The Social Media Manager: The Series (Part 2)
Another installment of the social media manager series
Another shout out to @thebearsoc for the inspiration!
The Moodboard/OG blurb
Part 1 Introductions and Donuts
Tumblr media
Meetings, Meetings, Meetings
~
“Wait, wait, wait-” Richie started rubbing a hand against the back of his head, “You’re tellin’ me, Marcus’s party girl 20-somethin’ year old friend is getting access to our social media? That’s bull, and you know it, Natalie.”
Natalie rolled her eyes and glanced in Marcus’s direction, “Marcus, Rusty has done this before, right?”  he nodded before explaining, “Nat, Richie, I’m tellin’ ya’, Rusty is really good at this shit. Just give her a shot.”
Carmy entered the sitting area of The Bear and sat next to Natalie without saying anything, “I don’t think we can afford this, Marcus. I’m sure Rusty is a wonderful social media manager, but the budgets tight.” Natalie sighed, staring at her computer screen.
“That's the thing- you guys have a hookup.” Marcus grinned, hoping that this would be enough of a selling point. “Rusty owes me one. She’d probably do the setup for free, and I can do all the posting. She helped me redo my account when I came back from Cophegan- I went from like 100 followers to like 1,000 in a month.”
Carmy looked around the group before nodding in Marcus’s direction, “Call her.”
Carmy stood up and walked out of the dining area through the kitchen and into the office, where his phone had been plugged in to charge. He quickly opened his phone, went to the seldomly used Instagram app, typed in your handle, and smiled as your account came up. He’d been Instagram stalking you since he’d heard Marcus giving Syd your handle. She’d laughed about it being a reference to a K-pop group he’d never heard of; granted, he’d never really listened to any of those groups. So far, he’d learned that you have an eclectic taste in music, an affinity for putting googly eyes on potted plants, a love for fancy coffees with overpriced pastries, and had, in fact, known Marcus since high school. He liked your style. There was something free about it; he admired your creativity. Carmy took notes about you through the account. Your highlight reels being indicative of your personality, the ‘Rusty cooking??’ highlight reel was particularly traumatizing. He wondered how you’d gotten into your 20s without knowing how to actually chop an onion, but he could show you how to do it properly; just the idea of that made his heart flutter. Carmy was incredibly attracted to you, but when you’d posted a boomerang of you kissing a guy’s cheek and tagged the guy’s account with a heart emoji, he was worried this would be another unrequited crush.
When you walked into The Bear the next day in a pair of trousers with your hair up and a pair of glasses perched on your nose, Carmy felt like his heart was going to explode. He beelined for the bathroom to make sure he didn’t have anything in his teeth and washed his hands in an attempt to get the smell of cigarettes off his hands before going to talk to you.
“So that’s what I would recommend doing for TikTok. The algorithm is tricky, but once you get on its good side, it can be really great publicity.” Carmy swallowed as he listened to you explain your strategy to Natalie and Richie. Natalie seemed impressed, while Richie seemed wary. “This is all really great Rusty. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.” Natalie smiled as she shuffled a pile of documents into a yellow folder. You shrugged and responded with a playful laugh before explaining that work had been slow at the moment, so you had some extra free time to take a peak at the analytics you could see without access to the account details.
After Richie and Natalie said their goodbyes, Richie was still seemingly cold toward hiring a social media manager and you in general. The two of them discussed it as they walked toward the kitchen. Carmy waited until they had walked through the kitchen door before approaching you. If he struck out with you he’d prefer not to do it within earshot of his sister and Richie; he’d never live it down. “Hey.” Carmy greeted awkwardly, rocking on his heels.
You smiled back, “Hey you. Long time no see.” Carmy blushed at your flirtatious tone. “How you doin’ Carmy? Spendin’ a lot of time on Instagram, huh?”
Carmy needed some clarification on the comment. You noticed and giggled before explaining, “You liked a picture on my account from like two years ago.” Carmy tightly grinned out of embarrassment. He hesitantly nodded, “Uh yeah—Marcus recommended you do our social media stuff… I just wanted to check out what you post.”
He hoped he saved himself, but self-doubt was taking over. He watched as you began twirling a strand of hair on your index finger. “It’s okay, Carmy. I think you’re cute, and I’m going out on Friday with a couple of friends… if you happen to show up at this bar across town called The White Rabbit, I might let you buy me a drink.”
Carmy was speechless. He was by no means an experienced dater, and within that limited experience, he’d never had a girl come onto him like this. You noticed his awkwardness and found it endearing. “No pressure. You can also just call me sometime.”
You pulled a Sharpie out of your bag and grabbed Carmy’s wrist to write your number across his forearm, “Bye, Carmy.” you winked before walking past him, making sure he’d get a whiff of your perfume.
“B-bye Rus-sty.” Carmy managed to stutter out as he watched you walk out of the front entrance. He pushed the heel of his hand against his jaw. You were different, and it scared him, but also found it enchanting.

BPD Scaramouche Pt.2
We’re back again with another scara with my bpd life experiences. But this time. I’m gonna make a list of things that I’ve done in a relationship and what I feel like he’d do as well. So here you go 🖤
Tumblr media
He’s very loyal to you, obsessed really, he loves everything about you
He spends his time with you memorizing everything he could about you. Down to the very last detail.
His love language is a bit of a mix, but the top ones are gift giving and words of affirmation. He enjoyed physical touch a lot contrary to popular belief. But he’s not one to be ok with PDA.
Lots of pet names. And I mean a lot. Not really a trial and error thing but more like the more cute pet names he has for you the better.
His favorites to use are “bubs, honey, and sweetheart.”
Hyper sexual and touchy but also touch starved. Loves the idea of being able to feel you up and be felt up sensually without venturing further after that.
If you’re just friends with him, but give him anything from a pet name to special attention— he’ll flirt with you and become obsessed if it’s enough.
Can and will have meltdowns/anxiety attacks if he doesn’t feel heard when he’s talking or arguing
Will offer to use arson, murder, and multiple kinds of vehicles to crush anyone who hurts or annoys you
Recommends gaslighting as a way to prevent yourself from trouble
Loves stuffed animals. Buys way too many that match his aesthetic and will hurt anyone who gets them dirty.
Will go above and beyond for gifts. It doesn’t matter how much money, time or effort it takes. For you, anything and everything was always worth it.
Will keep a book with your info in it. From blood type to family and friends along with how to contact them
If you’re not home when he is or you disappear. He’ll freak out and do everything in his power to track you down if you’re gone for too long
If the above thing happens and he has to track you down. Where ever you are he WILL tackle you and have a sort of meltdown admitting how he thought something happened to you
He’d rather die than let anyone think they’ll ever have a chance with you. He loves showing you off every where he goes.
He’ll never miss a chance to kiss you. Sit you on his lap, hug you, fight someone for you, or hold your waist and rub circles in them
Is a sucker for love notes/poems. If he’s ever upset with you. No matter how big or small, slip him one of those and he’ll be easier to talk to than ever
Soft spots? Target his neck, hair, waist, and legs. Best way to really overpower him if you want.
If you’re taller than him >>>> use that to your advantage. He secretly loves when you’re taller
Let him pick you up, treat you like royalty. But he will expect the same treatment in return
Hates when people are overly sexual upon first meeting. He’ll push you away and get disgusted
Takes anywhere from a few months to a few years to open up entirely and it all depends on trust
When he gets comfortable he can be so raunchy and down bad it’s scary and can sometimes be addicting. All dependent on your taste
Does well with kids. But hates them. Likes laughing at the dumb stuff they do.
Loves doing your hair. And if he doesn’t know how to do something. He will learn just for you.
Will dress you up like his own little doll, he just loves the idea that he gets to make you all the more pretty and show off the outfits he makes for you to wear throughout your day.
Steals your clothes to sleep with them/wear them around all day. He doesn’t care what it is. If he can fit it into his outfits trust he’s wearing it.
A conversation held after you were gone for a surprise commission for 12 hours:
[Your Name]”What did you do?! There’s 200 missed calls on my phone and over 40 text messages on each app!”
[Scara]“At least you know I care. I even called a few hospitals to make sure you weren’t admitted. So ungrateful.”
[Name] “Why did you do that?! This is so baaad!”
[Scara] “If you think that’s bad wait until you find out I told every hospital we’re engaged to be married. Haha!”
You didn’t find that part very funny
Anyways. This concludes another part to Scara with BPD! Let me know if you’d like more and my ask box is very very open. 💋

Note
hi, i was following the discussion around the ask regarding the “top shortage” article, and i’m honestly a prime example of the issue at hand; i don’t think i’ve ever initiated a successful interaction and thus far my sexual history has relied entirely on being approached by others.
there’s some garden variety fear of rejection (the mortifying ordeal of being known and all that) and some autism at play but what i find interesting and have been completely unable to unpack, is that i am in fact a quite effective communicator if i come across someone else who is also able to communicate well. the greatest hurdle in my experience is that trying to state my needs, ask for what i want, and solicit the same from the other person if they are not operating on a very high level of communication and transparency feels like swimming upstream through molasses. i simply don’t know how to navigate what feels like interrogating the other person just trying to small talk because they’re giving me single sentence answers with no elaboration on any discussion topic
you stated as a contrapoint to the idea of a top shortage that in your experience regardless of what community or sub-community you’re in “[when i make] any active attempt [] i’m drowning in options” . i’m understandably envious of this. really what i’m asking is what is the anatomy of an “active attempt”? is there a bullet list or perhaps a flow chart for how to guide the interaction towards the kind of discussion actually leads to getting laid?
So first, I'll say that while communication is always an interplay between at least two people and it must be responsive and dynamic (and if one can't communicate with a variety of types of people, one is not a good communicator) -- you can't squeeze water from a stone. There are many bad communicators online and in the kink and dating scenes, and if you find someone is sending the dryest possible texts imaginable and not giving you anything to work with, it's usually time to cut your losses and move on.
That said. Not everyone can easily put all their fantasies into words at the drop of a hat, but that doesn't mean they can't express their desires. This is where having a kinky tumblr or redgifs account or fetlife can really come in handy. Everyone has hang ups about what they want to some degree, and everybody runs out of ideas sometimes, and so trading pics and fics and porn videos back and forth with one another and taking note of what a partner of yours likes/reblogs and folding that into your own sexual repetoir is always an excellent move that shows you are considerate and communicative -- and it is itself a form of communication.
Some of my best partners over the years have been people who've been able to use the sending of an erotic gif or short story or video to get the conversation going and direct attention and desire. Plus exploring one another's kinks can really expand your own sexual palate of things you're into or down for, which means more future adventures for you either way! Communication is not only words, it's an act of inviting another person into your realm of experience and that can be physical, visual, aural etc.
As for how to go about actively communicating on say, fetlife or a dating app (or even tumblr, i've met people on here!):
I write in moderate detail about what I'm into, and I make it sound hot and fun! It's not a laundry list of expectations that I have in a partner or play scene, it's not a diatribe about hang ups or frustrations I've had on the site or with other people, it's bubbly, and infectious, and outlines some of my favorite things to do.
I've heard many times from strangers that even just reading my profile(s) has opened up their interest to a whole realm of activities and play themes that had never ever appealed to them before. This means I get a lot of curious questions and interest right off the bat, and from there I can review people's own profiles, ask them what they are into (that's usually how I word it, what are you into, or what kinds of play have you gotten into lately, etc), and take it from there. It always evolves pretty naturally because I take a genuine interest in people and want to hear all about their past activities and present interests and it flows easily from there.
And on the flip side, if I see that someone else is cute, or they have mutual interests to mine, I reach out to them, tell them how I feel, ask questions relevant to the kink, and again just direct a lot of interested genuine attention their way while also sharing excitedly about the stuff i've done and the things i'm into. In either case, whether I've been contacted or am contacting someone, if the vibes are good I move pretty quickly to escalate to actually meeting up or doing something, usually within a few days (or that same night if its that kinda app lol).
I dont know, if the interest is mutual and both parties are open and excited it all moves pretty easily! Doesn't mean every encounter is all that much fun, some people you just dont have chemistry with in person -- but you want to identify people who are compatible and who can express themselves openly as quickly as possible, kindle that connection, and then escalate it to real contact quickly as well. And communicating openly is not about being the best writer or orator, it's a question of spirit -- is the person closed off, or are they genuinely excited to share themselves with you and to take you in. And that's worth asking about oneself as well: am i an open, enthusiastic, present listener. but, like i said, this also means ignoring or fading away on plenty of dry, nothing-there messages.
I wonder if in your case getting more in touch with who and what you desire in an active way rather than a responsive way could be helpful, since you mentioned mostly only having success when approached. Maybe you can challenge yourself to find at least five people you find hot and message them this week. And take notice of feelings that you have about that, or people that you tell yourself you don't deserve to message, or any other points of resistance you feel internally and what that resistance sounds/feels like. and then contacting the person anyway.

Possible accessible OSDDID App Review
Simply Plural !
Tumblr media
Facts:
What type of app it is: An app for tracking what parts/alters are fronting
Compatibility: Seems to be available for apple and android products, as well as browser support
Size: 66.5 MB
Internet required: Yes
Does it share my data?: You’re able to share your information with friends. Most things are set to be private initially
Lockable: You can log off as needed
Light and dark mode are available in-app as well as syncing with your device’s settings. There’s also a more accessible font option, which I thought was a nice touch.
~
Personal thoughts:
Personal difficulty using(0 being the most easy, 10 being impossible): 9
How easy to add your parts: 2
How easy to switch between parts: 7-8?? It took me a long time to figure out how to even do this, but once you figure out how its maybe a 5
Personal avoidance level: 10, no parts wanted to use this app
Safe to say, I’m perplexed by this app. Let me show you some screenshots
Tumblr media
We start with this clusterfuck of options. As someone who’s dissociating and dyslexic all these different directions that hold the exact same weight as eachother are really confusing! A young or badly confused part might think User Report is the same thing as making a note of who’s out right now
Maybe this is helpful to someone, but to me, it looked like way too much even on a present day
Tumblr media
This is the ‘Members’ list. Where all the parts are listed. There are a lot of symbols here that aren’t listed in any of the help sections that I’ve had to clumsily figure out by trial and error. Like apparently the arrows next to the names are.. Making a note of who’s here in the moment? I had no idea until just now.
Also they’re sorted alphabetically. Never in the history of Ever have I sorted my parts this way?? Sorry, this is the stuff I’m really specific about.
Evidently the bottom buttons are how to view who’s fronting at the moment. I can’t figure out what ‘custom front’ is for
Tumblr media
Here’s what a part looks like when you open them up from the list. You have a lottttt of info you can go through and add using the icons at the top. I like that it has this many options for people who are probably a lot more serious for the use of the app.
When I first used it some years ago, I had no idea the Visibility was an option, so you might want to make sure it’s set to what you need it to be to feel secure (Private, shown to trusted friends, or shown to all friends)
Tumblr media
Here’s the side bar, with lots and lots of options again, but at least these are a little more sorted and I would’ve preferred this for the main page.
Now, let’s look at Add Front Entry...
Tumblr media
Okay, so there’s a detailed front entry and a quick front entry option. The detailed front entry looks like this:
Tumblr media
....
My dear OSDDID friends, I ask you, Do you know how long the part previous to yourself started fronting, from the date, the hour, the minute?? and when they stopped???????? Not even you, the previous parts who were here.
Tumblr media
I think the quick entry would’ve been better if you could add the hours options yourself, because most everyone I know with a dissociative disorder has a very different rate of switching, and 2 hours is not enough for the people who might switch once in days or weeks. (I personally shift from one group of parts to another every few days to a week)
At this point if you’re thinking that “She just doesn’t understand, I’ve been using this app and it just takes a learning curve to use..”, I invite you to realize that this app has no margin for error, no lenience for our I Don’t Know Myself Disorder, no room for considering dissociation and it’s varying forms and general blurriness.
I wondered for a moment why it was like this...
Tumblr media
Ah-ha.
The Plural Association is organization that hopes to eliminate the difference between OSDDID and non-disordered plurality, effectively de-medicalizing a Dissociative Disorder.
I read some of these links and quite a few of them focused on the ‘beautiful mind of having plurality’ rather than the dark reality of where a dissociative disorder comes from, being a trauma disorder. Downplaying DID as ‘Not Getting Along With Your Headmates’ disorder. There was just enough reasonable and flowery language for them to sprinkle blatant misinformation throughout, tricking you into believing things that may be harmful if you actually have a Disorder that needs treatment.
I have no doubt that people with non-disordered plurality are experiencing something. I can’t claim to know enough about someone’s mind to say otherwise, of course. I think saying Endogenics don’t exist shuts down people who might actually need help.
However, the mixture of OSDDID and Endogenics like this is very very harmful when it comes to creating ‘accessibility’ like this. It takes away from the actual point of what would be helpful for someone with a DD, like communication between parts, the slow breakdown of dissociative barriers, and for many, the lesser separation between parts and goals towards coming together.
The Plural Association wants you to be separate, but also know all parts, which can be incredibly dangerous to venture into yourself if you have a lot of trauma(and therefore parts) you don’t know.  Integration, Fusion, and taking it slowly and at the pace recommended by a professional, are really wonderful and personal parts of healing and shouldn’t be snubbed out by the pressure to be As Plural As Possible. Exactly like this app does
Final thoughts:
This app is needlessly complicated. I mean, maybe it can be really helpful if you go through and learn everything about it. I’ve only been picking at it for a week and barely scratched the surface. I feel like it must be like an art program, it takes you a lot of hard work and practice to settle into using it.
The premise is not at all for me. Not in all my years of knowing and figuring out my DID have I ever found it useful to *just* have a record of who switched when. Sure, it can be enlightening. But I’d find a lot more use in a text app where my Personas can make note of what’s going on in the moment, how they’re feeling, why they’re there.
Simply Plural is not at ALL simple or accessible to the common dissociated user.(me) Many times I peeked at it, I got confused easily and lost. It feels like a winding house where one room leads to the next and the next without hallways.
It’s a lot especially for people who have less distinct parts too. or many of them! they’d all be placed in the same alphabetical order without any distinction between distinct and nondistinctive parts, or subsystems.
I’m extremely uncomfortable that you could technically find people on here, and find their information if they didn’t have the right privacy settings on. I didn’t feel completely safe putting all my parts on here, capping it at the main 16. Even more so, there’s the ability to give someone a ‘token’, which is customizable access to your information, including being able to write and add things, as well as delete them. I could easily see an abuser use this for the worst. What in the world?!?!?
I try to keep my reviews light and positive because I believe there’s merit in any DID media to various ranges of accessibility for people. But this one I just cannot recommend. I hope you understand my points as to why
If this app works for you, dissociation and all, then I’m really glad for you! If you’re endogenic and don’t have dissociative issues, maybe it’s more suited to whatever it is you...do with your parts? ? (I don’t know enough, sorry)
Would I recommend this app to someone with OSDDID? Nope.

Note
would genuinely love to see your process for sketching out your comics!! ive wanted to make my own but i have never really figured out the process and end up overwhelmed- and you're one of the folks who makes stuff in a style that I kinda draw close to, and u do ur comics with pencil and paper- so if you wouldn't mind in the future, it'd be really cool to see how you actually get everything planned :)
This ask is so cute :( probably genuinely the biggest compliment I've ever received! Well, no waiting in the future! I'll tell you now what happens behind the scenes! :)
SO FIRSTLY, I'd like to clarify I am in no way a professional or even close to one, I never even looked up how to do comics, I just kinda do them and use what I've read from DC comics and Pinterest tips.
But! Personally, I find that making comics is fun and that's what I strive on. I won't lie when I say my comics are pretty bland, the surroundings are empty and lame but I think the character's expressions and body language make up for it, and especially the script. So altogether in this post, I'll be breaking down how my comics are made!
↓↓↓ if you're interested, open up the full post!
1 - Scripting
In both dialogue and character detail/placing!
I use a notes app for when I get ideas!
* I usually don't do specific dialogue, only stating the idea and then coming up with dialogue in my head, but there are some exceptions where I do write down pre-thought-out dialogues you can see in the examples I put below!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With the idea / dialogue in tow, we can go to character detail / placing. I don't know the actual word for it but basically how the character acts in a specific scene / dialogue!
Character expression is especially important when it comes to any type of art, be it comics or animation as it can tell a story with little to no dialogue!
* panels taken from 1 and 2 for context
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From here you can clearly tell their expressions well! Be sure to exaggerate!
2 - Limit planning
With Tumblr's 10 images limit, as well as Instagram if you post there, it's important to note that limit and know when to end the comic with a good panel where it doesn't feel like it's supposed to continue UNLESS you're making two parts!
I can't tell you how many times I've ruined my sketchbook papers trying to get a perfect script but I've been doing it long enough that my brain has adapted to the limit and every comic I've done since adapting had been a perfect ≤10.
But even if you decide to go with two (or maybe even more) parts, you should make sure it ends well still! Like a book! Those spaces between paragraphs and chapters and such!
Take these for examples too!
* panels taken from 1 and 2 for context
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So treat it like a book! I guess ?
3 - Panel placement
This isn't a necessity, but my personal way of drawing each panel is having it scattered around randomly around my sketchbook. I don't use strips or anything like that as it restricts me because using strips on paper is a whole lot harder than on digital. Because I have such a wide area to draw, I'm less restricted from drawing any excess things I want to add in case my dialogue doesn't fit the panel or so!
4 - Draw
Now to put it all together and make the comic! I usually already have my vision in mind so I can just go draw it without a light sketch layer, but I do recommend it!
What that is is essentially a sketch but drawn like.. your pencil is hovered above the page? Like you don't press down on it or something like that. Basically a guideline! So do that if you need it, and when you're satisfied with how it looks, you can draw it! And make sure it's clear!
After that, it's just picture and post! (Make sure you crop it right tho!)
4.5 - BONUS / TIPS
When I started posting Belos drawings, I never expected it to get any attention or even end up as a whole AU 😭 I just drew him in a babygirl hoodie and people ate that shit up so now it's an AU 💀 and because of that you need to prepare personalized tags!
Tags like pitmdau or sharing caleb au ! Very very useful for navigation
More important than tags, make sure you have a Masterpost!
I'm aware mine are unfinished and very messy and I'm trying to work on that right now but it's very difficult but people really need it so when making Masterposts, YOU HAVE KEEP UP WITH IT. I slacked of for ONE POST and now it's a mess.
Also another important note you can only put 100 links in one post so you have to make more Masterposts to navigate through the comics 😭
5 - Have fun!
When getting into comic making, I think really the most important thing to keep in mind is your enjoyment in making said comics. Sometimes some things can burn you out very quickly so when you're getting into things like this, especially when you're not getting paid, you gotta make sure you have fun doing it. It doesn't matter if it doesn't get a lot of traction or not, it only matters that you are enjoying making and posting them!
I've experienced MULTIPLE burn outs from making too many comics for my TOH AUs that at some point I just completely died and lacked motivation. But what drives me into making them are other people's enjoyment! Their enjoyment gives me enjoyment which gives me motivation to make more. Someday I'll know the AUs I've created will inevitably be over, at some point, but right now I'm just having fun with the small community I've built!
So make comics, and have fun!
I hope this was helpful in any way. I just want to clarify that, again, this is my way of making comics, and you don't have to follow anything I put into the post. I'm mostly hoping this was easy to understand as well. I'm more of a visual learner so making up the words to make this was kinda hard so I'm sorry if some parts didn't make sense. If anything, feel free to hit me with another ask or a PM! I know me not posting seems like I'm inactive but I promise I check Tumblr frequently 😭
Happy posting!!! :3

how do you plan your stories?
great question.
tbh, i don't really have an answer for this one! i don't wanna say it just sorta happens, but it just...sorta happens. on one hand, i send my friends 500 texts a day each about various things and then just stack thoughts and musings in my notes in the early stages, and then on the other, i make detailed outlines and go from there.
take the priest novel i just planned to start as of literally yesterday. it's been an idea in my head since november 2022, but it's taken so many forms since then, it's quite different now. as of right now, i'm just sending my aforementioned 500 texts a day—starting very small. character names, basic appearances, basic dynamics, and later on i'll move to bigger stones like character histories, overarching plots and arcs, and then into the building blocks of scenes, chapters, and The Novel.
so while i flip through baby books and shuffle through pinterest for inspiration, i also just have sporadic things that jump out to me and i hurry to pin it down. with the suicide blonde series (not the name, i just don't have a series name yet), i had a template of a series to jump off of and just changed and culled where needed. i hardly remember planning the original, but having a band timeline to base my arcs and general plot lines off of made things infinitely easier. i always knew, sorta, what i was working toward.
with the untitled priest story, i got nothing. this story is dust in my brain right now. i have an opening scene, i have an almost ending scene, i have the emotional climax, and i have various other visions in wisps that are out of order and literally just visions in my head. a lot of walks in the park (literally), an emphasis on meals and conversation as keys to the heart (body and soul), a phone call or two with an older sister, a fair deal of loveless sex. the works. i have three folded up sticky notes on my nightstand right now about the main characters' personal theory on grief being a bus that will never come that i scribbled while at work yesterday and makes sense to nobody but me. there are so many holes, so many stretches of nothing. granted, this will be an intense character study, single pov, lots of depressed monologue set beside lengthy conversations shared between the two mains, and a very small cast (my speciality and many others' personal hell), so plot isn't at the top of my list, but there still needs to be something. i haven't found it yet, but i'm only on day two out here!
when i do sort of establish all the major beats of the book, however, i will outline. so when people ask how i plan my books, i first say that i leave notes in places all over. i'm in a researching stage right now, so i write and sticky-tab and make notes in my notes app or amass everything on a doc, but i will also just have long notes in my notes app about scene ideas, themes, random bits of dialogue, etc. the second thing i will tell people is that i plan. i am a planner! always have been, always will be. if you are a pantser, i'm afraid none of my writing advice will be helpful. i've never been one to write something and say "oh, i'll see where it goes." no, i need to know. outlining may also save you re-reading a pantsed first draft and having to throw half of it out, because at least with an outline, however terribly written draft 1 ends up being, there is much more likely to be a coherent structure. but it's just personal preference. the type of outline i use depends on the book. with the SB series, i have a very, very large one that puts the chapter summaries (long) in boxes and also includes timelines, date stamps, locations (for touring), and personal timelines for character arcs, relationship arcs, band arcs, etc. so i don't lose track of anybody in my ensemble cast. they look a little something like this:
Tumblr media
the outline is divided into three acts, each act 3 beats, each beat like 4 chapters, i believe. the standard set up is the 3 act, 27 chapter outline (3 acts, 3 beats per act, 3 chapters per beat). i just adjusted it for my 36 chapter deal (do not do this unless you want to meet publishable word counts, take it from me :|)
with this priest deal, however, it's much more minimalist. very ambitious in how smart it will have to be—how deep and thought-provoking, i guess—which is the big battle for me (the challenge), but very minimalist in setting, scenes, and expansiveness to make up for the intensity of the characters and their emotions. so the outline will probably reflect that and will probably be much smaller. it might still generally have the acts going on, the general beats, but because its not really a romance (it is, but it isn't (but it is)) and it doesn't have a big plot, the structure is looser. it's literary fiction in place of genre fiction, which isn't bound to as rigid of expectations such as where your inciting incident, climax, and resolution should be, etc. but i don't know yet, exactly, how this book will pan out. i'm excited to find out, of course, but i'm not certain.
i will just say that, for me, it depends on the needs of the story. some need more intensity than others and some appear in my head more vividly than others. i will never advise against outlining, obsessive note-taking, and productive research, however.

Hello
I started looking into radical feminism a little over a year ago while I was rebuilding and repairing the damage to my life caused by men. It gave me a sense of belonging and made me think critically about a lot of things I had always taken for granted. I especially enjoyed how everyone seemed to encourage one another to question everything consistently. It was very good for my outlook and mental health.
Over time, the posts seemed to shift from educational to sensational. Im not saying this was the fault of the posters, I’m just saying what I experienced. It went from primarily discussing nuanced topics with no real answer which i thoroughly enjoyed since it encouraged thought, to primarily posts highlighting the depravity of men. I tried to filter these out as the thought of women being brutalized can cause me distress and panic.
The biggest shift, however, happened when I expressed my opinion on female separatism. I am quite pro and strongly believe that it is one of the best things you can do for yourself and your female loved ones. I did not understand in the slightest how women who claimed to be radical feminists could marry a man while continuing to hold their beliefs and values. I expressed this. I was blocked by a few mutuals and even more radfems I had never even spoken to. I knew upon making a “radblr” account that I would be blocked by half of tumblr but I didnt think it would be by the same people preaching to question everything and have open nuanced discussions. I considered deleting then because the website became almost unusable.
Instead, i found other radfems to follow. I became less likely to express an idea i was unsure of. I started step back from radblr as a place of learning and discussion and viewed it as an anonymous social media website. I was overwhelmed with the amount of posts detailing abuse and femicide. I understand that these events need attention for things to change, but as they were it felt more dirty. Like exploiting their stories for rage bait.
So with little to no traction on posts trying to discuss nuanced feminist topics and an overflow of notes on any silly dumb argument post, I, without intending to, began to seek out more fights. I noticed that I became more prone to showing my ass by replying with what i knew would get the most attention. I am not perfect. I crave attention and community like anyone else. When I became aware of what I was doing, I deleted the tumblr app. I felt weirdly empty and only managed to stay off tumblr for about three days. After that three days I saw the “I love men” post that I showed my whole ass on.
After that interaction was done, I started getting anons asking me how I could use the “dont forget your birth control” line since it was so obviously misogynistic and lesbiphobic. This would have been the ideal type of nuanced discussion i love if that’s what it had been. Is that line misogynistic? Why or why not?
But thats not what happened. What did happen was mutuals calling me names and blocking me. Radfems talking about how they always suspected I was lesbiphobic. I guess that was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I realized that, at least for that account, everything I enjoyed about radblr was all but lost and everything I hated about the fandom/tra account I had was there. At this point I am just trying to stay off social media entirely, but it has become obvious that I am addicted to it. Pretty evident since I’m even typing this huh?
I may come back. I may not. Idk rn. We’ll see but for right now, I just wanted to tell someone why I deleted. I thought about making a post but that would be kinda dumb right? Haha.
I’d love to find a new place to discuss and philosophize but I dont think social media is the place to do it. Its not whats rewarded here.
Good luck and happy discussion, critical thought, and feminism!
-the blog formerly known as @lookupmedicalmisogyny
*for context: a while ago i made a post asking what happened to lookupmedicalmisogyny and she found it and sent me this anon :)*
not 100% sure if I should or shouldn't post this but hey it's whateva.
i totally agree that a lot of radblrs most popular posts nowadays are ragebait/sensational type posts that feel heavily focused on women's suffering or arguing with others on here, rather than educating or respectful discussions between our community. i don't really mind as I just scroll past stuff like that if I know it'll emotionally stress me out or if I find it uninteresting. these past 2 years anyway I've just used radblr to have fun with my mutuals/keep up with them and have a configurated feed to scroll made up from like-minded and or funny women. of course this works for me because I already got to experience and read well written and thought out posts when i was first getting into radical feminism. i mean one should read theory from genuine essays and books, but you can't disagree that quite a lot of girls and young women are first being introduced to radical feminism from social media ("properly" ig opposed to just thinking about it themselves). i think what a lot of women need are irl communities, and they replace that with online communities, because in person can be scary or difficult to do.
anyway kinda off topic there. i didn't see the post that you're talking about, so I'm not sure about any lesbophobic allegations. im not sure how "don't forget to take your birth control" could be considered lesbophobic according to a radblr prospective so idk 🤔 i do miss your educational posts. i remember them bringing topics to light that I had never known about when i was first getting away from liberal/capitalistic "feminism" that i was indoctrinated into as a kid. perhaps you could have one blog for writing serious/important posts for the feminist community and another more personal one that's for fun and to talk about mutuals. while I don't think online community is exactly the best, I wouldn't entirely discredit it. after all it allows us to connect with women all over the world and learn about their experiences! that's pretty awesome. and i can imagine men don't like the idea of women learning about our historical and worldwide oppression, connecting with women everywhere, and understanding intersectional feminism lol. i guess to sum it up as long as you have in person community that's involved with your local government and helping women near you, then i think online stuff is fine and actually a positive thing as well.
do what u feel is best for yourself! social media can be extremely damaging nowadays so take it easy and I hope everything gets better :·)

for the fanfic writer emoji ask:
🥺⛔️🌞🦅👀⌛️🛠
i could ask about all of them really but do we have that kind of time
Hello there!!
🥺 Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?
This questions is kinda vague, bc are we talking canon moments or something I like to write... so I'll do both!
Canon-wise I'm excited to see them meet again, yeah on Annie's titan hand, but also after it's all over, because then they'd be sure they actually made it out and have each other. The relief on their faces is what I'm anticipating to kill me
Fanon-wise, I like aurani hugs. Just big warm bear hugs because even super early on in their relationship, I think those would be Annie's weakpoint and she'd always relax into them
⛔ Do you have a fic you started, but scrapped?
I answered it here previously, but if I were to think of something else... I may or may not have seriously considered (and planned to some extent) a modern AU following the plot of the k-drama: Healer. Annie would be the notorious night courier, while Armin is the aspiring journalist who eventually joins the Survey Corps newspaper (Someday News) started by renowned senior Journalist Erwin Smith, so they can expose political corruption without being silenced.
On a side note I'd 10/10 recommend it! It's only 20 episodes long and the characters are a blast!
On a second side note: why did I scrap this, it sounds so good :|
🌞 Do you have a preferred time of day to write?
Preferably as soon as I wake up, early in the morning. I had my best writing days preparing the word document while eating my breakfast. But on occasion, I'll stay up late writing or put down something real quick in the afternoon
but yeah MORNING!
🦅 Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants?
To various degrees of detail, yes! I do like keeping it minimal so I don't constrict myself, but even for oneshots, I like having a bullet points outline of just the events that'll happen in 1-2 lines each. (though I very rarely do a rough first draft unless I'm desperate and resorting to the Most Dangerous Writing App)
👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!
I'm looking to go back to Slow and Steady with more one-shots, and here are the prompts I've already planned on using:
Tumblr media
⌛ How long does it take you to write a fic, or a chapter?
depends! oh my god does it depend! I've thrown together 4k one-shots and smut one-shots in one afternoon, but some chapters I have to force myself to just write around 400 words every day.
so:
Tumblr media
🛠What tools/programs/apps do you use to write?
For writing: WPS Office docs, comic sans at size 12, 0.5 line spacing between paragraphs, page color set to dark gray. (I know this sounds hyperspecific, but I can't write in any other setting)
For notes: Google Keep on my phone on dark mode with the live widget so I can write something as soon as I get an idea for it. I've written thousands of words worth of scenes for BW and other fics just on this
***
Hope this was good :D

Always looking for new songs to listen too.
I also should be finishing a fic but, I’ll just let that cursor keep taunting me as my ideas stay locked away in my head.
Also, do you have any tips of transferring a story from your mind to a doc/paper, because I’ll be damned, I can never get the right words. Like, it’s completely different when I write/type it versus when I’m thinking of it, you know?
Hopefully you have a good evening!
-HB anon 😏 (p.s: what’s your favorite emoji?)
hey <3
okay so first off, the lyrics:
Love is an angel disguised as lust
Here in our bed 'til the morning comes
because the night - 10,000 maniacs (live) (im a covers girlie what can i say)
Now. The cursor taunting us is very real. When it’s like that I always just close the doc and try another time because it gets frustrating real fast and makes me feel bad.
As for tips for transferring a story to paper/doc, I think the best thing to do is to outline. Whichever way you’re more comfortable with, your notes app, a doc, a notebook, just starting writing down everything you have in mind for the fic. I write down ideas and plots and lines and scenes, I put it all down where I can see it and make sense of it.
Once it’s all laid out like that, it easier to get a better idea of what you wanna do with the fic. So after writing down every little thought, I start the actual outline. How detailed it is depends on the fic itself. With something long and complex as Rough Surfaces, the outline is incredibly detailed, so I can keep track of all my plot lines and past and present scenes. But with my one shots, just a vague outline to guild me through is more often than not enough.
Another thing I find to be helpful is to associate at least one song with the idea I have, so every time I listen to that song, I think of the fic. This always helps me work out the plot.
I hope this was helpful and if you need anything else, I’m always more than happy to help. Hope your day/evening is wonderful dear <3
(i think my fav emoji has to be the pink heart 🩷 look at it!! is pretty!!)
Send me a 🎧 and I will put my music on shuffle and give you a song and my favourite lyric from it

what do you do when inspiration suddenly hits you? like do you just memorize it in ur head or note it somewhere or do u work on that idea immediately?? im very very curious about ur creative process PLEASE OVERSHARE because i believe there are things that are new to me. like you write and draw and it's amazing how tou do both! i'm more curious about ur writing process because i don't write much (nowadays i only journal or write diary entries, in the past i did write fanfictions but they're almost all oneshots or unplanned dropped after 2 or 3 chapters). (how) do you plan your storyline? do you consider yourself flexible (like are u comfortable with changing plans in a big project where one change could lead to other changes?). Do you beta read by yourself or is there anyone who does it? if you do it by yourself, what do you feel when re-reading your writings? i literally have sm questions but i don't wanna overwhelm you 😭😭😭 you don't need to answer if you don't want to, that's alright!!!
when u said i could overshare
Tumblr media Tumblr media
for whenever the inspiration hits, i tend to start on it immediately. writing is such a mood booster for me and i'm in a low mood most of the time so i seize the moment whenever motivation comes :'D sometimes when i'm busy (let's say school/work) and a great idea pops in (usually in quote format), i just lay it down in my gdocs. for oneshots, 1 doc would suffice. for longfics, the docs per chapter are contained in a folder.
i don't think i'm great in fan arts (i just get the boost from those who draw well—like u!) so i'm glad you appreciate it as well <3
regarding my writing process, someone actually asked me about it before! but to generalize my answer there, i ponder on 3 things (plot, characterization, & chapter study). my first fic (and my first series in general) was dusk in the brightest. i worked on chapter study first: detailed sequence of events from C1-10, vague concept in 11-15, then the rest is just 2-3 sentences of how i want the story to end. the 2nd one, character study, was smth i learned from a professor in one of my subjects when i submitted a one-act play script to her and she heavily criticized my characterization (like so badly i still get jitters remembering it) 😭 since then, i've been very wary with getting things accurate and consistent with my characters. for my plot-heavy fics, that's what i'm most serious for.
i think my flexibility (i dont even think i got that) was v challenged during the last arc of DIB because i suddenly had a complete change of mind with the ending (exactly what u had mentioned: changes that would lead one thing to the other). it was def not comfortable but a great tip (i think) to work around it is that: go back to your earlier chapters, pick up the most random scenarios you had made, then come up with a reason why that random thing ensued. an example of executing it is how isayama worked around aot's first scene (child!eren crying & mikasa being the first one he sees) by connecting it to his last scene in the manga (ofc i wouldn't assume isayama just thought abt it midway. it's just with how he executed it).
i don't have lots of friends in this app so i usually do the revisions all by myself. i'm a type of author that releases chapters impulsively—i'd publish smth that i hadn't proofread yet, read it in the app, then just do all the editing there. i'll repeat the process until i finally get satisfied. i think it's easier for me to point out mistakes when i feel the urgency to do so (like omg i have to hurry in polishing this bc readers might click anytime soon 😭) though someone helped me change POVs (from 1st to 2nd) in DIB C1-13 and let me tell u that i never thought having someone help me beta read my work could bring me so much delight.
and pls don't worry about overwhelming me! using this app and dumping all my work here are literally what keeps me sane from the overwhelming things in my life atm. to have u appreciate it gives me joy & comfort. thats why i'd be honored to answer all of ur questions :'D

something tragic about only being able to write when inspiration strikes is that you have to write on the moment, or else you might forget the sudden thought you've had.
and writing on the moments means that sometimes you don't have the time to put down the details. and it also means that those few minutes you've spent writing can easily be forgotten amidst the happenings of your busy day, which can lead to you forgetting about even writing anything for months, until you don't sit down to go through the various wips that you tend to start and never continue. and then you're like, oh did i really write that?
this happened to me today, as I was sorting through my note taking app after months of neglect (because exams) and found a genshin wip, if you can even call it that, of around 80 words.
typing mistakes asides, it was quite well written for something i probably wrote sleep-deprived and when i should have been focusing on something else, like idk avoiding getting hit by a car while crossing the road or something like that, instead of writing on my phone. which, makes me glad as it means that the muses have smiled upon me and bestowed me with the gift of words that i will never have while talking to another person. so it's all good and well.
however i am faced with a problem, a problem that no one but the me who wrote that wip will be able to solve. and that is the complete. lack. of. contextualization.
i wrote something from the point of view of a character having some sort of vague existential thoughts on about the traveler, but the problem is... I don't know who the fuck the narrating character. and unless some buried remnants of my consciousness don't wake up to tell me, i don't think i will ever find out 😭😭😭
which is tragic and makes me hate the fact that my brain always give me a lot of ideas but they are always so fragmented that they only make sense to me, and only on the moment

13 and 39?
13.  Describe your writing process from idea to polished
idea: probably something i either woke up in the middle of the night to desperately type into my notes app or an epiphany i had while driving at 80 mph on the freeway
tentative outline: probably created mostly while i was driving down the freeway (im serious. my best work occurs while commuting)
actual written outline: me trying to transfer all ideas i came up with in the car before i forget them all. alternatively, i might be staring at a google doc on my screen for like four hours in despair. or i am putting sticky notes on the wall
at this point i might make what is either a mistake or a genius move and start writing from some point in the beginning and decide i'll figure out the rest later. if i do not have an ending decided at this point, the fic will probably be stuck in wip hell forever. if i do have an ending planned, i have a chance.
(firewatch au is an example of a fic i started without having the whole plot worked out, but had a clear vision of where i would eventually end up. it's easier to fill in rising action than it is to fill in the literal climax/resolution of the story....)
i also dont like...write rough drafts. i just basically write fully formed fic and edit as i go. there is rarely many grammar edits or changes i need to make to a scene. i will, however, rewrite and rearrange scenes that aren't working, but this is a more rare part of the process. this is probably why i can never top 3k words in one day even if i write for hours
if i can get a detailed outline, i can create polished work really fast. again, firewatch au (and htbhab!) are both examples of fics where i had a solid plan and was therefore able to EASILY write every day. my unnamed listener!jimmy last life-evo wip was doomed from the start because i had no clue how to resolve the conflict i'd created, and thus it never moved past chapter 2.
39.  Weirdest character concept you’ve ever had
i want to do this question justice but unfortunately it's midnight and my mind is completely blank oh nooooo

I'm here for the ask gamee!! I wanna make sure how alike we are haha sooo 4, 19, 23, 29, and 39...Is that too many? It's way too many lol, feel free to choose between them
Lin!!! Omg you're an angel, thank you for giving me the opportunity to be so self indulgent! And I want to hear all of your responses to these questions in turn 😏
4. What’s a word that makes you go absolutely feral?
Omg wow I found this so hard arrrrgh! I think I find this one hard because there's not a word in particular that I love, but I absolutely WILL go feral over a writer's word choice, especially when it's anything surprising or interesting or creative that just makes me think oh wow, what a great word! I do actually have a list of "good words" on my notes app though lol, so here is a selection of some of those: tranquil, raw, permeate, hollow, scorched, lethargy, deft (there were many others lol what a strange list 😅)
19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?
I only started properly writing at the beginning of 2022, but I really have been writing here and there all my life. I was a total bookworm as a kid, and was always writing stories. The first job I ever wanted was to be an author 😁 I have loads of old notebooks from my teenage years filled with snippets of prose and poems, but I never really finished anything or wrote anything cohesive. I feel like discovering the Internet was a major road block because it ruined my attention span and I barely read a book for years! Honestly, fanfiction was the intense hyperfixation I needed to get myself into gear - I've never had such a strong urge to create before!
23. Describe the physical environment in which you write. Be as detailed as possible. Tell me what’s around you as you work. Paint me a picture.
Ooh I love this - the environment I write in feels super important to me. Okay, so, sometimes, it's at my desk at home during the working day (sssshhhh!), accompanied by the modern day working from home soundtrack: the ping of Teams messages. Other times, it's on the sofa, snuggled under my electric blanket turned up to the max. And when I can make it work, it's in my favourite place of all - my local library. It has a beautiful reading room panelled in old, dark wood, and there's a huge skylight up above. It's a wonderful, peaceful place to work. Maybe not so great for when I'm writing smut 😁
29. Where do you draw your inspiration? What do you do when the inspiration well runs dry?
When I first started writing, I honestly felt like inspiration just threw itself at me from the void, lol. Nowadays, it's harder. Honestly, I think a lot of my inspiration comes via logical thinking, just trying to figure out what a certain character might do or say in a given situation and letting that guide me. Ooh, also, the act of writing in itself is SO important for me inspiration-wise - there is SO much that just comes to me as I'm writing. Like it just seems to appear in my mind. Which is annoying as it means outlining or plotting beforehand doesn't really work for me, I have to have a half idea and then see how it plays out on the page!
39. What keeps you writing when you feel like giving up?
Honestly... Self discipline hahaha. That feels like such a sad thing to admit. But I'm the type of person who likes to see things through to the end. I rarely just WANT to write, but I make the time to and I keep at it. I am actually taking more breaks recently, though, and intend to take a longer break to fully recharge soon :)

writing asks! 1, 12, 16, 23, 27, 28, 35 ~
So many numbers 🥲
1. What font do you write in? Do you actually care or is that just the default setting?
I actually use the 'notes' app on my tablet/phone. It only has one type of font, so I couldn't change it even I wanted to. But I don't care much for the font, so it's all good.
12. If a genie offered you three writing wishes, what would they be? Btw if you wish for more wishes the genie turns all your current WIPs into Lorem Ipsum, I don't make the rules
1. Make my English real good, no grammar mistakes, no German sentence structure. Just on point English.
2. Make my fingers move as fast as the speed of light, so when an idea comes to me, I have it typed out in no time.
3. Fill my brain with endless fun, sweet, and meaningful stories. Let me never run out of ideas.
16. What's the weirdest thing you've ever used as a bookmark?
I am a very sophisticated and only use real bookmarks. Fancy ones to, with a rubber band to keep the pages from wrinkling in my bag.
23. Describe the physical environment in which you write. Be as detailed as possible. Tell me what's around you as you work. Paint me a picture.
I have two major spots at home where I write.
1. My bed. Which is....a bed, so pillow, nightlamp, blanket. Stuffed animal (stingray), fluffy cute pillow that looks like a Husky. And my tablet.
2. Dining room table. Lots of windows, the walls behind me decorated with pictures of our dogs. Beige chair on which I can't sit longer than two hours or my butt will hurt.
27. Who is the most stressful character you've ever written? Why?
My OC/the reader in Meant To Be. I feel like I put her through too much emotional turmoil. But it is what it is. 🫣
28. Who is the most delightful character you've ever written? Why?
Cash. Always Cash. Why? Because he is Cash and makes me smile. Always.
35. What's your favorite writing rule to smash to smithereens?
(Insert confused shrug) I don't know. What are writing rules? Like coherence and cohesion? I try to be very...obedient to standard writing rules, I guess.

for the writing asks: 15, 17, 22!
15. Do you write in the margins of your books? Dog-ear your pages? Read in the bath? Why or why not? Do you judge people who do these things? Can we still be friends?
I've been recently reading a lot from the library and you can't do that lol. I'm getting more comfortable with highlighting stuff but never used to do it. Will never dogear a page, I like to keep things neat as possible. Don't read in the tub because it's too wet and I don't have the arm strength to hold a book up that long lol. I don't judge people that do those things tho
17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.
This is very broad so I'll narrow it down a little. With my current longfic, it started as all great ideas do, in the DMs with ur friend who likes the same tropes as you. In this case, it was a bunch of conversations in the discord with Prophet. It actually took me a long time to publish the first chapter, I started it in summer of 22 and posted it in January 23. I needed to grow as a writer and get some mental eelnesses in check to finish it and get it out there
Something that won't make it in the final draft: there was another concept for a finale that involved an extended scene in Parabola. I'm shortening and combining it with other things for better pacing.
22. How organized are you with your writing? Describe to me your organization method, if it exists. What tools do you use? Notebooks? Binders? Apps? The Cloud?
I have an excel sheet for my thesis. I wrote an outline for my longfic. Things go in folders on the desktop. Otherwise it's just me, my main document, and the 999 other documents and notes tabs that contain cut ideas and late night ideas, all of which are poorly labeled and can pose a challenge to navigate when I need to find something
I type everything. My disability impacts my ability to hold a pen/pencil
