So first off, I need to clarify that certain characters will ONLY be platonic while others can be both. Drawing wise, I will only do the fandoms I list here but I will draw any that's not listed as well.

Other Notes, I can age or deage character. Characters can be shipped with other canon or the reader, i don't mind doing either. You should clarify what exactly you want; fluff, angst, flanst, yandere, nsfw, and so forth. You can even give specific details for the reader.

Also, feel free to give plot, suggestions, and just in general whatever. I want to get back into writing so it'll take me time but I promise I will get things down eventually. I will force myself haaa. Though if a plot really interests me it'll most likely get done quickly, but i'll make sure to also do things in order!

I think that Karkat is funny! I felt bad for him getting sucked up in a convwersation vwith Kankri vwhen they first met. Looked as if the gears in his thinkpan rusted off after Kankri's sermo- I mean, lessons. His jawv hangin' dowvn lowv is an appropriate reaction, really. I don't blame him. Though, I think Kankri vworsened the kid's anger problems or somethin'. Probably ain't gonna livwe long vwith all that stress vweighin dowvn on him, haha.

Porrim's dancestor, Kanaya? I dunno much about her but she seems a little bit the opposite of her? In vway that she doesn't seem to care much about all that junk or so I assume, not to a degree Porrim does. But she livwed in a completely different planet so politics are probably vwastly different. Ehhh, I dunno.

En la segunda mitad del siglo XIV a.C., en Egipto se atravesaba una crisis política que desembocó en la llegada al trono del reino del Nilo de Ramsés I (1305-1303 a.C.), fundador de la dinastía XIX, padre de Seti I (1303-1289 a.C.) y abuelo del gran Ramsés II (1289-1224 a.C.). Seti I consiguió reconquistar para Egipto el sur de Siria y Palestina, a la vez que el Imperio hitita (que se extendía hasta Anatolia, el Líbano y Siria) pasaba por malos momentos a causa de los mitanos y los asirios.

Será Ramsés II, el faraón que se disputará con ellos el control de la región sirio-palestina  y para lograrlo organizó una gran expedición para conquistar la ciudad de Kadesh, entonces bajo control hitita.

Los reyes y la ciudad

Ramsés II, también conocido como “Ramsés el Grande“, nace aproximadamente en el año 1326 a.C., accede al trono hacia 1306 a.C. y muere alrededor de 1234 a.C. por lo que su reinado es, además de uno de los más prestigiosos de la historia egipcia tanto en el aspecto económico, administrativo, cultural o militar, uno de los reinados más largo (67 años). El faraón tuvo cuatro esposas reales, un gran harén y unos 80 niños engendrados pero su esposa más amada y venerada era la reina Nefertari.  Vio morir a muchos de sus hijos e hijas y fue Merneptah, su decimotercer hijo, le sucedió finalmente.

El rey hitita Muwatalli II es menos conocido que Ramsés, pero tan protagonista como él de este acontecimiento histórico. Sucedió en el trono a su padre Mursil II, pero antes ostentó cargos tales como el de gran mayordomo, general y jefe de la división de carros. Como militar se enfrentó al pueblo de los gasga, los pueblos de la región de Arsawa y claramente a los egipcios, todo antes de sofocar una rebelión interna en sus dominios. Pero sin duda será recordado por ser gobernante de la ciudad de Kadesh y por enfrentarse a Ramsés II por el control de Siria.

Por otro lado es bueno situar en el tiempo y en el espacio la ciudad de Qadesh o Kadesh, también conocida como Quidsa. Está situada en la región de Canaán, actualmente territorio sirio. Fue una ciudad poderosa, que participó en alianzas con los Mitani para derrotar a los egipcios en el siglo XV a.C., terminando como vasalla del reino del Nilo al ser derrotada en la batalla de Megido, convirtiéndose pronto en uno de los principales centros administrativos de los faraones en la región del Levante.

En el siglo XIV a.C. la ciudad cae en manos de un rey hitita, que se enfrenta a Egipto por el control de la región de Siria y que coloca a un rey en dicha ciudad, que pronto se convierte en un enclave de vital importancia para el control de la región. Este hecho motivará que, años después, Ramsés II se lance hacia la conquista de la ciudad cuando está está controlada por el monarca Muwatalli II.

Los ejércitos

El cuerpo de expedición egipcio estaba compuesto por unos 20.000 hombres repartido en cuatro divisiones: la división de Amón – controlada por el faraón -, la división de Ra, la de Ptah y la de Seth. El ejército egipcio se componía de una infantería armada con largas lanzas, espadas khepesh, hachas y potentes arcos. Iban ataviados con armaduras de cuero o de láminas de bronces, escudos y yelmos. La unidad militar más interesante que componía este ejército – y que también veremos en el ejército hitita – es el carro de guerra. El ejército de Ramsés contó con un total de 2.000 caros de combate, concebidos para poder penetrar en profundidad en las filas enemigas y después cambiar rápidamente de dirección.

Por otro lado, los hititas tenían un ejército compuesto por unos 17.000 hombres y 2500 carros de combates. Estaban comandados por el rey Muwatalli (1320-1285 a.C.). La infantería hitita estaba compuesta por soldados que se cubrían con túnicas o iban a pecho descubierto, protegidos por un yelmo y armados con armas muy similares a las egipcias. Los soldados de Muwatalli eran guerreros hábiles y valientes. La fuerza del ejército hitita se basaba en permanecer compacto y en hacerse preceder por exploradores o recurrir al engaño del enemigo, mientras el grueso del ejercito se movía con rapidez hasta encontrar una llanura donde los carros pudieran atacar. Sus carros de guerra eran más poderosos que los de los egipcios, podían transportar tres hombres armados con arco, lanza y escudo.

La batalla

La batalla de Kadesh tuvo lugar entre el octavo y el décimo día de la temporada de verano egipcia. Ese día, la división comandada por el mismísimo Ramsés II – la división de Amón- acamparon en las inmediaciones de la ciudad de Kadesh, mientras que las otras tres lo hicieron mas al sur, cercanas a un bosque y el río Orontes. Al día siguiente, Ramsés atravesaría este, seguido por las otras divisiones.

Cuando se aproximaban a la región de Shabtuna (actual Tell Maa´yan), los hititas les tendieron una emboscada, provocada cuando dos espías hititas convencieron al faraón egipcio de que el ejército de Muwatalli II se encontraba lejos aun de la ciudad, siendo esto mentira – pues se encontraban a menos de tres kilómetros de Kadesh -. Los espías fueron posteriormente capturados y obligados por Ramsés a confesar la distancia real a la que se encontraba el enemigo. Las tropas de Ramsés estaban demasiado alejadas las unas de las otras y fue necesario que avanzaran rápidamente para encontrarse con la división de Amón, muy adelantada.

Los hititas, durante la reorganización de las divisiones de Egipto, prepararon sus carros de guerra apostados al sur y se apresuraron a atacar a la división de Ra, situada a 15 kilómetros de la de Amón, provocando la derrota de la misma y obligando a la infantería egipcia a huir. Tras esto los carros hititas atacaron el campamento de Ramsés por tres flancos diferentes, provocando una presión en el mismo que no fue soportada por los soldados. Ramsés se quedó completamente solo con lo que quedaba de la división de Amón.

Todo parecía indicar que los hititas de Muwatalli II iban a vencer, pues hasta ahora solo había empleado los carros de combate – reservado a la infantería en Kadesh – y había sido suficiente para dejar muy tocado a Ramsés, pero cometió varios errores estratégicos, siendo el más grabe el hecho de haber aguardado el desarrollo de los acontecimientos en vez de rematar a lo que quedaba del ejercito egipcio. Ramsés II decidió emprender una última y desesperada carga contra el frente hitita que asediaba el campamento por el nordeste y, protegido por su guardia personal, atacó con éxito. Precisamente en ese momento llegaron las tropas supervivientes de la división de Ra, de Ptha y otras fuerzas auxiliares.

Las tropas de Ptah, por otro lado, frenaron el ataque de los carros de Muwatalli, a la vez que acababa con los refuerzos que atacaron el flanco derecho. Ramsés  completó el asalto atacando a las fuerzas enemigas desperdigadas por los márgenes del río Orontes y, gracias a que la infantería hitita permaneció inactiva tras la muralla de Kadesh, volvió a tomar posesión de su propio campamento.

Fase final. Ramses II y sus divisiones consiguen repeler los carros hititas y ataca a las fuerzas de Muwattali de frente.

El rey hitita no permitió que la infantería entrara en combate contra los egipcios de Ramsés, dada la fuerza de los arqueros enemigos. Ramsés, por otro lado, perdió la oportunidad de someter la ciudad de Kadesh por la fuerza, ya que su ejército había recibido un fuerte golpe a causa de los ataques de los carros de combate hititas, por lo tanto, se puede decir que esta batalla se zanjó sin vencedores ni vencidos. Ramsés II llegó a un acuerdo con el rey Muwatalli II por el que se atribuyeron la victoria, aunque, como no podía ser de otra manera, tanto Ramsés como Muwatalli realizaron celebraciones y se atribuyeron la victoria como método de propaganda.

Poema épico de “Pentaur”

Es un poema épico que ensalza la figura de Ramsés II como guerrero y su papel en decisivo en la batalla de Kadesh.

“Irguiéndose en toda su estatura, el rey viste la fiera armadura de combate y con su carro tirado de dos caballos lánzase en lo más recio de la contienda. ¡Estaba solo, muy solo, sin nadie junto a él!… Sus soldados y su séquito le miraban desde lejos, en tanto que atacaba y defendíase heroicamente. ¡Le rodeaban dos mil quinientos carros, cada uno con tres guerreros, todos apremiándose para cerrarle el paso! ¡Solo e intrépido, no le acompañaban ni príncipes, ni generales, ni soldados!…”

La batalla estuvo marcada en todo momento por la fuerza destructiva de los carros de combate, un arma que resultó ser decisiva para conseguir una fugaz victoria inicial por parte de los hititas, pero no suficiente. Ramsés II encajó una primer gran revés y supo actuar en consecuencia, mientras que Muwatalli pareció subestimar sus propias fuerzas. Es interesante también como esta batalla trata algo que será muy común en la historia militar, las deserciones. Tras el ataque a la división de Ra, muchos de sus componentes huyeron y esto fue castigado a posteriori. El Poema épico de Pentaur – expuesto más arriba -, precisamente hablará sobre como la valentía de Ramsés II compensó con creces la cobardía y la derrota del estamento militar, aunque cláramente esté todo adornado para gloria del faraón.

Kadesh es considerada por muchos la primera gran batalla organizada de la historia de la humanidad. En mi opinión no podemos atribuirle un título tan absoluto, pero si que podemos afirmar que durante ella salieron a la luz al menos tres factores que marcarían para siempre los conflictos bélicos: el uso de tropas móviles – los carros de combate -, la importancia y utilización de los “servicios secretos” para espiar al enemigo, y, por último, la división de los ejércitos en divisiones.
