Just then a group entered the library, arguing at and over each other. They were the most unlikely hodgepodge collection of people Tyrion had ever seen in his life: a young man in the rough spun smock favored by Meereen's freedmen, a tall bearded fellow wearing ornate robes that identified him as a member of one of the "great families," a woman dressed in the silk sleeveless tunic of a prostitute, and a half-dozen others, each more surprising than the last.

"All I am saying, my lord Hizdahr," said one woman, wearing a flowing dress and the choker that signaled her status as a Red Priestess, "is that your ridiculous notion of religious 'persecution' is so broad as to render any religious judgement meaningless!"

The tall bearded one slammed the door shut behind them and followed the group as it meandered its way over to a large oval table near a window, piled high with scrolls and books and half-written sheets of paper. "And all I am saying, my lady Kinvara, is that reducing the population via pyrotechnics is directly contradictory to achieving peace and stability, as well as freedom for all Meereenese!"

"Both of you shut up," sighed the man in the smock as they all settled into what seemed to be their usual seats. Thus far none of them had taken notice of either their queen or of him. One of the group, an old man with a white beard and a limp, got up almost immediately to totter over to one of the bookshelves, pulling out an alarming number of tomes with a thoughtful expression on his face. "And stop calling each other 'my lord' and 'my lady' when you're irritated, it makes my hands itch and I just want to wrap them around your throats."

"And you would be free to do so, were we followers of the Drowned God," snapped the one called Hizdahr as he rose to his feet, striding over to the old man and taking the pile of books. This evidently didn't put much of a damper on his ability to argue, however, as he twisted round to glare at the Red Priestess. "Any blood shed by a faith is fine, so long as it's your own devout you're killing? That seems to be your definition of 'religious freedom.'"

"Does the Drowned God punish its criminals by strangling them?" asked a young person surrounded by papers, fingers blue from ink and scribbling madly. "I thought it would be. Well. Drowning."

This seemed to side-track the conversation for a bit, and Daenerys moved away toward the door at the opposite end of the library.

"Who in the hells are they?" asked Tyrion as he followed her, before remembering his audience and wincing.

"Meereen's new Governance Charter Council," replied Daenerys, looking torn between annoyance and amusement. "They're drawing up a new system of laws and regulations for the city, as well as a system to choose their leaders."

"Is that all?"

"Yes, well, it seemed like a good idea at the time. It still does," she added, somewhat reluctantly. "But tyranny has its advantages."

"For the tyrant, certainly," he agreed, and winced again.

Fortunately, she laughed. "Certainly. But I mean for everyone. A just form of government will still fail its people, after all. And then who do they blame? Themselves, for choosing their own leaders? At least with me, Meereen has someone to hate."

"Do they hate you?" asked Tyrion, somewhat surprised. Granted, he'd not had much chance to mingle among the hoi polloi, but the crowd at the fighting pits had seemed quite approving of their new queen.

"They don't love me."

Tyrion rolled his eyes. "Well, love. That always fades in the end, doesn't it?"

"Does it?" Daenerys looked thoughtful. They had arrived at the other door and a librarian opened it for them. She did not bow, he noted; simply nodded and closed the door behind them. Daenerys seemed not even to notice, mulling over his question as though it had been a serious one.

#it's very important to me that Daenerys both supports Meereen's adolescent democracy and is totally annoyed by it #like the politics of the books and show are terrible and I'm not gonna be able to magically fix them all #but lbr Daenerys has really good intentions and really terrible execution (so to speak) #and it would be far more interesting if characters loved her for reasons other than 'the plot requires it' #which means that people sometimes *don't* love her and it doesn't send her into a bizarre tailspin #anyway tyrion and daenerys are going to have lots of fun rolling their eyes at this whole democracy thing #joke's on them when they get to westeros #and are like 'actually hmmmmmm' #game of thrones motherfuckers #got: bitches get stuff done

i'll just keep it simple: basically kaito gets dementia (or i guess the robot equivalent of it??). yeah.

not sure if this takes place on the cusp of v3 happening and just this specific kaito v1 module was unable to be updated for some reason? or if they're all still stuck in v2 and v3 hasn't happened yet/will not happen for a while... but i do know its def before v4 happened, so people like fukase and una don't exist yet

anyways though as you might expect, it pretty much sucks all around for everyone involved. not just the other 5 cryptonloids watching their close friend so previously full of life deteriorate into a husk of his former self, but for kaito himself too. he suddenly can't remember things like where he is or who the people around him are, and its incredibly frustrating b/c he knows he did have the memories at some point, its just as if they got misplaced... there's random bits of recollections that do come sometimes but as much as he tries to hold onto them they flicker and fade away just as quick as they appeared. left sinking back into a feeling of hopelessness that then becomes pure emptiness, as you can feel how you're losing yourself but there's quite literally nothing you can do

visually the static is used to represent a lot of that "foggy" feeling as things become more and more unclear, and given the robot/android nature it makes sense i guess? it's not really seen here but just as an actual machine might be when breaking down, his visual + audio processors begin to malfunction, causing a literal static overlay on his vision with faces/objects he can't recognize occasionally glitching out as well as constant white noise in his hearing and the sound of people talking to him becoming garbled and unintelligible. as time goes on he also loses his own ability to synthesize speech so aside from becoming withdrawn and quiet out of fear he'll say something that makes no sense, he then literally just becomes incapable of responding at all

again (as you might expect), the other cryptons aren't doing very well as this is happening. rin and len see kaito almost like a father, so watching one of your parental figures slowly march towards death is... not great. rin (as seen here) is still trying to hold on, because she swears kaito has had a few good days where he does recall more, where he seems much more like his old self, and maybe, just maybe if they wait a bit more he'll get better [tbh she's speedrunning the 7 stages of grief but goes between being stuck in some of the earlier stages its... not good]. len's grief on the other hand is manifesting itself in a way more similar to meiko's: he's not as distant as her, but he has already recognized that there's pretty much nothing that can be done and just wants to minimize kaito's suffering. len's just as shattered as rin though, but he's not showing it openly, figuring he has to accept it, as fighting against the grief like his sister won't help anything.

i just mentioned meiko so speaking of her: this is also probably extremely difficult on her, as, yknow, the counterpart v1 to kaito. she's withdrawn herself away from kaito, as she doesn't want to cause him pain in case he happens to recognize her, remember something about their relationship, but not comprehend what it means and just become confused/distressed. at least, that's what she says; it's more or so she can't bear to see him in this state, as he slowly loses more parts of himself, so she isolates herself in hopes the pain will be somewhat less when its all over, for having seen him less and not having false hopes of his recovery. that being said though she has definitely still been around him and tried to keep her composure... from kaito's pov, in moments of recollection, its disheartening seeing your wife close friend suddenly ignoring you, almost like she's mad or sad about something, but you can't remember why. did you forget to do the laundry? is it something unrelated? you want to ask her but she won't tell you; why? did she already and you just forgot? why...

miku's usual cheeriness has also crumbled, as even with rin's attempts, she can't find anything to be optimistic about in this scenario. she just feels this immense guilt, that she should've done something about this; she has influence as the most popular of the entire group, surely she could do something to make it all better. but aside from the arguments and indecisiveness regarding ethics and not wanting to do something without everyone's collective decision, she does know deep down its not her fault. maybe someone like one of the technicians or programmers would be more at fault, but she doesn't want to blindly throw accusations either, because surely they hadn't foreseen this happening either; nobody would intentionally throw in such a cruel fate for someone, it was an unfortunate system glitch that they were working to fix, but even if they did come up with a patch for it, it would be far too late for kaito at that point. she doesn't want to dwell too much on the logistics of it, miku just wants to be there for everyone else, because she knows how deep in despair the others are—she is too—and doesn't want their whole group to fall apart after such a devastating event.

as for luka: i would assume we're kind of actually seeing everything from her perspective, so as an audience lens she'd be more objective about presenting everything as it is without putting too much of her own bias/thoughts into it. but she's not completely unfeeling either. she tries interacting with kaito quite often, despite some of the others warning her about doing that too much. she tries talking to him about random things, not necessarily aiming to get him to remember anything in specific, though if any of his memories do surface in conversation she'll def address them and ask if he recalls anything more (and if not that's alright too). on some occasions she's been accused of being insensitive, but she doesn't want his death to be this huge tragedy, she would want him to be somewhat happy in his last moments. after everything that's happened, he deserves to leave in peace, in her opinion.

i've mentioned death a few times and there's a literal gravestone in the original emoji combo so safe to say, yeah, he dies. unfortunately the damage to his hardware is beyond repair from the critical/fatal errors and glitches, and it's decided that it'd be best to ultimately just deactivate him and delete all his files to not prolong any pain he might've been in for any longer. not exactly sure what would happen afterwards (aside from an obvious aftermath of the grief): if this is before/on the verge of v3 happening, there's the situation i thought about of them receiving a new replacement v3 kaito module, which has its own angst w/ it: its almost like seeing a fucking ghost, but it's not the same one they all remember, nor does it have all those memories. and this v3 kaito himself experiencing conflicted feelings as someone who was brought in to try and give back happiness to this group, only to seem to cause more despair for being so similar to someone long gone that he'll never truly replace. again though i'm not sure if i'd actually have that happen for the sake of everyone involved's sanity but it is something interesting to think about

You know, I remembered this and a thought occurred to me ...

At first, I was shocked Natori actually had friends considering how he was back then since he isolated himself from everyone, but then the only person he wanted to connect with was Seiji that he actually tried to be his friend one way or another, right ?

So, in this light, is this in some way referring to Seiji perhaps or Seiji is included ??

But then again what does he mean if so, Seiji can protect himself from this world and nothing can lead to any complications resulting in cutting any ties they might've had back then or am I wrong ??

Or wait a sec !! Actually, there IS one thing that can fit all of the points !!

A very complicated matter that Seiji needs protection from, yet he doesn't want it and I can see them fighting over it which would trigger Natori greatly since it against what he believed in plus he became an exorcist to help such people. this matter would reflect both their beliefs, personality and way of living so perfectly ... oooh I can already see how deep this can possibly be !!!

I mean the Yokai that's after the Matoba's leader eye!!

unlike Natori's lizard yokai this Yokai can be attacked and killed if someone is powerful enough and willing to, maybe if Seiji put his mind to it, he might seal it or even kill it, yet he didn't .. or in other word, the Matoba leader isn't allowed to kill it and must let it be since killing this yokai won't benefit the clan at all, right now this yokai is a big source for the clan's power so if they lose this power then who knows what will happen to the clan's future -_-

once Seiji get to be the leader then he's the next target for this yokai. no matter what, he must endure all the pain and suffering that comes with this burden for the future of the clan. knowing Seiji he would gladly accept such a sacrifice no matter how ugly and heavy it is, such pain for him is an okay price if he gets what he wants from it.

but to Natori he won't accept this or comprehend the Matoba's situation or Seiji's resolve at all, so he might've tried to kill this yokai to free Seiji at one point after Seiji became the Matoba's leader? but seeing how very complicated this matter is, and how Seiji would heavily refuse this and accepted this sacrifice which might led them fighting over it as I said before.

in the end Natori ran away from this matter, he doesn't understand nor want to understand anymore, so both followed the path they believed in.

do you think with this scene from Miharu arc, where this yokai's complicated matter indirectly brought up by Natori yet he swallowed the words before he finishes them, while Seiji smiled like " I know what you wanna say and mean to say" kind of smile, indicated this idea is actually a possibility ??? hmmmmm

i remember reading some interview with hirono-san where he mentioned aramaki-san has a princely appeal and he does lol and it bleeds into his sasara

but the way it bled into his sasara made him the most intimidating version of sasara no cap lmao

aramaki-san’s sasara in the early stage was formed primarily bc of a lack of material for nagosaka at the time, so all he really had was the first dh drama track, where sasara’s two faced personality was his introduction, and the tdd manga, where he rolled with samatoki so i understand how it happened lol

his sasara is still a bit scary but it definitely lightened up by dh vs bb lmao and sometimes that starts by coming into every rehearsal session and roping your character’s partner into freestyling manzai to set the mood lol

i find it absolutely hilarious aramaki-san claims to have fallen asleep listening to recordings of satonaka-san’s voice to perfect his osaka accent LOL

the stage is so fun lmao rosho and sasara’s confrontation in canon was plenty dramatic but holy FCK did the stage ramp it up they were both crying and screaming throughout that fallout and subsequent reconciliation and that’s Theatre lmao

fills me with so much rage having palpable proof these actors were still exploring and finding new ways to portray the characters bro like during one of the dh rep live shows, aramaki-san wound up missing his cue and laughed his way thru his apology and catching up with the song

throughout the nb duet kuukou was tactile with ichiro; he playfully kicked him, ruffled his hair, shared a coke etc. but not once did sasara or samatoki meet in theirs; they kept circling each other on that stage and it was symbolic of what was real (ichiro’s memories of kuukou) vs what wasn’t (samatoki dreaming of sasara) AND ITS GREAT MAN
