The thing that I love so much about the Paris scene is Adam’s reaction to being there.
“Where did you take us?”
“Paris.”
“Oh I love Paris! What would you like to see first? Notre Dame? The Champs Élysées? No? Too… touristy?”
It’s so simple and clearly meant to be humorous but just think about that. Think about what he just got finished explaining before they left: this magical atlas was another curse from the enchantress. “The outside world has no place for a creature like me.”
Adam recognizes that he cannot actually use this tool as a means of escape — the enchantress is mocking him. He knows that if he were to go anywhere, looking the way he does, he would be attacked, and probably killed. And his suspicions for how the public would treat him are later confirmed by Gaston’s mob.
But back to the point: he knows he’s not meant to go out in public. And yet, AND YET!! What’s the first thing he says, when Belle tells him they’re in Paris?
“What would you like to see first?”
He has spent so much time toiling with his appearance, wrestling with and then embracing the fact that he’s some hideous monster that would be killed on-sight, and yet with Belle… all of that seems to go away.
He’s not still bitter. He’s not grumbling about how he loved Paris, how he wishes they could go look around. No, he loves Paris, he wants to be a tourist with this girl. It’s as though all his fears about what people will do or say when they see him have completely vanished. He’s not a beast anymore, not really. His heart has changed, he’s more himself than he has been since he was a boy.
He feels human again, with her.
It’s just so absolutely beautiful. He’s almost there, you know? You can so tangibly see how much he has come out of his shell, how much he has shed this mask, this big wall that he’s built up to protect himself from ever getting hurt again. Slow but sure, he’s becoming human again. His human heart was always there inside him, and it’s starting to shine through!! He’s nearly there, he’s nearly back to being exactly who he was born to be.

Propaganda
Jeremy Brett (My Fair Lady)—"...he was beautiful. A strange adjective to use in describing a man. I use it not to suggest effeminacy or a kind of male prettiness, but in the same way I would use it to describe a throughbred stallion, Michelangelo's David or Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. There was with Jeremy Huggins [Brett's non- stage name] a perfection and sublime symmetry in his features that was beautiful." [quote from "Bending the Willow" by David Stuart Davies]
Gene Kelly (Singin’ in the Rain, An American in Paris, The Pirate)—It’s hard to know where to start with Gene Kelly because he did so, so much, of such a high quality, from the ballet scenes in “An American in Paris” to the classy suave movie star act of “Singin’ in the Rain” to the incredibly camp, sexy “The Pirate”. He just never stopped finding cool ways to do things and he’s just brilliant to watch, especially when he’s dancing, but even when he’s doing drama or being silly! He’s one of those guys who could genuinely do it all and just radiates charisma through the screen, literally an #icon in every sense of the word.
This is round 4 of the bracket. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage man.

BTS of #RWRBMovie: 'z' in your last name
TZP via HOLA:
Clifton Collins Jr., who plays my father in the film, was amazing. I knew of him. I’d seen his projects, but we’d never crossed paths before. And then we met and we just got along, thick as thieves. And he’s like an OG Mexican from Los Angeles which was so colorful. He made it feel like there was family on set. Same with Matthew being Puerto Rican. Their influences help you get into that vibe, and then you do the scene and it’s wonderful. You really bring that accuracy to it.
There’s a line in the film when Alex and Henry are in Paris, and Henry asks him a question about his mom’s campaign, and Alex starts telling him about his father and his abuela coming to the States. The line is something like “If you’re an immigrant in America and you have a ‘Z’ in your last name, there’s a lot of people in positions of power that don’t look and sound like you. I’ve been given the opportunity to be someone in the world that my father didn’t see when he was growing up.” As someone with two ‘Zs’ in his last name (laughs), that was a tough scene for me because I had to be there as Alex and not as Taylor. It was very emotional to think of my family and what they went through to come to the United States. Even though they came here a long time ago, you still think about all of the people that are coming to America today and about all of their stories. Alex realizes that his father didn’t have any role models growing up and now he’s a congressman. That fuels his fire to be the change. That was so exciting for me.
From NYT:
For both Zakhar Perez and the director, the character Alex’s biracial identity was particularly meaningful. López grew up in Panama City, Fla., with his Puerto Rican father and Polish Russian mother, while Zakhar Perez is of Mexican, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean descent and was raised in northwest Indiana, where he said there was only one other Mexican family. “Matthew and I talked a lot about the mestizo journey,” Zakhar Perez said in a video call before SAG-AFTRA, the actor’s union, went on strike. “Being part Mexican, part lots of other things, I don’t want to say you’re forgotten, but in today’s world, it’s like, you’re either this or you’re that. There’s nothing in between. I’m kind of a cultural chameleon.” “As a young Latiné queer man, I never read something that centered someone like Alex,” López said, echoing his star. “If I had been presented with this character when I was in my late teens, early 20s, it may have changed how I thought about myself.”
From Windy City Times:
Was the part about having a Z in your last name personal or the book? ML: It was personal. That was about me and Taylor. It came from a conversation that Taylor and I had when making the film.
From Metro Weekly:
Alex has a line about grow ing up in Texas as a kid with a last name that ends with Z, which is I guess something else you can relate to, Florida style. ML: And Taylor Zakhar Perez also. Taylor and I talked about that scene a lot as being something that we both understood. My aunt Priscilla Lopez is a beloved, beloved stage actor. She was in the original cast of A Chorus Line. And there's a story that she tells about Mandy Gonzalez, who was in In the Heights with her, and Mandy once told Priscilla that Priscilla made it okay for her to be someone with a Z in her last name. And that was a thing that Taylor and I spent a lot of time discussing as well. It was important to me that that scene be in the movie. There was never a chance in hell that that scene was ever getting cut.
From Teen Vogue:
TV: One of my favorite parts is when they’re in Paris, and Alex talks about being a young person of color coming up from Texas and not seeing anybody who looked like himself or his dad in politics, and Henry’s response to that simply being: “I’m learning.” I don’t know if you were in the theater for that one, but half the crowd was like, awwwww. ML: Yeah, I was for that. TV: I’m married to a white man, and I was like, that is the perfect thing a white man can say in that situation. ML: I’m married to a white man, too. Speaking as someone who is a person of color married to a white man: that’s like the ultimate thing you ever want your white boyfriend or husband or partner to say. That’s it. “I’m learning.”
ML via THR:
There’s a scene in the movie that is very much me, which I gave Taylor after they’ve had sex for the first time. They’re there in pillow talk mode, and he tells Henry about what it’s like to be the son of an immigrant with a Z in your last name. It was really important to me to talk about growing up with a Z in your last name and even just how our names are pronounced, the spellings of our names sometimes if you have Latin ancestry. To have to answer for your name has always been something for me that I struggled with until I stopped struggling with it. So, I needed to put that into Alex’s story and when it came time to shoot that scene again, it was something I didn’t have to explain to Taylor Zakhar Perez. He got it instantly. The only thing that I did screw him up with is like, “We’re going to do this [scene] as a oner, and we’re going to do it as a top shot that starts in a wide shot and comes all the way down to your face, and we’re not going to leave this scene until you get it right in one.”

Chat Noir as the Ultimate Catgirl (Genderneutral)!
Tumblr media
If you are as invested in the cat girl drama on tumblr dot com as I am, I am sure you are familiar with @catgirlgames ultimate catgirl tournament. As a Chat Noir truther, I wanted to put in my two cents as to why you all should vote for Chat in the finals of this tournament (against Hello Kitty of all catgirls).
My first series of points are all to do with how cat-like this fruity boy inherently is and chooses to be when in his black spandex.
1- The Purring
Tumblr media
Yes, he legitimately did not realize he began to purr in this scene- his cat magic grants him the charming and not at all awkward ability to involuntarily purr
2- The Scritches
Tumblr media
This boy not only enjoys chin scratches but openly seeks them out... one step further toward him being a domestic housecat tamed by one particular spotted bug
3- The Ears
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A slightly unsettling but utterly damning fact about how committed he is to the cat bit is that his cute kitty kitty meow meow ears take the place of his human ears when he is transformed. They move on their own and lead directly to his ear canal... Yeah, I try not to dwell on this one too much.
4- The Behavior
Tumblr media
It's the butt wiggle and pounce for me. (Although technically he was under the influence of an Akuma here, I can't dispute this piece of evidence to further damn him for being a dramatic cat boy)
5- Another Cliche
Tumblr media
Another great staple for his undeniably cat-related tropes- him being a scaredy cat. (Once again due to an Akuma, but I just love that this piece of animation exists for me to ponder where the line between catboy and boy cat lies exactly)
Other Reasons To Love This Iconic Black Cat
If you're still not convinced that he is the greatest and most iconic cat girl (genderneutral) hear me out-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He (alongside his beetle counterpart) has elemental-themed transformation upgrades that are sick as fuck.
Tumblr media
Cmon, look at Astrochat!! Hello!!!!
Tumblr media
He is a beloved hero but also Paris's most fearsome enemy in another timeline- one of the most swag Akuma designs and chilling dichotomies to the friendly, pun-loving cat we know and love.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk! Don't forget to vote Chat!
Tumblr media
Bonus- here he is being cat and doing crime.

Some Julius Caesar x The Danton Case Parallels to Celebrate the Ides of March, Frev Style 🔪🥳
Firstly, both Przybyszewska’s Danton Case and Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar are obviously (excellent!) tragedies that are set in a dying republic on the brink of collapse.
Here are some other interesting parallels I was able to trace:
1. Brutus and Robespierre:
Both of them are driven to execute an important figure even though they initially do not want to do it. They are both conflicted but feel like they have no other choice and have to commit the violent act for the good of the republic.
They are also arguably quite alike in terms of character: you have the „noble Brutus“ and then Robespierre, who is consistently referred to as „the Incorruptible“. Both are seen by others as selfless and committed to the good of the state (the people in the crowd very much emphasise this fact in both of the plays, I do have the receipts)
There is even the scene in which Brutus chastises Cassius for taking bribes, which plays into the idea of him as being (literally) “incorruptible” as well. And vice versa, traces of Brutus’ famed stoicism can then certainly be found in Maximilien.
2. Cassius and Saint-Just:
Both are characters who convince the protagonists (Brutus/Robespierre) to go along the violent act while not necessarily being portrayed as antagonists (at least Saint-Just definitely can't be seen as one in Przybyszewska’s play).
There are also parallels in the close relationship between Brutus and Cassius and Robespierre and Saint-Just, where they are very much portrayed as each other’s closest confidants. Of course, this idea can easily be pushed even further if one wishes to read between the lines. (There is no Camille Desmoulins in Shakespeare though)
3. Manipulating the Crowd:
I'm perhaps the most fascinated by how both Brutus and Mark Antony as well as Robespierre and Danton have the necessary rhetorical skills to manipulate the crowd of commoners (Robespierre being able to “play the crowd like an organ” very much came to my mind when I was reading Act 3 Scene 2 of the Shakespeare’s play).
Both Shakespeare and Przybyszewska portray “the court of public opinion” and how it can easily be manipulated - how opinions can be changed in the matter of minutes - in a way that is genuinely fascinating.
Specifically, the similarity between A3S2 in which people first listen to Brutus only to be immediately swayed by Mark Antony’s speech shortly after and the scene in the court in which Danton manipulates the crowd were in fact so similar in some respects that it was borderline uncanny.
The problem arises when looking for a mirror to Danton’s character in Shakespeare’s play.
4. The Case for Danton x Caesar:
It is Caesar who gets killed for being perceived as a danger to the republic
Both Caesar and Danton are portrayed as being very much beloved by the common people
Also, the idea of Danton being immortal is expressed at the end of Przybyszewka’s play, and while he does not come back literally as a ghost like Ceasar does, Robespierre nonetheless explains to Saint-Just that Danton’s spirit never truly dies.
5. The Case for Danton x Mark Antony:
If we see Danton and Robespierre as foils, Mark Antony makes more sense as a parallel to Danton (even though he does not die), since both Robespierre and Brutus as the classic ascetic/stoic archetype while Danton and Mark Antony’s are well-known for their appetite for drinking, women (or, you know, people, in the case of Mark Antony) , and the pleasures of life overall.
Both are also severely underestimated by their enemies at first, yet they prove to be quite cunning and are able to use their words skilfully to win over the public
Overall, reading both of the plays – especially the parts about manipulating the Roman public and the citizens of Paris just with the power of words – really makes me wonder if Przybyszewska read Shakespeare’s play and used it as a source of inspiration. It would make sense, especially given how the parallel between the French Republic and the Roman Republic was well-established long before her time (even, somewhat tragically, by the revolutionaries themselves).
I promise I think about Przybyszewska's and Shakespeare’s play and the Roman Republic along with the French Revolution a totally normal amount of time & that it definitely does not consume my every waking thought that should be very much going towards the exam preparation.

Jottings: Season 7, Episode 2. Nothing compares to them
A tiny, but welcome disclaimer: I have not read all the OL books yet, so do not expect witty repartees and connecting the dots with the current book follow-up by the series. In fact, I am still struggling right now with Voyager, after I gave a resolute middle finger and an excruciating amount of time to Dragonfly in Amber, which bored me to death with its sketchy depiction of eighteenth-century Paris. Unpopular opinion, I know: I can't help it, since I consider Paris, for many personal reasons, as my second, beloved home.
There go my two cents, with little to no spoilers. There is much to savor in there:
I thought I couldn't bear to watch one more single time Sinéad O'Connor's rendition of ye olde Skye Boat Song. I was wrong. I think it is exactly what this season needs: a bit bruised & battered & breathless. The perfect tinge of rough around the edges. This is no walk in the park and hers is the right cue, setting the tone for all the rest.
Vlachos. Excellent. Loved every second of it.
I suppose everybody will talk about the Look Jamie gave Claire right after Insufferable Bree gives birth to wee Mandy. I cackled all by myself, which is not even surprising. And so will you, Shippers United. Mark me.
SS upgraded a bit her game, to the extent she doesn't sound all the time like reciting United Airlines' flight schedule. She and Rankin finally manage to pull off a decent rapport (chemistry will always be at a deep-frozen 0). So, rejoice: at least they don't look like the mean troop leader forced them to share the same tent at Camp Sunrise. It's all fine and dandy, until she relaxes and slips back into that horrific, East Coast wannabe accent. Sorry, not sorry.
Did Lizzie say ”Fraser's Fridge”, when reading the birth announcement, or am I hearing things again? Now that's an earworm, sheesh...
Vandervaart looks promising enough, but what do I know, after a two-minutes scene with SS? Court is adjourned.
LJG & JAMMF, what a powerful, ambiguous, elegant scene. Tension is mounting, and this is when you crack open the Netflix & Chill'd ice cream bucket. It will come in handy, trust me.
The fireflies' scene was the death of me. There is something extraordinary about S's superb ability to speak volumes without uttering a single word. There is so much love and such despair to capture Bree's face, Bree's voice, Bree's alien joy when she mentions damn Mickey Mouse, and keep them forever. Did I ugly cry? I let out a sincere Fuuuuuck and couldn't help it. This is when the box of tissues came in handy, and you know, damn the consequences.
Dear (?) Diana Gabaldon: GET THAT WONDERFUL MAN THROUGH THE STONES, WHERE THERE'S PENICILLIN AND A HOT BATH AND A HIGHER AVERAGE LIFE EXPECTANCY, STAT.
Yeah, sure. She missed that point five seasons ago, why do I even bother?
Spoiler: "What was it like.... there? It was.... magical". BOOO-HOOO-HOOO (I have no qualms).
Jeremiah's wooden toy plane in the streets of Wilmington and then the real thing across the sky, just after the little family gets through the stones. Clever reminder of that plane landing in Boston, with Claire, Bree and TMcG... ho-hum ... Frank Randall, after Culloden.
And finally, since I would really like to let you enjoy the wonderful last quarter of it, Jamie and Claire. That unspeakable tenderness that keeps us all completely spellbound. This is S&C acting, how could it be otherwise: and splendid, at that. But their acting, since that chemistry test, is informed by clear, present, deep feelings. We know. They know we know.
And they got their mojo back. I always hoped and prayed they will go out with a bang, not a fizzle. And it seems I was right. Fingers crossed. I trust them and, as always, I trust my gut.

Threshold: live vicariously through me
Neelix, be loathed or beloved cook depending who you ask solves an engineering problem that two engineers and cocky flyboy with daddy issues can’t fix
Successful simulation
Great idea! Give the cocky flyboy pilot an ego boost that he very much doesn’t need by calling saying he’ll be a pioneer like Neil Armstrong or Zephram Cochrane! I don’t foresee that being an issue
It is an issue in the next scene
Cocky flyboy pilot argues with captain about going on the live test. L+Daddy issues+ratio. This scene exists for the sole purpose of telling us Tom has daddy issues and a superiority complex as if we couldn’t already tell
Cocky flyboy exceeds warp 10 on the shuttle they’ve named Cochrane as yet another ego boost to a man who does not need one
Warp ten: achieved. Flyboy: off the long range sensors. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Whoopsies he and the shuttle have materialised on the ship
Sick bay time
My man fucking ascended and existed everywhere and nowhere for a lil bit in an extremely Daniel Jackson From Stargate turn of events
Wow this is a normal episode of voyager so far……. A little goofy, maybe but not terrible
Just kidding he’s having an allergic reaction to water and can no longer breathe oxygen
He’s over sharing about losing his virginity and then randomly screams pepperoni and then demands pizza
Also wants kess to kiss him cuz he thinks he’s gonna die but she can’t breathe the nitrogen air and he dies kissless
KESS KISSES HIS FOREHEAD AFTER HE DIES????????!!?!????!?!!!?
Sike! Once again Inspired by beloved archaeologist, Daniel Jackson, he has come back to life and scared the hologram doctor but he’s losing hair and has another heart
A lower decker is a spy! Subplot that I forgot about
30 seconds of total footage about that so far
Back to Tom Paris Lizard Arc
He’s gross now and he’s snarkier than usual and Is Not Taking This Well and is having a Meltdown™️
Damn he tried to attack the captain and then bounced off the force field like a fly off a windshield
HOLY FUCK HE COUGHED UP HIS OWN TONGUE LMAO
His DNA is just constantly changing on a second by second basis
He’s Enlightened and he MUST leave this ship because “the future is in the past”
They’re gonna shove him in the warp core to fix him (kinda)
THE LIZARD MAN HAS BREACHED CONTAINMENT BITCH!!!!!
He has kidnapped his own captain and is going on a joyride in the shuttle (hehe they’re headed to warp 10 again!!!)
Chakotay is ON THE JOB
The doctor cracked the code: Tom is evolving at rapid speed, proving that salamander is the APEX HUMAN FORM
They’ve located Paris and the captain. They are full salamanders on a jungle planet
awwww cute little baby salamanders!!
and Chakotay LEFT THEM TO FUCKING DIE
Paris and the captain are human again and are now awkwardly talking about their babies
Emotional scene to talk about daddy issues and inadequacies blah blah blah
The end
Final thoughts: I ❤️ salamanders!!!! Also what the fuck!!!!

Richard in that pissed off about smoking clip from the making of Live in Paris video. LORD GIVE ME STRNGTH!
Hi 😌
I think this scene from the 'Rammstein in Paris' making of reached iconic levels by now. It marks just another moment of Richard displaying himself as such a snappy and bratty diva (which in reality he actually isn't, at least not as often as the fandom portrays him).
From the 'You can't even smoke in a CAR anymore??'-horror, where you can see the sheer annoyance in him, like why can't he ruin his lungs in peace?? He's like:
Tumblr media
To the indignant/resigned stare out of the window (only the raindrops on it are missing for the perfect effect):
Tumblr media
Like sorry my guy, that the government is kind of worried about your and other people's health (like the taxi driver's) I guess? He apparently sees it as a downfall for a whole nation 😩😮‍💨
And let's not forget the head butt™ like a displeased teen:
Tumblr media
Outrageous to think that he has to go a whole car ride without his beloved coffin nails - this man goes through several stages of suffering over this 😔
And then the 'keeping it in their pants' like sure, why not shitting on the French to give this tantrum a proper conclusion 👍🏻
So in conclusion: Yes lord give me strength, because on the one hand I'm pinching my nose like an exasperated school teacher and on the other hand I'm feeling all kinds of things because sadly he's just too hot during all this. 🤝🏼

thinking about what makes paris/lane/rory/jess as a quartet so satisfying and it’s that common thread between them and their relationships with their parents. they’re all dealing with the same struggle at their core; the fact that they feel unwanted and like they have to make up for their existence.
paris who uses her academic performance as a way to feel validation because she knows she’s difficult and uptight and that it makes her unlikeable. in all likelihood, she probably blames herself for her parents divorcing (most kids do). she can’t make up for it by changing her personality, so she compensates with academic success. for instance, after her debate with rory at chilton, her idea of ‘celebrating’ is by going over their transcript again. because how else is she supposed to spend time with rory without an excuse like studying?
and much like paris, jess gets handed off by his mother to someone who’s practically a stranger. paris probably had her nanny from a young age, especially if she learned to speak portuguese and spanish so fluently. but to jess, luke is his uncle by blood and nothing else. and it’s not like blood ties have guaranteed any care about his welfare in the past. and his perception of love is so tilted where luke pushing him into a lake is considered a fond memory. just to think about what message that sends to him; that i’m angry at you but i still want you around.
and i imagine lane feels the burden of conditional love just like jess does; she will be loved and taken care of as long as she is the perfect daughter, as long as she is christian, as long as she fulfills her mother’s criteria. jess will be sheltered and cared for as long as he graduates high school, and how many more conditions will luke have if he had graduated anyway? and so they both hide parts of themselves away; his need for financial independence and her love of music. lane’s entire identity gets erased because of her mother, and then zach, and then her kids. she’s so busy trying to balance her own identity against the want of her mother that she never commits to either and then loses everything.
and then rory, oh my beloved rory. rory who has spent her entire life to get to harvard. rory who can’t say no to anyone or anything. rory who spends her life trying to make up for the fact that she was a mistake. trying to be the perfect daughter, the perfect granddaughter, the perfect student, the perfect girlfriend. to live a life that cannot be reproached. so scared of changing her mind to go to yale, to go against everyone’s expectations. to be the opposite of contrarian. to never be accorded the responsibility of her actions. to never be seen as anything other than what people want her to be. and through that lens, the person she is gets completely neglected.
and so it’s such a shame we don’t get more scenes of the four of them together, giving each other that unconditional love they crave. paris and rory and lane and jess are all tied by the same thread, of needing to be free of those conditions and expectations.

Propaganda
Eleanor Parker (Scaramouche, The Sound of Music)— Eulogized as a ravishing beauty whose looks were merely ornamental to her craft, feast your eyes on Eleanor Parker. Listen! I know you're thinking of the Baroness in Sound of Music and saying NO I won't protect the woman who tried to steal him from Maria but forget about that (like you personally wouldn't shoot your shot with Plummer)! The trailer for Scaramouche describes her character Lenore as "The glamourous queen of the nightlife of Paris. A flame-haired wildcat" and this is a woman who was able to pull off that role, and you get the vibe she was like that irl too. There's a story about her changing hair colors that never fails to make me laugh. Take note of her stunning eyes! Her amazing legs! And to see her in motion is to make note of the aura about her, she has an amazing presence. Fall in love with Eleanor Parker today, and make your vote count!
Audrey Hepburn (My Fair Lady, Sabrina, Roman Holiday)—Growing up, Audrey Hepburn desperately wanting to be a professional ballerina, but she was starved during WWII and couldn't pursue her dream due to the effects of malnourishment. After she was cast in Roman Holiday, she skyrocketed to fame, and appeared in classics like My Fair Lady and Breakfast at Tiffany's. She's gorgeous, and mixes humor and class in all of her performances. After the majority of her acting career came to close, she became a UNICEF ambassador.
This is round 3 of the tournament. (yes I know it says round 2 in the poll. sometimes I post these when I’m sleepy.) All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Eleanor Parker:
Tumblr media
“When I’m spotted somewhere, it means that my characterizations haven’t covered up Eleanor Parker the person. I prefer it the other way around.” So shy she was actively nervous about winning awards in person, her personal life remains mostly behind the scenes. But on screen? she was a force majeure. It's a shame the role most people remember her in is the Baroness in The Sound of Music, but then again, it did make Christopher Plummer reminisce upon her passing “I was sure she was enchanted and would live forever.”
Tumblr media
Listen we all know Christopher Plummer and Julie Andrews had insane chemistry but the Baroness deserves some love too! She has such a glamorous presence but not in a hard way
Tumblr media
She will be known as the fabulous baroness in TSOM, but she was so much more than that. Just as comfortable in westerns or melodrama, the scheming other woman, and the beauty that wins the heart of every man in town.

Audrey Hepburn propaganda:
Tumblr media
"She may be a wispy, thin little thing, but when you see that girl, you know you're really in the presence of something. In that league there's only ever been Garbo, and the other Hepburn, and maybe Bergman. It's a rare quality, but boy, do you know when you've found it." - Billy Wilder
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Raised money for the resistance in nazi occupied Hungary. Became a humanitarian after retiring. Two very sexy things to do!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
where to begin......... i wont her so bad. i literally dont know what to say.
My dude. The big doe eyes, the cheekbones, the voice. The flawless way she carried herself. She was never in a movie where she wasn't drop dead gorgeous. Oh, also the fact she raised funds against the Nazis doing BALLET and she won the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her humanitarian work.
Tumblr media
"It’s as if she dropped out of the sky into the ’50s, half wood-nymph, half princess, and then disappeared in her golden coach, wearing her glass slippers and leaving no footprints." - Molly Haskell
"All I want for Christmas is to make another movie with Audrey Hepburn." - Cary Grant

I know people nowadays are probably sick of seeing her with all the beauty and fashion merch around that depicts her and/or Marilyn Monroe but she is considered a classic Hollywood beauty for a reason. Ironically in her day she was more of the alternative beauty when compared to many of her contemporaries. She always came off with such elegance and grace, and she was so charming. Apparently she was a delight to work with considering how many of her co-stars had wonderful things to say about her. Outside of her beauty and acting ability she was immensely kind. She helped raise funds for the Dutch resistance during WWII by putting on underground dance performances as well as volunteering at hospitals and other small things to help the resistance. During her Hollywood career and later years she worked with UNICEF a lot. Just an all around beautiful person both inside and out.
youtube
No one could wear clothes in this era like she could. She was every major designer's favorite star and as such her films are time capsules of high fashion at the time. But beyond that, she had such an elegance in her screen presence that belied a broad range of ability. From a naive princess, to a confused widow, to a loving and mischievous daughter, she could play it all.

Look at that woman's neck. Don't you want to bite it?

Hi there darling . I have some questions about loustat moment in Memnoch & TVA .
Is there any quotes in these two books where Louis went to see Lestat or visit him ? Or for example do we know why Louis and Lestat's relationship disappeared in the most half of the Memnoch ? Why they weren't together anymore ? Or what happened in Rio between David & Lestat & Louie ? Why don't we have Louis visit Lestat after his short waking up in TVA ? why don't we have Louis in TVA with Lestat ? Or vise versa? 😢
Hey dear!
You mean what happened in the jungles? That made them part? And then made Lestat wander?
In short: no.
But I disagree their relationship disappeared, or that they weren't together anymore, as you put it.
Let me expand on that :) In Memnoch there is this very short sentence that tells us that it was Lestat who left:
"Perhaps I hadn't experienced it since I had left him, with Louis. We had been in some nameless jungle place, the three of us, when we agreed to part, and that had been a year ago."
Supposedly he went back to Rio to hunt, and there had his first run in with the "stranger", Memnoch.
Later Lestat remarks that
"Louis took to wandering more and more often, and he had been seen once by David in the company of Armand in Paris."
But he also remarks that Louis had been there, at Rue Royale:
"His rooms were in order; new books had been added. There was a vivid and arresting new painting by Matisse."
And, Louis is there when Lestat is "back" - he tries to make Lestat come home, to their flat:
"Come home with me," he said. Such a human voice. So kind. "There's time to come here and reflect. Wouldn't you rather be home, in the Quarter, amongst our things?" If anything in the world could have truly comforted me, he would have been the thing—with just the beguiling tilt of his narrow head or the way that he kept looking at me, protecting me obviously with a confidential calm from what he must have feared for me, and for him, and perhaps for all of us.
And... it is not correct that Louis isn't with Lestat during his coma. In TVA David tells us of Louis,
"wandering from dusty corner to dusty corner, and then back to his flat in the Rue Royale when he's convinced himself once more and for the thousandth time that no one can harm Lestat."
And Armand later remarks that Louis
"had neglected his own hunger to be here on guard."
So Louis is there during Memnoch, he regularly comes by "their home", and calls it that, too. And he is with Lestat during his coma, as told of in TVA and Merrick.
I don't think they were not "together" anymore tbh... I think that is too simple for their relationship.
But it makes the recent Loustat scene from Anne's diary all the sharper in meaning, don't you think?
“I can’t live without you! “ he said. “I swear, you wander off on me again, I…”
Lestat... wanders off. As mentioned in TtotBT, Memnoch, PL. It happens when he feels too deeply, hates himself too much, tries to protect Louis, or cannot stand "cleaning up" anymore he wanders off, or lets himself be driven away. There is this little comment in PL, that that is what happened before Louis went to Trinity Gate to Armand:
So I let them drive me away out of the cities, and even from New Orleans, I let them drive me away. My beloved Louis de Pointe du Lac left soon after, and from that time on lived in New York with Armand. Armand keeps the island of Manhattan safe for them—Louis, Armand, and two young blood drinkers, Benjamin and Sybelle, and whoever else joins them in their palatial digs on the Upper East Side.
It is quite meaningful imho that Lestat puts these things together, especially since we know Armand manages to rouse him from his coma to "clean up" NOLA, and how he speaks of it later, how he hates executing others in his function as prince.
He needs Louis to be safe... but at that point he cannot stand to be the cause of death for others of their kind, qualms which Armand does not share.
So... there are a lot of hints.
There are a lot of hints as to why Lestat might have taken to wander away from Louis, too - he is well aware that his
"blood will make a monster of what's there.
And he cannot stand it, and Louis (kind of) resents him for that, too. They both have to come to terms with it.
It's difficult.
Theirs is a very difficult journey, but it is also a very rewarding one. And... as Jacob said so pointedly, it's a love story. :) Their love story.

Just some thoughts after watching Mission:Impossible - Dead Reckoning, Part 1 tonight...
***SPOILERS***
Okay, first of all: I absolutely LOVED it! Like the whole movie and I know that I will watch it multiple times in the cinema. I mean, yes, it was exciting, of course, it's M:I, but also really funny. My friend and I had to try so hard sometimes not to laugh out too loud. The car race? Amazing. Probably because I love car races in movies in general (even though I am always sorry for all the innocent cars and other things that get destroyed), there are always many funny one-liners, this time no exception.
But let me come to the point that is the reason why I'm writing this. Ilsa. My beloved. I have so many questions (Why the eye patch in the beginning?, for example) but first: No, you can't tell me you're really FUCKING dead!! There were a lot of reasons why I wasn't really, really sad when she "died". One was because so many things were happening immediately after that, there was no time to be sad, even for the audience. Another is; I don't really believe she's dead. I was always half expecting she'd appear in the next second. Like Paris. Apparently, she's not really dead either. And now I have one year, in which I can keep on believing she's still alive.
I mean, I finally get a few (very few) beautiful Ilsa/Ethan moments (this hug, when she realised it's Ethan in the dessert!! was my favorite because unexpected, because not in the trailer, iirc; but also the little looks they give each other), and then this happens!! AHHH. I'm sorry, I just can't handle this Ilsa-loss
Even though it meant less Ilsa, I was positively surprised by Grace. When the movie was promoted and Hayley Atwell seemed more important than Rebecca Ferguson, I was seriously disappointed, partly upset. But Ilsa aside, was Grace actually a really good character. She made me laugh, I didn't want her to die (nor Ilsa), and I the end in the train I wasn't just concerned about Ethan but also about her.
What I did realize was that Grace is kind of like Ilsa was in the beginning. Or at least similar. I realized it when Grace wanted to leave the party, was attacked by two men, and Ethan came to help her. The moment she was free and the men fought with Ethan, she left the scene instead of now helping Ethan. I feel like this is something Rogue-Nation-Ilsa would have done too.
I'm glad that Benji had his bomb defusing scene. When he's under pressure he often has funny lines, and while I know that Benji isn't just there for the funny lines, I appreciate and love them. Also I love that we had multiple (at least two??) times when Benji gave Ethan directions while Ethan ran/drove. My immediate comparison was "like in MI3", one of Benjis first actions, but then I realized that he also does it in Fallout, and it's even more iconic there.
I was seriously confused by Paris. It's probably due to something I missed at one point, but like, what does she even do (aside from having too much fun when driving a car that is too big through streets that are too small, with the intention of apparently killing two people in a yellow Fiat 500, while looking like a maniac)?? I really didn't get it.
Okay, I would love to say more about Ilsa but also about everyone and everything else, maybe another time, I need to sleep...
