Instead of writing a reported piece or a straight-on review of “j-hope IN THE BOX,” this is going to be more of a personal recollection of how this documentary made me feel, which is a wide array of emotions ranging from happy, to proud, to weepy. By the time the end credits rolled with this final message — “Special thanks to our biggest voice, ARMY” — I was more than a bit verklempt.

“j-hope IN THE BOX” is told in a non linear way, starting in Seoul 52 days before j-hope’s performance at Lollapalooza, where he made history as the festival’s first Korean headliner — a feat that even he found surprising. The lead up to the concert — which fans dubbed Hobipalooza — depicts the meticulous plans the rapper took to ensure that his official debut as BTS’ first solo artist would be nothing short of perfection.

I will get into some of those elements in a bit, but I wanted to talk about some of the moments that meant the most to me first. There’s so much that BTS already shares with their ARMY. But one of the things the group holds most precious is their relationship with their family, who they shelter from the world’s eyes as best as they can. So when they do allow us to take a peek at the time they spend with their parents (even if the parents are off screen), it’s a precious and personal gift.

The fact that Young Woo led the charge and insisted upon finding the chef/owner just for Attorney Jung. The fact that she waited behind for him so he wasn’t walking alone and tried to offer words of support, to try tell him that his life’s efforts weren’t a waste. The fact that she’s the reason that Attorney Jung can smile so brightly near the end of the episode.

Her words and actions may miss the mark sometimes, her love and care may be clumsy at times, but hers is the one that runs the deepest and is the most genuine.

Beyond Words

You gasped at the signature in front of you. You couldn't believe that it was positive, how could it be positive?

You wondered as you kept looking at the pregnancy test. No, this could be real you both were careful. You and Jimin didn't plan on having a family just yet, you've barely been married. In fact you've just gotten back from your honeymoon.

Your hands were shaking, how were you going to tell Jimin?

Your back was facing the door as there were thought that kept running through your mind.

Jimin was behind you, as he just gotten back from a trip with the boys. He wanted to grab you and kiss you from behind, making you giggle like he always did as he did this action. But the moment he reached you to do this action, he stopped as he saw the test in your hands. Looking closer, he saw the positive mark as he made a loud gasp you turned fast not knowing what to do.

Y/n: J...Jimin? What are you doing here?

Jimin: We came home early. What's that?

Y/n: N...nothing.

Jimin: Jagi. He said, as he sat next to you. Give it to me. He spoke, as he held out his hand.

Looking down, you placed the test in his hand as you shifted further away.

Jimin: Positive? Wow. This is big.

Y/n: Jimin, I'm sorry...i know we didn't plan on doing this right now b-

Jimin: Jagi, this is hardly your fault. We both participated in those all those night, days, afternoons together. He said, looking at you with a smirk which caused you to hit him.

Y/n: Jimin.

Jimin: What? I can't do those things with my wife? Or talk about them? He questioned, as he moved closer.

Y/n: N...no. Not...we...we should talk about the test. You swallowed, making Jimin sigh.

Jimin: Okay. Should I tell you how I really feel?

You nodded, as he picked you up and placed you on his legs.

Jimin: I'm more than exited about this, im over joyed that I'm going to be a father. Yes, the timing is unexpected since we didn't plan when we'd like to have children. But yet, here we are. It's a blessing, we have a blessing and I wouldn't want it any other way.

Y/n: Your happy? You asked, as you ran your hands through his hair.

Jimin: Having a mini you or me running around, I think we can make that work. Don't you?

Y/n: I do. What do you think the guys will be happy?

Jimin: Oh, them. They'll be spoiling the baby more than we do. Expecially Taehyung, he loves babies. I've never been this happy...exept for the day you said I do. He laughed, as he leaned in and kissed your neck.

Jimin's warm lips felt wonderful on your lips, the soft skin kissing lower and and lower until he reached your chest.

Y/n: Mmm...Jimin I...

Jimin: Mmm? He asked as he looked up again.

Y/n: We can't.

Jimin: Why not? He whispered, as he kissed your neck yet again. We're married. He said, as he pulled you closer as your legs were on either side of his waist.

Y/n: Yes...but aren't the guys coming over?

Jimin: Yes. But they aren't coming until later. So, we have a little time to celebrate. He smiled, as he kissed your cheek.

Ho-seok/J-Hope: Not really.

Getting a fright, you looked over Jimin's shoulder to see all the boys standing there smiling.

Y/n: How long have you been standing there?

Namjoon/RM: Since we heard you were pregnant. We were outside the door, we wanted to scare you both but then we heard everything...i guess congratulations are in order.

You jumped off Jimin's lap, and stood near the window.

Y/n: I...thank you Namjoon.

Taehyung/V: I'm going to be an uncle?

Seok-Jin/Jin: Yes Tae, we all are going to be uncles.

Taehyung/V: I'm going to be an uncle. He repeated, as he started crying.

Your eyes shot wide, as he ran over to you and ingulfed you into a hug. He cried into your shoulder, as you heard the others laugh at him.

Y/n: It's okay Tae, don't cry. You said, as you patted his back.

Taehyung/V: I'm sorry. I...I'm just so exited. He said, wiping at his tears.

Yoongi/Suga: Congratulations sis. He smiled, down at you as he gave you a kiss on the fore head.

Y/n: Well, I was going to tell you first...but then you heard it at the same time as everyone else.

Yoongi/Suga: Seeing that I'm your older brother, I would've prefered you telling me first after telling Jimin. But finding out with the rest is fine with me, as long as your happy that's all that matters.

Jimin: Agreed. Her happiness, is all I care about...well her and the babies.

Jungkook: The baby is barely even a bean size at this point.

Ho-seok/J-Hope: True, but that doesn't matter Jimin is just getting used to saying that Kookie.

Jungkook: Oh.

Jimin: Now, could you all leave please I want to spend some time with my wife. Jimin said, as he wrapped his arms around your waist kissing you behind the ear.

Taehyung/V: Awe...no gross. He shut his eyes, as he tried to get away.

Y/n: No. We invited them for dinner, and that's what we shall have. I made all the favorites and it can't go to waist.

Jimin: Jagi, can't they just take it home to the dorm?

Y/n: No. Jimin stop being shellfish.

Jimin: I'm not being shellfish if I want to have a little special time with my wife, after I haven't seen her in two weeks. What's so wrong about that? Please, Jagi, I-

Yoongi/Suga: I forgot we had other plans tonight. We'll take the food to the dorm, you both have a nice evening. Yoongi spoke as he pushed everyone out of the room.

Namjoon/RM: Okay everyone, we have 5 minutes to get the food and get out of the house. He said, as the bedroom door closed. Now let's get moving. Clapping his hands together, everyone running off to get everything and get out.

All the food were in the bag, when they heard a loud laugh.

Seok-Jin/Jin: Isn't that Jimin's laugh?

Ho-Seok/J-Hope: Yes.

Jungkook: My baby ears, can't hear this. We need to leave fast.

Grabbing all the food, they were uit faster than lightning. Upstairs Jimin, was kissing your shoulder as he moved to your stomach. Kissing your stomach slowly, he pulled away as he gently rubbed his thumb om it.

Jimin: I'm so looking forward, to seeing this beautiful miracle.

Y/n: Jimin?

Jimin: Yes?

Y/n: How about tomorrow, after seeing the doctor we go and look at some baby things. Would that be a lovely couples date?

Jimin: That sounds perfect. Now, could you stop talking please, I want to kiss those beautiful lips of yours.

Shaking your head, you couldn't help but giggle as Jimin kissed you his hands moving up your back as he uncliped your bra. Removing his shirt, your hands traced over his toned chest to his abs making him smirk.

Jimin: Like what you see?

Y/n: I do. Do you like what you see?

Jimin: More than you can ever imagine.

Time skip

You were still sleeping in the arms of Jimin, his warm chest going up and down as his breathing was still and calm. You smiled up at him, thinking of how lucky you truly were.

But after a second you jumped from the bed, running towards the bathroom as you started puking. Hearing this, Jimin ran in after you and saw you flushing the toilet.

Jimin: Jagi, you okay?

Y/n: Just one of the many things I need to get used to, now that I'm pregnant. You replied, brushing your teeth.

Jimin: I'm sorry babe. He said, as his arms wrapped around your waist as he kissed your shoulder.

Y/n: Why should you be sorry? I'm happy about this...though slightly scared but very exited. You responded, as you draped your arms on his shoulder.

Jimin: Really?

Y/n: Yes. I do hope it's a boy though, I would love to have a handsome, smart, funny, loving, little man like you running around in the house.

Jimin: Although a boy sounds great, I think a girl would be even better.

Y/n: No. We can't argue about this, I've always dreamed that when I have children it would be a boy first...so I hope you hope it's one too.

Jimin: Okay, for you I'll change my mind and wish for a boy. Since my wife what's a boy, I guess I have no choice. He smiled, as he lifted you from the floor and carried you to the bed. Now, how about a nice relaxing sleep. He spoke nuzzling you closer to him.

In addition to “Crash Landing on You”, my girlfriend and I started watching “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”, a k-drama that my parents wanted me to watch since I’m in law school. It’s a pretty fun show, but I just want to highlight this one part:

“People can score well just by having great memorization skills. I need an attorney who can meet with clients and go to trials.”

The show roasted the entire premise of “Suits” in two lines. Side note, if we’re to continue the “Suits” comparison, Young-woo is Mike, Jun-ho is Rachel, and Myung-seok is Harvey.
