padawan to jedi to clone war general to inquisitor au timeline:
45 BBY: tristan patel is born.
42 BBY: the jedi order comes to his birth family’s door after discovering that he is force sensitive. tristan’s biological father is eager to let his troublesome child go with the help of a few credits.
41 - 33 BBY: as a jedi initiate, tristan is trained in cobra clan with a group of approximately 20 other students in the ways of the force. he struggles maintaining his emotions, which causes concern for several of the jedi masters. however, he possesses enough power and raw talent, and demonstrates enough progress, that he is permitted to continue.
33 BBY: tristan participates in the initiate trials and catches the eye of master seneca kappel, who takes him on as his padawan.
33 BBY - 23 BBY: tristan remains master seneca’s padawan. his master is a bit more “ hands-off ” in his training than most masters with their padawans — but, regardless, always seems to know what tristan has been up to, so there’s at least an understanding from tris that he’s being watched most of the time he isn’t directly at his master’s side. not that this improves his behavior ; if anything, he acts out in subtle ways, including eventually beginning an arguably reckless romantic entanglement with naval academy student and eventual senator’s aide cassian jeron andor, of which his master vocally disapproves but somehow still tolerates.
23 BBY: master seneca finally permits tristan to complete his jedi trials and takes him to the jedi temple on lothal to do so. despite struggling immensely with three of the nine steps — namely teamwork, anger, and forgiveness — tristan ultimately passes the trials and is knighted, just in time to see the galaxy descend into chaos the following year when the clone wars begin.
22 BBY: as a fully fledged jedi knight, tristan is made a general and placed in charge of his own troops, despite his misgivings. he struggles tremendously with leadership, and at times, his men doubt him. he seeks the counsel of his master, but finds far greater assistance in the advice of his secret lover, now a naval captain with a born knack for command and attracting loyalty. gradually, his leadership improves, and although he knows he will never be any truly great leader, his men begin to trust him more.
22 - 19 BBY: tristan and his men fight through the duration of the clone wars, often alongside captain andor’s troops, and all the while, he yearns for a swift end to the war, gradually disenchanted with battle and republic rhetoric and the orders issued by the jedi council. in his weaker moments, he asks his lover to run away with him, knowing they’d never make it without being executed as defectors — and knowing he would never agree.
19 BBY: tristan receives a visit from his old master while stationed with his troops on kashyyyk. master seneca confirms reports that general kenobi has gone to engage general grievous on utapau and that the war will soon come to a close. he also informs tris that captain andor has been revealed as a separatist and traitor, and that he expects tristan to arrest or, if necessary, kill him, because he's the one person who might be able to get close enough to do so. tristan first refuses to believe this information, then patently refuses to complete the task whether or not the information is true. the argument escalates until both men simultaneously sense a vast disturbance in the force. unbeknownst to both of them, order 66 has begun, and within moments, tristan's clone forces have turned on them. master seneca see his chance and abandons his former padawan without a glance back. it is only by a stroke of the most unlikely fate that tristan manages to escape with only the clothes on his back, his lightsaber, and a number of nasty blaster burns. although he is unable to piece together what actually happened until weeks later, he knows he is on the run. in reality, through all official channels, jedi general tristan patel is presumed dead.
19 - 17 BBY: he is a fugitive with no friends and no resources, merely surviving, flying under the radar and terrified to reveal even a fraction of his identity for fear of being discovered by vader and his inquisitors. he managed to flee kashyyyk to the outer rim and inhabits mostly desolate planets, foraging for most of his food, and trying to stifle his connection to the force as much as possible for fear of being discovered. he has surmised that the few allies he may have had, including captain andor, are dead.
17 - 16 BBY: tristan's greatest fear is realized and he is captured by lord vader's inquisitors on the outer rim planet of vaal in the gordian reach, where he had made a temporary home for himself in a remote area of the vast savannah there. after a fight, and despite expecting death, he was taken to the fortress inquisitorius, where he spent the next year incarcerated. throughout this time, the inquisitors, purge troopers, and some empire scientists interrogated, tortured, and performed experiments on him in a calculated effort to break his will. while tris finds himself tormented and hopeless during this time, the most prevalent emotion is rage. eventually, he realizes that he can use this rage to make it appear as though he's fallen completely to the dark side - which he does successfully.
16 BBY - 4 ABY: tristan becomes a full inquisitor, the eleventh brother, and for the next twenty years of his life, must hide in the lion's den, shielded from detection amongst his own ranks of force users by his unpredictable anger, which effectively eclipses his intentions of revenge and sabotage of the empire after having everything taken from him. unfortunately, this gamble of his opens a dangerous door that leads him down the path of actively fighting descent to the dark side as he balances the use of his rage for his own protection and the protection of the eventual rebel networks to which he feeds information, and attempts to pull himself away from the precipice of being consumed by darkness completely. throughout this time, he probably saves hundreds or thousands of lives - but is also forced to do countless things he never wanted to, all of which pull him further toward an edge from which he fears he can never return.
TIMELINE BETWEEN 16 BBY AND 4 ABY UNDER THE CUT:
15 BBY - 6 BBY: tristan successfully makes contact with two different rebel forces: saw gerrera's partisans and bail organa's resistance network. he uses the alias of viper to send the appropriate information to each faction, namely assisting gerrera's partisans in identifying the most effective times and places for empire sabotage and delivering the names of force sensitive and other vulnerable individuals, as well as potential spies, to organa's network for rescue or recruitment. for almost a decade, he manages to ferry information under the radar. nobody suspects on either side that the eleventh brother could possibly be this rebel informant, whose valuable information leads his moniker to be whispered with increasing frequency among those who would align themselves with rebel cells.
6 BBY - 2 BBY: saw gerrera becomes increasingly paranoid, including developing suspicion for the individual calling himself viper, especially after nine years of refusing to reveal himself. through saw, tristan is able to make contact with luthen rael, who agrees to assume any risk associated with the anonymous informant. tristan spends the next four years in contact with luthen and his associate kleya marki to deliver sensitive information.
2 BBY - 4 ABY: the rebel alliance in its final form finally comes to fruition. for convenience, tristan's viper reports siphon their way solely through rebel intelligence via general davits draven, rather than both through luthen and bail organa's contact, for approximately the first year after the alliance's official formation. in 1 BBY, however, when cassian andor commits to the rebellion after years of chaotic and dangerous solo work, apparently with a new resolve and commitment, viper transmits that he with only communicate with andor moving forward. while a bit baffling to rebel high command - and a bit of a hit to general draven's ego, to lose exclusive access to a vital informant - the rebellion allows this. the reality is that tristan discovered cassian's survival many years before, when he was captured by the eleventh brother's purge trooper squadron. without explanation, tristan let him go and has been monitoring him and protecting him as best he can since without revealing his own identity, for fear other inquisitors - or force forbid, lord vader - might sense the shift or andor might be discovered and killed. sometime in 2 BBY, a course of events forced his identity to be revealed to his former lover and they were reunited under dangerous circumstances. tristan urged cassian to commit to the rebellion, to help him, and for the next five years, cassian becomes his " handler, " with nobody else the wiser that viper is, in fact, the eleventh brother.
4 ABY: after the conclusion of the battle of endor, the rebels storm the fortress inquisitorius. tristan, already fighting what feels like a losing battle within himself with the dark side, attempts to flee - not out of cowardice but out of fear he will destroy the entire invading squadron if they attack. he finds himself cornered, unable to explain himself to a group of reactive and distrustful rebels who've just faced a number of his supposed brethren, all prepared to kill them all. with blasters trained on him, the air pressure crackling around them as tristan attempts to control his power made vast by his constant and purposeful fostering of hate, it all nearly comes to a head before captain andor intervenes and dispurses the troops as he pulls tristan back from the brink. tristan, overwhelmed and drained, collapses and is brought back to rebel headquarters, where he remains in a bacta tank for a week. he wakes in a panic, exploding the bacta tank and setting off a number of alarms, after which that particular medbay is evacuated, save for tristan himself, a number of medical droids, and captain andor, who refuses to leave. it takes a number of weeks for tristan to even partially recover, and by the time he is debriefed, pardoned, given his accolades for his service, and discharged, he still walks with a cane. with cassian, he leaves as soon as he's able for a remote forested planet on the outer rim, where cass has a house waiting for them to return to.
FOLLOWING 4 ABY: tristan sheds the title of both jedi and inquisitor. he suffers deeply from night terrors and struggles with remants of the dark side rising to the surface which remain persistant for years, but begin to dissipate, even though they never fully go away. to heal himself, he focuses hard on removing the rage, on building a home with his lover, cultivating hobbies, discovering a life after four and a half decades of war and use by others. eventually, after spending a significant amount of time isolated in nature, he begins to repair his relationship with the force on his own terms, without the tie of any particular label. to his delight, he's able to pull the corruption from the kyber crystal which powers his lightsaber, turning it back from red to its original yellow. he's little interest in the politics of the new republic, but very occasionally, he's sought after for advice relating to his knowledge of the empire as well as his knowledge of the force. he also becomes useful to the small community on his planet for the deep connection he develops with the forest, which proves a boon for the farmers, loggers, and ranchers in the area.

Russian drone had "for Belgorod" written on it

A drone used by Russia to attack the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on Monday had the phrase “for Belgorod” written on one of its vertical stabilizers.
The phrase appears to be a reference to explosions in recent weeks in Russia’s Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine near the city of Kharkiv. Ukraine has not commented on those incidents.
The drone is the Iranian-manufactured Shahid-136, which is rebranded under the Russian name “Geran 2.”
The stabilizer was photographed this morning by an AFP photographer. It also appeared in a video posted on Telegram by Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine’s minister of internal affairs.
The drone also included the phrase “for Luch” that appears to be a reference to a reported power plant fire last week in the Belgorod region.

Russian and Belarusian troops "acting in stages" to protect Belarus, defense minister says
From CNN's Katharina Krebs and Uliana Pavlova
Russian and Belarusian troops have “begun to deploy and carry out tasks for the armed defense” of Belarus, according to Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin, Belarusian state media BELTA reported on Monday.
“Today, based on the current situation, we are acting in stages, implementing individual measures aimed at proactive readiness of the regional grouping to respond to emerging challenges and threats,” Khrenin said at a meeting with the staff of one of Belarus factories, as quoted by BELTA.
“The regional grouping of troops and forces itself is a complex organism of many components. It includes command and control bodies at various levels, and troops, and forces, as well as various support systems, both Belarusian and Russian,” he added.
According to Alexander Volfovich, state secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, the regional grouping of troops on the territory of the republic is deployed in an incomplete composition.
“In the future, life will show whether to deploy it on a full scale or not,” said Volfovich, as quoted by BELTA.
On Monday, Valery Revenko, head of the international military cooperation department of Belarus Defense Ministry, said in a tweet that Russia plans to send about 170 tanks, up to 200 armored combat vehicles and up to 100 guns and mortars with a caliber of more than 100 mm to Belarus as part of the deployed Belarusian-Russian group of troops.
“Belarus to receive 9,000 personnel, about 170 tanks, up to 200 AFVs and up to 100 guns and mortars with a caliber of more than 100 mm,” Revenko said on Twitter.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced on Oct. 10 that Belarus agreed to deploy a joint regional grouping citing “the aggravation of the situation on the western borders of the Union State.”

Germany will end conversion of Ukrainian hryvnia to euros by Oct. 30
From CNN's Inke Kappeler in Berlin
Germany announced it will end its program that offered Ukrainian refugees the ability to exchange Ukrainian hryvnia banknotes to euros without exchange rates.
The program will end by Oct. 30, a joint statement from the German finance ministry and central bank said on Monday.
The provision was initially introduced to help Ukrainian refugees who fled the country after Russia’s invasion, but that the demand has “dwindled,” the statement said, adding that few transactions have recently taken place.
The statement added that the last day to exchange between currencies is Oct. 28, due to banks being closed over the weekend.

The number of people killed after Russian strikes in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, has now reached four, the city’s mayor said Monday.
“We’ve got already 4 people dead under the ruins of the building in the Shevchenkivsky district which was hit by the Russian terrorist drone,” Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram. “The rescuers found another body of a man there. The rescue operation is ongoing. There could be some other people under the rubble.”
Three people have been taken to the hospital, he said, two of whom are emergency responders.

Ukraine looks anxiously toward its northern border as Russian troops flow into Belarus
Tumblr media
Russian-Belarusian exercises, dubbed Allied Resolve 2022, in Belarus on February 19. (Henadz Zhinkov/Xinhua/Getty Images)
The announcement last week that Belarus and Russia would form a joint regional force and carry out exercises set off alarm bells in Kyiv.
The last time Belarusian and Russian forces held joint exercises, in February, many of those Russian forces went on to cross the Ukrainian border in their ill-fated drive toward the capital.
It’s not that Belarus has a mighty army – it doesn’t. But the prospect of Ukraine’s long northern border becoming a passageway for Russian forces for the second time this year would be a nightmare for Ukraine’s already stretched forces. Ukraine and Belarus share a 1,000-kilometer frontier, much of it sparsely populated and thickly forested.
At the moment, the Ukrainian army is conducting offensives in the east and south while holding off Russian forces in parts of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia. After seven months of war, the Ukrainian military has suffered attrition just like its enemy: moving forces to defend its northern flank would stretch forces already fighting on multiple fronts.
Predictably enough, Belarus says the joint force is purely defensive. The country’s Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said that “all activities carried out at the moment are aimed at providing a sufficient response to activities near our borders.”
Those activities, according to Belarus, are aimed at deterring Ukrainian preparations to attack the country. Lukashenko said last week that his government had been “warned about strikes against Belarus from the territory of Ukraine.”
Ukraine has vehemently denied the claims. The Foreign Ministry said it “categorically rejects these latest insinuations by the Belarusian regime. We cannot rule out that this diplomatic note may be part of a provocation on the part of the Russian Federation.”

Here's what we know about "kamikaze" drones
Tumblr media
A fragment of a kamikaze drone after the Russian attacks in Kyiv, Ukraine, on October 17.(Metin Aktas/Anadolu Agency/Getty Images)
Ukraine has repeatedly asked its allies to supply it with more air defense systems and ammunition after Russia stepped up its use of “kamikaze drones” in its brutal assault against the country.
Kyiv says Moscow has used Iranian-supplied kamikaze drones in strikes against Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia and other cities across Ukraine in recent weeks, and pleaded with Western countries to step up their assistance in the face of the new challenge.
Drones have played a significant role in the conflict since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in late February, but their use has increased since Moscow acquired the new drones from Iran over the summer.
What are kamikaze drones? Kamikaze drones, or suicide drones, are a type of aerial weapon system. They are known as a loitering munition because they are capable of circling for some time in an area identified as a potential target and only striking once an enemy asset is identified.
They are small, portable and can be easily launched, but their main advantage is that they are hard to detect and can be fired from a distance.
Why are they called “Kamikaze”? The name “kamikaze” refers to the fact that the drones are disposable. Unlike more traditional, larger and faster military drones that return to base after dropping missiles, Kamikaze drones are designed to crash into a target and explode, detonating their warhead and destroying the drones in process.
Which drones is Russia using in Ukraine? The Ukrainian military and US intelligence say Russia is using Iranian-made attack drones. US officials told CNN in July that Iran had begun showcasing Shahed series drones to Russia at Kashan Airfield south of Tehran the previous month. The drones are capable of carrying precision-guided missiles and have a payload of approximately 50 kilograms (110 pounds).
In August, US officials said Russia had bought these drones and was training its forces how to use them. According to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, Russia has ordered 2,400 Shahed-136 drones from Iran.
Iran has denied supplying weapons to Russia: But evidence points to the contrary. Ukraine claimed its forces had shot down one of these drones for the first time last month near the city of Kupyansk in Kharkiv. There have been more reported attacks since then. Kyiv’s military said Wednesday it had downed 17 Shahed-136 drones that day alone. According to photos released by Ukrainian authorities, Russia has rebranded the Shaheds and is using them under the name of “Geran.”
US officials say there has been “some evidence already” that the Iranian drones “have already experienced numerous failures” on the battlefield.

paene omnia decent
1.
In diesem Zusammenhang bemerkt Quintilian: paene omnia decent.

RULES:
this is an independent and exclusive ( mutuals only ) multimuse blog for various canon and original characters. i claim no ownership over the canon characters on this blog, but the original characters and their related lore are purely my own creation, so please do not take, edit, or add without express permission.
i aim for this blog to be heavily plot-based and reserved largely for friends. while i will occasionally do starter calls, i prefer to talk long-term plots out if possible. memes are also a very effective way to interact and let me know you’re interested!
i will not be following minors on this blog for my own comfort. if there is not an indication on your blog that you are of age, i likely will not follow back.
there may be other personal reasons i may not follow back, such as fandoms and fcs that give me the ick, but mostly, just don't be gross and we should be totally fine.
due to my busy schedule and my other blogs, writing here will likely be slow. please be patient! i am a brand new baby attorney who works full time during the week and spends a lot of time with my extended family, partner, and dog on the weekends, so i write when inspiration hits and i can find the words.
while i will be providing a variety of ways to interact with me to the best of my ability, receiving memes is probably my favorite way to kick things off, so always feel free to send them whether or not we've interacted - and always feel free to continue those to which i've responded.
i will do my best to tag the obvious triggers simply with trigger tw /. if you need specific triggers tagged, please reach out.
i am multi-ship and i do love ships! my one big thing is that i much prefer to talk to and plot with my partners ooc. this makes me both more comfortable and enthusiastic about my ships. if you think your muse and one of mine would click - just let me know and i’m probably on board.
you can call me becks ( she/her ) and i absolutely love fantasy stories, period shows and movies, and playing video games poorly. please always feel free to approach me about anything ; i'm really quite nice and eager to chat and plot!

POST-IMPERIAL TRAUMA  Putin, and Russia, could not get over the loss of it’s empire. Therefore they had to start a war to regain, to reconstruct, to rebuild the old glory. That’s the logical explanation of the German historicus Andreas Kappeler. You can use this explanation also for the case of Turkey. The Ottoman empire lost most of it’s territories, conquered in the centuries before, during the 19th century. They couldn’t get over their defeats, and they feared more losses. Therefore they decided to eliminate the Armenians, the Greeks, the Christians - their potential enemies. Now it’s the same with the fight against the Kurds. And also the hostile policy against other countries like Greece. You can explain Erdogans aggressive nationalism with this historical wound, that they lost their superior position. An inferiority complex mixed with the desire for power, especially of one man, Putin, Erdogan... The free and democratic Ukraine is a threat for Putin, the free and democratic Rojava (Kurdish Northern Syria) threats Erdogans power, he wants to eliminate it. -  You can use this explanation also for revanchism: Hitler built his power on the feeling of most Germans that the capitulation of 1918 had humiliated Germany. And even Orban today: Hungary lost many of its territories after WW1 and again after WW2. He builds his politics on a nostalgic nationalism - mixed with his personal power ambition and corruption. It’s always the same toxic macho mixture, enriched with antisemitism and hypocritical pseudo-piety (christian or islamic, it doesn’t matter).

October 11th - Battle of Kappel
Tumblr media
The Second War of Kappel (Zweiter Kappelerkrieg) was an armed conflict in 1531 between the Protestant and the Roman Catholic cantons of the Old Swiss Confederacy during the Reformation in Switzerland
The tensions between the two parties had not been resolved by the peace concluded after the first war of Kappel two years earlier, and provocations from both sides continued unabatedly, fuelled in particular by the Augsburg Confession of 1530. Additionally, the Catholic party accused Zürich of territorial ambitions.
As the Catholic cantons refused to help the Three Leagues (Drei Bünde) in the Grisons in the Musso war against the Duchy of Milan, Zürich promptly considered this a breach of contracts between the confederacy and the Three Leagues and declared an embargo against the five alpine Catholic cantons, in which Bern also participated. While the Tagsatzung had successfully mediated in 1529, on this occasion the attempt failed, not least because Zwingli, the Protestant Leader, was eager for a military confrontation. Pressed by the food embargo the Catholic cantons declared war on Zürich on 9 October 1531.
Tumblr media
On October 11, 1531, a force of approximately 7,000 soldiers from the five Catholic cantons met an army of only 2,000 men from Zürich at the Battle of Kappel. Zürich's army was unsupported by the other Protestant cantons and was led by Zwingli, while the combined Catholic army was led by Hans Jauch of Uri. The main Zürich force arrived at the battlefield in scattered groups and exhausted from a forced march. The Catholic forces attacked and after a brief resistance, the Protestant army broke around 4 in the afternoon. About 500 Protestants were killed in the battle and while fleeing. Among the dead was Zwingli and twenty-four other pastors. Zwingli's body was taken by the victorious Catholic army and burned as a heretic.
After the defeat, the forces of Zürich regrouped and attempted to occupy the Zugerberg, and some of them camped on the Gubel hill near Menzingen.
Following the defeat at Kappel, Bern and other Reformed Cantons marched to rescue Zürich. Between 15–21 October, a large Reformed army marched up the Reuss valley to outside of Baar. At the same time, the Catholic army was now encamped on the slopes of the Zugerberg. The combined Zürich-Bern army attempted to send 5,000 men over Sihlbrugg and Menzingen to encircle the army on the Zugerberg. However, the Reformed army marched slowly due to poor discipline and looting. By the night of 23–24 October, they had only reached Gubel at Menzingen. That night they were attacked by a small Catholic force from Aegeri and driven off. About 600 Protestant soldiers died in the attack and the panicked retreat that followed.
This defeat destroyed much of the combined Zürich-Bern army and, faced with increasing desertion, it retreated on 3 November back down the Reuss to Bremgarten. The retreat left much of Lake Zürich and Zürich itself unprotected. Zürich now pushed for a rapid peace settlement.

Masterlist | Miah’s Comeback Sleepover
Tumblr media
Kaz smiled as the lock finally made the long-awaited clicking sound, opening with no problem. Amateurs. They think their outer protections are so strong that they don’t need more than a basic lock.
Wylan was behind him, looking nervous as always, but one thing he’s good at is spotting the valuable items in a merchant’s home, so Kaz asked (read: forced) him to come.
“Alright, valuable things only, we have ten minutes to get everything and get out before the guards make their rounds so let’s speed this u-”
He was cut off by a giggle coming from the centre of the room.
“Too late, Brekker. Better luck next time.”
She waved cheekily and tugged on the rope around her waist, immediately being pulled up by one of her girls, leaving him grasping at nothing but wind.
A quick sweep of the house told him it was devoid of any and all valuables and he stomped out of there angrily.
The trip back to the Slat was a tense one. The crows knew better than to say anything, especially Nina, given that she’d come so close to joining their crew.
The Hearts were -as their name implied- a group of Heartrenders that made their home in the Barrel after the Ravkan civil war. They’re all women, all insanely good at their job, and all free of any indentures whatsoever. Their leader, commonly known as the Queen of Hearts, was the biggest pain in Kaz’s ass.
Case in point, she wasn’t even supposed to be here. According to the intel they’d gathered, the whole crew was supposed to be away on a job in the warehouse district, far, far away from the Merchant he was about to rob. And the worst part is, that’s not even the first time it’d happened! It seems like whatever he does, he can’t predict anything about that woman and it’s starting to get on his nerves.
He went straight to his office, not bothering with socialising or torturing the idiot who fed him false info (he’ll give him the night to get out of the Barrel, or else) and let the door slam shut behind him.
“Fuck that pretentious little Heartrender.”
He said, under his breath, as he took off his coat.
“I’d tell you to take me to dinner first, but that’s such a good offer that I might skim over the specifics.”
Well of fucking course.
He turned around. She was sitting in his chair, twirling one of her knives in her hand, a gift from a certain Suli girl.
“You’re insufferable, you know that?”
She only grinned.
“You’re just mad that I’m ahead on this month’s betting pool. Five successful heists to your four, better get say goodbye to that De Kappel, cause it isn’t gonna be yours for much longer.”
He groaned and ran a hand through his hair.
“You’re not supposed to be ahead! I planned everything meticulously, spent hours on those plans, and somehow you still won.”
He sat in the chair in front of her, the one usually reserved for anyone he was doing business with, or more accurately, anyone he was financially destroying. The irony of this was not lost on him.
“Mhm, valid effort on your part, but you forgot to account for one thing.”
He lifted his brow as she set her elbows on the desk, resting her head on her crossed hands.
“And what’s that?”
She smiled.
“Me, obviously.”
She got up and rounded the desk, leaning against the front at barely a foot’s distance from him.
“You see, that’s your mistake. You plan everything. You research, and predict, and plan, and have so much confidence in your plan that you forget to leave space for the unpredictable. AKA me.”
He snorts.
“I always leave space for you. I literally had to buy a bigger bed for you, if that’s not making space, I don’t know what is.”
She rolled her eyes as he took off his gloves.
“How do you think they’ll react?”
He shrugged.
“Well, I don’t think Inej knows all the details, but she knows that we’re friendly so it shouldn’t surprise her…”
She spluttered.
“Friendly? Oh, we’re friendly, now?”
He smirked.
“Just a little taste of revenge, my love, don’t worry. Moving on, Jesper will be pissed that he didn’t know but he’ll get over it. Wylan will most likely ask you all kinds of questions, the curious idiot. Matthias will have a heart attack, which should be fun to watch, I assume that at least half of my whiskey shelf will be gone by the next morning. And Nina… Well… Nina’ll have a field day, that’s for sure.”
She smiled happily and he took her hand, intertwining their fingers. Sometimes it still surprised him that they’d managed to do so much progress in just two years.
“I’ll finally have Nina Zenik on my crew.”
He hummed.
“You’ll also have men on your crew.”
She shrugged.
“You handle the boys, I’ll take care of my girls.”
He pulled her in until she was standing between his legs and hugged her thighs, resting his head on her stomach. Her hands immediately came to rest on his head and he felt a calm wash over him.
“I think they’ll mostly be pissed at themselves for not figuring it out. I mean, two years, really? And I’ve been beating your ass at betting pools for like a year and a half, if I was anyone else, I’d be dead.”
He smiled against her stomach.
“They’ll be too busy being happy to have another boss to care about the specifics, especially cause your girls are gonna sing you high praises. Soon enough, they’ll start worshipping the ground you walk on.”
She pulled his head up until they were looking into each other’s eyes.
“Well, I am a Queen, after all.”
He nodded.
“The Queen of Hearts that managed to steal my cold, dead one. Does that make me your King?”
She scratched at his scalp and he fought against the urge to close his eyes.
“Obviously. I can’t be a Queen and have a bastard for a husband. You’ve officially been promoted.”
He looked at the ring on her finger, stolen on the last job the two did together, secretly, of course.
“Shouldn’t I only be promoted once we marry?”
She shrugged.
“Po-tay-toh, po-tah-to. Either way, you went from bastard to King, be happy.”
Her smile was radiant, happy to finally come clean with their relationship, and Kaz felt himself be taken on that happy high.
“You know, it’s quite ironic, this thing.”
She frowned.
“What do you mean?”
He grinned at her.
“I pride myself in meticulously planning every single aspect of my life, yet I fell in love with the most unpredictable little brat in the world. Very ironic indeed.”
She bent down until their faces were almost touching, giving him space, always giving him space in case it was suddenly too much, then kissed him softly. It felt like home, like safety, like belonging.
“Call me a brat again and I’ll give you a boner every time you’re negotiating something.”
«────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ──────»
That last line is cause the other day, I had a thought of Heartrenders being able to create awkward boners. You know, since a boner’s really just the blood travelling to the penis so yeah, had to put it in there.
Anyway, if you liked it don’t forget to like/reblog/comment/send me an ask or dm ranting about it, I really love hearing from you guys.
-Love, Miah <3
