I've been watching qsmp and it's amazing how much Spanish is coming back to me, I end up forgetting to put subtitles on and still usually know what's being said! I even know some basic words in Portuguese now too, like "fofo" and "obrigado" and "Richas bota o armadura". I'm having a ROUGH time with following French tho so thank fuck for the live translator.
It's awesome to watch actual adults communicate in multiple languages and work together and be friends and make such a cool riveting story!!!

Okay, I'm intrigued. Where should I start with Hellraiser? Which movie (if indeed I should start with a movie)? I have no idea what it is about, I haven't even read a wikipedia page. I stand ready to be enlightened!
Thank you <3
Oooh I'm so happy I intrigued you! I'm not an authority on this question in any shape or form, obviously. There is quite a bit of material. There are books, movies and comic books, but I think it's very safe to start with a movie. Best is to start with the first 1987 Hellraiser movie imo That should tell you if you like it or not.
Although to risk being a little controversial perhaps: I think it's also safe to start with the 2022 movie if you want, because narratively it's not connected. It's more of a spin-off, so you wouldn't spoil anything for yourself. And I think one of the reasons behind such "remakes" is to introduce something older to a new audience, so it's not a mistake to start with that.
They have very different vibes, and are made with very different technology, obviously. Interestingly, to me the original is stronger in plot and the scenes, and the 2022 is basically just eye-candy. But that's just my opinion.
The 1987 is also shorter, which: can we please bring back 1.5hr movies?
Also, obviously, it's horror, and it has strong S/M, BDSM elements, and body horror so you know... be mindful of the dead doves ^^"
Anyway, good luck with the exploration, and let me know how you like it <3

my prof just explained on the syllabus that he’s included more points in the class than we needed to pass, so we could skip up like?? 20 small assignments/quizzes/participation!! and still get a very high grade!!
the idea was that we could focus on assignments that played to our strengths - only do the participation stuff if we like to talk out loud - only do the quizzes/readings if we want to do the class remotely - only do online discussions if we like to talk and share opinions but struggle with anxiety in class ect.
and that’s cool enough but then he pulled up DnD character sheets with drawings he’d done of these hypothetical student player classes and how our various accessibility needs could be gamified to ‘max out’ different aspects of the class to get high grades and like!!!!!
hell yeah!!!! let’s treat accessibility in higher education not just as a necessity but as the fun, engaging, and creative aspect of learning that it is!!! I love this!!
EDIT: For proper credit or further questions about his system please find my professor on twitter @/kurtishanlon

the older i get and the closer i am to reaching 30, the more the people around me try to deny me my age. it’s a constant ‘oh you’re just turning 29 again teehee 🤭’ or ‘dont tell your SO that, he’ll leave you for a younger model 😉’ and i just???? hate it?????????
i spent my entire teenaged years fighting for my life. i crawled through the deepest pits of my depression to cling to the promise of a life beyond that pain. i was so convinced that i was going to die young, that i would never see the grace of my age starting with a 2, let alone 3.
so im going to turn 30, and there’s not a damn thing anyone can do to stop me from loving it.

advice i think we should tell children is that when adults say stuff like ‘now that i’m an adult i get really excited about stuff like coffee tables and bathrooms and rugs etc’ they don’t mean ‘and now i don’t care about blorbo and squimbus from my childhood tv shows anymore’ bc your average adult still loves all the same pop culture stuff they always did; they just have a greater appreciation for the mundane as well. growing up just means you can enjoy life twice as much now. you can get really excited about a new stuffed animal AND about a new kitchen sponge. peace and love
