Aeternitas.
The secret was this: Miles had woken up in a strange place. The sky was blue, the grass green, greener than he had ever seen. Cotton-like soft clouds scattered across the sky. Cumulus, Miles registered. It was a bright, fine summer day. Wait. Wasn’t there a thunderstorm, like, just yesterday? Miles sat up, rubbed his eyes, and tried to figure out where he was. His eyes raked in the acres of land…

Lucas didn't need to kill Athy in order to consume her mana despite that he still made an attempt on her life and would have succeeded had her divine beast not biten him. What was the reason? It is difficult to understand why Lucas would murder an innocent child when there is a harmless way to extract their mana, it is even more puzzling that he would lay a hand on a royal child, who he assumed had been Caelum's offspring. Caelum, the only Emperor we know of that Lucas actually had an amiable relationship with.
Did Caelum's request to teach Aeternitas make him so enraged that he would harm Caelum's children without remorse? Lucas mistakened Athy for Aeternitas' sibling, daughter or granddaughter and he wanted to kill her. Let that sink in. What could this imply about the things Lucas would have done (did) to Aeternitas? The general fandom made fun at Aeternitas for not getting over an insult from hundred of years ago, but then there is Lucas, who is an ancient all powerful mage and had beef with a literal elementary schooler. Isn't Lucas the pathetic one? Lucas' comment over Aeternitas' mana casted doubt on Aeternitas relation to the Emperor. This could have resulted in the exile or execution of Aeternitas and his mother. And then we have this scene where Lucas activitely tries to suffocate a little girl which he believes to be Aeternitas' child...

MerMay Day 1 : Marine Biologist
Prompt by: @mossypidder
Tumblr media
He’d taken the job working with the eccentric marine biologist to get away from his life on the land. A man on the run, he figured the waters would be a safe place to hide. At least, for the time being. He’d heard rumours of the scientist, his precise nature, he was strict and kept to himself. And yet, those who encountered him couldn’t help but note how…
Uncanny, he seemed.
Katsumi was intrigued by such a description. How could he not be?
The first night on the ship, he didn’t even get the chance to see the marine biologist. Apparently he retired early, leaving Katsumi to wonder for another day. The man walked along the deck of the ship, listening to the waves and whipping wind as the sun began to set.
He stopped when he more smelled than heard people nearby. Katsumi’s kitsune features twitched, his tails swishing softly behind him. He crept closer, quietly, so he could eavesdrop on the people speaking.
“I heard he doesn’t go anywhere near the water.”
“Oh really? Why not?”
“Nobody knows! But I hear that’s why they hired that weird diver.”
“That fox man?”
“Yeah! Apparently they found him on the Naikama port.”
“Weird.”
“Well no weirder than a marine biologist that doesn’t swim.”
Katsumi rolled his eyes, pushing himself off the metal wall he’d leaned against. Such trivial gossip. But with night rapidly approaching, he decided an argument wasn’t worth his time. Instead he opted to quietly return to his cabin, he would make the most of his time on the seas. Even if he didn’t necessarily make friends whilst doing so.
He took the following dawn in stride, eating something light in his cabin before getting ready for the day. Katsumi held the wave patterned ribbon in his hand, hesitating as he held his ponytail in his other hand. He didn’t want it to get ruined if he had to dive.
He let his blond-brown hair fall around his shoulders and chest, he looked around, eyeing the spare pillow cases in the closet.. Katsumi grabbed one of them, then his dagger, ripping the fabric lengthwise. This would probably be fine, he assumed. He needed a hair tie, somehow.
Katsumi was surprised to find the ship anchored, he hadn’t really noticed. The early morning sun was beautiful, it warmed his skin as he made his way to where he heard people gathered. The scent of the sea, the sparkling water. It was all so beautiful, all so different from the lands he felt stranded upon.
He stopped in his tracks upon seeing a purple haired man, notebook in hand, a hat upon his head. But cutouts had been made for the purple feline ears atop his head. His face was void of any readable emotion, but Katsumi was attracted to his features and calm aura almost immediately.
Was this the marine biologist?
“Oh, you’re here.”
The kitsune straightened out.
“Suit up, I need you to dive for some samples from this area.”
“Yes, sir!”
He turned to leave, but his tails stagnated.
“I’ll show you, come on.”
Katsumi was quick to follow him and his long strides as he led him away from the deck of the ship.
“Are you Doctor Asase?”
“I am.”
“It’s really nice to meet you!”
Eiji Asase.. He was even more interesting in person. Maybe it was due to Katsumi’s own less than human inclination, he wasn’t put off by the man’s feline nature, whatsoever. Of course he didn’t want to go into the water. He was a cat!
The thought brought a smile to his face as he followed the man into a room. It felt more like a closet than anything, but there was enough space for him to change into the diving suit hung on the wall. “Here. I’ll meet you back at the stern. Take your time.” And with that, he was shut in the dark room.
Katsumi carefully undressed from his regular clothing, neatly folding them and leaving them on a bench in the small room. The diving suit was updated, far different from any he’d ever seen. He wondered where the good scientist got the funding. But he merely slipped into the suit, carefully pulling it up and zipping everything up.
He wasn’t paid to ask questions. Wait. Was he paid at all? Katsumi left the small room, adjusting how his tails sat against his body as he made his way back to the stern of the ship. When he stepped back out on the deck, the sun was higher in the sky, it was undoubtedly going to be a warm day.
Katsumi listened intently to what Eiji had to say, what he wanted, what he needed collected from the ocean floor beneath them. With the list in detail explained to him, Eiji tucked his notebook under his elbow. The feline wordlessly helped him into the helmet, making sure it was secure to his suit.
He boarded the lifeboat with ease, sitting down so he could attach the equipment given to him to collect the samples around his waist. “At that depth you have thirty minutes of oxygen. Use it wisely.” Eiji walked away as the boat began to get lowered.
At only eighty feet down, it wasn’t the deepest he’d been. He barely had to rely on his vulpine eyesight like he had in the past. No, this was quite enjoyable. Even if he was scraping weird goo off of rocks.
He lifted the closed container in front of his face, shaking it slightly. His only thought was how gross it looked. Katsumi tucked it away in his carrier. He paid close attention to his time as he completed each task as quickly and efficiently as possible beneath the surface.
He resurfaced with five minutes left to spare, gripping the edge of the boat, he hoisted himself into it. Katsumi laid in the warm boat under the warm sun, waiting for it to be brought up. He was going to enjoy his time. It’d been a while since he dived, he forgot how tiring it could be, swimming against the waves.
The next several days were more of the same. Dive in the early morning, have the rest of the day to himself, let Masuyo deal with the evening. Every morning was somewhere new, every morning was the deep blue sea. It brought him a sort of joy that the land couldn’t. Even if it also brought with it an inescapable emptiness.
The sun would set soon, most of the crew were enjoying their dinner. It was quiet back here. Katsumi enjoyed the relative silence, just the sounds of the ship and the sea. They may not have been moving, an approaching storm rendering them safer in the current dive spot. But the hum of the ship still pleased his ears.
He knew the expedition was only slated to last a month. But he couldn’t help but want it to last longer. His tails swished behind him with fondness as he stared out at the orange and pink sky, the cotton candy clouds. It was all so-
A yell and a nearby splash caught his attention, the sound was nearby, but quiet. Katsumi pushed himself off the railing, moving quickly along the side of the ship. He noticed the rope before anything else, then it was the dropped notebook.
“Doctor Asase?!”
Katsumi held onto the railing, crouching down to search the water. Blue-green eyes quickly processed every inch of water in front of him. He turned his attention to the unravelled rope currently plunged into the depths.
The man grabbed the rope, pulling on it with a huff. Katsumi fell back when the rope came up with nothing on the other side. “Damn-” He went to the ledge again, once more trying to search the water. He could dive but that was deep, even with his training. Not to mention trying to get a struggling person out.
There was a flash of purple and white and the kitsune had to blink a couple of times. Had he seen that correctly? Maybe it was Eiji- But it wasn’t hair he was seeing. It was almost like- fins. Billowing, beautiful fins. Purple and white, and they looked almost soft.
Eiji surfaced from beneath the water, on his back in the darkening sea. Mismatched eyes caught his and Katsumi couldn’t help the way his slit pupils quickly turned round with surprise. His hat floated nearby in the water, his lab coat soaked, clung to him awkwardly.
“You have a tail!”
Well, that wasn’t a feline one.
“Oh dear.”
Katsumi shook his head, leaning back he grabbed the rope and once more threw it overboard. Eiji swam for his hat, grabbing it before he grabbed the rope, allowing the kitsune to drag him back onto the ship’s deck. On his knees, his tails soared behind him, wagging side to side with glee.
“You’re a merperson!”
“Not so loud.”
Eiji held his hand up, silencing the kitsune with a look. He lowered his hand, instead wiggling out of his now too tight lab coat. His scales were various shades of purple and white, some were faded with scars, others were shiny against the pink sky.
“You’re beautiful.”
The scientist hesitated, taken off guard by the comment. He hadn’t expected it. “I- I won’t tell anyone, I promise.” Katsumi touched his chest, over his heart. “Cross my heart.” And Eiji could feel his shoulders relax. The kitsune looked around, dinner would be done soon..
Eiji let out a strangled noise when the man picked him up with ease, using his lab coat to cover as much of his flowing tail as possible. “My notebook-” but he was already bending down so Eiji could grab it with ease. He could only wrap one arm around Katsumi’s neck to balance himself as the kitsune made a beeline for the closest room.
Admittedly, it was his own, rather than the scientist’s. But it was a safer bet than attempting to traverse more of the ship. Mercreatures were a rarity, considered a treasure more than a person. Something a kitsune understood all too well, himself. It was an odd kinship, but he felt the need to protect the marine biologist. To protect Eiji.
Katsumi shouldered open his room door and then shut it with his foot. He brought Eiji to the bathroom, lowering him into the shallow bathtub. “There we go!” He immediately sat on the floor beside him, eyes wide, tails wagging again. Eiji tossed his lab coat onto the ground beside him, tail flopping over the side of the bath.
“Can I borrow a towel? I need to dry it..”
He reached behind him, fumbling with the cupboard, he threw the door open and grabbed one of the towels within. He then handed it to Eiji who began to pat his tail dry. “This is why you don’t swim.” Katsumi realised, watching as the man nodded. “And you still have ears.. You’re like a fish cat! A catfish!” He snickered at his own terrible joke.
Eiji exhaled a soft chuckle, the kitsune’s reaction was refreshing. “You really won’t tell? I could fetch more than I can pay you.” But Katsumi shrugged, leaning back, his tails finally stopped wagging aggressively, brown-blond fur pooling on the ground around him.
“I won’t tell. My tails go for a lot too.”
He held a hand out and Eiji stared at his face, reading him, but he could only read sincerity. He reached out too, taking Katsumi’s hand.
They shook on it.
“But now you gotta be my friend!”
“A fair deal, I suppose.”

Who Made Me a Princess: Beware of the Prince!
Summary: In which the Crown Prince of the Obelian Empire is not a simple child.
Note: Self-indulgent OC-insert because why not. Also, evil, why hot?
Tumblr media
"Blessing upon the Crown Prince and the Obelian Empire."
"Stand."
Anastacius did as he was told and stared at the figure sitting on a chair in a lazy manner, near the window.
Why he was called here was certainly mysterious and brooding.
There shouldn't be anyone who knew of his stay at the Alpheus Dukedom, nor would even know his alias. He rarely introduced himself, or even show himself in public, for he did not want to get the attention of his troublesome brother.
Yet here he was, meeting the Crown Prince in the most famous commercial building in Obelian Empire.
According to rumors, the royal family did have a stake in this prospering business, only as an investor. But Anastacius knew there was more to it.
If he would have the opportunity, Anastacius would ask, but it seemed like such a chance was unlikely.
"Take a seat, Viscount Patterson." The young Prince gestured for him to sit across from him.
Athanasios de Alger Obelia.
Or Athos, as the little prince prefers.
His long blonde hair tied neatly into a short ponytail. His blue jeweled eyes proved his status. His tall figure and looks already eluded the aura of someone worthy of the position of the successor.
The Prince gained popularity for his intelligence, wisdom, and charm.
Anastacius wants to laugh.
The boy in front of him could be mistaken as one of his siblings.
And how wonderful would that be?
"Your highness," Anastacius smiles.
"How may I help you?"
So Anastacius doesn't hold back and gets straight to the point. Staying around this boy gave him ominous feelings, and the brief yet sharp glance from him only confirmed his suspicions.
He knows something.
The boy doesn't spare him a glance, rather continued to look outside the window at the bustling city, before speaking.
"If you were to become the emperor again, what would you do?"
Anastacius felt a chill down his spine.
"Pardon me? Your highness, I don't quite understand your question." It was a subconscious and reflective response.
The boy did not move at all. His eyes still concentrated on the flowing customers in and out of the building.
"If you were to become the emperor again, what would you do?"
He repeated the question again with the same tone.
Anastacius observed him, and a brief silence enveloped them.
"Viscount Patterson." His alias sounds like a mockery.
"Why aren't you answering the question?" The tea was cold.
"I apologize my highness. I'm just surprised at your question." The boy finally turned back, their eyes met. The Prince put down his teacup with an intentional clink!
"If you were to become the emperor again, what would you do?"
Anastacius felt the air shift, and a burst of mana seem to swirl past him.
Once again, he acted instinctively. His own mana shot forward to surround the two.
The Prince remained calm and collected as he awaited his answer. His eyes were passive, lazy even as he clasped his hands together on the table.
Amazing.
It was the first (and perhaps lasting) impression Anastacius had on the Crown Prince.
The Prince had plentiful mana at his disposal. Was it because he was born from Claude and his first Empress?
The first Empress of the empire, an archmage and the leader of the Black Tower after the original master of the Black Tower disappeared.
Known for her bright personality, leadership, and strength, she led the country with Claude to it's bright future.
Unfortunately, she passed in the midst of a war against their enemy kingdom in the south, but her death brought victory for the empire.
As such, her legacy remains, and her memory never lost, even after Claude remarried, and had a princess born.
So this was the result?
A so called perfect Prince, who helped Claude with diplomatic relations, who protected his mother's honor, and who saved the young princess of the second Empress from Claude's wraith.
A Prince loved by the people, and respected by nobles.
Anastacius fought off the urge to swallow him whole, to brainwash him for his own use, to take over his body. Aeternitas was swirling with excitement within him.
"Your highness truly is the star of this kingdom."
"Answer the question, Uncle."
"How did you know?"
The Prince smiles, bright, blinding, and innocent.
Like a child finally getting his candy from his parents.
Perhaps this was the other side of the Prince.
Calculating and mysterious.
"How would I not know my dearest Uncle, and of course, one of my dear ancestors, one of the former Emperor in Obelian history?"
A spoon fell from the table, but there was no sound of its fall.
Their world was tilted sideways.
Indeed, they were floating in the air.
Ha.
Despite the circumstances, the Prince had the audacity to look calm, collected and in control.
Every word he says is worth something.
The Crown Prince does not say anything more than he needs to.
Compared to Princess Athanasia, he really is becoming a troublesome threat.
Kill him.
Could he though?
"You haven't answered my question yet, Uncle."
Once again, Anastacius met those chilling and cunning eyes worthy of the royal family.
"If you were to become the emperor again, what would you do?"
He swallows, thinking of what to say, but Aeternitas beats him to it.
"Well, aren't you clever?"
Shut up.
He was shaking out of control.
"Why don't you join me? I'll lend you power beyond your imagination."
Dark magic swirled around the two of them, and the Prince's expression finally changed.
To one of annoyance.
"Can you really afford to expose yourself here?" His reaction and tone was flat. Almost disappointed.
With a raise of his hand, gold spilled out of his finger tips. Then, slamming his hand onto his arm rest, Anastacius regained control.
They both landed on the solid floor again with minimal sound.
His hand no longer shaking.
All Anastacius heard in his mind was amused laughter, and a regretful sigh.
That body would've been perfect to possess, but alas, Lucas will notice.
"Then I will take my leave, Uncle."
The Crown Prince leaves, and like a trained professional, he leaves without making any sound.
All Anastacius could remember was those eyes of warning, and a provoking smirk, matching that of the first Empress.
Ha.
For whatever reason the Prince wanted to exposure himself for, this was nonetheless a warning. Therefore, this was a dangerous game.
The moment Lucas know of his existence is when he'll lose. But the moment he corners the Prince and takes over him, is when he'll win.
He sits down on the chair that the Prince was siting on and looks out the window.
"They do say blood is thicker than water."

The light coming from the relic flickered in the eyes of Apple, stunning them. They froze up just as Zachariah grabbed onto the front of their cape. The High Priest yanking them forwards towards him, the crazed look on his face terrifying the poor Lord. Being met with a situation such as this, they had no idea what to do. "Listen to me!" The man spoke, his voice raising in volume as his voice cracked and he hissed out with venom laced into his tone. "You dare pass up on the power I could have given you, that we could have had? What do you think a lowly Lord such as yourself could possibly aim with the lack ambition that would inevitably be your doom?! What is peace without the presence of disaster to balance out your foolishness!"
Tumblr media
Apple stood, unable to move an inch from the priest's grasp, though they were much stronger. The fear of harming him was greater, their hand shaking. There was too much happening, with the lack of presence from Gael, they had no idea what to do. But rather than falling to their knees, they instead kept their balance. Listening to him, instead of blocking his words out. "Do you not understand? I chased you thinking that your running was not of your own cowardice, but it appears I have thought too highly of you. Thinking this was part of an elaborate plan!" Truly, Apple didn't wish for things to escalate to such an extent. Their running from the High Priest from village to village was a vain attempt to escape the clutches of what otherwise would be an unhappy commitment, a bond between two separate people with a thin line of rope, easily cut. One that their own people would plead for the freedom of not their land, but their Lord. "The people who rever to you, the rumors that has spread across the oceans to even reach not only my noble brothers and fathers, but to me as well? I thought the Lord of Iganvi was a man of power, A Lady of great mind and prowess, but to my shock they turn out to be a child from the lands of nowhere, stumbling aimlessly with the guidance of my blind kin?"
Each word was like a dagger chipping away at their heart. Their fists tighten into balls, one hand reaching for their sword, but their heart and mind scream that they must not harm despite their instincts crying for them to protect themselves. Their eyes burned with tears. Why? What right do they have to oblige to answering the hateful insults this man would give to him? When all he spoke was the truth? Yet, a spark of determination within them would yell otherwise, that they would learn from this. Learn from being pained by him.
When they gathered themselves, they saw in the corner of their eyes, blonde hair swaying with each swift movement, Gael. Their eyes turning wider when a flash of light shone the moment he unsheathed his blade, raising the sharp metal to strike at his own brother. At that moment, that would be the first time the young Lord would feel the unforgiving clutches of guilt. ____ (Some random interaction that I wanted to write, idk if I want to actually write down my entire remake down and post it to Ao3, but I do wanna show more content of them instead of just shitposts lmao) Again, really bad english sobb

❝ ━ i'm calling latona, because you're being unreasonable.❞ hekate held the phone away from her witch, slipping out of reach as iovita protests grow louder and the goddess has to refrain from smirking as she dials the number and puts it on speaker. it rings twice before someone picks up, ❝ ━ hi, good afternoon, ms. latona, i need you to speak to iovita, they're being a little unreasonable and stubborn today...❞ there's nothing more amusing than seeing how iovita pouts, it's adorable.
Tumblr media
“ DO NOT - DO NOT - HEKATE. put the phone away. ” there’s a desperate scramble as iovita tries to grab the phone from her hand, cursing vehemently in latin when she easily dodges their attempts. they would be lying if they said they didn’t feel some kind of primal fear at her very words - latona has been the only one capable of putting them in the person equivalent of a down. stay. for seventeen centuries.
“ 'miss latona,' ” muses the voice from the other end. “ you don’t have to be so proper, hekate. just latona is fine. ”
“ oh I would call you something different, ” iovita mutters. evidently loud enough to be heard, because latona lets out an undignified snort.
“ oh? am I on speaker? salve iovita. your lovely goddess is telling me that you’re being a bit of a bitch today, hm? ”
iovita doesn’t reply, scrabbling for the phone again and huffing when hekate leans away once more. “ she’s lying. ”
“ iovita. ”
Tumblr media
“ I am not being unreasonable or stubborn, ” iovita hisses.
there’s a pause. “ io, you’ve been unreasonable and stubborn since I met you. and that was seventeen hundred years ago. we had to socialize you like a dog out of an animal shelter that lied to us about you being ‘sweet’ and ‘good with people.’ because you’re neither of those things. ”
“ where are you pulling these - these - ”
there’s a thoughtful cluck from latona’s end. “ metaphors? oh. no. similes, I think it would be. hekate, darling, are you enjoying this? I’m so sorry they’re being like this. and it seems to me like they’re not going to change so why don’t you both come visit me - ”
“ no! ” iovita yells, and then coughs and lowers their voice. “ no. I’ll be good. do not, ” they point at hekate, “ listen to her. we can stay right here. please. ”
