my monster high icons are getting attention whilst i've been afk for years..... so i do appreciate people giving them attention, i don't really mind or care if you guys give credit. its not like i'm gonna hunt you down!! but i got somethings to say about them.

the reason why i made those icons is only because i rewatched the movies and show (the old show) for a nostalgia dive. so by doing this, i started doing nostalgic monster high icons and posted them through queued posts whilst i am afk.

whilst that was happening, i abandoned this blog. i recently came back to it to be surprised by a lot of people liking and reblogging saying they liked them or saved them. but i saw someone comment that a character is gay without my awareness over it. i'm not against lgbt+ characters, i love seeing them! but i'm rather confused with that being brought up.

i saw that character get paired w/ Frankie in the series (temporarily because she has so many characters paired with her). so i just made the icons of them together for cute reasons and moved on. i saw that they were a popular pairing at the time which is mostly why i made her and him be together in a icon. but i didn't know that he was gay(?).

please don't take this out of context, i'm not really writing this in a condescending way. i'm just concerned if i hurt anyone?

jk I am queuing this really early because I'm still afk for the next week or so for school. I'm in Italy digging up dead people Roman rocks, tbh, and learning Roman history that I already knew because the program is not intended for third year classics majors but COVID put it off for two years and I kinda need it to graduate. so.

This was a veryyy basic sketch I posted a while ago, based on my post-game fic Sunrise. Here's the scene it's from:

Stopping Link, he pointed at a figure on the wall. Sword raised high, shield in hand, framed by a cape and symbolic glow, Link almost immediately recognized him. His heart beat quickened.

With a snap from Ghirahim, the torches flared to life. Link could see the full carvings now, a mixture of artwork and writing, faded green and red paints flaking off the wall.

He didn't need to read to understand this story. It was one he had heard thousands of times, whispered around campfires, butchered and made so boring he couldn't stay awake in history lessons, recounted at every ceremony honoring the goddess. There had always been the feeling of what if I could be like him?, every parent telling their children they could be as brave as the Chosen Hero or as wise as the goddess, but it clicked.

This was about him.

I know, I didn't read my own writing before drawing this. It is. Not at all how I pictured this scene writing it, tbh. The sword is in the wrong position. I kind of hate doing this art style, so I'm not fixing it.

So I’m assuming this blog is dead

Ah, just the spur I needed to make this announcement!

We're not dead, I'm modding this blog on my own right now and AFK life has been HECTIC. (I have a full-time job, I participate daily in a leadership and mentoring organization, I run a side business, I'm coordinating a move in the near future, I'm learning to drive, and dealing with health issues on top of all that, it's just... There's a Lot going on.)

There was a Small Incident a little while ago which alerted me to the necessity for A Big Project where I'm going to go back and TW tag all the posts. (Nothing is getting deleted because I acknowledge that this blog was A Thing before I got here, but there's a Lot of questionable content from the early days that didn't get tagged, so in the interest of protecting vulnerable readers, I'm going to make sure that stuff gets tagged.)

I'm also going to tweak the rules a little bit, just for some common decency things. But I have to figure out how to phrase things first, and that is Hard with my all of my Brain Juice being squeezed out by the non-extracurriculars.

But I haven't forgotten about you guys and this blog! So let's consider this answer an informal announcement of intention.

That said, there have only been 4 or 5 submissions since the last headcanon was posted, so I haven't made it a Top Priority. I can do all the work behind-the-scenes that I want, but a headcanon blog can only do so much without headcanons! This informal announcement can double as an interest call: Anyone who'd like to send in a headcanon and get these posts hopping again is welcome to do so, and once we have 10 or more I'll make sure those get queued up!

correction, i ignore most queued posts that ask the reader to participate because i assume the user is gone for a while and i find it more fun to liveblog/ catch people online rather than the long wait (just me) Especially this when maybe the ask post isnt queued but when i go to send the ask, the users queue is back on meaning they probably arent around. The biggest disclaimer i gotta say is that I do not use this website in the strict/structured way other users do, so i maybe the outlier georg

yeah, that all makes sense. you couldn't find the post in this instance because i deleted it after a few hours had passed. pinning the ask game is a solid idea, but i probably wouldn't do it for the really long ones

i hadn't even considered that queued posts could be interpreted as being AFK. maybe i should update my pinned post and blog desc so it's clear mine doesn't indicate when i'm online? that'll be another item on the to-do list...

Hi, besties! I’m back to talk about Encanto and Encanto only because I’m tired of non-latinos/Hispanics posting their bland ass opinions on a movie they definitely did not care to understand <3 ( warning: spoilers, I guess)

1. "Abuela was evil and didn't deserve to be forgiven that quickly"

Amix, did we even watch the same movie? Because to me Alma wasn't forgiven on the spot. Not one of them said "sure abuelita don’t worry we still love you." And the thing is, in a toxic Hispanic household, you won't get an apology so easily. Alma admitted how she fucked up and that is a huge step for them as a family to start figuring out their own shit and how each member contributed to the cracks appearing. The moment where they all come together to rebuild their Casita is a perfect depiction of that; it takes days, months and years to pick up the pieces and put it back together, and maybe just then they can start healing.

Alma deserved to realise how much pain she was putting her family through and be given the opportunity to try to be better, and saying otherwise is interpreting the movie to fit your ideal ending. And the thing is, Alma had no malicious intent in her words and actions, once you know what happened to her, you notice everything she does and says is tightly tied to her traumatic past: bestie watched her town be invaded, her husband brutally murdered while holding her newborn triplets, became the leader of a whole ass new town the next morning and was probably never given the time to mourn.

And before any of y’all Abuela-haters come to me to say trauma is never an excuse: yeah, abuse can’t be justified under any circumstances, however, if you want to criticise Abuela’s character, you have to look where she is coming from. It’s not a matter of it’s fair or not, because in real life these situations most of the time are never fair to anyone involved.

2. "Omg, everyone was so mean towards Mirabel and Bruno, how could anyone allow that? That's so fucked up!"

Oh, wow, the privilege of watching a movie about intergenerational trauma and not noticing the trauma. Qusiese, chicaaa, pero no pudiese. LMAO I was going to go into how Alma, Isabela and Pepa treated Mirabel, but I feel that’ll be better left alone in their separate posts because it’s a lot. Instead I’m just going to explain why I think “We don’t talk about Bruno” was an attempt to protect Bruno from people shit-talking him even more.

It’s undeniable that the Madrigal family is obviously the equivalent of royalty in Encanto. They are a public figure and Abuela specifically works her ass off trying to maintain that image (yeah, by manipulating her family into being of service but). Because if shit went down, then she’d find herself having to flee her home again. Big yikes, nope.

Now, imagine, your youngest and only son who can see the future comes up with a prophecy about your home/family so bad that he runs away. Bruno may have done nothing wrong, but his disappearance brought a bad image to the family. So what did the family had to do to save face? Not talk about him. And more than it being a “fuck Bruno, all my homies hate Bruno” move, it is more of a “Hey, this is a sensitive topic and we as a family have decided to speak no more of it, thanks!” move, not only to cope with his absence, but to prevent townsfolk from also talking about him. It might not have been the nicest thing to do, but so was Bruno’s leaving without saying more. Please, stop infantilizing grown-ass men.

3. “The magic doesn’t make any sense”

HI, Welcome to Magical Realism! It does not need to make sense to you. It is what it is in its own world and its inhabitants accept it. If y’all can watch Marvel movies and eat that shit up as if it were the most complex worldbuilding in existence, then you can absolutely believe that miracles are a commonly accepted occurrence in this world.

What creates a miracle is not really important, because throughout the movie we’re not trying to make a new one, but to preserve the one that already Alma manifested. What determines what kind of gift each character gets is not important, or at the very least I’d think you’d be able to assume that it’s something related to their personality or a skill they excelled at. Being utterly rude, if you whine over how the magic doesn’t make any sense, I feel like you’re the type of person who wants to have every single thing explained in detail because you’re simply too lazy to use your imagination.

I find the magic in this movie very adequate to its context; in Latin-America, when you talk about a miracle it’s something of religious origin that cannot be explained by science (as opposed to English, in which it can be simply boiled down to something extraordinary). Additionally, “Milagro” is also used to refer to religious charms that can be carried on your person for protection and good luck. So, the candle serves as both types of miracles and I find that so damn cool.

Now, I’m not blindly in love with this movie to deny the fact that it definitely should’ve explored its world and characters so much more. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely one of the best movies the mouse has made in years and I do hope it gets some kind of show or whatever; it’s got the perfect elements for it.

1.) What would prevent you from following someone?

Excessive photo reblogs with minimal writing. Also pages and pages worth of ooc posts that have nothing to do with rp or aren’t interactions with other muns. If you wanna run your blog like a diary, that’s fine; I just don’t care enough about a stranger to see it day in and day out when I’m just here to write. There’s other red flags I also look out for but these are the main ones.

12.) Have you been involved in drama? Do you regret it?

I’ve had a couple heated arguments in private with gaslighters, white-guilt ridden narcs, and ignorant kids, but those ended fairly quickly. There’s maybe one altercation that I wish I handled differently but, it is what it is when you’re young and dumb. In general, I don’t regret anything since 99% of what few situations I’ve been in were due to me standing up for myself and the other party not liking that they no longer had control and had their manipulative behaviour brought to their attention.

shinsou hitoshi's more than happy to look after your cat while you're away.

he likes to converse with your catー not as in, "meow meow," more like, "pretty dull around here without y/n, huh?" he responds when it meows back, fondly stroking its fur, "yeah, i know. i miss them too."

when you ask him how they're doing over text, he'll send you photos like these:

he also brought 2 more pieces of clothing for your cat, and he's shopping online for more while you're gone

when you ask for more photos, he sends you a video of your cat pouncing on his binding cloth, and your heart melts when you hear him softly chuckling in the background.

later he sends another photo, and it's your cat with a bow on its head. it takes you a whole minute to realize the bow's the binding cloth too. 💀 was he strictly told not to use it for anything other than fighting? yes. would aizawa mind if it's for accessorizing a cat? yes. 🗿 he'd want to ask for the pictures tho

overall, hitoshi would be amazing with your cat while you're awayー enough to make you worry that your own pet would start recognizing your boyfriend as its new owner and forget about you ☹ still, you love them both to death, and it's adorable to see them being best friends.
