Red Sand, Blue Sea
CW: Canon typical violence, some light angst and self hatred, rare pair (Kisame x Sasori)
Sasori stood frozen, staring at the Hoshigaki before him.
The blue Hoshigaki before him.
He’d never seen the color blue before and he wasn’t supposed to until he met his destined half, his soulmate. Just his luck that that half was on the other side of a war. The bitter part of him that had been growing since he’d learned the truth of his parents’ death at twelve told him that it was the universe’s way of scolding him for being so childish. How could he be so stupid and naive to believe that there was some fated person out there that he actually had a chance of being with? How could he be so stupid and naive to hold onto that hope, that fairytale?
He watched from the treeline as the Kirigakure ninja fought Sasori’s squad with a simple sword. He knew who the other was from the Sunagakure spy network. He was Kisame Hoshigaki, the eleven-year-old student of the seven swordsman Fuguki and member of Kiri’s intelligence control unit. He was labeled as a high level threat because of both his skill as a shinobi and because he was the most likely candidate for taking on the sword Samehada when Fuguki finally kicks the bucket like most of the other swordsmen. He had taken this mission just to meet the Hoshigaki. He wanted to see the face of the man who desecrated his own teammates until they were unrecognizable.
Sasori was snapped back into being a soldier when one of his teammates fell in two pieces. He pulled out one of the scrolls from off his back and summoned Karasu. He observed as the swordsman held off his two remaining teammates alone. His teammates were both skilled in their own right, it’s the only reason he was working with them, but it was obvious that they were wearing out much faster than their Hoshigaki opponent. Sasori might’ve been impressed if his struggling wasn’t prolonging the fight and, by proxy, wasting his time. Instead he was just annoyed. Seeing an opening, Sasori ignored the nagging, immature want to spare the other and shot a poison tipped senbon into his shoulder. The Hoshigaki jumped back and ripped the needle out of his arm, glancing at it with gritted teeth. He doubted the other was stupid enough to think that any Suna weapon wasn’t poisoned.
One of his squadmates was stupid though, looking back at his captain yelling, “Yeah! You got him Sasori!” The redhead felt no sympathy or grief when Kisame promptly decapitated him. Not only was his teammate dumb enough to take his eyes off of his still standing enemy, but he also revealed Sasori’s position. The fool had it coming.
His marginally smarter squadmate—which was a very low bar—threw a barrage of kunai at Kisame. Unsurprisingly, the target managed to counter or dodge each knife before reflecting one on his assailant and snatching one out of the air to throw at Sasori. The puppeteer deflected the kunai back at the Kiri ninja with a twitch of his pinky. His teammate was less skilled, getting his own weapon lodged in his throat.
Sasori jumped down from where he was perched on a tree branch. There was no point in staying hidden anymore. If his idiot teammate obviously looking back at him didn’t give away his position, then him deflecting the kunai had. He stepped out from the trees’ shadows, revealing himself. Kisame’s eyes widened just slightly in surprise. After a moment, he said, “So, you’re Sasori of the Red Sand. What’s a celebrity doing in such a small pond?” The man sounded calm, maybe even confident, but Sasori concluded it was a cover up. He wasn’t surprised to see it was Sasori standing there, not when he didn’t react to his name being called out before, he was surprised that he was his soulmate.
Without hesitation, he directed Karasu to attack Kisame. The other was caught off guard but still parried perfectly. He pushed the puppet away from him for just long enough to regain his balance, “Not much of a talker, huh?” Sasori shot kunai at him and Kisame dodged them all. “Small talk is a waste of time and I suggest you don’t waste yours. That poison will have you dead in five minutes, and that’s without your movements speeding up the process.” The two’s fight continued in silence, Kisame doing all he could to keep Karasu from tearing into him. But his movements were becoming slow and sluggish by the second. He fell to one knee, leaning his weight on his sword that was now stabbed into the ground. The poison was kicking in.
He pulled Karasu back from his downed opponent and resealed it in his scroll. It took longer than he expected for the other to start reacting to the toxin. Perhaps it was a clan trait, or maybe he’d gone through poison resistance training. It didn’t really matter either way; Kisame would die and Sasori would never learn which was the case. After putting the scroll away, he reached into the kunai pouch he rarely touched for reasons other than maintenance. He removed a kunai and looked at his reflection in the polished blade. He wanted to kill his soulmate with his own hand.
Sasori approached him. Kisame had sweat lining his brow and his eyes were fading in and out of focus. He kicked his sword from his hand and out of his reach. It was telling how easy it was to do so. Sasori knew his strengths as a ninja and physical strength wasn’t one of them, especially when being compared to someone trained to handle one of the seven swords of the mist. When Kisame swapped to holding himself up on his hand, Sasori was reluctantly impressed at his stubbornness.
When Kisame lifted his attention from the ground to where Sasori was standing in front of him, he thought he was looking him in the eyes, but then he realized his gaze was resting slightly higher at his hair. He was looking at his red hair. “I’d tell you to take a picture, but you wouldn’t get the chance to look at it,” he taunted. Kisame’s eyes never left his hair as he heaved, “I thought… you said you didn’t… like… small talk.” Sasori didn’t deign that with a response.
It was time to end this. Or at least that’s what he told himself. For the first time in his life, he hesitated. He was fourteen and a seasoned shinobi feared amongst nations, he shouldn’t have hesitated. Soulmate or not, Kisame was a Kirigakure ninja and his enemy. He was a threat. He needed to die. But, as that beautiful blue color began to fade back to gray so did his resolve.
With gritted teeth, Sasori shoved the kunai back in its pouch and pulled out an antidote from the holster on his thigh. Doubting that he had the strength left to administer the shot himself, the redhead kneeled into Kisame’s personal space. Before the Hoshigaki’s confused expression fully formed on his face, Sasori stabbed the antidote into the arm opposite of the one his senbon pierced. Kisame flinched, but otherwise didn’t react, likely because he was too physically drained to.
Sasori stood up again and stepped away, fully prepared to pull one of his puppets out should the Kiri ninja attempt to kill him again. But he didn’t. Even as his body began slowly recovering, even as the blue of his skin and hair began returning, Kisame didn’t attack. He didn’t even reach for a weapon. He simply evened his breathing, wiped some of the sweat off his face and neck, and stood. When he opened his mouth to say something, Sasori interrupted whatever his thought might have been, “Consider yourself lucky and hope we never encounter each other again. Now get out of my sight!” Kisame’s mouth snapped shut. Sasori didn’t want to hear whatever the other wanted to say. In Sunagakure, it’s a great shame for a shinobi to show mercy towards anyone, especially an enemy. He didn’t care to know if his soulmate knew that. After giving Sasori a once over, eyes lingering on his hair a little longer than necessary, Kisame turned his back and left.
It was a stupid show of trust to show his back to another shinobi, but Sasori couldn’t bring himself to look down on the other like he might someone else. Once his opponent and soulmate disappeared into the forest, Sasori finally tore his gaze away. He walked up to the discarded sword left by Kisame. He leaned over and carefully picked it up. It was of high quality, being carefully crafted, and was well maintained. Swords were supposed to be important to their welders like puppets were to their puppeteers, but he also knew how the mass manufacturing of weapons necessary for war drained all art of value. A traitorous part of him wondered how Kisame felt about art, about weaponry, about war.
Sasori looked back at where he came. His village, hidden in the desert, was just beyond the horizon. The sky, made up of reds bleeding into dark blue, indicated it was dusk.
Sasori stepped out of his room without hiruko for a change. Since he only intended to greet whoever got suckered into joining the Akatsuki to comply with the leader’s orders, it would’ve been a waste of time to get into it when he was just gonna take it off again to continue updating its defenses anyways.
The first person he saw when he approached the main hall was Kakuzu, who seemed to be internally assessing the new recruit. Itachi was standing at the back and his expression was as unreadable as ever—something that never failed to get on Sasori’s nerves. Konan didn’t appear to be in the room, likely because she knew who the new member was long before he was introduced to the rest of them. Sasori didn’t care enough to question where Orochimaru or Zetsu might’ve been.
He rounded the corner to fully enter the room and fully paused at the sight of the familiar blue Hoshigaki that had been unwillingly plaguing his mind since they’d met. He looked different, having grown much taller and his features sharpening with age, but Sasori would never confuse him for someone else. The other also had one of the seven swords, Samehada, strapped to his back. Considering Sasori hadn’t heard anything about Fuguki dying in battle or of natural causes, he had a sneaking suspicion that his being in possession of it was related to why he was a rogue nin. When they locked eyes, he had never been more grateful for his artificial body’s ability to fully hide his emotions. He didn’t know what he’d do if a single one of his conflicting emotions were read by his soulmate. A fierce grin spread across the other’s face as he walked up to the redhead.
“We meet again, Sasori of the Red Sand.”
“So we have, Kisame.”

Sleepy Babies
Kakashi Hatake x NarutoMotherFigure!Reader
Synopsis: Ever since Obito died, Kakashi has been staying the night. It was for comfort, but as the years went on it blossomed into something more.
Naruto Masterlist: Here
A/n: this is pure hurt/comfort and NOT smut, especially in the first two parts, as they are children, and it's supposed to be sweet and innocent. Some kissing is mentioned in the parts where they are 18 or older. The timeline of this story starts when they are 11 (when Obito dies). And apparently, that timeline is messy in the Fandom, so I'm just going to act like Kakashi, and the reader is three years younger than Obito.
Ps: This fic ties in with most of my other Kakashi x NarutoMotherFigure fics (minus "Crawling Back to Me").

- 11 Years Old -
A knock sounded on your window, causing you to jump off your bed in excitement. Running to the window, you smiled brightly at the boy that slowly was becoming your bestest friend in the whole world. He slid up the window and started to step into the room, but you shushed him as he landed a little too hard. "You have to be quiet. I don't want my parents to know I'm sneaking friends in here."
He nodded at that before moving stealthily towards your bed.
You giggled as he sat cross-legged on the mattress, eyes wide as he took in your room. Usually, when he would sneak in, it was way past the time you had to have your lights off, but his thoughts had been growing darker earlier in the night. Therefore his arrival was slowly becoming earlier and earlier. You didn't mind, though.
Unbeknownst to you, your parents, being trained jounin, had already known of his presence and stood outside your room.
"Do you want to play a game?"
Your muffled words came through the door, causing your mother to smile softly. Your father stood along the wall behind her, huffing and puffing at the idea of letting such a thing happen.
"I don't like that she's having a boy staying the night-"
"It's nothing romantic... They both lost their friends, and they need comfort we can't give them," your mother argued back. She wished she could give you this comfort but years of being a Shinobi made her numb to death. Your father grew quiet, finally realizing that he, too, couldn't bring you comfort, couldn't calm your nightmares like a father should.
"Fine... But I still don't like it"
Your mother smiled softly at your father before leaning slightly to get a peek inside the room. You were pulling out a deck of cards, face bright as you started to shuffle them.
"Have you ever played "Go Fish?" Genma taught me how to play a couple of days ago!"
Kakashi shook his head at that. You talked a lot, but he had grown to like that about you. It allowed his brain to shut off. For the voices to stop. All he had to do was focus on you, and he would feel calm. He really enjoyed this time with you.
"Okay so here's how you play!"
Time passed, and your father had gone to bed, but your mother stayed put. After about an hour of playing, you had grown sleepy; it was usually at this time that you both fell asleep. "I'm sleepy, Kashi. Do you want to stay the night again?"
Kakashi nodded at that before standing up so you could make the bed.
You climbed in first, arms stretching over your head as you yawned. He climbed in after you but stayed far enough away so you didn't touch. But you still both lay in a way that had you facing each other. "I hope you have sweet dreams, Kakashi" you whispered as your eyelids began to droop. Kakashi nodded at this before wishing you the same.
Your mother sighed sadly as you two fell asleep. You two should have been having fun in your childhood, not seeking comfort from one another over the death of a comrade... Over a friend. "Are they asleep?"
Your mother nodded sadly at that, tears streaming down her cheeks as she began to regret their decision to put you in the academy so early on. "We shouldn't have done this-" your father's hand touching your mother's shoulder stopped her statement, for they both knew that this was meant to happen.
"If she weren't in the academy, she wouldn't be the rock Kakashi needs... And if he weren't in the academy, he wouldn't be the rock she needs... The world is cruel, and this line of work is cruel... But they have each other."
Your mother nodded at that before standing up from her spot on the ground. She still regretted putting you in the academy so early on.
But she was thankful you had Kakashi.
It continued that way, just the two of you. He'd come over around six, sometimes you'd sneak in some dinner, and by nine you were fast asleep. As the years went on, you grew closer and closer. You felt happy for once, and he felt the same way.
But it didn't last long.
- 14 Years Old -
A cry sounded out into the night, causing you to sigh in exasperation. You were so tired. Mentally, physically, and emotionally. You don't know why you said yes to the third Hokage, but the minute you saw the baby's little face, you knew you couldn't say no.
So now here you were. Depressed and taking care of a newborn all alone.
Well, not all alone.
"I got this one" Kakashi mumbled as he sat up in the bed. You simply nodded at that, not having the energy or will power to answer him. You looked over at the clock and sighed shakily. 1 AM... You laid down at 9 PM and have yet to fall asleep. You felt sick to your stomach, the death of your parents was really doing a number on you.
Your eyes drifted to the wall before you once again zoned out. It felt like ages had passed before Kakashi returned.
He entered the room again before quietly sighing at you curled up on the bed, eyes staring intently at the wall. He understood your pain, probably better than anyone else. You jumped lightly as he dragged his hand through your tangled and ratty hair, "How much sleep did you get?"
It was only then that you realized Naruto was no longer crying. It usually didn't take Kakashi long to soothe him... Looking back at the clock you realized that only a couple of minutes had passed. You didn't get much sleep, the fact that time felt like it was passing so slowly showed that. "I didn't fall asleep" you muttered as you cuddled into the pillow. Kakashi let out another sigh.
You hadn't been eating. Hadn't been sleeping. You rarely took a shower or got dressed for the day. He was worried about you.
He's been through this before, and he almost didn't make it out alive.
Kakashi motioned for you to scoot over and you did so reluctantly. He climbed in and moved closer to you. He lifted his hand but hesitated, if he did this, it could ruin everything. Deciding that your well being was more important than his worries, he wrapped his arm around you before dragging you into his embrace. Your mouth dropped in shock against his neck. For years the two of you had been inching closer and closer, but you didn't expect this to happen.
You weren't complaining though.
A sense of security overtook every one of your senses. All you felt now was love as if it was your mom herself hugging you. Tears fell down your cheeks as you cried into him, you didn't know if they were tears of joy or pain, but they felt good. "I got you. It's okay" Kakashi whispered as he cradled you close to him.
You both didn't know it, but this moment would be the one moment that changed everything.
- 18 Years Old -
The bed shifted, and you sighed as an arm wrapped around you. "One of these days, I'm going to stab you with a kunai accidentally," you grumbled. Kakashi's chuckle was soft, trying not to wake the four-year-old in the room over. You turned in his arms to be face to face with him, delighted to see his entire face. Something few saw. "How was the mission?" you whispered as your fingers played with the collar of his dark shirt. You chanced a glance at the area by the window.
The ANBU gear leaned against the wall, the mask looking back at you almost mockingly. It was rare for him not to stop at his house before coming by; the gear in your room told you a million things. He was tired. He was done.
And another piece of him was ripped away.
"Bad mission?"
He nodded before inching closer to you, encouraging you to hold him. That's all he wanted; he didn't want to discuss it. Didn't want to tell you the number of people that died—the number he killed.
Why did he kill that many anyway?
His chest tightened at the number flashing in his mind - 15. He killed 15 people. He brutally murdered them. Men. Women.
Children.
All in the name of the village. Kakashi felt his stomach churn as he looked away from you; you would think he was a monster. You had a right to believe such things. He was a monster—a cold-blooded monster who hid behind a mask.
"Hey," your soft voice pulled him out from that dark corner of his mind. His eyes flicked back up to your sweet ones. He expected to see disgust written all over your face; he always did.
And you always surprised him. For all you had on your face was pure love. He could kill a million people, and you'd still care for him. You'd still love him.
"It's just a mask. It's not who you are"
He heard you, he did, but he couldn't process the words. He couldn't process the pure love given to him. How could you even love a monster like him?
"Kashi. Come back to me"
Tears flew down his cheeks as he moved into your open arms. He fought back his sobs by snuggling his face into your neck, but you knew better than anyone the pain he was going through. "You're a good person Kakashi. And I will love you no matter what..." he nodded at your words, teeth biting his lip as he continued to push down his emotions. He curled into you and pulled himself deeper into your embrace. All he wanted to do was be held by you. The emotional and mental safety you gave him was something he couldn't live without.
You slowed your breathing, hoping it would encourage him to do the same. Kakashi sighed dreamily as your fingers ran sweetly through his hair, playing with it like you knew he liked it. Your fingers managed to snag pieces that had dried blood. Usually you wouldn't have allowed such a thing and would have made him take a shower first before climbing into bed.
But this was okay, he needed you, and that trumped everything.
His breathing evened out, causing you to sigh in relief as he finally fell asleep into what you hoped was a dreamless state. You turned your gaze once more to the ANBU gear. At first, you loved him being in the ANBU as it made you feel safe.
But not anymore, not at the cost of possibly losing him.
Your grip around him tightened as you started to drift off; he would most likely not be here in the morning when you woke up. Yet you had a sliver of hope that he'd be by your side when your eyes opened.
Or be making breakfast at least.
- 21 Years Old -
You shot up in bed, chest rising and falling quickly as you gasped for air. It felt like someone was choking you and holding you underwater at the same time. "Y/n?" Kakashi mumbled as he started to wake up beside you. Tears were already falling down your cheeks when he was fully awake. He tried to touch you, to bring you back to earth as you fought off the nightmare surrounding you. You were dreaming of the incident again.
Of him dying in your arms.
"Hey, what's going on" Kakashi's whisper only made it harder to breathe, and you once again shook your head and shot up from the bed. You needed air, needed water, needed space. You needed something you just didn't know what. Kakashi was close behind you as you swung your bedroom door open and fled to the front of the apartment. He opened his mouth to ask again what you were dreaming about, but he knew. It was the same one you'd been having for months now. It would start innocently, you and Obito playing and having fun. Then it morphed into something darker. The ending was always the same. Obito always ended up in your arms.
Dying.
But this time, it seemed like the ending was different. You took a sharp inhale as the cold night air shot through you, and finally, finally you began to come out of the haze the dream put you under. Kakashi leaned against the door frame, hesitant to touch you in case it would cause another breakdown. Slowly, you took in your surroundings. Everything was fine. It was indeed all a dream.
A strong arm wrapped around your shivering form. "Why don't we head inside?" Kakashi whispered as his lips pressed sweetly to your bare neck. You nodded at that, realizing it wasn't the village you lost.
It was him.
You turned in his arms. And your e/c eyes darkened as you gripped him tightly, "It was me this time wasn't it?"
You averted your gaze, embarrassed by your reaction to something as silly as a nightmare. He pulled you in closer before pressing a soft kiss to your nose. "I'm not going anywhere. I'm here with you. I will always be here with you" Your lip trembled at his words. Sure, he was no longer in the ANBU, but he was still going on missions. He had to. He was too important to the village.
But damn the village.
"Sometimes I hate this village for using you like a pawn" Your snarl caught him off guard. He looked down at where your fingers roughly pulled at the top of his shirt. Kakashi opened his mouth to interject and to make you take back the words, but you brushed past him before he had the chance.
- 26 Years Old -
As Naruto grew, the less and less you and Kakashi stayed the night together. But the incident with Naruto and Mizuki changed that.
You tossed and turned in your bed, legs moving as if trying to run somewhere. Kakashi brought his hand across the bed to cup your cheek as he scooted in closer to you. "It's okay. I won't let anyone hurt you two" His whisper somehow made it into your dream because you stopped thrashing around. Soft whimpers still fell from your lips before your eyes finally opened. Kakashi's Sharingan shone in the dark room, the redness of it calming every fiber in your being.
"I'm so scared of losing him Kakashi."
He nodded at that. Naruto was a target, they tried their best to keep him a secret, but the news was spreading fast. "No one's going to hurt either of you when I'm around."
You didn't say anything. Didn't need to say anything. He moved closer to press a kiss to your lips. It was sweet and soft, calm and reassuring.
It was everything you loved about him.
You gave him a sad smile as his thumb caressed your cheek lovingly, "I missed this. I missed you being beside me," you whispered. It was dumb to feel embarrassed. You had been doing this since you were 11, but it had grown into something more.
He meant more to you now. In ways, you could have never planned.
When you befriended that 11-year-old boy, you did so because you both shared a tragedy and could rely on one another for comfort. But as time went on, that friendship blossomed. Your eagerness to see him morphed into something akin to love.No no. It was love.
This was love.
"I love you," you breathed out shakily. You've said it a million times before to him, but this was different. This was real. You didn't just love him as a best friend. You loved everything about him. His lips curled up into a knowing smile before he once more pressed his lips against yours. Kakashi moved your body so that he was hovering over you, deepening the kiss that had once started out as sweet.
Both of you fought for dominance as the kiss got heavier. Before finally, he pulled away. Your eyes sparkled in the moonlight, and the way you were looking at him made him feel like the luckiest man in the world. "Guess what?" He started, causing you to lean in more in the hopes he'd say the words you wanted to hear the most.
"I love you more"

This wasn't supposed to happen.
This war should have ended before it started, but that could be wishful thinking. This was bound to happen, it was the fine print of your jobs. Perhaps you two were just too selfish and the universe noticed. Maybe these were your punishments for all the things you've done.
Maybe it was just a nightmare. A really long nightmare that neither of you could wake up from. Anything was better than real life at this moment, and you two were forced to watch each other. Forced to manage the pain each was going through.
This wasn't punishment. It was torture.
But let's start from the beginning.
Kishou Arima, CCG's Reaper. Despite his job being to kill ghouls, he was on their side. He even took up a secret identity to fight alongside ghouls. Something he's regretting in his current timeline.
Y/n, a newly turned ghoul. You were constantly afraid of what you could do to others who didn't deserve to be attacked. But you cared less about attacking people who deserved it but were still scared of fear of getting tortured by investigators.
Before we get into how you met, let's get deeper into your story.
You hung out with Ken Kaneki a lot, you both were baby ghouls. You gave each other a lot of strength, both constantly going through the shock and hatred of what's happened to yourselves. Unlike Kaneki, you didn't know when or who turned you into a ghoul, you just remember one day getting worrying thoughts and urges.
You and Kaneki met when he was on a mission to kill ghouls in the area. He had stumbled across you while you were curled into a ball, noticeably crying. When Kaneki reached out to touch the shaking person in front of him, you flinched away and looked up at him with frightened eyes. The way you looked at the time made
Kaneki feel like they were a victim attacked by a ghoul that got away.
This leads to a weird dynamic between the two. Kaneki would take care of you, while you constantly pushed him away. You didn't want to hurt the person keeping you safe and would rather Kaneki forgot about you and left. But Kaneki was too nice.
You tried to run away multiple times.
The moment you learned that Kaneki was an investigator, you feared the moment he would find out what you were. You didn't want Kaneki to hate you for never mentioning that you were a ghoul. Plus you were conflicted with yourself. You constantly cursed the universe for letting this happen to you and wished for someone to kill you, yet feared being killed by an investigator.
Maybe this was the first act of selfishness. They need to be alive but want to be dead.
Kaneki did find out about you being a ghoul of course. He again was on a mission. He had heard that there was a ghoul out of control, eating and attacking any humans they would see. Kaneki knew these to be signs of either a newly turned ghoul or a ghoul who fought against their urges. Kaneki always hated killing those types, but they were dangerous to the world, and they needed to die.
It was deja vu.
He went through an alleyway. He immediately recognized you. But he didn't focus on that long. He noticed a lot of blood on you and your clothes. It looked like you were dunked overhead with blood. Behind you, he saw a pile of bodies and instantly connected the dots. He hoped it wasn't what it looked like, but from the tears on your face and the flesh around your mouth, he knew you did this.
"Y/n.." The sad tone in his voice made the tears fall. You crouched down and started crying into your knees, the scene reminding him of when you first met. The gut-wrenching screams of regret and hatred were loud, causing even more hesitation in Kaneki. He understood why you two met the way you did. You were scared of yourself and crying. He understood you pushing him away, you were protecting him.
This one time. This one ghoul. You broke him. He could kill any ghoul without a second thought. But because he knew you, because he knew you weren't dangerous and that you didn't want to be, he couldn't kill you.
Kaneki walked to you and crouched down, engulfing you in the tightest hug that you could muster. He felt you immediately grab hold of him and cry harder. Maybe out of disbelief that he's hugging you. Kaneki's eyes were focusing hard on the dead bodies in front of him now that he was looking over your shoulder. The bodies ranged from kids to old people.
None of them were completely finished. Kaneki's hand went up to the back of your head and pushed you against his shoulder. He didn't know, but he could guess that you tried so hard to stop yourself from completely killing them, but the urges got the better of you. Kaneki looked at your still crying form, deciding that he could lie this one time.
After this event, Kaneki allowed you to meet the Kirishima siblings. He had explained to you that they helped him control his urges as much as possible because he was exactly like you, he didn't want to eat human flesh. Hearing that not only was Kaneki a ghoul, but he also used to be in the same position as you. This gave you the confidence to trust the Kirishima siblings.
It's been 15 years since.
Even though some people get over being a ghoul in a few years, you were just now getting to the point where you were okay with it. It's mainly due to the fact that you had to work through the trauma of the screams of kids and families. Every day, you were plagued with those images, finding it hard to move on when you took their lives just because you were hungry. You still have the guilt, but you've constantly been going to their graves and paying your respects. You were the colors and mask of a swan, but unlike the animal, you repelled others.
Maybe it was the uncertainty you gave everyone who didn't know you. Your uncertainty increased oddly enough, not because you were displeased with who you were, but because you didn't know what type of ghoul you were. Ayato Kirishima would constantly say that you're possibly a Ukaku like him, but there was no evidence to prove that.
Still, you trained just in case.
However, you and Kaneki stopped hanging around each other for some time. It was rare for you to see him and if you did, he would instantly leave. At first, you were completely confused as to why and no one wanted to tell you what was happening. But you ended up getting over it due to how busy you were getting as well.
You spent a lot of time with the Kirishima siblings, especially Touka, who you realized had a bit of a schoolgirl crush on Kaneki. She and you grew close due to your relationships with Kaneki and would always be found laughing together. On some days, you both would get together to mutually worry about Kaneki.
Today was the same thing.
You were helping Touka out at the Anetiku, a routine you were used to doing after training. You were a stand-in waitress, and currently, you served a middle-aged man and his teenager, your last customers. The teenager seemed to have a mixture of interests from what you could tell. They had hair that was split but in an oddly satisfying way. Their hair was black on one side but dyed multiple colors on the other.
Their clothes were the same. They had on black pants but a very colorful top. Their accessories were a mixture of black and colorful. You could tell that the teenager was going through a self-discovery of who they were and what they liked. Any time you went to their table for their orders, you would unconsciously catch some parts of their conversation.
Something you felt very guilty about and tried hard to block out so that you weren't imploring on a sensitive topic.
You caught sentences like "I don't know who I am yet", "Dad how did you make your transition from female to male confidently", and "I don't even know if I want to transition." You were able to work out that the teenager was transgender and was seeking reassurance from their father, who went through the same process.
You hoped that at the end of their journey, they would be happy with what they decided on who they should be. You went through the same process of accepting who you were and it wasn't easy, so you hoped they had a good support system. You knew the duo knew you heard their conversation, but since you showed no ignorant reaction, they felt comfortable.
When they two got up to leave, they gave you a smile. You smiled back, wishing that you could've done something in order to show how supportive you were but didn't want to be too pushy. Touka noticed the interaction and looked at you, her voice teasing despite the monotone. "You look like they offered for you to join their family."
The sentence caused you to immediately laugh. "Is that what that looked like?" You were laughing hard, amusing Touka with the wheezing escaping you. She lived to make you wheeze, and you always delivered.
"I hear wheezing, and I know it's not the teapot." You and Touka looked to the entrance and saw Kaneki walking in, a smile on his face. He was followed behind by another person. This person was completely covered. You couldn't even see a small amount of skin. The person was making sure that no one could identify who they were.
Your eyes went from the mysterious to Kaneki who was smiling at you. You rolled your eyes playfully, "The first thing you do is make fun of me after ten thousand years of not seeing you." Touka covered her smile with her hand, finding it amusing how you exaggerated sometimes. Touka walked to Kaneki and hugged him. The hug was awkward, only because they both liked each other but didn't want to mention it to one another.
You couldn't see Touka's face, but you could see Kaneki's, and the blush on his face amused you. You watched as they hugged, completely forgetting that they aren't alone. A sound came from the mysterious person that came with Kaneki. He had cleared his throat, feeling awkward about what he was forced to witness. Kaneki and Touka pushed each other away, unable to look each other in the eyes now.
You snorted automatically and immediately covered your nose, expecting Kaneki to mention it. He didn't disappoint. The moment the sound came from you, he looked at you with a teasing glint in his eyes. "You better not." "Better not what piggy?" You glared at Kaneki and he only shrugged, but you knew he wasn't done. Not with how he was smirking at you.
"Though, I'm surprised I didn't have to bribe you for you to oink for me like I usually do." The immediate laugh that sentence got out of you made Kaneki cocky. He knew how much you loved any mention of any inside jokes you have with each other.
This inside joke was made when you two were extremely sleep-deprived at three am but still hung out. You two didn't understand how y'all got there, but you two started to talk about turns on and turn-offs. The conversation led to both of you snorting out of laughter at the ridiculous things you were saying, but Kaneki took the award for the most outrageous sentences said. "Imagine if your partner asked you to oink for them because it turned them on."
Safe to say that it made your life so much better after that.
Kaneki walked behind the counter and hugged you quickly then let you go. You wanted to make a joke about him hugging you like he didn't want to, yet held on to Touka so much longer, but you knew that would make them awkward. So instead, you just pinched his side and focused on making sure that no other customers were getting ready to come in.
With Kaneki here, that meant he found something out.
Touka went to the bathroom and knocked, trying to see if someone was in there still. Since there weren't any sounds from the bathroom, Touka gave you a thumbs-up. You went to the door and locked it. You closed the blinds on one side of the room, while Touka closed the blinds on the other.
You two finished making sure no one could see or hear inside the cafe. Then you went to go sit at a booth, Touka going over to make drinks and food for everyone. Kaneki and his guest sat across from you, and while you three waited, the conversation started.
"Kishou-sama, you can take everything off now. You're safe here. No one is gonna report you." Kaneki addressed the man next to him and smiled. The person next to Kaneki started to remove his clothing. First, he started with his white gloves, revealing the bony but veiny hands he had. His fingers were long but elegant. After, the large, bulky coat he had on came off next. He had on a white coat, which you found weird because that makes him unnecessarily hot.
But now you could see the black shirt he had underneath the coat. Then the white scarf around his neck came off, revealing that the black shirt was actually a turtleneck. Then he moved on to the mask that completely covered his face. The moment he took it off you were surprised to see a face that you only saw in photos.
His hand went up to push his glasses up his nose as he got comfortable. He had put all the articles of clothing onto the ground, clearing up space for everyone to be comfortable. You didn't show a visual reaction, you felt it would've been rude if you did. Instead, you panicked in your head. You didn't understand why a well-known investigator was buddy-buddy with a ghoul.
His gray, visibly bored eyes landed on you. It was like he could sense that you were panicking. He showed no reaction, he just nodded his head in greeting and then looked back at Kaneki.
When Touka came back and put the drinks and food on the table and got settled in, the meeting started. Kaneki and Kishou explained the reason for their visit and how Touka and you needed to inform all the ghouls you possibly could. The CCG was planning an attack and everyone needed to be ready.
Maybe you should've known Kishou would become a prominent figure in your life after that.
Kaneki would start to come back around, he said he was getting ready for the amount of fighting there would be. You were unsure about that, still unsure of your ghoul type. Along with Kaneki, Kishou also started to come around a lot. He couldn't come as much as Kaneki because he couldn't let his identity be found out, but he still would.
His attitude towards you and Touka never changed. He stayed professional and distant. It was understandable though, he couldn't get close, and it could ruin everything he worked for. Touka started to tease you about Kishou though. Maybe your lingering gazes of fear could be seen as gazes of attraction.
It wasn't like Arima wasn't attractive, you were just too plagued with the fear that one day he's gonna kill everyone. No matter how many times Kaneki said "He regrets killing the ghouls he killed. He's on our side", you couldn't fully believe that.
But the universe was funny. It gives you something just to take it away.
Ayato had told you that he couldn't help you train one day. He was too busy trying to prepare with everyone in the Aogiri Tree. He needed to make sure that everything was okay, but he wouldn't allow you to train alone. He mentioned that someone would help you train, but didn't say who.
It was a good thing he didn't say. You wouldn't have gone if he did. You remember entering your training room and seeing Kishou sitting down. He was peaceful. When you got closer, you noticed that his eyes were closed. You looked towards the door, thinking of skipping out on training this one time, but he noticed.
"Oh. You're here." His smooth but cold voice made you scared. You watched as he stood up to his full height. "I was told to help train you. You don't know what kind of ghoul you are right? Kirishima said that you could be a Ukaku." You just nodded along, looking at the exit. You knew that you wouldn't make it if you run, but the thought was tempting.
Kishou started to take off his white coat, something you noticed he always wore. He folded it and put it on the ground neatly far from you. He started to roll up the sleeves of his turtle neck.
Was it too late to run? He looked as if he could easily take you out. But still, you reluctantly got ready to train. Usually, you were confident and aggressive, but now you were timid. Kishou knew it was because you feared him as an investigator, halfway through the training session, he stood up straight.
He let out a sigh. "We won't get anywhere if you continue to fear me. If I wanted to kill you, I would've already done it. But we don't have time for you to be acting like this. So, either get over your fear or live in fear and die."
You weren't mad. You weren't even sad. What he said was completely valid. You were putting yourself at risk of dying just because you fear him. Plus training with an actual investigator would teach you what you need to know. Instead of losing fear, you used your fear of him for good.
When you two started training again, he noticed how intense you were and could only nod his head in approval. He was better than you, but you were still learning a lot.
It became a ritual.
You two would train together since Ayato was constantly busy. Especially now that Kishou has revealed the name of the operation, Owl Suppression Operation, and the full details of what the operation was. You were getting no closer to discovering your ghoul identity. You showed constant frustration with this, even though everyone repeatedly said to be patient and to wait.
You just felt useless. Again, the universe is cruel. In your time of feeling like you were a burden, Kishou was there for you. He would enter Anteiku and awkwardly ask you to sit with him. At first, you would look at him weirdly and decline. It seemed that when you declined, he would let out a breath of relief and get up to leave.
By that, you knew he was set up by someone to give you company against his will. But the sight of him being happy to not deal with you rubbed you the wrong way, even though you knew he would act the same to everyone else. So, you started to accept his invitations.
You would instantly regret the decision once you two were surrounded by awkwardness. He was distantly cold, and you hated that. So after ten minutes, you would get up and go back to work. Every time, you saw how he would be less tensed up. Maybe he just genuinely hated interaction that couldn't be calculated or controlled by him.
But an odd thing started to happen.
His silent and distant company did wonders. You started to feel more comfortable with him. His behavior was a break from everyone constantly questioning you or reassuring you. He was content, well kind of, with letting you sit down and didn't bother bringing up anything you worried about.
Maybe this was where the universe noticed that it made a mistake. You didn't know when, or how, but you craved Kishou's company over anyone else's. Instead of him asking you to sit with him, you started to ask him to keep you company. Of course, it threw him off. He was surprised you wanted to stay around him, but he allowed it, deciding that it wasn't that bad. Plus your presence was barely there.
What a lie that was.
You started to talk. He remembers being deep in thought, wondering how the plan against the CCG would work when you started talking. "Kishou, when did you find out your type?" Kishou was caught off guard, but it didn't show. He looked at you, noticing how interested you were. He also knew this probably had something to do with ghoul types.
He cleared his throat, keeping eye contact with you. "I don't know. It just happened." He noticed how your head hit the table, making a thud. You groaned out in frustration, sick and tired of being uncertain. "I noticed that you were a swan mask usually. Shouldn't that help you figure out what you should possibly go for?" Your mouth opened in surprise. Why didn't you think of that?
"Kishou, you're a genius. Swans have wings, and Ukaku has wings. Is that why Ayato was always saying I would be an Ukaku?" His mouth lifted up into a tiny smile, amused that you were making what he said seem like it was philosophical. "How do I become an Ukaku?" "You can't control what you become, it just happens. Maybe that's why you haven't found out what you are. You've been trying too hard to do it yourself and not let the Rc cells do their job."
Something that would never change, is how much you hate that Kishou is almost never wrong. He never fails to give a realistic answer and make you realize that you're just being an idiot for never figuring it out yourself. You know he never means to do that, but he always gives such simple explanations and you curse yourself for struggling to figure that out.
Due to that, and the date of the operation getting closer and closer, you stopped focusing on your ghoul type and started focusing on other things. Like you staring at Kishou too long. Touka and Kaneki team up to tease you about it, but you can't help it. His hair oddly complimented his pale skin. It was entrancing to see and made him look ethereal.
Sometimes you wanted to see how he would look with his hair pushed back, but that was the only thing that really held your attention. His hair was pretty and that really was it, no matter what Touka and Kaneki said.
Kishou wasn't stupid. He noticed how you looked at him. But he also could read the signs, knowing you weren't attracted to him. So he just let you be. Though, he couldn't help but get a little happy whenever you celebrated getting a tiny victory over him. It surprisingly caused him a lot less stress than you being worried over anything.
Maybe Kishou only noticed your staring because he stared as well.
He found it interesting how you would make weird sounds whenever you laughed or when you lost balance due to laughing too hard. He was amused with your questions about him, sometimes the questioning not making sense. They varied from "Do you ever wonder if you're getting old? You know, with your hair being white." to "How come you have different Kagune's like Kaneki? Are you two related?"
It was weird how many times you asked about the connection between him and Kaneki. Your reason was mainly that they both had too many similarities. You would accuse them of being long-lost brothers despite them proving that they had no connection to each other.
That's when he should've realized.
He was so focused on everything and everyone else, that he couldn't see his own growing feelings. He should've noticed that his guard was being let down. He let out laughs and smiles more in your company, yet he didn't realize that. He got too caught up and realized when it was too late.
Maybe it was punishment for taking too long.
Soon you both started being weird. You would stop hanging around Kishou, finding it awkward. No, awkward isn't the right word, you found it rude. Kishou was helping you anytime he could, and here you were gaining feelings. Slowly, but surely. It was immediately noticed.
Ayato first noticed it, but only because you allowed him to. He remembers being at the Anteiku and eating when you suddenly sat down across from him. He saw how nervous and desperate you seemed and sighed, knowing you weren't gonna let him decline anything you asked. "Come back to training me please."
Ayato nodded instantly, which shocked you. He noticed the shock and only shrugged "I don't feel like hearing you constantly whine. But why do you want me to do it? You were perfectly fine with Arima weren't you?" He notice you flinch at the sound of the name and rolled his eyes. He knew what this meant. He had to deal with it when Kaneki first realized he liked Touka.
"I don't want to know." Ayato stood up, completely losing his appetite. He didn't need to or have to deal with any more people being into each other, but not making any moves.
You would've been hurt if he didn't just grant your wish. He could be grumpy all he wants, he gave you what you want.
The next person to realize what was happening was Touka. Every time Kaneki and Kishou would come into the cafe, suddenly you were ducked behind the counter and asking her not to expose you. There were multiple times when she almost did, but she was a good friend. Though as for revenge for making her hide you, she would find multiple reasons to say Kishou's name when you least expected it.
You would be taking orders and here comes Touka. She would whisper in your ear, making it seem like she's telling you something about the cafe in front of the customers but really she's just saying "Kishou was breathing earlier." Yes, she made sure that it never made sense. She just loved to see you in the same situation you made fun of her and Kaneki for.
Speaking of Kaneki, he didn't notice your behavior. Either he was too busy to notice or he was too focused on Touka. However, you guessed Touka revealed to him your steadily growing feelings for Kishou. At first, Kaneki didn't believe her, but he was instantly convinced.
There was another meeting being held, this time all of the Aogiri Tree members were present. The discussion was being held about any final adjustments to be made. However, Kaneki noticed how your eyes kept drifting to a highly focused Kishou. He watched as your eyes traveled from his hair to his hands, the process of getting there being stopped occasionally by you getting distracted by his other features.
However, he also noticed something no one else could see. He saw how Kishou was tense. He was always tense, but never this much. Kaneki instantly knew that Kishou knew that you were looking at him. But he didn't seem tense because he disliked it. Kishou was known for being honest and blunt about what he didn't like, and this would be no different.
Kaneki knew Kishou liked it enough to not tell you to stop. He could only smirk as he came up with a way to tease you. He didn't stall on that either. The moment the meeting was over and everyone went back to where they needed to go, Anteiku was filled with only you, Kaneki, Touka, and Ayato.
You were cleaning up the tables like you were supposed to while Touka threw away the trash. You two just automatically split the chores, something that was learned after months of the same routine. Kaneki didn't care though. He leaned against the table, much to your dismay. "Ken. Get off the table, I'm cleaning." You stuck your tongue out at him as you spoke, but he didn't automatically respond.
Usually, he gave you a witty remark, but he didn't, which worried you more than you cared to admit. Though that care instantly drained when he opened his mouth. "No matter how much you clean, your reflection won't change. It, unfortunately, can't capture the look of hopeless pining." You froze while you cleaned the table. You continued to stare at the table, seeing your reflection wasn't helping.
The Kirishima siblings lost interest in what they were doing and focused on you and Kaneki. This was the first time your noticeable feelings for Kishou were mentioned, and you were obviously taking it bad. "....What are you talking about?" Kaneki stood up straight, noticing your unmoving body. He had two options: poke fun at you or be a nice friend.
For once, he would choose the former.
"After all this time and years of poking fun of me and Touka. Calling it a schoolgirl crush. Now, here you are. Crushing on someone just like a schoolgirl crush." Ayato had covered his mouth, not wanting to let you hear him laughing at you. Your hands were clenched into fists. Kaneki was right. This was your karma for all that you've done.
You sighed, letting your eyes land on Kaneki. He saw the sadness and disbelief in you and could only sigh before patting your head. "Well I can tell you one thing, he's noticed but he doesn't hate it." That caught your attention, but Kaneki only started to walk away. "Wait! Hold on! Come back!" Kaneki only waved at you, leaving like he didn't just drop a bombshell on you.
Well, now you have a lot to think about.
Kishou was thinking a lot around this time as well. He was constantly working but wasn't focused. Something that everyone noticed but decided not to mention for fear of what he might say. His task, with Kaneki, was to sabotage anything that the CCG had prepared for the operation. Currently, he was unable to effectively do it, causing a lot of frustration in his partner in crime.
"Are you that emotionally constipated that you're struggling with your own?" Kishou looked over at Kaneki who was staring at him with a raised eyebrow. It was silent between them for a little, Kaneki realizing that Kishou barely understood anything. "Never mind." A big, dramatic sigh escaped Kaneki, but he went back to what he was doing.
Kishou followed suit, not entirely concerned with what was said. Though, he should've been. Maybe he could've stopped a disaster before it even started.
Kishou started to notice that he only ever trained with you now. He couldn't and didn't want to train with anyone else. He didn't understand why. He always gave the excuse of "Sorry, I need someone that's actually challenging" but that wasn't true about you. You were the weakest person he knew, and he didn't gain anything from training with you, but he still declined every invitation.
If you couldn't train, he wouldn't train at all. Kishou noticed this only when many CCG members started to complain openly that he was mocking them. He, of course, showed that he wasn't surprised by this information, but on the inside, it didn't make sense. Why did he train with you but no one else?
Kishou also noticed how he would occasionally look over your body. Before, he used to do it because he needed to asses what you should work on for the session. Now, he has no reason to, especially not in the middle of the session. Yet, he still does it and he knows you know because you would get awfully quiet and wouldn't look him in the eyes. Is he making you feel the way you make him feel when you stare at him? If so, why doesn't he hate that?
Why does he continue to do it, despite knowing how you're gonna react? He would subconsciously tell himself that it was because he enjoyed your reaction, but he wouldn't accept that. It was out of character for him. However, he knew that every time he did it, he would be smirking a little.
He remembers Ayato telling him to admit that he likes you to himself. Ayato sounded extremely tired of everything, and seemingly "Your unawareness that you like Y/n and their inability to completely accept that they like you is stressing me out more than preparations." was the main cause of it. Ayato had started to walk away after that, mumbling that he needed to sleep.
Kishou, weeks after that, continuously contemplated over if he really did like you. He thought he was exempt from experiencing romantic feelings. It was something he was okay with, but having romantic feelings was completely out of his expertise. Luckily, since preparations were coming to a close on both sides, Kishou had time to himself to think about everything.
He finally accepted the reality that he did have some sort of feelings for you, but there was no time for romance, especially on a battlefield. That's what he said, but he sang a different tune two days away from the start of a war.
He had visited the Aogiri Tree for the last time. He was walking around and getting details about any last-minute adjustments made. But his task was interrupted by the scream of his name. "KISHOU!" Kishou turned around and saw you running to him, smiling in absolute delight.
He liked your smile more than he could've thought. These feelings enhanced his attraction to you the more you did normal things like smile or speak. He was fed up with it, but didn't mind it. Kishou bowed at the people he was previously talking to and walked up to you to meet you halfway. Here he goes again, putting you above everyone else instantly.
You didn't stop running. Actually, you ran past him, but grabbed onto his arm and dragged him in the direction of your training room. "I have to show you something really cool!" Usually, he would protest getting pulled like this, but he allowed you.
Again, feelings were weird. Is this why people call it a weakness?
Kishou stayed silent and just accepted his fate. Once you got into the training room, you closed the door and started to push him away from you. Kishou didn't say anything, just watched. As he watched, he watched something incredible happen. Maybe it was just incredible because it was you.
He saw wings start to take form near your shoulders. His mouth dropped in shock. You were taking the form of an Ukaku right in front of his eyes with the happiest smile on your face. Once the wings fully formed, you two made eye contact and he could see happy tears start to form. His face shifted into one of pure happiness for you, his small smile meaning the world to you.
"It finally happened, huh? When did it?" He watched as you floated and spun around the room, gleefully laughing. He stood standing, watching as you finally enjoyed your ghoul identity. "It happened weeks ago, but you weren't here to see. Ayato's been teaching me how to fight as an Ukaku. I was running when I heard you were in the area and I needed to show you!"
Kishou watched as you got back onto the ground and your wings started to disappear. He didn't think anyone could pull off being an Ukaku as beautifully as you. 'But that's biased thinking.' He thought to himself. Kishou watched as your excitement rose again, but he wasn't ready for what you were gonna do.
You jumped onto him, hugging him tightly. He didn't stumble, but he was caught off guard. He just wrapped his arms around you confused and hugged back. You pulled away from the hug slightly and smiled at him, causing nerves to flow through him a little. "Thank you Kishou for telling me something extremely simple that actually helped me. Oh and also for training with me all those months."
Kishou only nodded. He couldn't focus on anything around him or what you were saying. Your eyes shone bright, happiness completely filling them. Your arms were around his neck, holding him like he truly saved your life. But what has his attention the most, was your lips that showed him smiles because he did something right.
Maybe it was okay for a little romance. He could indulge a little in his wants for once. Then after the fight, you two could talk about it more. But would you be okay with that? Ayato's words from weeks ago replay in his head, reminding him that you did in fact like him.
Maybe he should. He would regret it if he didn't.
Without even thinking, Kishou connected your lips. Your eyes widened from the sudden kiss but stayed wide due to the softness of how he was kissing you. Your eyes slowly closed, kissing him just as softly as he was kissing you. The kiss was delicate, representing the feelings you had for each other.
You pulled away from each other. His glasses were a little foggy, causing you to laugh. You took his glasses off his face and wiped them clean with your shirt. Before you put them on his face, you looked at him and admired his beauty without his glasses. For Kishou, all he could see was a blurry image, but he could feel that you were smiling at him.
His clear vision came back as you put them back on his face and your hands went down to his cheek, caressing him as gently as you kissed. The air around you two was a soft blanket of hope.
But that blanket would soon be ripped off of you, exposing you to the harsh and cold reality of the world. Because here you two were on the battlefield. He was appearing as the One-Eyed King, fighting against the most powerful CCG members while you were in the air, fighting against the weaker ones.
Everyone was fighting with their blood, sweat, and tears. Everyone would get back up after getting knocked down repeatedly. But the thunder that struck signaled a change in the war. At first, the ghouls had the upper hand. But then the CCG started to gain it.
All around you were the screams of excruciating pain. Ghouls were falling back to back. Sure the number of ghouls was overpowering, but the numbers were quickly falling. No one understood what was happening, and Kishou was also confused. But still, the fight continued, and the ghouls attack more ferociously than before. They mutually agreed that whatever was taking out the ghouls needed to be taken out fast.
You were fighting effectively in the air, the training with Ayato helping you out. But something went wrong. One of your wings got attacked, but instead of being unharmed, it completely disappeared. You let out a yelp, having only one wing barely keeping you in the air. But that wing also got attacked, disappearing like its pair.
You started falling, and fast.
Kishou was fighting but he kept an eye on you. When he saw you falling to the ground, he overpowered his opponent and ran to you, trying to catch you. It was wishful thinking. The world was too nice, it gave him multiple things in life, but he was sick of it. It now wanted to take instead.
He felt something thrust into his stomach. He looked down and saw a massive hole. He could feel himself start to change back. He looked back to see who attacked him and saw a smug-looking CCG member. The smugness of the member dissolved when Kishou was revealed to be the One-Eyed King. It was placed with betrayal. Kishou didn't have time to deal with this. He needed to catch you.
He just kept running to you. He caught you in his arms, you were curled up in fear. You opened your eyes and saw Kishou holding you and you smiled. He put you on your feet. He wanted to ask about your rings but for now, he would go back to the fight. He tried to change back into the One-Eyed King but he couldn't.
His eyebrows furrowed. But then he realized. The CCG was planning on making weapons that could cancel out a ghoul's RC cells, meaning they couldn't use their abilities anymore. They said it wouldn't get finished in time for this operation, so he stopped worrying about it.
He let his guard down. People were telling the truth feeling were a weakness.
"I can't believe Kishou Arima, our reaper, is on the side of the ghouls. This ghoul here, you care for them." Kishou glared at the CCG member. He could take him even without the RC cells. But what he didn't expect was to hear you scream. Kishou immediately turned around to see you on the ground. He saw that another CCG member had attacked you, making sure that you couldn't use your RC cells either.
He wanted to run towards the member who attacked you, but he was grabbed by another. They held him by his neck, and Kishou could've fought them off, but what he was told made him stop. "If you struggle, they die right in front of your eyes."
Yeah. Feelings and emotions were a weakness.
He was forced to watch you struggle to move, your body not used to not having any RC cells anymore. You were basically a normal human despite the ghoul trait to you. It was definitely causing you to have a small crisis. He saw someone step over him, noticing that the CCG member was smirking at him. They grabbed you by your chin and lifted your face up so that you and Kishou could see each other.
He saw the tears in your eyes, your body in more pain than he could imagine. Kishou was half-human, so his RC cells being taken wasn't a big deal, but it was different for you. "This is your punishment for being a two-faced rat." Kishou's eyes widened. They planned to kill you either way but wanted to take it slowly instead of having to speed it up.
Kishou immediately started struggling, much to the delight of the CCG member holding him. Kishou was wrong though. They weren't planning on killing just you. He found that out while struggling. It was easier to kill Kishou since he was still human. Getting rid of him now would mean they could get rid of a powerful force.
It was instant.
It was like nothing changed. Kishou starts gurgling. The blood was pooling up in his throat as it flowed out from the cut on his throat. He felt the grip of the CCG member loosen and he stumbled forward. He almost fell over while holding his hand to the cut.
He wondered how he looked to you. He wondered how scared and traumatized you were. But he didn't have to wonder, he heard you scream again. He instantly knew they attacked you for good. His vision was blurry, due to the fast blood loss, but he tried to reach out to you. He was dying, but he could save you couldn't he? He's done impossible things before.
He could save you with his last dying breath.
His body didn't agree. The moment he took one step, he immediately fell to the ground. His hearing was leaving him, but he could still hear the sounds of battle. What he couldn't hear was your breathing. They made sure to kill you quickly, but left him suffering. That's what he thought.
He felt a body next to his. He immediately knew it was you, but he couldn't see. He didn't even know how he got here. He must look ridiculous, he was bleeding out but all he cared for was you. He should've stuck to the fact that romance didn't work out. He put too many people in danger and with him losing himself but also you, he cursed himself for letting it get to this point.
You were looking up at the sky, or at least what you thought was the sky. Your hand was on what used to be a stomach, the CCG members had made sure to put a hole big enough through you. It was painful, but you would die faster. It felt weird, you were too used to feeling flesh, but there was nothing. Your eyes closed, and you lost your senses faster than Kishou. You didn't feel when he touched you or when he held your hand. Even he couldn't really feel it.
The universe was cruel, it gave and gave until it took. It took a massive chunk.
No one knew you two were dead on the ground. Everyone was too focused on the fighting. The ghouls felt a weird need to fight hard for some reason. Their fighting allowed them to win. The CCG members had started to retreat and the ghouls celebrated. But the celebration was cut short.
Kaneki, Touka, and Ayato went to go look for you. They wanted to congratulate you on overcoming everything you went through, but they soon realized it wasn't gonna happen.
The trio noticed you first. Kaneki had to cover his mouth so that he didn't throw up at the sight of your body. Touka wasn't bothered by how you looked, but tears were streaming down her face. Ayato wasn't as emotional as them. He was more curious about the person next to you. He crouched down and saw how Kishou looked.
It looked like he got the easier death, but he suffered by living longer than you. His eyes trailed down to your hands and sighed. The feelings you two held were finally accepted, yet accepted too late.
The war was won, but at what cost?
The next months after that, your funeral was being held. Kaneki cried loud and hard, he was on his knees the whole time and no one could lift him up. Touka cried into Ayato's arms, her emotions finally catching up to her. The rest of the ghouls mourned the loss of the One-Eyed King and Ayato? He cried with Touka, but he cried silently. After the service, you two were buried together. The reason being "They couldn't be together when alive, but they can be together eternally in death."
It's been years since you both died. Touka and Kaneki finally got together. Kaneki became the new One-Eyed King. Things were changing, but what never changed was the anniversary of your deaths and how every ghoul would mourn on that day.
Kaneki had decided to get new pets one day. He wanted cats since they could take care of themselves really without him being there. It would get lonely whenever he and Touka were doing separate things. They both spoke about how if the other isn't there, they started to think about you and Kishou.
So to cure that, pets were brought up, specifically cats. Kaneki had wanted to get cats from a shop, but he noticed two that were strays and that got his attention. One was an orange tabby, and the other was a completely white cat. He had brought them home, and even though Touka got angry, she allowed him to keep them as long as they were trained.
Kaneki quickly learned that the white cat didn't really care what happened. He's never seen the cat play with any of the cat toys bought and didn't respond to any affection. Yet, this exact same cat was always behind the orange tabby. It took a protective and possessive stance around the other cat and would hiss whenever Kaneki or Touka got close to the orange tabby.
With the cat's attitude, Kaneki and Touka settled on calling the white cat Ari, a shorter version of Arima. The cat reminded them of Kishou, and even though it brought some tough emotions, it made them happy. It felt like Kishou never left.
The orange tabby was a little shy around random humans, but once it warmed up to people, it would show exactly how chaotic it was. A couple of times, Touka saw the orange tabby run into multiple walls while trying to run away from Kaneki. Kaneki has caught the orange tabby playfully fighting with Ari, who never truly attempted to play with the other, but dealt with it.
Kaneki called the orange tabby Teapot, it reminded him of Y/n and one thing that Kaneki always remembered about Y/n is the teapot laugh they had.
So what if they both died? They obviously resurrected, and found each other again, but also found Kaneki again. That was something Kaneki would constantly tell him so many times, but it helped him grieve. It also didn't help that whenever he had that thought, the Ari and Teapot would come out of nowhere and stare at him.
They never left, and they would never leave.

I’ve kinda been thinking about this recently: what do you think obito thinks of Konoha as an institution?
I ask this because I’ve been reading some time travel fix it fanfics and, while I don’t think it’s necessarily ooc of him to return to konoha after the talk-no-jutsu in the fourth war (even as much as I would like for him to not go back) I do think that maybe with his understanding of how hidden villages work (shadow mizukage) and experiences with having control over his life and actions (not ignoring the slave seal, just it seems like the moon-eye plan worked at his pace not, say, zetsus. And by control over life and actions I mean his ability to act as an independent operator and decide where he was going to go what he was going to do etc. without the orders of a chain of command which definitely exist in konoha (at least we don’t really know how the other villages, like kiri, are run)) he might not be able to go back to konoha more rigid/controlled life - or at least not comfortably.
I don’t know how coherent that is but hope if nothing else it is interesting :)
oh obito is incredibly jaded about and detests the nations-wide institution of shinobi, konoha included, that's canon lol. to him it's a system that does little but churn out garbage-- him and kakashi both. though he's also incredibly fatalist about uh The World In General and not just shinobi... post talk-no-jutsu he does regain his like general faith in humanity though yeah. his parting words were essentially a desire for kakashi and naruto to take charge of konoha and change the system in his place, at least that's how i read his desire to see kakashi take up his old dream as hokage...? its complicated bc a lot of shit happened at once and also he was dying but i think he has faith that at least the people he believes in can improve the world they live in...? the antithesis of his previous wish to completely destroy the current world.
granted, i need to reread fourth war arc and take notes or something, the nuances of obitos Thing right there are probably escaping me rn.
(also, like, the slave seal was a deterrent obito wasn't even supposed to know about, so while in TRUTH he never had any other choice except walking the path of madara in practical reality he was directing his own movements and doing his mastermind shit without input from anyone else except himself, really, so yeah he's used to uhm a degree of independence lol. zetsu doesn't seem to care unless he went off the rails which he didn't.)
ANYWAY. ANYWAY. if we are to take "time travel fix it" into account, like, the peggy sue "wake up in own body from the past" it really depends on where in the timeline he landed...? i don't think he'd be fucking pleased to be taking orders from konoha again regardless (though of course hes aware theres a lot of things he needs to make amends for personally and even deeper down he wishes he'd never "left" for a plethora of reasons) but if hes in his twenties again or whatever imo he is absolutely not going back there and will probably start Conniving(tm) outside of konoha's borders to benefit his friends in the capacity hes capable of and clean up his own messes and if he's like, twelve years old again (nightmare) i can... hmm, see him sticking around, unless he really gets pushed over the edge abt smth, maybe? its hmmm i don't think he actually hates minato but i fail to see much evidence he'd feel comfortable ever properly trusting the guy for the ways minato betrayed his trust and the way obito betrayed his. idk... obito has priorities (his friends) and he's a scheming schemer who schemes so hed wriggle into the position that best let him do what he wants. i think. take that as you will.
but yeah! obitos interesting to think about i really need to go back and actually take notes.

If I knew death was gonna be a bad acid trip, I never would have bought that gun, I thought dryly. My brows furrowed as I began to recall what were supposed to have been my final moments. I had just finished writing a note for my family. I had clutched a pistol in my sweaty palms, convinced that this was the only choice I had left, and then… I should be dead. Local depressed transboy commits death and gets punted face-first into an isekai nightmare, and maybe rediscovers the will to live along the way.

...Sooo...about that RWBY Volume 9 Teaser Trailer...
I will make the same comments as I did over on Twitter. From an artistic standpoint, V9 looks stunning---possibly the most visually breathtaking RWBY will ever look!
And as a budding 3D artist, I am genuinely excited for that aspect of the season alone mainly because I'm a fan of all the visual development behind RWBY and I cannot wait to see all the hard work the CRWBY put into bringing this season to life. It's all looking super great from the trailer so far.
However…from a story perspective, I don't know how I should feel about V9.
To me, it doesn't feel like an "official" season of RWBY. It feels like filler.
For those of you who used to watch animes like Bleach or Naruto like moi, RWBY V9 feels more like a filler season because despite continuing from the end of V8, it sounds more like its own self-contained storyline that is a part of the main story but is also disconnected from it at the same time? If that makes sense.
I feel like we're gonna end up with an Alice in Wonderland type deal where by the end of it, even when RWBY (and co) return to the Remnant, will they remember their time in the Ever After?
Or will it all feel like one big dream/nightmare they all shared together that greatly impacted them in some way but ultimately doesn't affect the overall story---y'know the one with Salem?
Maybe I'm putting way too much thought into this but I guess what I'm trying to say here is V9 doesn't feel like a traditional season of RWBY.
It sounds like a pit stop or minor detour and at this point in the main storyline with Salem, I don't understand why the showrunners would choose to do this now?
It doesn't even feel like we'll see get to see what happened with Oscar and the others during the aftermath of the Fall of Atlas in the deserts of Vacuo.
Dude, for all we know, V9 could end with RWBY getting zero help from their friends from the other side and just return home to Remnant (through some other out of nowhere magical means) right at the point where the others were fighting to fend the refugees from Atlas in the desert.
Like the whole adventure of V9 takes place in a short space of time between the Ever After and Remnant; y'know like how they had all the events of V8 take place in the span of 2 days in Remnant timeline.
Who's to say V9 won't be the same?
Imagine if…all of us who were hoping for a time skip get bamboozled yet again when RWBY return home from the Ever After and not even a minute of time has passed between their fall into the Ever After and them leaving Atlas for Vacuo because it's literally the same day---the exact moment they fell.
So their friends don't even have a minute to grieve their "deaths" because they came back immediately like they never even left at all.
I'm not saying this will be the case with the season. This is all just speculation from me at this point.
Regardless, I don't know how to feel about V9's "story". I mean…I am curious to see what this season will do for Ruby. She's been in need of proper development for a long, long, LONG while and V8 did not do her justice.
But outside of that, I dunno.
My overall feelings about V9 are more mixed up than a bowl of trail mix.
I guess I'll only know when 2023 arrives.
I will say this though. I do like (Stuart) Little though.
Tumblr media
We never got a Jack Pumpkinhead character in RWBY (which still displeases me) but (Stuart) Little will have to do, I suppose.
For what it's worth, I really, really hope that (Stuart) Little will stay with RWBY even after their adventures in the Ever After.
I would LOVE to see every one else' reactions to a talking mouse back home. That would be hilarious.

Artemis during the years! ^^
[Disclaimer! These pictures are made in Picrew, with the simple intention of coming up with the character's design. Therefore, the art is not mine! All credit goes to their rightful owners!]
Tumblr media
Picture 1: Present timeline! Artemis is only a 9 year old child, having the (unfortunate) luck to be born in Nightmare's castle. She is the youngest of the Killermare children (Crescent, Angst and Merciless), and the most innocent and sweet child you will ever come across! <3
As you can see, she inherited most things from Killer (eyes, his energy, the love for cats, and quite the delinquent too)
She often tries to get on Nightmare's good side by giving him small, hand-made gifts, such as flower crowns. She does love her father and wants attention from him, to the point she thinks running away from the castle will accomplish something.
She is currently being trained by the Murder Trio and her siblings, and is a fast learner. She knows a few useful tricks with her magic, and can be swift and quick with a knife. Her weapon of choice is a knife, a spear or a scythe. Though..since she has difficulty picking up a bigger scythe, she uses a miniature version of a scythe Killer gifted her.
On missions, she is often accompanied by Killer or Crescent alone.
She also has a great singing voice, and a small kitten she named Cottonpuff, or Cotton <3
"I want to be queen one day! I am not afraid of any enemy!"
Voice claim: https://youtu.be/lwV5lgXpozo
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Picture 2: Future timeline. Here Artemis is 17 years old. Over the years she has been more mature, yet distant towards almost everyone, introverted and refusing to open up about the slightest thing. That sweet girl can't be truly gone forever, can she..?
She..seems to have deep hatred towards Nightmare. Rightfully so, why love a father that has been neglecting his children for years?
Ah, don't worry. She is still a delinquent. She will do things to spite Nightmare the most, simply for fun. She never even shows her full potential.
Everytime it rains, she won't hesitate to go outside, with or without an umbrella.
"Oh why bother? It's not like he will recognize me for my success, is he? Let's play the weak and meek for a while.."
Voice Claim: https://youtu.be/FrVTVQa5NP0
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Picture 3: Perhaps..an AU? Age 25. What a drastic change. In this AU, Nightmare is trapped within his daughter, like Kurama is sealed within Naruto. Artemis couldn't really kill him, and even if she knew how, there still was the balance that needed to be kept. So what did she do? With a spell, she sealed her father and allll his hatred and negativity inside her soul. She has to recite a spell every once a full moon to keep Nightmare still sealed, and in no way must she be interrupted. Thus, she became the new guardian of negativity, earned a huge energy boost and a new look along with a total of nine tentacles, and took her father's throne.
Of course, the amount of negative energy made her extremely sick, at first. Until she learned how to handle it better.
Nightmare's anger, however, is..a burning feeling. Especially when he knows now he can't escape her. Every chance he can get, he tries to manipulate her in any way he can think of in order to get her to remove the seal and let him escape. Sometimes acting nice, sometimes being completely deranged. Of course, Artemis never removed the seal, angering him even more. Nightmare vowed he would kill her brutally the moment he escaped.
Crescent and Angst chose to stay in the castle with Artemis. Merciless left the moment he found out Nightmare was gone. None ever heard of him since.
She still goes out when it rains. She doesn't care if she gets a cold.
Artemis remained good. She recognized her servants for their work as she should, and did not meddle around with innocent lives. She even chose to make a truce with Dream. But the profile her father had built made people think she was a monstrosity as well, which..spites her.
She only feeds on children's nightmares and general negative feelings so Nightmare won't grow weak. She will not make someone suffer just for negativity like he did.
The perfect daughter, don't cha think?
"Hm? Oh, you brought me what I asked for. Thank you, I appreciate you took a bit of your time for my needs"
Voice claim is the same one as in Picture 2 <3
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Artemis is a Killermare child made by me.
Killer, Nightmare, Merciless, Angst and Crescent all belong to their respective creators.

Sandman ep 3+4 impressions - Joanna Constantine was surprisingly cooperative. When she pointedly told Morpheus to fuck off and only cared about her job I thought we’d spend the whole episode playing bullshit game to get her to help, but she actually didn’t mind lending him a hand, which was a breath of fresh air after the first ep where 90% of people involved refused to compromise whatsoever. Granted she only wanted to get rid of the nightmare and did try to slip away, but overall that went well enough. - Matthew my dude, the reason why she got away was because you distracted Morpheus! Speaking of which, Matthew was a human who died and the next thing he knew, he was a raven. Dude sure took it in stride, just shrugged it off and went on with his new job. - Poor Rachel falling in love with the wrong person and suffered terribly for it. Still, 6 months and no one went to check on her?? Where the heck were her friends and family?! - Now I know why Morpheus was stuck in the basement for a decade, it has been 10000 years and he still hasn’t forgiven Nada, dude’s just petty as fuck. Then again Gods and the Divines in mythologies are rarely known for being forgiving lol. Really curious what happened between them though. - Morpheus owe both Lucienne and Matthew a heartfelt thank for looking after his ass. - I thought Morpheus was going to get his ass kicked by Lucifer, but then they started playing a game of who is stronger Naruto vs Goku... - I feel like I missed something with the “hope” one, wouldn’t despair kill hope? Or did that not count because Despair is his sibling? Why did Lucifer look so shaken? I didn’t quite get that part. - I have seen Neil Gaiman hyped up Lucifer’s casting a lot, so I was looking forward to Lucifer’s performance but honestly I was disappointed. First of all the hairstyle they chose for her fucking sucked, her face was already so round and soft, so that puffy curly hair just made her look like a Karen. She didn’t look ethereal and threatening at all, she looked like a childish middle-aged woman ready to throw a tantrum. The only thing I liked about her was her height, I liked how they used the camera angle to show her dwarfing over Morpheus, that was cool. Also her outfits were dope. - Rosemary my dear, showing too much kindness to the wrong person will only result in disaster. That amulet John gave you, please for the love of all good thing in the world, throw it into a fucking lake or something. That will only cause trouble, you don’t want to accidentally have some people fucking explode while defending yourself. At least she’s alive though, god I was afraid she was gonna die. - Ethel was a great character, I feel conflicted about her. She genuinely loved her son but she was also a terrible mother, she accidentally created a monster and didn’t know how to deal with it. - If I understood it right, Ethel was 116 years old when she died, she had John when she was fairly young, like when she was 20-ish? So John must be around 90 years old? Wait that doesn’t feel right, he’s too mobile and clear-minded for a 90 years old. He seems more like 70-ish to me. But let’s say he’s 90yrs old and was kept fairly young because of magic or whatever, he said he had been locked up for 30 years. So he stole the ruby and made a mess at... 60 yrs old...? Like really? Rebellion at the retire age...? - The timeline is kinda fucked, like Morpheus said he was imprisoned for a decade, but Alex already looked like 8-9 yrs old when Morpheus got caught. How the fuck did both Alex and Paul come to be in such great shape at like 110 years old?? As far as I know they had no magic shit lying around because Ethel stole them already, and Alex wasn’t really taught magic by his father. So what the heck? It’s especially confusing when you consider how Alex wasn’t that much younger than Ethel. He was already like a late teenager when they met, and Ethel was like only a few years older than him. Without the Amulet of Protection, Ethel crumbled to death, but Alex was healthy enough to be able to stand and walk a little by himself. The characters’ age is kind of a fuckery. I should have paid more attention to the date but I’m also not sure if that would helped lol.

About Me/Kin List for Mobile Users
Name: Stiles
Age: 23
Pronouns: He/Him
More Information about me including my kin list will be below the cut.
Hey, so I guess this is a bit about me. I put some basic info up top but here I’ll get a bit more in-depth. I try to be an open book. I have multiple disorders which I’ll list, keep these in mind if you decide to chat with me. I have ADHD, Agoraphobia, Anxiety (Social and Generalized), Borderline Personality Disorder, Delusion Disorder, DID, Insomnia, OCD, PTSD, and Nightmare Disorder. Due to this I struggle with paranoia sometimes and am not only kin but some are also IRLs and I have Alters due to the delusion disorder and DID. Anyways that enough of that information.
Other than that I enjoy playing games, writing, roleplaying stuff, and just meeting people. I’m into a lot of different sources so I’m sure we can find something to talk about, don’t hesitate to chat.
Please tag sinking ships.
Here is a small list of my IRLS, please do not call them Delusional Attachments or try to reality check me, it will be an instant block and is really distressing. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT IRLS ARE ALSO KINS FOR ME. They are kins that my mental illness latched onto and amplified in a way where I have episodes. Also, I don’t mind meeting people are kin them or anything like that. Also, I consider them to be both irls and kins. (Putting it twice because some don't listen.)

Here is my kin list, doubles are okay unless bold with a star. This will be sorted by source! Please keep in mind that I kin spiritually using the multiple timeline explanation. I have also known about kin for over 6 years so I have a large list.
Just because I kin a character does not mean that I chose to kin them nor condone their actions in source or my canon.

As one of the only writers I know of who write Akatsuki centric fics (all of which are amazing btw), do you know why there's so little content for them?? They're like the best part of Shippuden imo, and there's a lot that can be done with both their backstories and personalities. It's so strange that there's like only a couple dozen stories that really focus on them, and maybe a handful are actually good.
This is a question I see bemoaned in Naruto fandom spaces periodically. I don't actually think there's a dearth of Akatsuki content in an absolute sense, but if you control for how many Naruto fics are out there and how popular the Akatsuki are as characters, then I agree there is a mismatch in amount of content people would be interested in reading and what content is actually out there. The market is not saturated, so to speak. Here's me rambling in a disorganized fashion about why that might be:
It's actually very difficult to wrestle the entire Akatsuki into a fic that takes itself seriously. Individual members or partners? Sure. You can make a completely serious fic about any of them. But as a group they're all so different in the type of chaos they cause, and they all have such naturally conflicting personalities and almost none of them have shared backgrounds... like, I do really think they just naturally devolve into a crack fic if you get more than like three together into a room. You can definitely do a "crack treated seriously" and keep everyone IC, but I also think you then lose a lot of writers/readers who want something more serious.
A lot of Akatsuki fics are "new comer added to the group," which is usually "child character adopted by Akatsuki" or "usually female character joins (or adopts them as cats for some reason) and there's almost always a romance." A lot of people don't actually like these types of stories, so they think there's less content than there actually is.
Akatsuki is a very large ensemble and it's hard to figure out a story that encompass the whole group and then juggle that many characters. "Hard" as in just writing that many distinct characters is difficult, and coming up with a plot for them takes a lot of creativity. Not saying fic writers aren't creative, but usually we do feel "safer" rehashing the same skeletons of stories over and over.
Individual Akatsuki members either have basically no background story (Deidara, Hidan); have a background story that is hard to connect them to other cast members (how are you going to get Kisame or Sasori or Kakuzu to interact the plot in a way that's different from what they do in canon, when most of the plot is based in Konoha?); or a background story that's confusing and hard to reconcile (everything Obito has touched). Yes, most fans will say they'd be interested in reading original concepts for, eg, Deidara's backstory in Iwa, but actually developing that and then communicating it takes a lot of effort and is going to involve OCs and other stuff that are considered "risky" in ficland. You can draw on Kisame's interaction with Itachi or Kakuzu's beef with Hashirama to get them more involved with the main cast, but it's going to necessitate a lot more creativity and work than just writing about Team 7. Or you can just write an AU, but I think people tend to shy away from deeply AU content because it's a little harder than just drawing from canon AND due to preferences in both readers and writers for stuff that's more canon-adjacent. Finally, I do think there aren't many fics focusing on Itachi or Orochimaru relative to how well-liked they are by fandom, because they are.... difficult to write, to be blunt. Like they just are. They have complicated and often conflicting motives, their backgrounds have been retconned so many times figuring out a timeline is hard, they're both super powerful genius so it's hard to figure out a plot that would actually challenge them, and overall writing them is a nightmare.
Okay, so I think those are the main challenges to creating Akatsuki fic. All that being said, here are some types of fics we should definitely be making more of:
Alternative Akatsuki rosters. Yes, I know there's hundreds of Sakura/OC-joins-Akatsuki fics (and apparently there are a lot of Akatsuki!Naruto fics?) but I think we should be exploring other characters. PLEASE give me Akatsuki!Tsunade. Please? Please. I also think the Kiri civil war could have played out differently and led to Mei joining (or Zabuza and Haku, if you like them), and I continue to be mad there's no Akatsuki!Karin fic.
.....although ngl, I would be okay with just more Akatsuki!Sakura fic. I feel like people have been writing it less recently except as reverse harem fic (which is FINE i just also want plot).
More borderline crack plots where they have to save the world because they all time traveled or something.
I want more soulmate AUs where a poor Konoha denizen has to deal with their soulmate being the worst person on earth. :( Yes, there are a few of these, but I want more.
More Akatsuki members as mentor fics. Not like "group adopts child" but more like, "character draft-dodged Akatsuki and somehow ends up with young mentee they're invested in"
More fics where an Akatsuki individual/pair has to temporarily form an alliance with another cast member to Solve A Problem
More fics about just like... Akatsuki missions gone wrong. Did they ever have to go undercover for something dumb? Did anyone just super screw up once? What happened to Kakuzu's pre-Hidan partners?
There used to be fics about Deidara being a secret Namikaze and/or Yamanaka and I would like more. I just think they're neat. Make Deidara Tsunade's secret love child bc they're both blonde, I don't care
Tell me about the Akatsuki chore chart

Naruto’s Mother Figure! Reader x Kakashi Pt. 2
It’s heeeerreeee. The time has come. I love this part sooo much im like cryin’ mostly fluff between u and Naru, and relationship building between you and Kakashi. Also a scene where some bitches say some nasty shit about ur son, but don’t worry, u take care of it 🥴
Mild hints of NSFW at the end because I can’t helllppp myselffff. I also would like to add in that reader is Kakashi’s age, or maybe even a year younger. Which quite literally means that at one point, she was a CHILD raising a baby. She’s a bad bitch. I don’t take criticism.
Also just wanna say that we are loosely following the anime/manga. The whole timeline is just efed. That being said, pls don’t come for me if I get something wrong in this series. I’m just a horny bitch who is trying her best lmao.
See u in the next paarrtt 🤪
Tumblr media
The days went by fast, and repetitive, you had finally fallen back into some sort of schedule after the nightmare that was the Chuunin exams: wake Naruto up, feed him, walk with him to training, avoid Kakashi, go to work, stop at the store, avoid Kakashi, take groceries home, pick up Naruto, walk with him to get ramen, avoid Kakashi, go home, go to sleep, and then repeat. You saw him everywhere now, and something had to give! You sleep with your son’s teacher once, and now he’s just everywhere you go? There was no way! Naruto could sense something was wrong. It was his superpower, and you hated that he knew you so well.
This all leads you to where you are now, walking Naruto to his training. He isn’t wandering in front of you like normal though, he’s matching you pace for pace, and you can feel his stare on the side of your head. You turn, leering down at him, “Something you want to say?” Naruto matched your face, leering up at you, “Something you want to say?” You huffed at him, the little brat, “No.” His gaze stayed on the side of your face before he gave up, “Fine. Be like that then.” You scowled down at him, “Watch the attitude, trouble.” Sheepishly, he rubbed the back of his neck, “Sorry, ma.” You didn’t say anything else to him, you both just continued your trek to the training grounds.
_______________
When you got there, the first thing you did was look around to make sure Kakashi wasn’t in sight, did Naruto notice? Of course he did, “Ma.. what are you looking for?” You stiffen, “Nothing.” You knew you shouldn’t play him off in the way you were, he knew of your distaste for Kakashi, so you should use that. On the other hand, did you even have a distaste for Kakashi anymore? You figured you didn’t know. You hadn’t spoken to him since you were on his dick, and your brain was a little foggy. Either way, you figured it was time for you to leave, and you leaned to press a sweet kiss to the crown of Naruto’s head, “I’ll see you later.” He nodded, hands reaching up to wrap around you, “Okay.”
You blanched at the sound of Kakashi’s voice breaking through the clearing, and as much as you wanted to shove Naruto off of you, and make a quick escape, you couldn’t bring yourself to. You could feel Kakashi’s gaze burning through you as you gratefully returned Naruto’s bear hug, but you didn’t turn to look at him. You could hear him speaking to Sakura and Sasuke, and then he spoke in your direction, “Are you going to come train today? Or are you just going to hug her forever?” His words were pointed towards Naruto, and you could hear the smug tone of his voice, suddenly, you were fighting the urge to slap him silly. Slowly, you pulled back, whispering another ‘goodbye’, this time though, you made direct eye contact with Kakashi. It seemed to turn into some weird sort of staring contest, and you felt like a small child, but you weren’t going to lose, and you didn’t. Kakashi’s gaze snapped away from you, and you grinned to yourself smugly. If you were more in tune to your senses, maybe you would have noticed the light pink that had dusted over his uncovered cheek.
______________
As you made your way home from work, you couldn’t help the slump of relief in your shoulders. Your day was a nightmare, and you couldn’t wait to just be at home, with Naruto. Of course, you had to stop at the store first. These were the moments that you wished you would just buy things in bulk, but you had found with there just being two of you, and with Naruto wanting to eat ramen everyday, things just went to waste like that.
You stepped into the shop, first grabbing a basket, and then stopping to wave at the cashier. You should remember her name, you see her everyday, but you are drawing a blank. You don’t dwell on it, and hastily turn to pick up what you need. Eggs for breakfast, a small carton of milk, snacks for Naruto’s lunch, snacks for your lunch. It doesn’t take long, and as you hurry towards the counter, your shoulders tense. He really is everywhere. You snuff in his direction, and begin to unload your basket on the counter.
You’re so close to freedom you can taste it. The cashier has finished bagging your items, and you reach behind you to feel for the small change purse you keep on your waist. Your hand swipes nothing, and you can feel the frustration building against the back of your throat. You’re joking. You had to have left it somewhere. Before you can speak, Kakashi’s smooth voice calls out from next to you, “I can pay for it.” You’re spine stiffens again, and as much as you want to tell him to go shove it, reason wins the fight. You agree, but not before promising to pay every cent back. You look away from his watchful eye, arms crossing over your chest.
You feel a tad bit of shame, having an almost stranger pay so that you and your son will be able to eat, but the feeling passes at the sound of two young shinobi chattering behind you, “I saw him today, that.. that monster. They just let him wander around the village like that thing isn’t hiding inside him.” Your head spins around quick enough to give Kakashi whiplash, and he notices the red rage that’s blooming from your throat before the other shinobi do. You stop breifly to grab a newspaper, and he wonders exactly what you plan on doing with it. His hand reaches out to grab you, but he’s too late. You’ve already let loose on them, your hands moving to roll up the newspaper, “Are you talking about Naruto? Naruto Uzumaki?”
They answer hesitantly, followed by a, “What does it matter?” You move a step closer to them, and if Kakashi remembers correctly, you’re wearing the same facial expression you were when you slapped him hard enough to make his ears ring, “Naruto Uzumaki is my son.” Kakashi watches as the shinobi blanch, and slowly begin to realize their mistake. It’s comical almost, the way you, a civilian, have scared these grown men, who are ninja, into submission with just a newspaper and your rage. Kakashi watches from the side as you slap the one that had spoken with the bunched up newspaper. He thinks breifly about stopping you, but decides against it. He’d been at the epicenter of your anger once, and he wouldn’t like to be again, not so soon anyways.
______________
You don’t tell Naruto about what happened at the store. He doesn’t need to know about either instance, and when you follow him into his room to say goodnight, you confess that you’re going to leave for a few moments to take something to a friend. Naruto picks up on the dislike on your features, and he can’t help the smile. You, of course, notice it as well. The sight causes you to mirror his grin, “What?” He laughs, pulling his blankets higher, and his grin is suddenly replaced with a sly look, “Tell Kakashi-Sensei I said ‘good night’.”
Your mouth falls open, the little shit! You gasp out a, “Naruto!” And then you watch as he breaks into laughter, “You’re too obvious, ma! Everyone in the village knows!” You hum at him, “Whatever you say, trouble.” He sits up, making it easier for you to kiss his forehead, “I like him. I mean he’s always late, and he’s always reading that… book. But he’s a good teacher, ma.. he really is.” You press another sweet kiss to Naruto’s forehead, “I know he is.”
You leave soon after, making your way to Kakashi’s apartment. As you stand at his door, and begin knock, the last time you were here breaks through the corner of your mind you’d shoved it in. Your body flushes with arousal, and you shift on your feet. Kakashi opens the door, and you take a moment to admire the smooth muscle of his bicep in his tank top. He seems to be questioning exactly what you are doing here, and when he clears his throat you pull your gaze back up to his face.
You pull the money out of your change purse, and hold it out to him, “I…” you find yourself straining, “just…” Kakashi cuts you off this time, “Don’t hurt yourself.” You choke on a laugh, hand reaching out further to push the money closer to him, “Thank you.. for earlier.” When his fingers brush against yours, your brain lights up with need. And you find yourself wanting to move closer to him, but you don’t. Instead, he moves closer to you.
His hand touches your hip first, and he tugs you closer until your standing in his door way. Your hand catches the wrist of that hand that’s resting against your waist, and your breathing hitches when he tugs his mask down. Your insides are screaming, begging for him to just do it. You don’t think you’d ever wanted anything more in your life, and the heat of his hand on your hip, the heat of his breath on your lips is making you dizzy. You lean and suddenly, he’s pulling back, your half lidded gaze meets his, and you watch as he tugs his mask back up, and blinks the lust out of his eye, “Unprofessional.. sorry.”
You fight back the urge to tell him to forget about what you said, but your pride doesn’t allow you. When you speak again, it’s more of a whimper, “Right.” Your gaze flickers over to the wall, and the arousal relights it’s self between your thighs. You worry that Kakashi might catch on exactly to where you had been looking, and when he speaks again, you know he has, “I think about it too.”
This time, on your walk home, there isn’t any shame. The only thing that’s running through your veins is white hot arousal. God, what did you get yourself into?

Heyo, I'm currently obsessing over obey me, specifically mammon becuase, soft.
Now I'm just stuck thinking of Y/N being accidentally chucked into narutoverse and, not panicking at all, still absolutely putting their life in danger.
Oh, an S class missing nin? Lemme say hi.
And in, Obey me Y/N fashion they pull out the charm and talk, befriending anyone they come into contact with, mostly on accident.
They now not only have pacts with 7 of the strongest demons in the devildom (excluding barb and dia from this list) but also have made themselves irreplaceable to all of the hidden leaf, the akatsuki, and everyone in between.
By the time the demons are able to get Y/N back, there's like 30 people hanging onto them, refusing to let go.
Bonus points:
Y/N sees white hair in the distance and blurts out "Mammon!" And runs over, as they got closer they saw how spiky the hair was, and realized no... not mammon.
Everyone is super interested in their pact marks.
The hidden leaf nins get kinda worried when Y/N mentions they know demons and have pacts with them.
They get especially worried when they mention they love said demons and are very close.
Someone mentions the devil himself, Y/N immediately: "Oh, I'm friends with his son!"
Serious points for those who want: (SPOILERS FOR TASK 16)
Y/N has frequent nightmares while separated from their demons, not only about what they're going through, but also about dying.
Seriously the game did not go over this enough, no way Y/N just got over that.
They felt it, they watched themselves die and felt it. Nope, nightmare city.
After getting closer to everybody, I could see them telling them about that.
Kakashi ups the protectiveness a bit, after all he's already lost enough friends.
Team 7 also ups the protectiveness for the same reasons.
I feel like Hidan would say it's cool they got to be killed by demon, let's be honest here. But if they're close to eachother I feel he'd also claim that if any demon tries it again he'd be able to end them.
Orochimaru and Sasori would be interested in the time travel aspect of the whole ordeal, and would probably ask questions about the previous timeline.
Y/N begins to feel homesick for the devildom, but at the same time doesn't want to leave their new friends behind.
Best ending here in my opinion: Y/N in game has eluded to having nothing for them in the human realm anyway, so maybe for the time they aren't taking part in the exchange program they can find a way to let them stay there.
Mammon visits daily becuase I said so.
Charisma 100 reader
I mean how else did they befriend all the demons in the devildom and then literally everyone in Naruto

I love how even those who love Naruto hate Naruto
Like, yes, we like the anime/manga and are somehow obsessed with it, but at the same time its many flaws make this a fucking nightmare and we must correct the wrongs through fanfictions and AUs
Some of us were able to escape this Hell, but many of them have come back (like me, curses Naruto XD) like a gravitational force pulling us towards this terrible, plot-holes-filled place with no realistic timeline, we don't even get mad if someone says that Naruto is bad, we're all collectively like "Yeah, I know buddy" and I love this fandom for this 🤣🤣🤣
Naruto sucks us in with great characters and good initial ideas. Such as the zabuza arc exploring how terrible the system is and how it treats Shinobi as weapons that as easily expendable
But Kishi can't tie off a plot well. To continue the story, nothing can be fixed. If Naruto and Kakashi (as the Hokage's) had actually fixed the system, Boruto wouldn't exist. At least not with them as 12 year old soldiers
Also mood on the 'being pulled back in' thing XD I thought I had escaped after Kakashi's momentary death in the Pein arc but then I saw a friend reblog something Naruto in 2019 and git sucked right back in 😭😭😭
