Taki ongoy II (English lyrics)  MERCEDES SOSA  (Argentinean, 1935 - 2009)
Taki Unquy (also, Taqui Ongoy, Taki Oncoy, etc.) was an indigenous movement of complex dimensions which arose in the Peruvian Andes during the 16th century (c. 1564 - c. 1572) in opposition to the recent Spanish invasion. The movement combines political, religious and cultural elements that make its classification under western criteria difficult. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taki_Unquy In Quechua, a Native American language of South America, a huaca or waqa is an object that represents something revered, typically a monument of some kind. The term huaca can refer to natural locations, such as immense rocks. Some huacas have been associated with veneration and ritual. Andean cultures believed every object has a physical presence and two camaquen (spirits), one to create it & another to animate it. They would invoke its spirits for the object to function.

tango feroz (1993)
Argentina
Tumblr media
eng: Tango Feroz is an Argentinean film based (supposedly) on the life of one of the first Argentinean rock singer-songwriters, Tanguito; although, it's not hard to see, it's more of a fantasy than anything else. Despite the fact that Tango (Fernán Mirás), the protagonist, is far removed from the legendary composer, it's still a very good film, even cult film. With good cinematography, acting and, of course, music, Tango Feroz stands out among the films of the new Argentinean cinema of the 90s.

I know that everybody is hyped up with songs featured in the show/comic or modern ones that I know nothing about because I'm old (30s) and stuck in time which affects my musical taste
But can I offer you some new old songs that make me thing of The Sandman/Morpheus in this trying times?
The Police - King of Pain
Like... really? Nobody thought of this... it's in the freaking title!
Main reason: something, something about living in every little thing that exists and feeling all they feel.
Sting - A thousand years
I actually link this song to one of my own characters of a book I might never end but I cannot deny that the lyrics also apply here.
Main reason: something, something about living for years on end carrying love with you (even if is not reciprocated)
Adonais - The Cure
It's Robert Smith. Enough said.
Main reason: the whole lyric. Period.
Want - The Cure
Even more melancholic and self destructive than Morpheus would ever be... but it's a damned good song. (If you don't like long intros, you might skip this one)
Main reason: something, something about trying to feel and experiment all at once and not feeling anything at the same time.
Walking in my shoes - Depeche Mode
Yes... I grew up with a closeted dark/goth mom and aunt (meaning, they never went in for the aesthetic, neither do I but this songs, people!! They just speak to your soul)
Main reason: something something about a person sacrificing themselves for a greater good knowing that no-one will ever fully understand what they are going through.
From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea - The Cure
Yes, The Cure again... I love them... sue me.
And yes, another long intro because Robert is everything that is good in this world and can do with his music whatever the Hell he wants.
Main reason: something, something about ups and downs in a relationship that always leads to a broken heart and the attempt to move on.
En la Ciudad de la Furia - Soda Stereo.
I'm argentinean and Soda was our own The Police (fun fact, singer, guitarrist and songwriter Gustavo Cerati was asked to replace Sting when Andy Summers and Stewart Coppeland wanted to do a comeback as The Police).
You can find the translation to English in my long-abandoned main blog.
Main reason: something, something about an entity that lives (and doesn't) among humans.
Cuando pase el temblor - Soda Stereo
With the rythm of a carnavalito (folckloric music from Argentina's north-west) the song is about the upcoming end of everything. Translation here.
Main reason: something, something about feeling the end of the world coming soon and hoping to never have to speak about it anymore.
There are many others that at this moment I do not remember... but I will soon, so maybe I'll do a 2nd part... maybe... ????
Still I want to leave one more song in Russian that I haven't translated myself just yet but I know thanks to Google translator that it is about a certain Matvey (Mathew in Russian) that dies in his sleep and encounters Morpheus or, how the song calls him "The King of Eternal Sleep". Even though Mikhail Gorshenov said that he wrote it remembering the times when his family lived in a town were the weather was so cold that dying of hipothermia was a possibility (were you are just so cold that fall sleep and never wake up again), I have no doubts that he might've also read The Sandman by then... I mean... Mathew? Morpheus? A palace? Morpheus dressed in a coat and boots? Coincidence? I DON'T THINK SO! Sadly Mikhail Gorshenov died on 2013 so we will never have a chance to ask about it. (Note: the title's pronunciation is Karrol vyechnava sna)

Friend, I'd love for you to answer ANY of those questions! Answer any one or two you want (but I'm partial to 4 and 5, if you need a nudge!) 💕
!! Okay I can answer some of them! Let's start with those you're partial to!
(For anyone wondering: here's the ask list)
4. favourite dish specific for your country?
Okay so this is kind of hard because I like food?? so much?? I love empanadas, mostly the santiagueña variation (it's the one my aunt does and she is an amazing cook). For sweet things, Argentinean pastries in general unless they have custard cream lol, I'm partial to butter medialunas (smaller and sweeter than croissants but similar in shape), tortitas negras (they have black sugar on top, hence the name), cañoncitos (they are filled with dulce de leche) and anything with quince jam on top (I want some pastries now....)
5. favourite song in your native language?
This is even harder than answering the other question because I listen to so many different genres ;;w;; I'll just recommend some songs I particularly like, even if they are not Argentinean, they are in Spanish!
Tu misterioso alguien - Miranda (Argentinean pop band)
El arte de recuperarte - Miranda
Un candombe para Gardel - Rubén Rada (Uruguayan singer)
Se dice de mí - Tita Merello (Argentinean tango and milonga singer)
Welp, I put mostly Argentinean and Uruguayan songs this time! I can also recommend listening to songs from Juan Luis Guerra (Dominican singer) for a different type of music! I love a lot of his songs
A couple of bonus answers!
2. do you prefer spending your holidays in your country or travel abroad?
To be fair, I've only been abroad like... twice in my life. And it was nice, I had fun! but Argentina is so full of wonderful things I have yet to visit! and there are so many places I have and loved and would return to! So I guess the answer is: I would like to travel and get to see several places abroad, but I would love to do it while alternating with places here I haven't seen yet
26. does your nationality get portrayed in Hollywood/American media? what do you think about the portrayal?
Very occasionally and every time I've seen it, they got it completely wrong. And I have been pissed off every single time
29. does your region/city have a beef with another place in your country?
It would be more accurate to ask which part of the country my city DOESN'T have beef with.... 😅
Thank you for asking! if there is another question in particular you want me to answer, feel free to send me more asks!

@itscadashing  tagged me to post my top 5 songs I’ve had on repeat lately. Thank you :) I'll tag @ghostxofxartemis @briarfox13 @elleweird @stardatextoday @missysdiabolicalmusings and @amys2885 Only if you feel like doing this, of course.
Red Sun - Metal Gear Rising - I love the original, and this cover that recently got released its also very amazing.
Piano Bar - Charly Garcia - Discovered it recently through a friend. Charly is an iconic argentinean singer, and this song shows his musical genius.
Femmebot - Charli XCX - Super catchy tune. I love Charli so much.
Flesh for Fantasy - Billy Idol - My favourite Billy Idol song.
Platinum - Miss Madeline - I love Miss Madeline, and I've been stuck on this song for a fewweeks.

Continuing on with my Choices ideas for books from my banned Reddit account, here is "Four":
The fourth album curse is starting to weigh on your shoulders. By the time an artist releases their fourth album, it's believed that they're no longer popular, no longer a commercial success--of course, there have been exceptions. Do you have what it takes to be one?
Gameplay: your choices matter. Being a household name in the world of music, you'll decide whether to stick with the genre you love (pop, rock, hip-hop, or country), or if you want to experiment with a new sound. Along with this, your decisions will decide how your public views you, and if it tracks with your musical style. Are you into flashy, costume-changing performances, rhythmic dance routines, or intimate vocal performances?
LIs:
Dawn Diaz--a pop and R&B singer known for her phenomenal voice and having released 7 #1 albums ever since she began her career ten years ago. Over the years, she's become a master of the media, altering her image to supoort her music and shock her audience while remaining tasteful. When you collaborated on her hit single last year, she volunteers to collaborate with you on your new album. Her diverse style may be just what you need. (Argentinean-American, usually wears stylish designer clothing--unless she's anywear where there are normal people. Get ready for sweatshirts and jeans!)
Antonio Sousa--a former Olympian and your bodyguard. You met him at one of the ceremonies when he was competing in karate, and you hit it off immediately! He's protective ith you but understands the price of fame you have to pay, allowing you to grow from success and failure. You mean the world to him, and since he puts family at the forefront of everything he does, he helps you gain perspective on a possibly intimate fourth album. But are you ready to take the pain that comes with how personal it can get? (Brazilian, usually wears suits, but can be found in a sleeves shirt and jeans if you catch him on an off-day.)
Mursi Bono/Mercy--a rapper and former girl group star. After she embarked on a solo career, her first album went viral two years after it's release, leading to her record-breaking second album! Can you help her keep the momentum going with her third album? She usually only writes with a select group of people, but her manager suggests your creativity is perfect for the visual album she's planning. (African-American, employs an emphasis on blue, pink, and purple for her out of this world wardrobe.)
Nathan Wrighter/Bright Boy--dubbed as "punk's airhead" for his soft-rock albums that employed a sense of nostalgia and naivete, he's one of the chillest people you've ever met, at least off-stage--when he's under the spotlight, his dancing and outfits are loud and show-stopping. His likeability and professional attitude is inspirational for you, wanting to remain kind and assertive at the same time. When you get to meet your hero, what advice will he give about defying expectations and redefining yourself? (Caucasian, leather and colorful clothing, secure masculinity in anything he wears.)
Rhiannon Lou--a renound songwriter known for her immaculate skill. But she's also known for her little patience; if she feels like your collaboration won't go anywhere, she'll stop and she won't mince words. However, she's not unkind, just direct, and you'll find that she's quite different when she's out of the studio, embracing a minimalist viewpoint that combats her maximalist cowriters. Her impulsive perspective may challenge the cohesiveness of your album, but perhaps you need to start from scratch. (Chinese, casual clothing that embraces an almost childish aesthetic.)
Darius King--an actor who you costarred with for a blockbuster animated film, he approaches you for a musical role opposite one of the most famous opera singers in the world, someone you grew up listening to a lot in your household. Your musical training (and acting skills) is about to be tested when you take the role, but it gives you more time to spend with your idols, and makes you think that maybe acting is a career you should pursue as a break from music. (Afro-French, classy and high-end fashion that is nothing short of regal.)

Grammy and Academy Award winner Gustavo Santaolalla—who this week received the Latin Grammy Trustees Award—will release his acclaimed 1998 album Ronroco on vinyl for the first time in a newly remastered edition from Nonesuch on January 26. Pre-order now here.
The singer, composer, and producer’s classic album—which takes its name from a South American stringed instrument—comprises twelve original tunes inspired by traditional Argentinean music and influenced by music of Japan, Africa, and Eastern Europe. “Ronroco conjures bucolic images and feelings for me,” filmmaker Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu writes in the new liner note. “There’s always a note that surprises, breaks the pattern of the rainstorm, turning into silence, a gentle drizzle, or escalating into a tempest.”

Person of the World:
In just 14 days, the national and obligatory elections will take place in Argentina. In our country, voting is mandatory for citizens aged 18 and above, while it is optional for those between 16 and 17 years old. Elections in Argentina are divided into two main instances: the PASO (Open, Simultaneous, and Mandatory Primaries) and the General Elections.
PASO (Open, Simultaneous, and Mandatory Primaries): The PASO are primary elections that precede the general elections. Their main objective is to define the candidates who will represent the political parties in the general elections. During the PASO, voters choose the pre-candidates within each party or alliance, and each party presents its list of pre-candidates for different positions (president, vice president, legislators, etc.), and voters select their favorites.
General Elections: The general elections are the definitive electoral process in which citizens vote to elect the representatives who will occupy political positions. During this instance, political parties compete against each other with the lists of candidates selected during the PASO.
As a responsible citizen, I volunteered as a Polling Officer because I believe in democracy and the importance of participating in the electoral process. While I confess that the payment was also an incentive, it does not invalidate my commitment to the process.
However, after thoroughly reviewing the candidates, I have come to the disheartening conclusion that they are all of low quality, and I fear that they will only lead us to ruin or worsen our current situation further.
Note aside: I consider that only Argentinians have the right to criticize our country and call it a "shitty country."
As a responsible Polling Officer, I will present my own ballots in the PASO with the following representatives:
Lionel Messi for president: I firmly believe that Lionel Messi would be an excellent choice for president, as he embodies the nationalism, popularity, intelligence, strategy, and charisma expected of a leader. Messi is beloved both inside and outside of Argentina, and his achievement of the third cup provides sufficient hope that he can deliver what our country needs. Furthermore, his entrepreneurial abilities and teamwork could improve our country alongside his team of government.
Tumblr media
Taylor Swift (one of the two foreign candidates) for vice president: I believe Taylor Swift would be a suitable candidate for the vice presidency. Although I did not nominate her for the presidency, as I believe that the face of our country should be Argentinean, I admire her ability to inspire respect, handle the masses, and work under pressure. Her intelligence and understanding of the country's situation make her a valuable ally to work alongside Messi in an organized and consistent manner towards the future. Additionally, her experience in the music industry could contribute to making informed decisions for the country and its needs.
Tumblr media
To choose the Chief of Government of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA), my choice is: Lali Esposito: Lali Esposito is a woman with a brilliant and strong personality. Her ability to work as a team without succumbing to pressure from other provinces or opponents is valuable in leading the city. Furthermore, her charisma, intelligence, and support for women's rights have convinced me that she would be an excellent choice.
Tumblr media
My choices for the 6 deputies for the city are:
1. Lin-Manuel Miranda. 2. Eugenia "China" Suarez. 3. Moria Casan. 4. Marcos Ginocchio. 5. Diego César Topa (Topa). 6. Agustina "Papry" Suásquita.
These candidates are relevant figures in Argentina, and Lin-Manuel, with his worldwide fame as a composer, writer, musician, actor, and singer, would bring an interesting perspective.
Tumblr media
Regarding my ballots, it is possible that they may be contested and considered blank votes, which could benefit the candidate with the most votes. Although this may have consequences, I have no regrets about my decision whatsoever.

"Crocker's 1936 autobiography, And I'd Do It Again, chronicles many adventures the heiress had while touring the Far East, sometimes with Gillig and sometimes traveling alone including: an escape from headhunters in Borneo, a poisoning in Hong Kong; a murder attempt by knife-throwing servants in Shanghai; three weeks in the harem of Bhurlana (She claimed to be the first English speaking woman who had ever seen the inside of a harem); a search for Kaivalya (Liberation) at the cave of the Great Yogin Bhojaveda in Poona; and two bizarre sensual experiences, one with an Indian boa constrictor, and another with a Chinese violin in 'the House of the Ivory Panels.'
(...)
Her crowning achievement as 'Entertainer of Entertainers” which received press all over the world would be “The Dance of all Nations.' The program that evening featured the very frank “Salome” dance, the curious Vienna Viggle, and the 'cannibal' dancer Dogmeena, whose costume consisted of coconut oil and a red sash, and who enthusiastically danced in La Danse des Igorrotes. Crocker, appearing in pearls 'that would clothe a baby and ransom a king,' delighted the company when she danced La Madrilena, an Argentine tango (then denounced and forbidden by the Catholic Church) with one of her most recent admirers. A little later, with a twelve-foot snake twined round her neck, she appeared in La Danse de Cobra. When her guests backed away from the snake's emerald eyes and darting tongue, she exclaimed, 'It's as gentle as a powder puff.'
(...)
Crocker was romantically linked to many high-profile men including: Eduardo García-Mansilla, the great Argentinean musician, composer and diplomat, with whom she wrote a song Mon Amour; Genia D'Agarioff, opera baritone singer, who is credited with being the first person to sing in the Russian language in London and Paris; composer, performer, designer, director, and arranger Melville Ellis; Jacques Lebaudy, the self-proclaimed 'Emperor of the Sahara'; and legendary French actor Édouard de Max, 'The Most Beautiful Man in Paris.'"
