Even though Mac has no scientific background, I still can't stop myself from imagining her in conversation with some of your OCs, like complaining about Headmaster with Mai or hearing all of Emily's divorce tea. Maybe they meet because Mac inadvertendly tripped the radiation detector where Mai works and sent everything into high alert.

YES I feel like she and Mai would get along well!!!! (I promise I'll make a more fleshed out coherent profile for Mai eventually I'm just super busy). And the radiation thing is totally possible especially since Mai is a chemical engineer and facilities that work with radioactive materials often have detectors at the entrances and exits to ensure you don't track radioactive particles out of the facility. You also have to wear a personal detector in the facility so I can just imagine Mai holding her detector up to Mac, it going off, and then going silent when she pulls it back, and immediately suspecting her of stealing radioactive material from one of the labs (obviously she did not but it takes Mai a while to figure this out since humans aren't usually radioactive).

Unfortunately, Emily finds out Mac is radioactive and doesn't let her within six feet of Alexandria because she's a baby and she doesn't need radiation to stunt her growth. She is willing to give her all the tea from a distance though.

... ok so i was actually working on this a few months back.. I wrote a very long draft, then I saved it and came back to it, cringed myself out and just. never posted it,,, but after a few months since I figured that its just because I went too deep into it right off the bat instead of giving a ""small"" summary so here we go ATTEMPT 2!!!!

(also if you're an oomf, you're a part of the campaign and you know what orange spoilers mean then do NOT read further pretty please bats my eyelashes at you) AND PROFESSOR LAYTON SPOILERS

So when I talk about campaign Des, I'm referring to a version of Descole that I've roleplayed for almost 5 years now (which is INSANE to me . has it been that long??? whar??? since when??? it's still 2019 is it not????)

The campaign hook is that it's essentially a mass isekai/amnesia plot; Your blorbo from some fandom gets sent into this world patchworked from other universes and whatnot, and they have to figure out their past whilst also finding out how to get back home. Super cheesy stuff on paper ngl, if you read it on some tv series' synopsis you'd probably skip

But its stupid fun to be a bit silly and have Jean Descole from the professor layton series interact with The Mario from the paper mario series and its a guilty pleasure :]

So as for a summary as to what happened over the 5 years (and then I can clarify on any points if anybody is curious (cricket noises));

To clarify who Descole is in this campaign, he only remembers bits of his life in regards to the canon/campaign rp. He remembers having a wife and daughter, but he doesn't remember that they're dead. He remembers his parents getting kidnapped and having to give away his brother, but he doesn't remember what happened to him after that. He remembers bits of his crimes as Descole, but never why other than for either the Azran or Targent. He's right in hindsight, but it's not he's expecting in the present time. He doesn't remember Raymond at all :( poor guy

He also accidentally adopted a young Trucy Wright (like... around 7-8 years old?) because her father is nowhere to be found and his group is actually nuts with close to no responsible adults. ... Actually why don't I talk about them for a sec;

He ended up in a party of like... 9-10 people and yes that is just as insane as it sounds. Some characters would join or leave the party but it has consistently been 7 characters attending excluding Descole. and yes they're all played by different people except mario who's played by the host, so thats like. 8 players at the table at one time

Anyway so this party is pretty much the source of most of his trauma in the campaign funnily enough. One of them blackmails him about his past and then tries to turn the rest of the group against him (meanwhile he dont know SHIT !!! given the amnesia situation), Descole gets defensive and accidentally fans the flames which ends up in the greatest betrayal for him;

When that person shot him in front of the entire group, both friends and foes alike, and they all turned their heads away from him as he bled onto the snow.

I'd love to get further into the party's hijinks(?), how the party came to be, and ultimately where they are now but that's the bare minimum you need to know (and I'd love to answer anything about them!)

Anyway, it's still unknown to this day how this one thing happened, but it's heavily implied to be because of psychological stress mixing with a third secret ingredient; Sometime during all of this, Descole kept finding himself in a room in his sleep-- And often his sleep was plagued by unspeakable nightmares, so this uneventful yet cozy room would've been a comfortable break for him...

... If not for the fact that Desmond lived there, too.

So Desmond is played by the fucking amazing host too and he's apparently a manifestation of his subconscious, and Descole REALLYYYY didn't like that (very much weirded him out, especially since Desmond was extremely blunt and near emotionless; he'd try and give advice but Descole was super nuh-uh about it)

His unease around his subconscious was enough to where he tried to sleep deprive himself to prolong seeing that guy + having nightmares, which that went well (he almost legitimately died lol)

As they have more chances to genuinely talk, their relationship changes. For better or for worse?... Can get further into that if anybody asks lol

Oh one more thing, because the canon roleplay took super long to have sessions, some players opted to have non-canon roleplays to fill in the gaps of time... Which ended up becoming their own side-campaigns that the host would sometimes join in as well. In fact the host has like... A few non-canon campaigns that he's running, and to be honest there's a few non-canon campaigns I end up thinking about a lot

You might've seen the terms "SS", "Chamber RP" or "Persona RP" in my tags and those are some of the non-canon campaigns. Right now we're focused on the canon rp and Chamber RP, which Chamber serves as a tutorial/introduction for a huge overhaul of the ttrpg system we use. We're still in Act I of canon, but Act II is VERY soon which will be using the new system.

SS; Player hosted, everybody fights an evil version of themselves that doesn't have amnesia while trying to take down an international cooperation. This is super fun because Descole in this one finally remembers WHY he did all of those terrible criminal things in the past...

Chamber RP; Host's campaign, amnesia is reversed; You remember your canon counterpart but not the campaign memories... But this doesn't last long as memories of the after starts to seep in. In a similar vibe of the Zero Escape series, you have to find a way out of a sci-fi laboratory while carrying the metaphorical torch of your forgotten hundred other attempts.

Persona RP; Host's campaign; In stark contrast it's super slice of life-y most times lol. Des gets a job as a teacher in this one??? It's set almost 3 years in the future of the canon campaign and as the name implies is SUPER Persona based. There's a strange other plane of existence that supposedly has the answers as to why they have amnesia... And the serial murders that's been going around town.

Anyway I'm definitely leaving out big details for the sake of brevity but I'd be happy to answer anything and thank you if you've read this far!! finally feels good to get this all out ngl

hi! im not entirely sure if ill actually do anything with bread but i saw your posts and im interested in trying it out (especially since i need stuff to help me where im at mentally). i havent really done any baking before (except for store-bought mix brownies and cookies) and my cooking skills are abysmal, but id love to have bread of my own anyhow. do you know of some good resources to help me start? some advice too maybe?

HI YES OF COURSE!!!! this is the instagram account that helped me figure out sourdough, i would reccomend watching a bunch of her vids because the way she explains it is super easy to understand!!

how to make a sourdough starter:

you will need: a jar (remove the rubber seal to allow air in), an elastic band, kitchen scales, flour, water, honey, as well as something to stir with like a spoon or knife!

DAY 1: mix 50g flour, 50g water, and a teeny bit of honey in a jar. weighing is more accurate than using cups so that's the best way to measure out the ingredients!! i like to use a knife to stir personally. put a teeny bit of honey on the tip of the knife, that's all you'll need!! the sugar from the honey helps the yeast grow faster (or something. idk)

DAY 2: stir the mixture!

DAY 3: discard half of the starter. add 50g flour, 50g of water and a tiny bit of honey, and mix. around this time is when you wanna put an elastic band on the jar at the same level as the starter, to help measure how much it rises!! it won't rise much at this stage but you might start to see some bubbles :)

DAY 4: discard half of the starter, add 50g flour and 50g and mix!

repeat the steps of day 4 until around day 10-14 - by this time the starter should double in size a few hours after feeding!! around day 7 to 9 it will smell HORRIBLE like you won't be able to sniff it without gagging but that's normal dw. when it gets to the point where it doubles in size after feeding it won't smell so bad and you can use it to bake!!

at room temperature you should feed the starter every day (discard half, add 50g water and 50g flour, mix) but at cooler temperatures it won't need feeding as often so you can keep it in the fridge and feed once a week instead!!

when you've had your starter for a couple weeks, i recommend saving some discarded starter in a plastic bag and putting it in the freezer - this way if your starter ever gets ruined you have some of your original starter saved!! you can let it thaw and feed as normal and it will come back to life within a few days :D the only times you'll really need to throw ur starter out is if it gets moldy which is pretty uncommon, or if you forget to feed it for a while and it gets super stinky. at which point restarting with the frozen starter is best

you can bake pretty much anything that uses flour/yeast using ur starter!! my fave thing to make is a super simple loaf of bread!

you'll need 500g flour, 250g water, 150g of the sourdough starter, 25g olive oil and 10g salt. i also usually add something like 20g of sugar bc it helps the dough rise faster!! mix it all up and cover with a tea towel and let it rise for around 6 to 8 hours (you can feed your starter at the same time and use that as a measure for when the dough will be ready!! once the starter has doubled the dough will be risen)

once the dough has risen, knead it on a floured surface. my fave way to knead it is twisting towards the middle, rotate & repeat (i hope this makes sense) you should feel the dough getting tighter as u fold it!!

baking in a pot with a lid helps keep the moisture in and stops ur crust from getting too hard!! i cook the bread in a greased ceramic pot for about an hour on a lowish temperature around 150 degrees celsius, and then about another 20 mins without the lid to let the crust crisp up!!

it definitely takes some trial and error to get ur bread looking good, especially bc each starter is slightly different and unique so you might have to adapt certain things to help ur starter thrive!! for example i've found that my starter likes being fed more, so i usually mix about 120g of flour and water instead of 50g!! but it's really just a matter of seeing what works for you and ur starter ^_^

yong came relatively easy to me, if it wasn't obvious i did rip gaming from g*nshin's hoodie. i thought the lion hood was Adorable and freaking perfect for what i had in mind for hos character. since the og notes said the fire kingdom is loosely Chinese inspired i basically just kept that. i mashed tgt a buncha diff dynasties though sorry for how inconsistent i was... i think he looks Okay. anyways i changed yongs role a bit, ill explain why im adjusting some of their roles later but i kept yong as the Jinx Type character. hes the eldest in his family and has a buncha younger siblings, hes a lion dancer and does performances w his family/siblings. he rly like special effects n keeps tryna incorporate his fireworks into their performances (it flops and he has to sew up the dmg) ill explain more of yongs role in another post maybe shrugs... miss nuru was a bit of a struggle for me i might share my full design process with her coz i did a Bunch of mockups for her😭😭😭... i didnt have a specific country of reference for her but i chose to make her vaguely south asian inspired. i also really wanted to keep the sheer fabric w the star / constellation map. i love that idea its so cute so shes still technically the navigator. but she also wields a sword too, fencing or whatever. Hugo slippery guy, if a brick is thrown at him as hes running hes gonna try n run faster to shatter it, his mindset is Run Run Run! i think hes relatively agile too but yeah mostly a Speedster. i think he n varian got no Physical strength varian maybe just like A little coz Farm boy but I rly doubt quirin is making him do a Lotta heavy lifting. yong has incredible stamina and agility because hed a performer. nuru is the strongest coz this team would literally Flop without a proper Offense😭... i think varian n hugo r able to outwit plenty of their opponents but i think nuru is pretty good in a fight, same w yong. he's the character i'm playing in a playtest campaign of the absolutely mesmerizing sapphicworld, an in-development ttrpg!!! and if i'm going to be talking about cookie i feel like i HAVE to say i think a huge amount of her charm and dazzle and charisma comes directly from the charm and dazzle and charisma of the setting i created her for. i know i am laying it on really thick right now but that is on purpose. i want, desperately and unashamedly, for this game to get really popular bc 1. it's genuinely that good. and it's not even DONE yet and 2. i want everyone to get into it so that everyone will make sapphicworld characters and then i'll get to see everyone's sapphicworld characters.

SO a lot of the info/tidbits i haven't shared about cookie are i guess gameplay-specific stuff... his title (which is like a class/playbook) is "The Noble Sweetheart," though in sapphicworld "nobility" no longer has anything to do with wealth or class, and is instead entirely about amassing a court purely via devotion/popularity; her subculture (which is like, Who You Hang Out With; drifters, goths, poets, debauchers, cowpokes, etc) is Babe; and her kind (which is like ancestries but in sapphicworld is really just like, a physical form, which u can change more or less at will) is Lunarthrope, which is basically a werewolf!! or more broadly a furry, since u always look like whatever were-animal you are 24/7. just MORE at night, tho i suppose i don't represent that aspect much in my cookie art... ANYWAY i am restraining myself from just sitting here and like. transcribing her entire character sheet. but basically what all this means is that cookie's role in the world (at least at the beginning of the campaign) is "Professionally — no, VOCATIONALLY Hot Person who everyone loves so so so so so so much." cookie really enjoys this role.

he's named cooking with gorgeous because he's an avid cook, and he wants to share that with you, and he's gorgeous!! though honestly the cooking hasn't ended up as important to his character as it was when i first came up with him, lol — but my initial concept was kind of like, what's the equivalent of a bouncy normie recipe blogger/lifestyle influencer but in the context of the lush horny trans deathless psychedelic universe of sapphicworld. and it's cooking with gorgeous, a doggirl dyke with big blue boobs (six of them!!) who is so devastatingly cute and darling that a bunch of people just kind of pledge their fealty to him for no real reason other than he feeds them. and is cute

also her name is def influenced by the fantastic names of many canon sapphicworld npcs! like, quick example list of some npc names off the top of my head: the booty commie, death cybernetic, princess eureka!, the culinary goof (whom cookie dislikes. btw.), pizza friday (whom cookie loves!!!)

cookie is very very determined, and she's ALMOST always very confident. even when she isn't feeling confident, she's still very good at forcing herself to keep putting one foot in front of the other — maybe just while screaming or crying or uncontrollably barking or at least very ardently complaining. he has a tendency to be spoiled and, like, tactless-via-obliviousness, so sometimes he can be grating to interact with, and he has a petty/vindictive streak; but in general he's an AGGRESSIVELY kind person and usually aims all his shrill, cheerful stubbornness directly toward the goal of refusing to accept anything but the best for everyone.

at the beginning of our campaign cookie has JUST received a brand new castle!!!! (chateau gorgeous.) which he doesn't actually "own" bc, remember, no wealth or class in sapphicworld, but he's the ENTHUSIASTIC new caretaker and is chomping at the bit to renovate it so ppl can live there and he can throw a bunch of magnificent parties and basically continue living exactly as he has been, But Even More Fabulous. obviously this is exactly when the main plot threat of the campaign shows up and spoils everything and compels cookie to go on his First Ever Adventure!!!!!! she HAS to save the world otherwise NOBODY will be able to go to the first big party at chateau gorgeous :((((

🎀 george desperately wants to resurrect The Dog-Lich, an entity that once ruled over all beasts from its palace on the moon but was murdered and torn to pieces in a cosmic war far in the past. her attitude towards this desire is 50% devoted lunar cultist, 50% parasocially obsessive twitter stan

🎀 this isn't really a cookie fact but going back to how his title is The Noble Sweetheart — just for a glimpse at party composition, his fellow party members' titles are The Intimate Scholar, The Tentacle Advocate, and The Tw*nk Controversial (the * is the canon spelling).

^ aforementioned tw*nk. its name is Mwah ("pronounced like the kiss you blow at someone you just fucked over"). mwah is played by @/squiddelyfather on twitter!

🎀 mwah and cookie used to be very, very tight, BEFORE mwah became the tw*nk controversial. now that it's so.... you know.... controversial, well. they're still very close, but it has gotten a little stilted and weird (and watching them slowly un-weird it together as the campaign goes on has been one of my fav roleplay experiences ever honestly)

🎀 cookie's other adventuremates, skarligge and delaryn, are both very indulgent towards him. delaryn acts the most grumpy/dismissive about it but is honestly sometimes the worst about spoiling cookie out of anyone in the party (skarligge's player is twt@/clown_dream and delaryn's is twt@/glaiveguisarme and hey while im at it our fantastic gm is the sapphicworld dev, twt@/ddemoneclipse. hi guys i hope u don't mind me chattering abt ur ocs here lol it's just hard to talk abt the best of cookie w/o bringing up everyone else's characters and roleplay also!!!)

🎀 cookie is very VERY sensitive and will burst into tears at the drop of a hat. the precursor to this is her eyes getting So So So Big And Wet And Round. one of my favorite bits to menace the other party members with is when something is not going cookie's way i will lean into my mic and say "cookie's eyes are getting so so so big. they're getting so big and wet and round and shiny. they're so so round and fucking big her eyes are like big wet black glass marbles" and this is like kryptonite to them. this is like getting hit with deadly radiation

“So like, I don’t know any of this nerd shit,” Taako says, flipping his hair a little. “But the lil’ man wants to play, and I want him to get to play, because the next time he gets the zoomies and I have to play Risk I’m gonna fuckin’ Risk It All, you know what I mean? No offence, Ango.” 

“None taken, sir! If I took offence at all of your flippant and seemingly disparaging comments made to distance yourself from real feelings and maintain the dangerously seductive comfort of irony, I’d be in a sorry state, probably!” Angus grins a great big gap toothed grin, not even looking at Taako, who just sort of accepts this as normal. Both of them look at Kravitz expectantly, and he, stunned, realized he’s meant to be formulating an answer and not just being more floored than the sad, sad fucking arcade carpet he won’t replace because he’d have to lose like, a WEEK of business. 

Also it’s vintage. 

“But I’m not!” Angus says, probably for Kravitz’s benefit, and also as a politer way to kick someone under the table, especially when you cannot kick under the counter of his game store. 

“Right,” Kravitz says. “So you want to play DnD.”

“Oh, more than anything, sir!” Angus does a little wiggle that betrays the absolute carbonated excitement lurking under his carefully controlled little bow-tie ass calm. “But even, perhaps, if it were possible to be more than anything and then more than that again, as how some infinities are larger than other infinities, as you may remember from the siren song of calculus, I really, really want to DM!”

“You want to DM?” Kravitz eyes the ten year old. Ten? He thinks Taako said ten. He might have also said five, and that’s definitely not true. Probably. No, definitely. Five is like double toddler. Right? Double and a half? “Dungeon Master,” Angus says helpfully, opening his mouth and taking a thrilled deep breath to elaborate ‘for Kravitz’s benefit’. 

“Right. Well, sh- heck, young man, uh, I admire your enthusiasm,”

“Don’t worry, you can swear in front of me! I’m perfectly well aware of what sort of words you say in what sort of situations. In fact, I’ve been learning a lot about code-switching, and-”

“Hey, lil’man, you gotta win the sale to infodump,” Taako nudges in a stage whisper.

“Right!!!!!” Angus straightens up, vibrating like a Looney Toons arrow. “Regardless, would it be possible to DM at your game store Mr. Kravitz? I promise I would follow any rules and guidelines you set out as appropriate based on your store code of conduct, even if they’re stupid, and Taako can help me bring snacks if that is acceptable!”

Kravitz laughs, getting the hang of it now. He gets it. Maybe he doesn’t get Angus specifically yet, or even kids in general, but oh, does he recognize this flavor. And he would fucking love to enable it as far as he’s allowed. 

“You know what, I do think I have an open table. I’ll put out feelers and see who’s interested. Do you mind a rotating party, or would you prefer to lock in for a certain amount of time?”

“Hmmmm,” Angus says, screwing up his face and clearly mentally flipping through his campaign notes. “Let me consider and prioritize.”

“Yeah, you consider and prioritize, maybe shop around a little, and I’ll chat with your, uh,”

“Taako,” Taako smoulders, which provides no fucking context whatsoever. Who are you to him. ELABORATE!!

“Taako,” Kravitz agrees with a smile. 

Angus bolts off so fast to look at the campaign books and dice that he leaves an Angus-shaped cloud behind, and Taako and Kravitz stifle laughter, because it’s still not like, a huge store, and the little guy probably hears everything he isn’t supposed to. 

“Precocious,” Kravitz says fondly. “You don’t know the half of it,” Taako sighs. “I can’t keep up with him half the time. But man, he cares so hard it wears a hole through me and when I eat it falls out of me like a cartoon skeleton.”

“So true.” Kravitz can’t help but laugh. They’re more the same than Taako may realize. They reek of the same vibe, like the kind of candle you wanna take a big bite out of. “He’s yours?”

“Insomuch as a stray cat is yours, you know?” Taako leans on the game counter and sigh, toying with his hair again, which Kravitz recognizes is a flirting technique and is somehow still kneecapped by. “Like, you can be like, hey, who the fuck lets cats outside? They’re gonna decimate the goddamn bird population, and then where will we be?”

“Ten percent less birdful,” Kravitz says, like that’s a reasonable thing any person has ever said on planet Earth, ever. 

Taako nods, which does nothing to discourage Kravitz’s bullshit. 

“But like, seriously, his legal guardians don’t do shit, and yadda yadda yadda,”

“Plot plot lore,  Kravitz agrees. 

“He’s mine, sort of. He comes and eats my food, at least, you know, when he doesn’t have to fight possums for it.” 

“Does the possum have a name?” Kravitz grins. 

“Garyl,” Taako says, whipping back just as fast. Fuck, Kravitz is obsessed with him. Damn, he had things to do. “He used to be a binicorn in another life, but he can’t escape the cycle, so he came back as a trash gargler. His favorite cheese is provolone.”

“Ooh, mild,” Kravitz says, so outside of himself at the moment that he could pause the livestream and do football drawings and commentary on his own stupid face putting these noises in this order. But Taako laughs, so it’s worth it. He looks at Angus, who is carefully inspecting the Bucket O’ Dice, and digging frantically for one he’s spotted in the very bottom. “I almost want to go open another pound of dice and pour them in, you know, for uh…boy enrichment.”

“Boy enrichment is the name of the game,” Taako agrees. “That tiger needs beefier meat pumpkins than cha’boi can provide. I can’t keep up with him, seriously. I was hoping maybe you’d know more about this shit?”

“Yeah, a little,” Kravitz massively understates, feeling a glowing, strong bond form between him and this alleycat of a kid. “I’d love to let him find his footing here, if you want. And if people want to be freaks about it, I’m not having it.”

“Fuck yeah,” Taako mumbles. “Knew I could trust a pretty guy like you. No one’s snapped you up yet?”

“Too goth and weird,” Kravitz laments, like he isn’t having a heart attack about being called pretty. “I’m as single as the day is long.” 

“Well, it’s Daylight Savings Time, bitch, and it’s about to get real dark.” 

“Are you-” Kravitz can’t help but laugh. “Are you announcing your intentions to pursue me?”

“Is it working?” Taako winks. 

“Yes,” Kravitz has to admit. “Yes it is."

Thank you for the ask. I'm so sorry for not answering sooner. I am going to rant about neo 3 and my creative process regarding their character.

My idea for Veronika's parents is that they're either dead or living not knowing of the whereabouts of their eldest child. Initially I wanted Veronika to try to find their birth parents as a set up for some sort of tragic rejected-by-your-own-family scenario, but I realized that sort of defies the "raised by salmonids" statement, so I decided to scrap it.

Instead of developing their ties to their inkling family, I decided to expand on the Salmonids that Veronika grew up around, and what their opinions on them would be. While there are many salmonids who are fine with Veronika, the majority of salmonids don't approve of them living there due to the history behind Inkling and Salmonid relations. Veronika's situation was and still is a hot debate among salmonids. While Veronika is an inkling, they have nothing to do with grizzco's interference with the salmon runs, so there's no reason to be outright hostile towards them; However, some salmonids still hold the belief that an inkling has no place in their society. Given their circumstances, I guess that can't really be helped.

One of the more prevalent arguments for Veronika's case is the "Octo-village", which is a small part of the Salmonid city inhabited by Octarians who were left stranded as a result of the tide rising after diplomatic meetings held between Octarians and Salmonids. Because Octolings also live in the village, a common argument is that Veronika is no different from an Octoling who was left behind by their allies.

Veronika was raised on salmonid values and beliefs, so I always have to remind myself of this when thinking about important events in their life. During their fight against Mr. Grizz, they weren't afraid of dying, but rather letting down the people they love. Mr. Grizz was the one who caused the inkling interferences in the salmon runs, and the main perpetrator of hostility between the two species. Mr. Grizz's plan was to cover the entire world in fuzzy ooze and lay waste to the world as they knew it, which meant that everyone that Veronika had ever known would be lost. Defeating Mr. Grizz was Veronika's responsibility at this point. After all, who else has the capability and means to do it?

Veronika sells scrap metal to make enough money to live in Splatsville. Scrap metal foraging is a talent they've had since childhood, as Salmonids frequently use scrap metal in their buildings. Veronika moved to Splatsville at 15, because the Salmonids agreed that because an inkling doesn't have the necessary capabilities to participate in salmon runs, they shouldn't be encouraged to stay within Salmonid society, which puts emphasis on fighting for the pride of one's clan. I'll expand on this point in the next paragraph. Veronika learned the inkling language (inklish) mainly through their friends, which means they know a lot of slang and not a lot of complicated words. They're pretty content with this.

The Salmonid belief that fighting to the death is honourable and a necessary part of the cycle of life was a huge factor in both Veronika's character and how they interact with other characters. while their peers fight for the sake of "claiming turf", Veronika fights for the belief that it is honorable and unites them with the world. This leads them into getting into a lot of fights around Splatsville, and subsequently claiming a lot of turf because of it.

Oh my darling you have caused me to happily procrastinate all my tasks to think about this. I love them so much so of COURSE I HAVE HIGH SCHOOL HCS!

For some reason I like the idea of Benny calling Macon “Mac” or maybe he goes by that because Richard feels like his dad/grandpa and he’s heard enough Rick or Dick to be Over It.

Macon is somehow both in the cool kid crowd AND a huge brainiac that’s in all the science/math clubs. It’s unfair. That scene in MOTA where he stands to infodump very technical information and everyone turns to look at him? Yup. Cue Benny trying to hide that he’s smitten.

Benny is more quiet and not in the cool crowd, feels like he’d never have a chance with Macon. Macon travels the school with this flock of science gods (incl. Gale, Alex, Harry, etc) and they’re all so cool/fashionable but also really kind people and Benny is *gone*

Maybe Benny checks a couple physics books out of the library so he can have something to talk to Macon about…no one has to know (besides Curt who works at the library—he drew the short straw of the work/study program—and gave Benny the Look when he was getting the books).

Benny’s not exactly shy, he just doesn’t know how to approach Macon when he’s so starstruck

What he doesn’t know is that Macon is also harboring a crush on the sweet dark-eyed boy with the old truck and husky he treats like a child, thinks Benny is the most beautiful thing but can’t think of a way to approach

Then one morning when Benny takes Meatball to the park he runs into Macon on a jog or something (make it funny like Meatball charges him in excitement and knocks him into the lake) and Benny is mortified but Macon is laughing and cuddling Meatball while Benny simultaneously apologizes and tries not to melt and my dorm is right there do you need clothes, omg I’m so sorry. And Macon’s like well yes thank you I have class after this and then he walks into class wearing one of Benny’s distinctive shirts and everyone looses their shit. Forget trying to explain.

And well, Macon has to bring the clothes back sometime, and maybe would Benny want to go on morning walks more often (with Meatball of course)? They start hanging out and find out they have a lot in common

Takes their care very seriously. Ludwig has invested a lot of money in the best food and home for them, and even has a schedule for everything laid out on your fridge. Any deviation is dangerous, Y/N!

Very worried his dogs will eat them somehow, so probably doesn’t take them out very often. So, sometimes he’ll just sit and read a book next to their cage for a while. It relaxes him.

Not particular to any specific kind, but he does really like those fancy lizards- they just look so serious!

Alright, you’re part of his life now, and so are your reptiles. He doesn’t really care either way.

Probably the most normal out of any of them. He’ll bring them out when he’s playing video games or reading manga just to hang out with.

Not at all bothered by feeding them bugs or other animals!

But oh lord, he panics so horribly if anything ever went wrong with them. Probably takes them to the vet more than he should.

- She works on the IT department of a big company. Boring office job. But she doesn't mind it that much. Everyone is nice enough and it pays the bills. That's more than enough for her

- But besides programming and gaming, her big passion in life is... Sewing! 80% of the plushies in her collection are handmade, including Sir Gengar himself

- Is an INTP, and their birthday is on September 4th (it may or may not be a reference to Gengar's pokedex number)

- Pulled a LITERAL DEMON FROM HELL with her autism swag

TIME FOR RAPH INFODUMP SINCE HE'S THE MAIN CHARACTER OF THIS AU

He really loves gardening!!! He loves it so much he also grows flowers!!!!

That being said he wishes he was human so he could fight in the war, mostly because he wants to protect his brothers and maybe if he goes his dad can come home ( which is not how it works sorry baby boy). He unfortunately is the only one that knows why their dad left - Yoshi told the others it was for work but he explained to Raph that they were fighting a war etc etc etc he might not come back etc etc and don't let his brothers know. So Raph has been doing hs best to keep it hidden from his brothers.

But that's what gardening is for! He uses it as a distraction from the overwhelming anxiety he feels about being the only one to know what is going on. Yoshi is a decent dad in this au, but him making Raph the only one to know was a huge L for him.

Raph's main motivation during the timeline of this au is to protect his brothers, protect their farm. Keep things running. He's under a lot of pressure to protect their livelihood and is ends up hurting him in the end.

that's not creepy at all don't worry!!! i've never really posted any oc lore publicly because i'm not sure if people care, and boy do i apologize you having to look through my sideblog because Wow Is There Nothing Important On It, but i'm BEYOND elated to answer any questions about them!!! literally thank you so much for asking, you made my day 😭

i have a looooot of stuff about them written down on places like google docs, a discord server i infodump in, and also In My Head so there's a HUGE amount of previously untapped info about them just around, but i'll stick to their main things for now :)

POP:

Pop is an Octoling based on the Flapjack octopus. They are genderfluid, and thanks to the benefits of the cephalopod form, change their physical appearance regularly just for the hell of it. They vary between masc-leaning and femme-leaning, but usually look some flavor of GNC. (Their physical build remains the same, think of it like how the player characters in Splatoon change their gender and hairstyle. Pop just does that whenever they feel like it.)

They are fruitily charming, outgoing, unserious to a fault, and smug. Pop is a lot more sociable than Lock, often chatting people up or making friends at unexpected times. They are well aware of their charm, but make an effort to be the more likable of the two. They like to introduce themselves first, leading to many close relationships with a lot of people that otherwise would never have talked to them. However, when they dislike someone, they make it VERY known. They are unable to hide their distaste towards anyone they regard as too annoying. They can get aloof at times, but are generally a very peppy and easy-going person.

LOCK:

Lock is an Inkling based on the Whiplash squid. He is the composer and instrumentalist of the duo, and is very talented on the keyboard.

He likes to put on an off-puttingly brooding, "cool guy" persona, but when you get to know him, it becomes clear he is often neurotic and overly sensitive. He can be very visibly depressed, though he tries to play off his inability to take care of himself as part of his uncaring attitude. He pushes people away instinctively, but gets very attached to the people who love him despite this. Unfortunately, he doesn't know how to healthily express his emotions and can get rather sulky and mean, leading his closest personal relationships to be... rather strained at times.

He also has a toxic and ultimately doomed relationship with Tide of Suit-Nami that both Shlubby and I have agreed is very fun to watch as it slowly burns. Sorry Lock, you're fated to lose the best boyfriend you'll ever have :')

There's a lot more to both of their backstories, but for the sake of keeping things simple, here's a condensed version.

Lock was a trust fund baby pushed into idol culture that got shunted off to boarding school once he was deemed more trouble than he was worth by his parents. In a petulant attempt to be acknowledged by them, he regularly commits petty crimes and acts of vandalism, but is bailed out from afar every time to avoid his family name getting bad press. It's a real sore spot for him.

Pop had loving parents who encouraged them to explore their love for music, but after they got older and started posting their music to HueTube, they got relentlessly mocked for being cringe and were devastated. They went to boarding school in an attempt to escape their reputation and worked past their trauma by pouring it into their work and reclaiming their identity.

Pop and Lock were placed together as part of an idol internship program during their last year of school. Pop felt bad for Lock, and specifically requested him as means of lending a hand. Lock had previously avoided them for quite some time, but once they were forced to pair up he realized he had found his first genuine friend.

MONA:

Mona is a halfmoon betta fish and handler-turned-posse-member of the group. She's an underpaid and overworked employee of the idol agency Pop and Lock are employed at, and was assigned to pINK Lemonade to keep them in check after they were involved in one too many incidents (read: PR nightmares)

She has a bit of a temper, as most bettas do, but over time has formed a real relationship with Pop and Lock and does not blow up at them as much as she does others. Their friendship has also helped her loosen up and not let her job consume her soul.

CILAN:

Cilan is a calm, easygoing, tall inkling and the oldest of the four. He has long purple hair and seemingly permanently closed eyes. He's the group's resident eye-candy and secretary/flunky. There isn't a whole lot to his personality that I can say right now. He's just hot... sue me...

PERCY JACKSON EPISODE 7 SPOILERS!!! (and also for the book if you haven't read it!!)

So, as always, FANTASTIC episode.... But..

There were soo many things that I waited the week to see, that they either changed, or completely left out.

A lot of the changes they did in the series are not changes that bother me or they're changes I really liked, but this time they did me dirty.

The struggle in crusty's??? The waiting room filled with dead people??? The whole oh no cerberus is after us what are we gonna do omg wait cerberus is just a big puppy that wants to have some fun???

I know they did still technically have that last one but it was very different from the book.

Now see, I don't mind that it's different from the books, this is Rick's chance to rewrite the book but with the knowledge he has of what happens in the whole book series.. But some things I think affected the episode a bit on the negative side.

Another thing that does annoys me at times, but truly isn't the end of the world, is that too often the characters just. Know. They meet a new monster and they immediately know who it is and what they do. Where as in the book they find out the hard way. Knowing that they've reached medusas lair before they see the statues to prove it, knowing how to defeat crusty before even walking into his shop (otherwise Annabeth wouldn't already be wearing her cap, fight me) etc. I think the overall show would be slightly improved, had they just added maybe 10 minutes to every episode, and used those extra minutes to show our heroes actually in trouble. Percy doesn't know how to properly fight yet, show him learning. They do that, but I think they could do it more.

I don't mind the telling, not showing, because the entire first book is just a huge infodump. The people that are mad at that, needs to read the book (again)

Also, that is EXACTLY how I envisioned hades to be. Not so somber, not the hadestown version of hades (tho I really do love hadestown hades) but the dorky, clever little bastard that was in episode 7. Thank you! I immensely enjoyed every second of those few minutes of screen time he had. But I do think some scenes were too short. Don't come for me, I know a lot of the "fights" from TLT are way shorter than some people might remember, but they did almost die in crusty's shop and I wanted persassy talking to charon and sailing the Styx.

I did like that they kept the shoes dragging grover to tartarus, that gives a lot of info to non readers about who the traitor is.. One thing about tartarus though... I clearly remember it as a cave with a huge bottomless pit? I could be wrong, and honestly, it being in a cave or the middle of a desert is not something that is too important to me, I just thought the cave set the whole mood. Ykno, with Artemis being trapped in there in TTC and all that. But again, not That important to me.

The only thing that has legitimately bothered me about this show, has been the lighting. As someone who is incredibly passionate about lighting, and wants to become a professional in the field, watching (or struggling to) some of the scenes, were so annoying. They could do better than giving Pjo the DC treatment. I watch the show on my computer, in a dark room, with the screen light on max, and still couldn't see certain scenes in the show (like the amusement park, the minotaur, fields of asphodel etc)

There's many ways to show the audience that it's so dark the characters might have trouble seeing, without the audience feeling the same way.

I'm so sorry about the length of this, I had stuff to say. But no one will ever get me to dislike this show. I love it, so so soo much, sometimes there are just things I'm insanely excited to see, as a book reader, that doesn't happen and I'm a bit sad about that, no matter how good bad or neutral the changes are.
