But Shi has no problem carrying So, and they switched. SkekSo is not okay with it, because he wants to be the male in this relationship, but Shi is just too happy picking him up like this.

TDC Essay: A little too much credit

There is one aspect of the TDC movie canon that I do not agree with at all. Ironically, this is an aspect related to the ending.

Mainly, the skeksis would have never 'won.' There was no canonical way they could have regained their youth or become fully immortal.

First, the skeksis do not have any magic. Unlike the urru, they have no way to even try to connect to Thra or to listen to it. Never mind the native species of Thra to whom such connections are normal. As the Crystal is mostly magical, to make it do what you want requires being able to 'talk to it.'

Now, skekTek the Scientist can make the Crystal do some things. But those things are mostly playing with the Crystal's polarity and using the fact that the Crystal is a…well, crystal, to use its refraction to draw and deposit essence. SkekTek is not doing anything with the Crystal that it wouldn't be able to do normally.

Even the Sun Ceremony is only using the Crystal's ability to store and give life to take energy from the suns. As we see in the movie and especially AOR, it often doesn't even seem to work. It might be making things worse for the skeksis as those outside the Castle look much healthier than those who take part in the Sun Ceremony.

The Great Conjunction does offer a boost to the Crystal's power, as we can see it serving as a transport method and a way to split one being. But not only were the urskeks able to connect to the Crystal but when the aforementioned events happened there was no Darkening and the Crystal was still whole.

By the time of the third Great Conjunction, the lands of Skarith are darkening bound, the Crystal is on its last legs in terms of power thanks to the essence mess, and it is weakened further by missing the shard. Add to it that the skeksis lack any sort of ability to non-mechanically command it and there is no way the skeksis could have gotten their wish.

What I think would have happened is that the Crystal would have at best exploded or at worst died, taking Thra and everyone on it with it.

I think the whole immortality and youth plan was a pipe dream to keep the skeksis from falling into despair. Besides, we do not know how long they actually had, since the only skeksis dying to 'natural causes' had basically drank uranium until he got severe radiation sickness.

Having the skeksis gain what they want would have gone against the message of the story. You cannot force something to happen and abusing something will not give you more power.

Heya tdc community! I need your help with a tiny thing.

I need help finding some fonts from the comics. Here’s some examples of what I mean.

Skeksis, Mystics, and podlings all have their own unique fonts instead of the common comic book font that all the gelfling use. I feel like i’m pretty savvy with fonts, but no matter where I look I can’t seem to find the origin of these specific typefaces. If anyone knows the names of any of these, please let me know in any way you can!

The skeksis and mystic fonts look like some sort of serif or script font. While the podling text has a more round, sans serif style. Almost like a child’s writing. Anything helps, so feel free to reblog, leave a comment, or dm me if you know, or have any leads! Thank you!
