Barnes & Noble has a Great In Store Tamagotchi Uni Deal
Tumblr media
Listen to this deal. Discovered by mad_sa on Reddit, Barnes & Noble in store has the Tamagotchi Uni for 50% off bringing it down to $29.99, but that’s not it! On top of that its part of their buy one get one for $1 sale. Meaning if you purchase two Tamagotchi Uni’s, you can get them for a total of $30.99. Thats a little over $15 each! How incredible is this deal? Don’t miss it!

Cash Register Controversy
OK tumblr, poll time. This topic has caused unexpected and SIGNIFICANT disagreement in the friend group, divided families, etc, and now we need to know who is right. Both sides are disturbed at the other's way of life. There can be no compromise.
After you vote, kindly put your country/state/etc, your industry (food service? retail? ticketing? banking? something else?), and your handedness (left or right) in the tags, because we need to know how and why this schism exists in order to sleep at night.

I took your open advice on running, went and got measured for actual shoes that are made for running, instead of wearing through the cheapest pair i can find every few months. Huge improvement right away! Ran my full route without needing to stop for breaks from knee pain. My joints and i thank you

Interesting (presumably unplanned) side effect of Michigan's new gun laws:
So we've gone back to the CCL/LTP process for handgun sales. This means that people purchasing a handgun in Michigan need to have either their Concealed Carry License (take a class, pass your check, get a card good for five years), or a License to Purchase (go to police station, do some paperwork, pass your check, get a piece of a paper that will allow you to buy one (1) gun within thirty days of issue). This is a must have situation. We will not so much as look in the direction of the gun counter laptop without you have either the CCL or that piece of paper from the police department.
Well, Saturday night, we had a customer come in without that piece of paper. He was trying to get it, couldn't find a notary, do we really-- I finally got him around to Yes, Really, I Need The Paper, so he put the gun he wanted on layaway and said he'd be back sometime when the notaries were working. Sunday morning, there he is again -- he's found the notary, but now the Sheriff's department is having issues with their computer, so it'll probably be another hour or so. He shops around a bit, leaves the store, is gone for a while.
Sunday afternoon, he calls, saying he knows it's a thirty day layaway, but how long can he extend it if he really really needs to? He's not sure how long he'll need to, only that he'll need to.
'Cause when he went back to the police station to finally get his LTP, he got arrested. Warrant out for him. Unpaid child support. So now he has to settle that before he can do anything else.
I'm not going to lie -- I'm not terribly sympathetic to his plight here.
But also this is something that I straight up just didn't think about. Because this is not the only person who's about to find out they have a warrant in a really awkward way.
Some single parents might get an unexpected check or two, though, and that's nice!

working retail is making me remember how much i hate stupid customers btw
#so i work in a tiny nonprofit thrift store. right.#its one room w concrete floors and very compact shelving because there is just No Room for anything.#and our office/employee backroom/breakroom is a little corner with wood+canvas dividers separating it from the rest of the store#with LOTS of signs saying employees only nothing is for sale here etc etc etc#and there was a customer today who went through the divider to ''shop'' in the ''other section of the store''#and we didnt even KNOW someone was back there until she brought up one of my coworker's purses to ask how much it was </3#im so baffled. there are so many signs saying its employees only.#not to mention that the office is full of notes and paperwork and my boss's computer and filing cabinets and the fridge and microwave#its CLEARLY an office/break room. even if you ignore all the signs. and YET.#there's also people who will literally just steal. anything and everything#which like. i will always support shoplifting from walmart or another big retail company. in fact i encourage it.#but a tiny locally owned NONPROFIT thrift store that supports local arts ???? HELLO ????????????????#gah. i should be allowed to throttle one customer per day. i should get paid to do so#most of them are so so sweet. we have regulars who are in almost every day and they are the NICEST people ever#but its just those few who are absolutely the worst most selfish stupid people to ever live#woes from work#winter speaks#all complaining aside i do enjoy my job quite a bit more than i thought i would#i like my coworkers and i feel like im actually connecting with most of them#and i love my supervisor. i have so much respect for her she's an amazing person#you win some you lose some i guess. cool job i actually like but with stupid fucking customers who make me want to MURDER

Once again lamenting about job searching in this area being awful.
I really need to leave my current job for my own sanity, but I'm not gonna do that if every single alternative is worse, y'know??

🇺🇲 🏦 🚨 U.S. RETAIL SALES DOWN 3.1 pct YEAR-ON-YEAR FROM 2022
U.S. retail sales, excluding consumer vehicles, grew 3.1% year-on-year for the period from Nov. 1st 2023 to Dec. 24th 2023, according to preliminary data from the MasterCard Spending pulse report issued on Tuesday.
Previously, the U.S. economy recorded a 7.6% year-on-year expansion, writes Xinhua News Agency.
In further detail, online retail sales grew by 6.3% year-on-year, while brick-and-mortar retail only grew by 2.2% year-on-year.
Restaurant sales saw a year-on-year expansion of 7.8% for the same period, while sales in Jewelry shrank by 2% and sales in electronics were down 0.4%.
Data was based on non-inflation adjusted aggregate sales activity from the MasterCard payments network in combination with survey-based estimates for certain payment forms including cash and check.
Further, the U.S. National Retail Foundation forecast for holiday spending for Nov. and Dec. 2023 expected growth of a projected 3-4% over 2022 to between $957.3 billion to $966.6 billion.
