Me, already watching 3 or so shows: I'm gonna rewatch HoA s2

Ok so I finished Wednesday on wednesdaay (very funny ik) but it took me till now to fully process everything that happened so now Imma rant about it

So after that first scene with Tyler, I honestly couldn't tell if Hunter wasn't a great actor or if Tyler was just shy

of course after like 2 episodes it was obvious he was a good actor buuuuutt i still wasn't entirely convinced

honestly what i love about the show is how every time I'm so sure about something it's like "haha you thought you was smart bish well guess what"

but I did have some predictions that turned out true

like about Thornhill

from 2nd episode i knew she was gonna try and kill Wednesday or something

she just seemed too nice and there to be a good character

and when they wanted us to think that Weems was the killer? no way i didn't believe it for a second

and i had a feeling that tyler was the monster around 6th-7th episode

still didn't lessen the shock

but I did think that Xavier was behind it for a while

i thought that maybe he drew the monster and brought it to life but i had doubts cus when he brought the spider to life and Wednesday smushed it it disappeared into smoke

so after coming to that conclusion i was positive it wasn't him

okie then now about the ships:

now i know everyone is shipping Wednesday and Enid

but i just don't

there's this feeling i have when i think a couple would be great together and i just don't have it with them

but i do ship Enid and Ajax i just think they're really cute together

i also shipped Wyler really hard until the final episode

don't get me wrong i still ship them but i also have this feeling that i won't anymore

still waiting for s2 to decide on that ship

i also think Bianca and Lucas i think his name was would make a cute couple

(sorry for my terrible transitions from topic to topic)

but there are a few scenes i keep replaying

like when Enid hugged Wednesday and Wednesday pushed her away a bit before hugging her back tightly? MAH HARRT CAN'T HANDLE EEETTT

and when Tyler was all like "What does it feel like...to lose?" HUNTER IS SUCH AN AMAZING ACTOR THAT JUST THE TINIEST CHANGE IN HIS FACIAL EXPRESSION AND POSTURE HAD THAT EFFECT

and when Wednesday started crying cus she thought that Thing died

Hey im not good with words or english, but its ok to feel burnt out or tired. Youre not obligated to provide anything to us. You are an author who writes for free. Maybe to have fun maybe to express yourself. You have your own life and thats a good thing. I havent been playing genshin in a while because theres so much work i need to do there like building characters. I havent watched link click s2 because i cant bring myself to sit down for that long. Im sure everyone has something like this happening to them and i just remind myself that it doesnt matter that much. Post unfinished things, make your character builds crap, dont finish a book youve started it doesntmatter. Its about having fun. Its about forgetting your problems(at least for me) or its about spending time with your online friends. Taking a break is necessary. Spending time for yourself is necessary. Taking care of yourself is necessary. I hope i could get my message across. I cant even take my own advice seriously as im too scared to post this without anon but i hope i was able to make you feel better somehow. I also want to say i really love your works even if i dont know who the person you’re writing about is. Ive been following your works for a while and i dont regret it one bit. I would be pretty sad if you were to stop writing for certain people but if it makes you feel happy then i dont mind and im sure others wouldn’t mind it as well. Youre free to do whatever you want ( as long as youre not intruding on other peoples freedom obviously) thank you for reading my wordvomit written in an attempt to comfort you.

first of all, your message got across. i'm not sure about your english being not good part, but really, your message resonates with me on a level deeper than language can ever explain, truly.

i appreciate your kind reminder that i shouldn't feel obliged to write for anyone. i honestly feel like it's eating me out because i put myself in the equation as well. i had been a writer before, back when tokyo revengers (anime) was still in its first season since i'm more of a manga reader. if you were in that era, you might came across my work. alas, things happened. what used to be good memories (including writing) turned into very hurtful ones and i stopped doing what i love because they're causing me so much pain. nonetheless, i still slowly died inside. it took me a while to be at peace with my past and understand that writing is what makes me the person i am. so i'm determined to start again and keep it up. but when life gets in the way and hold me back from writing (again), it depresses me. (including not playing genshin). honestly, i'm feeling lonely. what and who i used to know and love seemed to only exist in the past. people moved on, topics became irrelevant, relationship broke. which i don't blame, but it still makes me cry once in a while.

sorry for the traumadump uh- i feel like i should explain myself a little. i hope that didn't scare you too much. but anyway, you're right! i should do whatever i want. maybe i need to reframe my perspective. i love that you mention about reading book thingy because i have the same issue and yes, i'm a reader through and through. but it's been so long since i read.. the irony. maybe all i need to do is start. and love myself a bit more to stop torturing myself with unnecessary thoughts..

hi, cutie!! right now i'm mostly looking forward to things that have finished airing haha, like a few jbls and dangerous romance. if it's a jbl released this year - i want it. the last bl i finished watching was, iirc, taikan yoho and i haven't been interacting with the fandom on here in terms of commentary in months. i've been out of the loop so getting this question makes me very excited and flattered but also a lil sad cause i might not have anything of substance to say.

i'm not too sure what is coming up in terms of shows but last twilight is smth that i hope i get to keep up with! @stormyoceans managed to get and keep me excited about it so that could be a bit of a comeback for me. i dare not be excited for supposed 2024 gmm releases for now (except maybe for the kieta hatsukoi adaptation uwu) and i'm not really aware of what the other companies are putting out.. oh, i am interested in middleman's love! although i never actually watched bed friend, idk why i'm so interested in tutoryim considering i never even finished cutie pie but here we are 😄

as for other media - i'm interested in how ofmd s2 ends; i kinda want to watch miyazaki's the boy and the heron because it's gonna be released in cinemas here! trying to hype myself up to go to the movies alone lol; i'd like to watch a nice regular jdrama, maybe something like beni sasu life :) my happy marriage are a movie and an anime i'd like to get into as well; and lucky my love seems like it'd be to my taste!

anyways, there are plenty of fun shows out there, both older and newer <3 i personally have no desire to watch a lot of stuff so there are no personal recs i can give you about recent or upcoming shows. the dash seems to be full of lots of opinionated bloggers who are keeping up with everything that's currently airing so i'm sure goof stuff are being released and there's def a lot that you're going to like! sometimes synopses don't sound too promising but the series turn out to be really enjoyable so keep an open mind ☺️ in any case i can always recommend older stuff..? if you crave smth in particular i'm alwaysss open to digging through my lists💕💓💞 that being said, i get the desire to watch new stuff as they're being a topic of discussion in the fandom and it's a lot of fun so i'll encourage you to pick a few random shows - varying by country, genre, cast, company, and try to keep up with them weekly. maybe also look into het dramas or even anime? western series? books or games? sometimes you may need a palette cleanser and if the current catalog of upcoming bls isn't really doing it for you, direct your attention elsewhere for a minute. that's what i'm kinda doing rn after a bit of a burnout and it feels good. just mix it up <3

if you're reading THIS section, i assume you want to know a little more about me! which is... really flipping cool, actually. i hope you'll want to stick around!

like i said at the beginning, i go by snoots on here. i've been sticking my nose in tumblr since about 2019, and i've been involved in a couple of fandoms (i'll go into detail later!). i've had my fair share of ups and downs in life, and i'm so happy to be able to put a part of my experience out in the world!

i'm a trans dude (my pronouns are he/him), and i identify as demisexual and panromantic. to sum it up, that means i feel like a dude, and that if i feel attraction at all, it's towards someone i have an emotional connection with. gender doesn't matter for me. i'm trying to get hormone therapy, but it's really hard to get to that point in my country at the moment. i... also plan on getting top surgery. someday.

now, for some of my fandom history so that we're on the same page...

undertale and its au's were a big part of my life since about 2017, however i'm no longer actively a part of the fandom anymore. i try to keep up with a few fanfictions and comics that aren't quite finished yet, but that's just about it. i lost interest for a vareity of reasons, but for the most part, i left it behind because it symbolised a difficult period for me. leaving the fandom behind is to this day one of the best things i've ever done for myself.

rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles and the 2012 tmnt are so dear to me oh my heavens. i grew up with the 2012 version, and it was the perfect series to me as a kid. especially at the time, kid's shows (or better said, the ones i was allowed to watch) didn't have the kind of maturity that tmnt did, and little ol' me absorbed the angst and the plot like a sponge. i wasn't aware that tmnt was actually a sort of 'remake' (i can't even call it a remake, this is tmnt we're talking about) until i discovered rise. rise was just pure fun for me. it had a few emotional moments, absolutely, but it's still without a doubt a comedy. and guess who discovered the show right after the movie came out? me. i did. and it ruined me /hj.

the owl house is the show that child me would have needed the most. i don't have much to say about it yet because i want to wait until s3 is done, but lemme tell you, once it's done i don't think i'll be able to shut up. i found out about it after s1 was done but before s2 started.

inside job is just a fun little series that i adore as it is. i don't even want to say that i'm 100% a part of the fandom because i have essentially nothing to say about it. i love it as it is!

and just to mention a few other things that i'm interested in...

i play the guitar, and i'm planning on learning the e-bass and ukelele! i usually just cover songs for myself, but i occasionally write some music as well. in the future i hope to learn the drums and maybe the piano as well, but that's a long way's away.

the human race is fascinating to me. medicine, psychology and history are some of my favorite things to learn about. there's always something else to know!

literature and art. i'm not quite sure how to elaborate on these.

hey, this is a little update on season 3 of designated survivor:

after watching the first four episodes in may (which i was slightly dissappointed by), i brought myself to finish watching that season, probably nobody cares about this, but i have a lot of things to say:

first i wanna talk a bit about the storyline of s3: i was not a fan of it. for me, it seemed like they wanted to "recreate" or "replace" the conspiracy of s1 with this bio-weapon kind of storyline. i am just speaking of myself, somebody, whos not interested in biology, ig seemed unnecessary to be put into a political show. the true believers storyline was highly interesting and it was more "politics" related and it maybe got people to watch the show. (i hope you know what i mean) it was random and not understandable why hannah wells died. so many characters that appeared in the previous seasons were either killed or scripted off and why did they do this to her? after everything shes been through, after all of her friends she lost, she would have deserved a happy ending.

one thing that i was missing a lot were political actions, negotiations etc. compared to the first two seasons. i feel like they focused a lot more on the private life of the characters like aaron, emily etc. which per se isnt bad, but it is just something i did not enjoy that much. emily went through so much in this season, which is obviously terrible, she deserves a lot better. since ever i was not a big fan of aaron and i will not be after this season. of course he deserves to be vice president, but the thing with emily and isabel ruined his character even more for me. isabel wasnt my favourite, but i honestly felt bad for her, because her boyfriend cheated on her.

tom kirkman. he is one of my favourite characters in the entire show, because he is a very rational, diplomatic and overall truly like and lovable character. compared to s1 and s2, s3 tom mutated more and more to a "real" politician. he lost his temper at least once in each episode. s3 tom is not the tom we know. idk if i am allowed to say this, but they ruined his character. it kinda felt that he all he wanted is to be re-elected and he forgot everything he was working for in earlier years. if you dissagree, please let me know and it is absolutely fine to have a different opinion :) if i only had seen s3 tom, he would have not been in my top 3 designated survivor characters as i wrote, his personality was not it for me and i am not talking about his personaliy constantly changed in s3, we got to see some "old" tom content as well (for example at his first campaign in ep1 i think). it was just something that bothered me.

not to be all negative about it, i actually liked the soundtrack of s3. soundtracks are usually part of netflix shows that are good.

the election/campaign theme we got to see in the entire season was a good idea. political campaigns are something special to me, as i am not from the us, because its incredible how celebration and partylike they are, and it is interesting to watch as a non-american. but there was still a lack of "political" aspects of the election (the electoral college etc.) and we never got to see how many votes tom got. to be fair with everybody tom and aaron really deserved to be elected. (and we finally would have a vice president again!) it was really sweet when penny announced that tom was re-elected <3 on the other hand i would have loved to see more suspense around the election outcomes, like it is in reallife (and how it was at the 2020 election, even non-americans were consantly checking the news) and i missed this part of a presidential election in a political show as his re-election and campaigning was the overall topic of the third season, they missed election day.

episode 10, aka the last episode, was literally one of the most confusing and weirdest episodes in my opinion, maybe because i did not pay that much attention as this season kinda bored me. it is not the best idea to talk that much about it, since not a lot of storylines kept sticking to my mind. the ending was like an open book to me, i still have a lot of questions about what happened: what happened to lorraine, myles, (i think his name was; the guy who worked for moss) emily and isabel? i feel like they wanted to put everything in the last moments of the episode, as the end felt kinda rushed and not put togetehr that well.

in one of my previous posts i said, that i am mad about the intro song change, which is till somehow am, but i got used to the new intro and now i like it tbh.

i dont know whether anybody in this small fandom is willed to read my entire post, i usually am a person who likes to share their opinion with others (on most topics). anyways feel free to share your opinion if you want to :D everything in this post is my own opinion, so its fine if you dissagree with me, everybody has different opinions, especially when it comes to things like tv shows, movies, music etc. i hope it's still valid that i am saying designated survivor is one of my fave shows <3 if somebody is reading this, i will be happy knowing it was worth it writing this long post :) <3

Guess I’ll give my thoughts on the WEP special then!

To be honest, I’ve really lost faith in Cloverworks as a series. The Promised Neverland Season 2 was the first red flag for many, I know, but I really feel like since they’ve split off from A-1 Pictures (who was their parent company) they’ve really struggled. Although I did not watch TPN 2, I’ve heard that their adaption of Shadowshouse (which I was watching), cut something major out from the manga, which made fans worried it was going to go the anime original route. The ending to other shows they’ve done, like Balance: Unlimited, also have been shakey. Probably the only series I can think of in recent memory by them that wasn’t disappointing was Horimiya, which I think is really more of a testament to the directors and the rest of the production staff. Although, Horimiya was a well established work for years that was pretty easy to adapt (while TPN had just finished, WEP was original, Shadowshouse is ongoing, and FKBU was based on a novel so it was more of an original in Cloverworks’ hands) with it being a romance story that didn’t have any mystery or crazy plot, the ending had a lot of little details that to me showed the director always had a vision for how to control and guide the series.

It’s sad for me to say that besides that, I really just think Cloverworks as a studio in going to continue to create shows that are going to end disappointingly or suffer from crunch time. It’s become more and more commonplace to see that anime studios are reaching out on Twitter at the last minute to hire animators that are overseas to finish key animation that they can’t do in house. Throughout WEP’s run, I did see a lot of the Japanese animators posting their work on Twitter, but today when I went to look up WEP after the special, the first thing I saw was someone talking about how they were an interpreter and translator on the final episode (FARfromani on Twitter) . I won’t pretend to know the actual process that went on behind the scenes, but to me it’s very concerning to see that this COULD be another case of anime studios with poor time management and overworking their staff. Cloverworks isn’t the only one guilty of this, in fact the biggest offender is MAPPA (watch Canipa Effect’s Studio Spotlight for more info), but it is truly sad to see that so many creative works are going to suffer as a result of these conditions.

A few months ago, I claimed that Cloverworks may have decided to sacrifice TPN S2 in order to ensure Wonder Egg Priority didn’t fail when it had such an important message to share. I hate to have to think that now Cloverworks had to sacrifice WEP in favor of another franchise, but it’s possible. Although the finale was beyond disappointing, there were still some aspects I liked. I’m somewhat okay with the idea of the theme being that “you can’t get all the answers” especially concerning why people died, why people choose to die. Rather, I WOULD’VE been okay with it had Momo & Rika’s trauma been not so cleanly fixed and have them living their normal lives again. I would’ve been happy had the girls not come back, if they had not truly been resurrected. I think that some people might have some issues with what we learned about Koito today, but I actually kind of liked it? Mainly because I had a story idea years ago and Koito’s issues were very similar to that idea, so it was reassuring to see other people explore that topic from another perspective. Still, there were many things wrong with it, and it’s execution. And I wished there had been more.

Anyway, I can’t say I’ll be looking forward to whatever else Cloverworks puts out! Thank you to everyone who read and reblogged my theories back when WEP was airing, I’ll still be here to discuss stuff and other animes to come!

Top 5 Most Hated Characters

As y’all can see, this week’s T5F is a request sent in by anon. I picked it because I guess at the time I thought it would be fun to explore some of TWDG’s least popular, and most hated, characters while also taking into account characters that I can’t stand. 

These are characters that the vast majority of us don’t like or downright despise for many different reasons. None of us are going out of our ways to defend most of these bastards, and anyone who is I get the impression they’re doing so for the sake of being Different™... though while looking around for info about these characters and what people were saying about them, I did find myself in some odd places.... come across, eh... odd fanart. 

But I guess this is the part where I say this is all in good fun and if you happen to be a legit stan of any of these people, that’s cool. Maybe you can answer some of my questions as to why??

Okay, when I said that I found myself in odd places, it turns out that Nate actually has a bit of a fanbase. It’s not big or anything, from what I can tell, but big enough for me to question why because I was under the impression that we all agreed that this dude sucks.

Seriously, I would’ve put him higher on this list if I hadn’t discovered this handful of people making fanart for him and claiming him as a comfort character. While I find that an odd choice, you do whatever makes you feel comforted, y’know? Just would like to understand why. 

As for the rest of us, he’s terrible. Every time I go back to 400 days, he’s someone I never look forward to seeing. I’ve even tried not getting in the truck with him while playing Russell’s story, but in true Telltale fashion, you’re forced to drive along with this creep. 

Red flags start going off when Russell’s sharing his story about his previous group, something you can tell left some trauma with him, and Nate is just weirdly fixated on the girl Russell liked. Like yeah okay dude, I get it, it’s the apocalypse and you haven’t had any action for a while but oh my god. 

Then the whole walker thing that almost gets Russell chomped is annoying. Oh, and how could I forget about how it’s implied that he attacked the old couple before and was there to finish them off, which he does no matter what and it’s not great. 

Hell, he even uses the line Russell gave him but it’s worse because crazy eyes. And if you don’t say anything, Nate murders them right there without a thought and then continues to be a real creep. Fuck this guy. 

As the wise Eddie once said, “I don’t what that guy in my life, man!” 

4. The Stranger

Hey, have I ever mentioned how much this dude sucks? 

I don’t even have to tell you why he’s on this list. We all know the obvious reasons-- manipulated and kidnapped Clementine, which caused Lee to get bit by a walker and fucking die. No one here is white-knighting for this dipshit. 

Sure, it sucks what the Stranger went through. He lost his family and that would be enough to drive anyone up the wall. I mean, just look at Kenny. But this dude, okay. Look. Listen. I can only feel so bad for you when you lost your son on a hunting trip that your wife told you not to go on, then when you went looking for him, you literally left the car unlocked and running for anyone to come across. Then you come back and gasp. So your wife leaves you for being a moron... then when you find her dead, you cut off her head and keep it like a damn bowling ball because...??

At least that’s what I get from it. The writers probably should’ve done a better job with explaining what the hell happened but y’know. 

That’s not the only reason no one likes this guy. Oh no, you also add to the pile that the Stranger himself is dull. As a character, the dude is just.... boring. And I get that’s probably what they were going for with the whole “I’m just a guy, but you ruined my life and made me this way.” 

However, when you set him up the way you did with the talks over the walkie and the stalking, I was expecting a bit more personality outta this loaf of soggy bread. But no... boring yet crazy. Interesting combo and I’m afraid it doesn’t work. 

3. Larry

Larry?? On a list of most hated characters?? Nooo...

Yeah, surprise. Larry also sucks. Stop the presses. 

Larry is a pain in the ass to deal with for two episodes, constantly belittling the people around him and treating his daughter like shit. Oh, and don’t forget how he behaves towards Lee even if you try to be as nice as possible. Nope, he doesn’t care, he still thinks Lee is garbage and will continue threatening to reveal Lee’s secret to the group. Who cares if that could fuck up the dynamic and endanger the group? Larry sure doesn’t. 

Until the very end, this dude is just a splinter in the foot. By the time you get to the meat locker and he has a heart attack, you’re not gonna save him because you think he’ll be better if he survives. No, you’re attempting to save him for Lilly and Clementine’s sake, and if you don’t even care about that, you siding with Mr. Family Man to smash his head in. 

Not only is he a soiled diaper, he also don’t have much personality outside of asshole. He has maybe two moments where he’s shown to be just a bit chill? I mean, Lilly tells us that he has a lot of pain and that’s why he’s like this.... but that doesn’t excuse his behavior. 

Oh, and can’t forget that apparently he was obsessed with Lilly leaving the lights on so he let the power get cut, so Lilly couldn’t eat ice cream and had to let her hair air dry like a heathen. Unforgivable. 

So yeah, fuck Larry. 

2. Troy

Ugh, Troy. Fuck this guy. 

No really, out of all TWDG characters, this dude and my #1 pick are my most hated. Can’t stand Troy and the only reason I didn’t do a tie for #1 is because for a split second, Troy does show a tiny bit of humanity when Carver is beating down Carver, but blink and you’ll miss it.

Which had me a little concerned to find a handful of posts about having crushes on Troy and drawing fanart but.... again, I guess you do you? And if you can, please explain why because I honestly don’t understand. 

Just looking at the screenshot of him annoys him. He’s got one of those punchable faces, y’know? 

Anyway, when playing as Clementine, I’m always worried that he’s gonna pop up outta no where and grab her by the neck like he does later in ep3, even though I’ve played s2 a bunch to know that he’s not going to. 

But hell, he doesn’t need any excuse to smack anyone around, and there are a handful of times he can really hurt Clem depending on her choices. 

Not great, dude. 

Can’t say I’m too sorry that Jane shot your dick off. 

1. Badger

Yeah, you guys remember Badger. Y’know.... the man who murdered Mariana then laughed about it, claiming that he enjoyed watching her head explode and would do it again and again if he could? 

That’s what puts him at #1. He may not have the most screen time like Larry or Troy, but when he is around, he’s fucking awful.

He gets joy from killing Mariana, like it’s some sort of sick thrill for him to go around murdering children and other innocent people. 

Remember Francine? Caught her and used her as bait to try and get Javi to come down, and even went as far as to have some fingers cut off. Like, he gets off on destroying people, entire communities.

Shit, he seems to even get off to his own beat down. 

He’s fucking gross and outta everyone on this list, I haven’t found a single person being like “Yeah, he’s garbage but I like him kinda?” like no, you’re such garbage that even the Different™ crowd don’t want you. 

Fuck Badger. 

By the way, if you’ve never had Conrad kill him in your game, I suggest looking it up. It’s pretty good. Gives Conrad a little bit of closure after what happened to Francine, as well as give Javi some closure for Mari’s murder. 

Not a single soul wept for you, Badger.

so while lazily scrolling the tags again, i didn’t see much new stuff except the same old things (which, tbh, is what my anxiety needs rn so thanks). yet this is not what i am up to talk about again so let’s cut to the chase:

my personal input to the whole “s 3 is total trash“ debate. 

first of all, as long as people don’t bother each other about their preferences, i couldn’t care less.

people are entitled to their own opinions and it’s fine like that. that’s how discussions are made and encourage us to share more ideas and dwell deeper into matters. however, some of my friends that recently watched psycho pass (because I need more people to talk about it and convinced them to giving it a try. though I had them all skip s2 out of worry to loose them there ahah) have kept asking me in regards of the commonly used argument against s3, namely being the lack of literary input. and as a local lit/phil major, this is up my alley to answer I suppose? i’ll try to keep it short and watered down.

it has to be made very clear that season 3 is a whole lot more political in its core themes, which is a major motif in all things cyberpunk. futuristic utopias/dystopias always have a heavy correlation with the political doings of past and present, and while we know painfully little about the past (leading up to sybil’s establishment, more precisely) we have been given insights about the present - namely an ex-idol with extremely questionable traits being voted for governor, despite publicly being outed for just a face behind an AI that does all the talking. basically, it’s gone to hell. we been knew. (don’t even ask how my political science friend felt about it, she can write a 90 page essay about what political trash fire is about to break loose). so, whether it was s3 or not, sooner of later the psycho pass world had to talk about the politics of their world- japan isn’t just made out existential crisis and talking weapons, after all. 

i do not know how many active readers in terms of philosophy are in this fandom, but as a major in it, i should tell you guys that the most likely reason as to why there apparently isn’t much philosophy going around in s3 is because of those very politics. political philosophy is a big topic in general, but in s3 the aspect of artificial intelligence is added into the mix and as of now, there isn’t that many reliable texts, dare I say?, in the regards of AI in politics, from a philosophic point of view. at least as of now. the discussion itself has started and is ongoing, and a few publications have been made already (i personally only know of the german ones, feel free to share whatever international texts you guys have your hands on), however, if we look at it historically and consider that AI hasn’t been taken that serious until a decade and a little more ago (around the time siri and co became a daily thing) we might have to wait a little longer for more publications to pop up. majority of what is out right now is hypothetical talks from several years ago, which isn’t up-to-date in most cases and hence kinda hard to use for a fictional society in 2120. and if you read through the more timeless ones, you’ll realise that a good portion of what those publications talked about has been kinda talked about in s1 already. and from a story telling pov, there is only so much you can put things on repeat. everybody that expects discussions from s1 to reoccur to the same extent as when they occurred first, i have bad new for you; the chances are kinda slim. s1 itself was planned to be a one-time thing anyways, which is why the discussions that had been begun there were also sort of finished there, leaving some space for viewers to think further for themselves. you cannot expect them to recycle all that again without being accused of unoriginality (again). and with the digital age becoming more and more established in our current days, i think it was a safe guess to go with the political themes for the recent season.

as a lit major and lover, lemme tell y’all, I wanna rip apart s3 for many annoying mistakes/illogical moves in storytelling they did, but alas, who wants to read a raging rosie these days? as a phil major though i think it should be said that what s3 did was pick a topic that is currently in discussion and on the uprising globally, and on top of that, this is going from the european/american scene. i do not know how the japanese philosophy scene is working with this topic as of now, so its possible that while going for the political route and the will-gibson-reminiscent AI theme, they simply had too little input to work into the season. at least without avoiding major controversies (bcs people tend to steer away from an epoch’s early texts for the longest time due to possible radical views that, if disagreed with fatally, can turn into digging your own grave which, as a show that has to make profit to continue being funded, is the very thing you should NOT do).

with this input, you guys go ahead and merrily continue your discussions (respectfully, please!). and let me know if you want to read a raging rosie go aggretsuko on s3’s literary composure and how it drives me up the wall.

Early Swallows: Season 2 Updates

More information and some interesting facts about Season 2 of Early Swallows aka Pershi Lastivky.

Season 2 is called Early Swallows: Addicted/Dependent (I guess we’ll see whether Addicted or Dependent fits more once the show starts).

The main cast will be second year Uni students.

In Season 1, parents/adults were huge part of the story and could be considered as main characters, whereas in Season 2 characters will still be affected by their parent-child bond BUT parents won’t be eating up much screentime this time around.

This season will be more adult-er, it will deal with addiction/dependency on drugs, other people, social status (rich vs poor), judgments but also sex addiction (BDSM included).

LGBT storyline is officially confirmed but the showrunner’s wording was a bit weird because he said: “There will be а storyline about drugs, about LGBT, but with adults/grown-ups, not teenagers, and we will also focus on the topic of sexual addiction.” After reading it a few times, how I understood is that he draw a contrast between S1 and S2 meaning that they already dealt with drugs and LGBT before with teenagers in Season 1 but now it will be different – as in with adults/grown-ups, hopefully? Because I ain’t about to watch some random side parent character getting an LGBT storyline.

Actually, the “Friend” storyline will be somehow brought back or mentioned but it won’t be one of the main storylines.

Now onto some interesting facts: The showrunner initially wrote a script for Season 2 as a direct continuation of Season 1 but hated it so much and how it dragged out that he deleted it and decided to go with the anthology format instead because 95% of the storylines were already finished anyway in Season 1.

Normal casting was held for EVERY character and actor, that included the Season 1 cast as well in order to see if they would handle the new characters – the showrunner said that most of them were successful meanwhile some weren’t so lucky (possibly the actresses that played Polina and Liera in Season 1 which again, makes me think that those two newcomer actresses will play characters that would be otherwise played by Polina and Liera actresses... JUST a speculation of mine but maybe they weren’t able to handle the wlw roles IF those two characters will be actually lesbians after all?).

The showrunner doesn’t care about the ratings, but he cares about the social impact (the show cooperated with some organization connected to suicide hotlines and it was showed that thanks to the show, 20 000 Ukrainian people were saved/used the hotline), therefore he’s frank with what he puts out and isn’t scared to show stuff Ukrainian TV wouldn’t show otherwise and the same goes for upcoming Season 2.

OHH--- this is an interesting question. I do have a few that I just enjoy (and still enjoy) so much so I'll go with those.

First and foremost, Anne With An E still has my heart. I kid you not, I rewatched s1 and s2 about three or four times before s3 aired because my family members kept getting into at different times and no matter what I was down to rewatch it. It is just so special to me. I think it took a classic and truly understood how to manifest the series in a way that kept a lot of the heart of it whilst adding some new things. I didn’t agree with every choice, but man I don’t think a show has made me cry so much before. It showcased all types of relationships so beautifully and I just loved that. It will forever a comfort watch for me and I still get the urge to rewatch it more than any other show. This would probably be the only one that I am thoroughly convinced everyone should watch but I’ll list more anyways because I’m on tangent mode lmao.

It’s a cartoon, but ATLA is good ish. I know people sometimes don’t want to bother with watching a cartoon, but it’s just genuinely filled with such good storytelling and legitimately solid character growth that I just think makes it stand out compared to a lot of shows that seem to always fall flat towards the end. I still adore all three seasons of that show with all my heart and Toph will always be my favorite character ever. Would not recommend the sequel series to it though, it doesn’t really add to it at all. Better just sticking to the original. Never ever make yourself suffer through the live adaption either. 

I really enjoyed the series Chuck. The plot was interesting and it was just a fun watch and the main couple DELIVERED when it came to fake dating trope--- the yearning between the two was everything. I also just really like Zachary Levi so that helped lmao.

If you’re into anime, I’m gonna go be like the a good deal of others and wholeheartedly recommend Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. A rather dark series but SUCH a good watch. I enjoyed it so much.

 For some reasons those are the only ones that come to mind rn that I can wholeheartedly recommend that aren’t like--- kdramas. Probably because kdramas are easier to remember in their entirety since they’re only usually between 16 to 20 episodes.

On the topic of kdramas, here are some recs that I’ll put them in a bulleted list since I have more than I do other shows

While You Were Sleeping - It was such a good watch for me and I was so sad when I finished it. I don’t cry for shows a lot (despite me crying about some of this rec list lmao) but this one definitely got me towards the end. 

W: Two Worlds - It’s got an interesting plot and I really enjoyed watching it. It had a lot going on so the ending may not be quite as ideal as one could hope, but I thoroughly enjoyed the journey.

Hello Monster - A crime romcom that is a mix of funny but can turn dark at the drop of the hat and it is just SO good. The cast absolutely delivered in this one.

Moonlight Drawn by Clouds - For anyone that likes period dramas, I really enjoyed this one. It’s not as intense as other period dramas, but it does have a good combination of serious and playful and I enjoyed it a lot.

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo - It has been a MINUTE since I watched this but I remember it making me feel a lot of feels and it dealt with lots of stuff that I felt was relatable so I just really, really enjoyed it. It’s based in a college setting so some may not be interested in it but it is one that really hit me.

Pinnochio - It was one of the first I got into and that ish hurt my feelings a lot. It’s a wild plot and it’s kinda dark but it was so good that my mom and grandma even got begrudgingly invested lmao

I’ll leave it at that list because the other ones I like are probably more revolving around my own personal taste and I don’t think they would be as enjoyable to many as I think the ones listed can be.

What do you think of David and Matteo? I just finished season 3 but I’m disappointed. The story was a little weak. I liked that they dealt with the topic of transgender but that’s it. David barely had screen time and their love story was undeveloped for me. So far, I have only seen the OG and the French version. I loved both. Maybe my expectations were just high.

well if you loved the french version then I'm not surprised you didn't like Druck's s3. It seems that many people love either/or and there's a certain rivalry between the druck fandom and the skam france (and skam italia) fandom. I think it depends on what kind of stories you prefer and normally watch and what you expect from a skam-like tv show. People say Druck is boring and people say Skam France is overdramatic. As someone who's from a country neighbouring Germany and who spend in Germany a semester studying, Druck always felt like coming home to me. Like I watched it from the very first clip of S1 and when I saw Jonas and Hanna and Matteo they felt so german, so normal, so everyday teenagers that I was instantly hooked.

So I personally loved Druck's s3. It might be because it caught me in a particularly hard time in my life and I was almost hyperfixating on it, maybe because from the very first scene back in s1 I've loved Matteo so much and was anticipating his season from the start or maybe because I have quite a few trans friends and therefore was feeling this story a bit more personally then I would have otherwise. After a stellar s2 my expectations were high and s3 have met them if not surpassed them in most cases. I connected to Matteo a lot and David has become one of my favourite characters of all time. Especially when I saw his kindness. I'm always drawn towards characters and people that are kind. You are right that David doesn't have much screentime (especially in 2nd half of the season) but idk I didn't felt that the story was underdeveloped. Maybe if I rewatched it this time I'd feel differently but watching it live I didn't felt it was underdeveloped just that they should have done episode 8 differently (goddamn that episode and it's weird pacing I'm still mad what was that?). Idk maybe it's one of those things where you had to be there (as in watching it live at that time). But also I think me and you might just have different tastes in terms of what we want from the media we consume. Like I love quiet films. I love asian cinema because it's so quiet and minimalistic, I love minimalistic acting. I love quiet acting. Like I like films that people would categorize as “nothing happens there”. So for me s3 is exactly my cup of tea because I was just sitting there with Matteo and his depression and I was just sitting there watching these two boys fall in love, mesmerized by it. Maybe you like things that are more dramatic, more action-driven, you like big gestures and things to be passionate and driven? And there's nothing wrong with that. It's just a different style. After all Art is subjective.

Anyway thank you for coming here to talk to me and I'm sorry that the season has been disappointing for you. I know it sucks when you come to a show that's being praised by some and you just don't really understand why because you don't connect with it.
