My Jason/Red Hood Headcanons
Warring! I've only read about him in fanfics and researching info. I've never read a comic on this man in my live yet but he is bb to me.
JASON
He is a mother hen friend. [says a mother hen friend, i know the signs of one bitch]
He is the big brother you go to if anything bad happened to you, because whoever hurt you will no longer exist.
He is also the brother you go to to hide a body, most questions not asked.
He was [and still is] a theater kid 1000%.
He secretly drinks tea like a 1700s/1800s lady.
He would take the role of "housewife" in the relationship.
His love language is cooking; if he cooks for you, you are loved.
Stress cleaning. due to living on the streets, Jason likes his space(s) to be clean and tidy, he did it to control his environment. Which means he stress cleans, fortunately and unfortunately. Fortunately because his safe houses are always clean but unfortunately because he will clean whatever room he is in [e.g. one of the bedrooms in the manor, bruce's offices, meeting rooms, other peoples safe houses, you get it what I'm saying]
When Jason is anxious or panicked he cooks and he cooks a lot when that happens.
He is always carrying at least five knives and two guns on a good day, eight knives and four guns on a bad day.
How many knives and guns he carries depends solely on his paranoia level for that day.
Jason when dealing with a horrid mental health day(s) or week(s) and knows he can not bring himself to cook anything, will text or call Alfred; his grandfather Bruce Wayne's butler will stop by the next day with a fresh batch of his famous cookies and three to seven tupperwares of his cooking for his grandson, Jason to heat up when needed.
as RED HOOD
He 1000% mother hens the Alley Kids, they've just learned to accept it [and the Alley Kids 1000% do not fear red hood and sass/mock/tease him to no end].
Red is like a BAMF Mama Bear TM.
To help ease Tim after the "TTA" whenever they are together [and not in harms way] he dismantles his guns and removes his knives from his person to show vulnerability .
all safe houses have at least two books in them even in the other bat's+bird's safe house. Most of them are Jane Austen books.
All food cooked when anxious/panicked he gives out to the homeless and the alley kids, sometimes the working girls too depending on how much he makes.
Jason as a HUGE knife collection.
With the knife collection he hands them out like candy to the Alley kids and working girls.
He gives them [the Alley kids and working girls] self defense classes every Tuesdays and Thursdays where he teaches them ways to get away and/or detain men two to three times their own size.
Also gives classes in properly handle a knife, and use it to your advantage in a fight; and normal day to day survival [for Alley kids], and how to conceal carry with few clothing on and still be easily accessible [for the working girls].
If any of the bat clan need shelter because of a storm or to hide after a fight they will crash in one of Hood's many safe houses.
Due to this, all Hood safe houses are stocked with change of clothes for each bat member.

My last post about Byron got some discussion about how he stabbed himself with the pen, and whether we’re meant to take that as self-harm or punishing Tristan. I got reminded of this part of the compromise discussion:
Tumblr media
Tristan considers how he felt about Byron spending so much time with Moonsong, and reflexively reaches out to where he felt Byron stab his leg. No matter what he says about the matter, I think he sees the long conversation with Moonsong as Byron punishing him, in the same way the pen-stabbing could be seen that way.
Tristan says he doesn’t care about what Moonsong says about him, but that seems like a pretty obvious lie. I don’t think you could avoid being upset if you were forced to watch as your brother and your teammate bond over how much they hate your guts, and then after said teammates casually admits to being incredibly homophobic, watch your brother stay with her for another several hours. Knowing you were there listening the whole time.
I've been thinking about how Tristan responded when he got control back in the morning:
Tumblr media
Byron takes this all to mean Tristan can't stand listening to Byron. After all, Tristan is spending all the time complaining about the conversation, and not about Moonsong's homophobia. But wouldn't you expect him to be a bit upset about that? Isn't him not bringing it up at all, stumbling over himself trying to express indignation at anything besides Moonsong's homophobia, not incredibly revealing? Byron seems to be assuming that Tristan is being truthful when he says "she can say whatever she wants about me," but we know he's more sensitive about that he want's people to think. Byron knows too, considering how he earlier weaponized it:
Tumblr media
His brother shouting slurs at him was the first thing to put him on the argumentative backfoot in that fight. Byron brings up how Tristan called him a pussy after he told others not to call him a sissy—regardless of how that's a dick move, does he not realize Tristan was desperately trying to escape being the bullied school queer, trying to avoid showing that the insults got to him and positioning himself as one of the guys? Trying to force the words to be friendly ribbing instead of taunting jeers?
So how would he talk about the experience of his brother choosing to spend two hours with a girl who just admitted to despising him for being openly gay, desperately wanting to get away from all of it while forced to stay and listen— and for what? What could justify his brother sitting there despite everything and making him take it? He wouldn't fucking say why it drove him crazy. He would talk around it, complain about how boring it was— because why was his brother staying there despite what Moonsong said if they were going to talk about nothing, and Tristan didn't have anything to latch onto other than his useless desire to leave? He would say he was loosing his mind— because how else was he going to feel about his brother obviously crushing on this woman who hates him for who he is, hearing them talking about nothing, picturing them on future dates together and living with the indignity of it for who knows how long? Was he going to say no to who his brother wanted to be with? Was he going to be a sissy gaylord faggot about it?
He obviously wasn't motivated by careful consideration when he went out to lose himself in the party. But I think if I could reconstruct what he was thinking, it was that if he had to deal with his brother dating a homophobe while carrying around for the whole thing, then surely the door for whatever was open. Surely each brother could use their body for what they wished, and deal with what the other did without complaint. He could take Byron dating Moonsong. He could take Byron stabbing himself in the thigh. I think that was why he acted so shocked and betrayed by Byron going to Vaughn: sure it was subjecting you to something you didn't want to deal with, but isn't that the road we were going down anyway?
Tristan says he'd be fine with Byron dating Moonsong if it kept him sane, but that he needed to go out and prowl to stay sane himself. And it really seems like the thing that breaks him is the prospect of watching from behind his brother's eyes as Byron plays out a letters-and-sodas nothing-beyond-kissing-and-holding-hands romance of boring and innocent and good straight couples with smiling faces behind white picket fences. The mockery of watching as Byron plays out the normative dream, complete with the simmering homophobia, and Tristan being around for the whole thing without the possibility of escaping into his own world.
Tumblr media
I'm not saying Byron was in the wrong for forcing the compromise. But if I was Tristan I would've tried to kill him too.

no because it’s the way hoa casually let us know that Rufus canonically has an impossibly realistic (clearly magic) mask that makes him look like a completely different person. and then never addresses this again.

oh boy making some BIG changes to toh daemon au fjkdg
like good changes. part of the editing process is chopping things up and incorporating ideas i had later down the line but this is changing a super huge aspect of the fic (what luzmari originally settles as) and while it is the right choice there is still a part of me like. damn.
but me writing this fic spanned through like, two other daemon aus (at least. probably more honestly but i think two big ones). and ive come away from them with a lot more ideas on daemons and what i want to say with them, and like...cmon. cmon. i HAVE to.

PLUTONIA - Hadestown Italian Sixties AU
A small town in the South, centered around signor Mercurio’s train station and bar. It only comes alive in summertime, when wealthy donna Proserpina comes back for her yearly vacation, bringing warm weather and gifts. Euridice, a young runaway seeking to escape misery, stops at the bar and meets Orfeo, an idealist if melancholic musician who charms her with his hopeful view of the world. The television brings news from the rich North, where jobs are easily found and everyone thrives: Euridice gets more and more enthralled, Orfeo trusts that their poor but free life is enough, and better times will come. When signor Plutone, the industrialist-king, arrives to fetch his wife sooner than expected, the young lovers’ fate is bound to follow that one railway, all the way up to the giant factory-city, Plutonia…

I was tagged by the lovely @archetypewriter ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you so much for thinking of me darling!!! Fair warning, though: you’ve asked *an English lit grad student* to answer questions in a written format. I hope you’ve learned your lesson lol. In my defense, I can’t help being verbose; it’s my nature!!! 😂😭
Tag 9 people you want to get to know better!!!
Last song: XTC “Respectable Street”
Last show: Burn Notice
Currently watching: I always have the tv on in the background bc it reduces anxiety for me, but I’m not necessarily watching; it’s like white noise. The shows I’m actually watching are: Burn Notice, trying to finally finish Lucifer (the second half of season 6), and I’m going to try to get to Lucky Hank either today or tomorrow, despite my having a severe issue with large beards due to traumatic childhood parent issues. I honestly can’t decide if it’s a good thing that Bob has such a terrible beard in this show or not 😭 Like the fact that he’s playing an English professor might have been too indulgent for me without the off-putting facial hair lol.
Currently reading: Unfortunately I don’t read much for pleasure at the moment. A lot of this has to do with being so behind in my dissertation, which causes me to feel like I shouldn’t/can’t read anything that isn’t research; consequently, I end up just not reading. That said, I have been reading bits of Bob’s book A Load of Hooey, which is hilarious and ridiculous but is also easy to pick up and put down because it has a lot of very short parts. Books closer to my research: Killer Apes, Naked Apes & Just Plain Nasty People: The Misuse and Abuse of Science in Political Discourse by professor emeritus of anthropology at St. Lawrence University Richard J. Perry (a history and critique of biological determinism that is written for a non-academic audience — I highly recommend it) and, a more theory-based text, The Age of Scientific Sexism: How Evolutionary Psychology Promotes Gender Profiling and Fans the Battle of the Sexes by feminist/queer theorist and Distinguished Professor of critical theory and gender/sexuality studies at University of Toronto Mari Ruti (also fantastic albeit a bit dated as it’s from 2015 — Ruti has a very interesting writing style, but this book can be challenging for someone unfamiliar with theory and/or reading heavily academic texts).
Current obsession: I mean all apologies for being interminably repetitious, but Burn Notice (as well as Jeffrey Donovan in Burn Notice because a) he’s an incredible actor and b) he is seriously fucking hot in this role). I’m actually rewatching (yes AGAIN), but mainly because I realized that I hadn’t really been paying attention to seasons 1-2 during the rewatch.
When Better Call Saul ended I wasn’t really ready to invest in a totally new show (except for a couple of shorter ones), because it left me a tad despondent I suppose. I’d watched it from day one, back in 2015, after we’d binged Breaking Bad. So I saw that Burn Notice was streaming and thought “low stakes rewatch” because even though I watched the whole series when it originally aired, it ended back in like 2013 I think, and I’d honestly forgotten how good it is. Despite its flaws, it is such an entertaining and satisfying show. It has an incredibly strong and unique female character, and the way Michael and Fiona’s relationship develops (or re-develops) is fun and frustrating and emotionally rewarding at once. They’re both deeply flawed, deeply traumatized characters who love each other more than they love themselves, and slowly they both grow to realize that they can bring out the good in each other while helping to mitigate the bad. They save other people, that’s the sort of formula of the show beyond the burned spy part, but they also save each other, in more ways than one.
I really love shows that, at their core, turn out to be about something more substantial than what appears on the surface, particularly if that something is love in some form. When a show surreptitiously sneaks in a message about love, that show tends to stick with me so much longer and affect me so much more deeply. Better Call Saul, The X-Files, The Americans (admittedly in a fucked up way), The Glory, Lucifer, Leverage (which reminds me that I still need to watch the new one), or even Bates Motel (or Buffy/Angel in some ways) all, to one extent or another, have an underlying narrative of love (not just romantic, although that’s a fave for me), as well as related themes of identity (and what it means — like both what you choose and what others assign to you and how that affects your ability to be a fulfilled human), trauma and the aftermath, and family (both blood and found). These themes are quite overt in some of the shows I mentioned and less so in others, but in my opinion the threads run through them all. However, in Burn Notice they each are incorporated into the story incredibly well, which is a big part of what makes the show so compelling for me.
Okay, essay over!!!!! All apologies 😫 Anyway here’s a photo of a special birdie friend on my mantle (the spots are blacked out for privacy bc they are photos of my nephews) ❤️
Tumblr media
I’m not going to tag nine people but I am tagging @veyzus @yellowginghamdream @tahiri-veyla @darkskywishes (though I haven’t seen them in a while so I hope all is well) and @nissameta1782 (I always feel weird tagging unless I know someone pretty well, which is weird bc I love being tagged by people I’ve never talked to before lol . . . go figure). Please don’t feel pressured!!! Ignore if you want ❤️

La Opinión, 20 February 1938
Found this photo in a newspaper! So it’s got nothing to do with the car accident, which happened in April. That there are photos taken in connection with a nervous attack (whatever that’s supposed to mean) seems weirder though than photos taken after being suspected of drunk driving.

thinking about my ocs lads
#cw for mentions of child abuse and neglect in the tags#i wanna revamp my ducktales/disney ducks ocs#because i miss them :(#im trying to rewrite their backstories and maybe make human versions of them? i don’t want to scrub away the ducks entirely lmao#so far ive fixed up a new story for vera 😎#she’s the illegitimate child of a professional thief who mostly steals jewelry and precious gems#and a morally kind of screwed and ruthless businessman in some kind of jewelry-related industry#who also has done some vigilante justice that lead to him meeting the thief. and then they fell in love#they’re not very good for eachother lol#and neither of them would be good parents#her mom tries to keep her away from her dad and succeeds for like 12 years by telling vera that she was. conceived without much consent#which is fucked up to say to a kid and it doesn’t get much better from there#vera’s mom is a dangerous unscrupulous person who should not have a kid#she drinks often and vera is scared of her but also very angry.#(to be fair she doesn’t really do it intentionally. vera’s mom is fairly mentally ill due to her own upbringing. it’s not really malicious)#vera feels like a burden to everyone bc of how her mom treated her :(#and her father is less unstable but he’s too emotionally distant and focused on his work that if vera was with him#she would end up being almost as neglected as with her mom#vera is very tragic and sad. she’s just a kid#im trying to rewrite what i had of her main plot where she meets her dad and extended family#it’s kinda fun to retool it into something original 😎#i wanna do the same for rosalie next because I Miss Her#cute lesbian seamstress……..#anyway this was oc time.#vera cassandra#rosalie henderson#my ocs
