Planning for most of my characters: “They’re a vampire from a royal bloodline who were framed for the murder of a family member” “They’re an angel who’s race is not holy at all, but more alien in nature, and they’re fighting to save human kind” “They’re trying to find redemption for awful things they’ve done a long time ago, but are a better person now to who they were back then...” Me this morning: “Lol I like Salem, I want a talking cat character”

redhoodhungergames, the post editor in responding to asks is absolutely useless, so I had to write this out as a separate post, then it wouldn’t copy over. So I’m just responding like this.  For those who need highlightable text:
redhoodhungergames said:
Just out of pure curiosity; what was the exact moment you fell for Knightfall? Like, shipping wise what happened that you suddenly became a fan of it?
Without further ado:
oh the face I made receiving this in my inbox. Very good sir. I think it was a little like the devilish Grinch grin. I just want to talk about Knightfall all day. To tell you God’s honest truth, to trace me shipping Knightfall is actually tracing the day RWBY changed for me, and I became a complete, unabashed fan.
Okay, well to set the scene:
1. I've watched RWBY since V1. Not knocking at all on new fans or trying to lord my superiority. Rather, that the show has been a constant companion for me and my opinion of the show has changed over time. I was a Red vs. Blue fan, lol. I used to watch it with my older brother.
2. Cinder and Jaune were two of my favourite characters from the get-go. I didn't really ship anything in the show, except Emerald/Mercury, and then when V3 aired I had ideas about Yang/Mercury (yes I know) and Qrow/Ironwood (which later in V7 I wrote some fic for which is honestly horrible and honestly I hate that ship now. Please don't mention it near me lolol. Not knocking on anybody who still likes it, once again, because people get defensive. I just regret being invested, not because of Ironwood's fall, but more that I wasted time on a ship I don't feel... was very good or interesting. It was a very stressful time for me taking Ancient Greek, though, and I think it was a good distraction).
3. Then, er, in summary I began shipping it at the end of Volume 7. I know, I know, but they had no interaction then??? Why would you ship it then??
That’s a great question!
Because that was when I realised my sympathy for Cinder had not been misplaced.
Tumblr media
[continued under the cut]
I had been ambivalent about it for a time; unsure if I would be burnt for caring about her, not when villains are bad and they all die in the end anyway. When everybody else in FNDM for a long time had hated her guts (I spent a lot of time on r/RWBY) or dismissed her. I had always felt she was more complicated than she appeared, with certain decisions about this animation or that (V4′s intro in particular), and I had long loved her.
Tumblr media
The noise I made at these lines, you have no idea. This was when RWBY changed for me.
Tumblr media
THIS was when I realised the show was going to do what I thought it was going to do, or at least, it was going to explore the idea that maybe Cinder is more complex than she appears. ‘Redemption arc’ or no, Cinder mattered.
I made this meme, actually, right after the finale:
Tumblr media
posted it, moved on with my life. Lol.
Then I was kind of in shock for a while. I had really, really loved the Salem/Ozma backstory. I was already, by this point, in the ‘RWBY is awesome actually’ mindset, and I had loved the show since V3, liked it enough before that. But I didn’t know it would actually commit to the stuff I knew on a conscious and subconscious level I really cared about. I mean, yeah, bad wizard and bad witch in LOVE????? with each other at the HEART OF THE CONFLICT? That’s me. But Salem was who she was now, deathless, unkillable, and like, would they go thaaaaaat far with her?? She’s obviously been paralleled to Adam, and horrible things have happened, would the show want to heal her?? (Of course, the answer is symbolically much, much more interesting than that...)
I am but a soft, gentle heart, afraid of being hurt for loving the wrong character... I am a very ambivalent, easy to scare type of person, and really, the amount of time I’ve spent now in the corner with this ship is unusual for me. Anyway.
So how did I get to Knightfall? Because I went back and rewatched the show and then I fucking noticed.
Tumblr media
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
that was when it clicked. He challenges her, THIS ALL MATTERS, I wasn’t being stupid and wasting my time caring about Cinder! We need to know why she’s like this! He wants to know why she’s like this! This is both structurally interesting and also contains that ineffability... that ship magic where one person wants to know more about the other, for good or ill, conflict be damned: why can you kill? Why did you kill her? He won’t get the answer now, but he might.
Oh, also, this is hot and I’m sorry.
Tumblr media
Probably the most erotically charged shot in the show. Her fucking thigh and her fucking foot on his fucking chest. Good grief. I need my smelling salts and a chaise lounge.
And then Knightfall is Salem/Ozma in reverse, just like Reylo is Reverse Anidala, and it was all over for me. Seriously. I know people hate Reylo, I couldn’t give two shits; the part that mattered to me about Reylo is that it is Padme as the main character now, both of them living again, figuring out how to heal their romance in reverse, the wound in the Force from her early death healed, his paranoia and tragic fall because of her death, now instead finding her living again, and he too - it justified the Sequel Trilogy, in my eyes, but the part that really mattered is like... generational inheritance. That part. That part I care about.
So I don’t think Jaune and Cinder are literally Ozma and Salem, but rather that, in the show, there are these intergenerational answers to each other to heal the wound of the story. I love this. Oh, and then I saw a post by user luiminigh which basically also said ‘it’s Reverse Salem/Ozma’ and that drove me mad because SOMEBODY ELSE SAW IT. I don’t follow them but I am aware of their blog, and I would like to credit that an off-the-cuff Tumblr post actually led me to have the confidence to post about the ship on my Tumblr blog as frequently as I do.
Anyway, this, intersecting with them being two of my favourite characters (Cinder: angry, hungry, clever, ambitious, traumatised, a mixture of femininity/masculinity in a really realistic and interesting way, funny, wonderful voice, ugh, ‘Do you believe in destiny?’ ‘Yes.’ I love characters who do; Jaune: soft, silly, has a transformative journey integrating feminine characteristics (traditionally speaking), headstrong, sad, angry, funny, very cute also, both of them are are), basically made me lose it and go oh okay.
The stuff I care about matters. That’s just the part, to me, that decides my engagement. I don’t want to put all this effort into something that doesn’t even care about me as an audience. I hated the Rise of Skywalker for a few reasons (Rose is nowhere to be seen, Finn doesn’t lead the Stormtrooper rebellion, Poe is a drug dealer? Ben is a Dark Fuck Prince, whereas in TLJ, and even TFA, he’s soft and cries when he sees how lonely Rey is; jeez, what else, oh; ‘you have his power’, attributing Rey’s power to a patriarchal figure...) and most of all it resents its audience and caters to the few.
Also, people had always said on the subreddit Cinder would kill Jaune, because Jeanne d’Arc was burnt for heresy. Cinder is, famously, fire-themed.
I think, if Knightfall has a sincere chance of going canon, it’s because it answers this intertextuality differently. Flame has a lot of duplicity in meaning (life-giving as well as a force of destruction), and I think if Cinder’s character evolves into working with team RWBY, it will be answering this other half of her. And like flame is life-giving - think Prometheus, as well - fire is often used in the context of love - flames of love, or the imagery of the sacred burning heart, along the lines of Jeanne d’Arc and Christianity lol, what else... anyway, it could be a different answer.
Such to the point it reminded me of that RWBY theme of... things not quite being as they appear.
Tumblr media
but are inherently obvious in their structure, once you know how to look.
Tumblr media
And it’s really funny that it’s Cinder who says this to Oz, which is more of that Salem/Ozma goodness, with the wrong dance partners. But most of all, she’s one of the most disguised characters in the show, literally wearing a mask, either a performative one (V1-3, with a femme fatale persona, and also like Madame) or an actual one (V4 onwards).
I think of her as the fallen half of the moon. She’s Jaune’s anima (in the Jungian sense), but she’s also an answer to Ruby. In some way she parallels virtually all of the main characters. But there’s like, this total, obvious, endgame answer right in your face:
Tumblr media
Yeah. I think this is a case of ironic prophecy.
Then Jaune. This post is getting too long, but he’s a healer! He’s the would-be shounen protagonist who instead finds strength in supporting others, and he’s a great masculine answer to Ruby, who is spiritually at the forefront of the show. Both he and Cinder are sort of in genderswapped positions; that is, the Dragon, the naughty villain with a bad history, is often male, and the healer, sweet and soft with a big heart, is female. I LOVE that it’s reversed so much!!!!!!
I also think that in terms of Jaune’s evolution of his character, Cinder poses a real challenge. Also, once he killed Penny I knew I was a goner. But also, for Cinder, he is a complete roadblock in the way. There’s her and the Maiden powers and then nothing else. So why him? Why him at all? Softness, kindness, when she had been left behind every other time, with Madame, with Salem. Who would want her, for her, only her?
Once you go down that road, though, and one begins to unpack the ship... well, there was no going back for me after that. There was too much. You can see in the post there summarising some of it.
It just has too much I love in a ship... it’s seriously my OTP, my OTP of all time, my OTP to end all other OTPs.
So, to summarise that: V7 confirmed caring about Cinder was not misplaced, and then V8 even further, which made me consider the show in a personal way, like, ‘oh this is about the stuff I really secretly care about but keep to myself because there are so many people online who hate villains’, and then I was like, wait, Jaune is so good but now I could ship him with somebody!???!!?! and the Aura is water-themed and she’s fire-themed, and what else?? He challenges her? He asks her why she is the way she is? He wants to know the answer????
And rewatching V5 put things into perspective for me. Then V8 happened and it was beyond my wildest dreams.
So that’s my journey for you. It was a lot of fun to type this out. It’s sort of part-manifesto, part narrating my gradual descent into madness.

RWBY V8 CH12 Initial Thoughts:
Yes yes I'm late watching the new episode don't look at me. Also @tumblezwei thank you thank you for showing me how to put the read more bit on posts, I can finally put it to good use.
Figured I might as well do a reaction/initial thoughts to this episode since I haven't done that in a while, so here goes:
- Man Ironwood is just. Super overcompensating with his Gun-gun.
"You've done the right thing."
"I have. Feels weird"
-I'M SORRY THAT WAS THE BEST LINE OF THE EPISODE HANDS DOWN. Just. The sass. The growth. Kicking Ironwood in the face while cuffed (does she have experience doing that? Fighting while arrested? It kinda looked similar to Mercury's fighting style too.) EMERALD I LOVE YOU.
- Ngl I feel extremely satisfied that we can finally FINALLY put the "Winter is Totally Going To Be A Villain" theory to bed after this episode. Not that I didn't used to see the appeal of it myself, but v8 made it increasingly clear that wasn't where her arc was headed. Also Schneebling reunion on the horizon? Pretty please???
- *Sees Oscar riding on the Chimera summon with Winter*
*Remembers Oscar riding with Yang on the hoverbike in episode 2*
My Snowpines/Rosegarden shipping ass: Gee Oscar, how come you get TWO big sister-in-laws?
- Small thing but it's always nice to see team ALPN fighting together. I know a few Oscar fans were freaking out about Penny potentially replacing Oscar as their teammate, but like I thought that wasn't really something to worry about. *gently bonks Oscar fanbase* Sillies.
- I'm a little suprised given how Ironwood is the Big Bad of the Atlas arc how quickly he went down, without much dramatic flair or further esculation, but I am so glad Winter got that last awesome shot on him. (and that Oscar managed to get a few jabs in too) And like. He's still alive in jail. So who the hell knows what we're gonna do with him now. Take him to Vacuo along with Jaques apparently. I'm sure that'll go greeeeaaat.
- Ambrosius... after a quick google search the name apparently means "Divine" or "Immortal" in Greek. Hm. Unlike Jinn, not a specific reference to a mythical being, at least not in name, but I'm sure people are already theorizing on that front better than I could. Similar blue/gold design too. So maybe they're all Djinns in a sense, since they grant your desires, but split into four focusing on a specific kind of desire? That works. Anyways, super fun character and I hope they make more use of him. Like, because I wanna see more of his personality and also Oh my Gosh the Things You Can Do With His Powers are Basically Limitless as long as you're smart about it (hint hint get the CCT active around Remnant but Better)
- And gosh were our girls smart. Weiss working with Whitley to get the schematics and coordinates for the exact points of evacuation that they had originally planned out for their ships to create portals to the Vault/Central Zone (?) to Vacuo, Ruby puting in careful thought and wording about creating a copy of Penny with the existing robot parts from her to let the girl who was always there underneath remain and leaving the copy with the virus to self destruct, with Penny's designs for reference, they absolutely did their homework. Of course there was the risk of if Penny could exist without that physical form, but of course they all believed in her.
- Self destructing Not!Penny crawling towards the real Penny is super creepy and hopefully something she doesn't have nightmares about
- Of course the first thing Penny does when she realises she's a Real Girl is hug everyone so she can experience the joy of Real Normal Warm Hugs.
"Are hugs always this warm?"
"Yes, Penny"
"Woooow"
-MY HEART. No actually back up, back up, the Nuts and Dolts shipper in me is singing rn, because all the times Penny has been hugged by Ruby this volume and only now is she actually able to actually feel that hug. Like, the sentiment and emotional support of it was always there and obviously appreciated by her before, but like. Now she can FEEL it.
- I'm super happy for Penny and seeing her back to her cheerful adorable self is Delightful, but at the same time I'm now really worried for her too. She doesn't have to worry about the virus anymore, now she's a regular meat person, but here's the thing. She's a regular meat person. No more rocket boots. No more lasers. No more in built swords attached to her body with strings. No more resistance to harsher elements. No more night vision. Obviously she's still the Winter Maiden, so she's still a force to be reckoned with, and she has RWBY with her, but she's still a rookie maiden that is massively vulnerable right now. She's vulnerable in her new human form to anyone coming after her. And like. Things just feel like they're going too smoothly...
- Speaking of, hello hello my ominous darling Cinder. Just like last volume, when things seem to be going too smoothly, there you are. So Watts cut off Jaune's broadcast and all other communications in the kingdom, and I'm guessing Cinder's jumping in those portal spaces with Neo to come after Ruby and Penny? That along with the "Do Not Fall" warning seems... yeah something's gonna go terribly wrong by the end of this volume. Salem, Ironwood, Mantle, Penny... All these loose ends are just being dealt with so quickly and neatly for me to be fully comfortable.
- tfw you've read Before the Dawn and know that Vacuo was already struggling with refugees coming in since Atlas had closed its borders, Vale was overrun with Grimm, and Mistral had its defences spread thin already being the widest reaching kingdom, along with Leo, Hazel and Tyrian denting it even further in offing all the huntsman and huntresses, and Vacuo's people are already pretty stingy with outsiders, and if there are thousands coming from the kingdom that closed it's borders and ordered an dust embargo... oh boi the Vacuo arc is gonna be a doozy.
- I know it's probably too close to Atlas and therefore Salem, and we need a convenient way to segue into the Vacuo arc, but couldn't Argus have been an option for the portal evacuation? At least, as well as Vacuo?
- OH FUCK YEAH I FORGOT THEY MENTIONED THE WRITERS SAID V9 WAS GONNA BE A DETOUR AND WASN'T JUST GOING TO BE JUMPING STRAIGHT TO VACUO. So like. Are they gonna get lost in a void of time and space? Are they going to jump through time by accident? Or just in space? Both? If you fall do you just end up randomly in the middle of the desert, far from Vacuo? And v9 is just going to be RWBY trekking through the desert? Similar to v6 after the train crash? So many questions.
-Hmm. Torn between Cinder going after Penny/Ruby with Neo in the vault space, or potentially being confronted by ALPN+Emerald... JNR+Emerald seems more narratively fitting, but Neo seems deadset on her and Cinder killing to Ruby...
- I wonder if Qrow is gonna confront Ironwood while he's in jail... Role reversal of the start of the volume. Or maybe he's just going to consider it worth his time.
-Taking all the established Atlas characters right with us into the Vacuo arc seems like it's going to be... A Lot. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if team RWBY really did end up jumping in time in V9 to fast forward on the two city populations integrating with one another, like maybe by a few months? Idk I'm just spitballing. Initial thoughts and all.
- Last point but the hooded cowl is such a great look on Cinder. Love it.

SALEM - Ch. 12
SAVED WORK
Summary: In all the centuries of your existence, you had never been dragged out of hiding by another god, put in a superhero team and forced to save the universe. But it seems your luck has run out.
_____________
***
8 Days Left
Your letter was currently in a glass box with metal plating on Tony’s desk and he was running every code imaginable to break whatever lock you had on it. He heavily suspected it was some sort of magic. Something not yet explained by science. If magic were explainable by Earth’s scientific laws, well. Then it’d just be science.
But whatever this was. It wasn’t something he’d seen before. Something humans haven’t quite figured out yet. But hey, he’s solved a lot by just trying so, what the hell. Why not.
Unfortunately, trying didn’t seem to be working this time, and the box had sparks flying out of it before he even finished the last line of code.
“Shit.” He slumped back in his seat and Bruce sighed from across the lab.
“Tony, maybe you should just give up on that. We might still have to fight Ker, you know.” Tony nodded. He was right, of course. Wherever you were, he still had to prepare like there was a battle coming.
“Give me one more try.” He said, brushing his fingers under his nose.
He picked up a screwdriver and tightened some of the metal plates on the outside of the glass. It was more of a thrown together device. But he didn’t know how long he had to build something. If you thought it would take more than two weeks, you probably would’ve given yourself more time.
After what turned out to be three more tries, he heard stumbling outside his lab’s door. Bruce looked up from where he was working on the other side of Tony’s lab.
From the other side of the room, he heard “Uh, Mr. Stark? Can someone open the door?” Then some sort of metal hit the ground before the door slid open on its own. Peter smiled, “Oh. Thanks, Friday.”
She responded with a “No problem, Peter.” Before Peter took a few steps in, placing the box he was carrying on a nearby table. He went back to pick up a small piece of metal on the floor and Tony went to examine the box.
“What are you doing here, kid? It’s gotta be 2 am, at least.”
“Actually it’s 4 am,” Peter said.
“Well, that’s worse.” He picked up a few spare wires from the box and set them down on the table below.
“Mr. Stark, I was thinking.”
“Always a good thing to do, I suppose,” Tony said, offhand.
“About Y/n.” Peter continued. He took a pause, waiting for Tony’s reaction. The only thing he got was a sigh. Part of Tony wanted to (hypocritically) lecture him about getting some sleep, tell him that Y/n was going to be fine and he and Bruce could handle it. But the other part of Tony knew Peter was an inventor. A young one, but a smart one.
So, after about a minute, he responded, “Okay. Shoot.”
Peter smiled, whispering out a small “Yes!” And Tony smirked a bit.
“Okay, I made a sort of tracker. Kind of. It tracks energy signatures, and I figured we could use some sort of trace of Y/n’s abilities, and track it.”
Tony glanced back at the letter. You had clearly used whatever abilities you had on it. (He was never really keen on calling it “magic”, even though that’s exactly what it was.)
Bruce butted into their conversation, “That might work, but if she’s too far I don’t think we could find her with that. I mean, that’s like looking for a needle in a haystack.”
Tony nodded.
“Maybe we just need to use a magnet,” Peter suggested, with a small, very tired smile.
“And you think you made a magnet?” Tony asked, watching Peter’s nod. He recognized the boy’s attitude. It was one he copied himself whenever he stayed up far too late.
Was this what everyone else saw when he was exhausted? He would’ve made some promise to get more sleep (if he thought he’d ever keep it).
“It tracks energy signals and amplifies them. It’ll find her, as soon as she uses her abilities it’ll amplify the signal and track her, simple.”
“Across the universe?” Bruce walked close to the pair, trying his best to chose his words carefully. “She’s a powerful person, I’m not doubting that. But I don’t think you can track just her across the universe.”
Peter’s smile dropped a bit. As much as Tony wanted to agree with Peter, Bruce had a point.
Peter took a second stumbling over his words as he glanced at the boxed letter on Tony’s desk. “Maybe her and Loki? I’m sure we have something of Loki’s around.” Tony and Bruce glanced at each other. Bruce sort of shrugged, unsure of the answer.
Tony wanted to say no. The answer was probably no. If he couldn’t track Loki last year, why would he be able to now? And tracking you would barely give him any info. He needed to be able to trace an energy signal strong enough that it would show up on radar. Preferably one he already had information on.
Despite all of that, he found himself saying “worth a shot” before he could think it through. He picked up Peter’s makeshift machine. “We’ll have to make a few updates, obviously. But-uh. Not bad. Now go to bed, or I’m taking that suit.” He mumbled, to which Peter nodded, leaving behind the box and a sketch of his design.
It took Tony a few hours to improve Peter’s design. The small, box-sized device was much bigger and had what looked like a satellite dish attached to it. Tony had hooked some of the spare wires up to the glass and metal box containing your letter. Another set of wires was connected to a computer system, tracking your location. He had added one of Loki’s knives that Thor may or may not have stolen from Loki’s room. Something that Loki wouldn’t be happy about later.
He was typing out Peter’s program. He wouldn’t say anything, but Peter was a smart kid.
“You know, Y/n. I think you’d be proud of this one. Well, I’d probably have to explain how tracking works and how this computer functions, but uh. Still.” He said, more to himself than anything else.
He wasn’t sure of the time, but he thought it had to be maybe 8 am? It couldn’t have taken him that long, and he’d probably have to get breakfast with the team soon. He wasn’t excited for Steve’s remarks about how he should get sleep, or stop worrying so much, so he’d decided to get coffee and get out. Once he tried turning the tracker on.
With a few more minutes, Peter’s tracker was up and running. It had taken a sort of scan of the energy you and Loki’s items were giving off and started tracking it… where ever you were.
“Shit. This isn’t working.” Tony whispered under his breath. Not that there was anyone but Friday who could hear him at this point. Bruce finally went to sleep, and he was left in the room alone.
“Friday.” He took a seat and rubbed his hands over his face.
“Yes, Boss. Everything alright?”
Tony shook his head and pick up a screwdriver to fiddle with. “This isn’t a strong enough signal, is there any way to get a better reading?”
“Sorry Boss, there isn’t enough information to do more than tell you which way you should be looking.”
“At least that’s something.”
“It’s a start.”
“Yeah. A start isn’t really what I need right now.”
Tony set down the screwdriver and looked back at his computer.
“Hi, Mr. Stark.” He heard from the doorway. Peter walked in, not looking much different than a few hours ago.
“Kid. Thought I said to get some sleep. It’s been four hours.”
“Uh, I’m pretty sure it’s at least 11,” Peter said, looking confused a bit.
“He’s right Boss. It’s 11:32.” He heard from inside the room.
“Who’s side are you on?” He fired back at the AI who didn’t respond this time.
“How’s the tracker working?” Peter looked fairly anxious and he joined Tony at his desk. He settled at Tony’s left side, examining the computer tony had attached to his machine.
“Well, it’s not bad, kid, but we kind of need a stronger signal. These items aren’t exactly great examples of their abilities, and this is a pretty big universe. I have a general direction, that’s it.”
“What about Ker?” Peter asked as if it were obvious.
“What?”
“It tracks energy signatures.” Tony nodded along, waiting for Peter to continue. “ I mean if you need a stronger one Ker spent like two weeks shaking all of Alaska.”
Tony pulled up Ker’s small file they had created anyway. It contained everything about her, including all records of her first few weeks on Earth. That contained every reading he had of her, so he selected her last one. One strong enough to call the Avengers to look into it. He added it to signals to look for and the computer started recalculating.
“Awesome!” Peter got closer to it, observing how it worked with his machine. “It works.” Tony set his hand on Peter’s shoulder. He didn’t say anything, but then again, he didn’t need to.
Soon, the computer came up with a location. It certainly wasn’t exact. Couldn’t tell which planet it was from either, but it gave him a much more concentrated idea. Sure, it was probably two or three solar systems worth, but he could do a better job tracking you down with that information.
That is until the computer’s screen went red.
“Sorry, Boss,” Friday said, “Ker’s signal just went dark.”
“What? No, how did that happen? We didn’t touch anything. Nothing’s wrong.”
“It’s a problem from their side, the signal attached to Ker isn’t operating anymore.”
“Is she hurt or something?” Peter asked.
“Well, I haven’t exactly called her recently,” Tony said, trying to fix the issue.
“Boss, I don’t think you can repair this without Ker’s signal,” Friday said, speaking a bit slower than usual.
“Shit,” Peter whispered. Tony sent him a small glare but didn’t say anything else.
“What now, Mr. Stark?” Tony stared at the computer, dragging his hands over his face again.
“Just hope Capsicle’s doing better than we are.”
***
The rest of the team was trying to brainstorm. Mostly about where you were, but “What is Loki up to?” was a good question as well. Steve had gathered them in their common area instead of the meeting area. He figured the team could use a slight change of pace.
Natasha was looking over pictures of Ker’s graffiti.
“For the most part, she only says ‘Doom is rising’ but look, there’s another phrase in a few of these.” She pointed to a small string of words in the corner of one of the pictures.
Rhodey looked over from his sitting position.”’We follow Doom?’” He read aloud.
Natasha nodded. “But ‘doom’ is capitalized.” She paused for a second, looking over the room to make sure everyone understood what she was suggesting. “What if she’s being literal? She’s literally talking about doom.”
Rhodey seemed a bit confused. “Like the god of doom?”
She nodded.
Thor stood up from his seat, “Moros. He’s the god of doom. Ker and Y/n’s brother.” The team exchanged glances with each other.
“Okay, so how do we use that to our advantage?” Clint asked frustratedly. There was no way to prove that idea yet, and without any other information that was basically useless. “Y/n’s the only one who knows these people unless you can tell us more than that.” He gestured to Thor, hoping the god had more to say.
Unfortunately, Thor only shook his head slightly, “Nothing you can’t find out for yourselves. There isn’t much written about him, and she’s never gone into detail about any of her siblings.”
So, the team might know who you’re fighting, have a general idea of where you are and have a reasonable guess of what you’re doing. That’s nothing. Nothing Steve can use, at least. Having a ‘general idea’ doesn’t help mathematical equations. He looked over to Bruce, hoping he had any ideas.
“Tony’s been working on something. It’s a kind of tracker, it’ll be able to give us a good idea of where she is.”
As Bruce was finishing speaking, Tony walked into the room and took a seat next to Natasha.
Steve nodded toward Tony as a greeting before speaking. “Bruce was saying you made a tracker?”
“Yeah, I made a tracker.” Tony raised a cup of coffee to his lips, his sip was small and somewhat slow. Steve would’ve been a lot happier if he couldn’t sense Tony’s sarcastic tone. “I got a location using Loki, Y/n, and Ker. Then Ker’s signal went dark and I lost it.”
Steve couldn’t say he was excited, but he’d have to figure something else out.
“It’s okay. We’ll find something else.”
“Will we?” Tony said, “We have no idea where she is. She left us with a letter we can’t read and basically no information. What am I supposed to do with that? All this tech and I can’t even build something to find her.”
Tony’s voice was just as sarcastic as usual, but just about everyone could hear he was serious. In a strange, Tony Stark way.
The echo of Thunder was heard outside of the windows, a sort of low rumble that managed to break the silence that had slipped into the room.
“Hey, Point Break, you minding losing the dramatics?” Tony snapped.
Thor stared at him, a mixture of confusing and a slight hit of offense was it?
“That was not me, Stark.”
The rumble continued, lasting longer than thunder usually would.
“You sure?” Tony asked again, this time with actual curiosity.
Friday’s voice interrupted Thor’s response.
“Um, Boss. It seems there’s Quinjet prototype 2-D heading for just outside the compound. The one Y/n and Loki took.”
Tony immediately stood up and look out the window and up to the best of his ability. He didn’t see much more than a smoking shadow headed downward.
“C’mon.” He signaled to the team, who all went to suit up, prepared to deal with the worst if need be.
They arrived outside quickly. The ship had crashed into the ground as they were all walking out. As Tony approached, helmet down, the door to the ship opened and he heard shuffling.
Loki stepped out, clutching his side. He managed to walk towards the team. There was blood on his tunic. A dried, dark color. Tony hoped it was his.
Thor went up to his brother, wrapping his arm around him to support him. Loki kept his hand pressed tight to his side, making a fighting effort to stand as straight as he could.
Tony waited for you to walk out. But you never did. You never walked out with a triumphant smile or even a frustrated huff. You didn’t ask if he had ‘anything better to do’ than wait around for you. So he didn’t get to answer ‘no, I spent the whole day worrying’. He didn’t hear your small sarcastic laugh. A sign that whatever happened on your mission, you were okay. In fact, he didn’t hear you at all.
“Where is she?” He asked Loki loudly. Loki didn’t need to ask who he meant. He knew automatically.
“Dead.” The god coldly responded.

Soku, if you’re not gonna pay attention, I’ll just call you out.
One thing I really don’t like about ozpin being in rwby is that Ozpin being a mystical old being the characters can literally ask him about anything ever!
Ignoring how Ozpin is just a reincarnating human and thus has limited knowledge.
Are there powerful treasures that could be used to aid the hero’s
Why would there be?
what do the relics do?,
How would Ozpin know this?
What salem’s weaknesses are, fears, anything about her that could turn the tide.
If he knew that and it was readily accessible, why is Salem STILL around?
What is semblance?
What is dust?
What are grimm?
1. Expression of one’s soul through Aura
2.. Elemental gunpowder
And 3. creatures made by the dark brother to destroy everything.
All stuff said in the show. You have no excuse not remembering this.
There’s so many questions ozpin can answer and miles and kerry realize this, so instead of the characters asking question and getting them deflected by him, they just don’t ask the questions.
No, your questions are just purposefully stupid and I can guarantee you would never ask this of any other show.
Like Ozpin’s sitting in the living room and ruby doesn’t want to ask what silver eyes are?
“I wanna be a normal girl with normal knees!”
- Ruby Rose, Episode 1
If Ruby was written like a character who’s supposed to be a girl living in remnant she would obviously ask these questions, as would our entire crew!
Maybe if they made them all pedantic assholes like you. Also half your question ARE ALREADY ANSWERED.
Do you seriously think bookworms like weiss, blake and ruby wouldn’t want to know more about the workings of the world, magic fucking ozpin himself?
A. They already know the workings of the world.
B. magic by definition defies explanation.
And C. Ozpin has already stated what he is.
Not to mention if your argument is he’s suppose to be mysterious like miles and kerry wrote, can he really afford to be tight lipped?
Because it’s not like other mysterious characters are tight lipped *cough* Dumbledore *cough* Lord Death *cough*
All we learned is they want to change the world and to be fair remnant is a shitty world where aggressive racist humans and monsters that eat people if they’re a little sad live.
A. That’s racist Soku.Or can people make blanket statements about any race like, say, all black people are savages and NOT be racist?
B. Yeah and we live in a world were you get away with being an amoral shitstain because ‘uwu racism’ and with a race that never learns it’s less while doing more damage to ourselves than anything else. Does that mean I get to cause a nuclear apocolaypse? No you idiot.
Which is why I don’t like that he’s around, cause he’s basically a gary use and an mcguffin.
The guy whose win record is 0-2 and provides no intrinsic value to the plot aside from knowledge is a gary stu and a macguffin, despite his character being TEH EXACT OPPOSITE of that?
Also: you misspelled ‘sue’, misused ‘sue’ and misspelled ‘macguffin’. By your own rules, you lose all credibility.
Mystical old beings only work in chosen one stories if they stay in one location…forever far away.
So when’s the post about Lord Death from  Soul Eater being a shitty character? After all, unlike Ozpin, Lord Death ACTUALLY has all the info on him AND is a mystic old being (far older AND more powerful than Ozpin) AND he’s constantly around, in close contact with the protagonists and has a DIRECT connection to the main antagonist. So surely, you must think he’s a shitty character since he fits all the bitching you launch at Ozpin but BETTER.
I feel ozpin could of worked better if instead of adding another useless male lead when you have four girls you need to work on you had him possess crescent rose or one of those figure eight balls that you shake for a fortune.
Objects can’t have souls dumbass.
Also: that’s sexist.
Hell those actually give good advice. Joking aside ; him possessing an animal or an object fixes numerous problems in the show.
Like what?
... Nothing? Figures.
Like the audience wondering why don’t they just ask the questions and forces them to take agency on their own goals and direction.
Because nothing they can ask will do them any good due to what they already know as well as basic logic?
Also:
*opens a copy of Soul Eater*
Wanna bet if I read this, you’ll be shitting yourself at the idea of me treating your precious soul eater like you treat RWBY? Except unlike you, I can actually do a good job?
