please watch Nahuel y el libro mágico (Nahuel and the magic book, in english). it's so good!!! it's an animated movie from chile/brazil and it's beautiful. it's on disney+ for some reason (it's not even a disney production at all) so if you can, you should watch it legally to support it!

I attempted to draw a portrait of @michaelsali9262004, a fanboy that loves Nahuel and the Magic Book (Nahuel y El Libro Magico), Gravity Falls and Steven Universe.

In case some people don’t know, there’s a chilean/brazilian animated movie coming soon called “Nahuel y el Libro Mágico”, that’s heavily based on Mapuche and Chiloe mythology, and with a lot of inspiration from Studio Ghibli, and it looks delightful.
The movie’s directed by Germán Acuña (who also produces and wrote the script), and it’s made by different animation studios in Chile and Brazil, including Carburadores, Levante Films, Red Animation Studios, Dragao Studios, LMS Studios, Draftoons Studios and Punkrobot Studios (who produced the Oscar winning animated short film “Historia de un Oso/Bear Story”).
Here’s the english wikipedia page in case anyone want to learn more about the movie.

Beautiful project from Chile’s Latido Films, animated by animation studios Carburadores: the 2D feature film Nahuel y el Libro Mágico (Nahuel and the Magic Book).
The movie centers on young Nahuel, who lives with his father in a fishing town yet has a deep fear of the sea. One day, he finds a magical book that seems to offer the solution to his problem in the form of an ancient spell — but a dark sorcerer is after the tome, and captures Nahuel’s father. Here, the boy’s fantastical adventure and greatest challenge begins: to rescue his father while overcoming his deepest fear.
“The film feeds from different myths and folk legends of the Chiloé archipelago,”  director Germán Acuña explained in an interview. “This southern part of Chile is very special, some places feel frozen in time and nature can unfold in front of your eyes in very dramatic and beautiful ways. To me, the most attractive thing is the mythological level that exists there: an amalgam between local indigenous culture, mixed with the religious traditions imposed by the Europeans that arrived there.”
The film premieres November 9 as part of the American Film Market.

Nahuel y El Libro Magico Trailer
I haven’t seen anyone talk about this Movie so I will
“Nahuel is a curious boy who has a deep fear of the sea. One day, he come across a mysterious book that seems to be the solution of his trouble. What he doesn't know is the book is really magical, and Kalku, an ambitious warlock is after it.”
Directed and produced by German Acuña this movie is based on Mapuche Mythology and was made in Chilean companies Carburadores and Punkrobot.
As of now the movie is hard to get your hands on but if you are able to do so supporting movies like these would go a long way not to mention overall it is very interesting. Even if you don’t speak Spanish just look at it.
And here is an article written about it

Soooo today gf and I are going to go see this movie that's called Nahuel y el Libro magico, which is basically Encanto but Chilean. But not quite Encanto... More like, The Owl House?
It's been teased to drop for years, and it got thrown in the back burner because it was made by an independent studio during the height of the pandemic! And also its made by the guys who won the first Chilean Oscar for animation, Bear Story!
So I'm definitely excited because we are two animation nerds... I mean, look at this!
Tumblr media
For what the trailers tell, it's got a Gravity Falls vibe but it's on the ocean, and Nahuel (the kid in blue) is deadly afraid of it. So he finds this book who he believes will solve all his problems... But a witch (bird guy, who I deeply believe is El Tetue, a Mapuche Witch who turns into a bird) steals it AND kidnaps Nahuel's father.
I made a presentation on Chilean Cinematography and dude... Look at this visuals. It looks so pretty in comparison to the usual chilean animation tv shows we get because the government always cuts off their funding half-way through. I'm so excited to see this movie made by an actual studio with the idea of creating something for a bigger demographic than the usual "kids who get up too early and we have to entertain so the parents sleep"
Tumblr media
HERE'S THE TRAILER, GO SEE IT!
I really don't know if the movie will come out in English, but... Dude, I had to watch a Encanto, a movie made for a Spanish speaking demographic in English because that's just how it is experienced best. The movie wasn't made to be watched in Spanish at all. But Nahuel y el Libro magico was made by a team of Spanish speaking people with a Spanish dub in mind instead of marketability. So yes, if you can watch it online with subtitles, watch it.
If you want to pay for the movie and not pirate it (which I highly encourage because it's an indie studio and not disney) and you speak Spanish, you can go to a Chilean movie theater's website (say, cinemark dot CL and cineplanet dot CL) and you can watch it online by buying a ticket for an online cinema.
This movie is gonna be amazing, I just know it.
