ik the common agreement in neurodivergent circles seems to be that we all function better at night but here's to the ones who are on the opposite end of the spectrum. To the early birds who wake at 7 and can't stay up past 10pm. To the ones who are left out of almost every social event bc everything seems to be happening after 8 but you're normally in bed by that point. To the ones who are made fun of bc "only little kids go to bed that early". To the ones who, even if they wanted to, can never seem to find their place among others bc of society's expectation that the real fun only begins after midnight. I see you, I feel you, and I wish you a very same

I couldn’t fight the tears as they started to sting along my water lines, I forced my eyes closed and tried to kick my lips, they tasted like poison and rubbed. I reached out for the countertop in-front of me. Finger shaking, just slightly as I grabbed the plastic in my hand. Three of four, say positive, the fourth didn’t give me an answer. How did this happen?!
“I know how this happen, in a very pleasurable way.....because I was being an idiot four months ago!” I scolded myself after asking my self the questions.
I swallowed and looked at my phone, it was new, Enji, bought it for me when I’d lost my old one off the roof of his car. I shuffled on my seat that were the steps to my tub. I took a deep breath, “I can’t tell him, I’ll have to leave him. I don’t want my child to go through the same things his children did.”
I stood up and started pacing the bathroom, “good plan good plan.” I lied to myself.
“Maybe I should tell him? I won’t be able to do it alone....” I stopped and looked at myself in the mirror, “No! What if.”
I felt the hot streaks running down the curves of my cheeks and jaw, but it didn’t register. I clenched my jaw and forced my eyes shut, I felt queasy, and the puking began. I stood up after kneeling for like ten minutes and rushed over to my legs mirror. I rose my hoodie, and it all made sense why I’d gained weight, if you looked hard enough, you could the bulge slowly not really, but just becoming visible, I looked bloated... maybe that’s why he never realized it.... also since it’s winter I’ve been using sweaters and hoodies much to Enji’s distaste. I laughed to myself before pouting, and placing both my hands on either side of my stomach, “I’m scared....” I swallowed the taste of fear, maybe puke, “I’ve never done this... I can’t call my parents... there not in Japan....” I fidgeted and pulled my shirt down, I heard the door bell and perked up, “Oh! My Noodles are here!”
I rushed to the door wallet in hand and ready to get my dood only to come face with Enji.
“Heeeeyyyyyy,” I poked my head out the door and looked around then poured and looked up at him, “You’re not the delivery guy.”
He gave me a look that clearly stated “Are you SERIOUS?”
“Right! You should come in before my pesky neighbor sees!” I pulled him in and looked around once more, my closest neighbor was actually about a quarter mile away, but that doesn’t matter.
“Soooooo,” I turned around and licked the door, “I didn’t expect you at all.” I smiled and fidgeted with my hands feeling sick.
“I’ve come to discuss this relationship.” His words were straight, I felt a fill run through my blood and bones, if he leaves.... what am I gonna do?
“Oh,” I nodded looked down, my voice was a whisper, “I guess say what you need.”
“I can’t keep having an affair, there are rumors rising already. My image can’t be ruined like this.”
I felt my heart pick up, my breathing felt struggled.
“I see,” I didn’t look up as I made myself take a breath feeling my heartbeat in my throat, “well, if this is it, I guess I should give back the jewelry, and other expensive gifts huh?”
“No, keep them, that’s not what I’m here for.” He shook his head eyes closed.
“Alright, is there anything else you need to say? Before you go?”
“I’m getting a divorce,” the words were like a punch to the stomach, I wasn’t the one being divorced but it definitely hit, I felt it rushing up. I rushed or my bathroom and stuffed the pregnancy tests into my hoodie pocket so Enji wouldn’t see them, I clung to the toilet shoving up the seat puked letting it all out. I was met with a tug at my hair, Enji was holding it back and fumbling with a black scrunches I’d left on my sink. He sighed as he rubbed my back, he kneeled beside me rubbing my back and handing me toilet tissue to wipe my mouth a bit that burned its wya through my nose. I took it and wiped my mouth away, I dry heaved a bit, and felt myself shaking, cold, so cold. Enji kept flushing the toilet until it was all gone, he helped me to sit on the toilet, “You’re sick.”
He sighed and closed his eyes, “Don’t move from here until I get back.”
I nodded and looked down, I let out a sigh and groaned, a divorce? He’s leaving Rei? Officially? I mean, it’s good cause this won’t be so scandalous anymore, but... it’s sudden.
I tried to stand by my thighs were shaky and weak. I paced my hands into hem and felt tears, I closed my eyes and let them fall, a new heat on my cheeks wiped them away, I looked to see Enji there, hands on my face, he could definitely crush my skull, his eyes looked sad, but his face was not showing that.
“I brought you water and some medicine to help with nausea. I don’t know what this is, but let’s get you to bed, you look tired, your cheeks and eyes are red and you look weak.” He didn’t let me answer as he gave me the medicine and stood up making his way to my room outside the bathroom and I could hear him moving the blankets.
Getting it my bed Enji told my to put my hand up, I did, he pulled my hoodie off leaving me in the tank top I wore underneath. Something fell but I don’t pay attention to what, but mostly because Enji was helping me sit, even if I didn’t want to. “You’ve already order food, I’ll wait here with you until gets here.”
He took my hand squeezed and I just nodded, the tears in my eyes, I didn’t even feel them, “So sweet.”
For a minute I forgot I was pregnant, until my phone gave a buzz, I looked ya it on the nightstand. I know the chime, it was for my period tracker, I’d neglected completely four times now. Enji didn’t read my phone simply handing it to me. I thanked him and swiped away the notification, “sleep.” He said and brought his free hand to brush my hair back, I craved his warm hand in this cold moment, “If you leave wake me up.” He nodded, and I sighed and started to shuffle in the blanket.
***
“(Y/n),” I was shook awake, I blinked a few times feeling hot in the blanket I sat and pushed it back, I stood up and just as I was about to answer, back in the bathroom.
“We should take you to a doctor.” I hugged and nodded, “yeeaaahhhh.”
“Do you have one?” He asked and looked at his phone.
“No sir.” I was honest.
I heard him sigh, “Take off that shirt,” I hear him walk away followed by some clattering. I pulled off my shirt and he brought back my hoodie, “Wear this, I’m taking you to a doctor.”
He left again and started to talk on the phone, I pouted and pulled on my hoodie after taking off my shirt, “bully, I didn’t even get my lunch.”
I walked spurns my house in the socks I just pulled on looking for my shoes, “where?” I dropped to my knees looking under the sofa, “are you?” I reached aliens and felt something.
“Shoes?” I asked and pulled out some old low sneakers that I used to wear.... once, when I tried to work out.
“It’ll work.” I shrugged and started to pull them on.
“Ready?” I answered back with “YES DADDY SIR IM READY!” I heard a heavy sigh and smiled pushing myself off the floor as he walked into the room, he held up a bag, my food.
“Get in the car.” He tossed me my keys, “No driving.” I nodded and rushed to my car and got in the passenger side and turned it on. I pulled on my seat belt and sat waiting, I huffed after literally two minutes passed.
I honked then smiled seeing Enji come into the garage, I got happy, I like car rides with Enji...kinda like a dog I guess.... he handed me the plastic bag and placed a lime soda in the cup holder, “Do NOT, open it until were on the road.” I nodded and waited, until we pulled out and took the turn.
I opened my bag and found the stir fry noddles is been craving all day, “Don’t way to much, if you puke again well have to stop and clean the car.” “Okay, got it.”
I started of eat and look out the window and indulge in the noodles. I stopped a quarter way in when I felt a shuffle in my abdomen. My food was hitting on an empty stomach, and it’s showing. I covered the food up and placed it back in the bag and tried to didn’t some soda. I finished the drink by the time we pulled up to a clinc.... a women’s clinic. I cringed at the sight. “Why here?” I asked.
“I thought you’d be more comfortable with a woman for your doctor.
“Okaaaayyyy.” I prepped myself to get out, I watched Enji get out with no hesitation, I still hesitated, until he came and opened my door offering a hand. I took it and was pulled back by my seatbelt. I laughed sheepishly and I clicked it before getting help again. We walked in and surprisingly empty, I guess the parking lot gave that away though. We walked in, Enji made me sit, he went and got the paper work from the secretary, and brought it back and I started to fill it out. I smiled as I gave back to him, and he got up and took it back. He told the nurse something and she nodded with a big smile. He nodded and came back to sit by my side. I felt nervous, and didn’t fight the bouncing of my leg, I shimmied closer to his side and leaned my head on his shoulder. A few minutes passed until they called. They took blood for vitamin checks, and muscle and bone stuff, urine for some tests, something about protein and I didn’t catch the rest. They told me to sit on the bed my doctor would be here soon. Then asked if I’d like Enji in the room or not, I nodded and said yes let him stay, I kNOW WHAT THIS IS.... maybe it won’t be so bad with someone else. A few more minutes and here she came, a short plump woman with bright eyes.
“I’m here, so tell me whats happening.” She said and didn’t even look at me, just read some papers.
“Well, I’ve been queasy, and I’ve been puking most of the day-“ I was wished by a hand on my back, “This will help you.” I watched Enji reach into his pocket and pull out a ziplock I cringed at the sight, the four tests I’d stuffed in my jacket.
The doctor took it and looked at them and laughed, “Well,” she smiled and clipped them to her board, “I’ll tell them to run the urine for a test.”
“Thank you.” Enji answered and she nodded then left.
“.......sooooooo, hows the weather up there?” I said not looking up at him. “Why didn’t you tell me?” He didn’t look at me, just ahead at the wall. I looked around, “I was scared, that maybe, you wouldn’t want it or you know....your past... that you might... you know.....” The sigh he let out was depressing, I tried to look at him. I was hurt, out of every fight I’ve ever seen him in, I felt like maybe, just maybe, this would be the lowest I’d ever see him. “I-“ “No, don’t say your sorry,” his stare still on the floor, “I don’t blame you.... for thinking those things, if you want to leave with this child then you can do so. I just want you to know these few things before you make a choice.”
I swallowed the lump in my throat, it’s weird because I’m not the one who just got emotionally wounded.
“I don’t deserve to be a father again, I know it, I understand the things I’ve done are not right. It can’t easily be forgiven. The things I’ve done can last over a life time, I’m working to fix all these things, I don’t want to hurt the one I love anymore, but I can’t stand the thought of hurting innocent people. I wanted to spend what’s left of my life with you, this is sudden, and you have the decision and freedom to decide what you think is best, but I promise you, this time, I will be the best man I can for you, and for this child. I don’t want to hurt anyone, I want to be the best I can and prove that I know what it’s like to be real father, to show I know what love really is. I won’t force you to make any decisions, and I won’t force my way into its life, I only want to do this, if you do this with me.”
I nodded and swallowed, great now IM crying. I tired to reach for his hand, “Enji.” His hand squeezed mine once I held his, “I’d love to share my life and first child with you,” I sniffled, “I don’t want my first child to not know it’s dad, so please, do everything you can to be there for us.”
***
“ILL,” I grunted and squeezed the hand burning my flesh, “I promise,” I let out a deep breath, “I’ll show you pain when this is over.” I took a few labored breaths, squeezing his hand, I pulled my hand out of his and took of my new wedding ring, “hold this it’s about to hurt us both once this head starts coming out.” I hissed feeling a sharp pain and then I felt it, it felt like a poop you can’t hold it, it dropped lower and “Alright Mrs.Todoroki, it’s crowning, so just give us a nice push-“
I flexed my lower abdomen and stopped when he said, I took breath, and clenched to Enji’s hand making sure to not squeezed my lower muscles in pain to avoid excessive bruising, “1...2...3... and push.”
I pushed again feeling pressure leaving my inside and pouring out of me, “Breathe,” the Doctor said and she looked up at me, “Someone has definitely been doing their workouts, this is going very quick and smooth.” She disappeared behind my legs and said “Last one,” a paused that felt like an hour, “Push-“ crying filled the room, “It’s a boy! Congratulations! Would you like to cut the umbilical cord Mr.Todoroki?” I let go of his hand but he hesitated, I nodded at him with a smile, the blood drained from him when he saw what everything looked like down there, he took the scissors and quickly cut before coming back to my side, “Placenta is coming.” She sis do felt another wave of pressure leaving me stomach, and I heard a wet plop, and a metallic sound. I shivered but quickly recovered when my necked son was placed on my now bear chest, I held him close and cried, he was a bit bloody still but I was so happy. The tears started falling as I hugged his gently and kissed his head of already bright red hair. “Precious, boy.” I said and gen’s got tried to rub some stuff off his face, he quickly attached to my breast and started to suckle,t tears didn’t stop as I looked up at Enji, he was wiping his own eyes.
“Have you thought of any names? Or should we wait a while?” The doctors said replacing her gloves and smock. “Well,” I looked up at Enji, “Things worked out, so? How about it?”
The doctor looked between us and Enji took the pen and notepad a nurse was holding, he wrote down the name and they nodded and took it, “Well then, I’ll leave you two with him a while longer until your pain has subsided and then we’ll take him to be weighed, and a few other things.”
We nodded and she smiled, “Congratulations, to the both of you.” Once more, after he stopped suckling I handed him to Enji and pulled my gown up, Enji seemed so scared, the baby WASNT small, he had rolls already, and they’re beautiful, but in Enji’s hands, he’s so small. “Hello,” he whispered and tried to cradle it ashore his chest on his forearm, it’s head resting against his bicep and pec. He brought his free hand to cover its torso and side, “I’m your father, I won’t ever leave you, I won’t ever hurt you, I never want to lose you, I’ll be with you always.” Call the hormone imbalance and recent loss of my child, but I was crying, I covered my face with my hands wiping the tears away, so cute.
***
“Enji?” I peeked into my room, nothing, “Enji?” Nothing was in the babies room, “Enji-“ there he was ok his back, on the floor, baby held up in the air, in his hands. The baby was laughing and flailing his arms and kicking. It was cute, I’d bought him an endeavor themed baby onesie, and Enji was wearing his hero costume without the armor. I stayed quiet watching as he stood up, and held the baby up to his shoulder, the baby placing a fist and his cheek on his shoulder, his eyes closed as Enji held him close. “I promise, I’ll never leave you.”
***
“where is he?!” I panicked and looked for my son, who just disappeared. I ran around the house and panic rose through the round when I heard gurgling don’t DROWN PELASE DONT DROWN BABY! Bursting into the master room fight or flight on high I felt stupid seeing Enji sleeping on his back arm circled around and pulling into his side the bundle of fire and Todoroki I was panicking for. The baby cooed moving closer to Enji, I sighed, my adrenaline wearing down, it was cute, especially when Enji turned to his side to hug our son to his chest, and mumbled out, “I’ll become someone you’ll be proud of, someone you can count on always.”

Ok, so I'm gonna start posting one-shots from my post putting others first one-shot book onto here. First, we have Trust In Me which is Roceit obviously.
Synopsis: It's been an entire week since the video and Roman hasn't come out of his room at all, not even to eat. After a discussion with Thomas and a heavy scolding from Remus, Janus realises that Roman has had a severe creative burn out.
Can Janus help Roman recover?
P.s This is based on my head cannon that Janus can force sides to sleep if they're not looking after themselves. I know in the video it saids denial but I think Janus's core functions are Deceit and Self Preservation especially because of the language he used during putting others first.
Tw: Self Harm, not looking after one's self and creative burnout.
It had been nearly over a week since the video and Roman had refused to let anyone in his room. After a talk with Virgil and Janus, they had both managed to make amends, Patton was so relieved. Thomas not only took time for himself but he talked with Virgil and reassured him that he trusted him. The youtuber also apologised to Logan for ignoring him and reassured him that he would listen to him more often. However, Thomas was overworking himself and began to sleep less. Everyone including Thomas thought Roman needed time to heal, boy they were wrong.
That brought Thomas to today, he was sleep-deprived and barely functioning. He knew that Janus would be the best one to call to help solve the problem due to him being the expert on self-care.
Janus sunk up in his new spot in the kitchen. He looked at Thomas with deep worry and concern.
"How can I help you, Thomas?!"
"I haven't been able to sleep, I took your advice but then I kept staying up later and later jotting down ideas."
"Ah, I see, Roman hasn't come out of his room since the video, he hasn't come down for meals. Every time Patton has left a plate outside Roman's door it has remained untouched. We haven't even been able to sink into Roman's room."
"Oh no that's bad!"
"Heck yeah and you deserve it, Roman's half of the imagination was on fire and I had to put it out all by myself."
"That kind of language won't help Thomas, Remus."
"You don't have the right to tell me what to do! Especially after you abandoned me and broke my brother."
"Re, he made fun of my name, he needed to know he was wrong. I was just trying to teach him."
"Don't you lie to me, you know your comeback broke him, in fact, it was worse. Look at Thomas and tell me that's a sign Thomas is ok."
"Your right, Thomas im going to use my powers on Roman. Lie down as you may begin to feel yourself drift off. Also, I advise you take a creative break as that will help Roman fully recover from whatever state he's gotten himself into."
"Thanks, Janus, make sure to send him to me when he feels better."
"Don't worry I will do, now do yourself a favour and sleep."
Thomas sunk into the covers and looked up to the sky before trying to fall asleep. Meanwhile, Janus and Remus sunk into the mindscape and hurried to Roman's Room. Remus tried the door nob but it was locked.
"Remus break down the door!"
"Yes sir!"
Remus summoned his morning star and began beating at the door till it was nothing but splinters. When the duo walked in they were absolutely heartbroken at the sight they saw. Roman was at his desk trying to come up with more ideas. The creative side, looked as thin as a twig, his prince costume was on the ground torn and he had bags underneath his eyes that could rival Virgil's eye shadow.
Roman hadn't even taken notice of the door being broken by Remus. His focus was purely on jotting down in his crimson red note book. Remus grabbed the torn up Prince costume.
"Remus go fix his costume, I can handle this!"
"J-J-Jay?"
"I'll take care of him, Remus."
"Thank you!"
Roman punched the desk in frustration, he was trying his hardest to help Thomas be productive and come up with good ideas. He couldn't remember the last time he slept or ate but he remembered that he needed to prove to Thomas that he was useful. He looked at his wrist and saw yet another bruise form on his already damaged body.
"Oh Roman, we've all been so worried, you haven't been eating any of the food Patton left outside of your door."
The creative side jumped at the sight of the snake. He was sure he had locked his door but when he saw the broken-down door he was highly confused. Roman looked at Janus with a cold expression.
"Roman, listen to me it's been over a week, Thomas is burned out for the constant input your giving. You need to rest, you've burnt yourself out."
"Why do you care snake, I'm the bad guy, I'm the one hurting Thomas and why did the others send you I thought they wanted me to be useful for Thomas and not hurt him."
"Roman, you're not hurting Thomas, you're hurting yourself, why can't you see that?"
"Because I'm always wrong, maybe we should go to the callback wrong, you're the bad guy wrong. Every time I share my ideas I'm wrong. It was wrong for me to make fun of your name it's actually gorgeous and suits you it's just I thought it was what the others wanted but clearly as always I was wrong."
"Oh Roman, how did we let you fall so far? I shouldn't have reacted the way I did you and Remus are not evil or similar your just both opposites and that's amazing. We all love you, Roman, when I nodded I was trying to reassure you that Thomas was telling the truth. You do so much for us."
"I-I how can I trust you, the others told me you were trying to manipulate me?!"
"I apologise for my behaviour I should have never targeted your self-esteem the way I did."
"It's ok it's my fault I should have been better but you see locked away I can be."
"No this is unhealthy behaviour, you're destroying yourself."
"I'll do- hey put me down!"
"Roman you need to rest!"
Janus gently placed Roman down on his King-sized bed. He closed his eyes focusing all of his energy on using his powers.
"N-no, need to help T-"
"Roman look at me you need to rest, you've gotten yourself severely ill."
"Jan-"
"Shhhh, Roman you need to rest."
"J-"
"It's ok, I'm right here, now sleep."
Janus gently stroked Roman's hair as his powers began to take effect. He continued to soothe the worn-out creative side.
"Don't fight it you need to rest."
"Janus how a-"
"Sleep."
Roman wanted to fight it to stay awake but for the first time in weeks, he felt so relaxed. The creative side drifted off into unconsciousness. Janus tucked Roman in and gently kissed him on the cheek. He then grabbed the thermometer and checked the temperature of the creative side. Janus gasped out how hot Roman was, this indeed was a severe burnout and it would take at least a few weeks to nurse Roman back to help. Guilt struck his heart if only they'd bothered to barge into Roman's room after the video, then this wouldn't have happened.
"Rest well, my love."
Roman groaned in pain, he felt as hot as lava. Everything was blurry and the only thing he could make out was a blur of dark blue and black.
"L-Logan?"
"It's alright Janus is in the kitchen, he told me what happened."
"I'm so-"
"I don't want to hear it Roman, I understand what it's like to feel like your not listened too. I forgive you, now drink up if you weren't a figment of Thomas we would have lost you by now."
"Pft thanks teach."
Roman accepted the cup of water and gulped it down as slowly as he could. His hand shook violently trying to hand the cup back to Logan.
The next time Roman, awoke was when he felt his mouth tingle. He adjusted to his surroundings releasing that he was still sick. The creative side gasped in shock weakly, when he saw the tall figure of his brother towering over him.
"You're an idiot you know that righty."
"Right, where's Jan?"
"In the kitchen again, he thinks some sweet things will help. Sorry, it's just I was so worried especially when we broke into your room."
"I understand, Rem I-"
"I know but promise me you'll stop this self-destructive, behaviour."
"I-I can't promise but I'll try my very best."
"Good Ro-bro, now open wide you need to take some medicine."
Roman's tongue tingled in delight feeling the strawberry flavoured liquid go down. He eventually once again felt drowsy and drifted off back to sleep.
Once again Roman awoke but this time he could hear soft Disney Music echoing across the room. He blinked and saw a soft blur of black and purple.
"Ha knew that would wake you up, princey."
"Virgil?!"
"Before you start questioning your brothers with Janus making share the snake gets some rest. He's never left your side you know, for hours he would only leave to cook you food."
"I-I didn't think-"
"Of course you thought that, oh how I wished me and Patton were less hard on you during the courtroom. We should have realised that you're just a fragile little butterfly sooner."
"Why am I a butterfly?"
"Because butterflies are so beautiful and graceful."
"Im not beautiful a-"
"Roman Creativity Sanders, I will not sit here and watch you talk bad about yourself. You matter and you are so important, if it wasn't for you Thomas wouldn't be where he is today if it wasn't for you Thomas wouldn't have a fan base that adore and idolise him. You're the one who tries to make Logan loosen up, you're the one who makes sure Patton is happy and you reassure me that Thomas is safe to take risks. You make us better!"
"I-I-"
"Well, it seems I've left you speechless, this is not your fault Roman, we're your fam-ILY we should have noticed that we were hurting you."
"Sor-"
"Not everything is on you Roman, you always try to be better, you tried to be nicer to me but I didn't do that in return."
"Um thanks, I guess."
"Here Patton made you some healing soup."
Roman carefully chugged down the soup, his hands still felt extremely achy. The next time he woke up to someone other than Janus was when he felt water trickling down his forehead. Roman looked up to see a familiar light blue and grey blur towering over him.
"Shh it's only me kiddo, how are you feeling?"
"Boiling."
"Your fevers died down, thanks to Thomas taking a creative break."
"He really did that for me?"
"Of course Kiddo, we've all been trying to help you recover especially Janus. In fact, he's talking with Thomas right now."
"I-I thought you all hated me, I thought everything I did wasn't good enough."
"Don't ever say that again I really do mean it kiddo we love ya. From now on I'm gonna show how much we care. I see it now that I wasn't just hurting Thomas with my strictness it hurt you too and for that I'm sorry. You're allowed to be flawed."
"Thanks, padre it-it um means alot to me."
"Now here you're still sick so you still need to take your medicine."
It took approximately four weeks for Roman to heal from his drastic creative burnout. The side crawled out of bed and changed into his black undergarments. He still didn't quite feel worthy of his Prince costume but he still felt ready to confront his others. As soon as he opened the door he was greeted by Janus who looked like he was about to burst into tears.
"R-Roman, you've fully recovered."
"Yeah, mainly thanks to you, why didn't you tell us your other main functions were denial and self-preservation."
"Only Virgil and Remus knew of my functions and powers. I just knew that you guys wouldn't believe me."
"Well, I'm very grateful you stayed by my side."
"Ah, it was nothing but seriously both you and Thomas need to learn that selfishness can be good sometimes."
"I remember me, telling you I went against you to please the others and that still stands. You were right from the beginning and I should have realised you were trying to tell me that giving up the call back to please the others was not ok."
"I'm glad you've learned and I promise you if you lie about how your feeling I'll call you out on it."
"Thank you, Janus."
"My pleasure Roman, I did promise to send you to Thomas as soon as you'd recovered but I'm sure your starving, Patton cooked your favourite."
"Mmmm lasagne."
"Bon appetite."
After that horrible burnout, Roman never ever bottled up his feelings, he even got to share his room with Remus. Thomas got another callback and he made sure this time that he compromised with his friends. It took a while but a lot of the fanders began to understand Roman's importance and problems as well. Roman stans were no longer the rarity.

akira: what’s up?
ryuji: do you want to hang out today?
akira: …
akira: no big emergency or anything?
ryuji: no
akira: let me have some breakfast first.
ryuji: ok dude, meet me at the arcade when ready
“Jeez,” Morgana sighed, glaring at the screen. “He really isn’t patient, is he?”
“Seems not,” Akira agreed, slowly getting out of bed. “But at least there’s something to do today, right?”
“I’d rather sleep,” Morgana said, stretching. “But that idiot really had to ruin that, huh?”
“No one’s saying you can’t,” Akira said, beginning to get dressed for the day.
After getting dressed in his casual wear, Akira and Morgana went downstairs. Waiting for Akira was some curry and Sojiro.
“Have you been here long?” Akira asked, sitting down for breakfast.
“No,” Sojiro said, turning on the T.V.. “But hurry up, I’m going to open soon.”
Akira nodded, and began to eat the curry. Despite how Sojiro had originally seemed, he had done a lot for Akira.
A lot more than other people had, anyway.
“Sheesh kid, you don’t have to eat that fast,” Sojiro said, eyes widening just the slightest bit. “It’s not going to go away.”
Akira smiled sheepishly at his guardian and shrugged. “An old habit I guess.”
Sojiro frowned but said nothing more, for once Akira could say with certainty that Sojiro’s sour mood was no fault of his own.
It didn’t make him feel any better though.
After breakfast, Sojiro hadn’t said anything more, leaving Akira free to find Ryuji in the arcade.
It was easy to do. The arcade lacked people, and even if it was packed, Ryuji’s bright hair would sell him out quite easily.
“Hey dude,” Ryuji greeted, smiling. “You ready to train?”
“I get a choice?” Akira asked.
“Nope!” Ryuji said. “But it’s always good to ask.”
Akira shook his head, smiling despite the torture he was about to put his body through. “Alright, lead the way.”
Once the two had changed into their gym gear and arrived at Ryuji’s training spot, the torture had begun.
Despite how little Akira had actually trained with Ryuji, he found that running came a bit easier.
In no time I’ll be the next track star, Akira jokingly thought to himself.
After a few more laps, the two made it back to the training spot. Akira sat on the ground, massaging his already sore legs.
It’s a good thing I don’t do more physical things, Akira thought. I’d be totally beat.
“You good, dude?” Ryuji asked, still panting.
“I’m fine,” Akira said. “How about you?”
Before Ryuji could respond, three people came into the area. Not unlike Ryuji and Akira, they were also wearing their gym uniforms.
But Akira figured that they had come not to train, but instead to fight if their expressions were anything to go by.
“Ah, if it isn’t the track traitor,” the boy in the middle began. “Come to crawl your way back to the track team, Sakamoto?”
“Of course not!” Ryuji responded, immediately angry.
This… wasn’t going to go well.
“Guys,” Akira interrupted. “Maybe we shouldn’t fight here?”
“You’re right,” the middle boy said. “We only came here for one reason, to claim this spot as our own.”
“Yeah,” one of the boys behind him said. “We’ll be training here from now on.”
“It’s not like there’s anywhere else to go,” the other boy said. “Because of Sakamoto we don’t even have a locker room anymore.”
Akira frowned. If this continued, he was sure it wasn’t going to be pretty. But Akira was outside of his element. How was he going to defuse a situation he had little knowledge of?
“Correct me if I’m wrong,” Akira began. “But… you were all being treated unfairly by Kamoshida, right?”
“Why do you all only blame Ryuji now?”
“Of course the delinquent wouldn’t understand,” the middle boy said harshly. “We were all able to tolerate it because we wanted a team.”
“I suppose Sakamoto just didn’t care enough,” the boy continued. “But of course, you’d get along with him, wouldn’t you?”
“Afterall you both solve things with violence, right?”
Yeah, I just get the feeling I made this worse.
“Takeishi, leave him out of this!” Ryuji hissed, glaring at the middle boy. “It’s not Akira’s fault that I got angry at Kamoshida!”
“And besides, he isn’t anything like that!”
“Oh really?” the middle boy, now known as Takeishi asked. “And how would you know that? You’ve heard about what he’s done.”
“It’s all bullshit!” Ryuji said. “Akira didn’t do anything wrong!”
“Ryuji it’s fine,” Akira interjected, standing up slowly. “We don’t need to fight over this.”
Ryuji continued to glare at Takeishi, but luckily it seemed that was all he wanted to do.
“Takeishi,” one of the boys behind him began. “Maybe we should just leave, we’ve already claimed this spot for us.”
“Yeah,” the other boy agreed. “There’s no reason for us to stay any longer.”
Takeishi looked disgruntled and annoyed, as if he had wanted to pick a fight. “You’re right.”
“No need for us to stay with this couple anyways,” Takeishi finished, turning away quickly. “You’re free to finish your date.”
Once the group was gone, Akira relaxed. The track team seemed to have odd priorities on who to resent for the disbandment of the team.
Akira would wager that even after Kamoshida’s heart changed the effect he had would probably last forever.
“God damnit!” Ryuji yelled, snapping Akira out of his thoughts. “It isn’t effin’ fair that they brought you into it.”
“It’s fine, Ryuji,” Akira said. “I involved myself in it and even if I didn’t it wouldn’t be fair for them to just blame you alone.”
“Still, bringing it up is just so effin’ stupid!” Ryuji complained. “And I was so close to punching Takeishi too…!”
“Maybe I am no different than Kamoshida,” Ryuji said, finishing his tangent.
“That’s not true,” Akira said. “Kamoshida couldn’t control his anger, you can. That's proof you’ve changed, isn’t it?”
“I guess,” Ryuji said. “It sure as hell doesn’t feel like it though.”
“Change rarely does,” Akira frowned. “And it’s not as if you’ve had a drastic change like a change of heart.”
“You really think so?” Ryuji asked.
“I mean, from how they make you out, you’ve changed for sure,” Akira said. “But people tend to be dramatic in this school, so I can’t be exactly sure…”
“Yeah, I guess that’s true,” Ryuji said. “But wait, did he forreal just imply that we were dating?!”
“Would that be so bad?” Akira asked. “Dating me, I mean.”
“C’mon dude, don’t joke around like that!” Ryuji yelled.
“I’m being serious,” Akira said blankly. “Should I be insulted?”
“H-huh…?! It’s not like that!”
After a bit more teasing, Akira went back to Leblanc. Before Akira could go back in, he was met with his phone ringing.
“Hey lover,” Akira said, smirking. “Did you miss me that much?”
“Dude, shut up about that!” Ryuji yelled. “But I mean I guess it ties into what I called you about.”
“Huh? What do you mean?” Akira asked.
“I mean, I’ve got serious anger issues, dude,” Ryuji explained. “Like I said before, I was so damn close to just punching that smug look off of Takeishi.”
“You can’t be expected to act calmly every single time something happens Ryuji,” Akira said. “Those guys were looking for a fight.”
“But luckily your handsome boyfriend was there to save the day, right?” Akira added.
“Ugh, are you even taking this seriously?!”
“I am,” Akira said. “But, for what it’s worth, I think you handled it well.”
“Really, dude?” Ryuji asked. “Because sometimes it feels like I don’t know what I’m effin’ doing.”
“Yeah,” Akira said. “And if it makes you feel better I never know what I’m doing, so I think it’s normal for us to just wing it.”
“Thanks, I think,” Ryuji said. “But man, I should probably let you go, huh?”
“I don’t need you getting in trouble for staying out too late,” Ryuji said. “I’ve already got you into trouble already.”
“Ryuji it’s fine,” Akira said. “But yeah, I should probably get in.”
“Talk to you later then?”
“Yeah,” Akira said, ending the call.
Akira walked into Leblanc, finally feeling the ache in his legs.
“Ah, you’re back,” Sojiro said. “I see you also left your cat here today.”
Akira nodded, “he wanted to sleep so I didn’t really want to bring him with me.”
“You say that as if you can speak to him,” Sojiro said. “That isn’t an odd quirk of yours, is it?”
“They called me a real ‘cat whisperer’ back home,” Akira joked.
“I see,” Sojiro said blankly.
That joke didn’t land, huh? Akira thought. Can’t win ‘em all… or any today it seems.
“But it’s a good thing Morgana kept you company, right?” Akira said. “I don’t think he’d be interested in what I was doing.”
“You still just can’t leave me here!” Morgana cried from the counter. “We’re teammates, remember?!”
“I don’t think your cat agrees with you,” Sojiro said, smiling slightly.
“You fell asleep Morgana, I wasn’t about to get scratched waking you up,” Akira said. “Cats usually don’t like being forced awake.”
“I am not a cat!” Morgana yelled.
“You keep telling yourself that, Morgana.”
“You aren’t going to spend the whole night arguing with your cat… are you?” Sojiro asked. “I didn’t think you were that starved for friendship.”
“I’m not sure what I can do,” Akira admits
“You can always study,” Sojiro suggested in a firm tone. “Your whole reputation depends on your academic abilities.”
“I get the feeling that wasn’t a suggestion,” Akira said. “But you’re right, I should probably be studying anyway.”
Sojiro nodded, “shocked you agreed so easily.”
Akira swallowed down the offense he took. He was a delinquent afterall.
After bringing a textbook over and sitting down at a booth, Akira began to get absorbed in the material.
He felt a new understanding of his schoolwork, which Morgana apparently saw as well.
“You’re really getting the hang of this, huh?” Morgana asked.
Akira nodded, still staring at the textbook.
Faintly, Akira could hear the newscaster on the T.V.. Tonight’s special seemed to be a study on the Inaba T.V. Murderer.
“Straight from home, huh…” Akira muttered, staring at the T.V. for a moment.
“Does that case mean anything to you?” Sojiro asked, noticing Akira’s change in attention.
“I don’t know,” Akira admitted. “It’s probably just because I’m from Inaba…”
“You’re from Inaba?” Morgana asked.
“You know what Inaba is?” Akira said as he shook his head and closed his textbook.
“Of course I know what Inaba is!” Morgana said. “It’s a town, right?”
“If you knew you wouldn’t be asking.”
“I’ll just close up now,” Sojiro said awkwardly. “Don’t stay up too late.”
4/30, Saturday:
After Akira’s argument with Morgana, he went to sleep for another uneventful day. His messages were thankfully blank and he had finished breakfast with no sort of interruptions.
Akira was sure that the day would be peaceful, if the matter of expulsion hadn't hung so heavily in the air.
He had tried to ignore his fear, but once he had made it onto the subway to find a seat, he found that his anxiety had risen with full force.
“Morgana,” Akira began hesitantly. “Do you think the change of heart really worked?”
“Huh?” Morgana asked, muffled from his bag. “Who are you, Ryuji?”
“I’m serious, Morgana,” Akira said.
“Everything should be fine, Akira,” Morgana said. “The shadow and palace disappeared, which represents the change in desire…”
“I think,” Morgana finished quickly.
“You don’t sound too sure,” Akira said, opening up his texts. “But I’ll tell the others you said everything will go well.”
“Good,” Morgana said. “I’m tired of repeating myself.”
akira: good news, if this doesn’t work we can blame morgana for being expelled.
ryuji: huh?
ryuji: did he say something
ann: yeah, what happened?
akira: i asked morgana about the change of heart.
akira: he said since the shadow and palace disappeared we should be fine.
ryuji: that doesn’t mean anything, man
ryuji: that cat can’t remember anything
ann: i mean, he does know his name and things about the palaces
ann: maybe whatever he was cursed with just made him forget?
akira: i think we can trust his judgement.
akira: he knows more than we do.
ryuji: but he’s an effin’ cat
akira: apparently not.
ann: for all we know he could be a model
Akira looked away from his phone as the announcer’s voice cut played through the car. He still wasn’t sure entirely about the change of heart, but he’d have to believe in Morgana. They’d done everything they could.
So for the sake of the Phantom Thieves and himself, Akira would put on a calm front.
It couldn’t be that hard, Akira reasoned with himself. At least he hoped so.
And with that hope Akira went through the day, paying attention to the best of his ability. It wasn’t exactly his fault that the classes weren’t so interesting.
But as soon as Akira got a notification, a means of distraction, he went for it. He had figured he’d done enough for the day.
ann: hey akira, after school is over do you wanna hang out?
akira: yeah sure.
akira: unrelated but have you been paying attention to class.
ann: no
akira: okay me too.
akira: but yeah where are we hanging out?
ann: you know the family diner in shibuya?
akira: i think, yeah.
ann: there i guess?
ann: i’m kinda hungry and they’ve got good desserts ann: and don’t worry, i’ll lead you there!!
akira: alright, thanks ann.
After school had finally ended, Akira followed Ann to the diner. Although he wasn’t really hungry himself, he figured that it would be nice to just hang out with Ann.
Once they had both ordered, Ann had begun with a somewhat troubled look on her face. “Y’know,” Ann said, twirling her hair. “When Shiho wakes up she’s not going to have an easy time.”
“Everyone’s going to know her from…” Ann said, trailing off for a second. “From that.”
“That’s true,” Akira agreed. “But I think she’s strong enough to deal with that.”
“Especially with Kamoshida gone,” Akira said. “And with a friend like you supporting her.”
“You say that like it’s so certain that we’ve changed Kamoshida’s heart,” Ann sighed. “We can’t be sure until the day, can we?”
“Hey!” Morgana yelled, muffled through the bag. “Are you really doubting me, Lady Ann?”
“Be quiet Morgana. We don’t need to be kicked out before we receive our food.” Akira said, looking at his bag for a moment.
“But,” Akira continued. “Morgana's right, no use in us second guessing ourselves. It’s for the best we believe it worked than to live in fear.”
“We’ve done all we can,” Akira finished. “Now all we can do is wait and hope for the best.”
“I guess that’s true,” Ann said. “I just hate feeling so powerless…”
“You weren’t powerless when we were fighting Kamoshida,” Akira countered. “You’re pretty strong, Ann.”
“You really think so?” Ann asked. “Because these days I just can’t be sure.”
“I let myself be used by Kamoshida just for Shiho’s position,” Ann said, shaking her head. “But I was such a damn idiot, there was no way he would’ve gotten rid of her position.”
“You were just doing what you thought was best, Ann,” Akira said. “There was no way you could’ve known his real intentions.”
“Akira’s right, y’know,” Morgana chimed in. “There was no real reason to doubt Kamoshida because of his reputation.”
“The fact that you two really believe that…” Ann said. “I’m kind of jealous.”
“Jealous?” Akira repeated.
“L-lady Ann…?”
“You guys can just believe in what’s right so easily,” Ann said. “You have the strength to fight for what you believe in, it just doesn’t seem fair!”
“You have that strength too,” Akira said. “You unlocked your persona to get justice for yourself and Shiho, right?”
“I mean, yeah…” Ann said. “But it just seems different.”
“I’d even say you’re stronger,” Akira continued. “You were willing to go along with Kamoshida’s abuse as long as Shiho was happy.”
“A normal person just couldn’t do that.”
“Yeah,” Ann agreed hesitantly. “It just doesn’t feel like it.”
“But… maybe…” Ann said trailing off for a moment. “We could borrow each other’s strengths!”
“I mean, we both need to improve, right?” Ann continued. “So it would be best if we relied on each other to learn what we don’t have!”
“Yeah,” Akira said. “That’s a great idea, Ann.”
“Right?” Ann said. “We’ll be the best in no time!”
Akira smiled at Ann, “yeah, this’ll be easy for us.”
After a few more minutes of idle chatter, their waitress appeared with their food. Akira had ordered their nostalgic steak while Ann seemingly went wild with the sweets they had in stock.
“...I see you enjoy cake,” Akira teased as Ann dug into what was on her plate.
“Hey, don’t knock my eating habits!” Ann said. “I’m just enjoying myself!”
Akira just smirked before he began eating his own meal.
Before long, both of their plates were cleared, with Ann finishing at an alarming rate. Akira knew he should be worried, but he figured that Ann knew her own body better than he did.
Still, her metabolism must be amazing, Akira thought. It’s kind of scary, actually.
“Well, that was fun, right?” Ann asked.
“Yeah,” Akira agreed. “It was just a bit worrying to see you eat all that cake though.”
Ann giggled, “I hope you were impressed.”
“Thoroughly.”
Before Ann could say anymore, her phone began to ring, and her face turned into one of shock once she saw the caller and she quickly picked up.
“Hello?” Ann asked quickly. “Yeah?”
“I’ll be there right away,” Ann said, ending the call. “Sorry Akira, it’s about Shiho.”
“Is it good news?” Akira asked.
“I’m pretty sure, they asked for me to come,” Ann said. “I’ll pay you for my food later!”
“It’s fine,” Akira said. “Tell Shiho I said hi, alright?”
“I promise!” Ann said, quickly rushing out the door.
“Lady Ann seemed determined, didn’t she?” Morgana asked, quickly peeking out from out of the bag.
“Yeah, she did,” Akira said. “Shiho is the reason she went into Kamoshida’s palace afterall.”
“Still, if it’s bad news, she’ll be crushed, won’t she?” Morgana said.
“I don’t think they’d tell her if it was something bad,” Akira said. “They’d tell Shiho’s parents first.”
“And even if it’s bad news, Ann’ll make it through,” Akira finished. “She’ll have us behind her.”
“Especially me!” Morgana said. “Nyahaha!”
Akira just rolled his eyes. Morgana’s crush on Ann was a bit weird…. But if Morgana was really human, it wouldn’t be too bad, would it?
It’s probably best not to think about that too much… Akira thought.
Once Akira arrived back in Leblanc, he felt the day’s exhaustion greet him with full force. Akira decided that his best course of action was to call it an early night, but before he had even made it in halfway, his phone started buzzing with activity.
“You didn’t get into a fight, did you?” Sojiro asked, staring at Akira warily.
“Nope,” Akira said, glancing at his phone. “It’s just my friends talking about schoolwork.”
“You have friends?”
“Thanks for the support,” Akira said blankly. “It’s a real boost of confidence.”
“I’m just saying with your reputation I figured you’d have a bit more trouble, kid,” Sojiro said, looking back down at the counter.
ryuji: we’re going to die.
ann: well, i’m not
ann: shiho’s awake so i’m pretty happy!
ryuji: well sorry you’re not getting expelled
ryuji: oh god we’re getting expelled
ryuji: oh god we’re so screwed
ryuji: how many days do we have left?
akira: what are you talking about?
ryuji: the meeting kamoshida is holding is soon isnt it?
akira: yeah, but we changed his heart.
ryuji: yeah but what if it doesnt work
akira: or it could.
“Sheesh, that idiot really worries a lot, doesn’t he?” Morgana complained, looking at the phone. “Also, tell Lady Ann I wish Shiho the best!”
akira: morgana said not to worry.
akira: and also he wishes shiho the best.
ann: aww, thank you mona!
ryuji: that effin’ cat has no reason to worry
ryuji: he isn’t the one getting expelled
akira: i didn’t know you cared about school that much.
ryuji: thats besides the point
ryuji: do you want to get expelled?
akira: we aren’t.
ryuji: but can we really be sure?
akira: yes.
ann: jeez ryuji, if only you cared this much about school normally
ann: akira’s right tho, it’s going to be fine
ann: and if it isnt, at least we tried!
akira: thats the spirit.
ryuji: well… if you guys say so
ryuji: but if this goes bad im blaming you guys!
akira: thanks.
ann: how sweet.
Akira turned his phone off once it seemed like the group chat was finally done for the night.
“Seems like the schoolwork problem is finally solved,” Akira said as an explanation. “So I’ll probably be going to sleep now.”
“At least you’re not a delinquent in your sleep schedule,” Sojiro said. “I’ll be locking up now, then.”
Akira nodded as he made his way upstairs.
“Make sure you don’t scare your friends off,” Sojiro yelled before finally leaving. Akira shook his head, smiling slightly.
At least he’s friendly enough to tease me, Akira thought.
Once Akira was upstairs in the safety of his attic, he changed quickly, ready for sleep to take him in its warm embrace.
Although he was sure he should be worried about the change of heart, he was much too exhausted to care.
As soon as Akira’s head hit his pillow, he found himself in a dreamless sleep. He’d later figure that wasn’t a bad change of pace.
5/1, Sunday:
Akira awoke surprisingly early, at least for it being a Sunday. Stretching in his bed, Akira slowly began to untangle himself from his sheets.
“Is it morning already?” Morgana asked from the bottom of the bed. “We don’t have to wake up now, do we?”
“We probably should,” Akira said, reaching for his phone. “But it seems we’re the first people up.”
“Finally,” Morgana said. “You guys really have to stop questioning me!”
“Questioning you…?” Akira asked. “This isn’t about the change of heart, is it?”
“Of course it is!” Morgana said. “You guys keep worrying about it even though I’ve told you it’s going to be fine!”
“It’s not that we don’t trust you,” Akira began. “But a lot is on the line for us.”
“Getting expelled wouldn’t be great for Ryuji and I,” Akira continued. “And Mishima’s future is also on the line…”
“I can get that, but still!” Morgana said. “You guys just need to have a little more faith in me!”
Akira smiled at Morgana, “it’s not that we don’t trust you, it’s just a scary situation.”
“I guess,” Morgana sighed.
Before Akira could comfort Morgana any further, his phone rang with a notification.
Takemi: Hello, my little guinea pig.
Takemi: Would you be free for an experiment today?
“You should probably accept her offer,” Morgana said, squinting at the screen. “We’re going to need her ‘special’ medicine.”
“The only reason you’re willing to accept so quickly is because you’re not the one being experimented on,” Akira said. “I could tell her my cat is interested in joining the experiments.”
“I’m not a cat!”
“She wouldn’t know that.”
akira: yeah sure.
akira: just give me a few minutes to get ready.
Takemi: Not a morning person, are you?
Takemi: Hm, well arrive soon then.
“I guess that’s decided then,” Akira said, turning off his phone. “I don’t think you need to come, Morgana, so you’re free to sleep some more.”
“Good luck with Takemi,” Morgana said, already making himself comfortable on the bed. “Remember to be on your best behavior with her.”
“It’s not that hard,” Akira said, beginning to change. “I doubt I’ll be conscious for most of it.”
After having a quick breakfast courtesy of Sojiro, Akira made his way to the clinic. Although he wasn’t excited to try Takemi’s medication, Morgana wasn’t exactly wrong with how helpful she was with Phantom Thieving.
“Ah,” Takemi said as soon as Akira walked in. “You’ve finally arrived.”
“Sorry,” Akira said. “Did you wait long?”
“No,” Takemi said. “But if you’re ready to contribute to your half of the deal, please head to the exam room.”
Akira nodded, walking into the examination room.
Let’s hope this experiment goes a bit better, Akira thought. But… it probably won’t.
“Alright,” Takemi said as she came in. “You might want to make yourself comfortable.”
Akira nodded once again, sitting on the bed in the examination room. “Is this one going to make me pass out again?”
“It might,” Takemi said as she grabbed a cup. “But that’s why you’re here, isn’t it?”
“I suppose so,” Akira said.
“This has to be perfected,” Takemi said, handing Akira the cup. “So drink it up, guinea pig.”
Akira frowned at the liquid before quickly downing it, giving himself no chance to hesitate.
“Wow,” Takemi said, eyes widening. “You’re really determined, aren’t you?”
“It’s…” Akira said, before being cut off by a pulse in his head.
Looks like I won’t be awake for much longer… Akira thought.
Before Akira could say or think anything else, he found himself lying on the bed, vision darkening.
“That didn’t take long,” Takemi said, voice already far away.
When Akira awoke again, there was another man in the examination room. From the look on Takemi’s face, it was easy to tell that this man wasn’t exactly a welcome guest.
“I’m telling you, officer, you’ve been sent on a wild goose chase,” Takemi said.
“Then tell me what that kid is doing here!” the officer demanded, apparently not one for calmness in an altercation.
“I’m chronically ill,” Akira said. “I’m seeing Takemi-san to see if she can help improve my symptoms.”
The officer looked disgruntled. Apparently Akira’s lie had gone over well.
“If you don’t have anything else to ask, officer,” Takemi said, crossing her arms. “You’re welcome to leave.”
“I’ll be back next time, Takemi,” the officer promised, glaring daggers at both Takemi and Akira.
Once Akira was sure the officer was gone, he looked over at Takemi with a confused look. “What did he want?”
“I’m sure one of my colleagues was just trying to stop my research,” Takemi said, sighing. “It’s nothing ‘The Plague’ shouldn’t expect though.”
“...The Plague?” Akira repeated.
“A nickname given to me in the medical community,” Takemi said, looking away. “I don’t mind, it gives me more privacy.”
She… doesn’t seem like she wants to share any more information, Akira thought. She’s barely agreed to this deal as it is… I probably shouldn’t ask anything else.
“Still, don’t you find that annoying?” Akira asked.
“It rarely happens,” Takemi said. “But if you’re well enough to ask questions, you’re free to go.”
“Alright,” Akira said, slowly standing up.
“Text me when you get home, guinea pig. I still have a few more questions,” Tae said, looking down at her clipboard.
Once Akira arrived back at Leblanc, he went straight for the attic seeing as Leblanc still had guests.
“Welcome back, kid,” Sojiro said gruffly. “You might want to head upstairs.”
“Alright,” Akira said, quickly heading upstairs.
“Finally, you’re back,” Morgana complained.
“You’re the one who wanted to stay.”
In the safety of his attic, he pulled out his phone and began to text Takemi.
akira: i’m back home, nothing bad has happened yet.
Takemi: Yet? Are you expecting something to happen?
akira: there have been horror stories about clinical trials.
Takemi: Well hopefully you don’t get to join their ranks.
Takemi: It would be a shame to lose my guinea pig so early.
Takemi: But as long as you’re feeling fine, I won’t hold you up any longer.
“You’re allowed to come down now,” Sojiro yelled from downstairs.
Akira, with Morgana in tow, came downstairs quickly. “You said I could go out at night, right?”
“As long as you lock up,” Sojiro said. “You’re free to stay around this area.”
Akira nodded.
“What are you planning on doing?” Morgana asked.
“There’s a bathhouse nearby, right?” Akira said. “I think it’d be nice to relax there for a bit.”
“Don’t stay out too late,” Sojiro warned.
“Alright,” Akira said. “I’ll be back before you know it.”
“I won’t be here by then,” Sojiro said.
Akira said nothing as he left Leblanc once more.
“A little freedom is nice, right Morgana?” Akira said, slowly making his way to the bathhouse.
“This isn’t freedom, I’m still getting dragged around everywhere!”
“Oh well,” Akira said.
Being in the bathhouse, as Akira would find, wasn’t as relaxing as he thought. According to Morgana, the bathhouse had some sort of medicinal herb in it, meaning everyone was trying to get in.
Akira didn’t mind too much, but the silence even with all the people was sort of unnerving.
And he was sure that at least a few people were giving him weird stares.
But even just ignoring the people… tomorrow fate is decided, isn’t it? Akira thought. Kamoshida’s heart… if it isn’t changed.
There isn’t much to be done now, and it’d be a little hypocritical of me to continue to doubt Morgana’s judgment after repeating it was going to be okay. Akira thought. In the end, I can only hope for the best, right?

Summary: For all that they love each other, it takes a kidnapping for Ray to move in with Leo.
Leo collapses onto his bed, making Ray literally bounce awake.
"Roy rescheduled my morning meetings," he mutters into the pillow.
Ray flops onto his stomach too, throwing his arm around him. "That's because he's a good secretary."
Leo heaves a full-body grunt.
"Come on, Leo. You've been working nonstop arguing taxes with the state. You need a break that lasts longer than scarfing a sandwich."
Leo sighs, turning his head. Ray traces the dark circles under his eyes.
"I'll text Marjorie, tell her I'll be there at lunchtime."
"Think you'll get away with that?"
Ray scoffs. "Are you kidding? She adores you. Plus, you're the mayor. I told you that's a good excuse."
"Ah, so you just want me for an excuse."
"Well I'm definitely not here for the puns."
They kiss, slow and sweet, pressing their forehead together afterwards.
Leo sighs again. "I suppose I can take one morning."
Ray smiles, stroking his cheek. "Go back to sleep."
Leo gives him another savoring kiss before he rolls over. Ray gropes for his phone, lost somewhere under the bed 'cause it's a dick. He texts Marjorie, citing last month when he'd taken on Don and Dawn for a whole day for her. She replies that he's lucky she likes him. She doesn't specify which him.
When Leo tugs at him, he follows.
At 10 am, Ray feels like a new man. Holy shit.
With a spring in his step, he bounds to the kitchen and gets some scrambled eggs going. His computer science degree didn't leave much room for cooking, but he can at least make breakfast without the smoke detector tattling on him.
He's about to plate them when Leo wraps around him, sleep soft, swaying them a little.
Ray laughs. "Ketchup?"
"Always," Leo says, lips pressed against Ray's throat.
Leo doesn't say much as they eat. The nap clearly only made him realize how exhausted he is, interrupting his bites with long yawns and eye rubs. Ray occasionally caresses his face with the back of his hand, eliciting a tiny smile.
"Okay," Ray says when they're done, "back to bed."
Leo offers minimal protest, letting himself get dragged. Ray gently pushes him down.
"Need anything?" Ray asks.
Leo flicks his eyes over him. He licks his lips.
Smirking, Ray crawls on top of him. Leo locks his hands behind his head and kisses him soundly.
As Ray drops to his elbows, Leo kisses up to his ear and whispers, "Fuck me?"
Ray nuzzles the crook of his shoulder. "One condition." He looks up at him. "You lie back and let me take care of you."
Leo's pupils blow wide. He quickly nods.
Ray pecks his lips and sits back on his heels, fumbling for the nightstand drawer.
"Get two," Leo murmurs, snuggling into the pillow, "Don't feel like changin' the sheets yet."
Ray chuckles. "Sure."
He fucks him slow, what Leo likes best, one of Leo's legs on his shoulder and the other around his waist. Whenever Leo tries to lift his hips, Ray holds him down with a murmured reminder to relax.
He kisses his knee and adds, "You tell me what to do."
Leo shudders. "Faster."
Thank God, 'cause Ray doesn't know how long he'd've been able to keep the slow pace.
Leo clutches the sheets, moans harmonizing with Ray's balls slapping against his skin.
"Kiss me," he hisses.
Ray bends him in half to reach his lips. Leo cries out, muffled by Ray's tongue. He claws Ray's back, leaving red marks.
"Touch me," he growls.
Ray barks a laugh. "Thought I was."
Leo scrambles for his hand, wrapping his fingers around his cock as best he can between them. Ray pushes up a little for a better grip. Leo's moans pitch higher.
"I'm gonna―"
"Mhm," Ray whispers, licking up Leo's throat, "Let go, Leo." He presses his lips to his ear. "I love you."
"Ray," Leo whines.
Ray lets him buck into him as he comes, stroking him through it, murmuring sweet nothings against his cheek.
Then, through dazed eyes, Leo breathes, "Fuck, Ray, come inside me."
A few more thrusts, and Ray's keening Leo's name.
"I love you," Leo says, voice absolutely shattered, "I love you, I love you."
He smells like sweat and sex and Leo.
The room's filled with their breathing and kisses.
Slightly hoarse and slurred, Leo drawls, "I should take more mornings off."
Marjorie gives Ray a Look when he arrives humming a light tune. Ray beams at her.
"You're especially sunny this morning," she remarks, in the midst of coloring with Katie. Or, for Katie, scribbling yellow all over everything with Marjorie trying to stop her from covering the table too.
"Yeah, well," Ray says, following Nelly Dean and Sammy's cajoling, "I got to stay in bed longer."
Marjorie rolls her eyes.
At five, Mr. Allen picks up Don and Dawn, swinging them out of their sprints as fast as the Flash herself. He thanks Marjorie and Ray kindly as ever on his way out.
Ray stretches before joining Marjorie in clean up.
"You got a party tonight?" Marjorie asks.
Ray groans. "Always."
"Mayor gonna be there?"
"No, actually. Though it's at Palmer Inc's Central hotel again, so I'll be seeing Chef Rory."
Marjorie smirks. "Say hello for me."
"He's married," Ray reminds her again, "To two men."
"What? I'm just saying hello through a friend. What were their names again?"
"Ray and Nathaniel. Ray as in not-me-Ray. Apparently he insists on Rory calling him Ray instead of Raymond."
"And you've never met either of them?"
"No. Rory and I don't see much of each other. But I've heard enough of his Ray and Nathaniel that I feel like I've met them. Ray's always busy, Nathaniel writes articles. They both like to ramble, and they call each other 'bro' every other second. Also they try to give him vegetables, and he hates vegetables, even though he cooks with them."
Marjorie hums.
Ray pauses by the cubbies. "What?"
"Nothing, just―sounds like Raymond Palmer and his husband Nathaniel."
Ray pulls a full stop.
"...wow, I'm such an idiot."
Marjorie's eyes are widening too. "Well, don't feel too bad. I only just figured it out myself."
"Yeah, but you don't work with him."
"Well, like you said, you don't work with him that often. Doesn't sound like he's given many specifics outside their habits either."
Ray scrubs his face. "I guess I'll ask him tonight, just to be sure. Be subtle about it."
"Oh, honey," Marjorie says, "you don't have a subtle bone in your body."
Ray points to her. "Excuse me, who was able to get Don and Dawn to play with those blocks today?"
"How's the mayor, Ray?"
Ray opens his mouth. Closes it and reaches for the paper towels.
Ray probably should've factored this in when he started dating the mayor.
"This" being grabbed and pistol-whipped on his way to his second job, then waking up bound in the backseat of an old car.
Shock proves to be one helluva drug when all Ray can think about is how he hopes they didn't mess with his uniform. Also he cries a little.
There's no creepy warehouse, but an apartment. They put a jacket over Ray's shoulders to block his zip-tied hands. One guy puts an arm around his shoulders and tells him between his teeth that if Ray tries to struggle or scream, they'll put a bullet in his head.
Ray thinks they're bluffing, since there's gotta be a reason they kidnapped him. Fear freezes him under his captors' arm.
A woman is waiting for them, brown skin wrinkled and slightly sun-spotted.
"Sorry for this," she says flatly, "but we gotta get the mayor's attention. Nothin' against you."
Ray's ushered to the one beaten couch. He can't stop staring at the guns in the others' twitchy hands.
"Stay there, nice and quiet," the woman says, "and you'll be fine. Understand?"
Ray nods shakily. Shock makes him think of his waiting job again. He wonders if Rory or Jax will notice his absence enough to ask. Jax is a good friend; he might. Ugh, he'll have to wait to ask about Ray and Nathaniel now.
One of the guys carries Ray's duffle bag in. He takes out Ray's phone while the woman manhandles Ray to cut his ties.
"Now you're gonna send a text," she instructs, "One to a co-worker sayin' you're sick, and one to the mayor with this address." She relays it. "Add whatever lovey-dovey shit you want. Make 'im desperate to find you."
Ray clenches his fingers, willing them to stop trembling. He takes his phone.
Jax tells him to get better. Despair tightens Ray's throat.
It's Leo's turn.
>>Ray 40th and 1st, apartment 1E. I'm cooperating so they promised not to hurt me. Don't come here half-cocked. I love you.
Relief trickles through the fear when Leo takes a few minutes to reply. He knows him. It means Leo's planning―or someone forced him to stop and plan. Lisa, probably. He'd told Ray he was going to dinner to meet her new girlfriend tonight.
Unfortunately, the interim makes the others twitchier and the woman's eyes narrower.
Finally, Ray's phone vibrates.
>>Leo I'll be there.
The guns relax. Ray breathes out.
Leo walks in calmly. His nostrils flare when he sees a gun pressed to Ray's head, but he otherwise remains composed.
"So," he deadpans, closing the door behind him, "I assume you have complaints bureaucracy wouldn't let you state."
The woman nods. "Call me Janice, Mr. Mayor. These are my sons, Jimmy, Connor, and Dan."
"Pleasure," Len says curtly, crossing his arms. "But before we start this conversation, I'd be obliged if you―"
"Took the gun outta your boyfriend's face? Go ahead, Jimmy."
Jimmy steps away. Ray swallows. He must look like a mess, but he forces a relaxed nod to Leo.
Leo scrutinizes him a second. Janice sits at the tiny table in the corner. He joins her.
Next, Leo takes out a small notepad and pen and hands it to Janice. "Tell me while you write it all down. I promise to do my utmost to meet your points."
Janice stiffens in surprise, but starts listing. She takes up two and a half pages. Ray has no sense of time, so he doesn't know how long the meeting lasts.
Leo takes the notepad, peruses it, then puts it back in his pocket. "One: I've been working nonstop haranguing the state on taxes. Two: would you and some people be willing to attend one of those meetings? Three: would you and those you represent also be amenable to my appointing a committee to serve as a direct line to me?"
The family's eyes pop out of their faces.
Leo glances at Ray. "I'm not gonna lie, Janice. I want to disarm one of your boys and knock all of you bloody for what you've done. But the fact is, I would've done the same thing. I was almost a criminal, you know, until my dad got mixed up with the Families and was gunned down. My sister and I went into the system, held onto each other. My mother Constance fought and fought until we got to go home. My brothers Mickey and Terry helped my pick-pocketing habits and we all got to graduate college. All because of one event in my life.
"I don't want this event to change your lives like mine could've been changed with my dad still in the picture. So you let my boyfriend come over to me, and I'll get my sister and her girlfriend to tell the police that you went to him without guns and asked him to contact me nice and peaceful."
Janice's eyes are shining, but her spine is straight. "I'll hold you to your word, Mr. Mayor."
Ray stands on jelly legs. Leo stands to meet him. They clutch each other's hands with white-knuckled grips.
Without looking away from Ray, Leo says, "Come to my office in two days with whoever wants to join my next meeting. I managed to haggle for next week instead of next month. Me and my secretary are pretty good at political jargon. We can help you state your case in a way that'll make them listen. Select a few honest people to propose members of the committee. I'll arrange a walk-in appointment for them."
The three brothers keep swiveling their heads between their mother and Leo like they don't know what's throwing them off more.
Janice stands as well, folding her hands in front of her. "Thank you for your time, Mr. Mayor."
Leo glares at her. The room goes cold.
"If this happens again," he snarls, "I will not be so merciful."
Janice clenches her hands nods.
Softer, Leo says, "Come on, Ray. Let's get you home."
Ray can't look at anyone but him.
A car's waiting outside. Lisa and a black woman are in it.
"Dr. Shawna Baez," the woman says. Ray gives her a shaky handshake. "Count your breaths, okay? You're out."
She helps Ray with the counting while Leo gently presses his hand to his abdomen, breathing with him. Ray chokes a few times, leaning heavily against Leo. Meanwhile, Lisa knocks twice on the barrier and the car pulls away from the building.
The moment the car fades into focus, Ray collapses against Leo.
"I almost killed them," Leo says. Suddenly Ray realizes he's shaking too. "I almost killed them, Lise."
Lisa reaches across to squeeze his arm. "But you didn't, Lenny. Right?"
She's looking at Ray.
Ray shakes his head. "Even let 'em off easy."
Leo sighs. He pulls him closer. "I'm sorry. What they did to you was terrible. I didn't―"
"Leo. Just for a second, could you. Shut up?"
Leo kisses his hair.
"Well," Shawna says, "I hope I'll have more time to butter you up on our next dinner, Leo."
Ray snorts.
There are not two, but six people in Leo's apartment when they get back.
"Ray!" Mr. Allen cries, devastated, "Are you alright? I'm so sorry this happened to you!"
"Don't worry," Detective West-Allen says, "I've got a squad car coming. And if it's alright with you, I'll stay the night."
Most surprising, though, is Chef Rory calling from the kitchen, "You good, Sunshine?"
Ray blinks. "What...?"
"Hi!" Raymond Palmer says. Ray recognizes him from television and from a distance in a few parties. "Ray Palmer. I've got guys coming too. They'll be outside the door."
"And I'm Nathaniel," the floppy-haired guy from countless tabloids says, "Sorry we kinda tagged along."
"Pleasure to have you," Leo says. He sounds like it's not a pleasure at all.
Jax rushes to Ray. "I can't stay long. I just wanted to see if you were okay. I'm sorry I didn't do anything when you texted me, man."
"It's okay," Ray says. He tries for a smile, but it feels wrong on his face. He goes for a shoulder pat instead. "I, um. I had to keep it inconspicuous."
Jax looks far from assuaged, but he nods.
"Mick," Leo calls, "you better not be burnin' anything."
"Oh, Lenny," Lisa says, "as if he'd dare."
Ray rubs his eyes. "You two...you know each other?"
Rory grunts. "Met in the system. He was a twig. You're gettin' soup, by the way."
Ray's heard enthusiastic things about Rory's soup. He decides to focus on that for now. Well, that and―"So you're really married to that Palmer and Heywood?"
Raymond and Nathaniel grin. "Yep!" Ray chirps, "We met at―"
"Ray," Nathaniel says, rubbing his Ray's arm, "Somehow I don't think he's in the mood for our backstory tonight."
Ray's still clinging to Leo's hand. "Yeah, I'll―I'll hear it some other time."
"Of course," Raymond quickly replies, "Sorry, yes."
"I'm Shawna, by the way," Shawna says, giving Raymond the chance to change topics.
"Come on," Leo murmurs.
The bedroom door closes on Rory's, "So you're the new girlfriend."
Ray's legs can't hold him anymore.
"I'm sorry," Leo whispers from the edge of the bed.
Ray, now with comfy sweats and a tray of heavenly soup, shrugs. "Not gonna lie, I'm a little upset that you brushed it off so easy―"
"I didn't want to," Leo snaps. "As soon as I walked in there, I had a plan to break one of their wrists and take their gun. I know how to shoot someone, Ray. I know where to aim. How to make them scream."
Ray sits in silence.
Leo looks at the wall. "My dad liked to teach me lessons. Well―he called 'em lessons. When he was assigned a target that wasn't money or jewels, he'd show me things. I never shot anyone―" Ray blows out a sigh, "―but it's all still there. Eidetic memory, you know."
"Yeah," Ray croaks, "I know."
Leo closes his eyes. "He would've tried teaching Lisa, too." Quieter, he adds, "My baby sister."
He turns back to Ray. "So no, I didn't wanna let 'em off easy. I didn't mean to minimize what happened to you." He leans forward. "But I wasn't lying. If someone takes you again, I won't fucking hesitate."
Ray sees real, cold murder. The hardened criminal Leo could've been if his father had taken one more measure to protect himself.
He kisses Leo until the look is gone. Though something in him, something he never thought was there, had relished in it.
The next morning, Ray calls Marjorie. She curses and yells at Ray's kidnappers and commands him to take the week. She's pretty awesome.
"You've been early since we started dating," Leo says, "I'm sure your dedication helped."
Ray hums, unwilling to leave the bed. "Well, commute's easier."
"...you could make that permanent, you know."
Nevermind, Ray's up.
"Come again?"
Leo's eyes wander around him the way they do when he's nervous. "I gotta spare key. You spend so much time here already, and you keep telling me how much you hate your apartment."
Ray really does hate his apartment. His landlord is a jackass and everything breaks at least twice a day. Ray's pretty sure he could make a living as a repairman now.
"Plus, you could do a better job search. I know you like the daycare, but. You could put those computer skills to work, and Central's got plenty of opportunities. Would help if you lived here. And after...after last night, I realized―"
"Leo."
Leo finally looks at him.
Ray smiles, head tilting. "That's a great sales pitch, but if I'm gonna move in, it's because I want to live with you."
Leo smiles back.
In between kisses, Ray says, "I don't think I'll be able to offer much for rent, though."
"Well," Len says, "consider the offer revoked."
They laugh.
Then Ray sits on the bed. "...shit. I was kidnapped."
Leo's expression hardens. "It won't happen again."
"You don't know that, Leo. And I know what you're thinking. You're not gonna assign me a guard, either."
Leo glowers.
Ray sighs, gripping the edge of the mattress. "I don't want you to shoot anybody. If you killed because of me, I don't know if I could bear it."
Leo cups his face. "I can do a mean pistol-whip too. But Ray―if you're so sure about this, then next time it might not be a handful of citizens just wanting their voice to be heard."
Ray hugs his waist, burying his face in Leo's stomach. "I know."
"...if you don't want to―"
Ray snaps his head up. "I'm not leaving you because somebody stole me off the streets." Leo's shoulders relax. "I'm just. I'm scared, that's all."
Leo kisses him. "I wish you didn't have to be."
"Comes with the territory, I guess. Really, I should've seen it coming. You don't date the mayor without putting a target on your back."
Leo closes his eyes. He looks as haunted as before, when he'd talked about his dad.
Ray takes a deep breath. Fiddles with the hem of Leo's shirt. "But."
Leo opens his eyes.
Ray looks up at him. "But I can deal with that. You're worth it."
Leo's face crumples. Their next kiss tastes like salt.
"I'm gonna sign up for self-defense classes," Ray tells him.
Leo kisses him again. "That'd been my next question."

Breakfast (A Damien Haas Imagine)
Summary: Damien is secretly (although he is very bad at it) making everyone at Smosh Winter Games breakfast. You walk into the kitchen and try to convince yourself to confess to him.
Warnings: Food, Fluff
Words: 1,018 (oops)
CRASH
Your eyes slowly open at the startling sound.
Wait, had I really fallen asleep on the couch?
It was freezing, how had I managed to fall asleep?
The last thing you remember was helping strike cameras and softboxes for the day.
You have been working with Smosh for about a year now as lead property technician, which is just fancy talk for “handling all the props for the skits.” but you really helped wherever they needed it. Heck, you’ve already been in a few Game Bangs.
You slowly regain consciousness and stretch out your stiff muscles.
I guess I should check out that noise.
Honestly you just wanted to go back to sleep, but you decided if the noise was nothing you’d go back up to your room and actually sleep with a blanket this time.
You were at Big Bear filming Smosh Winter Games with the rest of the Smosh crew. This was the second Winter Games you’ve worked on and third overall Smosh seasonal games.
You groggily walked over to where you thought the noise came from.
You peered into the large, fancy kitchen to see someone holding a pan to his chest.
It was Damien.
Your longtime crush.
“Im so sorry (y/n)! Did I wake you?” Damien whispered, “I guess I’m really bad at keeping quiet.”
“Damien!” You laughed, immediately feeling more awake because of the adrenaline of seeing him. “It’s 4 am, what are you doing?”
“Well I guess I can tell you now because my cover is blown.” He smirked. That goddamn smirk.
Ever since Damien joined Smosh Games you had to force yourself from falling for him. Which worked for a little while, until you were put in position to produce his and Shayne’s new show.
You two started to get closer and closer until you knew you had fallen completely in love with him. But you never let it show. You were at work and you believed work and romance should stay separate.
Well…maybe this time can be an exception.
“I wanted to make breakfast for everyone since it’s the last day. But now you know my secret…so now you have to help me.” He teased.
You walked further into the kitchen. “You know I don’t cook.”
“Don’t or won’t?” He raised an eyebrow at you.
“Both.” You stared intensely at him.
“Too bad! I’m going to teach you.” He walked toward the cabinets and started rifling through them.
You groaned. “Fine.” You knew there was no escaping this situation.
The only person who knew about your crush was your best friend Mari.
She was the first one to notice. Your body language changed around him and your voice went slightly higher. But obviously Mari only noticed because she knew you so well.
She dragged you to the bathroom after an episode of Maricraft with Damien and the rest of Smosh Games.
“You never told me you liked Damien!” She hugged you.
“I…um, I what…?” You stammered. You hadn’t come to terms with it yet.
“Oh come on! I know you better than anyone else. Just admit it and I’ll leave you alone.”
You had to think for a second before you answered. You couldn’t lie, he was very handsome. You loved how protective he was and how he could turn a bad situation into a good one with one joke or a silly voice.
You sighed, “I guess…maybe I do.”
“Maybe? You were practically drooling all over him!” She almost yelled.
“Mari!” You covered her mouth.
~~~
“So what are you making?” You ask, walking closer to him to try and peer over his shoulder.
“What are WE making.” He replied sarcastically.
“Ugh, what are WE making…” you groan.
“Glad you asked. We are making french toast.”
“Is that all you can make?” I ask.
“Hey, at least I can make something.”
You shoot him a silly face. He replies with an even sillier one back.
You laugh. “Okay, okay, you win.”
It looks like he’s looking at a recipe on his phone.
“Could you get me the french toast bread in the pantry?”
“Aye, aye, captain.” You salute and rummage through the pantry until you find what you are looking for.
You place the bread on the table next to him. “What’s next?”
“Next…we beat together these eggs…”
He cracks two eggs over a bowl,
“This milk…”
he does the same, pouring a measured amount of milk into the bowl.
“And this vanilla extract.”
He pours the vanilla into a teaspoon and into the bowl.
He hands you a whisk. “Would you care to do the honors?”
“Only if I have to.” You reply sarcastically.
“That’s the spirit!”
You start to whisk the ingredients together.
“Yeah! You’re a pro!” Damien cheers.
“Don’t patronize me.” You said flatly.
“I wasn’t! I honestly couldn’t have done a better job myself.
You start to mix faster and faster, just to get the kicks out of Damien.
"I’m the best mixer alive!” You laugh.
You accidentally mix too fast and the bowl jolts out of your control. You manage to grab it, but some of the mix splashes on Damien.
You try to apologize, but you can’t stop laughing.
“Oh you think that’s funny? Well how about this?” He takes a step toward the sink and turns on the water. He sprays you with the faucet.
You get drenched in cold water. The only thing on your mind is revenge.
You run over toward the flower and grab a handful and throw it at Damien. He charges toward you and takes the flower out of your hands. He grabs another handful and throws it on you.
After about three minutes of war the kitchen is a mess. It looked like the roof had come off and it started to snow inside as well.
“Oh god, what have we done?” Damien laughed.
“Let’s finish breakfast and then we can clean up.” You suggested. God we looked like messes. We were both coated in flower and other various kitchen supplies.
“Right.” Damien said. He started to coat each piece of bread in the liquid.
~~~
“When are you finally gonna tell him? I can tell it’s eating you up inside.” Mari pressed.
“I know…it is, but it’s work! I’m supposed to be professional.” I sigh. I was sleeping over at Mari’s for the night, like I often do.
“Listen, honey. You will be able to do your job so much better once this weight is lifted off your chest.”
“Yeah, or every time I look at him I’ll be embarrassed and ruin a perfectly good friendship!”
“Just tell him! I know Damien. He won’t hold a grudge. If he doesn’t like you back, you will go back to being the same old friends.”
“…I guess you’re right. I just gotta wait for the right moment.”
“You’ll know when it’s time.”
~~~
You’ll know when it’s time.
I can’t stop thinking about what Mari said.
Something in my gut told me it was that time.
I looked over at him. I was now sitting on the countertop. I took a deep breath.
“Hey…Damien?” I asked.
“What’s up?” He replied, not looking back at me.
“Can I tell you something?”
“Yeah, totally.” He replied.
I can’t believe I’m doing this.
“So I just wanted to tell you…” I breathed.
CRASH
Damien accidentally knocked over the rest of the mixture onto the floor.
“Oh my god.” He put his hand on his face.
“I’m such an idiot. Could you go get the mop form the cupboard.”
“Oh…um yeah.” You stammered.
You went to go get the mop and brought it back to him.
“Thanks! Oh and what was it you wanted to tell me?” Damien looked up at me.
“Oh! Um I just wanted to say,” you took a deep breath, “I really-”
You felt your feet give out from under you. In your attempt to make your way to the other side of the kitchen, you slipped and fell on the eggy substance.
“(Y/n)!” He kept toward you, catching you seconds before your head hit the floor.
You were face to face.
You stayed there for more than you were comfortable with. He was looking into your eyes and you were looking into his.
“You said you… um really…?” Damien looked nervous.
“I…really…like you. Like, a lot.” You tried to shy away.
“Well that’s good because I’ve had a crush on you since the day I started working here.”
You smiled. You couldn’t believe it.
You still stood there looking eachother at eye level until he finally moved in to kiss you.
You both pulled away after several intense seconds of kissing.
“You taste like flour.” You giggle.
