Okay.. so... fairly long post under the cut with the sort of background to my Sonic Underground AU!! If anyone's interested fjdgv I have thought about it a Lot lol

So basically, The background is that Eggman has definitely been up to shit since before Sonic was born lol and one of his sort of things when he I guess started out in villainy ? was he started trying to claim land and take over so that he could build his cities and theme parks and factories and what have you and rule over everything. So, after claiming some untouched land he started attacking “Mobian'' settlements, (not sure whether to stick with Mobian or what but the word gets my point across so I’m using it now sfgdh) and I guess started working his way up until he found Christmas Island, which is the small Kingdom Aleena ruled over at the time. This caused the Kingdom to fight back and started a war with Robotnik. However. Obviously the warzone was no place to be raising the Very recently born heirs to the throne (the three who would grow up to be Sonia Sonic and Manic, they might’ve had different names back then lol) and so Aleena with a Very heavy heart sent the three Far away, they had them sent to a dinky little orphanage in a fairly distant zone, intending to pick them back up when the war was over.

Unfortunately, Very early on in the triplet’s stay at the orphanage, when they were still practically babies, an unfortunate cot placement led to Manic being kidnapped sometime in the dead of night (don’t ask why they did it I just think it’s funny love and light). He was taken to a nearby city, and somehow managed to endear himself to Ferral, the leader of one of the larger sort of crime rings active there. This is where he learned to get by and live and thrive, little crime family they love each other and rag on each other so much smile smile smile.

Sonic stayed in the orphanage a lot longer than Manic, but doesn’t really remember his time there all that much. As soon as Sonic figured out how to, he ran. Ran as fast and as far as he was able. Ran until he had no idea how to get back. But he'd not a guilt on his conscience. He was free, for the first time felt truly free. He learned how to survive on his own and met a little two tailed fox cub and his life played out pretty much exactly the same as it does in the main line continuity :)

Sonia is the only one of the three who has any memory of staying in the orphanage and was the only one to leave there by regular means dgfhfg. At about five years old, she was one of a few girls from across the continent to be chosen to attend and live at an all girls school where they would grow into proper ladies™, being taught etiquette and manners and so on. She managed a fairly cushy lifestyle here but was never truly happy there. She obviously has her besties like Mindy, but it always felt far too restrictive and (figuratively) cold. So while she does do well there, she is slightly prone to getting in trouble and feels kind of belittled and invisible among her peers at times

So in the triplet’s maybe 3rd year? The war on Christmas Island ended and the Mobians were unfortunately forced to go into hiding. Aleena made it out and went into her own hiding in the form of laying low in a residential area in a nearby city, and attempted to blend in there for a few years before making the trip to finally reunite with her children. Unfortunately by the time she gets there, all three are gone :( Even though the orphanage may know where Sonia is, she feels as though she has failed all three as their mother and wouldn't be able to face any of them (despite the fact they're like. 6 year olds lol), and so retreats back to her city home.

Until, over a decade later, Aleena sees the world renowned hero Sonic the Hedgehog that she hears so much about, (maybe he’s just saved that part of the city from a badnik attack or something like that) and there is just… something about him that is so uncannily like her Bernie… His heroism and humility right down to his mannerisms, the being blue also adds to the effect. And… Aleena is not one to get her hopes up, but the chance of this being one of her missing children after all these years…

Then I’m thinking maybe, she is wearing the equivalent of the three medallions and, maybe as she gets closer to Sonic one of them has some sort of magical reaction ? or something I’m not actually sure. But something DOES confirm to Aleena that This is one of her kids oh my god!! And he’s just like his (other) mother… Aleena gets overwhelmed and ends up not talking to him. Sonic maybe notices someone in a long flowy jacket running away from the crowd, but gets distracted by the many other thankful citizens around him to really take note of it lol

This is when Aleena writes her letter to Sonic. She looks him up, tries very hard to find out where he lives. Ultimately coming up with nothing she’s like IS MY BOY HOMELESS?? But then what comes up eventually is a plethora of small garages and laboratories under the name Dr. Miles Prower and is like Oh! An apprentice maybe :) lol and so she rolls the dice and chooses one of those locations at random and hopes her message gets to him soon.

This is just the leadup to what would be the "main plot" of the AU and I do have more for it!! So if this like. Text based way of explaining my ideas is alright I can share more from the google doc if ppl are interested!! And maybe I'll doodle some stuff for it here n there who know (seems likely tho lol)

As a kid who grew up watching Sonic Underground and absolutely loving it, I have so many headcanons that could tie in Queen Aleena, and sonics siblings Manic and Sonia into the modern lore,

One being Queen Aleena allowed Sonic to be a royal diplomat, his connections with everyone is genuine and he still has his freedom to go on adventures, she understood that it was important to Sonic. His reputation as hero allows it to see who is on good standing in terms of diplomacy, in the evenings he writes letters to his family talking about his adventures and where he recommends they should go

Sonia is next in line to rule as her upbringing with nobility gives her an easier access in understanding and creating compromises/negotiating with everyone plus she can recognise angles of those who are around just to gain the upper hand

Manic is a royal inventor, constantly coming up with ways to help strengthen the conditions of the city and building/helping communities who need it most, where royal help may not reach all the time. He also helps tails with inventing, like sending him parts or helping him build machines on tight schedules, or just talking about new ways of building things.

Part of the reason sonic never really talks about them is because he’s afraid of bringing more havoc to his home by letting egg man know about them, he doesn’t want to risk it after all this time.

Tails is their little sibling and the triplets will fight anyone who says otherwise. Also listen to the Sonic Underground theme song is a whole vibe.

Alrighty, so I juust watched the documentary of the unmade Fourth DIC Show, and my God... I feel like I may actually be losing my mind.

Instinct tells me this isn’t real. This CAN’T be real. BUT IT IS.

And since I’m a generous soul I’m gonna recap, but trust me when I say you need to see it to believe it.

To start with we learn some details about what could’ve happened with Adventures and Underground!

-In AoStH, there were plans to include another main character... and in the mother of all coincidences it was going to be a sorceress named Merlina, who would be a descendant of Merlin and generally serve as a foil to Sonic! YEP, THAT’S RIGHT! WE ALMOST GOT A MERLINA BEFORE MERLINA!

-I find it interesting to note that SatAM also toyed with the idea of there being a magical hero, namely the original conception of Nate Morgan.

But anyway, while that was a bit weird, its not especially weird given what AoStH was like. Underground on the other hand... oh boy, Underground. You thought it was weird as it is? That’s nothing compared to what COULD have been.

-Sonia was initially going to be the only sibling Sonic had, and described as a ‘sexy, Jessica Rabbit’ like character while having an attitude like Sonic’s own.

-Sonic would have also had a Porcupine sidekick called ‘Quilley’, who would have a crush on Sonia. Am I having a stroke? I think I’m having a stroke.

-Instead of Sleet and Dingo, the bounty hunters in the show? Were going to be Scratch and Grounder! Okay, that’s actually kind of a neat idea, I admit it.

-Less neat though was that they would have been lead by Robotnik’s evil-er twin brother, Grotty. Yeah, you read that right. Evil-er twin brother. Named ‘Grotty’. I swear to God there was something in the water at DIC’s facilities...

-Aleena was originally going to be called “Rachel”, and Manic had the prototype name of “Edsel”.

-And evidently they were actually going to make the father of the royal hedgehogs a secondary subplot. Admittedly it would have been nice to see that one addressed, but otherwise yeah... we dodged some pretty significantly sized bullets. How insane is it that we are LUCKY to have gotten the Underground that we got?

And then there’s the unmade fourth show itself... Super Sonic Sisters. Oh, where do we even BEGIN?

-Well, we begin with the fact that they are not Sonic’s sisters. They’re his cousins. Who are twin sisters, Monica and Isabelle, who have an Odd Couple-esque dynamic going on. They live in space, on an Australia-esque asteroid. Yes, you are reading all of that correctly. No one has spiked your water. This was planned as a Sonic spinoff.

-The pair attend a high school, IN SPACE. There they are part of the school news program, IN SPACE. They also solve mysteries. IN SPACE!!!

-Their parents run a kind of interstellar truck stop/malt shop, with their mom being the mechanic and their dad being the chef.

-In addition to solving mysteries, they would also deal with Robotnik’s young nephew, Obnotnik. Obnotnik would attend the same school as them and is described as a ‘delinquent with pull’, who is their rival in the school news game.

So. Yeah. I think I finally know what it feels like to take mind altering drugs. Without taking mind altering drugs. I am having an out of body experience right now. How could anyone have thought this was a good idea. HOW? The fact that this ORIGINATED as a Sonic show rather than being repurposed from elsewhere is madness on a level I am not ready to acknowledge. I feel my eyes bleeding. I hear the call the Cthulhu.

.... I’m totally plundering at least some of this stuff for my own ends, but point of order! The DIC portion of things nearly went in a weird-ass direction that defies rational thought.

A small Drabble of Aleena being…not a good mom and Honey the cat giving body positivity after it.

//Tw: child abuse,body shaming.

Her clawed hands put more pressure into the binder making it fit more roughly in Sonic’s chest.

The smaller blue hedgehog gasped.

“M-mom? That’s too tight” The queen hummed without truly acknowledging his complain.

Sonic tried to control his breathing, so he didn’t suffocate.

Aleena went on brushing his quills, pulling a little too hard when the younger one struggled.

“Bring me the white linen shirt with the denim blue shorts, quick” The dark purple hedgehog commanded to one of the servants in the room.

She pulled Sonic up from the armchair he was sitting in.

He stumbled.

Aleena slapped him in the shoulder and he suppressed a squeak.

Servants immediately took over him, adding make-up to his face while his mother corrected his posture.

Sonic sneezed.

Aleena pinched his left shoulder.

“Quiet when I speak and stay put when I move” She ordered.

The younger one nodded.

The queen pulled his gloves off and shot him a warning glare when the blue hedgehog tried to protest.

It was something private.

He didn’t feel safe with Aleena watching them.

But he should! It was just stupid paranoia.

‘It’s my mom, it’s okay’ The hero repeated in his head.

Nonetheless, the caramel hands of the older hedgehog pressed against Sonic’s paw pads; they were a soft pink and squishy.

“Like marshmallows” Shadow had told him in one of their cuddle sessions.

“And you smell like lemon trees, reminds me of camping” Knuckles supplied.

Aleena pinched them with her claws, as of testing them. The indigo hedgehog couldn’t repressed a yell now.

There is a reason they wore gloves.

Mobians’ paw pads are sensitive.

Mom knew that. She probably thought he was stronger than average, it wasn’t on her to treat him rough.

He could take it.

She still hit him for his yelling, though.

After he was changed into the white shirt and the blue shorts, his mother put black boots in his feet and a cardigan winter cape over his head.

The fabric was soft, and it would obviously keep him warm, it was a blue pastel color with white flowers at it’s end.

The servants combed his quills into a ponytail with a light blue tie.

His mother’s petulant eyes judged from head to feet, she circled him watching him from all angles.

He winced when she raised her hand to brush his quills with her claws.

Aleena then took his face into her hands, with a gentleness Sonic didn’t know she was capable of.

Her eyes were thoughtful and almost…melancholic?

She always looked perfect, a beautiful queen for an adorable kingdom, but now her eye told another story.

She looked miserable.

“Mom…?” Sonic asked, fearful of her response.

Strangely, she did not hit him for speaking.

Aleena just blinked.

The queen’s gaze then shifted to something more judgmental and aggressive , more like herself.

“Your cheeks are chubby” She pinched him in the shoulder for the third time in the hour.

“T-they’re not that bad…” He whispered.

“Believe me, sweetheart, they are” The dark purple hedgehog growled. “You will not eat until noon, when the feast starts”

“But I didn’t even had breakfast!” Sonic said.

Aleena pulled his cape from the part of his neck, instantly making him choke.

She was taller, she was always taller, so when she pulled Sonic to her face, the hero was no longer touching the ground.

He couldn’t fight her right?

She was just a force of nature, she was his mother. He could not act against her.

He was weaker.

Stupider.

“A whole day without food is the minimum punishment for you eating like a fat pig for all these years” She finally let him go.

He coughed nastily.

The choking plus the tight binder that seemed to adjust even more over his chest was making him hyperventilate.

His eyes watered.

“If you ruin your make-up, I’ll lock you in this same room for a week” Aleena shouted.

Sonic had practice in repressing his emotions, he quickly sucked up whatever tears could have fallen and focused in regaining his breathing.

The servants left in the room adverted their sight of the poor half prince.

Aleena left, probably going to prepare the real prince and princess.

The moment she was out, the servants ran over Sonic checking his injuries.

Honey, a very important cloth designer who had been hired by his mother to keep him as elegant as possible, went straight to loosen up his binder.

Sonic actually breathed.

But then paranoia set in his heart.

“Mom will notice it’s not adjusted-“He choked.

The usually sly cat wore a less challenging face and more of a sympathetic one while she shooed him with words of comfort.

“You know what’s my number one rule when designing something for a client? The fashion expert whispered like if it was a foreign secret.

The hero shook his head, his vocal cords deciding to just not work anymore.

“For them to feel comfortable and confident in what they wear” She said.

“And I’ll make sure that no matter what your mom requests, you will always be able to run in it”

Emerald eyes turned to her, a smile forming in his muzzle.

“And your cheeks are totally adorable, boy! Don’t listen to old mouths ‘Kay?”

Sonic should have defended his mother. It was the least he could after her giving him… c’mon-Hard Lessons? A roof over his head for his first years of life?

But after the physical and emotional beating.

He giggled at Honey’s comment.

Chase-Miles the Hedgehog

The eldest pup of Sonic and Shadow. He is a speedster, and often compared with his mother, being given high and stressful expectations. Chase is friendly, but cross him and he will turn on you. He likes to hang out and help his uncle Tails in his workshop, he could make a promising engineer. He is immortal like his father.

Chase is closer with Shadow, finding his way of life easier on him. Chase isn’t too out going, preferring the safety of the shack or Tail’s workshop. Even as a baby, he showed signs of an introverted personality. He can be pessimistic, and knows that one day he will one day see his mom perish while he, his father and brother live on.

Silver the Hedgehog

The youngest pup of Sonic and Shadow. Silver has telekinetic abilities which allow him to manipulate the environment and those around him with the power of his mind. Silver was very young when his parents made this discovery and may have been the reason for Sonic’s lethargic and ill tendencies during pregnancy.

Silver tends to be naive and sweet, considering his age it’s normal, but can become burdensome, mostly for his older brother who has to bail him out of traps. He’s optimistic nonetheless. He is immortal like his father.

Silver has a slightly closer relationship with his mother, seeing him be a hero is something he wants to live up to.

I also have a theory, well more a head cannon.

Sticks is Sonic’s cousin- it’s why he is on the island. Sonic didn’t know where to go after he left his royal duties. But soon found his cousin on his travels and so stayed. He also met a young fox he took under his wing and practically raised him.

Sticks’ tragic backstory and why she’s feral, because I’m rotten.

Sticks’ father was a royal hedgehog, Queen Aleena’s brother- before she was queen- he fell in love with one of his sister’s ladies, a badger named… something… they courted for a long time and one day sort approval of the queen after they had a baby. This is where tragedy strikes. The queen does not approve, and the lady badger is banished with the child. Distraught, the lady badger went insane, forcing her daughter to fend for herself doing what she could to survive. It maybe why Sticks is paranoid, fearing that the royal family and government are following her.

Fifteen years later, she meets her cousin, Sonic when he is on the run. He does everything he can to protect her, even when her paranoia becomes more than anyone can bare.

PLEASE TELL ME MORE ABT YOUR SONIC UNDERGROUND REBOOT I CRAVE CONTENT FOR THE SILLY HEDGEHOG SIBLINGS (if it’s okay with you ofc)

Honestly I dont want to share a ton online cause I still have delusions plans of making it A Thing but the quick notes on what I believe needs to be done:

More characters from Sonic canon (esp including tails!!!), but at the same time the triplets– specifically their feelings and dynamic– have to be a very major part of the show.

More worldbuilding, including explaining the medallions and their magic. Adding in more Sonic lore, we can also explain how the chaos emeralds, master emeralds and gods fit into this.

Cutting the prophecy aspect. First of all it cuts out any and all stakes– "yeah, we know it'll happen eventually, so why care?"– and it breaks a lot of motives. Several heroes/villains would only do things because "the prophecy said so" instead of having proper motivations on their own. While prophecies can work in some stories, it doesn't work in all of them, and this is one I don't think it works well with.

Aleena needs to be more offscreen. She's been on the run for fifteen years and is a mysterious, ghostly figure, yet she seems to be always there for her kids. In that, having her narrate each episode doesn't work, as it makes the audience think she's more present than the siblings do– and as they're the main characters, their perspective is important. If you hear Aleena every episode, you start to get annoyed at the siblings for talking about missing her, because your brain is saying "she's right there." Aleena should be more of a mystery, and also, as an addition:

I think the sibs should have complicated feelings about their mom. It felt like in Underground, once they discovered they were Aleena's kids, she became their awesome mom who they miss dearly, even though they have no memories of her, and Sonia is the only one who seems to miss her foster parent, as Sonic and Manic never mention theirs. Especially if we take out the prophecy aspect, we have a lot of conclusions they could come to: she wanted us to be safe and noblely gave us up, she didn't want to take care of us and abandoned us, she could've visited us at any time and didn't, etc. We know Aleena loves her kids. They have really no reason to believe that, so what do they think and how does the feeling change overtime, especially as she dips in and out dropping them hints and saving them in battles? Does that make them feel like she's watching over them, or that she is simply choosing not to talk to them?

More focus on the rebellion/story aspect. Underground went into that towards the end, but it needed to happen more. Less episodic stories (though character development episodes are ofc necessary as well!!!! don't think i'm that bitch) and more building up to the rebellion trying to overthrow Robotnik's government.

If we go with a more dark aspect, we need a darker Robotnik. If we go with a lighter show, we need a lighter Robotnik. SatAM!Robotnik would not work in Sonic Boom, just as Boom!Eggman would not work in SatAM. SatAM Robotnik is the perfect villain for a show with a high-stakes rebellion of desperate, traumatized children. Boom Eggman is the perfect villain for a workplace comedy, not really posing much of a threat and being more sympathetic and comedic. Underground Robotnik seemed to be very comedic, but then they also had him, you know, practically execute the siblings' foster families. It creates a dissonance. Is he going to be the bumbling boss trying to get his minions to do something right for once, or is he the merciless dictator who kills his political enemies? For Underground, I personally think the latter would work better as a villain, seeing as the plot is similar to SatAM's setup and requires him to be tactical enough to overtake at least one kingdom, if not a whole planet, and hold that power for fifteen years. And in doing that– we have to either cut or completely redo Sleet and Dingo. If Robotnik is a tactical villainous mastermind, why keep two bumbling idiots who can't catch three children for forty episodes? Why not just roboticize them and use the robots, or outsource? Snively at least had some competence and a familial connection, what do Sleet and Dingo have? Bad character designs tbh.

Speaking of which, redesigns. I think we all agreed on that.

On the Planet Mobius, all is quiet. The population of Humans and Mobians alike live in harmony. Or so it seems. Hey guys. No art today, but I’m here to talk about an idea for a Sonic Reboot that I conceptualized.

It was originally titled Sonic Neoverse. This was made to, well, fix many of the problems plaguing the franchise. I had this 2 years before Sonic Frontiers came out/announced. Most of the events and characters were lifted from the games, and comics, but with a few major adjustments. Keep in mind that this topic will be in two parts. In Part 1 I will be discussing about the characters in the reboot, and then I will talk about the world and setting in Part 2.

Let’s start with the face of the entire franchise, Sonic the Hedgehog!

Sonic’s personality would be a mix between Adventure, Toon, and a bit of modern.He Would have his family back. It is composed of Aleena, Manic, and Sonia from underground. Because he had two separate moms, I did some alterations and made Bernie the hedgehog Aleena’s daughter. 

After his parents disappeared, the Oracle of Delphius sent the triplets to their respective adoptive parents. Sonic’s caretaker would be Longclaw much like in her movie incarnation.

Knuckles may at times not be the guardian of the Master Emerald because……. The Echidnas from Archie would be present in the neoverse; therefore, Knuckles is no longer the last of his kind. Locke, Knuckles’s Father will be the one to look after the Master emerald.

Amy Rose would be drastically different in Neoverse. I turn Amy Rose into a tomboy in this version. I also had her like a female counterpart to Sonic similar to how Batgirl is a female counterpart to Batman. Changing her would mean getting rid of her Piko Piko hammer. I have to come up with many alternative weaponry for this new version of Amy from dual blades to axel’s disc weapons from Kingdom Hearts. The latter that I kind of gone with to coincide with her ‘surname’.

Silver the Hedgehog would be a lot smarter and wiser in Neoverse unlike his original incarnation (‘A well thought out strategy’).

Shadow the Hedgehog would be the same as he was in Sonic Adventure 2 but he’ll later have a personality like Jak from Jak and Daxter.

E-102 Gamma? Well, I’ve had him rebuilt by Rotor and teamed with the Freedom Fighters along with Big the Cat and Amy. It was to match the main cast of Sonic Adventure DX. and since Cream was part of the Freedom Fighters in Archie, Team Rose had been merged with it.

The freedom fighters would return in the neoverse having a massive role during eggman’s invasion of Mobius. Most of the characters like Tangle from IDW, Tekno from Fleetway, and scrapped characters like Tiara Boobowski would be brought back in Neoverse. Talking about an all-star franchise….. that would never be realized as the Sonic Franchise is as good as it is. 😔😔😔😔😔

Every original Sonic media had to have some new things right? Well the secret is that the entire Sonic Neoverse all started with remaking Sonic 06. By that, I mean the one character everyone seemed to dislike, Princess Elise.

What I did with Elise was that she was going to be much more serious and warrior-like than her original self (In a natural way). Unlike her original counterpart, She has a deep hatred for the humans/overlanders especially when Eggman attacked her kingdom. Elise in Neoverse is now a Mobian Sphinx, a mythical lion with wings and can shoot energy blasts. She’s also physically strong given that her lion race were warriors. I will discuss more of Neoverse Elise’s history for part 2.

With the heroes said and done. Time to talk about the villains of the neoverse starting with Dr. Eggman

In Neoverse, Dr. Eggman was formerly a GUN member when he fell into his own Retro-Orbital Chaos Compressor. It corrupted his mind making him hostile toward the Mobians, and during the Overlander war, he joined the opposing faction. When the war was over. He overthrew King Acorn and launched the attack on Mobius. At one point he retired from his quest and hid for 2 years. After he decided to get back on his quest again after learning that the creature (Chaos) was a powerful creature.

All of his henchmen from Metal Sonic to Dingo would be in the Neoverse.

Time for some other villains beside Eggman himself.

Starting with Zavok. Instead of being, well, generic, I’ve turned him into a massive manchild who would fly into fits of rage when he doesn’t get his way.

I saw the Zeti or the deadly six as Bowser Koopalings knockoffs, so I did some adjustments to make them standout. The Zeti would be more reptilian with a primitive, cavemen-like personality.

Mephiles and Iblis would return and both would fuse into Solaris like in the original instead Solaris would be along the lines of Darksied from DC.

Ifrit from Sonic Rivals would join a reborn Mephiles’s team. The two along with Iblis would become a more powerful Solaris.

Remember Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric? Remember its antagonist, Lyric the Last Ancient? Well, I’ve made him a member of the order of Ixis, a group led by Ixis Naugus. He specializes in necromancy. When he was accidentally revived by Eggman, he used parts of the doctor’s aiding Egg Pawns to create a temporary body similar to his original counterpart.

Now for everyone’s hated villain, Infinite the Jackal. Rather than a generic shadow wannabe, He would have been a disgruntled scientist from Soleanna. ‘wrongfully’ rejected by Elise (due to his poor research). Infinite would later join Eggman in his effort to overthrow Elise.

Emperor Metallix would return in a saga based on the Metal Virus arc. About that along with the Zombots? Stay tuned for part 2.

Mammoth Mogul would also return along with Ixis Naugus, who would have ties to only Sonic’s missing parents but also the Phantom Ruby from Sonic Mania………..

Some people were unaware that in the Archie reboot era, Dr. Eggman had Egg Bosses, a group of robotic used Mobians who controlled each of Sonic’s world’s regions. These guys would now work for Mammoth Mogul rather than Eggman. Like their original incarnations, they are assigned to the regions of Mobius for global domination. Some members like Nephthys the Vulture and Thunderbolt the Chinchilla would be excluded from the group.

Nephthys would be among the heroes along with being the leader of the Midesta Freedom Fighters (AKA The Desert Raiders From Archie). I based Thunderbolt off of a particular Sonic fan who wants to ‘merge dimensions’…….

Great Battle Kukku/Battle Lord Kukku would be a greedy corporate boss who tried to deforest Coco island so he could build an amusement park. He would do the same to the Babylon Gardens.

Lord Mordred Hood from Archie would become Amy Rose’s worst enemy. Why? We shall find out in part 2.

Now lastly the final two villainous groups. That is The Nocturnus Clan, and the Dark Legion from Archie.

 That one point, because of the similarities these two had, I decided to mix the two together, that means Imperator Ix may be Dimitri’s ancestor. Dimitri himself would be Enerjak like his Archie Counterpart. Kragok would be the legion’s leader and Dr. Finitevus would return as a member of the clan.

Most of the characters I’ve reimagined seemed to be a lot better than we think though the other half remained the same as they were. I have intentionally left out major details of the Neoverse characters like Ixis Naugus. These will all be explained in part two.

Tails in Sonic Underground Headcanons

Companion piece to this.

It’s the anniversary of Robotnik’s takeover of Mobius. He’s increased and upgraded security measures to finally capture and roboticize the Hedgehog triplets, and preferably Queen Aleena too, because what could be better than taking their minds and souls on the exact date he took everything else from them, with his great big celebration of that being the last thing they ever see? The triplets try to be careful, but reveal themselves to stop Robotnik doing something awful, like executing protesters or crushing a homeless person beneath his giant parade tank. They’ve been distracted with grief and anger the whole day, so they’re just uncoordinated enough to give the SWATbots an edge and are quickly overwhelmed by their sheer numbers.

Suddenly another SWATbot approaches from a different direction and starts attacking the ones that have got them. They don’t know what’s going on, but aren’t gonna complain. The chaos and confusion allows several other civilians and protesters to leave the scene too. After escaping, the triplets wonder who reprogrammed the SWATbot. If it were a fellow Resistance member they would have heard about it in advance, as Robotnik’s coding are notoriously difficult to mess with - so difficult that Manic and Cyrus combined haven’t been able to manage it.

The answer appears out of an alleyway: an eight-year-old yellowish orange fox boy clutching a tablet, with… two tails? He assumes responsibility for repurposing the SWATbot and sending it to rescue them, though modestly and bashfully, being more excited to meet the triplets, his idols, and wanting to know if they’re okay. He introduces himself as Miles Prower. Sonic recognizes that last name, to Sonia and Manic’s further confusion. Miles explains the story of his parents.

Amadeus and Rosemary Prower were perhaps the greatest engineers in the country, friends of the royal family and Cyrus’s father Lionel, using their technology for the betterment of the people. Robotnik stole many of their concepts and devices when he took the throne. They opposed his coup and were among the founding members and leaders of the Resistance, which led Robotnik to erase all public data on them and give himself credit for everything they did. Hence why only Sonic knows of them - Uncle Chuck taught him. But he never knew they had a kid. Miles was born and raised in secret. When he was just four, his parents were captured and roboticized. They had barely enough time to leave him at an inconspicuous children’s home and give him a tablet, named the Miles Electric in his honour, that contained a complete database of both their research and inventions; and the family’s personal records, e.g. Rosemary and Amadeus’s wedding photos, Miles’s sonogram photos, birth certificate and baby pictures, voice recordings they left for him, etc.. The Miles Electric was its namesake’s closest friend. It was almost like his parents were still there with him... almost.

Unfortunately, most of the other kids scorned and bullied him for his mutant second tail, prodigious intelligence and shy disposition. So much so that by the age of seven he decided he’d be better off alone and ran away, living on the streets, stealing food and money to survive and overall doing his best to stay out of people’s way. His parents had been heroes, and they’d fallen. He could never hope to be like them. There was no point he could see in trying to be brave, since in his experience it would only get you punished. He was similar to Nine in Sonic Prime, but less hostile and more plain sad.

The Sonic Underground pulled him out of that misery. These new heroes brought the Resistance unprecedented success and support, and as the true heirs to Aleena’s throne, embodied the hope that Mobius could be saved. That things could get better. Miles became their devoted fan and has been following their progress for months. But chronically insecure, he wanted to prove that he was worth their time before meeting them. Last week he got a chance. In the aftermath of one of the triplets’ battles, he figured out how to reprogram a SWATbot Sonia had wrecked to think him its master and Robotnik’s forces enemies. He finished working on it it that day and unleashed it upon seeing the triplets in danger.

The triplets adopt him as their fourth sibling in their heads on the spot. Queen Aleena, who’s spent the day fighting through Robotnik’s forces to reach her children to comfort them and tell them that they haven’t lost everything, arrives shortly afterward and also internally adopts him as her fourth child within their first conversation, remembering his parents fondly. Miles nearly faints because the queen likes him.

The fugitive queen and her heirs can’t be in one place for long, and Robotnik gleefully interrupts the family bonding. A battle breaks out. Miles discovers his ability to fly in order to save Sonic’s life. Sonic starts calling him Tails, which delights him. Aleena even stays the night. It’s the best night Tails can remember; not a bad end to the anniversary of the worst day of the kingdom’s history. Before she reluctantly departs the next morning, she assures Tails he doesn’t need to earn his place in the family - he already has it.

The triplets shower Tails with lots of love and praise and encourage him to respect himself more, slowly building his confidence. They each know the agony it is to lose your parents, especially Sonic, and help him process it.

His relationship with Sonic is much the same as in the games.

He and Manic exchange street kid stories and deeply empathize with each other over the experiences they’ve shared that the others haven’t. Manic wants to mentor Tails in engineering, but the little prodigy is already his equal and even teaches him a few things. They also have flying races, comparing Manic’s hoverboard with Tails’s propulsion. Training and fun!

Sonia gushes about how adorable Tails’s soft, fluffy tails are when they first meet. She then regularly washes and brushes them and teaches him how to, since she’s the only sibling with any idea of thorough fur care. She even gives him decorations for them (primarily blue to match his eyes). He loves this. He’d often been told that his mutation made him an unlovable freak, and coming to consider it beautiful is a different kind of self-esteem to just realizing it can be useful. Her advanced education, unique among the triplets, lets her have more intellectual conversations with him too.

Due to his love of technology; head for plans, details and precision; and supportiveness of his older siblings, he frequently finds himself managing the logistics of the Sonic Underground’s performances, especially electronic elements like lighting design and sound system configuration and operation. His mindful personality makes him great at it, and he’s just fine not being in the spotlight. Soon theatrical technician is his official role in the band.

He bonds with Cyrus over their common interest in science. They can talk technobabble and work on some machine or software together for hours.

He had never left the inner city before he started travelling with the Resistance, so experiencing the wonders of nature fills him with awe. He is afraid of thunder and lightning, though.

He diligently keeps a multimedia log of his time in the Resistance on the Miles Electric, in the hopes that when his parents are themselves again he can tell and show them what he’s been up to and accomplished in their absences.

He eventually invents the deroboticizer, which hugely hastens Robotnik's overthrow. Aleena gives him a special medal for it. He's as humble as ever and doesn't wear the medal in public, instead framing it in his new bedroom in the palace, but everyone else is more than happy to brag about his accomplishments on his behalf. Especially Amadeus and Rosemary. Who also catch up with him on all their missed quality time, and hugs.

Golden Sonadow Au

A royalty AU where Sonic, Sonia and Manic are part of one of Mobius's several royal families. Their mother, Queen Aleena, is trying to establish an alliance with the Emporer of the alien race, the Dark Arms. When the Black Doom comes to Mobius to discuss the treaty, he brings his own children, Shadow, Maria and Eclipse.

Sonia and Eclipse are the heir apparents of their kingdoms, but Sonic is known far and wide as the hero of Mobius, and Shadow is the general of the Dark Arms army (hence why he's almost always seen in complete armor).

Amy and Knuckles are knight's of Queen Aleena’s court, and Tails is the royal sibling's adopted brother. Blaze is a visiting princess, asked to the Mobian court as backup should anything go wrong, but also there to visit her girlfriend Amy. Silver is her entourage and friend. Rouge is a lady of the court whoes hobbies include treasure hunting, teasing certain echidna knights, and befriending emotionally repressed alien princes.

As Shadow is forced into proximity with all these strangers, he finds himself making unlikely friends and falling for a certain blue hedgehog.

One of the more brain-melting takes I've seen about this situation is some people going up in arms about people referring to characters like Whisper, Tangle and Lanolin as OCs because "SoJ approved their creation, so calling them that is disrespectful". Oh, and Silver was apparently also called "a crappy OC" when 06 was only released, which somehow justifies both him being treated like an idiot now and Lanolin acting like a primo bitch. That's on top of some still trying to argue that she just "doesn't know yet" and that we'll all be sorry for her when Mimic finally reveals himself. Well, the humbling better be GoAnimate Calliou level then if she's allowed to be this much a capital B right now.

"OC" is not a slur. They are Original Characters in the sense that they're original to IDW. Would they be just as defensive towards, say, Queen Aleena? Or Wade?

And yes, I'm sorry, but that makes Lanolin of an inferior tier compared to game characters, in the same way IDW is secondary at best compared to the games. It also doesn't help that Lanolin had barely an introduction before this arc, so 1) we just don't know her enough, and she's coming off really badly; 2) we had 17 years to come to respect Silver as part of the main cast. (also 3) Flynn himself seems to think Silver is nothing but an easily flustered idiot, so it makes his treatment in this arc even more unfair, because now you see the authorial intent)

"she just doesn't know yet" exactly, she doesn't know anything. So why did she treat Silver, renowned hero, like an incompetent moron, talking down to him as if she were his mom? Why did she refuse to listen to his concerns and barely interrogated Duo on the events in that canyon? Why did she dismiss Whisper's accusations with "oh you just want to harass him" instead of listening to the girl who knows Mimic the best of all? I'm not saying to immediately believe them too, but at least lend an ear!

If we knew Lanolin, all this behavior would come off as forced to allow the plot to stall long enough for the Big Reveal whenever it's meant to happen. But we don't know Lanolin, so this is who she is: rude, conceited, unfair and hypocritical (lol at her saying that they should work as a team, when she did nothing but act like a boss).

Like.

What is this expression? Silver has apparently wounded an innocent guy so hard that he fainted, and she makes that rolling eyes face and thumb pointing? Like she's merely exasperated by Silver's stupidity? Not concerned about Duo's wellbeing? This is the shit that piles up and makes her so hard to side with her!

The mandatory apology won't cover all of this. It's not even fun to bet on it. Lanolin will at best call herself stupid for trusting the newbie, but she will not think back on how she treated Silver and Whisper. After all, this is the same story where Tangle was allowed to steal the name of Whisper's dead comrades and reveal her trauma to strangers because "they sounded cool", and Whisper ended up apologizing for daring to have PTSD over it.

There’s this moment after Aleena let out her anger on Sonic when she feels guilty about it, she’s usually the one who bandages his wounds, even when she was the one to cause it. Sometimes Sonic ends up falling asleep and Aleena holds him and sings to him.

Is so bittersweet and hypocritical.

But that’s what got Sonic thinking that she can do better, his whole hero complex tells him to keep trying to make her heart come out.

He longs for his freedom but he doesn’t want to ignore someone who, in his eyes, needs help.
