Debunking the "The Jedi Are Evil" Theory Made by The Film Theorists PT 2
Point 2 - That Luke was Right in the Sequels
In the Sequels, Luke says this:
"Now that they're extinct, the Jedi are romanticized, deified...but if you strip away the myth and look at their deeds, the legacy of the Jedi is failure, hypocrisy, hubris."
And, after bringing this quote up, Matthew says this:
"While this kind of tea spill coming from Luke was considered pretty sacrilegious, both by other characters as well as the audience, I think that Luke has a point if you examine the movies with a little more scrutiny. His criticisms aren't exactly unfounded."
Now, first of all, what Luke is saying here cannot be trusted as "fact" or anything to go off of, mainly because of two reasons.
---
1. He's trying to convince Rey not to be a Jedi or, at the very least, to not make him train her (which is pretty much the same thing), and at this point in time he pretty clearly hates himself and blames himself for the state of the galaxy. He's been stewing in his rocky hideaway for who knows how long, with nothing but the ocean and his own self-loathing to keep him company.
He's saying this here so that Rey will give up and not make him train her, because he's scared of making the same mistakes he did with Kylo Ren and fucking up the galaxy even more (we see a similar thing with Obi-Wan in the Kenobi show, where he refuses to save Leia at first because he's scared of not being able to save her--like he wasn't able to "save" Anakin).
And the traits, the "legacy," he's assigning the Jedi...isn't actually the legacy of the Jedi. It's him assigning what he believes to be his own legacy to the Jedi as a whole, because it's easier for him to deal with his own failure that way.
and 2. Luke is framed as being wrong for saying this. None of the other characters agree with him, eventually he does end up training Rey, and eventually he lets go of his pain and fair and grief and "becomes a Jedi again" and faces his "legacy of failure"--Kylo Ren.
It's obvious that the movies are clearly making him out to be wrong when he says those things, you don't need to have a neon sign posted above his head that says "WRONG" in order to see it. So taking his words at face-value is just trying to take a bad-faith reading of the Jedi--rather than the "objective scrutiny" that Matthew is purportedly putting the Jedi up to in this theory.
---
I would also like to argue that Luke's only real knowledge of the Prequel Era Jedi and their actions/beliefs/traditions/etc. is...lacking, to say the least.
The Empire literally destroyed and desecrated every Jedi Temple that they could find, they wiped out all the information they could about the Jedi, and then spread anti-Jedi propaganda through the galaxy for years. Not to mention that, by this point, pretty much every Prequel Era Jedi is dead.
There's no one around to really tell Luke about the Jedi's actions or culture and what little information he might've been able to dig up probably wouldn't have amounted to much. So, when Luke says this, it can only really be taken as a commentary on the Post-Prequel Era Jedi, because he doesn't know enough about the Prequel Era Jedi to make any criticisms.
---
Matthew then says:
"There are certainly examples of the Jedi doing some pretty unsportsmanlike things to innocent victims throughout the old movies, like manipulating-" [plays a video cut of Obi-Wan in ANH, mind-tricking the stormtroopers into thinking that R2 and 3PO "aren't the droids they're looking for"]
This example is pretty easy to debunk, because Matthew leaves out the context.
Obi-Wan has to do this.
Because let's look at what would probably happen if he didn't:
1. He and Luke would be arrested and turned in to the Empire, probably Vader, and Vader would immediately recognize Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan would get murdered.
2. Vader would realize Luke was his son and probably try to indoctrinate him into an Imperial way of thinking, and Palpatine/Vader would probably have Luke "trained" (read: tortured) into becoming an Inquisitor.
and 3. The droids would probably either be memory wiped or destroyed, therefore destroying the plans for the Death Star that the Rebellion needed to destroy it--and the Death Star wouldn't be able to be destroyed, more planets and people would probably be killed.
Aside from the thing with the Death Star plans, Obi-Wan probably knows that that's what's gonna happen--and, if the Empire is looking for the droids, then it's pretty obvious that the droids are important to the Rebellion. So it wouldn't be a stretch to say that Obi-Wan probably understands that the Rebellion would be hurt by their loss.
Not to mention that stormtroopers aren't "innocent victims."
They actively sign up to work for the Empire and take part in the oppression of countless peoples and worlds. And It's not like Obi-Wan pulled aside a random stormtrooper just so he could mind-fuck him, they were approached by the troopers first and he reacted defensively. He didn't even make them do anything bad, he just told them "these aren't the droids you're looking for" and had them go on their way.
---
Matthew's quote, continued:
"-stealing spaceships and crashing them-" [cut to a video clip of Obi-Wan and Anakin in RotS, crashing the Separatist vessel they escaped on after rescuing the Chancellor]
Once again, this is pretty easy to debunk because, again, Matthew leaves out the context.
The Separatists literally kidnapped the Chancellor of the Republic and the Jedi had to rescue him. They had to steal the ship to escape or be captured, and likely executed, by the Separatists--therefore allowing the Separatists (who are literally enslaving and oppressing countless other systems and run by a fucking fascist dictator) to win the war and take over the rest of the galaxy.
Once again, the Jedi were acting defensively.
And I feel like, all things considered, the Jedi stealing that Separatist ship, to escape from a situation the Separatists caused, in order to keep the galaxy from falling into the hands of an oppressive dictatorship and attempt to stay alive...is a pretty damn reasonable decision, don't you think?
And, just for added context, the ship was literally falling apart when they crashed it. They didn't crash it on purpose, it was an emergency landing. If you're gonna say the Jedi are bad for "crashing" the ship, you may as well get mad at every pilot who ever initiated an emergency landing because it's literally the same thing--and if we're putting the Jedi up to "objective scrutiny" then there shouldn't be any double standards.
---
Matthew's quote, continued:
"-or just outright lying about their own powers-" [cut to a video clip of Mace and Yoda talking, where Mace says they should tell the Senate their ability to use the Force is diminished and Yoda saying they shouldn't because it will only multiply their adversaries]
Here the Jedi weren't lying, like...at all.
No one was asking them about their ability to use the Force, so they couldn't be lying. They were withholding information, information that the Senate--as non-Jedi--had no right to know about unless it would actively affect the Republic. Which, again, at this point in time it wouldn't.
But, fine, let's just pretend that the Jedi were lying...
...they were lying for good reason.
Yoda is right here. Even if we ignore the fact that Yoda is a stand-in for GL and what he says is quite literally the canon truth (since he's the creator), the Senate is already pretty at odds with the Jedi, which we see later in AotC when Palpatine and the Senate pretty much strong-arm the Jedi into accepting the role of Generals in the war, despite being told point blank by Mace Windu that they're peace keepers and not soldiers. Do you really think the Senate (read: Palpatine) wouldn't have used this information against the Jedi?
And, are you completely ignoring the fact that Mace is literally saying that they should tell the Senate and Yoda is disagreeing with him?
Obviously Yoda's take on what they should or shouldn't tell the Senate isn't something that the entire Order believes--it's just his opinion on what they should do.
You can't say that "the Jedi are liars" and then play a clip that literally debunks that by having two Jedi disagreeing with each other about whether or not to tell the truth.

i don't think you understand how hard i'd bang luke if he agreed to keep his jedi outfit on--preferably the one he wears in tbobf; so uhh how would he feel about clothed sex?
oh this is a definite yes for him I think! especially once he realizes that it gets you going! I personally have a soft spot for the farmboy fit and the yellow jacket at the end of anh and the flightsuit... honestly so many of his fits lol. so I totally get where you're coming from
all you'd have to say is "keep it on." his eyes might widen a little bit but the second that he processes that you just love the way he looks in whatever he's got on, he's so down to fuck you in it or do whatever you like. he's not adverse to the two of you just grinding against each other either, even though he gets pretty needy about it, clothed frottage is such a turn on for him I think he just falls apart lol
I think if he's clothed and you've got nothing on, that really makes him blush.

Pre ANH luke and reader hc’s??
YESSSS here they are! Pre ANH and ANH Luke is such a sweetheart, I love him so much🥲 thank you for your ask <3
However I'd appreciate a more polite wording for next time :(
• there are several ways you could have met Luke before he left for his adventures in ANH
• the most common I usually come across is of you growing up together and eventually developing feelings for each other
• that's also most likely in my opinion since there isn't exactly something like tourism on Tatooine
• or a market for good housing opportunities
• still, outside of this idea I have some more
• maybe, for whatever reason, you and your family come to live near where Luke does out of necessity
• I don't know what you would have to do to end up in that kind of situation but potentially you need a place to hide for some time, similarly to Obi-Wan
• I also could see you as part of a little smuggler crew making a stop for business and staying to watch some pod races
• I imagine those to be fun when you're not the one potentially dying
• but maybe you even want to participate yourself because you desperately need money or lost a bet
• maybe you've come looking for someone to get back at them because they still owe you money/information/etc.
• basically, you're either suffering a hard life or are a criminal, is what I'm saying
• (or both, not gonna lie)
• it's possibly for your relationship to be one of true feelings
• especially if you grew up together
• maybe though you've always just acknowledged each others presence and it turns into a simple and practical opportunity to discover your sexuality
• there is not much going on on your planet after all and I imagine you get to know all the people your age pretty fast
• (probably at Tosche station, where Luke picks up the famous power converters)
• so if you're lucky and there's a person you like, or think you could grow to like, better secure them before someone else snatches them away
• in that regard it doesn't matter if it's just for a friendship with the added bonus of occasionally fooling around or something actually romantic
• of course if you just got to know each other it could be love at first sight too
• or just as well a quick hook up somewhere in the desert
• (this could turn into more as well but doesn't need to, maybe you're both fine with casually making out and having sex with no feelings attached)
• for now I want to go down the "there are real feelings involved" route though
• I think it's really cute and fits ANH Luke well
• so imagine sweet teenage boy Luke with a crush on you
• whether you have realized what is going on depends on how often you actually see each other and how attentive you are
• either way I'm sure you will notice sooner or later though
• I said before that ANH Luke is not subtle whatsoever and I mean it
• he stares. A lot.
• he thinks he's so sneaky too, always averting his gaze as fast as he can when you turn your head towards his direction
• his blush will tell on him though
• while he is really tan I still believe he has the ability to turn as red as a tomato
• and you better believe his friends will tease him about it like crazy
• when he speaks to you he's so nervous and excited he's always talking too fast and stumbling over his words
• you feel horribly sorry when you have to ask him to repeat what he said because he looks so ashamed of himself then
• when you decide to iniate conversation first he will doubt for a moment that you really are talking to him, maybe even looking behind himself to check if there isn't someone else you could be speaking to
• he can't believe he got so lucky
• I imagine he has difficulty keeping eye contact at first, it makes his stomach feel funny and he doesn't know how to deal with it
• often his gaze will shoot up and lowers just as quickly again, obviously he doesn't want to miss seeing your face from up close
• he probably has lots of day dreams
• and you better believe you are playing a/THE major role in them too
• it starts with very innocent things like simply holding hands, you resting your head on his shoulder, kissing your cheek
• or your lips!!!
• OR his personal favorite, seeing your beautiful smile directed at him
• alternatively he thinks about marriage (he's a hopeless romantic) and having your own farm like his aunt and uncle do, growing old together
• at the same time he wants to leave Tatooine with you as soon as possible, to travel and explore the galaxy
• in the end he decides it doesn't really matter what your future will look like as long as you will be by his side
• there is absolutely no way he never stumbled across porn on the holonet though
• possibly he looked it up on purpose
• and suddenly he has an even harder time (lol) in your presence because he can't keep his mind off what you may look like naked
• no matter what he does, he can't get these thoughts out of his head
• he keeps wondering if your skin is as soft and smooth as it looks
• if your hair tickles
• how you smell
• he wants to explore every part of you
• you aren't necessarily his sexual awakening but maybe the first person he seriously wants to share more intimate moments with
• to his dismay he keeps having wet dreams and waking up hard in the morning
• I see him feeling kind of guilty
• like he took something from you without your knowledge
• he'll probably talk to Biggs about it because he's so upset
• OR, bless him, he'll confess to you
• I genuinely believe he'd apologize for something like this

in celebration of this blog’s first month, my first proper luke/andrie fic! the majority of this is set about a year after anh…except for the last paragraph. the quote about jewels and fire is lifted from the film the ten commandments. some kissing and swearing, but otherwise safe for work.
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses
For the longest time, Luke isn’t sure how to describe the color of Andrie’s eyes.
“They’re blue, aren’t they? Same as yours,” most people would shrug. But they aren’t the same, Luke would protest. Andrie’s eyes are a few shades darker, contain depths his never have. When they pin him in exasperation, he withers; when they light on him in affection, he’s fit to burst. He could stare into them all day and never tire of their shifting hues. And yet, when he ponders what they might be compared to, he comes up short.
Andrie has no such conflict. “You know what your eyes remind me of?” she tells him once as they hike through the pine forest on Krant. “The sky on Tatooine.” (She doesn’t say “back home.” That place was never truly home to either of them.) “A clear, cloudless day, where you can see all the way to the horizon.” Ducking her head in embarrassment, she snorts. “I’m sorry. That was awfully poetic of me.”
Luke doesn’t remember what lead to him asking her this-or if he even asked in the first place. What sticks with him is the pleasant flush spreading over his face and neck, the astonished realization that someone had cared enough to make that comparison. It sets him on a quest: to find an adjective worthy of Andrie’s eyes, the pair he has grown to care for more than any in the galaxy.
He dismisses the sky right away-mostly Tatooine’s. Where Andrie sees an expanse of beauty and endless possibilities, he sees only emptiness. If he concentrates, he can still conjure the bitter taste of envy on his tongue as he squinted against the twin suns, longing for a way off that desolate rock and into the stars. He would never want to associate his sweet girl with that.
Could her eyes be like a gemstone? Luke ruminates on this during a mission to Corellia, when he catches sight of a star sapphire glittering on a woman’s necklace. Certainly the color is right, and the way the facets reflect the lights of Coronet City are striking; the image of Andrie leaping into his arms after the Battle of Yavin, whooping for joy as unshed tears gleamed behind her lashes, suddenly surfaces. But this too he rejects. A jewel has brilliant fire, but it gives no warmth. Andrie radiates warmth in spades: her temper, yes, but her determination too, and her loyalty. And most of all, her love.
His father’s lightsaber blade is blue…could that be the answer? In its own way, the Jedi weapon is as precious to Luke as Andrie is: a link to his past and a key to his future. The lightsaber can destroy (he’d seen that firsthand), but it can also protect. In their brief time together, old Ben had described blue sabers as representing justice and bravery, and who is Andrie if not one of the bravest people he knows? Still, even this metaphor doesn’t ring true. He hefts the hilt in his palm and admits he can’t associate the girl he loves with a possession, even one as meaningful as this. So he keeps searching…
And finds nothing. And nothing, and nothing again, amid the fleeing for their lives and fierce bursts of combat with the Imperials. Perhaps he never will.
But as they say, when the Force closes a blast shield it opens a view port.
“Easy, kids. You smear that up, you’re cleanin’ it,” Han drawls as the Falcon makes its approach through the low-hanging clouds of Manaan. Sitting behind the pilot’s chair, Leia smiles at Luke and Andrie pressed against the cockpit glass. Their eyes are wide, mouths agape, as they behold the first ocean they’ve ever seen outside of staticky holovids.
“Majestic, isn’t it?” the princess asks her friends. “Once we’ve landed and set up camp, we should head to the beach. You ought to see it up close.”
As usual, Leia’s words prove wise. No sooner have the tents been pitched than the children of the desert follow her to the shore (Han declines, being of the opinion that if you’ve seen one ocean you’ve seen them all)…and are stunned speechless by the vast, rolling water before them.
After a few moments, Andrie finds the appropriate sentiment. “Shit,” she whispers, the breeze tugging a few strands of hair free from her braided bun. “It’s so…big.”
“Yeah,” Luke agrees lamely, brain attempting to grasp just how big it probably is. He reaches out with the Force and senses the life teeming within, the fish and plants, all untamed and vital. He wishes Andrie would open up her own connection and feel it too.
Leia, meanwhile, has already pulled off her boots and socks and is currently rolling her uniform pants to her knees. “Come on, we’ll wade in a little,” she says, then laughs at the slight panic on their faces. “I didn’t say we were swimming-I know neither of you are comfortable with that yet. We’ll stay in the shallows. All right?”
Still a bit uneasy, the pair nonetheless copy her motions and soon three sets of feet are bathed in Manaan’s surprisingly chilly ocean. Andrie shrieks a bit when the foam first touches her and Luke can’t suppress a body-wide shiver. It feels…strange. But good-strange, like trying a delicious alien cuisine. The air is laden with salt, as is the spray misting their faces. Birds cry in the distance. In a steady push-pull the flow curls around their ankles and drifts back, then surges forward again. Leia wanders out to her knees, reaching down to touch the water. “Feels nice,” she calls back. “You two okay?”
“It’s not so bad once you get used to it,” Luke replies with a measure of confidence. “I think I like the ocean.”
“Andrie?”
“You weren’t lying. It is majestic,” the other woman accepts, hugging her arms around her torso. “Could do without it being so damn cold, though. If I lose any toes in here I’m blaming you.”
They all share a laugh at that, enjoying each other’s company and this fleeting relaxation before they search for the missing Rebel scouts. Luke turns to look at Andrie as the giggles die down, and she boldly stares back at him, a playful grin stretching her mouth. She pushes back the wayward hair from her eyes-
And it hits him like a herd of bantha. That’s it. That’s what her eyes evoke: the sea. Not just the deep blue, but the turbulence, the ripples of life, the complete refusal to be controlled by anyone or anything. She can tear you apart in her fury, or calm you in her embrace. Of course. The sea.
“I figured it out!” he announces excitedly as he splashes over to her.
Andrie quirks an eyebrow. “I already told you, Luke, I don’t want Jedi lessons-“
“No! No, this is different. Your eyes, I know what they remind me of now.”
“What the hell are you-”
“They’re the ocean, Andrie,” he goes on with a grin. “They’re-they’re wild and stormy, but they’re gentle too, and-I know this sounds ridiculous, but I’ve been trying to come up with something since you told me mine were like the sky and…this is it.”
Andrie studies Luke, biting her lower lip. “You’ve been thinking about this a while, huh?”
He nods, a little self-conscious about his enthusiasm now. The tide of her gaze runs almost midnight blue and he wonders what it might be like to drown in it.
A kiss, soft as the sandy beach at their backs, lands on his cheek. She hums contentedly as she pulls away and remarks, “That just might be the nicest thing anyone’s ever said to me.”
“You mean it?” he questions, arms snaking around her waist to draw her closer.
“I’m a Mykarrah. We only say what we mean, starboy.” Tapping the tip of his nose with her finger, Andrie amends, “Or I do, anyway.”
“Well,” Luke remarks slyly, “there’s only one Skywalker, but he says what he means too.”
“Such as?”
“You’re beautiful.”
A roll of her lovely eyes. “As beautiful as the sea?”
“Even more than that.”
“You flatter me, Skywalker.”
“You don’t seem to mind,” he murmurs, nuzzling against her temple. A little sigh escapes her and her grip on him tightens. He smiles, just knowing Leia is shaking her head fondly at their display. “I love you, Andrie.”
“You and me, Luke,” she promises him in a hush. It isn’t the first time or the last, and he readily completes the other half of their little creed.
“Down the line.” He kisses her on the mouth this time, the sky meeting the waves. Despite the salt water on her lips, nothing in the galaxy tastes as sweet.
~~
Many years later, he stands on the weathered cliffs of Temple Island and gazes at Ahch-To’s restless sea. How fitting for the misery of exile, he thinks, to be surrounded by this evocation of her. To be constantly reminded of all the terrible ways he’s hurt her, of the potent final cruelty of leaving her behind. He will never be free of her anger and despair the rest of his days, buried there in the blue.
It’s what he deserves.

Hey Lumi, I have a tiny itty bitty silly question. I am ashamed to admit this (there is no anon option so I have to attach my face here and I’m crying) but all the Star Wars media I’ve been consuming so far is in the form of movies/tv shows/games and fanfiction.
I know, I know. It’s horrible, I should have went straight for the good sources a.k.a comics and books the way I did with Marvel/DC. It’s just that when it comes to Star Wars I have no idea where to start from and I get overwhelmed … Does that makes sense? I guess what I’m trying to ask is… where do I start from?
Because I wanna know EVERYTHING but I wanna read the proper works and not wookieepedia. And I can’t ask my best friend, she will absolutely laugh at me if she has to make me another list with titles to read or important pop culture things to see. You are my only hope.
Tumblr media
Hi! First of all, I am firmly of the opinion that Star Wars generally works best when watched in priority + chronological release order, because the way Star Wars stories often work is that they assume you've seen/read the previous thing to base your current understanding off the other story, even if it's set as a backstory. For example, a lot of people suggest watching the prequels then the originals and I think that undercuts a lot of what you're meant to get out of the story. You're meant to know Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader, that's a huge part of watching the prequels. You're meant to know that Palpatine is going to become the Emperor, there are all these little comments about future plans, you're meant to know what the Death Star is, so when you see the plans on Geonosis, you understand the gravity of what's happening here. This also applies to reading supplementary material, because the books and comics assume you've watched the movies and the TV shows first, often times your understanding of them is based on that knowledge. So, you're doing things right so far! And that's why I usually suggest, whatever you're looking to get into, whatever you're interested in reading, do it in order of release, because a lot of stories assume you've seen/read the stuff that's already released. The second issue is a bit more of a "It depends on what you're interested in!" one because, well, it depends on what you're interested in! XD If you're coming to me, generally, I'm going to assume you're interested in the prequels characters and my list of Must Read materials will cater to that. (I do have a more well-rounded list here, it's a bit old at this point, but honestly I wouldn't say any of the current books have been must reads in awhile, aside from maybe the Thrawn and Alphabet Squadron books. This is slightly more up to date, but has a lot of the same suggestions. XD) My recommendations are: - Darth Vader (2015 - Kieron Gillen) + Star Wars (2015 - Jason Aaron) - These two series are meant to be read concurrently for at least the first six issues, read issue #1 of SW, then issue #1 of DV, then issue #2 of SW, then issue #2 of DV, etc.  They’re events crossing over into each other and are meant to be seen from different perspectives at the same time and it’s still one of the best series the Star Wars comics have had in Lucasfilm canon!  Gillen’s Vader is more the mystical, unknowable nightmare version of Darth Vader and he does an excellent job of getting into that space with the character.  Aaron also writes the original trio really well and it fills in a lot of the gabs just post-ANH so well, this is a great starting place for reading comics.  You get to see Vader’s moment of realization of who Luke Skywalker is and it’s one of the best comic moments in all of the franchise. - Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith (2017 - Charles Soule) - As tempting as it might be to read them in chronological order, I still think release order works better, and this one is set just after Revenge of the Sith and it’s all about digging into the psychology of Anakin Skywalker choosing to be Darth Vader.  Choosing it over and over and over.  This Vader is INCREDIBLY extra, but underneath the hilarious dramatic antics of this series (HE IS SUCH A DRAMATIC ASSHOLE IN THIS SERIES, IT’S SO FUNNY), there’s genuinely a story that looks at how afraid Anakin was to face his own choices, how Vader’s issues are Anakin Skywalker’s issues, how he goes from Anakin to the Vader we know in the OT. This is still my favorite piece of SW supplementary media, but I may be biased. - Shattered Empire (Greg Rucka) - This is a four-issue mini series that’s basically 100% pure connective tissue between the aftermath of Return of the Jedi and where things were headed to in the future.  The entire point is to show a variety of characters and nothing but focusing on the aftermath, rather than too much of a plot-focus.  Which makes it really satisfying, because it’s finally some breathing room for the characters--plus, it has stunning artwork to go with it. - Princess Leia (Mark Waid) - More aftermath, this time focused on Leia’s character in the days after A New Hope and the destruction of Alderaan.  It includes her going to Naboo (though, she can’t figure out too much, of course, there’s some lovely nods to the Force whispering in her ear) and trying to figure out how to be a princess of a world that’s in ashes, and it’s a lovely look at her character. - Obi-Wan & Anakin (Charles Soule) - A five issue mini series set between The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones and when I first inhaled it, it seemed like a bit of a filler adventure, until I went back to really pay attention the second time and suddenly all these connections and all this groundwork was being laid for understanding where each of these characters was coming from.  It’s a fantastic look at Anakin’s doubts about being a Jedi, that he’s planning on leaving, Obi-Wan’s interactions with him over that, and why Anakin ultimately makes the choice to stay, along with so much of Palpatine laying down groundwork to undercut everything the Jedi are helping to teach Anakin.  Add in the most gorgeous artwork you’ve seen, and it’s a hell of a read. - Poe Dameron (Charles Soule) - I really did not expect to love this comic as much as I did, but it’s incredibly good character work for him (the absolute best Poe-related material) and it does a ton to set up and flesh out the story of the sequels (in as much as anything can) and it’s just very, very easy to settle in with and read.  It’s got great pacing and a great plot and was really, really addicting to read. - Age of Republic (Jody Houser) - There are eight issues in this maxi series (and you can go on to read the Age of Rebellion and Age of Resistance comics, they’re in the same format--four issues about heroes, four issues about villains) and they tell stories of various characters and they’re all really solidly good.  My favorite is the Obi-Wan one, it’s another great look at his relationship with Anakin, though, the Anakin one had some great character stuff and the Maul one got me in the feelings place. - Jedi of the Republic: Mace Windu (Matt Owens) - Heads up about this one, the art style is wonky as hell, including some real nightmare fuel Yoda moments, so you gotta power through that aspect of this mini series.  Once you do, though, it’s a stellar look at Mace Windu’s character!  It’s not necessarily plot-heavy, but the chance to understand more of Mace’s mindset, the incredible Jedi he is, the good man he is, how hard he worked to become the person he is currently, all of that was excellent. - Star Wars Adventures - The series started in 2017 and then was rebooted in 2020, all of them are very worth reading!  They’re aimed at a younger audience, so you’re not going to get too much darkness in any of the stories, but that doesn’t hold them back from being some of the best Star Wars comics.  They’re all little stand-alone stories with characters from all across the three trilogies and you’ll get some wonderful stuff, like Luke and Leia on Naboo, Anakin and Padme going to see a play, baby Leia being told about Padme by Breha, Mace Windu rescuing a young Twi’lek child and giving her a pep talk, Rose Tico having adventures, Obi-Wan and Dex having an adventure, etc.  They’re adorable and super fun! - Kanan (Greg Weisman) - While parts of this have been a bit overwritten by The Bad Batch (to the detriment of the story, this version is so much stronger), the Kanan mini series is absolutely stellar for understanding the character, getting to see the prequels Jedi from the perspective of the Padawans, instead of just the Knights, and getting some great worldbuliding and character work.  It’s split between Kanan’s time in his present with the backstory of what happened to him after the Jedi genocide and it’s brutally heartbreaking in all the right places, hopeful in all the other right places, and the artwork is just stunning. - The Clone Wars - Battle Tales (Michael Moreci) - This is in the same vein as the Adventures comics (and may even be under that label?) so it’s pretty light-hearted but it has some absolutely baller comic moments for the clones and the Jedi.  It’s a quick read, but you’ll have a scream of a time doing it! Books are a more complicated issue, because a lot of the Star Wars books have moments of great quotes, but overall aren’t great stories, in part because they can’t do character work in the same way comics can and all the really good stories are being saved for potential TV series, I suspect.  But two books I always recommend starting with are Matthew Stover’s Revenge of the Sith novelization (nobody has ever come close to the heights that book has achieved) and Star Wars: Propaganda by Pablo Hidalgo, which is an in-universe look at the entire timeline (such as it was at the time) and how art and propaganda shaped things and, oh, it’s so good. Other than that, I like the Thrawn books, the Ahsoka book was solid, Bloodline did a lot of character work for Leia in the sequels, the Aftermath trilogy is one I really love but I personally think you almost have to listen to the audiobook versions because the text versions just bored me while the audio versions gripped me, Dark Lords of the Sith by Paul S. Kemple is more “Vader being Vader” goodness, Resistance Reborn was probably the best sequels book for me, I legitimately enjoyed Phasma a ton but given how her character just kind of fizzled out in the movies, I’m not sure how it would stand up without the excitement around her character, and I enjoyed Catalyst a lot, but I’m a sucker for a book that does connective tissue stuff between the prequels and the originals. I also highly recommend looking up “movie” versions of the Battlefront II storyline and the Jedi: Fallen Order storyline on YouTube, both are excellent stories if you’re not into playing the video games yourself.  You won’t get the full experience (you get much more invested when you spend a bunch of hours running around as your character, after all XD) but they will tell you the stories and they’re both very good and you’ll see connections pop up fairly often.  I also loved the Vader Immortal storyline, but because it’s a VR storyline, you’ll probably only find shaky footage of it and that may hit your motion sickness.  Still totally worth it even though I almost (literally) threw up trying to watch Vader be an asshole. That’s a lot to dump on you all at once, but I promise the stuff goes quicker than you’ll realize and this will give you a very solid foundation of having read the good stuff in Star Wars franchise!

*clears throat and leans into mic* Bingo.
Welcome to my first @codywankissbingo fill, presented here MUCH earlier than the collection week because I have no self control.
Fic's a spicy romp between TCW and ANH, featuring established relationship codywan (this is never explained, I don't know what happened, just roll with it). Technically it isn't AU until they tell us it's AU 🤣Also I would like to stress that I was peer pressured into this by @galateagalvanized and @goddammitjim, so you can blame them. ❤️
Thank you also to @glimmerglanger and @asukaskerian for the beta, I love you both.
It does feature some sex pollen, and I was not kidding about EXPLICIT, so mind the tags and your spice tolerance, friends. Find like thunder under earth here!
Deets for the ao3 post under the cut. Bingo card in the reblog in the hopes it will LET ME POST IN THE TAGS.
Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Star Wars - All Media Types, Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) - All Media Types Rating: Explicit Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: CC-2224 | Cody/Obi-Wan Kenobi Characters: CC-2224 | Cody, Obi-Wan Kenobi Additional Tags: Post-Order 66 (Star Wars), Established Relationship, Sex Pollen, Enthusiastic Messy Sex, very much a pwp, codywankissbingo2022 Summary:
Obi-Wan still smells like that tea he drinks, Cody thinks, like something green and vaguely spicy, different from the green smell all around them, clogging every pore and weighing down every breath. Cody blinks and realizes he hasn’t yet released Obi-Wan’s wrist, squints down through the gloom at his messy fingers curled around dirty pale skin. He can feel Obi-Wan’s pulse, pounding against his palm, fast as Cody’s own, and Cody thinks of lifting Obi-Wan’s wrist and pressing his lips to the beat instead, feeling it against his tongue—
Obi-Wan’s breath hitches next to him, and Cody falls abruptly back into his own head, heart still pounding too hard—for too long now—body warming where he’s pressed to Obi-Wan—warming too much, and they’re in a life or death situation right now, they—what—
“Something’s—” he starts, and Obi-Wan breathes in slowly, and then out again.
“Yes,” he says, and their eyes meet in the darkness.
ETA: Third time's the dang charm! Please show up in the tags.
ETA2: No I'm serious.
ETA3: COME ON.

Ok I have 3 for you now that Mando is back but only do the ones that interest you:
1) top 5 dinluke moments that live only inside your head
2) top 5 din and grogu father-son moments
3) top 5 choices made by filoni and favreau across shows that make you want to Kill
you fool!! you absolute silly goose!!! i am answering all of them <3
top 5 dinluke moments that live only inside my head:
these are all just concepts for scenarios/whole ass fics that i'm currently turning over in my brain like a rotisserie chicken that i may or may not actually write someday lmao. dinluke is beginning to overtake my brain again like a parasite so i rambled a lot. sorry 🤡
the original trilogy au where din and luke meet on tatooine just before anh and when din is still relatively new to being a hunter, and they spend maybe a few weeks hanging out together and there's something there but nothing ever comes of it before din has to leave. and by the time they finally meet again a few years later, luke has become the hero that blew up the death star and din is essentially just a freelancer working odd jobs for the rebels sometimes and is convinced luke won't remember him but he does!! and as they become more entangled luke makes it his mission to convince din to formally join the rebellion but din keeps refusing because his first responsibility is to his covert and they keep getting pulled in opposite directions by duty :))))
force sensitive din au in which din has repressed his connection to the force since he was a kid and went through the trauma of watching his parents die but it forces itself to the surface in a situation in which he needs it to protect his son (because i adore parallels and i will drag this father-son dynamic into everything wherever possible). and now he's saddled with being a father to a little force sensitive powerhouse while dealing with his own abilities that he had buried down so deep that he forgot they even existed and it feels uncontrollable and unbearable and loud and luke teaches him to quiet his mind and train his abilities. when the Just Some Guy is suddenly overcome with an immense amount of power and has to figure out how to deal with it. <3333
din gets a bounty with just a vague description and a location and he gets there and realizes THAT'S MY HUSBAND so he obviously doesn't follow through but he very quickly realizes that half the other bounty hunters in the galaxy are ALSO after luke. so he spends the next little while batting away bounty hunters with a stick while also just trying to pay them off (which doesn't really work because, as always, he is flat broke) or negotiate because he knows most of these people through ✨networking✨ and he doesn't want to cause tension in the workplace by murdering his colleagues. and perhaps luke is mostly oblivious to all this, but i think he knows exactly what's going on and is just watching it all go down because it's extremely funny and he could easily take care of himself.
din (and possibly also grogu, but one thing at a time here) dies in the destruction of luke's jedi academy and he's toeing the line of the dark side to resurrect his husband from the dead. and he needs to navigate the world between worlds to get him back so he recruits ahsoka who has spent time there before but she's like absolutely the fuck not!! i've seen where this path leads, please stop. but luke, who is the force's favourite little guy, says fine i'll do it myself then. :) and....... idk i have some ideas of where this could go but i don't want to spoil anything. <3
din and luke are getting married and anakin (who maybe never fell to the dark side in the first place or.... something) is very unimpressed with this guy and din and anakin are going at it like jane fonda and jennifer lopez in monster in law because din dislikes anakin in every universe and this is a non-negotiable fact thank you. :)
the rest of these are going under a read more because this post is so fucking long dude 💀
top 5 din and grogu father-son moments:
chapter 15 the believer aka the best episode when din takes off his helmet in front of a bunch of imperials in the first instance of showing his face to any (living) being since he was a child and absolutely none of them can even begin to understand the significance of it. grogu obviously isn't even in the scene but din did that for his son so it counts. sickening i'm gonna be SICK.
the whole sequence when din goes back for grogu after delivering him to the imperials in chapter 3, but especially when they're surrounded and din is looking down at the baby bundled in his arms and knows they're both about to die. but i think he's at peace with his decision. and later when they're back on the razor crest and din gives grogu the ball he had just taken away from him at the beginning of the episode. that's growth, baby. clawing at the walls about it. din djarin you are a father now.
the entirety of chapter 10 the passenger. i don't care how many people want to complain about that episode being "filler," it is perhaps THE father-son episode of the show and one of my favourites of the season. just an entire episode of din being the World's Worst Uber Driver and grogu getting into Predicaments that his dad has to fix. it also gets a high rating on account of grogu's little baby run to his dad at the beginning of the episode. Kill Me.
chapter 4 sanctuary when din is contemplating leaving grogu on sorgan while watching him play with the village children and then when he's asking while not outright asking omera to take him in. the voice cracks. fuck you fuck you fuck you fu-
their goodbye in the s2 finale like I HATE that he showed his face for no reason don't get me wrong but the kid seeing his dad's face for the first time? if they had just fucking left the room to say their goodbyes and if that moment had just been for them as it should have been? SICKENING!!!!!!!
some honorable mentions include:
din trying to teach his son mechanics (badly, with osha violations)
din saying grogu's name repeatedly after finally learning it just because the kid's reaction is cute 😭
din holding grogu while he sleeps when he thinks grogu is going to stay with ahsoka 🥺
"this is the seeing stone, are you seeing anything??"
grogu holding his dad's boot while he's dying of a head wound in the s1 finale <3
top 5 choices made by filoni and favreau that make me want to Kill:
(i could literally name 5 from the past week. every day favriloni come up with new and exciting ways to piss me off)
ending season two of the mandalorian with din and grogu being separated, a massive event for the show, only to then have them reunite almost immediately and barely making an attempt to first explore what they were like and how they were feeling during their time apart and doing so ON A DIFFERENT SHOW. i will not elaborate. it's been done to death already. i want to Kill.
the mcuification of star wars is real and it is terrifying. every day i live in fear of cameos of beloved characters who have no reason to appear except to advertise their upcoming disney show and are completely out of character. i want to Kill.
din taking off his helmet in front of a bunch of people for absolutely no reason. it was so unnecessary. they could have at least gone to another room to say their goodbyes. i want to Kill.
literally everything they've done with live action ahsoka. who the FUCK is that? hashtag not my ahsoka. i want to Kill.
this one is a filoni specific crime. why do the clones look like that in tcw. do you genuinely think that's what temuera morrison looks like. i demand BLOOD!!!!!

Reva and Leia’s relationship in the post-ROTJ AU where Reva became Luke’s primary Master after ANH really speaks to me in just how complicated it might be.
Because obviously Leia’s going to have some difficult memories of Reva, Reva capturing her, Reva interrogating her, Reva nearly torturing her, Reva hunting them down. And I don’t think that Leia’s feelings about that, even over a decade later, are going to have entirely diminished.
But Reva’s also clearly fully aligned with the Rebellion/New Republic now, she taught Luke for several years and was completely loyal to him, she fought the Empire, fought the Sith. She’s very very clearly a changed person. And Leia can see that, and can respect all of the work Reva’s putting in to make amends for her actions back then.
So by the end of ROTJ, Leia and Reva have probably managed a civil relationship, they respect each other but maybe aren’t SUPER close.
And then Anakin becomes a Force Ghost and Ahsoka comes back and everyone around Leia seems to have just decided to forgive Anakin everything he’s done and seems to think he’s the best thing since sliced bread and don’t care anymore.
Everyone but Reva.
If Luke is speaking to Anakin’s ghost, Reva either gets up and leaves or is just nowhere to be found. If Luke tries to discuss Anakin or something he has learned from him or something, Reva refuses to respond or participate in the conversation, or she’ll also just get up and leave.
Leia maybe seeks her out one of those times she walks away and finds her trying to meditate somewhere and sits by her. Reva tells Leia all about what happened to her, and Leia suddenly realizes that, of everyone she knows, Reva might be the only one who truly understands exactly what Anakin did to her and the feelings she has about it.
Leia tells Reva that if she wants, she can talk about the Jedi. She can tell Leia all about her fallen family, her friends, her mentors. She can tell Leia what she remembers about the Jedi Temple, their art and gardens, their philosophies and teaching, their games. And in return, all Leia asks is that she be able to talk about Bail and Breha Organa, the woods by the palace, the handmaidens and the little girl who would help pretend to be her so she could run away from boring responsibilities and odious cousins, the art, the braiding, the music.
Luke’s become a Jedi Knight now, he no longer needs what training Reva can give him, and Leia’s not necessarily interested in being a full-blown Jedi, but she knows she has the Force and she wants to know how to use it, so she asks Reva to teach her.

"Are you hurt?" Lucy & Luke?
I love them dearly 🥰 and Astra snuck her way in too, since this is between ANH and ESB:
"Lucy!"
Lucy groaned at the voice, faint and echo-y, as if it was coming from far away.
"Lu, come on...open your eyes for me at least!"
Slowly, she peeled her eyes open, faced with the relieved sigh of her brother as he squeezed her hand tightly. "Thank the Force. Are you hurt?"
She hadn't even realized it, but her head was in fact throbbing, and she winced at the feeling. "Where's...?"
"Right here." Astra squeezed her other hand, appearing in her line of sight. "Had to report to Leia...she says she wants to talk to you later, by the way, Lu."
Lucy groaned. Great. Luke mother-henning her was at least expected, but Leia doing it too...it was unnecessary, but Lucy figured Leia would be as unyielding about it as Luke.
Lucy still preferred being the mother hen herself, though.
Luke frowned. "Either of you mind telling me what happened?"
Lucy and Astra blushed as they met each other's eyes. What happened was certainly an interesting question. "We may have gotten a bit...overzealous."
"What she means," Astra said, grinning, "is that she thought she could outfly me."
"Other way around!" Lucy protested.
"I still won anyway, so does it matter?"
"Of course it matters! It was your idea!"
Luke groaned. "The two of you, I swear..."
prompt list!

JUST FINISHED JEDI SURVIVOR…….
short review (but spoilers obvs!) below the cut :-)
Okay my two complaints about JFO were (1) the game was too short, and (2) I missed being able to make choices. Oh boy did this game correct qualm number one! And oh boy did this game go in the wrong direction for number two.
Things I liked: the settings, the music, the new characters! And despite some of my complaints with the story, there were long portions that were so… star wars? If that makes sense. Like playing the game gave me the same feeling as when I play kotor or watch anh or rebels! Like it was just so good in that classic, earnest, adventure-y, quintessentially star wars way. I LOVED Cal going dark side a little—I do wish that had been expanded upon more, but it came at such a perfect point in the story, and was well executed, when it happened.
Things I didn’t like: I realize that this game is not an rpg but the fact that I had NO control over the story was frustrating. And, realistically, I just need to get over it and accept that the story is what it is, and it will never be the game I want, but still! Especially when this game had Cal flirt with the dark side so late in the game, I think it would’ve been the perfect opportunity to add a little rpg-quality, and let you, as the player, figure out how/when/whether to come back to the light. And the NUMBER ONE thing I couldn’t stand not having control over was the romance!!! I HATE cal/merrin. I really do. And the fact that not only it happened but also it was ~*important~* to the story really frustrated me. You should’ve been able to say “no thank you!” to the whole thing. And what kills me is that I wouldn’t have said I disliked them after JFO! But the way it was done in this game was so…. standardly heterosexual? Like, she’s a girl and he’s a boy. So now they’re going to kiss. There was no lead up! Nothing that made you want it to happen! Gross.
Oh, and speaking of things with no lead up. Bode is easily one of my top ten favorite star wars characters now! So I’m biased, but I think there was something really weird about the ending? Like, I thought his initial betrayal was perfect—shocking, but there had been just enough lead up to make it believable. But the end? Where he wouldn’t step down against Cal? That was weird, and I didn’t think the story had done enough to sell him as crazy or delusional, which he apparently was by the end of the game. Like, he had been single-mindedly focused on being there for Kata, but then he goads Cal into killing him? And, going back to my wish that this game were an rpg, I wish you could’ve had the choice to spare Bode. The ending was very…. not Jedi, and to go from that to Cal seeing Cere’s force ghost was like. A weird transition. And why was Kata, like, 100% okay with her dad dying? IDK, there was something really off about the ending to me.
Okay, one last complaint/one last peek into my psyche. Before the game came out, I saw a review that mentioned Cal meeting new people, some of whom seemed like romance options. The article used plural words and no pronouns. And I fell for it!! I thought you’d maybe be able to be gay in this game. How silly of me! I’m mad at myself for feeling let down about that, because obviously star wars will never let there be gay characters! So I’m annoyed with myself, and annoyed with this game, and god. I just really think you should’ve been able to romance Bode. The end

"He is my own"
I am so glad Kenobi showed some of the Skywalker-Lars family. I first watched ANH when I was 7, and when I was that young, I genuinely thought Owen didn't like Luke. And Beru didn't seem that motherly to Luke either. I thought they were both detached to Luke. It was a kid thing. Owen and Beru raised Luke, but he still called them aunt and uncle not mom and dad. Owen and Luke were arguing, Owen said there'd be hell to pay if Luke didn't do what he wanted, etc.
But now I'm 24, so I see it differently. Maybe they didn't feel comfortable with mom and dad, but that doesn't make them any less Luke's mom and dad. The ones who were up during his teething nights, the ones he took his first steps to, the ones he ran home from school to to tell about his day, the ones who protected him from every terror of the planet and screamed when he disappeared.
Luke wants to get off the planet, follow his friends, explore. But he was still a farmer's son. And the farm needed help, which left Owen in a bad spot, and not all parents make the best choice in their son's eyes. Especially when you have a son like Luke, who needs to be protected and kept safe. But at some point, you have to let go. At some point, almost every parent and child argues. And that doesn't mean they don't love each other, that one is a lifelong burden. It's just part of having a nineteen-year-old trapped on a farm, dreaming of the stars.
So I'm so happy for that scene where Owen takes Luke to the shop with a hand on his shoulder to get a new belt for their speeder because Luke broke it.
For the way Beru has spent years planning for this day. For the way Luke knows to run-in case of Tuskens but at least Beru knew one day it might be the Empire-coming for her son. Their son.
The way Owen knelt down to talk at Luke's level and how tightly Beru hugged him. The fear on their faces when Reva appeared holding Luke.
The way Owen clutched Luke's body to his chest as he left. How Reva said Owen loved him like his own and Owen corrected her, Luke IS his own.
Just as Leia is Bail Organa's daughter, Luke is Owen Lars' son. It took me too long to realize that truly?

Endor luke has me going insane so if you could can we please get some hc’s? 💗
YOU AND ME BOTH ANON Endor Luke deserves all the love in the world😭
I really had a lot to say too, so this is kinda all over the place, I'm sorry
(thank you so much for your patience🩵 work really took a toll on me and I desperately needed to take several naps instead of writing. I really wish I could post Luke thoughts as a living instead)
• I really like how Luke is portrayed in RotJ and how far he has come when you compare him to the boy he was at the beginning of ANH
• I think how he acts and carries himself on Endor is a very good example
• we already got a glimpse of it in Jabba's palace when he comes to save his friends
• but Endor Luke is peak Luke (or as close to his prime we've ever got to see him aside from his last fight with Vader and TboBF) and I love how this comes across in very simple and subliminal ways without being too flashy or over the top
• he still makes mistakes
• he struggles with himself and those around him
• he's far from being perfect
• and yet he tries so hard to leave his doubts aside to act in everyone's best interest
• in the most dire of situations he only thinks about his friends and family and how his actions could possibly have an impact on them
• he just loves them so much and it's, among other reasons, what eventually makes him refuse to join the dark side
• in the book it says that he hopes Han will never disappear from this universe
• when Leia goes missing Han asks if he wants some time to gain his strength again and all Luke says is "I want to find Leia."
• I see him blaming himself for a lot that happened, especially regarding what his friends had to go through
• he's definitely one to mull over a situation in his head again and again, going "I should have been there, I could have done this and that, I should have...etc.
• he has such a hard time acknowledging anything apart from what he could have done better
• and at the end he's ready to die, to get himself killed, if it means saving the people he loves
• he'd rather die than let his weaknesses put them in danger again
• I'm sure he will eventually learn how to overcome his past and accept it as it is because that too is part of becoming a Jedi
• but he's not ready for that yet and that's okay
• because there was so much happening over the short span of only a few years, he didn't get the time to deal with his losses and trauma
• how is he supposed to move on from his guilt without properly saying goodbye and forgiving himself
• let that man grieve for god's sake
• (and someone give him a stable father figure please)
• he doesn't let others see what's going on inside of him
• even those closest to him are often times unaware of his inner struggles until he opens a conversation about it himself
• in the book it's described how he sometimes banishes all emotions from his face and wears it like a mask as to not trouble anyone
• eventually Leia is the only one realizing there's something eating at him
• I think one reason for this is the awareness of his position at the head of the rebellion, of how many look up to him for guidance
• he wants to set a good example, wants to be strong for those who are scared or feeling hopeless
• but while he might feel inadequate and often tired he makes an impression wherever he goes
• I don't think he's aware of the impact he has and how great he actually is
• he doesn't give himself enough or any credit for how much he has grown and changed in a good way too
• he's calm, collected and exudes quiet confidence to a point where it's hard to shake him up or make him loose his cool like he would have earlier
• he has a strong presence, even when he's set on keeping in the background
• when he gives out orders they are well thought of and highly respected by his subordinates
• they put lots of trust into him and his judgement
• rarely does the impatience of his younger years get the better of him
• in the same way it has become unusual for him to raise his voice at all
• it's said in the book that the rebels chosen for the mission on Endor are a wildly thrown together group of people, some of them charged criminals
• and while I believe them to be invested in their cause, I think Luke would do a great job keeping them in check should someone act out of line
• he even SMILES in critical situations
• you know, like in that one scene where he, Han, Chewie and the droids are captured by the Ewoks
• and Han is so offended at them waving their lances in his face, yelling and threatening them
• meanwhile Luke is just very amused
• (I'm on my knees for him, like that's so hot I cant- )
• no longer does he act on impulse, but rather takes time to observe a situation before carefully trying to negotiate
• this not only shows his character development but also how much their relationship evolved
• at the beginning Han was definitely some kind of role model for Luke
• he's a pilot, has his own ship, something that Luke always wanted
• he has much experience and many stories to tell about his adventures
• to someone who never had the chance to leave their planet before he must have seemed grand and beyond impressive
• but I feel like Luke has grown so much he eventually surpassed Han and now smiles at his friends antics
• he's now able to see him the way he really is, instead of blindly idolizing him, which really balances out their friendship
• to round off this post I want to talk about how his fighting skills developed as well
• I already mentioned in some of my other posts that I think Luke is really strong but during the scenes on Endor we get to see glimpses of it too
• he's not only strong with the Force but physically capable as well
• he easily stops Han from pulling his weapon on the Ewoks with ONE hand
• during the chase scene with Leia we see him throw a man off his speeder bike like it's nothing
• he simply grabs him and he goes flying against a tree
• (it's even wilder in the book, where they describe Luke "grabbing the man's neck" to "sling" him away and into the tree with "bone crushing force")
• (please grab my neck and crush my bones too, daddy👀)
• in addition he is a very quick thinker and calm enough in stressful situations to come up with well calculated manoeuvers
• neither do his capabilities falter when put to the test
• the best example for this is the scene with the speeder bike racing towards him while shooting
• Luke easily deflects the laser bolts and then, like in afterthought, steps aside to cut off the front part
• and then he walks off like nothing happened

1/8/2024
Heavy is the head that wears the crown. I used this quote many a times in 2023. I realize now of the significance of this quote. This year, I met many people. I've quarreled with a few long the way.
What I learned from from my experience with Tu is that some people will use their misery as a way to lash out on others. They will become hypervigilant and take every joke as a perceived attack. I think about how sometimes a dog's personality will take after their master. Her dog has high anxiety and will bite others out of fear. I believe she did the same. Yet, Tu is my friend and we grew up together. I know of her hardships. Time has not been kind to her over the years. If there is a way to grant her a little peace, I would really like to try to help her with it. Forgiving tu wasn't easy. There are still days where I well up in anger. But I know deep down that she has a good heart. I want to continue to believe in her.
Calvin wasn't someone I expected to win Villain of the Year award in 2023. He became my Dr. Mann. When I first met him, I could always sense a deep hurt that echoed in his heart. It made me happy to give him some pleasant memories from the church of taeyeon adventures. What I didn't foresee was the bouts of anger and jealousy that would seethe from him over time. It was the same feeling I experienced with Thomas over my 20s. I want more than anything for him to have a heart full of content. Over the course of a few months, I saw the man who dubbed me Robin of the Titans, slowly begin to resent my personality. He began to throw veiled verbal attacks on me through passive aggressiveness. What I liked the most about Calvin though is he does know the weight of his actions. I feel the shame as he averts his gaze from mine. He is on the long road for recovery but I'll always be willing to lend a helping hand to my brother.
Meeting Thomas again was always going to be a mixed bag. Yet overall, I enjoyed catching up with my old friend. I am glad we are both old enough to acknowledge both of our shortcomings when it came to our friendship. I can still feel the tinges of envy that come from Thomas. I know he still tries really hard to emulate the qualities he was so jealous and envious of when it came to me. . He told me during our catch up that he didn't like it when people interject his negative experience with their positive expirence. A few minutes later, he did the same to me! It was funny because he caught it just as he said it. It's fascinating to see him project his habits that he doesn't like about himself towards me still. At the same time, maybe that is the legacy that I leave within him. He tries to be empathetic and he tries to give intellectual advice. Though it still seems like he's following my footsteps, i think he's on his way towards carving his own path.
I am forever indebted to Anh Tran. For I am an imperfect man. I have many shortcomings and I've made a plethora of marked failures in 2023. Yet, she still chooses to love me through it all. I am grateful to have been blessed with her heart's presence. I admire her undying resolve, her tenacious fire, and her angelic compassion. I wouldn't be where I am today without her. I would not be able to end my 20s with such a victory lap without her. My 30s are already beginning with a roar. To think that she rendered this thunder storm of a heart into clear skies. I was able to travel all across the country with such a beautiful love. From the busy streets of New York to the peaceful waves of California, I'm glad to have been able to spend it with you. I can't wait for what 2024 will have in store for us. You are the best girl that I have entrusted my secrets, my fears and my aspirations to. I want to help fulfill your dreams too. I want to continue to be safe haven. I want to continue to do my best to be there for you.
To Alec, my right hand man. Thank you for believing in me. You keep me on a straight path too. I want to continue to try my best to do good, to show you that love is always the right answer. Anger and vitriol are products of a darker timeline. There is always light, even in the darkest depths. Honestly, I learn a lot from you. I admire your work ethic, your curious compassion, and your moral compass. It reminds me of Tony starks and Peter parkers relationship. It isn't about what you did, but how you make up for it that defines you. In you, I found a little brother, a pure lifelong friend, and someone I truly trust.
To Victoria, I hope to continue to carry the sense of light heartened that you're able to exude so easily. For me, I still get bogged down from time to time about the past. You show me the importance of a light friendship. You show me how to foster long term connection. You inspire me to be confident and to be myself irregardless of the cost.
I have erred. I have conquered. I have soared. The most important lesson this year is to swallow the failure and not let the failure swallow you. How a king receives his crown, is when they take their hardships and makes gold out of it. I've made a treasure trove of grand memories. I am thankful and grateful for all of this.

REVIEW: The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood
Rating: 3/5
Synopsis
As a third-year Ph.D. candidate, Olive Smith doesn't believe in lasting romantic relationships--but her best friend does, and that's what got her into this situation. Convincing Anh that Olive is dating and well on her way to a happily ever after was always going to take more than hand-wavy Jedi mind tricks: Scientists require proof. So, like any self-respecting biologist, Olive panics and kisses the first man she sees.
That man is none other than Adam Carlsen, a young hotshot professor--and well-known ass. Which is why Olive is positively floored when Stanford's reigning lab tyrant agrees to keep her charade a secret and be her fake boyfriend. But when a big science conference goes haywire, putting Olive's career on the Bunsen burner, Adam surprises her again with his unyielding support and even more unyielding... six-pack abs.
Suddenly their little experiment feels dangerously close to combustion. And Olive discovers that the only thing more complicated than a hypothesis on love is putting her own heart under the microscope.
Review
I am not the smartest person when it comes to biological science, so a lot of whatever the hell hey were talking about really went over my head while reading this book. Aside from that, this story really did capture my heart despite it being from the infamous Book Tok. Though, this book wasn't exactly as it was marketed to be from readers. When many talked about spice, it sounded like this entire story was meant to be erotica. The reality is that there was really only one sex chapter, which given the traits of our beloved heroin, Olive, it makes sense.
The prologue drew me in immediately. I'm a sucker for a good laugh especially if it's relatable. I've learned my lesson from wearing expired contacts myself! Immediately after reading the prologue, I knew we had our hero. Then suddenly two years and eleven months later we find Olive kissing some guy who is none other than our hero himself, Adam Carlson.
One thing that irks me about the beginning of the book is the first chapter where it is described that Olive had kissed Adam without his consent. At the beginning of the story, the two of them are the perfect strangers who stand at very different levels in their careers - Adam is a professor, Olive is a student which isn't exactly the power dynamic I usually go for in contemporary romance novels. While I love a good plot in STEM, specifically women in STEM, I find that the relationship could've been represented better with a more preferable age gap that does not make it seem too inappropriate. However, they do end up making it work as they start becoming more comfortable with each other, so I guess that works.
"I'm starting to wonder if this is what being in love us. Being okay with ripping yourself into shreds, so the other person can stay whole."
Both Adam and Olive have admirable goals in their careers; Olive's pancreatic cancer project and Adam's fight for his research fund while under suspicion that he may be moving to another university. This story is very much character driven with not much character development. But, if you're looking for that grumpy x sunshine fake dating trope, well then this book is perfect for you. I noticed that this story did not focus much on the flaws of the characters which added to the lack of character development, aside from them being more comfortable with each other as the story progressed. The more we got introduced to new characters, the more I started to realize that each character lacked diversity. It seemed that they each had either the same or a similar personality. Which while entertaining for certain character interactions, it all seemed repetitive in the end.
"Olive had felt that he was on her side. Over and over, and in ways that could never have been anticipated, he had made her feel unjudged. Less alone."
Conclusion
All in all, I feel that while the relationship was cute and had great development, the story could've used more personal character development for the individual characters. One thing that I did enjoy that I tend to joke about quite a bit is the fact that even though they had no "one bed trope," they ended up making their own anyways and I thought that was funny. The best takeaway from this book is that it surrounds the difficulties of women in STEM and the fact that Adam became her biggest protector in the end made my heart flip. Nothing is sexier than a man who will do anything for his woman even if it means pinning a man against the wall and threatening to kill him. Hopefully you find this book enjoyable as much a I did despite it's many flaws and it's redeeming qualities that balanced it out.
"If you say another word about the woman I love, if you look at her, if you even think about her - I'm going to fucking kill you."
