Some historical context for Olrox
Tumblr media
Okay, let me prephase this with one important message: Castlevania Nocturne made me really happy by making the plot all about colonialism, as colonialism and its fallout and how it influences us to this day is a topic that I am very passionate about. We do not talk enough about it. The US does not talk enough about it because it could make white people feel uncomfortable. And here in Germany we do not talk about it, because we act as if this had nothing to do with us at all.
But the show talks about it and I love it.
And I honestly also gotta say that I love that the BI_PoC character have a concrete cultural heritage. Olrox is Aztec, Annette is Yoruba, and Drolta is Egyptian. Other shows: Please take notes!
But let's talk Olrox, because he is so fucking interesting and amazing!
We know about him that he is Aztec and also that he is 250 years old. Or roughly that old by the time he kills Julia. Which would put either his birth or his turning somewhere around 1530.
Now, the fall of the Aztec Empire has a very exact date: August 13th, 1521. But you should keep in mind that this does not mean that on that day the Aztec's are extinct. To this day there is still 1,5 million people speaking Nahuatl, the language of the Aztecs, and preserving some of the Aztec cultural traditions. It was just that on that day the empire construct fell to Cortez and the Spaniad conquistadors and a lot of Aztecs went into exile to flee the genocide that Cortez was bringing upon them.
The question of course is: Was Olrox still human at this time or was he already a vampire? From his dialogue it is clear that he was at least alive and grown enough to remember the fall of the empire and the distruction Cortez and his men brought upon them. But you can bet it was very traumatic.
I also am assuming he was turned by a white man. Because so far my assumption is that vampirism is an old world thing that got brought to the new world through colonialism. (Mostly because in Dracula's court we do not see any new world vampires.)
Tumblr media
Now, the other interesting thing is what he says about his dead lover. The one Julia killed. So, first the "town in Massachusetts" he speaks about is clearly Stockbridge. Which was the town in which many Mohicans have settled during the colonial times, as well as other people from the Iroquois Nations. Now, it should be noted that the Mohicans were not part of the Iroquois alliance and in fact went to war with the Iroquois, but by the time colonialism really geared up there was some cooperation between the Mohicans and Iroquois.
Due to this they were in an alliance with the Oneida (who were part of the Iroquois) by the time of the Revolutionary war. Now, the Revolutionary War created a lot of conflict between the Iroquois nations, because they did not agree which side they should fight on. Of course both sides promised that they could keep their land, but the Mohawk, Onondaga, Cayuga, and Seneca did not trust the colonists and hence sided with the British, while the Oneida and Tuscarora (and through them also the Mohicans) sided with the Colonists.
And the dead lover clearly was among those siding with the colonists. Now, a quick refresher for the non-Americans (and the Americans who slept to history class, which is understandable). The Revolutionary War lasted from April 19, 1775 to September 3, 1783 (which, yes, also means that Julia and Richter probably were in the US during the war the entire time and the "evil" Julia was fighting probably was linked to it). And of course we all know how it ended for the Indigenous people: The colonists won, countless Indigenous folks died on both sides, only to get booted of their land soon after. The Oneida und Mohicans were made to move westwards not soon after the war ended. So, yes, Olrox would have seen that happen.
Tumblr media
Now, an interesting thing in his dialogue was when Erzebet said: "We will create a new world." To which he replies: "I have heard that one before." And she says: "This time we are going to make it to last."
And the big question is to what this is refering. Is it refering to the colonialization or is it refering to the revolutionary war? Or something entirely different. In both cases it would be possible. And yes, the American Revolution definitely were claiming to create a new world. But was it that what he refered to or something else?
Well, never the less: Interesting character. Really good writing.

Isabella I of Castile
Isabella I of Castile (1451-1504), was Queen of Castile (r. 1474-1504) and of Aragon (r. 1479-1504) alongside her husband Ferdinand II of Aragon (1452-1516). Her reign included the unification of Spain, the reconquest of Granada, sponsoring Christopher Columbus in his voyage to explore the Caribbean, and the establishment of the Spanish Inquisition.
Early Life
Isabella was born 22 April 1451 in the town of Madrigal de las Altas Torres in Castile (which is now modern Spain) to John II of Castile (r. 1406-1454) and Isabella of Portugal (1447-1454). Despite having two brothers and spending much time with her mother in Arévalo where she participated in more ladylike activities, Isabella was soon drawn in and involved with the Castilian political world. While there were no laws against women being on the throne, Isabella was third in line because her brothers were higher up the succession line. The iron-willed and determined young woman was brought to the Court of Castile when she was in her early teenage years so that her father could keep an eye on her. Isabella was well-versed in Latin, and she studied history and theology, which furthered her religious convictions, which would be extremely influential in her actions as queen in the future.
Isabella's brother Enrique IV became king as Henry IV of Castile (r. 1454-1474), but discontent with his rule soon became vocalized as the kingdom was dissatisfied with his ineffective rule. Henry struggled with producing a legitimate heir, as his first marriage bore no children, and his only daughter, Juana (1462-1530), was believed to be an illegitimate child. He was unable to win back Granada, which had been under Muslim control since the mid-1200s, and had Jewish and Muslim advisors in place, damaging the image of Castile being a Christian kingdom.
To placate the nobles, Henry named his brother Alfonso (1453-1468) heir, but Alfonso had to marry his daughter so they could both rule. When Henry ultimately reneged on this deal and supported his daughter's claim, the nobles began their campaign to place Alfonso on the throne. When Alfonso died in 1468, of suspected poisoning, the nobles approached Isabella as she was also a legitimate candidate. She refused to take the crown and wished to wait for her brother to leave. Seeing this, Henry negotiated with the nobles and made Isabella his heir.

Out of all of the people who had orchestrated Anne's downfall, which of them disliked her the most? I'm going with Cromwell.
I mean...to have been participants in this, it's likely they all disliked her, although arguably some of them (Carew, Bryan) hadn't seemed to initially do so, Bryan esp. being the one that seems to have had a good working relationships with her through 1530, at the least...
Chapuys seems to imply it's Carew and Montague leading the faction, at least earliest on. Arguably this must have changed over time, as Edward Seymour is present in an extremely important and politically significant meeting (the attempted Imperial rapprochement of April 1536, which he attended , between Cromwell, HVIII, and Chapuys), and they're not. Although...what reason, arguably, did the Seymours have for especially 'disliking' Anne and/or the Boleyns? Their daughters were promoted to her household. They might have had simmering resentment that another 'minor' noble family had risen so high and secured so much power and influence, but that doesn't really set them apart from many others than likely felt the same way, and it's not quite strong enough of a motivation for...such a conspiracy? If that makes sense.
Cromwell is the only one of these that she's reported as having said she'd "like to see his head off" though, so...yeah, probably him.

Quiet in the library
@struttingstag April 5th Prompt: Quiet in the library | 1530 words James/Regulus/Sirius | Warnings: NSFW, blow jobs
James was at the library studying with Regulus for the third day in a row. Regulus wasn't studying though, he was just making James study since he had his NEWTs coming up in a month. It didn't help that Regulus kept biting his bottom lip every time James got the answer correct, which happened quite a lot and the longer they sat there the tighter James' jeans became.
"Reg... if you keep doing that, I'm going to end up launching over this table to ravish your neck until we can get to our secret room," James whisper-yelled across the table after he slammed the transfiguration book closed.
"Aww, baby," Regulus cooed. "Am I distracting you?"
"You know you are." James scoffed as he rolled his eyes.
"Well, maybe having you ravish me in the library is my end goal. Did you ever think about that?" Regulus asked as he batted his long lashes at him and James had to adjust himself in his seat.
"You're the one who wanted me to study." James threw his hands up in the air in frustration.
He didn't know how much longer the blood flow was going to continue to go to his brain before it all travelled south in a hurry. Regulus laughed quietly before he stood up and walked around the table to stand behind James and whispered in his ear as he ran his hand up and down James' chest.
"Ten more minutes and I'll let you do whatever you want when we get back to our room. Okay?" James nodded dumbly.
Regulus straightened and started to walk away.
"Where are you going?"
"To get the last book that you need."
Regulus disappeared into the stacks a minute later. James was trying to calm his body down so he could focus. He could wait ten more minutes. Right? James was about to open the book in front of him again when Sirius appeared and plopped himself down in Regulus' chair with a huff. James gave him a confused look before he started speaking.
"I don't get it," Sirius said as he looked around for a second before he locked eyes with James again.
"Get what?"
"What's so special about Reggie? Well, no, I know what's special about him but why him and not me?" Sirius complained. "What does he do better than I can?"
"What are you talking about?"
"We have been best friends for years and we've done stuff in the past, right?" James nodded. "So why him?"
"Well, for one," Regulus smirked from behind Sirius, who nearly fell out of his chair at Regulus' sudden appearance, "I'm better at sucking cock than you are."
"You are not!" Sirius gasped as he put his hand over his heart in offence.
"Pretty sure the noises you were making the last time I sucked you off prove that I am." Regulus shrugged as he sat down next to his brother.
"That's beside the point," Sirius pouted before he turned away from Regulus, who was quietly laughing, and back to James, who was trying to hide his smile behind his hand.
"Is that why?" Sirius asked, gesturing to Regulus.
"I mean, he is quite an expert at it but that's not the only reason," James replied with a shrug.
"Told you," Regulus taunted as he stuck out his tongue at Sirius who was still pouting.
"What if I prove I'm better?" Sirius asked suddenly with a determined look on his face.
"What?" James choked out. He wasn't sure if he heard him correctly. "Better at what?"
"Sucking cock."
"You really think that you're better than me?" Regulus scoffed as he rolled his eyes.
Now see, James loves Regulus. He really does but he has also fantasised about Sirius in the past. They had done some stuff but it never went any further than making out and fondling each other over their clothes. They were teenage boys who just hit puberty and they were curious. James didn't know what to say. He looked at Regulus for a minute with the question on his tongue but Regulus seemed to have already read his mind.
"It's up to you, Jamie," Regulus said nonchalantly as he leaned back in his chair and gestured to his brother with a lazy wave of his hand.
"So what do you say, James?" Sirius asked hopefully.
"What? Now?"
"Yeah. I mean you're already worked up," James glared at Regulus before looking back at Sirius. "Why not let me help you out?" Sirius finished.
"We're in the library," James remarked aghast.
Regulus stood up and walked around the table again to whisper in James' ear.
"He's not going to let it go until you let him suck you off. Plus, if you let him do that, I'll let you tie me up later. I know how much you love doing that."
James could feel his cheeks heat up and he was sure the three Hufflepuff girls could see it from across the library.
James nodded slowly as a soft 'okay' fell from his lips.
Regulus grabbed his hand to pull him up from the table. James went willingly and followed Regulus without hesitation. He didn't know where they were going but he didn't care.
"Are you coming?" Regulus called back to the table where Sirius was still sitting with a confused look on his face.
Sirius jumped up so fast that he nearly knocked the chair over and walked quickly over to them. By the time they stopped, Regulus had dragged them to a secluded part of the library where they kept the outdated books that they refused to get rid of. Regulus pushed James into one of the armchairs before he ran his hand up James' chest lightly and positioned himself behind the chair but close enough to keep his hands on James.
"Let's see what you got, brother."
Sirius nodded and dropped to his knees with a thud and started to release James' cock from its confines. It sprung up quickly once his jeans and pants were pulled halfway down his thighs. Regulus started to run his ring-clad fingers through James' hair, tugging gently at the roots. James' heart flipped in his chest at the prospect of having both brothers at the same time.
"What are you waiting for, Sirius? He's willing and I can already see him leaking from the tip," Regulus scoffed as he ran his lips along the helix of James' ear, making him shiver with anticipation. "If you don't hurry up, I'm going to kick you out and take care of him myself."
Sirius didn't waste another second and swallowed James down in one go, gagging slightly. James moaned at the sudden wet heat and Regulus put his hand over James' mouth.
"You have to be quiet, baby. This is the library remember," Regulus breathed into James' ear and James nodded before he let out another muffled moan into Regulus' hand.
Sirius started to swirl his tongue around James' cock as he bobbed his head faster and faster. James was starting to see stars at the corners of his vision. Was he better than Regulus? James couldn't tell. He was good with his tongue, James would give him that. He could feel himself crawling to the edge and peering over it. He was teetering and when James went to tell Sirius that he was close, he was cut off by another muffled moan from deep in his throat.
"You're close, aren't you, baby?" Regulus asked, always in tune with James' body.
James nodded as he closed his eyes for a second to focus on the feel of having Sirius between his thighs and Regulus behind him. Regulus removed his hand after another rather loud muffled moan and replaced it with his lips, swallowing the moan that followed.
"Quiet, Jamie. You need to behave if you want your treat," Regulus whispered seductively into James' ear, causing his whole body to shudder and his hips to buck up into Sirius' mouth before he spilt down his throat with no warning.
Sirius swallowed every last drop, licking James clean before he pulled off with a smug grin.
"So?" Sirius asked. "Who's better?"
"I- I don't know," James replied as he looked between the brothers.
James was still coming down from the high of his orgasm as Regulus put him back into his jeans. Regulus was trying to hide his own smug grin as Sirius scoffed and threw his hands up in the air. James was sure if Sirius had a chance to prove it by himself then James might be able to make a decision but he was still reeling from having them both at the same time. Could he have them both at the same time?
Once James had calmed his body down, Regulus grabbed his hand again and pulled him along back to the table to pack up their stuff. Sirius was trailing behind like a sad puppy.
"Good boy," Regulus whispered into James' ear after he pulled him in for a kiss after they left the library.
If the three of them ended up in James' and Regulus' room, that was nobody's business except their own.

It Happened Today in Christian History
Tumblr media
April 19, 1560: Death of German reformer Philip Melanchthon. He had composed the Augsburg Confession of 1530. More of a peacemaker than Luther, he called for Lutherans and Zwinglians to put aside their differences for the sake of the reformation of the church. In addition, he led extensive efforts to develop the German educational system. The universities at Marburg, Koenigsberg, and Jena arose under his advice and Leipzig was reorganized.

It took a while, but it’s finally here! An extensive timeline of the events in and about Phantom Blood for further reference on this part.
This covers the events on both anime and manga as well additional info from the artbooks and stuff that was implied/inferred or that can be deduced going by all the info available in the story and, occasionally (namely, some of the info around Jack The Ripper), from real life events too.
(full timeline under the cut for length reasons)
16th century (no dates given, but it can be speculated was somewhere in the late 1530s-early 1540s), the Dark Knights: Tarkus and Bruford are born.
Windknight's Lot is an active training ground/site for knights in this period. This is where Tarkus and Bruford do his entire training.
1563, Tarkus and Bruford become two of the only five men in history who have defeated the "77 Rings" training method.
At some point in this period, both become Queen Mary Stuart's faithful retainers.
1565. Queen Elizabeth and Mary Stuart fight for the throne.
Also in 1565, Queen Mary Stuart's husband, Darnley dies. Queen Elizabeth the 1st takes advantage of that and charges Mary Stuart with having killed him.
It's inferred that, still over the course of that year, Mary Stuart's armies (one of them being led by Tarkus and Bruford) were under attack as the nobles of the land revolted against Mary Stuart. Mary Stuart's side was defeated, resulting in her imprisonment, however, the army led by Tarkus and Bruford was still undefeated. Ultimately, they got tricked by Queen Elizabeth and were executed shortly after Mary Stuart had suffered the same fate.
--------------
1827, Dario Brando was born.
1838, January 19th, Will Zeppeli was born.
1858, the “first” incident with the Stone Mask takes place. Will’s father becomes a vampire and kills his entire crew and, almost, his son as well.
There is no info on the matter but it could be inferred that Mario Zeppeli was born around this period of time --somewhere in the mid-to-late 1850s and the early 1860s, or up to the 1870s at most-- as Will Zeppeli mentions he’s a married man and that he has a son back in Italy (assuming Will started his family before he went to Tibet). It’s also very likely that Will visited his family a few times throughout the years as Mario not only got to know about Will’s eventual fate and about the Stone Mask, but he also learned about Hamon and some of those techniques (which were only known in Tibet, so the easiest way he could have learned about them was from Will himself).
1860. Zeppeli goes to Tibet and starts training with Master Tonpetty and becomes very close friends with Dire since, forming a friendship that would last for nearly three decades.
1863. Zeppeli finishes his training and starts his one-man search for the Stone Mask around the world.
Also in 1863, (no month/day specified), Straizo was born.
Still in 1863, October 16th, Robert E. O. Speedwagon was born.
No specific date is given, although it’s often speculated it was in December of either 1867 or 1868, Dio Brando was born.
1868, April 4th, Jonathan Joestar was born.
Also in 1868. The carriage accident in which Mary Joestar dies takes place as the Joestars were making their way back to Liverpool. Jonathan is only weeks/months old around this time, meaning that the accident took place somewhere after April 4th of that year.
It’s not entirely clear, but it’s possible that it is around this same year (1869 at most) that Dario gets caught trying to sell the wedding ring he stole from the Joestars.
1869 (no month/day specified), Erina Pendleton was born.
It’s also not specified when, but it’s possible that Dio’s mother died around these years (1868-69, and before 1880).
1873. George gets Jonathan a pet that would soon become Jonathan's only friend growing up: Danny.
1880. Dario Brando dies at some point in this year.
1881, Dio Brando is legally/officially adopted by the Joestars and starts living with them. Jojo’s happy (and a bit spoiled, too) life begins to crumble.
Also in 1881, Jonathan and Erina meet.
Still in 1881, Dio kills Danny.
1881 still, Dio assaults Erina.
It’s in this same year (1881) that Jojo starts showing interest for the first time in the stone mask after finding out it reacts to blood touching its surface.
Still in 1881, the Pendletons move to India due to Mister Pendleton’s job.
We are told that Jonathan spent the next 7 years in almost absolute solitude as a result of Dio basically isolating him in his attempt to destroy Jona and become the sole heir of the Joestar fortune. It is also through these seven years that we can see George and Dio often bonding as father and son.
It’s also at some point during these 7 years that Jonathan starts studying archaeology while Dio pursues a law career (could be inferred it was part of his plan to get the Joestars’ fortune, but that’s never truly mentioned).
1888 comes. At some point in this year, Dio visits Wang Chen’s shop located in Ogre Street to buy the poison he would later use on his adoptive father, George.
1888, still: George Joestar falls “ill” at some point here. We are also told about Jack The Ripper's activity being at it's peak around this time. Based on the info available about the period of activity of real life's Ripper as well as other info given later on in PB, George’s “illness” should have happened somewhere between early-to-mid September (or late-ish September at most).
Days later, Jonathan finds Dario Brando’s letter in the library of the Joestars, which seems to incriminate Dio in regards to George’s “illness”.
Going mainly by some of the actual dates given later on, it can be inferred that Jojo’s trip to London (Ogre Street) take place somewhere in early to mid October, 1888.
After leaving the Joestar estate, it takes Jonathan at least 3-ish days to get to Ogre Street.
October, 1888, Jonathan and Speedwagon meet for the first time. Worried about Jojo, Speedwagon resolves to follow and help him. They both go to Wang Chen’s shop, get the antidote Jojo was looking for, they capture Wang Chen and start travelling back to Liverpool, all likely in the same night/day.
It takes another 3 days for Jonathan, now along with Speedwagon and a captured Wang Chen, to get back to Liverpool. Basically, Jonathan was away from his home for about 7 or 8 days.
Around a day or two shy from Jojo coming back home is when we see Dio getting drunk by the docks in Liverpool, where he ends up killing a drunkard and turning the man’s companion into a vampire.
It is implied that the timeframe between the sunrise that kills the vampire and the moment Dio gets back to the Joestar estate is of at least a whole day. It’s possible that it could have been 2 days even, considering that Dio comes back home clean, with his injuries (which included a broken collarbone and a serious blood loss) bandaged and patched, meaning that he most likely took the time to get his injuries properly treated. This idea could also be supported by the fact that George seems to be doing much better now compared to days prior. As effective as an antidote can be, it’s very unlikely for it to give such considerable results in less than 24 hours. There’s also the fact that the place is ‘packed’ with policemen and everything is set up and ready by the time Dio gets back.
Later on on the night Dio gets back, George Joestar gets killed along with all the policemen there and Dio becomes a vampire.
The fight and eventual fire at the Joestar mansion takes place over the course of that same night.
Still on that same night (seemingly before dawn), after the fight has ended and despite his own heavy injuries, Speedwagon manages to carry an unconscious Jonathan to a hospital.
Given Speedwagon's nature and behavior towards Jonathan, it could be inferred that he is forced to leave the hospital over the course of the following day to Jonathan’s admission into the hospital, most likely due to his backgrounds and ‘seedy’ looks (as hinted later on). This paired up with the fact that he most likely used whatever money and goods he had on him to cover at the very least Jojo’s admittance to the hospital, its very likely that Spw ended up with no means to pay for proper healthcare for himself and had to go get his own injuries and broken bones treated somewhere else, coming back 3 days later. Considering we see his Ogre Street friends tagging along when he comes to visit, it’s very likely that they all met somewhere halfway between London and Liverpool, or even somewhere within Liverpool (given the 3 day window we have here, as well as Spw showing up bandaged).
That day when Speedwagon comes back is also the day him and Erina meet for the first time in a less than savory way, Speedwagon is once again forced to leave.
That same night, past midnight, Speedwagon breaks into the hospital where he witnesses Jonathan regain consciousness and, also, learns a little bit about the background between the Jojo and Erina.
It is implied that it is until the following day that Speedwagon finally gets to see a now conscious Jonathan.
It can be inferred that Jojo’s stay at the hospital was about a week or a couple weeks long at least considering the degree of his injuries (burns, broken bones, cuts/stab wounds, traumas, etc) and the fact that he wasn’t a hamon user by then, meaning that his healing process was the same to that of any other average human.
It’s also very likely that Jojo meets Zeppeli (and learns that Dio is still alive) about a month/month and a half after the fire at the mansion, as we can see Jojo has mostly recovered by the time they meet, being his arm the only part that seems to have not reached a full recovery yet (broken bones usually take about a month or a little more to fully heal on average). All of this is also supported by the fact that the next time we see Speedwagon, his own injuries (which also included broken bones) are completely healed as well.
This same day that Jojo and Will meet, Jojo becomes a hamon user and heals completely. By this point, it should be around mid-November already.
It’s somewhere around those weeks/month that Jojo was recovering that a now zombified Wang Chen took a heavily injured Dio to London, where they met Jack The Ripper and "recruited" him, before the three went to hide in Windknight’s Lot. It’s also very likely that the three of them began “kidnapping” townspeople from Windknight’s Lot around this time as well, giving Dio plenty of time to heal almost completely by the time we see him again.
Zeppeli begins to train with Jonathan as soon as they meet. The intensive training by the river lasts 2 weeks only.
It’s by the end of the second week of training that Wang Chen shows up and is allowed to escape as a part of Zeppeli's plan. During the last days of the training as well, Speedwagon sets off to gather information from his sources in the crime world about Dio’s possible whereabouts and the group heads out to Windknight’s Lot right away. It's late November already by this point.
It’s also vaguely implied that Jonathan has moved and has been living in London for a bit, and so it takes a whole day for the group to get to Windknight’s Lot (it’s stated that Windknight’s is a day-ride away from London, going to the South).
During the morning of November 30th/December 1st (1888 still), the group reaches the entrance tunnel to Windknight’s Lot.
The reason behind this not having a clear date is because the fight between Jonathan and Dio at the castle takes place on Dec 1st, but it’s possible that it happened either during the first hours of Dec 1st (meaning that the group reached Windknight’s on the morning of Nov 30th and that the fight against Dio took place after midnight), or that they arrived to Windknight’s on the morning of Dec 1st and that the fight took place around the late part of the day and before Dec 1st’s midnight. Either way, most of the events we see in this arc (the encounter with Poco, the battles against Bruford and Tarkus, Zeppeli’s death, the arrival of the monks from Tibet, the encounters with Dio and so on), all of them happen in less than 24 hours, as pointed out by Speedwagon to Poco by the end of the final battle at Dio’s castle, as Spw cradles and takes care of an exhausted Jonathan, but let’s break it down a little:
The group is intercepted in the tunnel by Jack The Ripper at some point in the morning, shortly after the group’s arrival.
The fight against Jack The Ripper probably takes at the very least about an hour or so. Then add whatever time it took Jonathan to continue training and also heal his and Speedwagon’s wounds from the fight (Zeppeli and Speedwagon were hostile towards each other by this point, plus Jona was still training his hamon in every way he could, so it’s a given that Jojo healed Speedwagon). Also add the time it took them to get out of the tunnel by foot and finally reach the actual town.
By the time we meet Poco, the sun is about to set. Nights are particularly long in England during Autumn/Winter, with the Sun starting to set around 4pm, so that could more or less be an estimate of the time of the day here at this point.
By the time the group crosses the lake and Dio finally shows up it’s dark already. He then ‘awakens’ Bruford and Tarkus. Bruford is defeated after what it’s assumed to have been a long fight, however, Tarkus manages to strike the first loss for the Joestar group...
There’s no date set in stone (as it could be either Nov 30th or Dec 1st as stated before) but, on this same day, Will Zeppeli dies.
Just hours later, after the also long chase and battle against Tarkus, on the same day too, Dire also dies. A trivia of sorts that no one mentions is how Zeppeli and Dire were close friends for more than two decades and how they coincidentally shared a similar fate, dying a cruel death and on the same day, just a few hours apart from each other.
Also, December 1st, 1888: Dio is defeated and assumed dead.
The official report of the missing persons in Windknight’s is dated December 1st, although it is documented and made public until December 4th.
By December 15th, over two weeks after Dio's "death", we are told that Jonathan, Speedwagon, Straizo and Tonpety haven’t left Windknight’s Lot yet. This is also the day when the stone mask that the Joestars kept in their home for years was finally destroyed. There is no official date set for the group’s return to London, but it could be assumed they left Windknight’s in the following days after this.
December, 1888 (no specific day set): Lisa Lisa was born.
February 2nd, 1889, Jonathan and Erina get married.
The scene at the docks, when everyone comes to say their goodbyes to the newlyweds as they prepare for their honeymoon, takes place on February 3rd.
The last days of peace after the battle in Windkight’s Lot go by, during the cruise (Feb 3rd to Feb 7th). Then, that day, Dio strikes again and...
February 7th, Jonathan Joestar dies.
Also Feb 7th, both of Lisa Lisa’s biological parents die along with almost every other passenger on the cruise.
On February 9th, after two days in the open sea, Erina and the baby are rescued in the Canary Islands, Spain. It is unclear when she got back to England, though, but it most likely happened days later, shortly after a brief stay at a local hospital to make sure the baby and her were in good condition to be sent back home.
And that’s pretty much it as far as PB goes! After this point (and before Part 2 takes place), we can also add:
May 22nd, 1889, the group photo that we see later on of Straizo, Speedwagon, baby Lisa Lisa, and Erina got taken on this date.
1889 -no day/month specified-, George Joestar II is born (around the second half of the year).
There’s no specific date/year set, but according to the Jojo Magazine, Speedwagon travels to America in the early 20th century (somewhere between 1900 and 1905-ish, most likely) where he finds oil in the Texas desert and creates his oil company.
1910, using the financial power and wealth amassed through his oil company, the Speedwagon Foundation is created.
Stuff from this point and on falls under the Battle Tendency timeline, so I’m leaving it here.
Please let me know if you notice any mistakes at any point or if you see I missed something so I can add or fix stuff accordingly. I re-read this whole thing god-knows-how-many-times but its still possible I missed some stuff!

Now back with the 7th and 8th sets! 😁😁
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This could be last featuring well-known Rosa and Barks characters so expect some potraits in future to be of obscure(kind of) characters. Again, if you're not familiar with some characters, keep reading 😊
For the 7th set, which just includes Scrooge's ancestors, we have:
1.) Sir Roast McDuck(1159-1205) - succeeded his father, Stuft McDuck, as clan chief, at which point Clan McDuck was one of the richest clans in Scotland, though that didn't last long.
2.) Hugh "Seafoam" McDuck(1710-1776) - was a McDuck ancestor who settled in Glasgow in 1727. Hugh turned to the sea for a living and became a successful merchant, though that didn't last long too.
3.) Sir Swamphole McDuck(1190-1260) - succeeded his father Roast McDuck as clan chief and inherited the clan's financial problems. Believed to have sealed the castle dungeons due to that.
4.) Sir Stuft McDuck(1110-1175) - was a successful chief of Clan McDuck who oversaw a period of prosperity.
5.) Sir Eider McDuck(880-946) - was the chief of Clan McDuck during an Anglo-Saxon invasion in 946.
6.) Malcolm "Matey" McDuck(1530-1564?) - was a McDuck ancestor who settled in England and is suggested to be a previous incarnation of Scrooge McDuck.
7.) Sir Quackly McDuck(1010-1057) - was clan chief when King Macbeth was killed in 1057. Quackly's ghost was an important figure in Scrooge's life.
8.) Sir Simon McDuck(1437-1509) - was the treasurer of the Knights Templar and hid their treasure beneath McDuck Castle.
— Sir Simon McDuck is a creation of Don Rosa and is featured in his story, "A Letter From Home"(2004). All others were created by Carl Barks, though some of them didn't made any physical appearances till Don Rosa.
For the 6th set, we have:
1.)-3.) Huey, Dewey, Louie - Donald's nephews, Della's triplets.
4.) Cornelius Coot - Elvira's grandfather, the founder of Duckburg.
5.)-7.) April, May, June - Daisy's nieces.
8.) Pintail Duck - Donald's ancestor, a companion of Malcolm McDuck.
— Huey, Dewey, Louie are characters made by Ted Osborne and Al Taliaferro while others are originally made by Carl Barks.
Note : Some of the portraits here were previously used in my other tree though if you look closely, there's some differences. It is because I've changed it a bit. There's a chance that I might do it again which means that the portraits here are not the final version.

THE DESCRIPTION OF SAINT FRANCIS XAVIER The Patron of Foreign Missions Feast Day: December 3
"Many, many people hereabouts are not becoming Christians for one reason only: there is nobody to make them Christians."
He was born Francisco de Jasso y Azpilicueta on April 7, 1506 at Javier, Kingdom of Navarre in northern Spain to an influential noble family. He was the youngest son of Don Juan de Jasso y Atondo, Lord of Idocín, president of the Royal Council of the Kingdom of Navarre, and seneschal of the Castle of Xavier and Doña María de Azpilcueta y Aznárez, sole heiress to the Castle of Xavier. Miguel de Jasso (later Miguel de Javier), his brother, became Lord of Xavier and Idocín at the death of his parents.
In 1512, Ferdinand, King of Aragon and regent of Castile, invaded Navarre, initiating a war that lasted over 18 years. Three years later, Francis's father died when Francis was only nine years old. In 1516, Francis's brothers participated in a failed Navarrese-French attempt to expel the Spanish invaders from the kingdom. The Spanish Governor, Cardinal Cisneros, confiscated the family lands, demolished the outer wall, the gates, and two towers of the family castle, and filled in the moat. In addition, the height of the keep was reduced by half.
In 1525, Francis went to study in Paris at the Collège Sainte-Barbe, University of Paris, where he spent the next eleven years. In the early days he acquired some reputation as an athlete and a high-jumper. Four years later, Francis shared lodgings with his friend Pierre Favre. A new student, Íñigo López de Oñaz y Loyola (later Ignatius of Loyola), came to room with them. At 38, Ignatius was much older than Pierre and Francis, who were both 23 at the time. Ignatius convinced Pierre to become a priest, but was unable to convince Francis, who had aspirations of worldly advancement. At first, Francis regarded the new lodger as a joke and was sarcastic about his efforts to convert students. When Pierre left their lodgings to visit his family and Ignatius was alone with Francis, he was able to slowly break down Francis's resistance. In 1530, Francis received the degree of Master of Arts, and afterwards taught Aristotelian philosophy at Beauvais College, University of Paris.
Francis began his study of theology in 1534 and was ordained on June 24, 1537. In 1539, after long discussions, Ignatius drew up a formula for a new religious order, the Society of Jesus. Ignatius's plan for the order was approved by Pope Paul III in 1540.
Francis was sent as a missionary to India. After a voyage of 13 months, he began preaching in the Portuguese colony of Goa (a state on the southwestern coast of India within the Konkan region), defending the natives from injustices and abuses. He was particularly outraged that some masters counted the blows inflicted on the slaves on the beads of their rosaries. Five months later, he preached with such enthusiasm among the Paravas on the Pearl Fishery Coast that most of them asked to be baptized. He also knew how to accept defeat, as when he preached for 12 months among the Brahmans obtaining only one conversion.
In Malacca in December 1547, Francis Xavier met a Japanese man named Anjirō (or Yajirō). had heard of Francis in 1545 and had travelled from Kagoshima to Malacca to meet him. Having been charged with murder, Anjirō had fled Japan. He told Francis extensively about his former life, and the customs and culture of his homeland. Anjirō became the first Japanese Christian and adopted the name 'Paulo de Santa Fé'. He later helped Xavier as a mediator and interpreter for the mission to Japan that now seemed much more possible. Francis returned to Goa to attend to his responsibilities as superior of the mission there in January 1548. The next 15 months were occupied with various journeys and administrative measures. He left Goa on April 15, 1549, stopped at Malacca, and visited Canton. He was accompanied by Anjiro, two other Japanese men, Father Cosme de Torrès and Brother Juan Fernández. He had taken with him presents for the 'King of Japan (the Emperor)' since he was intending to introduce himself as the Apostolic Nuncio.
With Anjirō and three other Jesuits, Xavier reached Japan on July 27, 1549, but he was not permitted to enter any port his ship arrived at until August 15th, when he went ashore at Kagoshima, the principal port of Satsuma Province on the island of Kyūshū. As a representative of the Portuguese king, he was received in a friendly manner. Takahisa Shimazu, the fifttenth head of the Shimazu clan, the son of Tadayoshi and daimyo (feudal lord) of Satsuma, gave a friendly reception to Francis on September 29, 1549, but in the following year he forbade the conversion of his subjects to Christianity under penalty of death; Christians in Kagoshima could not be given any catechism in the following years. Francis was the first Jesuit to go to Japan as a missionary.
He brought with him paintings of the Madonna and the Madonna and Child. These paintings were used to help teach the Japanese about Christianity. There was a huge language barrier as Japanese was unlike other languages the missionaries had previously encountered. For a long time, Francis struggled to learn the language. He was hosted by Anjirō's family until October 1550. He resided in Yamaguchi from October tom December 1550. Shortly before Christmas, he left for Kyoto but failed to meet with the Emperor. He returned to Yamaguchi in March 1551, where the daimyo of the province gave him permission to preach.
Having presented some gifts to them, a music box, a clock and a pair of spectacles. He was allowed to evangelize the people. It was Francis' opinion: 'That among all unbelievers, no finer people will be found than the Japanese.'
During his trip from Japan back to India, a tempest forced him to stop on an island near Guangzhou, Guangdong, China, where he met Diogo Pereira, a rich merchant and an old friend from Cochin. Pereira showed him a letter from Portuguese prisoners in Guangzhou, asking for a Portuguese ambassador to speak to the Chinese Emperor on their behalf. Later during the voyage, he stopped at Malacca on December 27, 1551, and was back in Goa by January 1552. He set sail with Diogo Pereira on the Santa Cruz for China. He planned to introduce himself as Apostolic Nuncio and Pereira as the ambassador of the King of Portugal. But then he realized that he had forgotten his testimonial letters as an Apostolic Nuncio. Back in Malacca, he was confronted by the captain Álvaro de Ataíde da Gama who now had total control over the harbour. The captain refused to recognize his title of Nuncio, asked Pereira to resign from his title of ambassador, named a new crew for the ship, and demanded the gifts for the Chinese Emperor be left in Malacca.
In late August 1552, the Santa Cruz reached the Chinese island of Shangchuan, 14 km away from the southern coast of mainland China, near Taishan, Guangdong, 200 km south-west of what later became Hong Kong. At this time, he was accompanied only by a Jesuit student, Álvaro Ferreira, a Chinese man called António, and a Malabar servant called Christopher. Around mid-November, he sent a letter saying that a man had agreed to take him to the mainland in exchange for a large sum of money. Having sent back Álvaro Ferreira, he remained alone with António. He died from a fever at Shangchuan, Taishan, China, on December 3, 1552, while he was waiting for a boat that would take him to mainland China. He was 46 years old when he died.
Beatified by Pope Paul V on October 25, 1619 and canonized a saint by Pope Gregory XV on March 12, 1622, his body is now in the Basilica of Bom Jesus in Goa, where it was placed in a glass container encased in a silver casket. This casket, constructed by Goan silversmiths between 1636 and 1637, was an exemplary blend of Italian and Indian aesthetic sensibilities.
In 1624, he was made co-patron of Navarre, and he is considered to be one of the greatest missionaries since St. Paul the Apostle. In 1927, Pope Pius XI published the decree 'Apostolicorum in Missionibus' naming Francis Xavier, along with Thérèse of Lisieux, co-patron of all foreign missions.

Jan van Wechelen - Peasants merrymaking at a village kermesse -
oil on canvas, height: 49.3 cm (19.4 in); width: 63.7 cm (25 in)
Jan van Wechelen or Hans van Wechelen (c. 1530 – 1570) was a Flemish painter and draughtsman active in Antwerp in the middle of the 16th century known for his landscapes, biblical subjects and genre scenes.
Only a few works by Jan van Wechelen are known to exist as most of his oeuvre was destroyed by war and the Iconoclasm of the 16th century. The majority of these are landscapes and religious scenes. His oeuvre also includes a few genres scenes and an architectural painting of a church interior. The artist’s work enjoyed an excellent reputation at the beginning of the 17th century and was collected by Rubens as well as the prominent art collectors Cornelis van der Geest and Pieter Stevens.
Jan van Wechelen collaborated regularly with fellow Antwerp artist Cornelis van Dalem. Van Wechelen was a gifted staffage painter and his dignified figures are regarded as well suited to van Dalem’s landscapes. At least three such collaborations between the two artists are suspected. This includes a Landscape with nomads (also known as Landscape with gypsies at the Staatliche Kunsthalle Karlsruhe. This painting likely represents a family of gypsies as a seated woman wears the distinctive oval white hat which was a common indicator for a gypsy woman in 16th century Flemish paintings.
Jan van Wechelen produced three versions of a composition representing a village kermesse with peasants making merry. The prime version painted on panel is now in a private European collection, while two other versions were sold at Sotheby’s respectively on 1 April 1992 (lot 57, on panel) and 5 December 2007 (lot 19, on canvas). There are some differences between the various versions.
Jan van Wechelen succeeded in these genre scenes to bring the kermesses to life. He was close to Pieter Brueghel the Elder in his ability to animate these picturesque scenes with a great number of characters with comical and delightful attitudes. The realism in his genre paintings reveal a rather profane spirit while his lines with clearly emphasized forms connect his work to the rigorist trends that were developing in the Low Countries around 1540

I think some historians are more sympathetic to Jane Seymour than Anne Boleyn because she was not really spoken about like she was the driving force of a faction, whereas Anne was. Thoughts?
Well, historians tend to argue for their in/significance depending on what theory they believe has the strongest weight.
It's difficult to compare because we have such different eras of influence and spotlight, as it were, for these women as they were primed for the throne. Anne's was six years and Jane's was, generously six months, arguably more like five (January-May 1536, even then, February is the first we hear of her in any capacity), some historians don't even mark it until April 1536, in which case it's more like two.
But for what we have, maybe? Jane was 1 for 2 in political influence (again...generously); complete failure during her tenure as mistress/'betrothed' (again, it's hard to mark when that was, we don't have the equivalent of either emerald ring or diamond-ship to mark acceptance, we sort of just assume marriage was discussed) to reinstate Princess Mary, success in sowing doubts about the legitimacy of Henry's marriage. Here, Anne had the advantage, it's entirely possible the first time she heard of doubts of validity for Henry's to Catherine had been ten years prior, in Mechelen (as that’s the earliest they crop up).
During the six-month-period, it’s Edward that's mentioned more than Jane by (I almost said contemporaries, but actually just realized it’s) Chapuys (only), second to Gertrude Blount and Nicholas Carew. Comparatively, we have, by the fall of Wolsey (1529):
The duke of Norfolk is made chief of the Council, Suffolk acting in his absence, and, at the head of all, Mademoiselle Anne. (Du Bellay)
And at the same time, Chapuys is rating her influence on the royal prerogative just as highly, if not more so, only with a more negative slant.
GW Bernard has argued that this should be disregarded, as later Du Bellay ‘contradicts himself’, and must have with time, developed a more realistic view:
Lady Anne has presented Du Bellay with a hunting frock and hat, horn and greyhound. Tells him this to show him how the affection of the king of England for Francis increases, for all that the Lady does is by the King's order.  (Du Bellay, 1532)
However, A) I don’t find these statements to be contradictory...the former suggests Anne has the most influence with the King, not over the King (of course it’s more realistic that she would be directed by him, but the former doesn’t imply that she wasn’t!), B) There are contemporary reports from 1530- onwards that, actually, that was the case (Anne directing Henry); and enough of them from enough various sources that they can’t be disregarded entirely.
And besides, the remark from the year of 1529 does have other corroboration, in the form of Cromwell writing to Wolsey:
"None dares speak to the King on his part for fear of Madame Anne's displeasure.”
We also have, not only Anne, but Anne’s parents being referred to as figures to be feared (even by the papal envoy, apparently), her parents and George Boleyn being referred to and regarded as figures that it was necessary to fete, flatter, gift, and draw favour from, if one ever wanted to gain royal favour, we don’t have anything similar in regards to Jane (a scant few, for favour, once she’s Queen, but not as many as for her predecessor’s reign, and no successful intercession), for Jane’s parents, or even really to Edward, until years later on the latter.
Anyway, I assume you’re speaking more to the time before they were Queens, than after, but my feeling is sort of that... if Jane had lived, Cromwell would have always overshadowed her, whereas Anne, for the time in which she was, held her own.

Subject Notes -- 4/6/24
0812 -- Selah woke up, looked around the room, sighed and went back to bed.
0953 -- Andras woke up, sighed, and got up, meticulously adjusting his clothing to make sure he was covered.
0957 to 1042 -- Andras paced restlessly, glaring at the cameras in the room.
1128 -- I brought Andras lunch, he didn't speak to me as he ate it and then when he was finished, threw the tray at me. No injuries. Andras is particularly aggressive today. I think Selah has a nightmare. I left after collecting lunch waste. {Added napkin to April lunch bin}.
1230 -- I took Andras outside. He did not engage in conversation and kept pretending he was going to eat poisonous weeds to alarm me. I unfortunately rose to the bait. No injuries.
1530 -- We returned to their room. Andras ignored me. Spent time attempting to conversate about state of unease. Unsuccessful. Only thing Andras said was, "I thought you knew us so well, doctor, figure it out."
1643 -- Andras cleaned the room with the harmfree supplies I gave them.
1712 to 1730 -- Andras sat in bed and stared at the wall until dinner was brought. This time he asked me to sit in front of the door.
1735 to 1910 -- We sat in silence until Andras told me to "Get out."
2016 -- Andras went to sleep.
Today was mostly unsuccessful but I feel he asked me to stay as it was added security. This is progress. I will observe until I sleep, and try again tomorrow.
Note break --
Andras looked very beautiful chomping his teeth at the camera today. I wanted to stick my fingers in his mouth.

April 4
Today in history has been a busy day in the world of radio and television station debuts.
WKRC-TV (April 4, 1949)
youtube
WKRC-TV, channel 12, Cincinnati, Ohio's ABC affiliate, signed on the air on this date 75 years ago. It is the second oldest television station that serves the Cincinnati area, and is still an ABC affiliate. The call sign was derived from the initials of the original owner of WKRC-AM, Clarence Ogden, who founded the Kodel Radio Company.
WYTV (April 4, 1953)
youtube
WYTV in Youngstown, Ohio, celebrates 71 years on the air today. It was originally known as WKST-TV for the first ten years that it was broadcasting, as it was partnered with WKST-AM 1200 in New Castle, Pennsylvania. The original call sign stood for the city of New Castle (KaSTle). Then, in 1963, the call letters changed to WYTV, simply standing for Youngstown TeleVision.
KFDA-TV (April 4, 1953)
youtube
Along with WYTV, Amarillo, Texas' CBS affiliate KFDA-TV celebrates its 71st birthday today. It is the second television station to sign on and serve the market in Amarillo, the first being KAMR-TV, who signed on in March of the same year. The call sign has stayed the same throughout the 71 years that KFDA-TV has broadcasted, the Amarillo Broadcasting Company suggesting they use the same call letters as their radio station that had been broadcasting since 1939. Unfortunately, we are unsure of what the call sign represents.
WPWR-TV (April 4, 1982)
youtube
A young station compared to many, WPWR-TV, the MyNetworkTV affiliate in Gary, Indiana, celebrates 42 years as a station today. It began as an independent station splitting time between the English WPWR-TV, and the Spanish language WBBS-TV. It then became an affiliate of UPN in 1995, MyNetworkTV in 2006, the CW IN 2016, then made a return to MyNetworkTV. These days, it shares a frequency with WFLD, Chicago's FOX affiliate. The call letters are easy to figure out -- PoWeR.
