A really sweet moment of this filler arc (ep 141), with Usopp making food and going: "There's nothing I can't do" & "I lived alone for a long time and all." (which is so bittersweet, but partly I love thinking he's still has interest in cooking and from time to time he helps to cook alongside Sanji, who's happy to have someone competent beside him in the kitchen)

Zoro x male reader headcanons
Tumblr media
from my list on my profile :)
btw keep in mind there will be no ‘dom’ in this relationship for these headcanons. i have nothing against it as long as it’s still sfw so don’t be afraid to request that :).
zoro wouldn’t stand for a weak s/o
he doesn’t wanna have to worry for you
so if your weak he’ll make you train with him
and if your not ‘great! let’s spar!’
it doesn’t matter if you use swords or a weapons at all
yall gon spar.
y’all prob fight even more than him and sanji at this point
but not actually angry fight—spar fight
he’ll even teach you his no swords style if he has to 😭
also he’s not a huge cuddle bug or anything but he’s always warm
he’ll grunt if you snuggle up to him for warmth but won’t move you or anything
another thing—he always has your back
especially in fights
not really in petty arguments with other people tho
he might join in on it but not on your side
just to tease you
but you know he means no harm
except for with ero cook
then he’ll team up with you
😭
zoros love languages are quality time and acts of service for sure
zoros quality time looks like working out together,
trying to understand whatever hobbies you like
drinking contests
sitting in solidarity silence
and his acts of service is
saving your butt in battle
going shopping together
any little favor you need really
if your carrying something heavy and almost drop it he’s got you
he shows he cares in little ways like that
zoro is the one to tell it like it is in the straw hats
like he did when usopp left
and he won’t be afraid to call you out on your crap if your wrong
hes not trying to alienate your or something
he just wants you to realize what your doing and change to be a better person
youll have to stop him from getting into trouble btw
like the time he almost shanked charlos
and you always makes sure he doesn’t get lost :)
may or may not come of with nick names for you depending on what you look like/do a lot
like with sanji and ero cook
but they’re less insulting
if your a more excitable person he won’t mind same with being a chill person
hes indifferent about a lot of things
hes chill with 90% personalities and 100% of looks
the 10% of personality he doesn’t like is sanji’s
apologies to sanji kinnies :)
you and zoro kinda always end up going wherever the other goes
like y’all are always together but like not on purpose
it’s cute to robin and nami
zoro would open up to you about his past a good amount of months into the relationship
but it won’t be at random
itll probably happen after you open up to him about yours
then he starts thinkin
’should i tell him?’
he decides he’ll take the opportunity when it comes to him
it was a much needed conversation that let him get a lot off his chest
especially about kuina
he never directly told anyone about who she was
he always just says i promised someone
or his childhood friend
but he never went into depth
which is just even more confirmation that he really loves and trusts you
communication with him is actually pretty good
some topics might get skimped though
if he does something you don’t like subconsciously
dont hesitate to come to him about it
it won’t offend him
he’s a tough cookie anyways he’ll be alright
plus he’s all about betterment
so he’s open to criticism as longs as your being genuine and not sarcastic
he’s also most likely to take it if it’s from you
yall trust each other with y’all lives 100% on another note
if you wanna go on dates?
ya mean drinking contests?
nahh jk
but it won’t be anything sappy because he refuses to take any advice from love cook
just chillin somewhere peaceful on an island
hopefully you have navigation skills or at least not his sense of direction so y’all don’t get lost 😭
don’t let him lead btw
he’ll try to and insist he knows where he’s going
no he dont
stop him
you have to be stern or he’s going his way
hes kinda stubborn
you love that part of him too tho
💖
i’m proud with the way these came out!
i hope any guy that reads this enjoys because there is 100% a lack of male content- so here you are! :)

(op:la fic) sow the seed
Summary:
From the other side of the ship, they could hear Luffy shouting about... something... in a very excited, Luffy-esque way. Could be about something Sanji prepared, or an antic Usopp is up to - who knows. Nami and Zoro certainly don't. But she finds herself glancing at Zoro all the same, and her smile widens at seeing him looking so highly amused himself. "Y'know, I've been thinking," she says, casually turning and plucking an orange from her tree, "us being officially part of the same crew can probably teach us a thing or two." "Yeah?" he replies, one eyebrow raised as he looks at her over his shoulder. "Like what?"   or   OP:LA Zoro & Nami piece because I needed closure
Notes: binge-watched this show yesterday and UGH ZORO IS SO HOT AHHHH so I'm like... no way I'm gonna get over the show without writing something so. tadaaaa

Star in the Sand Ch.22
Tumblr media
Waking up you groaned and moved your hand to rub your throbbing head. Pushing yourself to sit up on the cold floor you cracked your eyes open and looked around the room to see metal walls, metal floors and a heavy duty metal door. Trying to recall what you had been doing earlier you blinked. You remembered training with Zoro, it hadn't been easy to convince the swordsman to teach you some spearman ship but after explaining that you were determined to be able to protect your child he had agreed to help you.
It had been about a week since the ship had left Fishman Island and while you were excited to see Crocodile again you decided to take this opportunity to better get to know the crew. Teaching Sanji recipes from your world which Luffy enjoyed taste testing. You told Chopper stories you knew as well as exchanging jokes with Brook. Drawing sketches of different machines and explaining them to Franky while Usopp took a chance to help show you different plants he had learned about. At night Nami would explain the different weather patterns and how to better understand the signs of a oncoming storm. Before bed you talked with Robin about your world.
During that time your belly had slowly started getting a bit larger as well, your bones no longer protruding to the point that you could rival Brook. Nami and Robin had even had some lotions and oils to help with your dry skin and hair. You still looked different than you had before going into Impale down but hopefully now you might not scare Crocodile away. Sleeping in an actual bed had also helped with the deep shadows around your eyes even if you were constantly plagued with nightmares. Now that you thought about it that was the last thing you remembered doing. After sparing with Zoro a bit you had drank the vitamin infused smoothie Sanji had made you and then followed Bon's advice to go lay down and rest.
This however was not Nami and Robin's room. You weren't chained or tied so that was a good thing. However you were only dressed in a pair of jeans and a black tank top. You didn't even have any shoes on, the sandals that Nami had gotten from Pappag. Now that you were coming to some more you realized it was actually cold, not as cold as level five but still chilly. Then it hit you. Punk Hazzard. "Oh Fuck." How the hell had you slept through the arrival, you must have really been out of it. If you were in here then that meant that Luffy, Zoro, Robin and Usopp were already on the hot side and you and the others were here. Only thing was though that you looked to be locked away in a separate room. Why was that? No matter the reason you had to find a way out of here. Standing up  you looked around the room and saw it completely bare. Trying the door just for the hell of it you weren't surprised to find it locked up tightly. Go figure. There had to be a way out, think! The walls were metal as well as the floor, looking up you saw the ceiling made of the same metal but... there was also a vent. You could work with that.
.............................
Looking around the frozen wasteland, his hair blowing in the harsh wind. They had been walking around for a while now, bypassing the group of marines. Splitting his crew in thirds to go search in a different locations while Daz, Hex and himself went towards the mountains he stopped when he heard explosions. Narrowing his eyes he sensed the presents of others and started that way. When they got close enough that they could see smoke he heard yelling and turned his head to someone he wasn't expecting.
"GATOR! Hey Crocodile!"
"Straw-hat." he spoke around his cigar. Of course, that's how she got here.
"Over here!"
Sighing he wasted no time in turning to sand and quickly flying towards the yelling idiot.
"You're here, that means you got Y/n's letter, she's going to be so happy!" Luff spoke with a smile as Crocodile reformed.
"AHHH NOW CROCODIE IS HERE TOO?!" Both Usopp and Chopper yelled.
"She's with you then? She's safe?" he asked, not being able to keep the emotion out of his voice. Quickly looking around the place that seemed to be in ruins he noted a few of the Straw-hat crew, Nico Robin included along with another face, Law. However he didn't see Y/n anywhere.
"Well no not exactly..." tilting his head and rubbing the back of his head.
Seeing Crocodile's brow twitch Robin stepped forward some. "What he means is that she is not with us right now."
"Then where is she?"
"I duno?" Luffy shrugged.
Gritting his teeth down on his cigar he heard as Robin offered to explain their current situation. Sighing he moved over to speak with her, hearing the Straw-hat crew go back to they previous conversations. For the next few minutes Robin explained to him how Y/n had temporarily joined them along with Bon Clay. "Bentham?"
"Yes he apparently helped her escape Impale Down. I am guessing that since she knew about us from her world, she knew where to find us in Sabaody, knew that Luffy would have no problem helping her."
Humming he puffed on his cigar as Robin told him about everything that had happened since they had gotten here. They had apparently separated but even once they were all reunited Y/n was not with them. "How is she? How has she been?"
Taking a deep breath Robin blinked and looked to her old boss. It was strange seeing him care about someone's wellbeing but she wouldn't comment on it. "Well I did not know her before hand but as for her health... it has improved slightly since she first arrived. I am sure our Doctor, Chopper, can tell you more at a better time."
"Hey how about changing us back now, I can't do anything in this body." Franky yelled.
Turning his attention back to the rest of the group he watched as Trafalger Law used his Devil fruit powers to change some of the Straw-hat members back to their original bodies. After that he stood back with his arms crossed over his chest as Law explained how this Caesar Clown who used to work with Vegapunk had taken over the island and how he was experimenting on children. His main goal to change them into giants so the military could use them in war.
"...this woman you are looking for, the one known as Firelocks Y/n, she's in the main Lab. Caesar is keeping her locked up in a separate location from where the rest of you were taken." Law explained.
"But why? What would he want with her?" Nami asked.
"Think about it. Caesar has been experimenting on kids for a while now and while he has had some results he hasn't gotten the ones he wants. Vegapunk himself determined the sooner a specimen started getting the drug the better the results."
"But that would mean?! NO! No he can't!" Chopper yelled.
"What I'm not getting it." Luffy said in confusion.
"Caesar is keeping y/n because he wants to experiment on her... because she is pregnant!"
His breath caught in his throat. Pregnant, she was still carrying their child? This whole time? Through Impale Down? Blinking and then gritting his teeth when he registered what he had just heard the cigar soon broke in half between his teeth. This Caesar was threatening his soulmate, his child.
"This guy is a sick son of a bitch ain't e'?" Hex spoke in a growl.
"Yes. I'm not leaving this island until Y/n and the children are all safe." Nami spoke.
"If I leave here with Luffy are you going to stay here alone?" Law asked.
"Wait I'm not going anywhere. If this is important to Nami and Chopper than I'll stay too. Plus Y/n is my friend and that Caesar guy has her, I'm not just going to leave her there. I mean I told her I'd help her get back with Gator. Then Sanji wants to put that Samurai back together. Look if you are going to work with us then get used to helping people." Luffy told Law as he turned towards him some.
Seeing Law's look Usopp sighed. "Here's the thing. See most of the time when you're forming an alliance you get a couple of groups with a common goal and you negotiate the best way to get it done, does that sound right?"
"Obviously."
"So you'd think but in Luffy's world that logic get's thrown out the window completely."
"Just means I'm friends with you." Luffy butted in with a smile. "Like me and Crocodile, we're friends, right Gator?"
Blinking slowly he stayed silent, his arms crossed over his chest.
"That's a yes." Luffy grinned.
"You can forget about having any say in what we do. It's all up to him."
"All up to me." Luffy beamed.
"As soon as this guy makes up his mind about something that's it. You're along for the ride wither you like it or not. If selfness was a power he'd take out that emperor on the spot."
"What Emperor?" Daz asked.
"After this we're gonna go take down Kaido." Luffy grinned.
"Fine but we have to hurry up, there's no time. Putting the Samurai back together can be your groups problem. I guess I can go investigate the drug that was given to the children. If they have already started giving it to the woman then maybe I can come up with an antidote. Now who's the ship's doctor again? You come with me, we'll do research behind Caesar's back. Crocodile, one of your men can come as well, maybe he can search around the lab for Firelocks but if they get caught it's on them."
Looking to Hex he tilted his head and saw him nod and start walking away with Law and the furball.
"Daz perhaps you can stay here and help Nami and Usopp protect the children. Their withdrawals have been making them lash out and they coudl use the help." Robin suggested.
Nodding once Daz looked to him he heard Straw-hat say that he was with them.
"Now I'm gonna go kick this Caesar's ass." Luffy smiled.
......................................
Crawling through the vent for sometime you grumbled to yourself as your knees started to ache. So far you hadn't been able to find a suitable room to drop down into and you were starting to wonder if you ever would. Continuing to crawl you stopped when you heard voices. Quietly moving over to look down into the vent you saw none other than Law and Monet. They seemed to be walking down what looked to be a hallway of sorts. You couldn't make out much but when you heard Law say something about leaving you knew what events were about to unfold. Shit. As they passed out of your view you heard another voice, a deep voice. As the three talk about 'Joker' you heard a pained gasp and wince, this had to be the part where Vergo shows up. That was one guy you really didn't want to be found by.
Staying as still and as quiet as a statue you watched as not too long later Monet and Vergo walked by, Vergo dragging a now unconscious Law behind him. With the poisonous gas soon to be flooding the place you didn't want to keep trying your luck with the vents. Glancing down to the floor you saw it not too terribly far down and sighed. Slowly opening the vent you peeked out to make sure the coast was clear. Easing out you hung from the vent as you tried to lower yourself down as best as you could. Taking a deep breath you let go and managed to land on your feet before falling back on your ass. Better than you stomach. Placing a hand over your baby bump you took a moment to get your barring's. Now you just had to make it to the center part of the lab so the gas wouldn't turn you to stone. Wrapping your arms around yourself you grit your teeth, cold why did it always have to be the cold? Hearing your stomach let out a growl you sighed. "I know." patting your belly gently you walked down another hall but stopped dead in your tracks when you saw two of Caeser's men standing there.
"Hey! What are you doing out of your room?"
"Get her!"
Throwing your fist through the air and kicking at the other you grabbed his gun when he dropped it. Slamming the but of it into the man's gut you heard him groan. Swinging it around into the other's face you knocked him to the ground and didn't see him get up. As the other went to get up you quickly went around him, putting the barrel of the gun against his throat and pulling back. Whimpering out as he elbowed your ribs hard enough to make the breath leave you, pulling it as hard as you could you were thrashed around until he finally fell unconscious. Pulling the gun out you swung the strap over your arm and hurried on before more showed up. Passing by a door you saw words written on it out of the corner of your eye you glanced up and rose a brow.
....................................
"It brings back memories to see you two in the same cell." Robin spoke.
"Oh yea Smoky and I got caught by you and Gator in Alabasta. Kinda funny now that you both are in here with us isn't it?" Luffy laughed.
"Forgive me if I fail to see the humor." He said with a slight roll of his eyes.
"Shut up you damn fools!" Smoker growled.
It shouldn't have surprised him that that feathered idiot was behind this whole operation. He wasn't even surprised to see he had managed to work a spy into the navy itself. When Caesar came into the room he grit his teeth. To think someone like him was able to defeat all of them, even when it seemed like Straw-hat had him. Hearing him tell the 'Vergo' man to start the video he saw him turn to them again and begin taunting Law. Seeing them have not only Law's heart but Smoker's as well made him raise his brow. Watching the screen he knit his brows at the giant piece of candy being laid out. Listening to Caesar go about explaining this 'smiley' creature he watched the screen as it showed the purple gas start infecting the island. When the footage showed others out on the snow running away from it he blinked when he realized it was some of his own crew along with the straw-hats and Bentham.
"Hey that's Zoro, they're all running from the smoke."
"Would you look at those fools, what are they doing out there and what the hell kind of run is that?"
"Oh look the Samurai got his body back." Robin grinned.
"Yeah you're right, guess that means he isn't going to give me his legs." Luffy grumbled. "Hey wait that's not important right now Robin." Leaning up some he looked to the video "Run faster guys, that smoke will freeze ya dead! You gotta ru..ahn..ahh." Falling to the ground on his face he groaned. "Aw man I don't have the strength to yell. Damnit, dumb sea prism stone."
"I take it those are your friends Straw-hat Luffy?" Caesar asked before laughing.
"Yea they are my friends and they are going to be make it just like Y/n once I find out where you're keeping her. You better not have given her any of those drugged candies." Luffy growled.
Hearing his soulmate's name get brought up he snapped his eyes over to the man, his body tensing slightly.
"Who?"
"I believe he is talking about the woman Joker wants." Vergo spoke in his calm voice.
"Oh her?! I wouldn't dream of drugging her, well not if I want to keep my life. Don't get me wrong I would have loved to test the effects of my drug on her and the unborn child but Joker made it perfectly clear she was not to be touched."
"Why what the hell would he want with her?" Law asked.
"He doesn't want anything with her, he's simply the delivery man."
"For who? Who want's y/n?"
"Big Mom maybe, Y/n told me, Robin and Nami that she wanted to kill her." Franky added.
"Try the other side of her family line."
"Yes one wouldn't be able to tell she comes from such a strong bloodline just by looking at her." Caesar grinned with a small chuckle.
"Kaido. She is Kaido and Big Mom's granddaughter." Law spoke once it clicked in his head.
"So Two of the emperors had a baby?!"
"What can I say, they're must have been some lonely nights on Rock's ship." Vergo huffed.
Shocked by the news he felt his heart hammer in his chest. She was in even more danger than he first thought. If that were true then that would mean...
"So what the hell does Kaido want with her?!" Luffy yelled.
"Kaido wants a strong army, she's his blood..." Law told him.
It wasn't difficult to put together what Law was saying and once he did he felt the vein in his forehead and neck stick out, his fist clenching at his side and his teeth gritting together. Over his dead fucking body.
"I can see this troubles you Crocodile." Vergo spoke, addressing the ex-warlord for the first time. "Knowing that the two of you were affiliated before her time in Impale Down I am going to go out on a limb and say the child growing in her womb is possibly yours. If it's any consolation Kaido may allow her to keep the child once it is born... if she behaves. If not then it will join you in the afterlife."
"Bastard." he growled so deep it almost sounded inhuman.
Laughing at the whole situation Caesar gave a smile. "I'll give you this one last chance to see her." Waving his hand towards the workers he saw them pull up the footage of her room, "Now say goodbye to your ahhhh where did she go?!"
Seeing the room empty he felt hope fill him. She had made her way out.
"Shishishi, Y/n escaped Impale Down, did you really think you would be able to hold her in there?" Luffy giggled.
"I wouldn't underestimate her if I were you." Robin chuckled
"Grahh. No matter, she will be found soon enough but I'm sorry to say that by then you all will be dead." Nodding his head he watched as the crane picked up the cage and started moving it. "Time for me to show the world that my weapon is tougher than any high bounty pirate, Marine vice admiral or Warlord of the Sea." Caesar laughed.
Getting freed by Law he stood straight and brushed off his clothes. Getting into the lab he watched as the rest of the Straw-hats, marines and his own crew hurry into the lab.
"Alright looks like everyone's here." Luffy smiles.
As soon as he heard Law tell them they needed to get to the door with R building 66 on it he looked down to his men. "Go help the Straw-hats with the kids then get to that door."
"Oh Mr. Zero there you are. Wait where is Y/n?" Bon asked, quickly looking around for his friend.
"I'm going to find her." he replied gruffly. Turning around he waited for no reply, refusing to be separated from his soulmate any longer.
...................................
Running through the lab you held on tightly to the sword you had gotten off the most recent group of Caesar's men. After hearing one of them yell 'There she is..." you were fairly certain they knew you were missing now, which meant Caesar did as well. Assholes had made you drop your jar of peanut butter you had swiped from the kitchen as well. You heard an explosion go off earlier so you guessed the others had made it inside by now. Knowing from the manga that the gas would be spreading quickly now you pushed on to make it to building R. Wincing when your leg ached you moved your hand down to hold it over the bleeding gunshot wound there. As another round of gunfire rang out around you, you heard one yell that you were not to be seriously injured. Running behind the corner and onto the stairway you tried to outrun them but were forced to stop when more yellow dressed men showed up in front of you.
"Now come on lady, just come with us and we won't be forced to hurt you anymore."
Gritting your teeth you looked back and forth, you were surrounded and while you may have been able to take on five or six of them there looked to be at least a dozen. Backing into the railing you snapped your eyes behind you to see the floor far below. There was no way you would survive the fall... but there was another option. Looking back to the group you saw them inching there way closer. It was now or never. Turning around quickly you climbed the railing and jumped.
"NO!"
Grabbing hold of the chain you gasped as it started falling, you were not expecting a pully. Seeing the ground coming up fast you grabbed hold of the other one and let out a muffled scream when it tore away the skin on the palm of your hand. Pushing through the pain you slowed yourself down enough to not die when you hit the ground but you didn't stick the landing and were left a little dazed when your head smacked against the hard floor.  Blinking slowly as the world seemed to spin you held your belly with one hand and turned your head to the side to see the yellow suited men running down the stairs. There muffled yelling rung in your ears and you whimpered as you pushed your body to sit up. Seeing the fallen sword on the ground not to far away you crawled over to grab it and pushed yourself to your unsteady feet.
Raising your head as the heavy footsteps grew closer you just did swing your sword in time when one of them took the chance to grab you. The man was quickly replaced with another and all too soon you found yourself in another fight but this time it wasn't looking too good. Crying out when one of them sliced at your shoulder you backed away, the grip on the sword loosening to the point you almost dropped it. Bringing your knee up and then kicking you refused to give up but you were quickly growing exhausted. Tring to swing the now heavy sword again it was blocked and smacked from your hand. Feeling a hand yank on your hair you winced and hit against the man as he stood above you. Seeing him hold out a can of what you guessed was that sleeping gas you held your breath and tried yanking out of his hold.
"This would have been much easier for you if you would have just did as we sa... ah!"
"AHHH!"
Feeling the hand on your locks loosen you went to fall to the floor but something held you up. Seeing nothing but black you let your eyes slip close, a heavenly smell filling your nose. Then there was a voice, a deep voice, one you had only heard in your dreams for what seemed like a lifetime. Pulling back some you looked up and saw him. After so long you weren't sure he was real. "C..croc?"
Taking care of all the filth that dared hurt his darling he looked down when he heard her trembling voice. Seeing those sea blue eyes looking up at him and hearing her say his name he couldn't help but grin. As soon as he did he felt her arms wrap around his waist, her face burring into his abdomen.
Shaking with sobs you held onto him so tightly you only knew his clothes would be wrinkled. It was him, it was really him.
Prying her arms from him only long enough for him to lift her up he felt her arms wrap around his neck. Holding her with his left forearm and hook he wrapped his right arm around her to return her embrace. His eyes closed momentarily, relishing the knowledge that she was in his arms once again after six months apart.
There were so many emotions overtaking your body but none more prominent than happiness. Tears poured from your eyes, soaking into his coat and shirt but he didn't seem to mind. "I'm ssssorrryyy." you sobbed.
Hearing her heart wrenching apology he licked his lips, swallowing the lump growing in his throat. "Why on earth are you apologizing to me? You have no reason to be sorry..." Clenching his teeth he gently rubbed the back of her head and hair. "I on the other hand don't deserve your forgiveness, everything that happened to you, all of this, it's my fault."
Shaking your head you nuzzled your nose into his neck. "No it's no..."
"It is." he said through gritted teeth. "I failed you again... I didn't..."
Leaning up you pushed your lips to his. Holding his face in your hands you refused to let him break away. After a few moments he sighed, his lips softening to kiss you back and you knew you had won. Tears continued dripping from your eyes and no doubt onto his face. Pulling away only to peck his cheeks and lay your forehead on his you closed your eyes. You didn't know wither it was from finally being reunited with your lost love again after so much or all the injuries but you felt very tired.
Feeling her body slacken against his he opened his eyes slightly and looked down to her. Seeing the blood on her forehead he recalled where they were and what was happening. Moving her over to the steps he sat her down and kneeled in front of her while his eyes scanned over her body. He could see blood soaking her pants leg, a gash across her shoulder and blood coming from her head. There was so much more he wanted to observe but now wasn't the time. Removing his belt he put it around her upper thigh and pulled it tight to stop the bleeding until it coudl be treated. There wasn't much he could do about her other injuries unfortunately. As his eyes fell to the small bump under the thin tank top she was wearing he felt his heart beat harder in his chest. Reaching out he ever so gently placed his hand over the majority of her stomach. Blinking he stroked her belly with his thumb, "You truly are an amazing woman."
Grinning bashfully you looked down to his hand and placed yours overtop for a moment. That quiet moment was soon interrupted as a loud explosion shook the lab. "We have to go, now."
Nodding he stood and removed his coat wrapping it around her slightly trembling body he lifted her up into his arms again. He would get them out of this place and then he would never have her out of his sight again.

Fantasy Au
Hey there.
Yet another Au involving the ASL because I love them
The Strawhats, Sabo, Ace and a few others are a bandit group (lives in the forest, has territory that they protect, helps neighboring towns and villages.)
Magic exists and is somewhat common.
There are also shifters, people that can shift into animals.
The most common shifters can shift into common animals seen around
What is uncommon is mythical shifters (dragons, phoenix, naga, etc.)
There are two countries that are at war, Moby, lead by Whitebeard, and Teach/Blackbeard’s land (IDK what the land is called)
Ace and Sabo are fire dragon shifters (they can still control fire)
So they are extremely protective of their horde aka The Strawhats
The D clan was a clan that ruled the lands of Raftel, though they were later wiped out due to people fearing the power they held.
Teach has been trying to get the Strawhats on his side of the war but they don’t want to be involved.
Annoyed Teach kidnaps Luffy and Sabo and blackmails the rest.
Due to Teach’s magic they can’t just get them back (Teach is keeping them in his black hole thing though he does later take them out but keeps them in one of his castles chained up with magic their nullified)
Forced, the Strawhats plus Ace have to fight against Whitebeard.
This continues on, certain Whitebeard's coming across certain Strawhats in small battles (Marco and Ace, Thatch and Sanji, Vista and Zoro, Haruta and Nami, Izou and Usopp, etc.(and they are at the point where they were post timeskip in cannon))
Because they are all hard-headed, none of the Strawhats think to ask for help.
So at the main battle they all confront each other again.
Some of them are like “you see that person, yeah them….. their mine, I’ve fought them before.”
When Ace and Marco fought the first time, Ace kept the fact that he’s a shifter hidden instead just using his fire.
As the main battle is going on, Luffy and Sabo are making a “prison” break.
Teach didn’t know that Sabo was a shifter so… the castle gets turned into rubble with all the other prisoners escaping as well. (Think Luffy breaking out of Impel Down and bring the rest of the ex-prisoners with him, except like some of the prisoners or people forced to work with Teach are like Law, Kidd, a few members from other cannon crews. And Luffy makes friends with all of them, even if they don’t exactly know how.)
Similar to cannon Luffy takes they to the battlefield except instead of via ship it’s via everyone huddling on a piece of the ground being carried by Sabo. (He was tired of hearing them all argue and could feel that his horde was in danger so he transformed in front of everyone, scaring them all, and just ripped a piece of the ground up and started to fly)
At the battle the Whitebeards are struggling fighting against the Strawhats/other crews forced to fight/cannon fodder because Teach had kidnapped their leader/people they care about.
Marco was definitely surprised when he found out he had to fight against a dragon, however he knows that dragons usually stay to themselves and don’t seek war, they only really fight when they are forced or something happened to their horde.
At one point when Ace and Marco are in their human forms fighting on the ground is when everyone else gets there.
No one really sees them because they are busy fighting/concentrated on the war
And this is how Luffy single-handedly stops the fighting.
.
.
.
.
.
He sees Ace
He’s excited to see Ace
He wants Ace to meet his new friends
He wraps his arm around everyone there (his magic grants him the same thing he could do in cannon)
He jumps off the ground piece yelling Ace’s name
As he and everyone he has are falling (everyone is screaming) he shoots his arm out and grabs Ace shoulder
By now everyone has stopped fighting to watch
Luffy and CO are them directed to start flying towards Ace.
They crash into Ace at top speeds (making Ace and anyone behind him skidding back)
Luffy laughs
Sabo, surprised and panicked at what his little brother just did drops the ground piece which goes crashing to the ground
Everyone has to escape the area before they are flattened
Everyone is now too interested and confused on what just happened to continue fighting
And there you have it, Luffy caused chaos that solves the problem.
.
.
.
.
.
After the dust where the group had landed clears they all see a pile of people that are dazed or knocked unconscious, one very angry brother and one brother that finds this whole thing hilarious.
“Luffy you idiot!!!”
Ace brings his fist on top of Luffy’s head, but of course he doesn’t feel it.
Seeing their ex-kidnapped friends several people run over, Sabo lands and shifts into human form
Ace now seems to be trying to strangle Luffy.
He ends up grabbing his arms and legs and tying them all in a large knot so he can’t move
Everyone that Luffy dragged off their ride get as far away as they can
The Strawhats all has their own turn hitting/hugging the tied up Luffy
Both Ace and Sabo start lecturing Luffy how stupid he was jumping from that height with people that get hurt when they fall and checking him over for wounds.
The Whitebeards are just watching this completely confused
Then they all relies that Luffy is here, Luffy is safe, they won’t let anyone near Luffy, Teach is free game, there are two angry dragons that want to tear Teach apart.
.
.
.
.
.
Teach will die.

Ship #2 🌺
This is the second ship/match up! I hope you’re not mad that it took so long, please enjoy it and be happy; you got Snooji! Thank you for playing in the “special special”!! @musicmarble
Your partner is Snooji Sanji!
Tumblr media
When Sanji first announced his love for you, no one was surprised, but when he started to ignore other woman and only cared for you, they knew, he got serious. He falls for your energy and for the love you have for your friends. When he first met you, he wanted nothing more than to be called one of your friends, but after some time, he wanted, no, needed more of you. He is a sucker for your voice and whenever you ask him if  he’s hungy, his heart jumps in excitement. He doesn’t care at all that you might not suit the “girly person” society has build, he is only interested in you and your personality, the rest doesn’t matter. For him, you’re the most beautiful person he has laid his eyes on, even if you say that you’re imperfect and that you have flaws, your him you’re a masterpiece. He makes sure you know your real worth, even if he has to tell you every night. Also, when he found out about your past, he realised that you both have more in common than you think. Without noticing, he found the perfect match for him and he is not ready to let you leave all too fast.
Your best friend is Chopper!
Tumblr media
Sweet, precious and maybe a little dork; here are two perfect best friends. You and Chopper click the first second you meet each other and are not able to be without each other for too long. You both get high on each others’ spirit and never fail to make everyone else feel happy, that’s just how you both work. He is a doctor too, so he will try to help you whenever you feel a bit pain from your injury, he will notice if you’re acting different than unsual and will make sure to make you feel better. Also, if stupid Snooji ever hurts your feelings, this little cutie will beat his ass for you, believe me. Sometimes you both sit around for hours and talk about anything, sometimes you play pranks on the others and snicker behind books.
Your bounty is 80 Thousand Berry!
First, you’re a part of the strawhat crew, so let’s put some berry on your head. Second, you’re the partner of Sanji, so let’s put some more berry on your head. Third, that one time, in middle of a fight, you accidentaly kicked someone so hard, they went unconscious for a few hours, which made everyone wonder… how the hell did you do that? You don’t know, they don’t know… lets put some more berry on your mysterious head.
Your secret admirer is Usopp!
Tumblr media
He hates himself for the way he feels, he feels so so bad! Sanji is one of his family, his brother and yet, he crushes on his partner… It was the way you laughed, the way you adapted to your friends and the way you cared so deeply for them, that he couldn’t stop himself and fell for you. You were something different in his eyes; a treasure that didn’t know it’s worth and he was swept away from it. When you went up to him and asked him if he could teach you to become a sniper, his heart stopped in his chest. You just turned more perfect by the second, but he couldn’t act on his feelings. He decides that his friendship with Sanji was more important than his feelings, so he leaves you alone. After some time, he feels himself losing his interest in you and he’s glad. But deep down, he still has a sweet spot for his brothers partner.
Worst enemy is Enel!
Tumblr media
You both, you barely know each other, but from the short moment you saw each other, a horrible and deep enemyship was born. You hate this guy with everything you can think of and he? He thinks it’s fun, so he hates you back. Sanji and Chopper had to pull you back in skypia, so you wouldn’t run into your death, but you were harder to calm down than expected. It was the way he talked, the way he wanted so much attention and the way he treated others that made you hate him. When Luffy beat his ass, you were glad, bu still to this day; every time you hear his name, you just get grumpy. You both had some other kinds of sparks..
Who comes and saves you if you’re in danger: Jinbei! (Jinbae)
Tumblr media
Look at this Jinbae, he will fight everyone for you! He will get all of his friends/fighters to save you, not only because you’re in the strawhat crew, nah, because you both are good friends as well. He loves the way you talk about the ocean and he will not let someone hurt you, not now and not later.
Who is secretly trying to catch you and get your bounty: Big Mom! (Spoiler)
Tumblr media
SPOILER WARNING! When she found out that you were in a relationship with Sanji, she knew, she had to get you in her hands. There could be only one person who can have Sanji and in her eyes; it couldn’t be you. So, to everyone’s surprise, the yonko wants you. You, the 80 thousand berry person. To say that you’re shocked is not enough to explain what goes through your head.
Kitchen concert - a little drabble
Soft sounds of Sanji cutting vegetables surround your figure leaning against the kitchen counter, making you sigh in content. Today had been a quiet day, dark clouds were shielding the bright sunlight away, making everyone either hide in their rooms or relax in the kitchen. You didn’t mind though, it was nice to relax like this from time to time.
You glance at your boyfriend moving the knife faster than you ever could and lean your head back, sighing another time.
“Are you okay, my love?” The sounds of the knife turn quieter. You look at the blonde haired man and see him staring at you in amusement. “Are you so bored?”
“No…” You mumble and shift from one foot to another. “I’m just a bit tired.”
Sanji nods, turns back to his work and is about to start again, when he stops another time. “Y/N, come here.”
“Hm?” You frown and stay where you are, not knowing what he wants.
“Come here for a second, I promise, I won’t bite.” He says and winks. “Not now.”
You feel yourself blushing and slowly walk up to him, avoiding his eyes. You hear him mumble something about you being cute and then, he stands behind you, arms wrapped around your body. “What-”
“I’m scared you will fall asleep, so I’d rather have you here in my arms.” He whispers into your hair and softly pecks your cheek. You purse your lips, trying to hide the smile that tries to escape.
You stay in his warm arms for a few minutes and stare at him cutting food, still surprised at how good he actually is. Neither of you say something, both enjoying the company, when suddenly, you start to hum quietly, still shy.
Your boyfriend stops his actions- you stop. He turns his head towards you and smiles. “Ah, don’t be shy. You sound so nice, don’t hide it!” But you’re still too embarrassed, which makes Sanji sigh.
“Okay then.” He says and kisses your cheek again, making you turn your head to the side, laughing quietly. You lean back against his body and after a few seconds, Sanji starts to hum himself, quiet at first, but grows louder with every second that passes. You take another glance at him and bite your lip, slowly joining him.
You grow more and more comfortable and after a few more seconds, you start to sing quietly. Sanji makes sure to sing along, even tries to sing the instruments, which makes you laugh.
Suddenly, the door opens and a skeleton comes inside. “Is this a concert? Yohohoho, let me join!”
“I want too!” The sweet voice of your best friend echoes through the kitchen and then he appears in front of your eyes; Chopper.
You smile and turn around, about to walk to your friends, when Sanji steals a kiss from your lips, making Chopper giggle loudly. Your cheeks turn deep red, but Sanji just winks. “I’m sorry, I couldn’t help myself.”

Chapter 2/3 - chapter 1
A/N: You can also find it on AO3 or ff! Thank you @blueflamebird for correcting me :D This chapter is from Zoro’s pov.
“Deal.”
Zoro smirked. That man was going to eat his pride so bad, he had no idea what he just had gotten himself into. At least, someone was having a good time out of it. He wasn't usually interested in  the business of others, especially when it was about love stories, but this time, it was different.
First, he was bored. He hadn't found anyone to fight with in a long time, and his training classes were off for the holidays. Nothing was entertaining. Nothing new, or interesting.
But this phone call- it changed things a bit. Now he could bother someone, and he was already starting to like it way too much to stop.
“You look happy, Zoro,” his roommate said, slightly leaning his head on the side. “What's going on?”
“Nothing,” he replied. “Just got a phone call.”
“A phone call?”
“Yeah. Anyways, what's up with you and these... clothes?”
The young man was indeed wearing some sort of... what, a giant hamburger? Was that really something you would be willing to wear those days?
“Yeah! I'm going to a costume party on Saturday! There'll be meat! Remember I talked about it-”
“For months, yeah.”
“Come oooon... you should really come!”
“Don't wanna,” Zoro sighed.
The other crossed his arms.
“Why not?”
“Not feeling like going, that's all.”
Did he always have to justify why?
“But you're always complaining about being bored!”
“Yeah and so?”
“So do something to kill it!”
“Hrm.”
“So you'll come?”
He stared at his roommate. He was so stubborn.
“No.”
“What? Why!”
“Because.”
He just did not feel like it?
“That is not an answer!”
“Huh, that is.”
“You're not funny, Zoro.”
The swordsman shrugged. They stared at each other for twenty-five seconds before a new argument came:
“I'll do the chores for three days.”
… Oh. This was becoming interesting.
“One week.”
“One week!”
Zoro smiled. That was worth it.
“Okay.”
Luffy let out a scream of victory.
There were times when nothing was happening in your life. Like, literally, nothing. Zoro felt like he was at one of those moments. And he was dying for something exciting to happen.
A new fight, new trainings, a new opponent. Or even an old one. Not obviously something new. Just- something. To kill his boredom.
“God”, he whispered under his breath. “Holidays are so boring.”
He could understand how Luffy felt, all those times when he kept bothering him, whining about how boring he was, and how much he needed entertainment. How did he manage to kill it? How did he succeed in making it go away?
Everything was boring. And Zoro was tired of that feeling.
That's why, when his roommate came back with a penguin – don’t ask why – he didn't mind. After all, why not? Penguins could be good company, and no one ever said it was strictly forbidden to have a penguin as a pet at home. Unless... said penguin was from a Zoo – Zoo which was supposed to not let go of the animals it was keeping and taking care of.
Maybe, the idea wasn't that good. Maybe, yeah, maybe, they should put it back where it belonged before anyone noticed it had disappeared – and before they get into trouble. Besides, it had been a while since they got trouble. Who complained? Not him. Though being bored didn't mean he was okay with having problems to be kept busy...
But instead, he said:
“What's its name?”
“Bird!”
Zoro frowned and turned to the young man.
“Bird?”
“Yeah! Bird!”
“Bird like... flying bird?”
Luffy made a face, looking at him as if he was staring at an idiot. He wasn't the idiot!
“Dude that's a penguin.”
“I know very well the fact he's a penguin! But he told me he decided to fly like birds. So he wants to be called Bird.”
That's insane.
“Why’d you take him here?”
That's what he should have asked first.
“Bird wants to learn how to fly.”
He laughed. Yeah, he got that part.
“And so you're gonna teach him?”
“Well yeah! Why not?”
Zoro sighed. He knew, he knew he shouldn't have made a joke on this. He knew how serious Luffy could be – and stubborn – about stuff like these. Especially if it included “someone's” dream.
“Just bring him back.”
“No,” he said in a very serious tone. “Unless he tells me to.”
The swordsman took a look at the penguin. It looked dumb, and like it had no idea where it was. It also looked like it wanted to swim in the living room. Which he was not approving at all.
“You wouldn't want me to cut it in half by misfortune while I train, would you?”
“Are you threatening Mr. Bird?”
So it was Mr. Bird now??
He quickly thought how to handle this without pissing Luffy off. Just because his roommate had the mind and the imagination of a child, didn't mean he was completely a child.
“I think it wants to get back to its family. I believe it thought you were taking it on a walk but look how confused it is now.”
“I'm pretty sure-”
“Luffy, what about you bring it back and if it does go back to its place, you'll leave it there?”
He shrugged. That was surely supposed to mean “yes”, then.
“How is it going on with your girlfriend, ero-cook?”
Zoro stared at his screen. His thumb pressed “send”.
It's been three days now, and no news from the shitty cook. He wondered if the man would keep his promises – one being his new decisions concerning that 'Conis-chan' girl, and the other their bet. Was he the kind of person too proud to face complications? Was he going to pretend the phone call never happened?
He didn't care, but  he would be a bit disappointed – though he would never admit it. Zoro didn't get any answer until late in the evening, which was only composed of two words:
“Good, obviously.”
“Really?”
No need to meet the guy to be 99% sure he was lying.
“Yeah.”
He smirked. That was all?
“That's it?”
“What do you want, to laugh once again at me?”
“Maybe.”
“Shut up.”
“So I'll just believe you and admit I lost.”
“Really?”
“No. Of course not. What do you think I am?”
“A bored asshole fucking around, arrogant and so very full of himself.”
Now this was fun.
“And yet you're still talking to that asshole.”
“I'm not enjoying this.”
“Oh yeah? How come are you still talking to me?”
“I made a bet. I don't break promises. Why are you talking to me? Nothing better to do?”
“I made a bet, too.”
“That's an answer way too easy.”
“You replied that too.”
“No, I replied that first!”
“Oh that's alright then.”
“Oh my god, just stop talking.”
“We're texting.”
“Right. See ya.”
Zoro paused, looking at the last message, and scrolled through the conversation. The guy was clearly not willing to talk about it, confirming his thoughts. Though at first that bet seemed to be a nice entertainment, now he felt bothered by it. There was a real relationship at stake, and he didn't like to be included in relationship issues or people's problems. Especially if  it was a perfectly random guy's. That’s so not like him.
He lied down and closed his eyes.
Who cared? He wasn't doing anything, no one owed anything to anyone. They were both free men.
“We talked.”
It's been two days since their last conversation, and Zoro replied two hours later, busytrying to free Luffy from the Zoo in which he'd stolen the penguin. The Zoo's security was for sure to be changed, but they eventually got to Luffy. That had been a long, long day.
“That's a big first step in a relationship. Did she reply to your 'hello'?”
“Ahah. Very funny.”
“You almost begged for it.”
“I didn't.”
“You did.”
“No I didn't.”
“You sure did.”
“I. Didn't.”
This man was such a kid.
“Okay shut up and tell me what happened now.”
“So you wanna know?”
Oh, come on man.
“So you wanna tell me?”
“This conversation is nonsense.”
'You are the nonsense', he thought. But instead, he texted:
“Agreed.”
“We discussed, like you said when we talked on the phone.”
“Oh so you admit being a superficial guy?”
“Don't push it.”
“Alright, ero-cook, what happened”
“We had a “cigarette” debate.”
What now?
“She smokes?”
“No. I do.”
“Oh. Aren't you supposed to be a cook?”
“Those are two very different things.”
“Are they?”
“Yes.”
“If you say so.”
“Anyway, we talked about ourselves. I opened up. Somehow we ended up on the smoking question.”
“Oh so you did listen to me...”
“Shut up.”
“You know that answer has a limited amount of use.”
“Shut up.”
“Apparently you don't.”
“She asked me why  I was smoking, I replied, like a lot of people, that it was helping me handle the tension and stress. But she said it wasn't the solution, and I should quit. I know she's right, but I can't promise that.”
“Why not?”
“Did you ever try smoking?”
“Nope.”
“Anything else?”
“I enjoy good drinks.”
“Great, an alcoholic.”
“Hey what?!”
“Imagine being forced to stop drinking.”
“Yeah, nah.”
“I know she's right. I hate to go against her.”
“What happened?”
“She said she didn't dare say it before, but she couldn't handle the smell.”
“That's basically a “me or the cigarette” situation.”
“Yeah.”
“You chose the cigarette?”
“I didn't choose anything yet.”
“No, you already did.”
“What?”
“You chose you.”
“Me?”
“Smoking sucks, I'm not saying I approve, but you obviously can't stop right now.”
“... I chose something else over a woman?”
“That's progress.”
“Not really??”
“Well, your sentence clearly says “over a woman” dude. She's Conis. Not “a woman”. Objectifying her again?”
“Stop doing that.”
“You stop doing that.”
“Shut up.”
“Here it is again.”
“I will kick you!”
“Try me.”
Oh why, he was enjoying teasing him so much right now.
“You have a weird face.”
Zoro looked up.
“Come again?”
Luffy slightly tilted his head on his left.
“You have a weird face.”
The swordsman frowned.
“That's my normal face.”
His roommate frowned back, staring at him for some ten seconds, before he shrugged:
“I guess it is!”
His phone vibrated in the middle of the night, and Zoro groaned in his pillow as his hand looked for said phone. Who was the dumbass texting him while he was sleeping? (Something that was actually often happening).
“I don't know a thing about you.”
Damn ero-cook.
He didn't need to know anything about him, because there was nothing to know. It was not like they were friends or anything, now... Was it? He put down his phone, thinking that maybe, just maybe he'll consider replying this text positively or not on the next day.
...
Five minutes later, he texted back.
“You look awful,” Luffy said when he saw Zoro leaving his room, half awaken, dragging himself to the kitchen with half of his bed with him. He'd rarely seen his roommate in such a state, he'd usually stay in bed all day, or leave it completely, but never in-between.
“Is there someone out there paying you to compliment me every day?” Zoro mumbled.
“What?”
“Yesterday, weird face, today, awful,” he yawned.
“Shishishi, no, but I wish! I'd buy tons of meats with it.”
“Of course you would.”
He sat in front of him, and looked around before asking:
“What's for breakfast?”
Luffy's eyes widely opened.
“You think I'm making breakfast?”
No one was making breakfast here. They've been roommates for years, and not even once did they prepare breakfast. They'd just take anything around, and eat it.
“Right.”
“What's wrong with you?” Luffy curiously asked.
“Texted all night, I guess.”
“Texted?”
The older man took a look at his friend. He could understand the questions behind his eyes. That was unlike him to miss a good night of sleep, if there wasn't alcohol or a fight included.
“With that ero-cook.”
“Oh,” Luffy grinned. “So you like him, huh?”
“N-no, I don't,” he frowned, “it has nothing to do with it.”
“Then why do you keep talking?”
“We have a bet.”
“How will it end?”
“What?”
“Are you guys going to meet?”
“I... I don't know.”
“Did you talk about it?”
“Yeah, on the phone, the first time?”
“There was another time??”
“No,” Zoro whispered not knowing why.
“So when do you meet?”
“I just told you I wasn't even sure!”
Luffy pouted, super-disappointed. Seriously, why was he even roommate with such a kid, already? Oh, right. He had a very mature side surprisingly popping up, sometimes.
“Don't do that face to me, won't work.”
“I don't know what you're talking about.”
“Yeah, right.”
Someone knocked on the door after those words, and before Zoro even thought about moving to open, Luffy had left his seat and already on it.
“Who's that?” he asked.
The door opened on two men he never saw before. Luffy greeted them before turning to Zoro.
“You forgot? We have our party tonight!”
Damn, yes. He forgot.
He stood up and came to meet the guys. One of them was slightly higher than Luffy, curly black hair, without doubt with African origin. The other, about Zoro's height, had a weird eyebrow, blond hair eating half of his face, dressed in a nice suit.
“Remember those guys I told you about? Well, here's Sanji, and Usopp, whom I met yesterday!”
I hope you liked it, as usual, please leave a comment (or like and share!) because I do need an opinion *wink wink* - or you can also send me a message if you want!
Reminder: they never told each other their names :D

One Piece: The 10 Best Episodes
https://ift.tt/3iTYopn
Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece has become one of the most popular anime and manga series of all time. The series has been running for over two decades and accumulated a staggering amount of episodes that puts it nearly at the 1000-episode mark. One Piece joyfully indulges in many of the aspects that make action shounen anime series so addictive and fun.
Despite the series’ influence on the rest of anime, it’s hard to maintain consistent quality after so much time. The One Piece anime is notorious for exhaustive spans of “filler,” and the vast amount of content can easily intimidate some from ever checking out the series. Funimation recently announced that their dub of One Piece has resumed and so there’s never been a better time to jump into the series. To help make the anime feel a little less impenetrable, here are some of the very best episodes that One Piece has to offer.
“Thank You, Merry! Snow Falls over the Parting Sea!”
“Thank You, Merry!” is easily the emotional apex of One Piece and you don’t have to even be a fan of the series to break down into tears over this touching, genuine story. The Straw Hat Pirates are off on another journey, when they notice that their ship, the Going Merry, begins to crack and fall into disrepair. This prompts Luffy and company to realize that it’s time to say goodbye to their first vessel and they hold a cathartic Viking funeral for the ship. This is such a beautiful example of what the strength of One Piece’s characters can accomplish. The final moment where the spirit of Merry apologizes to the pirates for not being able to take them further on their journey—as if she did something wrong—is just heart wrenching.
“Eliminated Friends – The Final Day of the Straw Hat Crew”
It’s very easy for anime to fall into ruts or become repetitive, especially when it comes to how the battles play out. One Piece is guilty of this too, but “Eliminated Friends” is an excellent example of defying expectations. The Straw Pirates find themselves up against the Shichibukai and one of their members, Kuma, has an overpowered ability to slap people away into the sky to an undetermined fate.
“Eliminated Friends” has Luffy slowly watch all of his team members get flung away. Not only is there a real sense of dread, but Luffy also has a breakdown over how he’s not able to save anyone. It’s the kind of vulnerable moment that shounen anime heroes typically don’t show. It also ends on a fantastic cliffhanger that really messes with the audience.
“Everything Is to Protect My Friends! Second Gear Activated!”
One Piece is an anime that features plenty of over the top abilities and techniques, but much like how the initial appearance of Super Saiyans is pivotal for Dragon Ball Z, it’s a very significant moment when Luffy first activates Second Gear mode. Technically, Second Gear is achieved at the end of the previous episode, but “Second Gear Activated!” is pure action as Luffy’s enhanced skills and strength are put to the test. Luffy’s powered up fight against Blueno is extremely satisfying and looks amazing. The juxtaposition of all of this with the other pirates’ fight with the Franky Family just works so well.
“A Fist of Divine Speed! Another Gear Four Application Activated!”
The later episodes of One Piece are steeped in a number of issues, but they’re still able to tap into greatness on occasion and remind audiences how exciting the action and characters can be. Luffy faces a difficult opponent with Katakuri and he pushes Luffy to show off an intense new form, Fourth Gear: Snakeman. The whole Snakeman transformation and its rapid fight style against Katakuri is a sight to behold. It’s a great battle and it’s particularly satisfying due to how evenly matched they are, which is perfectly illustrated with the explosive conclusion of the episode.
“Say You Want to Live! We Are Your Friends!”
“Say You Want to Live!” is a fantastic example of how far the Straw Hats are willing to go for each other. Robin begins to panic that Luffy and his crew will abandon her due to the baggage that she brings along with her. Luffy in fact does the contrary and declares war against the World Government in defense of Robin. The Straw Hats are willing to ruin their reputation to the whole world, just to help out one of their own.”We Are Your Friends!” also contains another one of the most heartbreaking moments in the entire series when Robin goes into her grueling “I want to live,” speech. It’s a great reminder of how strong the development of these characters is during the show’s start. It’s a beautiful ending.
“A Heartbreaking Duel! Luffy vs Sanji! – Part 2”
Episodes 807 and 808 are packaged together as a one-hour special, but it’s the second half that really stands out. Luffy and company have faced off against many horrendous villains, but one of the most difficult fights involves a clash between Luffy and one of his own, Sanji. Sanji gets pulled in two directions and decides to embrace his royal heritage and leave the Straw Hats’ grubby existence for a more luxurious and respectful tenure with the Big Mom Pirates.

New One Piece English Dubbed Episodes to Arrive in August
By Daniel Kurland
The battle between Sanji and Luffy is one-sided, but what hits the most here is Luffy’s dedication to his teammate. Luffy’s speech at the end about how he’ll starve himself and remain immobile until Sanji rejoins him because he needs him to become the Pirate King is just a brutal scene. Sanji’s eventual breakdown shows that he also cares and that this situation isn’t pleasurable for anyone. The use of the song “Memories” turns it into even more of an emotional onslaught.
“Fists Full of Emotion! Luffy Unleashes Gatling with All His Might!”
The Enies Lobby Arc in One Piece is easily one of the most captivating saga of episodes that the anime pulls off. “Fists Full of Emotion!” acts as a major climax of that chaos as all of the Straw Hat Pirates have their hands full. Most of the crew have to contend with Marines, who also have Devil Fruit powers, but Luffy meets his match against Lucci. Luffy is on the outs and it’s not until Usopp delivers some inspiring words that help him get back on his feet. It’s an important moment between Luffy and Usopp, but it results in the unveiling of Luffy’s Gum-Gum Jet Gatling technique, which finally gives him the necessary advantage to beat Lucci.
“End of the Fishman Empire! Nami’s My Friend!”
The earliest episodes of One Piece have a real charm as the anime is still finding its footing and establishing many things that become staples of the series. “Nami’s My Friend” is just an excellent episode of One Piece that delivers on the action and finds a powerful emotional core to ground it all. Luffy’s battle against Arlong takes an unexpected turn when he learns that the fishman has been abusing Nami to produce maps for his team. The evidence of the pain that Nami’s experienced throws Luffy into such a rage that he demolishes Arlong Park. It’s an episode that shows what drives Luffy and it also marks Nami’s re-entry into the Straw Hats, which sets the pirates off into the next dangerous stage of their journey.
“Luffy Vs. Usopp! Collision of Two Men’s Pride!”
Episodes 235 and 236 tell the same story of the dangerous rift between Luffy and Usopp, but it’s the latter of the two that features the fallout and consequences over all of this. Usopp shares a deep connection with the Going Merry, so Luffy’s announcement that they can’t repair the vessel and need to get a new one is viewed as a personal affront by Usopp. The fight that follows feels like the first real schism between Luffy and his friends and it teaches him the burden that a captain has to bear. This is a battle that neither friend wants to engage in and it messes both of them up for a while as a result.
“I Will Surpass You! Rain Falls in Alabasta”
One Piece has devoted hundreds of episodes to battles between Luffy and some new threat, but “I Will Surpass You!” is just a good episode that cuts to the chase and features impressive fights and attractive animation. Luffy currently has to contend against Crocodile and their battle is set within some ruins, which add plenty of ambiance to the altercation. Luffy gets very creative with his various abilities to help overpower Crocodile, which makes for a fun fight. Amidst the carnage, there’s also a deeper message present in this one as Vivi repeatedly tries to emphasize that violence is not the solution to problems.
One Piece can currently be streamed on Funimation.com, Hulu, and Netflix, in various capacities
