HEY GUESS WHAT

50,000+ words of fanfiction and poetry, mostly fanfiction, for some of the whackiest ideas and prompts I've gotten. this was probably my most enjoyable NaNoWriMo journey messy personal life notwithstanding

truthfully, I've only finished 1 one-shot out of all of these WIPs. but I'm like 85% done with my draft for A Kind of Magic and maybe 70% for Catligraphy, and I'm confident I can finish both of them by December and achieve a bingo for my Merlin bingo by next week.

plus I actually did manage to write once a day and got this neat lil badge! that was better than my first win where I skipped writing for a few days and just made up for it on other days. I didn't meet the daily word count target, but at least there was something every day :D

I also have a few other Good Omens WIPs that I started, like that Santocielo AU inspired by Stevie's fanart and a post S1 spicy ineffable wives AU, and redoing that post S1 pure fluff that I started in...2019 I think. oh, and that fic for In Love With My Car zine. I am so excited to continue working on these. plus, I had a few other random ideas that I'm still debating whether to continue or not. we'll see!

I will probably be slowing down a bit after Merlin bingo closes to focus on editing. plus, I have some podfics lined up that I put on hold for NaNo. some folks over at the Ace Omens server have also given me permission to work on their fics...I am so honored and thrilled.

anyway, congratulations to all my fellow Wrimos! whether you made it to 50k or didn't, you've already made amazing progress in trying to take on this huge project. well done! I am so proud of all of you <3

anyway, since this was the fic that got me past 50k, here's a new snippet of that Santocielo AU under the cut 😂

“This is all my fault. I really am sorry,” Aziraphale apologized again, close to tears now, which of course, Crowley noticed.

The demon turned his head towards Aziraphale. Even through his glasses, Aziraphale could tell that he was glaring.

“I’m not forgiving you until you take some blessed responsibility for this,” Crowley hissed in ire.

Aziraphale immediately nodded. “Oh, of course, I will take responsibility.” He sighed forlornly. “It is my responsibility, and I botched it.”

Suddenly, something hit him on the forehead. He cried in surprise more than hurt and caught the item as it fell. He glanced down at it and saw that it was Crowley’s sunglasses. Even more shocked, Aziraphale turned back to Crowley.

Crowley was still looking quite cross as he remained curled up on the sofa. But without his glasses, his demeanor seemed slightly softer.

“Less blaming and more acting,” Crowley griped, crossing his arms.

“Oh, right.” Aziraphale stood from his armchair and positioned himself to do the dance, but was interrupted.

“No, you idiot, that’s not what I meant,” Crowley ground out with another roll of his eyes.

“Then…what did you mean?” Aziraphale asked, uncertain.

the fifth camphong novel arrived!!! so its now lined up with the other novels and their matching charms :') and of course various hualian standees in front of them because i have no where else to put them and they only partially cover the novels pretty covers

It's Paris, 1793, in the midst of the French Revolution. Aziraphale is peckish, has a craving for crêpes (and the brioche), and finds himself needing to be rescued from the Bastille. Crowley comes to his rescue and Aziraphale realises that this isn't the first time the demon has done so. And more to the point, what is he going to do about it?

God couldn’t possibly blame him if he was taking this chance to revel in – words couldn’t possibly encompass what the demon meant – demon didn’t even feel right as a word to describe him – Crowley’s presence. It felt too ineffable for it to be just a mere coincidence. Ineffable. Yes, maybe that was the word that encompassed Crowley. Beyond his understanding, incapable of being put into words.

In 1793, drunk on crépes and smiles (and possibly a little bit of alcohol as well), Crowley sent a stack of pages to a publishing company.

Not too long after that, the first volume of love poetry by up-and-coming writer Antonio Penn hit the printing press.

It was one of Aziraphale’s gavotte partners at the club in Portland Place who gifted him his first copy of one of Antonio Penn’s anthologies of poetry.

Penn was, of course, far from the first love poet whose works Aziraphale had read… and, indeed, far from the first whose poetry had touched his heart. Still, Aziraphale was not sure he had ever encountered an author whose words resonated quite so deeply.

WEEK 18: Monday FMP Talk with Angela

Monday started with Angela covering as our tutor for Maisie during our weekly group meeting. This gave me a chance of pitching her my newest development of the Cryptid idea for the FMP.

Thinking about different Cryptids, especially in the sense of stories and modern-day footage made me think that it could be differentiated between "Ancient" Cryptids [ACs], who have their roots in indigenous legends and folklore spread from generation to generation by word of mouth to warn of supernatural danger or consequences of anti-social behaviour resulting in turning into a monster, and "Modern" Cryptids [MCs] stemming from recent eyewitness accounts, footage and other "prove of existance".

Stories of ACs have educational value to a certain degree, specifically the stories from indigenous sources. The Wendigo is what people turn into if they have resorted to cannibalism. Less human (although humanoid in appearance) and more beast with an unstoppable thirst for human blood. The Skinwalker is also a creature that once was human but through dark rituals and magic morphed into a murderous monster that can take the shape of an animal (with certain human characteristics remaining, making it a disturbing sight to behold) and mimic familiar voices to lure their victims out of hiding. As scary and fantastical as these creatures sound, native american legends like that are warnings for other generations to stay away from a "dark path" (cannibalism, murder, dark magic) and those who have already fallen for it.

MCs on the other hand seem to be more funny, weird and less vicious in nature. The monster of Loch Ness comes to mind. Captured in photographs and described by eyewitnesses Nessie doesn't seem to be interested in harming humans. Neither does Bigfoot, the "missing link" in the evolution from ape to human, he seems to simply be a big, shy, hairy creature who likes to keep to the woods and out of sight from humans. Apart from those times where he involuntarily posed for washy photos of hikers, of course. Eventhough the Mothman is seen as a bad omen, there are no such concrete stories like for the Wendigo or Skinwalker to seek out humans to torment or murder them. And then there is the Fresno Nightcrawler, an internet favorite, he seems to simply like a nice mid-nightly stroll in quiet neighbourhoods.

Having made this destination between the 2 fractions of Cryptids I pitched Angela my latest project outcome idea:

A cryptozoology zine covering around 10 Cryptids (5 ACs, 5MCs) with an illustration of the creature on the left and a short discription of behaviour, location and appearance on the right. Towards the end of the zine I'd like to include one of those cheesy Girl-Magazine-Type Quizzes that are multiple choice to find out "Which Ancient Cryptid are you?" and "Which Modern Cryptid are you?". The reader would be encouraged to identify a Cryptid and could purchase a hoody or t-shirt or poster with the Cryptid screen printed on it.

Angela said it's a good idea that covers all 3 aspects of the FMP brief, which made me really happy. She asked a few follow up questions regarding if I had screen printed before and how this fits into my portfolio/with my other work. I left LCC that Monday excited to get working!
