Shouta has a long checklist following the oddities of the festivities last night and he must wake the prince in time for today's round of political meetings. It's the final day celebrating the thirty year treaty with the Highlands. Their guests would leave tomorrow, and Shouta could return to spending his evenings by the Prince's side should he ask.

He makes ready for the day, eyeing the five medallions—green, black, yellow, purple and white, top to bottom—hanging along the side of his door.

"They look like scales," Izuku said one night.

"I suppose they do." Shouta hummed, surrendering the opportunity to kick the man to his own room. The prince should've been dealing with the horrors of his angered etiquette teacher for skipping his lessons the entire day by running to the lab hidden in the Onyx Keep and performing experiments on stolen garden flowers again.

But Shouta liked having the prince by his side. It eased the part of him that shouted he didn't belong. As though where he belonged was at Prince Izuku's side.

If only. Because Shouta wasn't his knight to protect him. Not exactly.

The reminder is a sore taste in his mouth. His door slams shut with a bit more force than Shouta intends, the force whipping through the dark strands of his tied up hair.

Just one fanfic idea that I got from aysyndic: Thrawn snapping at the Ascendancy for all the manipulation and bantha shit that he was put through while the rebels watching with popcorn

That's a cool idea! Not sure it quite fits with how I tend to write Thrawn - in my head, he doesn't snap, really, and I'm fond of the "I don't see any of this as unusual" idea of how Thrawn sees his treatment by the Syndicure.

If I wrote something like this... it wouldn't necessarily be snapping, and something would have to precipitate it. The Grysk war, maybe, Thrawn (or Rebel!Thrawn) returns from Imperial space with the forces to turn the tide, and while doing so, is stymied or taken to task by the Syndicure in some fashion. Rather than snapping in the angry "how dare you treat me like this" fashion, Thrawn instead simply loses the last of whatever faith in the Syndicure he ever had, decides that they have clearly lost the last of their competence in leadership and have fallen too far into the trap of the Grysk, and calmly and logically (to him anyway) stages a military coup to replace them.
