if you even attempted eye contact with the man he would look away immediately, but with any other girl it was always, "hey baby girl," and "lookin' goood mama,"

and it made yoi so sad, because the transition into joining the tram had been so smooth, and you hd thought you got along really well with everyone, except derek. he couldn't even stand to talk to you.

having a desk directly across from him only made things harder. you had to think before you even dared to look up, because derek might get annoyed and leave to go do his work separately.

one day, after a case you were writing the paperwork for the case summary report, absentmindedly putting your pen in between your lips, you pause, feeling eyes on you.

you look up not taking the pen out of your mouth, looking across your desk to be met with derek sitting at his desk, a strange look on his face. well, at least he wasnt immediately looking away, thats a good sign.

you twirled the pen between your teeth out of habit, keeping eye contact with the tall man.

Wow Astrid is the pro at the "Walk of Shame", having done it a few times in this book. I felt sorry for her in the beginning of the book as her world crumbles around her. Giving up on everything that she loved to try and forget the past is a horrible way to deal with it. Giving Cal her last bag of Cheetos was the best thing she could have done, as this gave fate the opening she needed to change her life.

Cal's career is over and he will do anything to get back on the ice even as a coach. Jumping on the chance to have a shot at doing what he loves most, hockey. But when a one night stand turns into someone forbidden, the risk at losing everything is too great to take a chance.

This romantic comedy is full of whit and sarcasm that will have you laughing your butt off. But it also has a serious side that will make you feel for the characters and the troubles they encounter. It also has some really dirty scenes if you know what I mean. "wink, wink" Together all these things make for a truly amazing and fun read that is sure to provide you with hours of entertainment. The characters are amazing and strong and also includes cameos of past characters from other books the author has written. This adds an authenticity to her books, making them feel real and connected.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and loved the comedic way the story is told. I love Avery Flynn and have read about 90% of her books starting with Muffin Top. Each book has a heroine who suffers at some time or another in her life, then meets a wonderful guy who will bring her walls down and show her the true meaning of happiness. This book is no different and I cannot wait to read more.

My review:

I love a morally grey hero. Seems like a contradiction in terms, right? And maybe Aldo is a shade or two darker than grey, but darned if he's not sexy as sin while pushing the limits. He's fierce in his work and equally fierce when it comes to taking care of Violet. There's just something about those guys who know from the minute they see the one, even when they don't realize that they know. I love that Violet has the sass and strength to stand up to Aldo when necessary and be willing to walk that grey line with him. Maybe not in actions, but she's not squeamish either.

I fully expected to enjoy this one - it was written by Melanie Moreland, after all - and I did. It didn't take long for me to be completely smitten with Aldo, and Violet is a terrific heroine. The story has some grit, but we also get to see Aldo's softer side, as well as a bit of a sense of humor. I can't wait to see what's in store for Roman in the second part of the duet!
