[ID: a digital redraw of the scene where chuuya shoots dazai in the shoulder. on the top of the drawing is chuuya holding a guy to dazai's head in the red and grey hallways of the prison. on the bottom of the drawing is dazai's pained face. the gunshot is shown stylistically as hectic lines behind his bloody shoulder. over the image is half a quote from goncharov that reads 'if we really were in love you wouldn't have missed.' the signature says dandelion-roots. end ID]
This quote from Goncharov (1973) in relation to soukoku has been haunting me from before I even got to that scene in the anime (the full thing is: Katya- Of course we're in love, that's why I tried to shoot you/ Goncharov- If we really were in love you wouldn't have missed). Violence as a tool for communicating emotions, especially love and hatred, especially love and hatred makes me go feral- how could I not think of the iconic quote that says that katya's miss was a sign of a lack of love/a fake love when chuuya didn't miss? Just... losing it over here.
I just found out Fyodor's cello piece from the 3rd season is called "Bird of death" and I find that interesting for a few reasons.
First of all, is it connected to Nikolai? They work together and -shipping aside - if they're actually friends, it would make sense for Fyodor to write a piece either for him or simply inspired by him. Not only are birds associated with Nikolai, but death as well since he was supposed to die by being cut in half. He also kills people, so if we combine all those things, they kind of make him a symbolic bird of death.
Secondly, it would make the cello scene have a slightly different atmosphere as Fyodor would be playing a piece he associates with his friend who's going to die after commiting a series of murders while a different murder is taking place. Also the situation would be even weirder for Katsura because it would mean he was kidnapped by a guy who didn't just play cello for him, but play a piece he associates with his friend. Of course Katsura would have no way of knowing, but still.
Thirdly, does that make Fyodor a bird of death? Because if it's not connected with Nikolai whatsoever, then it's most likely connected with Fyodor himself. It would make sense because he kills people as well, but would also accidentally make both Fyodor and Nikolai be associated with both birds and death (#matchingimagery).
Lastly, how much does studio Bones know?? I checked the dates of manga volume releases and Sunday tragedy chapters did come out back in 2017, so the team working on the anime would have enough time to integrate this title as an easter egg if they wanted to do that (as the 3rd season began in April 2019), but then again it seems like a random idea to allude to a character from a future arc that they weren't animating at the time. Either a member of the team was/is a fan of bsd or they're getting extra info on future events. Bones also seems to be making surprising decisions when adapting the material (such as putting Fyodor in Untold Origins), so I think it's possible they know something we don't.
But it's also possible that Bird of Death has a different meaning that I'm not aware of or it's all just a coincidence haha
Me, feeling that single Daredevil gif along with screenshots of Matt and Frank revive my energy again and feeling my mood lift like when i saw the Sexy Born Again Coat:
oh
is this what a sad tiger feels like when a frozen meat puzzle ball is put in the enclosure
I freaking LOVE how you draw everyone just so...soft; like I bet they all feel like felt and plush during hugs. Also: do you think Barnaby would ever do that full body wag that dogs with nubs/short tails do when they're super duper happy?
ty! i try my best!
i suspect Barnaby has too much self respect. he's a distinguished dog yk! he wears a tie!
I was rewatching The Stone Forest and I really like to think that Hilda had to pass by the Bell Keeper’s outpost on her way out of the city limits. I like to think that idiot looked at what was happening, shrugged, and said ‘eh, she’s the scariest thing out there’
i need an autistic minecraft furry to explain to me how the FUCK custom models work. I can't find good tutorials for any of this shit? The wall i'm running up against right now is how the fuck the item holding animations work, especially when trying to work together with other animations. If I have to make a custom item holding animation for every single player state that's fine, I just don't know how the fuck to do that.
something about these two pages is so...... the way kabru is trying to brutally kill falin while simultaneously restricting her movement in such an elegant(?) way.... the delicate precision in the way he stabs her... the raw emotion on their faces: the determination, shock, fear.... i think i hauve covid
This is my lil homebrew tiefling dryad forest guardian.
He's a cocktail of wall•e and the avatar from atla.
He collects enchanted items and what not that he finds on his little patrols, he doesn't realize they're important so he'll pocket them and just toss them in a pile when he gets back to his shelter. He doesn't care about those trinkets as much as he cares about the literally garbage and rocks he finds which he puts on shelves and spends maybe a bit too long admiring them.
He does have speak with animals but he doesn't realize that the animals can understand him so he usually leaves or changes topic before the creature can respond.
He named himself twig and his leaves/ hair change color with the seasons
I know being like “communism is religious” is an extremely annoying thing to say but I’m reading a book called red demiurge which is about the legal history of the soviet union and honestly that title is not hyperbole
Funny how you mentioned acting expressions in animation with limited features like just the eyes. In college, we DID have to do test animation using Marvin the Martian in the 2d character animation course (he's usually the go-to model). Since his face is just eyes, you're graded if you can effectively portray a specific emotion within facial limitations (my assigned line was "I claim this planet in the name of Mars! Isn't that lovely?")
It's fun to think about all the Bros animators going : "Ah yes, the eye acting." *cracks knuckles "Challenge accepted."
referring to this
The animators looked at those big blue eyes, those bushy (very neat I might add!) eyebrows, and those magnificent moustaches and said
I need to type this out to make my brain stop revolving so this a rant. Just read a story on the dnd subreddit where a vegan player got upset about a pig roast in the game and demanded there be no more real world animal cruelty in their sessions and...
What? You are playing a non-pacifist ttrpg. You kill people in game. She even said killing humanoids and fantasy creatures was fine but God forbid their chef character rp by describing preparing a pig for roasting or they see an abused dog for flavor text. But a dragon dog? Well that's fine. Kick it in a fire. Who cares. So long as it's real analogue right next to it is well fed and a happy boy, the player could not give a shit.
And in the follow up, the group capitulated to her. A group she joined recently that had already been playing for some time in an established campaign. Where she didn't mention any of this until THIS point.
I guess I'm annoyed cause if this happened to me in my group halfway through a campaign with someone who just joined and didn't bring this to the table at that point, instead waiting for an rp session to start pouting, I'd be pissed. Especially if I was the DM or the guy rping as a chef. You can describe the smell of stew and the prep of making food...unless it's meat then you need to hand wave it or gesture vaguely towards.
I just got done slaughtering an owlbear; I wouldn't want to feel icky and lose my appetite over you cooking a chicken.
