 52 - 53 || The members separate into two teams for a hybrid form of Hidden Objects meets Hide and Seek. All beware Hoshi on the prowl...
Ep 54 - 55 || Documentary filmmaker Wonwoo wanders around a bizarre Korean village filled with wannabe celebrities, aliens who shake armpits (as well as the human subtly hunting them), and other strange characters as Seventeen live out an hours-long sketch of their own design.
Ep 56 - 57 || Christmas in August returns, with members grouped into four rooms to play horror-themed video games. ** Nervous viewers do not need to worry, they show members faces during jump scares, not the scary bits themselves.
Ep 58 - 59 || In a hybrid mix of some previous content (2021 3 & 4, 2021 25 & 26), Seventeen are each given 10,000,000 won and told to bid on art. Whoever has the most assets at the end of the game wins. Cue bargaining and betrayals as members team up to claim the prize.
Ep 60 - 61 || The members do parodies of visual radio broadcasts. Mingyu's group gives advice (and drives him insane), S.Coups' crew plays "Would You Rather" (which quickly devolves into a Member vs Member bad habits competition), and Joshua & Vernon attempt to teach Dino and Jeonghan English.
Ep 62 - 64 || In a sequel to GOSE 2020 34 & 35, members are once again thrust into a murder mystery, where they have to catch the culprit before the lights go out and members begin to die off.
Special Episode || A sequel to GOSE 2021 ep 31 & 32. The members descend on a school playground to play childhood games, including a new take on dodgeball, where members can survive being hit if they strike a pose fast enough.
