Error 404 : web page not found.

It’s funny to me, this textile idea was inspired by the tumblr aesthetics of 2014. The XD. The rawr factor. Even the obsessive pixel vaporwave aesthetics of the early 2000s. It’s a love for the funniies. And I guess out of all the platforms that there are. Tumblr is the one that will understand the satire better than anyone else.

Enjoy the flashbacks.

Just know that rawr XD. Is always sincere. When everything else is satire.

The recipe to the screen printing.

Two silk screens were needed for these art pieces.

And several pigments. Ranging from neons to self mixed pigments using water based screen printing dyes.

The idea behind the placement was to embrace the process of the fast drying properties of the dyes, the way they would block up the silk screens, the way it would distort the pattern intrigues me. For the design itself. All the prints needed to be unique. Each flood and print of the screen would create a new variation, never looking identical.

The two layers needed to be ever so slightly out of line with one another. Multiplying the corruption of the design. Similar to staple malware, these tabs and dialogue boxes needed to portray a glitch in the system, and I wanted to placement to showcase this Distortion.

And ombré.

Oh my oh my is ombré a weakness of mine, I was attempting at using colour theory to minimise the amount of colours I would need to mix. Success. I landed at 3, my signature colours, pink, purple and blue. Neon pink, cool toned purple and cyan blue. In this case scenario, alongside black for boldness and neon yellow as a complimentary and transitional shade.

The far bottom left image , consisting of the phone boxes and vienetta icecream swirls ; is an acrylic painting, with hand stitched embroidery and sparkly cd type sequins. Bcoz txt changd evythn. It’s a salut to what came before texting, wavelengths of radio waves and phone calls.
