i think there’s a special kind of horrible feeling for people who actually have their favorite book turned into a movie, in a format that they wanted! (animated) and had it turn out to be complete shit, from the sanitization of the story, to the comphet, right down to the design style and yes i am talking about the Amazing Maurice

Where can I learn more about the French communists in Algeria? I don't know if I'm a communist per se but abolishing privately-owned land, if not private property, seems inoffensive. But the idea of whites not sympathasing but throwing their hats in with Muslims amazes me.
France is super ashamed of these people existing. So it’s hard to find informations about them. Only reason I know is because sometimes they are quickly mentioned in books and documentaries about the war and because of a song about October 17 1961 in which the rapper end the song saying “Four months later a lynching in Charonne, the coco who help the b*******” coco being a way to say communist and the b-word is an anti Algerian (now anti Arab) slur. And I was like “wait a minute what does he mean?!” And I googled “Charonne Février 1962” and found out about those communists in France who protested in favor of Algeria and how the police killed them. (9 people were killed 250 were wounded that’s so much less violent than what they did when the protesters were Algerians but still). The full song with the translation are here
In A dying colonialism by Frantz Fanon there’s a whole chapter at the end dedicated to the “European minority in Algeria” about how they are mostly pieces of shit basically but he explains that there was a minority within the minority who considered themselves Algerians and were willing to fight alongside us. Some did it by giving informations and organizing protests some joined the ALN. I remember the testimony of one of them who came back to France during the war and he realized that he didn’t fit at all. He realized that he fit in more with Algerians that he wasn’t French he was Algerian. He says that he didn’t recognize French people as his people but he saw Algerians as his people. So for him the logical conclusion was to go back to Algeria and join the freedom fighters in the mountains.
And that was pretty much the discourse of the freedom fighters in the FLN and the ALN. “You’re fighting for Algeria? You’re Algerian regardless if you are indigenous or not.” And those who fought for Algeria and died were buried in our martyr cemeteries. Shahid (martyr) is supposed to be a religious term but those men and women who were not Muslims still have the title of Shahid because they fought and died alongside indigenous people for Algeria to be free.
Anyway like I said it’s super complicated to find informations about them. But if you want to look into it the stories of Maurice Audin and Henri Maillot are a good start. You’ll have to Google their names cause there’s little ressources because France is ashamed and Algeria put all the moudjahid and shouhada on the same level so we don’t insist on the minority of Europeans who helped. There’s a good and fairly accurate movie about Henri Maillot called “Operation Maillot” but you might not find it. I suspect that it’s been censored cause it’s impossible to find it in France… no legal or illegal platform no way to buy it or rent it. It’s super weird how a movie can disappear that way…
Last thing: The French communists of 1954-1962 have nothing to do with the French communist party now. During the war they were willing to check their white privilege to question things and to help. Now they follow their leader like a bunch of dogs and are often racists and refuse to properly call out police violences.

I'm trying to read classics as a non-native speaker
I’m back, anon! Sorry for the wait. Let me know if you read this, otherwise I’ll reblog it every now and then to make sure it doesn’t get lost between all the other answers so you can see it hahah.
Anyway… unfortunately I haven’t read that many classics in English, because it’s a bit difficult for me - particularly if the author is anglophone (plus I’m lucky that in my country most publishing houses release absolutely top notch editions and translations of classic novels). I mean, I’ve read 1984 and Animal farm in English, but I absolutely didn’t like them, so I’m not going to suggest them. I’ll suggest you a few books that I think aren’t that complex in English :).
Starting with the “usually easy to get through” basics: White nights by Fyodor Dostoevsky, Pride and prejudice by Jane Austen, The great Gatsby by Francis Scott Fitzgerald. These are novels that even people who usually don’t read classics can appreciate. Pride and prejudice and The great Gatsby are largely considered to be the masterpieces of their respective authors, while White nights honestly pales when compared to Dostoevsky other works (and it also doesn’t deal with any of the themes that become predominant in his later works), but it’s still a great story that you can read in one afternoon.
Then we have some “not so easy to get through but amazing” classics: Maurice by E. M. Forster, Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert and The age of innocence by Edith Wharton. These are all fabulous, among the greatest novels ever written, imo. Maurice is about a relationship between two men (yeah, despite what some people will tell you queer people have actually written classics!), but it’s mainly about the intricacies of the reputation one has in society and money and respect and patriarchal expectations. Madame Bovary is the best written portrait of a woman written by a man you’ll ever read. And The age of innocence is about a tragic love story and the incapacity of the protagonist to adapt to the rules of society, but at the same time to live his life while being true to himself: he’s in a constant limbo between what he wants to do and what people expect him to do and he refuses to choose. Edith Wharton also became the first woman ever to win a Pulitzer Prize with this novel!
Here are two short stories that I think you might enjoy, if you don’t feel like reading anything too long: Dumpling by Guy de Maupassant and First love by Ivan Turgenev. These two might be my favorite classic short novels ever. I’ve already made five friends of mine read First love and they all fell in love with it (my best friend read it a second time as soon as she finished the first reading, because she just loved it that much haha).
Read Madame Bovary if you feel the way Taylor felt when she wrote Anti-Hero.
Read Dumpling if you feel the way Taylor felt when she wrote mad woman.
Read Maurice if you feel the way Taylor felt when she wrote Midnight Rain.
Read First love if you feel the way Taylor felt when she wrote august, with a bit of ivy sprinkled in it for the gorgeous descriptions of nature.
Read The age of innocence if you feel the way Taylor felt when she wrote illicit affairs.
Then there’s the usual suspects: The Brothers Karamazov, Anna Karenina, Les Miserables… but I’ve tried suggesting maybe lesser known books (except for the first batch and Madame Bovary, of course hahah).
Hope this helps!

Topic: Gallery Visit - Victoria & Albert Museum. Part 1/4.
The brief for this blog post was to visit the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. The aim was to see many different types of artwork and have the senses stimulated. Specifically, the brief requested to go see two exhibitions – the OPSAAAL, Solidarity & Design and the Maurice Broomfield: Industrial Sublime; but also suggested and encouraged students to get inspiration throughout the Museum. The OPSAAAL exhibition: The OPSAAAL was a group born in Cuba 1966 to bring political solidarity across nation from Africa, Asia and Latin America. The exhibition showcased the struggles of those people, its political activism for social justice and anti-imperialism and anti-colonialism around the globe. The group closed in 2019. For me the Che Guevara poster titled “Day of the Heroic Guerrilla, 8 October, Elena Serrano 1968” was one of the highlights of the exhibition, where the artwork celebrates the life of the famous & iconic Cuban revolutionary leader. Followed by “Day of Solidarity with Guatemala, 6 February, Antonio Marino 1970”. It was interesting to notice the small and limited colour palette used by the artists throughout the exhibition. Maurice Broomfield: Industrial Sublime: Unfortunately, the Photography Centre was closed for refurbishing on the date I visited the Museum and I was unable to visit the exhibition. Another highlight of the visit was the cast of the most famous sculpture in the world: Michelangelo’s David (1501-4). David, slayer of the giant Goliath, was a symbol of civic freedom for the Florentine Republic. In the photo, I have tried to capture the magnitude of the artwork and its size in proportion. Also, interesting to notice the time span & history behind the whole Museum’s collection raging from different centuries. I have seen artworks ranging from 1375 to 2018. Amazing! Finally, I would like to mention the magnificent wing with the stained-glass windows and the Kyiv Monastery Gates (1784) which were given to Ukraine by Catherine the Great of Russia. In conclusion, the visit was fantastic and inspirational. And the OPSAAAL showcase of political activism for social justice and anti-imperialism & anti-colonialism inspired me for the theme I suggested for the E3 – Narrative Project: Street Protest - End Racism. In the future I would like to visit the Maurice Broomfield exhibition, which I have confirmed will be opened until May 2023.

The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane (1976)
The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane is a 1976 cross-genre film directed by Nicolas Gessner and starring Jodie Foster, Martin Sheen, Alexis Smith, Mort Shuman, and Scott Jacoby. It was a co-production of Canada and France and written by Laird Koenig, based on his 1974 novel of the same title.  The plot focuses on 13-year-old Rynn Jacobs (Foster), a child whose absent poet father and secretive behaviours prod the suspicions of her conservative small-town Maine neighbours. The adaptation, originally intended as a play, was filmed in Quebec on a small budget. The production later became the subject of controversy over reports that Foster had conflicts with producers over the filming and inclusion of a nude scene, but a 21-year-old body double (Foster's sister) was used. After a screening at the 1976 Cannes Film Festival, a court challenge was launched regarding distribution, and a general release followed in 1977.
 Alice Sweet Alice (1976)
Alice, Sweet Alice (originally titled Communion) is a 1976 American slasher film co-written and directed by Alfred Sole, and starring Linda Miller, Paula Sheppard, and Brooke Shields in her film debut. Set in 1961 New Jersey, the film focuses on a troubled adolescent girl who becomes a suspect in the brutal murder of her younger sister at her First Communion, as well as in a series of unsolved stabbings that follow.  Inspired by Nicolas Roeg's Don't Look Now (1973) and the films of Alfred Hitchcock, writer-director Sole devised the screenplay with Rosemary Ritvo, an English professor who was his neighbor. At the time, Sole had been working as an architect restoring historic buildings in his hometown of Paterson, New Jersey, and several properties he had worked on were used as shooting locations. Filming took place throughout the summer of 1975 in Paterson and Newark. The film premiered at the Chicago International Film Festival under its original title, Communion, in November 1976, and was released under this title in London in September 1977. After being acquired by Allied Artists, it was re-titled Alice, Sweet Alice, and released in the United States on November 18, 1977. Another theatrical re-release occurred in 1981 under the title Holy Terror, which marketed the popularity of Shields after her performance in Louis Malle's Pretty Baby (1978). While not prosecuted for obscenity, the film was seized and confiscated in the UK under Section 3 of the Obscene Publications Act 1959 during the video nasty panic, and was controversial in Ireland due to its apparent anti-Catholic themes.

Maurice
How I feel about this character: I loved that we got Maurice, and i loved that he was one of the best AND STILL GOT TO BE AN OPERATIVE!! AMazing, that whole episode??? An absolute fave. And not only that he does keep showing up, i love his character. Love the introduction of a teen faction (while it doesnt have an official name, the fandom does dub it TND and we’ve been living ever since.) Fanny even cried when he was decommed!!! I just think hes neat and brought in a cool concept that people like to focus with Chad a lot but also basically heavily implies Abby will also be in those ranks (and you know he put in a good word).
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Ive seen Chad/Maurice, its underrated. And Me and destiny gave him two bfs i think at one point too. Lisa is 2000′s oc but shes cute and theyre cuTE and i love them too.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: OG Sector V.... Amazing. I love Abby and Maurice, I do like headcanoning Cree getting over her crush on Maurice realizing she’d rather him as a friend. The Teensquad... ABSOLUTELY. Having fun going around the town causin trouble. Chillin, chad and maurice squandering any anti-kid efforts, and rocking out.
My unpopular opinion about this character:  Not a fan of the uhhhh Cree/Maurice stuff tbh. KND puts Teens as one big group thing but thats a middle schooler and a highschooler. Thats two different things but sure okay.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.: Oh my god okay, GKND where hes “Highly Dangerous”??? THE CONCEPT OF THAT???  I do think it’s GKND running that website and justbjdks along with Cree and CHad being captured. I wonder if he had something to do with it. Did he try and help Cree?? Rachel and PAtton since theyre now fugitive status?? Also, a little more detail on the teen operatives and like.. is that a lifetime thing or just until theyre 18? I dont imagine theyd have Decom, thats a lot of memory removal from a significant part of your life (youre whole childhood and development stage?) How much does Maurice know? Clearly not everything given op PARTY. But also..... I would love a Teen Villain vs Teen Operative scenerio wouldnt that be cool??? THATD BE COOL. Anyway. maybe a inbetween episode with Chad and Maurice being undercover together and just discussing things. I dont think Maurice would know Chads connection with the GKND until after TREATY (basically after hes gone?) so like cryptic nonsense from Chad and Maurice getting suspicions around that point. I’ll stop now. We could have a lot with this, @teen-ninjas does explore these things a bit.

Come to think of it, it’s a miracle Alec doesn’t have any major hang ups about sex and romantic relationships given the environment he was growing up in and the examples he saw 💀 Anyway, I’ve always headcanoned that Alec was into books thanks story the Shakespeare thing in canon. So, I imagine baby gay Alec was sneaking into NYC libraries to get some rep. I mean, you someone so surprisingly self-aware and in tune with his feelings must’ve tried to get some outside input. That said, it’s sort ->
-> upsetting bc of all the depressing stuff Alec must’ve read (like giovanni's room) but also I’d like to think he also found books like Maurice, books that give hope.
tbh it really is??? i think it might be because he has spent like, too much time dreaming about getting what he wanted to and letting miscommunication or something get in the way, you know? also, like, he's determined, when he knows what he wants, he knows what he wants, so i think he just applies that to relationships lol. but yeah it's amazing how healthily he is taking his first relationship considering he never even expected to have a real one, had THESE role models, and all the shit that was going down
not that magnus and alec didn't have any problems but you know. they dealt with them healthily and that's what matters. and alec is definitely the more communicative of the two
also, i totally agree with the books headcanons! it does strike me as a little weird that he would have read shakespeare otherwise. especially with his whole anti-mundane thing, you know? i mean i think that that was just him copying what he heard his family say and he didn't really believe in that, but it makes more sense like this, you know? maybe he used to read those in secret and so he pretended extra hard to hate mundanes so he wouldn't be found out. lol

Remembering Maurice Gibb on the day he passed in 2003. . I have to admit coming to the Bee Gees late. I was young and impressionable during the anti Disco years and was listening to the Clash, Cars and Police. But as I got older I found their great songwriting and amazing vocals/harmonies. Now they are one of my favorite bands. 🤙 This is their 15th (15th!!!) album Spirits Having Flown. It was released at the height of their fame (1979) since it was next in line after Saturday Night Fever and before they were shunned from the radio. If you haven't watched it yet, check out the new documentary film 'How Can You Mend a Broken Heart' on HBO. 👍😎🎶 . #vinyl #vinylcollection #vinylcollector #vinyligclub #vinylcommunity #vinylcommunitypost #vinylrecords #vinyljunkie #vinyladdict #vinylporn #vinylgram #vinyllover #vinyllove #vinyloftheday #vinylcollectionpost #33rpm #33rpmclub #nowspinning #nowplaying #cratedigging #records #recordcollection #instahifi #beegees #70smusic https://www.instagram.com/p/CJ9JJ3Es5yX/?igshid=gild17170lrv

whats your recommended reading order for discworld?
Thank you for asking!
A couple notes before I dive in: I usually personalize these recommendation lists depending on what I know about the person’s particular interests, so I’ll include notes throughout on how to personalize it for yourself.
Second, I tend to think of Discworld Books as falling roughly into three periods: The Early Period, where Terry Pratchett was primarily writing genre parodies, and his books were funny, but not all that deep; The Middle Period, where Terry Pratchett’s books were both hilarious and deep, with a lot of attention paid to both character and theme. And the Late Period, where Terry Pratchett started repeating themes from earlier works and doing them... worse this time. He gets deeply neoliberal in the late period and those books are pretty hard to read imo.
So I primarily recommend books from The Middle Period, because I think those books are most representative of Terry Pratchett’s writing at its best. If you want to go back and read more from the early and late periods after you get through my recommendations, you should feel free to, but I won’t include them on my list.
Okay, with all that said, let’s dive in:
Standalone Books
Monstrous Regiment
Small Gods
I almost always recommend people start with one of these two. If you’re LGBT, you most likely want to start with Monstrous Regiment. If you’re neurodivergent or especially interested in philosophy/religion, you might want to start with Small Gods instead. Either way, these two are where you want to begin.
City Watch Books
The best mini-series and also the part of Discworld that most benefits from reading them in chronological order. Note: The first book in this mini-series, Guards! Guards!, is actually part of the early period, so it’s more parody/comedy than anything. But the later books in this series are some of the best Discworld has to offer, despite being about cops, so it’s worth getting through. Vimes may be a cop, but he’s also an anti-monarchist working class hero, so. Pros and cons. (This is where the Vimes Boots Theory of Economic Unfairness comes from)
Guards! Guards!
Men At Arms
Feet of Clay
Jingo
The Fifth Elephant
Night Watch
Thud
(There’s an 8th book called Snuff but it’s part of the Late Period and it’s SO bad I really don’t recommend it.)
Miscellaneous Ankh-Morpork Books
These books take place in the same city as the City Watch books and have some character crossover, so if you wanted you could read these in publishing order mixed in with the Watch books, but you don’t really have to. They also mostly work as standalones.
The Truth
Thief of Time
Going Postal
Making Money
Unseen Academicals
(Making Money is a sequel to Going Postal so read those two in order. There’s a third book called Raising Steam but again, it’s part of the late period and it’s even worse than Snuff.)
Tiffany Aching Series
Prioritize these if you really like YA/coming of age books about magic kids.
The Wee Free Men
A Hat Full of Sky
Wintersmith
I Shall Wear Midnight
(There’s a fifth book in this series called The Shepherd’s Crown. It was the last ever Discworld book, published after Terry Pratchett’s death, and I haven’t been brave enough to read it yet.)
The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents
(Not part of this series but thematically/tonally it would make sense to read this around the same time you read the Tiffany Aching books.)
Death Series
Mort
Reaper Man
Hogfather
The Death books are kind of of mixed quality in my opinion, but one of the storylines in Reaper Man is one of the absolute best things in all of Discworld, so it’s worth reading them (or at least worth reading Reaper Man if you don’t want to bother with the others).
Witches Series
Lords and Ladies
Carpe Jugulum
There are a lot more witches books, but these two are the most interesting in my opinion. The witches books are mostly part of the early period.
The Rest
Okay, after all this, feel free to read the rest of the Witches books or even the Rincewind Books (the earliest of the early period) as you want. I don’t feel as strongly about those books, so I’m afraid I can’t really guide you through them. But even if you stop reading here you’ll have gotten a clear idea of the best stuff Discworld has to offer.
If anyone has any further questions about any of the books listed here or the order in which to read them, feel free to message me/send me an ask/reply to this post.

“Tell Me About Your Choices” 2,5,6,27,28
Hi, @lovemychoices ! Thanks for asking 😊
2. What book do you think is overrated?
Just one book? LOL... I'll choose Endless Summer. To quote a friend of mine, it's Choices money grab book.
5. Your favorite LI?
King Liam. I love all my LIs, but there's no one like him on Choices universe ❤
6. Your least favorite LI?
Beckett Harrington. He's basically the reason I started to use tag filters (anti beckett tags included).
27. What is your favorite pairing/book to read fanfics about?
That's a hard question... I don't know if I have a favorite book to read fics about 😓
When it comes to canon pairings, I'll say Jax x MC. There aren't many fics about him here (and I seriously have no idea why, he's so freaking amazing), but I guarantee you all Jax Matsuo fics I've read are incredibly sweet and sexy.
Non-canon pairings are even harder for me to choose, but my favorite ones are Bastien x Olivia (there are some outstanding people writing this pairing, but check out @bobasheebaby 's series Falling For You), Chris x Zig (@itsalliepg have blessed the fandom with this hot pairing), @kennaxval 's Maxwell x OC (Michael, I miss Maxwell and Maurice. Please, bring them back ❤) and Becca x Madison
28. What pairing/book do you wish there was more fanfics about?
I usually write about the pairings I wish to see more, so I'm gonna skip that one, but I'd love to see more Wishful Thinking fics. Stories about relationships with adorable LIs and readings animals minds? That's pure golden fluff 😍

Which Work Am I A Bigger Fan Of?  I Cannot Choose!
I have two works that I really like, and they are Transformers and Sonic The Hedgehog.  Both enhanced my creativity, and I grew up with Transformers (the live-action films, anyway; but I got into G1 when I got into the 1980′s); they have extraterrestrials that are allies or enemies with humans (and they have anti-heroes as well (I’m looking at you, Armada Starscream and Shadow The Hedgehog)); and they have English and Japanese versions of their own media (the original Unicron Trilogy and Sonic X are all anime series in which the Japanese versions with English subtitles are better than the English dubs).  I have been fans of both works for a couple years (I saw Transformers first, and then Sonic The Hedgehog).
However, I am debating whether I like one more than the other; I believe I am, but I am going to differentiate between these two works to see for myself.  Here it goes; I am going to start with Transformers, first.
The first Transformers work I saw was the first live-action film directed by Michael Bay.  It looked very realistic, and the graphics were nice.  I saw two more live-action films, and they were okay, but the third film went downhill, especially since they killed off some of my favorite characters from there (especially Ironhide; I really liked that black truck, and Sentinel killed him).  I don’t remember when I saw the 1986 film, but it is one of these factors that got me into the 1980′s (among The Transformers, in which that animated film was based on).  I started to prefer G1 over Bayformers since their styles looked fantastic, and it is also how I got a little into Mecha anime (Golion/Dairugger/Voltron got me even more into Japanese anime).
I then looked to see if there are any other Mecha shows I would watch, and I remembered fans talking about Transformers Armada, and I searched via Anime News Network; when I saw that Ironhide was in there, as well as Starscream, I got the urge to watch it.  I saw all 52 episodes of the show (called Micron Legend) with English subtitles, and I was hooked into it.  Micron Legend became even more of my favorite Transformers work than even G1 because of many G1 callbacks, certain soundtracks that sounded 1980′s, and many complex characters from both sides.  I then saw another show, in which it is called Energon (actually, it was Superlink), and I got as much hooked as I did with the other show, despite some flaws such as not giving certain characters enough screen time.  I was upset when the characters from Micron Legend got killed off (especially Ironhide/Demolishor), but was amazed at some new characters, especially those that were based off of their G1 counterparts, such as Inferno, Lazerwave (homage to G1 Shockwave), Wheeljack, Springer, and Omega Supreme.  I saw Galaxy Force (original version of Cybertron) once, and lost interest, despite some interesting characters such as Soundwave and Chromia (Thunderblast).  Similarly, Headmasters made me lose interest, since some of the characters were really bland, and they were lacking some character development in some of the Transformers (and even humans).
Since the first Bayformers film was the one I liked a lot, I didn’t want to watch anymore live-action films until 2018, in which the Bumblebee film debuted.  I was skeptical at first, until I got the chance to saw it; it was fantastic; the film was set in 1987, and it had many themes and styles of the 1980′s, and it stayed true to the G1 continuity (besides Micron Legend, Superlink, and Galaxy Force).  And the villains were phenomenal, especially Shatter (ROTF Alice didn’t give me enough excitement for a believably evil Decepticon who is female (or at least feminine), she was too bland, in my opinion).  And don’t forget the music, especially when Stan Bush’s song appeared in one scene where Bumblebee was encouraging his human friend, Charlie Watson, to dive off a cliff (which is safe, and has water).
Now let’s go with Sonic The Hedgehog.  I have noticed some people playing the games, and I never got the hold of it until I noticed that there was an anime show based on the games (especially the Adventure series), and I decided to give it a watch.  The anime was Sonic X, and it was in Japanese with English subtitles.  I was blown away because of Sonic’s tendency to break the fourth wall and throw in English here and there, the graphics which looked similar to Micron Legend in many angles, one original character with his many racing supercars (Sam Speed), contains Mecha (usually by Dr. Eggman), the soundtrack, and, of course, Shadow The Hedgehog (the first time I understood that character was in this show).  Also, the anime had many callbacks from the previous games (1991-2003; 2003 was when Sonic X was first broadcasted); and the Metarex saga gave me a feel from the part where Unicron debuted in Micron Legend.
One of my cousins have many different Sonic games, since he is a huge fan of them.  He had spin-off games as well; one of them was Shadow’s own game.  The first time I took interest was when I heard some fans talk about him using guns; at first, I thought it was a joke, until I saw for myself.  Many die-hard Sonic fans don’t like the 2005 game, but I certainly liked it, especially after I saw Sonic X; it was dark and edgy, yes, but it also gave the main character more depth and characterization, he can use firearms if he chooses to, and drives vehicles such as motorcycles and cars; I even have the option to play it in English or Japanese (of course with English subtitles for both).
I also did some reviews for three Sonic TV shows during the 1990′s.  Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog came to mind, especially this one episode, Zoobotnik, in which it featured a villainess, Katella The Huntress, who is the most underrated Sonic character of all time.  I found her costume appealing (including the circlet she wears on her forehead), and I found it amusing to see her with Dr. Robotnik/Eggman (I believe this is the only time I will ship Eggman with anyone else; besides Sera/Sara from the OVA, of course).  The English shows were not as appealing, but at least I got some insight after watching a few episodes.
I think I like both works because they are related in many ways, even though the Transformers originated in the 1980′s, and Sonic The Hedgehog originated in the 1990′s, among many other differences.  I really like extraterrestrial characters, but I also like Mecha robots (especially sentient robots).  Maybe I like Transformers even more than Sonic The Hedgehog.
Another thing these two have in common is their voice actors, who appeared in both works; seiyuu are more prominent.  Here is a list of English voice actors first, and then I will go with the Japanese voices:

- Charlie Adler (Silverbolt in The Transformers (1984-1987), and Starscream in the live-action films (2007-2011); Snively in Sonic SatAM)

- Aoi Yuki (Windblade in Transformers: Cyberverse, and Shatter in Bumblebee (2018); Sticks The Jungle Badger in Sonic Boom, and the female Avatar in Sonic Forces)
Like I said, Sonic and Transformers have a lot in common, but they are unique in their own ways.  Maybe I like Transformers the most because it was from the 1980′s (which, by the way, is my favorite decade).  I wasn’t too much of a 1990′s fan, but I did like Sonic, which originated in the 1990′s.  So, I suppose Transformers is the winner, and Sonic The Hedgehog is in second place.
Well, that is all I will be saying for now.  I will be posting more soon, but I have other things to do, as well.  Stay tuned for more posts.
This is FirebirdTransAm68 signing out.

Okay Y’all, time for some reading recs!
Books. Most of these were some of my favorite series when I was younger and they’re still pretty amazing.
The Lost Years of Merlin by T.A.Barron. The series follows a teenage Merlin as he fights to save his magical homeland of Fincarya. It’s an easy read, with several twists and has made me cry many times. And also, Merlin’s blind and can only see through his Second Sight.
The Song of The Lioness by Tamora Pierce. Ten-year-old Alanna doesn’t want to become a fine lady somewhere. She wants to be a knight. So she switches places with her twin brother and goes to the palace disguised as her twin brother Thom. The quartet follows her journey into knighthood and beyond. (There’s two following quartets, a prequel trilogy and several other books all set in the same world and yes, they’re all pretty awesome.)
The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander. Do you like sorcery, swordfights and magical pigs? Do you like undead warriors, character growth, sassy princesses and a bittersweet ending that still makes me cry? Then you’re going to love this series! Taran is just a foundling farmboy who longs for a great destiny. And then the magical pig he takes care of runs away.
Discworld by Terry Pratchett. The Discworld is a flat disc carried on the backs of four giant elephants standing on the back of a turtle soaring through space. The Discworld has wizards, witches, dwarves, trolls, goblins and Death. You guys, I cannot even BEGIN to tell you how much I love this series. I read it this past year and holy crap it was so good! It’s well written, funny, a joy to read and every now and then there will be line that will make you put the book down and stare in the abyss for a while.
The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents by Terry Pratchett. If you’re not sure if you want to read all forty some books in the Discworld series, then I at least beg you to read this book. Yes, it is part of the world, but not really connected to any of the other books. Maurice is a talking cat trying to get rich by running Pied Piper scams with a group of talking rats and a boy who just wants to play music. I have read this book so many times and there are still lines that make me cry just because holy shit they’re so good.
Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaimon. Yes, another Pratchett book. An angel and a demon make a deal to try and stop the ten-year-old Anti-Christ from bringing about the Apocalypse. This is a really fun book that I love and have read it multiple times.
Ashlesha by Jer Keene ( @deadcatwithaflamethrower ). Rex didn’t plan on meeting the redhead at the bar and he certainly didn’t plan on falling in love with him. Now they’re on the run with Rex’s entire family, who are all crazy badasses and nothing in the world makes sense anymore. This is such an amazing book, you guys. It’s an action/romance/thriller/magic realism story and most of the character are Not White, plus most of them are some form of LGBT+ and I love each and every one of them. There are actually two versions of this book available. The R one has multiple sex scenes that are well-written and SAFE while still being sexy! The PG-13 one has fade-to-black moments instead. I haven’t personally read that version, but I’ve heard that it’s just as good! So if sex isn’t your thing or if it’s not safe for you to have that in your house, be sure to grab the PG-13 version.
There are SO MANY other books I could recommend, but I think I’ve leave you with these for now. Maybe I’ll make another post someday.
Now. On to the Fanfiction! (all of these are on AO3)
Harry Potter
Of a Linear Circle by Flamethrower- @deadcatwithaflamethrower. Holy shit, y’all. Were you every disappointed in the Harry Potter series? By the lack of any actual characters other than the main trio? By any non-Gryffindor getting shoved into little boxes on the side-lines? By EVERY SINGLE Slytherin being a comical villain? By Fudge’s incompetence and Dumbledore’s... everything? By everyone being straight and white? By no-one having a personality or story if it didn’t revolve around Harry? Well, guess what? FLAMETHROWER HAS ARRIVED TO FIX YOUR SHIT LIKE USUAL! It’s got time-travel, it’s got action, it’s got politics, it’s got actual plotting and real characters and snappy dialog and romance and friendship and family and holy shit, some harsh feels and it’s SO GOOD! They managed to write Snape into a character I don’t fucking hate and she does it so well! Please, please, PLEASE go check out this series! It’s not done yet, but it updates every Friday.
Star Wars
Double Agent Vader by Fialleril- @fialleril. A re-telling of the original trilogy if Darth Vader had been a double agent for the Rebellion. Nothing changes except the behind the scenes and you guys. Y’all. This series is beyond amazing. It focuses heavily on Anakin’s upbringing as a slave and what the author has done with the slave culture, the language and the deities is simply stunning. Sadly, the series is still ongoing NOT ABANDONED and I eagerly await the next update. Seriously, it’s so good. One of my all-time favorites.
Re-Entry by Flamethrower- @deadcatwithaflamethrower. After the second Death Star is destroyed at the end of Return of the Jedi, Obi-Wan is sent back in time to his sixteen-year-old self and now must relive his life, but changing things don’t necessarily make things better, they just make things different. Of course I had to put this one here. I’m pretty sure it’s reached deity level by now and it deserves it. Flamethrower is an incredible author and works their magic once again on this saga. The writing is amazing, the characters feel like actual people, the dialog is amazing, the plot is BREATH-TAKING, there are twists I never saw coming and it’s just SO GOOD! It does get very dark at some points so pay attention to the tags folks! She does a very good job of tagging everything or of warning you in the author notes. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read this series.
Marvel
Infinite Coffee and Protection Detail by owlet- @vmohlere. All the Asset knows is that it needs to keep the Target safe. This takes place after Captain America: the Winter Soldier. It’s a Bucky Barnes centric series that deals with his recovering from being the Winter Soldier, while also trying to keep Steve safe without Steve knowing that he’s keeping him safe. It’s funny and sweet and has made me cry several times. I have re-read this series multiple times and I love it very much.
If you want something for Daredevil, I would suggest basically everything by ChuckleVoodoos.
Everything by scifigrl47- @scifigrl47. Their stuff is funny, well-written and the feels sneak up on you and then punch you in the face in the best way.
Maggie Fitzgerald and the Saltwater Drip by antistar. A Spider Gwen origin story that I absolutely LOVE and have read many, many times.
That’s all for now! Again, there are countless others that I love, but these are some of my all-time favorites, so I hope you enjoy some of them!
