Black Women's Health Imperative Frustrated with Revised Breast Cancer Screening Guidelines
BWHI supports revised breast cancer screening guidelines but calls for annual screenings to address health disparities faced by Black women. #breastcancer #womenshealth #healthdisparities #BWHI
Black Women’s Health Imperative (BWHI) has issued a statement supporting the revised breast cancer screening guidelines of the US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) that call for biannual screenings to begin at age 40, instead of 50. However, BWHI expressed frustration that the new guidelines do not address the concerns of Black women, who are diagnosed with breast cancer at a younger age

"Heh. Surreal... All of it."
"What's that?"
"I'd've been home by now. Reading the evening brief, a glass of water and two sleeping pills waiting on the night table."
"Doesn't sounds like you miss it much."
"Hmm."

Btw, this is what editing on this paper has been like (Patreon)
#In other words: Hell#Lol#Normally I wouldn't show my process but I Must drag this paper it is So bad#Plus you can see some of the other little tricks I do! I leave things mo~stly alone but I will sometimes cheat where I can!#I'll also reconstruct if something can't be saved or if I just forgot to draw something on paper lol - or if I ran out of room#Ughhhh these edits took foreverrrrrr#I did some quick math on it somewhat recently actually#An average single edit takes ~4 minutes of continuous work#Averaged between the low of a couple minutes and high of getting into double digits#There was a whole thing about each page having approx. 30 doodles and each doodle being 4mins of editing and each set being 6 doodles etc. e#Basically I put a lot of time into my art and the majority of that isn't even drawing lol#I have Got to find a way to flip that metric...#But with these - these Easily averaged into the double digits each#It's mostly cleaning - stray lines don't take much time at all! Even reconstruction isn't bad#But for whatever reason this paper just Textures Horribly#Leave my blank spaces blank! I don't want toning there!#You can even see! I didn't leave behind all that many guidelines! It was just the paper being awful!#Some of it's still there if you tip your screen at certain angles#I can't because - broken hinge lol - so I mostly had to guess where to hit#Ugh. I'm just glad I'm finally done with this paper#I miss Norcom so bad :( I haven't been able to track down a distributor for years now

I don't remember having to do this more than once. And I thought my agreement going forward was implied the first time I agreed to use this service?
Also, if these updates are so important, then why not just list the summary in the pop-up so I don't have to go web-surfing for answers?
Tumblr media
... oh! Because the "summary" page is absolutely rubbish. I see.
Man, to think I used to trust this company. "Skype-killer", indeed.

Hello there. This is me asking you to talk about the glass onion thing, I wanna know 😌
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ok i just spent. an hour. writing a whole essay. and then accidentally deleted it. so!!!! i don't think i have the energy to rewrite the whole thing but the condensed version of the glass onion thoughts:
the movie itself was fun and i don't think there's anything wrong with enjoying it, but what bothers me is seeing so many responses praising the movie as though it was this groundbreaking anticapitalist critique when in reality the actual message of the movie was neither groundbreaking nor particularly anticapitalist and the movie itself is very much invested in capitalism; it's a film made by a multi-billion corporation whose primary purpose is to make rich people richer.
and i think a lot of this uncritically positive praise that treats the movie as though it's making some important political statement is falling into the trap of asking "does this media say something good or bad" rather than asking "is this media a lecture or a conversation." because sure, glass onion seems to be saying "eat the rich!", but that message is very carefully outlined in bite-sized chunks that are then spoonfed to the audience. like, it's very clear who's good and who's bad, and it's very clear why those people are good and bad, to the point that the viewer isn't really encouraged to question those assumptions and is supposed to just sit back and agree with the points the movie is making. and if more people were approaching media critique with the starting point of "is this a lecture or a conversation," i think fewer people would fall into this trap of just going "oh, this movie is saying something i agree with!" and instead pause and ask "why isn't this movie encouraging me to draw my own conclusions?" because in the case of glass onion, i think the answer to that question is that the movie is not really making any groundbreaking critique and is rather a perfect example of "anti-capitalist" capitalist media that works to keep people complacent by making them feel as though there's some important challenge being made when there's not.

i hate it when they talk about insomnia and sleep problems in general on tv. yes it’s great that it’s talked about so ppl don’t feel alone yes their tips and guidelines on how to make things better work for a lot of ppl etc etc. but their sleep hygiene guidelines don’t work for everyone and for us they don’t work for get judged for not implementing them and gets told that it’s our own fault we struggle falling alders because we don’t follow the guidelines. like I’ve been taught about sleep hygiene and no screens and relax and all that shit for years and years and years. they don’t work on me. it’s not like I’m sitting here thinking ‘you know what? i’m gonna ignore these tips and tricks I’ve learned and that really help me in favor of laying awake for three hours every night’ like come on. I wouldn’t ignore them if they were working, I’d happily use them. but the fact is that they make things worse. laying in bed playing games on my phone is actually helping me fall asleep, it helps my mind focus on something and not go off on it’s own. it actually helps me fall asleep quicker than not playing games. so no, me playing games on my phone when I’m trying to sleep is not why I have sleep issues
