وَمَن جَٰهَدَ فَإِنَّمَا يُجَٰهِدُ لِنَفۡسِهِۦٓۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَغَنِيٌّ عَنِ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

And whoever strives only strives for [the benefit of] himself. Indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds.

-Sura Al-Ankabut, Ayah 6

وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ ۖ فَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ الْكَاذِبِينَ (quran.ms.db) Dan demi sesungguhnya! Kami telah menguji orang-orang yang terdahulu daripada mereka, maka (dengan ujian yang demikian), nyata apa yang diketahui Allah tentang orang-orang yang sebenar-benarnya beriman, dan nyata pula apa yang diketahuiNya tentang orang-orang yang berdusta. -Sura Al-Ankabut, Ayah 3 Fuhh...apa yang dirancang terus bertukar tragedi. Plan by plan, nak beraya sana, santuni akhowat ini, tuptup lain Allah susun. Should be hari ni tak nak penat dan lama-lama beraya. Tak boleh pergi semua, satu je rumah. Okay, decide to go Rawang. Tapi akhowat tak cukup kereta nak beraya juga ke destinasi lain. Jadi kereta dibawa mereka, berayalah dengan tumpang kawan. Baliknya, hmm gamble. Allahu sabar.. Ditanya, "Cane balik ni?".. Jawabnya, "boleh tumpangkan ke ktm?". MasyaAllah tunggu ktm hampir sejam. Aku masih lagi tak lepas dengan ujian bab menunggu nih. Allahu sabar.. Dah sampai je train, naik dan alhamdulillah ada seat. Check nak lalu route apa. Banyak dan pening juga. Turun ktm, naik mrt, tukar lrt di pasar seni. Allahu sabar.. Akhowat yang pinjam kereta call, "Aseef kemalangan kecil pada kereta awak etc...". Okay, tak apa. Ni semua ujian untuk naikkan darjat, pengampuan dosa atau test iman kita. Note yang dihantar pada dia. Aku? Rasa .... Tak sedih, cuba meredhai. Allahu sabar.. Sampai lrt, akhowat tolong amikkan. Tunggu lagi. Malam ni kena siapkan project yang tak faham sangat. Allahu sabar.. Banyak, bertimpa-timpa hati terasa berat. Tapi kekadang masih takde rasa yang sebenarnya. Masih lost, nothing happened. Aku takut, apakah ujian yang paling besar untuk aku hadapi sebenarnya adalah hilangnya perasaan! Despite tunggu berlamaan, kereta kecelakaan, kerja tak siap. Takut, adakah sebab perlakuan dosa yang bertimbun sedang aku dalam keadaan ditarbiyah. Ya Ghafur, Ya Afuw, Ya Tawwab. Ampunkan dosa-dosa hambaMu ini.

Sura al-Qadr - Chapter 97

The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) has said that one who recites it is regarded (by the Almighty) as though he fasted the month of Ramadan and spent Laylatul Qadr adoring his Maker.

Sura al-Ankabut (The Spider) - Chapter 29

Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (pbuh) said: “Whoever recites Sura’s Ankabut and ar-Rum on the 23rd nightof Ramadan will certainly be among the people of paradise without any exception... and surely thesetwo Sura’s have a high position with Allah.” He (pbuh) has also said, “One who recites Sura al-Ankabut will receive ten good deeds for the number of each and every believer and disbeliever.”

Sura ar-Rum (The Romans) - Chapter 30

The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) is quoted saying that one who recites Surat ar-Rum will receive ten good deeds for each angel praising Allah between the earth and the heavens, and he will have compensated for whatever he missed during his day and night, adding, according to al-Kaf’ami, “I do not make any exception for it, nor do I fear (for having said so) that I am committing a sin (for making such a statement), and these Sura’s enjoy a special favor with Allah; I mean Sura al-Ankabut and Sura ar-Rum.”

Sura ad-Dukhaan (The Smoke) - Chapter 44

The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) is quoted saying that whoever recites this Sura on a Friday night will be forgiven and will receive for each of its verses the rewards of one who sets a hundred thousand slaves free, and seventy thousand angels will seek forgiveness for him; and Allah will build a mansion for whoever recites it on Fridays. Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (pbuh) has said that one who recites it during his obligatory and optional prayers will be resurrected among those who will be secure and Allah will shade him with the shade of His Arsh and will try him an easy trial and give him his book (of reckoning) in his right hand.

Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe" and they will not be tried?

وَلَقَدۡ فَتَنَّا ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۖ فَلَيَعۡلَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ صَدَقُواْ وَلَيَعۡلَمَنَّ ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ

Bismillah

Semalam perjalanan yang tak terduga terjadi. Planning ke uni untuk uruskan early transcript decided lepas hantar anak-anak ke sekolah. Alhamdulillah, afternoon is free. So boleh ke uni dengan public. It's been a long time taking public transport.

But decision to take a public trans pun teruji dan lambat. Now I know I'm not good in making decisions. Dalam kereta still terfikir lagi nak naik highway atau mrt. Nak park surau mrt dah jauh pula pusing satu bandar. And that time dah pukul 9 lebih. It takes around 2 hours nak ke uni. If I'm late, the office would close for lunch. Nooo

Alhamdulillah finally decided to park nearby surau mrt and took mrt. A few stations passed, then two men were coming towards my seat and sit besides me. Oh no! At first ingatkan dia selang satu seat tapi tak! Sebab dia besar so his body took place seat sebelah tu juga. And he's wearing short. Aurat huuu

Okay fine. I just stayed still and read book until arghhh i cannot stand anymore. I felt too distracted and decided to find a better seat for me. As the train almost reached the station, I stood up and waited in front of the door. Disebabkan semua tengok and nobody enter or going out, and I can't try looking a seat, I just went out from the train!!

The next train was 7 minutes later. Wow, what I've done? Dah lambat dah nak ke uni dan boleh pula keluar train. But I felt relieved. Alhamdulilah, Allah saved me from the situation.

وَٱلَّذِينَ جَٰهَدُواْ فِينَا لَنَهۡدِيَنَّهُمۡ سُبُلَنَاۚ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَمَعَ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ

Dan orang-orang yang berusaha dengan bersungguh-sungguh kerana memenuhi kehendak ugama Kami, sesungguhnya Kami akan memimpin mereka ke jalan-jalan Kami (yang menjadikan mereka bergembira serta beroleh keredaan); dan sesungguhnya (pertolongan dan bantuan) Allah adalah berserta orang-orang yang berusaha membaiki amalannya. (Sura Al-Ankabut, Ayah 69)

He knows the best. Sesampai dekat pasar seni, bas yang diinginkan memang tengah tunggu. Allahu terharu.

Sometimes benda yang berlaku dalam hidup kita atas pilihan kita, sama ada kita ikut yang baik atau sebaliknya. Yang bermujahadah untuk Allah atau tunduk pada nafsunya. Percayalah, even susah perit untuk tinggalkan nafsu, bermujahadah tak ikut dunia, Allah ada. Allah akan tolong. Allah bagi nikmat, petunjuk, rahmat. Keep faith on Him. Your pain, struggle, tired Allah would count.

Hopefully diri ini sentiasa kuat dan terus mujahadah untuk Allah.

Rejeki

Mau sekeras apapun mencari, besar kecil rejeki itu sudah ditentukan sedari dulu.

وَكَأَيِّنْ مِنْ دَابَّةٍ لَا تَحْمِلُ رِزْقَهَا اللَّهُ يَرْزُقُهَا وَإِيَّاكُمْ ۚ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

Dan berapa banyak makhluk bergerak yang bernyawa yang tidak (dapat) membawa (mengurus) rezekinya sendiri. Allah-lah yang memberi rezeki kepadanya dan kepadamu. Dia Maha Mendengar, Maha Mengetahui.

-Sura Al-Ankabut, Ayah 60

وَلَوْ بَسَطَ اللَّهُ الرِّزْقَ لِعِبَادِهِ لَبَغَوْا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَٰكِنْ يُنَزِّلُ بِقَدَرٍ مَا يَشَاءُ ۚ إِنَّهُ بِعِبَادِهِ خَبِيرٌ بَصِيرٌ

Dan sekiranya Allah melapangkan rezeki kepada hamba-hamba-Nya niscaya mereka akan berbuat melampaui batas di bumi, tetapi Dia menurunkan dengan ukuran yang Dia kehendaki. Sungguh, Dia Mahateliti terhadap (keadaan) hamba-hamba-Nya, Maha Melihat.

-Sura Ash-Shura, Ayah 27

Yang bisa kita tentukan hanyalah perantara rejeki.

أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَجْمِلُوا فِى الطَّلَبِ فَإِنَّ نَفْسًا لَنْ تَمُوتَ حَتَّى تَسْتَوْفِىَ رِزْقَهَا وَإِنْ أَبْطَأَ عَنْهَا فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَجْمِلُوا فِى الطَّلَبِ خُذُوا مَا حَلَّ وَدَعُوا مَا حَرُمَ

“Wahai manusia bertakwalah kepada Allah dan pilihlah cara yang baik dalam mencari rezeki, karena tidaklah suatu jiwa akan mati hingga terpenuhi rezekinya, walau lambat rezeki tersebut sampai kepadanya, maka bertakwalah kepada Allah dan pilihlah cara yang baik dalam mencari rezeki, ambillah rezeki yang halal dan tinggalkanlah rezeki yang haram” (HR. Ibnu Majah, dan Syaikh Al-Albani menshahihkannya).

A Muslim's reflection on Hawking and the likes..

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الحمد لله رب العالمين والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله

As a student of Astrophysics, I have always found myself plunging into studying the cosmos. Lately I have also started reading about particle physics. In short I can describe my experience as breath-taking! I am stunned by the creation of Almighty.

At the same time, I always wonder, why the likes of smart people, highly intelligent, like Hawking (Theorotical Physicist - highly known for his work on Black Holes and Hawking Radiation, who died today), Ed Witten (proposer of M-theory) etc. did/do not receive guidance to believe in a Superme Creator..

(Hawking has produced some amazing research on Black Holes. Hawking Radiation describes the process on how a black hole slowly evaporates and loses its existence)

I found my answer in the Nobel Qur'an, where Allaah عز وجل says,

وَعَادًا وَثَمُودَ وَقَدْ تَبَيَّنَ لَكُمْ مِنْ مَسَاكِنِهِمْ ۖ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَعْمَالَهُمْ فَصَدَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّبِيلِ وَكَانُوا مُسْتَبْصِرِينَ

"And 'Ad and Thamud (people)! And indeed (their destruction) is clearly apparent to you from their (ruined) dwellings. Shaitan (Satan) made their deeds fair-seeming to them, and turned them away from the (Right) Path, though they were intelligent."

-Sura Al-Ankabut, Ayah 38

For anyone who knows the history of the people of 'Ad and Thamud, it becomes apparent that they were highly intelligent, strongly built, carved homes in sand hills - a feat which requires planned engineering (refer Tasfir ibn Kathir). This becomes explicit in the ayah,

أَوَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ فَيَنْظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ كَانُوا أَشَدَّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةً وَأَثَارُوا الْأَرْضَ وَعَمَرُوهَا أَكْثَرَ مِمَّا عَمَرُوهَا وَجَاءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُمْ بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ ۖ فَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلَٰكِنْ كَانُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ

"Do they not travel in the land, and see what was the end of those before them? They were superior to them in strength, and they tilled the earth and populated it in greater numbers than these (pagans) have done, and there came to them their Messengers with clear proofs. Surely, Allah wronged them not, but they used to wrong themselves."

-Sura Ar-Rum, Ayah 9

Going back the former ayah in Surah al-Ankabut, Allaah عز وجل uses the word مُسْتَبْصِرِينَ to describe the people of 'Ad and Thamud - that means they were given baseerah - they were a people with deep insights. That's why, Dr. Muhsin Khan and Taqi ud Deen al-Hilali (May Allaah have mercy upon both of them) interpreted the word مُسْتَبْصِرِينَ as 'they (people of 'Ad and Thamud) were intelligent'.

So it becomes explicit now, people with high intelligence doesn't necessarily mean they'll be guided. Why aren't they guided then?

Dr. Muhsin Khan and Taqi ud Deen al-Hilali mentioned the five reasons why people fall into major disbelief in the appendix of their interpretation of the Noble Qur'an,

So basically, it is one of the reasons above, the well known scientists today persist in their disbelief and hence lack guidance towards the ultimate truth.

I'd like to conclude this article by including another ayah from the Noble Qur'an and سبحان الله , this from Surah al-Ankabut again,

Allaah عز وجل says,

وَالَّذِينَ جَاهَدُوا فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا ۚ وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَمَعَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ

"As for those who strive hard in Us (Our Cause), We will surely guide them to Our Paths (i.e. Allah's Religion - Islamic Monotheism). And verily, Allah is with the Muhsinun (good doers)."

-Sura Al-Ankabut, Ayah 69

May Allaah عز وجل guide all those who sincerely strive to seek the truth.

LOS CINCO PILARES DEL ISLAM: La Oración Diaria: La Parte 1

Las oraciones diarias prescritas, salat en árabe, son la práctica central que conforma la rutina diaria y la conciencia de un musulmán. Cada oración es una serie de posiciones y posturas en las cuales algunas porciones del Corán son recitadas, se le da alabanzas a Dios y el creyente recita súplicas. El propósito principal de las cinco oraciones diarias es infundir la conciencia de Dios en el individuo. Dios señaló en el Corán:

¡Sé constante en la oración para recordarme! (Sura at-Taha, 20:14)

El recuerdo de Dios alimenta al corazón. Es el camino verdadero de la  felicidad. Dios dice:

"Ciertamente es por eso que los corazones  encuentran sosiego con el recuerdo de Dios" (Sura ar-Rad, 13:28).

Cuando el corazón falla abandonando a Dios, Satanás establece control sobre   él. Los pecados se hacen atrayentes y la fe se debilita. El recuerdo de Dios es  el antídoto.

Transmite el Libro que te ha revelado y establece el salat (la oración),  es ciertamente el salat lo que impide la indecencia y lo reprobable y  todo tipo de maldad. El recuerdo de Dios en verdad es el mayor, y Dios sabe todo  lo que hacéis. (Sura al-Ankabut, 29:45)

Los musulmanes rezan cinco veces al día. La oración en horas diferentes del  día previene a la gente de encauzarse demasiado en sus necesidades mundanas  inmediatas. Es un recordatorio de que Dios es el Proveedor, el Sustentador y  Aquél que suple todas nuestras necesidades. La oración es obligatoria para cada   musulmán que ha alcanzado la edad de la pubertad. Pero es mejor alentar a los  niños a comenzar antes para preparar sus corazones hacia la misma.

Uno de los símbolos del Islam, el adzan, es la llamada a la oración.   Recitando las siguientes palabras de forma melódica, un muecín llama a los  musulmanes a la mezquita a rezar, cuando el tiempo prescrito comienza:

Allahu akbar "Dios es el Más Grande, Dios es el Más Grande", cuatro  veces. Ashadu an la ilaha illa´llah "Doy fe de que no hay más divinidad que Dios",  dos veces. Ashadu anna MuhammadanRasulu´llah "Doy fe de que Muhammad es el Mensajero  de Dios", dos veces. Hayya ´ala´s-salah "Venid a la oración", dos veces. Hayya ´ala´l-falah "Venid a la salvación", dos veces. Allahu Akbar "Dios es el Más Grande", dos veces. La ilaha illa´llah "Doy fe de que no hay más divinidad que Dios", una vez.

La primera oración (fayr o subh) comienza alrededor de una hora  y media antes de la salida del sol. Es un tiempo en el que el cuerpo quiere  permanecer dormido. Para superar la inercia con el fin de levantarse y recordar  al Creador se requiere luchar contra uno mismo. Efectuar esta oración  diariamente es un adiestramiento muy efectivo para que el ego se someta a la  Voluntad de Dios. Esta oración se halla compuesta de cuatro ciclos (rak’a), el   primer grupo de dos siendo la oración sunna, y los últimos dos formando la  oración obligatoria (fard).

La segunda oración (zuhr) comienza alrededor de la hora en que uno  dejaría de trabajar para ir a comer (al menos en la mayoría de los lugares del  mundo) justo después de que el Sol alcanza su cenit. Además de alimentar nuestro  cuerpo, deberíamos alimentar nuestra alma también. Consta de diez ciclos; el   primer grupo de cuatro es la oración sunna, seguida de un grupo de cuatro  que es la oración fard, y otro grupo de dos que establece la oración  sunna.

La tercera oración (asr) se halla a mitad de camino entre el mediodía  y la puesta de sol, alrededor de la hora en que la gente normalmente toma un  descanso o se dirige a casa después del trabajo. Esta consiste en ocho ciclos,  un grupo de cuatro completan la oración sunna, seguida de otro grupo de  cuatro que conforman la oración fard.

La cuarta oración (magrib) tiene lugar en el tiempo en que la mayoría  de la gente está cenando. Consiste de cinco ciclos. El primer grupo de tres es  la oración fard y el otro grupo de dos es la oración sunna.

La quinta oración (isha) se da en el tiempo en que uno se está  relajando, preparándose para dormir. Consiste de 10 ciclos; el primer grupo de  cuatro es la oración sunna, seguida de un grupo de cuatro que conforma la  oración fard, a continuación seguido por un grupo de dos que completa  otra oración sunna. Un grupo adicional de oraciones, witr, es  ofrecida después de terminar toda la oración isha. La oración witr  es wayib (necesaria) y consiste en tres ciclos.

Aquél que quiere llevar a cabo estas oraciones debe estar físicamente limpio.  Existen dos maneras de ser considerado limpio en el Islam: el baño y la ablución.

El Baño (Gusl) - La Ablución mayor

El cuerpo entero, incluyendo los orificios de la nariz, la boca y la cabeza,  deben ser lavados con un baño completo antes de comenzar a rezar en los  siguientes casos:

Inmediatamente después de recitar la shahada (es decir, justo  después de que uno haya abrazado el Islam).

Después de las relaciones sexuales.

Después de cualquier descarga seminal.

Al finalizar el período menstrual.

Al final del período de sangrado post-parto (éste período es de un  máximo de cuarenta días).

También es muy recomendable realizar gusl al menos una vez a la  semana, o incluso más, especialmente antes de asistir a las oraciones del  Viernes (Yuma) y de la Festividad de Eid.

Como una parte inseparable de cualquier acto de devoción y práctica de fe,   uno debe ser consciente de su "intención" al inicio del baño, la cual es el  propósito de pureza y devoción. El Profeta, la paz y las bendiciones sean con  él, llevaba a cabo gusl del modo siguiente:

Tomando una ablución menor completa (como la que se efectúa para las  oraciones diarias pero con una excepción: el Profeta solía posponer el  lavado de los pies hasta el final de su gusl si estaba usando un  recipiente).

Frotando con agua el cabello tres veces, dejando que el agua llegue a  las raíces del cabello (si tu cabello está trenzado, no hay necesidad de   deshacer la trenza mientras que el agua pueda llegar a las raíces).

Lavando ambas manos tres veces.

Lavando las partes pudendas y las raíces del vello.

Poniendo agua sobre el cuerpo entero, comenzando con el lado derecho y  luego el izquierdo, lavando las axilas, la parte interna de las orejas, el   ombligo, los talones y cualquier parte del cuerpo que pueda ser frotada con  facilidad.
