Hi hello so if Jack is able to function as an adult from birth because he absorbed Kelly's knowledge when he was in the womb do you think he has a firm grasp on and strong opinions regarding the political and economic state of the usa circa 2018 because Kelly worked in politics

that being said while it’s very cute that dean teaches jack how to drive and it’s a nice little bonding moment for them both i know that dean is actually the worst driving instructor in the world and makes jack swear off driving forever. dean reminds him about a little nuance one time too many and jack blinks the fuck out of there and leaves dean to lunge for the wheel

As a follow up to my previous message about Dean’s grief being colored through Sam’s vision, it’s striking in that *that’s* the full circle moment of the show the writers were leaning to. Sam was initially the viewers eyes into learning about the supernatural and the Winchester family. We learn they support their lifestyle by running credit card scams, as an example. While undoubtedly Dean became the main character, after over 300 episodes, we wind back to Sam and see Dean through Sam’s eyes. He deflects about losing Cas. We get just the tiniest glimpse things aren’t right with Dean when he’s by himself - that hug with Miracle, getting up and leaving the bed unmade - but ultimately that’s it. Everything else Dean experiences in the remaining 20 minutes of the episode where he’s still alive, he’s with Sam.
And speaking of visions, I almost wonder that what we see of Sam’s life might not actually be what happens but rather a daydream of where he might go from here. He could marry a faceless random woman, have a kid - if it’s a boy, definitely name him after Dean, and try to hide away from the hunting lifestyle. If he doesn’t put pictures up, maybe the images of people like Cas and Jack, Jody, etc will fade from his mind. He’ll teach the importance of family to his son. We know that’s important to Sam by the enlarged picture of his parents and Dean (from Lebanon promo pics) in the middle of it all. And he’ll definitely keep the Impala.
And that might be what happens in Sam’s life. Or it might not. We really don’t know what happened after he closed the bunker doors.
"I almost wonder that what we see of Sam’s life might not actually be what happens but rather a daydream of where he might go from here."
❗❗❗❗❗❗❗
OH MY GOD. THE DREAMY LAST SEQUENCE AS SAM'S DAYDREAM WHILE DRIVING HIS WAY TO THE NEXT HUNT. See, Sam's listening to Carry on My Wayward Son, but in his mind, it becomes...this.
I friggin' love that idea, though! Like, when you lose someone, you do find yourself thinking, "I'll see them again, someday. They're probably in Heaven right now. Jack fixed it, so it's better. Cas helped. Everyone is together. I'll probably meet him on a bridge...when I too cross over." That's so...normal.
"He could marry a faceless random woman, have a kid - if it’s a boy, definitely name him after Dean, and try to hide away from the hunting lifestyle. ...And he’ll definitely keep the Impala. And that might be what happens in Sam’s life. Or it might not. We really don’t know what happened after he closed the bunker doors."
The woman is blurry, because Sam doesn't have a clear idea of it just yet, but she will be transformational and zen and so, so normal. Sam has a very poor idea of what aging will actually look like for him, too because none of his fam has ever actually made it that far. Which is why the wig looks so weird.
Sam has a very poor imagination of what "normal" looks like, because he is and has always been a weirdo. Like, he really thinks he'll be decrepit and elderly by the time his son is a young adult.
Not only do I love this, but I spent the last three minutes laughing at how Sam put his entire neurodivergent heart into his grief-fantasy, and it looks like that.

Dean: where's Cas and the child?
Sam: Cas is teaching him how to drive
Dean, screaming: Cas never learned to drive???
Meanwhile:
Cas: so there are two pedals. sometimes three but you can ignore the left one
Jack: I don't think...
Cas: the lines on the road are more suggestions than anything, like the speed limit
Jack: are you sure that...
Cas: I'm not sure how to turn on the blinkers. Ready?
Jack: uhhhh
Cas, shouting: GO GO GO
Jack, screaming: floors it.

why dean was absolutely frothing to kill chuck/God in s14-15 imo
Tumblr media
By s14 we're slowly starting to see the big series villain-reveal is God (spoilers! - but it is a 15xseason series that ended almost 3+ years ago so ya know....catchup) aka chuck.
And you see dean descend into this despair n depression and then absolutely frothing-at-the-mouth-desperate to kill him - at.any.cost - including making Jack into a soul-bomb ... the kid that he did *this* for finally.... birthdays n teaching him to drive in the impala...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And there's been a ton of text on the ptsd dean is sufferring at that stage and it's finally cracked him up (totally plausible) and there's a ton of analysis on how the brother bond with sam talked him down and out of using jack n that the ends doesn't justify the means and "not at any cost" theme from sam and the fact that dean was willing to listen even in that moment (contrasted to chuck n amara) - & i read an awesome analysis n scene-by-scene n line by line breakdown on spn-blr the other day (I Rb-d it the other day) of how dean was stopped cold n brought out of his madness by sam asking him if he'd be willing to sacrifice him ie sam as well in his mad quest to kill God n how dean desperately pleads his case n that chuck MUST die....n I agree with all of it...
Tumblr media
BUT what I haven't seen yet is any theories on WHY dean was so angry about it n absolutely crazy about killing god/chuck.... coz here's what's odd to me, about it being dean:
DEAN is the GOOD SOLDIER - he respects authority and father figures in general n even models himself in the patriarchical god's image (be it John or chuck I let you decide) - his whole "free will" thing is a sham / or only within narrowly defined confines acceptable to the patriarchs, because he's always been the one who's followed the rules set for him: by dad,by the hunting life chosen for him by dad, by societal norms,of "being a man", he's always toed the line set for him by dad n although he thinks angels are dickbags, he unquestionably thinks they're the "good guys" - or the "better" option against the alternative: demons n hell (s4 or anytime really even in midst of angel-wars)....he tends to be fairly black n white n even his "rebellion" is only when sam convinces him to walk off the board by saying no to Michael (s5) ...he may scoff at angels n God but he still thinks they're the "appropriate authority" n so while he's upset with how things are run, he's not after a regime change.... he's not the one into "free will" to the point that he'd be willing to kill the ONE TRUE PATRIARCHICAL AUTHORITY ie God...
That was always SAM's gig (n Lucifer)....SAM was the "it's not who you are, it's what you do n you can choose what you do"-guy, SAM was always the one questioning everything n never toeing the line and noticing the corruption in the system n pointing out alternatives n options to everything that they were "destined" for n told to be.... SAM was the one advocating for thinking for yourself...or hell, thinking at all, period... but yes, SAM was also the one with the faith in a higher power n the praying type n had been since his younger days - always the one wanting to believe that there was a higher authority that could save him, absolve him of his sins .... but also not really believing that he deserved to be saved if there really was such a higher power of good... he chose to have faith n hope despite it all...in God.
N then, after all that, they discover it was chuck after all... think about what it means to them in their pov, for a sec:
chuck wrote their lives the way it was with losing their families n letting demons at baby Sam n sam being sold to demon deal by their mother before he was born n dads rage n neglect n conflicted leading to both of them growing up so twisted n isolated n ...
Chuck wrote the big showdown n vessels for heaven n hell n the big throw down pitting brother against each other
Chuck wrote the dying n losing each other n pieces of themselves over n over n over n over n over...
Chuck wrote dean going to hell n sam being tortured in the cage for centuries...
Chuck wrote the big painful heartbreaking,soul-breaking breakups n the lack of trust sown between them by others n by themselves
Chuck wrote the tender moments n the "bro-ments" n "fan-fiction songs" n the caring for each other's wounds n the silent communication between them n the moments of ease n care n laughter n love...
...because, Chuck wrote them as soulmates - wrote the confusing n complicated feelings they had for each other n what it did to them growing up n even after - having to deal with it n figure it out n carry the burden of this connection that meant that they could never fully connect with anyone else despite their attempts n so grew isolated - that never went away even as it twisted n grew thorns n tore them to shreds n they could never let each other go even as it destroyed each other n themselves - because that connection wouldn't let them.... Chuck wrote that.
For his own sick pleasure n entertainment.... which means he heard ALL of sams desperate pleas n prayers throughout his life growing up...n enjoyed it even as he carried on turning the screws on sam (&by extn, dean in deans pov)....which means that all the faith n hope sam chose to put in him ie God- was completely misplaced n in fact in the literal wrong hands - talk about a violation worse than rape?... sam had his faith violated by the very God he chose to believe in after all he'd been through
N the thing is that just like when dean recoiled when John told him that he'd have to kill sam if he couldn't save him n got so mad at John for doing that to him....after he'd given him everything he had...
Similarly, Dean realised a lot of the above n what has him frothing is 2x main things in my mind:
The absolute fury at God for breaking his beloved brother's heart (n soul n mind n body) , doing this to him DELIBERATELY- ie he'd be outraged n furious on sams behalf n all that he's had to go through just for chucks shits n giggles... this would be the righteous big brother-dean fury of epic proportions...
This one I reckon is more on his/their personal behalf n by that I mean their "complicated feelings" for each other - knowing it was there n both felt it n they were brothers would have fked em up pretty badly....n dean especially, often said or did things explicitly to distance himself or sam when younger to deal with this in the "right way" - which absolutely made them both miserable n he hurt sam in the process...he knows sam similarly feels his own guilt n is the source of his self loathing n "uncleanness" just like it is source of dean's amongst others ....BUT by that late season-stage they had both grown to accept it n work with it and had arrived at an understanding of it and each other and by then, they'd felt like it was the "one thing they had of their very own" - not from hunting life,or something from dad or the devil or the destiny laid out for them etc, etc.... it was theirs - they'd found something precious n beautiful n unique n "special" in each other and WITH each other that they'd never found anywhere else n finally had stopped fighting it n had grown into it.....and EVEN THAT wasn't theirs n theirs alone- chuck wrote that....n to dean who'd have struggled with it so much - it'd feel like the one good, non-murdery place in himself n what he'd built with sam was also taken away/polluted n tainted by goddamn chuck....so it's deans violation too...
So yeah it's freewill that dean wants n is fighting to kill chuck for - but it's because it threatens their love n it's a choice that they both made together n he will not have that taken away
Tumblr media
n this also is why he thought sam of all people would understand n see that n want to take his ie dean's side that chuck had to go no matter the cost
Anyways sorry it got long... but yeah...this is what my spn-brainrotted brain thinks on why dean was jonesing for chucks blood - coz it hurt sam n coz it invalidated/threatened the integrity of their choice to be who they were to each other....

If you could create a new secret room in the bunker to insert into the original story and be heavily featured, what would it be/look like?
okay so if anyone sees this who also reads my fics, they probably won't be surprised if I say indoor swimming pool! I feel like Dean would find swimming to be really good for stress relief, because it can be meditative like fishing but there's also physical exertion, which might help him calm down when he's stressed or help him sleep when he has insomnia. when they first discover it, I think he'd also really enjoy the process of restoring it and making it as clean and cozy as the rest of his nest home.
I feel like Sam might prefer running over swimming, but Cas would try out the pool, if only because Dean is so enthusiastic about sharing his joy with Cas. and Cas has never been swimming! and doesn't own swim trunks! that of course needs to be rectified - cue shopping trip where Dean is super picky because they need swim trunks that look cool and badass!! (aka have big sharks on them)
then there's also the angst potential of post-Michael-possession!Dean who just went through the torture of "trapped and drowning inside my own body". that plus the whole bunker - his home - is full of strangers, strangers who look at Dean and only see Michael. and now when he needs stress relief and safe spaces the most, he can't even go for a long, calming swim, because being surrounded by water is terrifying now. another part of Dean that he lost to Michael because he was too weak to kick him out, and he's so mad, but he has nowhere to turn that anger against but himself. I actually wrote a fic where the whole ordeal with Michael (being possessed twice, then locking Michael inside his own mind and Michael breaking out forcefully) left Dean with not only ptsd but also epilepsy, which actively makes it dangerous for him to be in or even near the pool on his own.
there's also fluff potential though! I think Dean would really enjoy teaching Jack to swim, the same way he enjoyed teaching Jack to drive. he'd be so patient and then be so proud and happy watching Jack succeed, and it would be a really good bonding time for them. Jack would wanna get big floatables just for the fun of it and Dean would grumble about how stupid those are - until he learns that they make egg and bacon shaped ones, and then he's all for it.
thank you for the ask! :3

Chapter 1: Welcome to Mystic Falls
Tumblr media
Everyone was was relaxing on their own inside the bunker, Sam was on hi laptop searching for a case, [Name] and Jack were watching a movie in the living room, the only people who weren't here were Dean and Castiel who were on a supply run at the moment.
Once they arrived, as if on que, Sam spoke up "Hey, guys I think I found a case" [Name] and Jack paused the movie and walked over to where Sam was in the library, Castiel and Dean quickly walked down the stairs and stood behind sam along side [Name] and Jack. Dean set the grocery bag on the table as Sam spoke again. "A woman was found dead at a town called "Mystic Falls" with her blood completely drained, no sign of struggle was found anywhere in the scene but they did find bite marks on the victims neck.
"So you're thinking a vamp did this?" Dean said "Seem's so" Sam replied "A bit weird for the victim not to fight back at least a bit though" said [Name].
"Doesn't matter, let's go over there and gank the son of a b!tch and the rest of its nest, Jack you stay here and wait till we get back" Dean said whilst pointing a finger at the young Nephilim "But I can help! I've gotten much better at controlling my powers now!"
"No but's you're staying here and that's final." Jack frowned and looked down at his feet, Sam felt bad for the young boy and took Dean aside and Castiel followed them. "I think we should let him come with us, it could be a good learning opportunity for him, plus, he's been cooped up in the bunker for days now going outside and getting some fresh air would be good for him" Sam suggested "That's not the point, he's dangerous to others and himself, we can't risk somebody else getting hurt because of him"
Castiel spoke up in Jack's defense "I understand your concern Dean, but Jack doesn't try to do these things on purpose, let him come with us and Sam and I will keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't lose control. Dean sighed loudly before responding "Fine" he said, sounding defeated.
The three walked back over to Jack and [Name] "Both of you get your stuff ready and meet at the car in 5" Dean said "I can come with you?" The Nephilim seamed to beam at the thought "Yeah but don't get too excited" Jack didn't seem too upset at Dean's comment, he was just glad he could come along with everyone. "Come with me, I can show you what you'll need for the hunt" said [Name] as they walked into the hallway, Jack following behind them. Sam headed to his room to prepare, Castiel headed straight to the car, not needing to prepare much, and Dean went into his room to get his duffel bag.
Once everyone was ready they met up at the car and got inside, Dean driving while blasting classic hard rock, Sam riding shotgun and complaining about how loud the music was, and the other three riding back while [Name] tries to introduce the two angels to a car game to try and pass the time, the town wasn't too far but with the brothers constant bickering, it sure as he'll felt like it.
Once you all arrived at Mystic Falls it was already pretty late, Sam began to search for any affordable motels in the area and Dean had gone on a food run with Cass. Sam got two rooms, one for him and his brother, and the other for [Name] and Jack knowing that Cass didn't sleep at all. Once Dean got back, everyone was waiting in one of the two rooms (Sam and Dean's) so they can all research the towns history and visit the morgue tomorrow. "You guys find anything on the town?" "Yeah, looks like this isn't the first time something like this has happened" [Name] said "How far back does it go?" Dean said as he placed the bag of food on the nearby table "Well there are incidents that dating back to the 1400's and farther" "It says that on here too" Sam says "Seems like this town has been plagued with vampires for a really long time now" he continued with his brows furrowed. "Well alright, everyone head to their rooms, and by that I mean you two" Dean said pointing two fingers at [Name] Jack "And we'll head to the morgue tomorrow and ask around the sherrifs department tomorrow" Jack and [Name] got up and took their food before heading out.
The next day Jack and [Name] woke up earlier than expected and so they decided to get some breakfast, but before they could do that, they heard some deputies talk about another attack that happned last night with bite marks and and the blood completely drained, they overheardthem talk about the location which was in the middle of the woods, they were about to tell Cass and the borthers they heard Dean yelling "CASS WHAT THE HELL?!" they both opened the door to see what happned only to walk in on Cass siting on the edge of Dean's bed watching TV and Dean looking startled while Sam simply laughed at Dean's reaction. Jack looked confused as [Name] rolled their eyes at the scene before them. "Stop messing around, there was another attack last night that looks the exact same as the last one" The brothers quickly got up alongside Cass. "Go put your suit on so we can head out to the scene, which is where exactly?" Dean asked, upon telling them the location they all got ready and headed to the scene.
Once they all got there, they flashed their fake FBI badges at a deputy who in turn called the sheriff over. "Sherrif Forbes, and you are?" They all introduced themselves to her. "Aren't you two a little young to be FBI" "Were new, this is our first real case" [Name] said while slightly glancing at Jack. "And what do the FBI want with an animal attack?" Said a masculine voice, from behind the sheriff emerged a tall man with dark, he wore a black leather jacket on a black shirt with regular jeans "And your are?" Dean asked "Damon Salvatore, civillian consultant, now answer my question, what does the FBI want with an animal attack" the man, who the team have recently come to know is named Damon, asks again with impatience and a passive aggressive smile. "With all due respect sir, it's a private matter we can't discuss" Sam says "Well, sorry I asked" a sarcastic smile was visible on Damon's face as he turned on his heel and walked back over to the body.
"Follow me" said the sheriff. She lead them to the body. Dean bent down to get a closer look as the sheriff told them the details "A couple hitchhikers found the body this morning but judging by the temperature, he's been dead for a while now." Dean reached his hand and checked on the bite mark located on the man's neck, the bite marks looked cleaner than all the other vamps they've faced before, it was odd but he brushed it off. He got up and asked if they could get a copy of the autopsy report and she said they could drop by the morgue and pick it up later to which Dean offered a smile that left almost as quickly as it came, Sam stepped in a few second's later "Well thank you for your time, let us know if you find anything else" he hand them a card with his number on it and leaves with the rest of his team.
Damon however felt as if there was something more, something they weren't telling them "You okay?" Asked Forbes, Damon quickly turned his head in her direction "Uh yeah I'm fine Liz" she put her hand on his back before saying "Well I need to ask the hospital for a copy of the autopsy report to give to the Agents" she then took her arm and walked away. Damon knew something was up, and he was gonna figure it one way or another.
The group headed back to the motel but Dean said he would drop by the morgue to get the autopsy report to which they all agreed. Once Dean left the motel and headed to his car, he heard footsteps approaching, but before he could do anything that person quickly turned him around and pinned him to the car. Dean looked at the attacker and soon recognized his face, it was Damon, the consultant from the crime scene "The hell do you think you're doing?!" Dean shouted, Damon looked him dead in the eye as his pupils began to slightly dilate "Who are you and what are you doing here?"

no bc,,,, cas is the more protective parent between him and dean
like dean would drop jack off at his first date, but it would be cas who'd be picking him up and interrogating him, asking if they said anything mean to jack or if he thinks they're a good person
like dean would give jack a hug before bed each night and tell him that they're just down the hall if anything happens, but cas is the one obsessively checking the protection sigils around jack's room, making sure he's safe
like dean would teach jack how to drive, but cas is the one in the backseat hanging on for dear life and shouting, jack, too close to the mailbox on the left, JACK!
dean is there for jack. dean is jack's father, jack's protector, jack's mentor, jack's teacher, but cas? cas has something with jack that i don't think dean will ever have. cas has a raw bond with jack through blood, both shared and spilled, and it's cas who worries about jack every single second of the day, because while cas isn't biologically jack's parent, he's jack's mother, jack's last line of defense, jack's guide, the person who loves jack the most.
if jack died? dean would crumble, fall apart, never be himself again.
if jack died? cas would have already died first, knowing a child should never die before their mother.

final thoughts: supernatural season 14
this might be the first one of these posts i've made where i really just have no idea what to say. maybe once i get to writing that'll change, but i'm so neutral on this season that it's hard for me to really formulate anything concrete to write down here. hm.
actually this might be, perhaps, that i'm just getting really dreadfully bored of these last 5 seasons of the show. the novelty of the writers retconning things they find inconvenient, rewriting lore to suit their whims, forgetting plot points and character traits and lore, and generally warping the show beyond recognition has long since worn off at this point. i still had the energy to be annoyed in 11 and 12, i was just rolling my eyes about 13, but now i'm just kinda like. yeah this may as well happen. so maybe that's why i don't feel any particular way??? i'm not sure.
another thing i've come to realize, bitterly so, is that this show just isn't about sam and dean's relationship anymore. which is insane for The Sam And Dean Show. of course i understand why: after season 11, sam and dean are functionally married in their enmeshed psycho relationship, and there's nowhere else to go with this. they reached the pinnacle of their devotion and there's no more the writers can reasonably do with them. they're stable. and this is why season 12 and 13 both introduced new major recurring characters to help shape and develop sam and dean in relation to each other. 12 had mary to generate conflict between them, and 13 had jack. they both revealed new sides to sam and dean and explored forgotten or overlooked or underdeveloped parts of their identities, both as a unit and as individuals. season 14 continues that, because there's nothing else you can really do here.
that doesn't mean i don't find it boring, though, lol. i've had 11 seasons of sam and dean constantly rubbing against each other and finding themselves and choosing brother above all else, and this conflict has been the sole driving force of the series the whole time. everything else was just supporting backdrop to keep them moving, keep them stressed and on-edge so that they have to make those hard choices. but with the conclusion of season 11, they've stabilized. they know who they are and what they mean to each other, and what used to be backdrop is now all that's left. the show needed to introduce more characters to create conflict because sam and dean can't generate enough on their own. and that's great for them as people, but rough for a story. and i think now that i've recognized this and i've gotten through season 12 and season 13 and now season 14... the investment in me is lingering. fortunately i only have one season left, so i'm not too bothered by this all things considered.
as for season 14—i found the "jack is sick and dying" plot really hackneyed and boring and really poorly written. i kept likening him to that whole waifish victorian orphan boy who dies to teach the main characters a valuable life lesson because truly, that's how it played out. it was so boring i'm sorry jack. you didn't deserve that.
the soullessness was interesting, and i think the complete lack of healthy communication skills between all four of our main characters really did a good job of keeping that plot tense and constantly exacerbating in the worst ways. i'm honestly upset that mary died because i was so disappointed with how she was handled in season 13, and in season 14 she really just... didn't do much, so there wasn't much of an opportunity to fix what they broke before killing her off. i guess i'm used to that wasted potential though. just a bit disappointed is all 💔
most of the episodes were pretty good. 14.12 stands out as being one of my favorites because it returns to the core Sam And Dean Show themes, with them desperate to be on the same page and choose each other. that felt really really good, especially after so long without it. and 14.15 was pretty awesome too; i really loved how they handled both sam and jack's respective plots, and cas and dean were perfect supporting characters for them. it couldn't have worked any other way so it felt immensely satisfying. generally i didn't hate any of the episodes, so that's good.
i did REALLY like the final conflict with dean and the god gun and cas and jack and sam. i think the only thing that could have made it better would be to have sam fling himself in between dean and jack—to really make a statement about how he can't lose anyone else. like imagine: he doesn't even necessarily want to stop dean, but if dean's going to die then he's going with him. he can't lose dean, and he can't live with that grief. so he decides to go with them. it would have been soooo satisfying. play on season 13's "if we die, we do that together too" and their general obsession with each other. i wanted that so badly. i can't say i'm not disappointed </3 but otherwise? i really liked the four distinct perspectives on this conflict and how they clashed. cas really felt like a character in these last couple episodes, which is miraculous considering how boring i find him otherwise, and i appreciate that. this finale couldn't have happened without him, and that's awesome! and i like that sam was so conflicted—being so against dean's plans, but being so reluctant to contradict him and fight back. the level of reticence has been born from years of struggle and a true commitment to their enmeshment, and i could really feel it. it was played so well.
dean is obviously the "bad guy" here, taking the antagonistic stance to "do what he has to" and sacrificing himself yet again. it's so him, and i like that in his grief he jumps right back into self-mutilation and violence to an extreme, those horrible conditioned responses and behaviors that he's struggled with his whole life. it felt good to watch him fuck everything up. and it felt even better for jack to agree with him, to kneel down and allow it all to happen, even beg him to do it. to say dean was right, he's a monster. because like i said at the beginning of season 13, dean sees himself reflected in jack, and this is another layer of that. it's a very intimate moment between them, two monsters accepting their mutual destruction. i think the fact that dean can't do it reflects his hard-won desire for change and his compassion, and definitely his love for sam as well. he saves jack, he saves himself, he saves sam. there's a lot of layers and the fact that jack is the amalgamation of them makes this moment so intense and so meaningful.
also just in general dean perpetuating the cycle of violence through his son and yet at the same time being unwilling to kill him parallels with both 2.01 and with ummm 1.22? pretty sure that's the one where john is possessed. dean is unwilling to kill his family. john is unwilling to kill his family. he can kill himself but family is sacred. he loves them and that's evident even through the violence they both propagate. dean is a product of his raise, after all.
anyway all things considered i did actually think the season was pretty good, even though i'm rather bored of this show at this point lol. i just want to go back to kripke era already, which is exactly what i plan to do when i finish watching season 15 :) but for now i'm starting my detox because i have quite a few wincest fics lined up for me. amen and hallelujah 🙏

tbh i feel like dean never really cared about jack.
it's not even criticism of dean, he can dislike whoever he wants. but it's wild to me how many people think that dabb era dean is ooc, because he would have never hurt his family like this. but i don't think dean sees jack this way. throughout s13-15 dean is either hostile towards him or tolerant of him (it's mostly because cas and sam care about jack, and dean cares about them, so he's willing to peacefully coexist with jack). yeah, there's unhuman nature where dean teaches jack to drive and all that. but kid is literally dying, dean just has empathy and he can play father for a dying child for a day. and... that's all, this episode is probably only instance where dean takes care of jack.
so, dean saying in unity that jack isn't family isn't ooc or a lie. for dean he literally isn't.

Okay so I have this post-finale fix-it fic that lives in my head rent free and I hope to one day write it but basically
(Also I'm scribbling over the bits of canon I don't want and using the bits I do)
Jack decides that a new batch of angels can fight the war against newly rising evil supernatural creatures, instead of humans, because he's sad at seeing how hunting messes up their lives.
These new angels will be made using the souls of once-humans in heaven, given the chance to become lesser-powered angels and go down to earth to protect humans. But as the new angels are made with souls, they'll have the ability to feel and won't be as powerful as the purely grace-powered ones from before.
They'll be able to walk on earth in vessels created in the image of their previous bodies - as they were when they died.
They won't have to eat or sleep, and they can heal themselves and each other.
But the new angels will not just be soldiers fighting the war against newly emerging evil, they will be protectors and guardians - they will have the capacity for empathy and love and kindness.
Jack decides the people who will be given the chance to become the new angels are hunters who died too soon, or are unhappy with the unchanging, never ending peace in heaven.
Congratulations Dean! You're both of those!
Jack proposes the offer to Dean - be infused with grace enough to be one of these new angels and he can walk on earth again to hunt things and save people. Whilst also being able to come back to heaven to visit Sam (who Jack will leave alone and not ask) and the rest of the people he loves in heaven.
Dean considers the offer for a while, because while he is unfulfilled with his life in heaven - he drives around, he visits Bobby, he talks with Sam, he drives around some more, he drinks beer that isn't real, he visits his mom, and he tries not to dwell on his mistakes (of which there are many and heaven has infinite time to find them floating around his head)
So in the end he agrees.
(Sam thinks it's a bad idea)
Dean still hasn't spoken to Cas since coming to heaven, and wonders what his opinion would be on it...
So Jack tells Dean that his vessel will be made with the blueprint they already have, by someone who's already got the experience. And Dean's only got time to be like, Cas? before his vision whites out
And BAM! Then we get Dean, deposited back on earth into a familiar barn, looking exactly as he did when he crawled out of his grave many years ago, and Cas, who Jack gave a vessel to, looking exactly as he did when they first met.
And Cas just says, "hello, Dean."
And now that Dean is an angel, though a lower powered one, he needs help to control his powers, and he has to learn how to fly (ofc he has wings now) and how to shift between earth and heaven.
Cas is obviously his teacher
Dean has an angel blade, but the ones from the new angels are shorter. Like teeny tiny angelic murder daggers
They become a demon hunting, people saving, duo. And Dean has to navigate his feelings and Cas has to navigate his feelings but they're both very emotionally constipated and they dance around the fact that they are just, stupidly in love with each other at all times.
It's especially difficult for Dean when Cas has to get handsy to teach him how to use his powers.
The other new angels are young hunters (Jo!) or older hunters (Ellen!)
And Dean thrives in this new life.
There's the potential for angel power shenanigans - sometimes Cas will gently touch Dean's shoulder like he used to, but now whatever light bulb is nearby will pop in response to how Dean feels about it. (The first time they kiss the city they're in has a blackout.)
They heal each other when they're injured on a hunt, but the intricacies of touching each other for healing is full of so much sexual tension you could cut it with a knife.
And yeah. This is basically because I've seen a lot of fics argue over Endgame Angel!Cas vs Endgame Human!Cas and I was like, okay BUT how about Endgame Angel!Dean ????
And also we get the season 4 looking Cas and Dean destiel content we deserved

The Child is the Father of the Man - Teach Your Children Well SPNWin 1x02 (The Winchesters)
Tumblr media
You can tell Showalter directed this episode, because it’s filled with gorgeous shots of light and shadow, like this one of Mary above, and this one below of the Winchesters’ Garage:
Tumblr media
This young Mary is so much like Dean; searching for her hunter Dad, behaving like her Dad in spite of herself; his way, or the high-way, the Campbell way, as Lata says.
In the first image, above, you can see “C3″ on the wall beind her, military short-hand for “Command, Control, Communication”, as she orders her Scooby-Gang about.
But, this version of Mary later apologises to her friends for bossing them around, and for not listening, when Lata proves right that they’re not dealing with a shapeshifter, as Mary had insisted, but with La Tunda, eater of disobedient children, who appears to troubled youth as their punishing parent figure and feeds on their life-force.
Tumblr media
This young John and Mary, like Sam and Dean, Sam and Cas, seem to have a lot of conversations as they’re driving. Mary is the driver, John rides shotgun; symbolic of the fact that she is the leader, in this world of hunting:
Tumblr media
But their conversations are emotionally supportive of one another; unlike the many angry silences or arguments in the Impala in Supernatural.
John and his mother reconcile, in this episode, despite their earlier fight, and she promises never to let him leave again without telling him she loves him (some Destiel echoes in there), And look at the sign on the garage wall, watching over this conversation - doesn’t it look like a pair of angel wings?
Tumblr media
The lessons which came so hard to Dean because of his childhood trauma (listening not bossing, more open emotional communication, saying “sorry”, saying “I love you”) are finding resolutions, involving much greater emotional literacy, amongst these kids (and between John and his Mum).
The Hippie Commune leader, Clyde, was wearing a triskelion which the camera zooms in on, and the Scooby Gang discuss as a symbol of “transformation”:
Tumblr media
It’s almost as if Narrator-Dean is re-writing the story of his parents, to provide them with a security and emotional warmth (despite their own traumas and parent-issues) which they lacked in Universe One (Supernatural).
The triskelion is also a trinity - in SPN One’s Biblical universe that would be - the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.
Chuck was the author and sometimes the overtly in-story narrator of the SPN One universe, eventually (perhaps, although, perhaps not, given the shitty 15x20 ending, which had Chuck’s bad writing all over it) replaced by his son, Jack.
Is Dean the Holy Ghost in the machine of this Supernatural AU, The Winchesters? Taking on a god-like function as the story-teller?
But unlike Chuck, Dean is not a cruel and capricious God, toying with his characters for his own amusement.
It’s as if Dean is teaching his own parents, how to be better equipped and more secure. The child, Narrator-Dean, has somehow become the parent of his own parents, and is attempting, like the Crosby, Stills and Nash song of the epiisode title, to “teach the children well”.
Perhaps this narrative has been designed as a healing journey, for John and Mary, and for us, the traumatised SPN audience...
